Weddings are weird. You meet weird new people there.

Hear me out

Dean's attending Sam's wedding. Marrying his college sweetheart Jessica.

Sam and Dean didn't have much in terms of blood relatives, and the family they did have were a handful of folks who took in the two scrappy Winchesters after John passed

So it comes as a massive surprise to Dean to find out Jessica's entire extended family is attending. All the way to her fifth cousins twice removed and so on. All of them are all too eager to welcome (indoctrinate) more people to the family

So while Sam is basically swept away to talk to a great great grandma during the wedding rehearsal, Dean is left to fend for himself

Where he meets Castiel, a man he assumes to be one of Jessica's distance cousins. The man is blunt, stoic, and hilarious once you realize he's actually joking and fucking with you. And boy was he easy on the eyes too. The perfect person to spend this weekend with

He's Dean's saving grace and all this and honestly? Dean finds himself seeking the man out more and more as the week end goes on

It's only during the actual reception itself that Dean has the crushing realization

The man he was planning to take back to his hotel room after the wedding party... Is the pastor

And he just made a pass at him the other night

This is just something I wrote for fun bc the blurb by @colorlessjay was absolutely adorable, I HAD TO.

Let’s say that the trio is taking some time off of hunting. They know they’re not the only ones in the hunting game and the world can hopefully handle a good week without Team Free Will. 

They agree to head to a new bar closer to the Bunker as the day ends and night has its turn in the sky. As the engine stops, they admire the building’s rustic and midwestern charm. In big bold letters, a banner draped over the front parlor reads: “Grand Opening Happy Hour”.

This gets Dean all excited over trying out some of their specials and appetizers. “Alright, let’s go have some fun” he pats Cas’ shoulder as he gets out of the car. Cas looks back at Sam in the backseat, the man just shrugs with a knowing smile.

When they enter the new bar, it’s exactly what it sounded like coming from the outside. It’s cheerful and quite comfortable despite the crowd who came in to check out the new joint.

The three take their seats closer to the door just in case something goes awry, Sam gestures for the bartender’s attention, shooting a polite smile. The girl turns and smiles back. She saunters over casually, her pretty strawberry blonde curls bouncing on her shoulders. She reaches the three men and leans onto the bar “Hi there, what can I get for you gentlemen tonight?”.

Dean flashes her a smile, that usual charming one he uses all the damn time so it’s force of habit at this point “hi, uh..I’ll let my friends here go first.” She nods, taking out her notepad and preparing to write their requests down.

Cas squints, brushing that off as him being friendly in his own way. He then takes a look at the menu and clears his throat “I’ll take a club soda, please”. The girl nods and jots it down, turning to Sam who asks for a whiskey sour.  

She smiles, finishing up Sam’s order and turns to Dean who flashes a grin. “Make that two sours” he puts a few dollar bills down. She takes it and puts them in her back pocket “okay, I’ll be right back, handsome” she smiles sweetly and walks away.

“Oh boy…”, Sam mutters when he notices Cas shift uncomfortably, he doesn’t know how to explain the mixture of emotions brewing in him. It’s like he’s mad at Dean for entertaining this girl, he’s upset with him doing it with a random girl and not him, and he’s sad that Dean may still want normalcy in a relationship (white picket fence with kids as he’s heard the boys call it).

Dean looks over at his boyfriend, noticing the awkward movement, and thinks (stupidly so) maybe it’s time to play a little game with him. Get a reaction out of him, he’s seen how Cas handles men who come anywhere near him or close to harming him. He can’t wait to see what Cas will do if he continues to flirt with the bartender.

When the bartender comes back, Dean gets distracted by chatting the girl up, actually enjoying a conversation besides the fact he’s doing it to try and make Cas jealous. Sam sees disaster on the horizon, he glances at Cas, who’s staring at the pair wistfully. He looks so sad and miserable, and Sam doesn’t know what to do. He can now only wait for Dean to look over and realize his mistake.

The bartender gets pulled away to serve the other customers and Dean is left with a dopey smile. He turns to Cas to gauge his reaction, and his whole world shatters. Cas looks absolutely defeated, his eyes are staring at Dean longingly, his usual expression of confusion or nonchalance is replaced by one of acceptance. Like he knows he lost Dean to a woman, again. Kicked puppy at 100% max level.

“Oh-oh my god- uh-” Dean panics, glancing over at Sam for help, Sam just shakes his head and mouths “you did this- you fix it!” Dean looks even more lost at that to which Sam rolls his eyes and gestures “you’re on your own buddy”. Dean sighs, grabbing Cas by the arm gently and taking him outside. He pulls Cas to the side of the building and rubs the back of his neck, unsure of how to handle an upset angel.

“Look-I didn’t mean to-” he starts, only to be flustered by Cas’ still down trodden expression.

“Jesus-look, sweetheart…I swear, I was just joking okay?”

“So you took advantage of that girl’s sweet demeanor?” Cas bluntly asks, squinting at Dean with a hint of disdain. Dean immediately stiffens-shit-that wasn’t the response he was expecting. Leave it to Castiel to be concerned about everyone in the situation, even a complete stranger.Even if said stranger was basically stealing all of his boyfriend’s attention.

“Well-no no no, I’m sorry if it looked that way, I just-I kind of just wanted to see-”

Cas cuts him off again “See what, Dean?” He gives him that classic head tilt with his eyes narrowed, staring deep into Dean’s soul. The man gulps nervously.

“Look, I’m gonna come right out and say it, I wanted you to get all huffy and jealous, like you did with that flirty waiter last time? Remember that?”

Cas nods, he remembers when he basically threatened the man to back off with a fierce look after he made an innocent pass at Dean. It worked, the waiter thankfully backed off, and Dean realized something about himself that day. He loves his boyfriend being possessive, he was a changed man walking out of that diner.

“Yes, I remember that very well” Cas sighs heavily. His expression reverted back to a more resigned frown. Dean interlocks their hands, leaning in close to Cas’ face. “Then why’d you go and give me that damn frown, sweetheart?” Cas shrugs, exhaling deeply as he leans into Dean’s touch, their foreheads resting against each other. “I guess it just reminded me of how you used to talk about having normal lives with Sam…” Dean furrows his brows, Cas continues his explanation.

“A wife, kids, and a picket fence…” he doesn’t go any further, and Dean realizes he fucked up on a whole different front. “Oh- Baby, no…” He places his hands against Cas’ face, gently cradling the saddened angel like he was a precious gem. “I would never jump ship like that, not when I just got you back…never ever…I was just messing around, I won’t do it again…” Dean makes sure Cas is making eye contact as he says this. He’s being genuine with the love of his life, and Cas better see that. “Cas, if I promise not to do that again, will you forgive me? And not make me feel like I just stepped on Miracle’s tail?” Dean tries to smile to lighten the mood, it takes a minute, but it works. “Yes…”

“Yeah?” he asks for confirmation,letting his shoulders relax and he smiles a little bit brighter. “Yes, Dean…I understand you and agree to your terms..”

Dean breaks out into a wide smirk “Alright…now how about we go get Sam, head home, but the two of us, head out to do a little star gazing, just us, alone…how’s that sound to ya?”

Cas slowly begins to smile again and Dean feels his heart skip two beats. “I’d like that…”

As he promised, once they dropped Sam off at the Bunker, Dean took Cas on a scenic route to a spot where the stars would drive this apology home. The car ride was well spent with more conversation about what each of them wanted in this relationship and how much they meant to each other. All while Cas kept a gentle hand on Dean’s thigh as he drove.

They reached their destination, they pulled out Cas’ favorite blanket, and just sat on Baby’s hood. Looking up at the stars, watching them twinkle faintly. Dean pulls Cas closer, wrapping the blanket around them both. Allowing the angel to lean on him as they star gaze together. Cas feels more relaxed and happy than he’s ever felt so far. Just the sound of crickets, wind blowing through the trees, and Dean’s heart setting a gentle and soothing rhythm for him to relax to.

They continue to sit and watch the night go on, with a small fun fact about a star from Cas every now and then. Dean is doing everything he can to prove to his lover that he truly will never make him upset on purpose. Showering the man with so much love and making Cas laugh. Despite Cas’ reassuring him, he’s forgiven, everything’s fine, they’re good now. But Cas doesn’t stop Dean from giving him all the kisses in the world, because Dean said he deserves it. And he does. Castiel tries to return the favor but Dean refuses.

“Ah-ah-ah, no Cas, this is my time to apologize and prove I’m all yours”

“But-”

“No buts-darlin…just let me show you that no one will have me so goddamn whipped the way you do…okay?” Cas nods with a reluctant smirk. “Good” Dean lands a quick peck on Cas’ cheek. Cas can’t help but beam with affection as he gets showered with so much attention and care.

Dean chuckles as he looks down, smiling fondly at his angel, god he’d been an idiot, why would he even try to make his poor baby sad, just for a reaction, that was a dick move on his part. Never again he swore to himself. Sealing said promise with a long kiss to the top of Castiel’s hair. Which gets another small smile from Cas, who looks up. Both men stare at each other for a while, seemingly distracted by the other’s gaze. 

“I love you…Dean…”

“Love you too, Cas…I sure as hell mean it…I love you too…”

I see you

Something I don’t really see people talk about is the parallels, not only between Dean and John but also Cas and Mary as well as Dean and Sam during season 13.

(This is genuinely something that has been plaguing me so bear with me as I try to get it all out.)

Something I see a lot of people say is that the way Dean acted with Jack is very out of character, which is something I can get behind to an extent, but you know who it isn’t out of character for? John. Before Mary’s death we see John being a good father and we even see from the time travel episodes that young-John was horrified by his future actions but after losing Mary he became so lost in his grief that when he looked at his kids all he could see was Mary, contributing to his constant neglect of them. We see the same with Dean, after Cas dies he blames Jack for it and treats him awfully, an attitude made worse by how similar Jack and Cas are. Just like John, he couldn’t stick around for Jack and parent him the way Cas, and Mary, would have hoped.

Leading to the similarity’s between Cas and Mary, we know that Mary truly believed that John was a good father and that he would have continued to be a good father after her death a parallel that wouldn’t be hard to conclude from the way we see Cas talk about Dean, his genuine belief that Dean is all things good. We only saw John being a good parent when Mary was alive just like we only saw Dean treating Jack well after Cas came back to life, but we can all see that both Mary and Cas’s deaths were a catalyst for John and Dean leading to their behaviour.

But after Mary died someone had to look after Sam cus it wasn’t gonna be John, leading to Dean having to step up and practically raise Sam, something we see with Sam and Jack. We know from the show that Sam see Cas as another brother meaning that in a perfect world Sam would have never had to step up and parent Jack just like Dean wouldn’t have had to step up for Sam. Meaning that Sam became the Dean to Jacks Sam.

Meaning that in conclusion Dean is Cas’s Widow 😞✊

John = Dean

Mary = Cas

Dean = Sam

And lastly

Sam = Jack

Showing us the repeated cycle.

Okay so I've been thinking

I think Dean would have a claymore. Like I feel he would be an unwilling Paladin who is being OFFERED power by a God determined to make him his champion, but Dean keeps refusing. He duel classes as a bard, not even a very good one, just to piss off the God more as an act of rebellion and a big fuck you

Sam I think would be a Monk by choice, but Warlock by trade whose patron was someone who made a deal with his mother before he was born. He tries to use his magic for good but from where he's from, it's deeply looked down upon. He's good at it, really really good at it and has the potential to master it. He just wants to prove himself as a good person, and that he's not a bad omen

Castiel would probably be a Cleric who turned into a Rogue after joining the Winchester Party. He used to be a high class Cleric, even earning favor from his deity before cutting himself off from it and having to start from scratch. He now uses blessed blades. His stealth is phenomenal and his deception is so good that he manages to confuse people into giving him what he wants

They quest to fight Dean's God, Sam's Patron, and Cas' Deity to free themselves from the fate which was put upon them

Little Mermaid AU

Give me a selective mute Castiel.

He saves Dean from a ship wreck thunderstorm, accidentally clawing at his arm hauling him to land. I want Dean to be awake enough to JUST make out bright blue eyes before they disappear from view

I need Cas, instead of trading the voice he doesn't use, trades his ability to understand living beings. The fish, the birds, other people, their words and sounds are now new and foreign. Like he's never learned a language in his life

He goes on land and meets Dean. Dean recognizes his eyes but doesn't connect them to the ones who saved him. Just sees a man washed up on shore, confused, quiet, and sick and decides to take him in with his brother's insistence that they help him

No miscommunication

Just a journey of LEARNING how to communicate in general. Of two people from vastly different worlds, with just a huge barrier between them, finding a way and falling in love in a time where their kind of love isn't exactly 'normal'

Less so when Dean discovers what Cas used to be
