begging you guys to join jen and i in our fantastic beasts obsession….. you’re missing out on the throuple of all time: leta lestrange + newt and theseus scamander!!!!!! imagine ur childhood friend - your best friend and maybe even only friend apart from all your creatures - goes onto GET ENGAGED to your BROTHER!!!! they obviously had an awkward threesome. like. the summer after newt&leta graduated and they’re hanging out a lot at the scamander house. toeing the line of something and one night it all just devolves and spirals a little out of control. newt then goes on his travels. bc he was always planning on leaving and they all knew he was leaving and maybe he doesn’t think they’ll miss him all that much and maybe he’s running away just a little bit and they don’t ask him to stay and he doesn’t ask them to come with him and when he comes back they’re ENGAGED!!! and leta works for the ministry bc theseus got her a job there bc theseus wants to keep all the people he loves safe and near him and he thinks the ministry can provide that and god. he keeps asking newt to join the ministry too but obviously he never would but aaaaa he just wants newt safe and near and he’s been away for so long and getting involved in such dangerous things and both theseus and leta miss him soooo much and worry for him and talk about him and they got closer after newt left, maybe trying to find him in each other a little, trying to close the gap that he left behind, and eventually that leads to there engagement. and newt keeps a picture of leta in his fucking suitcase and he loves her and he loves his brother but he loves his creatures too and leta looks at him in her family tomb and says YOU NEVER MET A MONSTER YOU COULDN’T LOVE!!!! and then she looks back at them BOTH and says I LOVE YOU and doesn’t specify which one of them she’s talking to and then she dies. for them. bc she loves them. both of them and she always has, and now leta is gone and she’s left a different gap behind bc it’s permanent and she’s not coming back and the brothers will never be able to close that gap but they try. they try and they’re brothers and they look after each other and keep each other safe and near. and theseus is the head of the british auror office and newt is a magizoologist that the ministry HATES w a passion but theseus will still come when newt calls and still follow his lead and god it all just drives me insane. how are you guys not seeing this?!?!?!

Angrboða Lestrange (OC)

For anyone curious, Angrboða is my Hogwarts Legacy OC for the purpose of this playthrough!

Etymology: Angrboða is the name of a jötunn in Norse mythology. In Norse legend, she is the mate of Loki and the "mother of monsters"; Fenrir the wolf, the Midgard serpent Jörmungandr, and the ruler of the dead Hel. The Old Norse name Angrboða has been translated as 'the one who brings grief', 'she-who-offers-sorrow', or 'harm-bidder'. The first element is related to the English word "anger", but means "sorrow" or "regret" in Old Norse. The second element "boða" is cognate with the English word bode as in "this does not bode well". Angrboða is also the name of one of Saturn's moons.

Biography

Angrboða was born in 1875 to the wealthy Lestrange family, an ancient and wealthy pure-blood family that originated in France but has branches in Great Britain. Her parents were Corvus (III) and Eglantine Lestrange, and she had an older brother who was eight years older than her who was named after their father, Corvus (IV).

As a child, Angrboða didn’t seem to show any signs of magical power, much to the disgust of her parents who despised the idea that their daughter was a Squib; the only reason they didn’t rid themselves of her is because of the Lestrange family motto, “Corvus oculum corvi non eruit” - “a crow will not pull out the eye of another crow”, representing how members of the family will not turn their backs on each other. Still, the shame of having what they thought was a Squib for a daughter made them try to hide her away, and many people - including many of their own family - didn’t even know that they had a daughter. As a result, Angrboða was not included on the Lestrange family tree that would later be found by her niece, Corvus’ daughter Leta, at the Cimetière du Père-Lachaise in Paris in 1927.

Growing up, Angrboða tried hard to show her family that she wasn’t useless - that even if she didn’t have magical abilities, she would still worth something to them. It was to no avail, of course; her family despised muggles, muggle-borns and Squibs, and the fact she didn’t appear to have any abilities meant she was completely loathsome to them. Over time, Angrboða developed a love of reading and writing, pastimes that she spent hours doing when locked away in her room or trying to hide from her brother, who quickly developed a penchant for practicing certain spells on her - he never did it in front of their parents, but she knew that they were aware and simply chose to turn a blind eye to it.

Angrboða’s magical abilities only began to show when she was fifteen, and she was both surprised and overjoyed to learn that she was not a Squib after all - she had thought that perhaps her parents might then care for her, that her brother might apologise for bullying and mocking her all those years… but the damage was already done. Of course her parents weren’t going to forbid her from attending Hogwarts, of course she would attend now, but they made it clear that it changed nothing: she would always be a disappointment to them, and nothing she did would ever change that. Still, a small part of her hoped that they might change their minds if she proved herself to them, if she showed them how good a witch she could be.

Ultimately, William believes that that road will lead to finding a way to forgive. “If not to forget, then to forgive.” Yusuf has a new family and a new purpose, but those are still being defined, so Nadylam is excited to continue to draw and redraw those lines in later installments.

“I think it would be interesting to explore all these roots in this character also because he’s someone who has to have fortitude, who has to understand how to maybe make way for something he has not been open to for all these years.” The Unbreakable Vow he took necessitated him to become a bit of a loose cannon of revenge, “a kamikaze of the wizarding world, and I think opening all that, opening his relationship to the beasts or a form of humor, that is something that’s yet to be explored.” Nadylam can also sense that Yusuf has great power as a wizard that is still yet to be fully represented. “You can feel Dumbledore has a slightly different relationship to him because of his powers. There’s a lot to uncover about him.”

I don’t like Fantastic Beasts that much but that scene in Crimes of Grindelwald where Leta Lestrange says “you’ve never met a monster you couldn’t love” and we all thought she was talking about one of Newts creatures but she was actually talking about herself and then sacrificed herself to save Newt yeah it actually kills me
