Also, since I'm divorce arc posting today, what if i said Dean wasn't wrong to say this:
CASTIEL The plan changed, Dean. Something went wrong. You know this. Something always goes wrong. DEAN Yeah, why does that something always seem to be you?
LIKE !!!!! Sure it was harsh and if emotions weren't heightened already and Dean wasn't still dealing with the very recent death of his mother and that grief (anger being a stage of grief!) and ALL the Chuck shit on top of that AND his own complicated feelings re: Jack's death (bc Dean was Not going to kill him, despite Chuck trying to manipulate him into doing that) he probably wouldn't have said that to Cas but like?? he's not really wrong.
You can easily trace a lot of the major season conflicts as a long line of dominoes starting with Cas's s6 betrayal. Leviathans. Purgatory. The tablets. Angels falling. Lucifer getting out of the cage via Cas possession. Etc etc. And most of the time Cas was doing things from a place of good intentions in his POV. Trying to fix things or spare others the burden of doing the hard thing. But still, these plans often backfire for Cas. Going it alone, not letting Dean (+ Sam) in on his plans, it usually does not end well !!!! They are TEAM Free Will for a reason. The show (and Dean) continuously emphasizes the importance of team and family and not going it alone. So, while what Dean says to Cas in this scene is definitely a harsh pill to swallow and not something I think Dean would say to Cas in normal circumstances, he technically isn't wrong. And that's what makes it such a heart-breaking scene.
And even more-so, he's saying this but he still, at his core doesn't want Cas to leave. ("Of course I wanted you to stay.") At the moment he needs space and time to process his grief re: Mary, and all the other stuff going on, but he still wants Cas there and ultimately wants to fix things. ("I'd rather have you." "We can fix this." "I was there where were you." etc etc)
But to fix things they need to address his huge persistent, recurring issue between them: not communicating effectively and Cas continuously leaving, going rogue, and/or deciding for them when to involve Dean.
Dean wants to work together, as a team. Dean wants to be involved. Dean wants Cas to not just up and disappear and "deal with things" on his own like he always does. Cas, in his own POV, sees his actions as perhaps a form of care. He's protecting! He's taking on the hardships! Also, his hubris, wanting to be the strong protector type. Wanting to be a warrior. Powerful. Securing "wins." And these desires stem from his years as a soldier of Heaven, of equating worth with Results. Not something Dean has put on him or required of him.
But Dean doesn't see Cas's actions the way Cas perceives them. We as the omniscient audience know more about Cas's motivations than Dean does too. Dean often just sees Cas leaving, prioritizing the mission and shutting Dean out. However, I do think it's important to note that Dean is also usually willing to give Cas the benefit of the doubt, defend him, and forgives easily / implicitly.
They both care deeply about each other and don't maliciously mean to press on each other's specific insecurities and traumas but like, Dean is abandonment issues boy. And Cas keeps leaving. Or ignoring his calls when their daily lives are a constant life or death battle because they are literally living in a horror show! Dean is not unreasonable to be worried when he doesn't hear from Cas for days, weeks, months on end. He's not being "clingy" or "demanding." Expecting some base form of communication from the people you care about is normal in any relationship. Cas refusing to communicate in these moments IS a problem between them.
So, when Dean says, "Yeah, why does that something always seem to be you?" re: Cas being the "problem" it's harsh yes! But it's pushing them toward addressing this recurring issue (Cas going rogue often = plans backfiring) and the root of that issue which is Cas continuing to leave to do things on his own, change the game-plan without running it by anyone, and keeping others out. This moment is a breaking point. Because Dean, under normal circumstances, is generally one to defend, forgive, and move past Cas's mistakes. Cas himself says it in this very scene: "You used to trust me, give me the benefit of the doubt."
But at this point something needs to give, they need an explosive moment to just bring all these issues to light. It's a rupture.
Yes, Dean might "still blame [Cas] for Mary" but Cas also knows deeply, as he expresses to Jack, that Dean needs time and space to process his emotions. That he feels things more acutely and intensely but that ultimately he usually comes to a place of acceptance / forgiveness / is able to move on.
That's what Dean wants and needs in this moment. He needs space to deal with his feelings and his grief (clearly in the anger stage of it). And he also wants to finally address these issues! But Cas is also struggling himself and in his own mind he's feeding old insecurities. He let Belphegor get under his skin. He thinks he's not needed or wanted anymore. So, he does what he tends to do. Leave.
CASTIEL Well, I don't think there's anything left to say. [Castiel makes to leave.] DEAN Where you going?
Cas decides to leave and Dean immediately asks where are you going? Because even now, feeling how he does, he doesn't want Cas to leave.
What Dean wants is to have a confrontation. He wants to get to the root of their issues. He asks Cas why didn't he just stick to the plan. And emphasizes the concept of WE, of being a team. "We would've figured it out....after. With Rowena." He wants them to stick together, work together. But he's struggling. He's grieving. And still, he wants Cas to stay, of course I wanted you to stay.
And I say it all here in this post but the whole "I left but you didn't stop me" is just, Cas really? From Dean's POV he sees Cas's leaving as a choice Cas makes. He respects his choice and doesn't ask him to stay because he also does not feel he deserves to ask people to stay for him. He is always putting his own wants and desires second to those of others. He thinks, if Cas wants to leave, who is he to stop him?
Anyways, I think too much of divorce arc puts blame on Dean or makes Dean out to be "the bad guy" and "the reason" Cas leaves and the one who needs to "grovel" and apologize / be forgiven. But Cas is not blameless. Cas leaves because Cas leaves. Cas leaves because he chooses to and because he does not want to confront the realities of the situation or his own role in their issues. And after Cas leaves he continues to bury his head in the sand and be avoidant (thee core issue!) while also going out and working a solo case in an effort to secure a "win" and prove to himself that he's still capable of getting things right and not always failing.
And all of this, the complexity, the layers, Cas's stubbornness and flaws, is deeply delicious to me. Cas is not a blameless innocent little baby who got his feelings hurt by "big meanie Dean" in this situation. He is someone who heard a hard truth from someone he cares about and made the choice to leave instead of confronting the issue. And throughout it all, they both still deeply care about each other. It's evident in everything they do. And they want to work it out, but are both at different places and struggling with their own feelings too.

Arts and Crafts Disaster
Warnings: blood, papers cuts, slight cursing, let me know if I missed any :)
Pairings: Castiel x reader platonic, Dean Winchester x sister reader, Sam Winchester x sister reader
Request: hello :))) I have a request!! Can you do a castiel x child reader where castiel has to babysit child reader again, but child reader somehow injured themself and dean and sam come back from a hunt to a crying child reader and a panicky cas? thanks!! love your stories btw<33
Request by: @homowholikespace
*not my gif*
Summary: Cas is back to babysit again
A/N: There’s some references to a past work of mine —> Of Cats and Angels; Also, yes paper cuts do hurt that much. No, it’s not dramatic
Please don’t plagiarize my work, you may reblog if you like but I’m asking that you don’t steal my hard work
“Cassie!” You cheered as soon as the angel landed in the bunker's library, hurrying over and wrapping your arms tightly around his leg in a hug.
“Hello, Y/n.” He greeted, patting the top of your head fondly.
“Thanks again for watching her, Cas.” Dean spoke up, striding into the room as he slung a duffel bag containing all he would need for the upcoming hunt over his shoulder.
“It is no problem.” He answered the eldest Winchester honestly, nodding along as you already began babbling to him about one thing or another.
Dean gave him a smile, clapping him on the back before trailing after Sam, who had walked up the stairs and out into the garage moments ago.
The two of them were going out on a hunt a couple miles away, so they called up their angel friend to babysit you once more. Considering the last time had been a success, save for the newfound kitten that now roamed the halls of the bunker.
“Say ‘hi’ to Sir. Fuzzy- Bottom Mittens, Cassie!” You demanded, presenting the cat up to him as soon as your brother disappeared.
“Hello, Sir. Fuzzy- Bottom Mittens.” He echoed, reaching out a finger and gently scratching the small thing behind its ear.
You grinned up at him, satisfied, and set the cat free on the ground, “What are we gonna do today?” You asked eagerly.
From the look on your face, he could tell you were hoping that today would end with you gaining a new pet again. But he couldn’t let that happen, he doubted your brothers would let it slide again. It was pure luck he got away unscathed after they found out about Sir. Fuzzy- Bottom Mittens last time.
“How about some arts and crafts?” Castiel suggested.
After the last time, he had done some research on what children liked to do, and this was one of the top results he had found.
You squealed, nodding up and down happily before skipping off to go get some art supplies Sam had left in a nearby closet for you and returned with a box filled to the brim with different papers, colored pencils, markers, and crayons.
You happily dumped them on a table and you and Cas set to work, a determined silence falling over the two of you like a blanket.
Working side by side, you each were laser focused on your own projects at hand, Castiel trying to draw a rainbow with the perfect mix of colors, and you working hard to draw a family picture of you and your brothers- featuring Castiel and Sir. Fuzzy- Bottom Mittens, of course.
This went on for hours. Every time one of you finished your drawings, you wouldn’t find it satisfying enough, and would crumble it into a ball, toss it into a nearby wastebasket, and start over. There was definitely something admirable about both of your determination to get your pieces of art just right.
Finally, a wide grin broke out onto your face as you stared down at your paper, “Cassie! Cassie, look! I did it-“ You whipped your paper into your hands all too quickly to try and show the angel your finished product. The material sliced across your finger in such a way that it began to bleed immediately. Paper cut.
Both of you stilled for all of a minute, until the pain stung harsh and fast and tears began to fill your eyes.
You began wailing right away, sticking out your wounded hand as if it was infected, and Cas’s panic quickly filled his silent void.
“Are you alright?” He asked hurriedly, “What can I-“
You just kept bawling though, the sting of the paper cut that dug deep fresh in your pain.
Poor Castiel had no idea what to do. He had never been in this situation before. Sure, he could reach over and easily heal you with a touch, but all logic seemed to fly out of his mind the second you began sobbing.
“Hey! We’re home!” As always, Dean and Sam burst in at just the wrong moment.
The second your cries reached their ears, they flew down the stairs in a blur of movement and panic, very similar to Castiels, not stopping until they were right in front of the two of you.
“What is it?” Dean panted instantly, “What’s wrong?”
With a wobbling lip, you held out your scarred finger to them, and they both let out simultaneous breaths of relief.
“Oh, sweetheart.” Sam cooed, shoulders relaxing as he scooped you up into his arms, letting you burrow your face into the crook of his neck, “It’s okay, you’re alright.”
He lead you off to get a bandaid and Dean whirled around to face Cas as soon as he was out of sight, “What the hell, man?” He demanded.
The angel shrugged helplessly, “Just a moment ago she started crying very loudly and I didn’t know-“
You and Sam entered back in the room, hand in hand, as you wiped your eyes and nose with the back of your sleeve, calming down significantly.
“Are you alright?” Cas immediately asked in concern.
You nodded shyly, focusing your eyes on the ground as you shuffled your feet up and down.
Sam smiled down at you softly, squeezing your hand gently in reassurance, “She’s alright, just got a bit freaked out, that’s all.”
You sniffled slightly, gently letting go of Sam’s hand and walking back over to the table, lifting up your drawing- very carefully this time- to show the three men your hard work.
“Wow, great job, kiddo.” Dean praised instantly, reaching over and ruffling your hair, emitting giggles from you.
Sam grinned, studying the drawing of himself, “The hair is spot on.” He remarked.
“It looks wonderful, Y/n.” Castiel told you honestly.
All four of you were standing in a line in the picture, holding hands and wearing bright smiles, Sir. Fuzzy- Bottom Mittens of course hanging a couple inches above all of you in the air, doing so with the powers you were convinced he had and just never used when you were all around.

Summary When he and Sam get back from Sonny’s, Dean is itching to talk to Cas, to get him back in the Bunker —where he belongs. To his disappointment, Dean doesn’t get a chance to try to brainstorm a way to get Cas back before he gets a call from Sheriff Mills about some missing persons in a small town a couple of miles outside of Sioux Falls. He hopes to use the case as a distraction, but that plan is thrown out the window when Dean runs into Cas at the church chastity group at the center of all the disappearances.
OR
What if, instead of hooking up with Suzy in 'Rock and a Hard Place', Dean hooks up with Cas and they get taken by Vesta?
Excerpt Scanning the parking lot, he desperately hopes he’s not too late; he cannot miss this chance. Thankfully, the light green hoodie stands out in the barren church parking lot.
“Cas!” Dean calls out, following after his friend. To his mild annoyance and a bit of guilt, the ex-angel continues walking away, towards the sidewalk. “Cas! Stop, man. Please!” To try and close the distance between them, Dean breaks into a small sprint, eventually catching up and placing a hand on Cas’s shoulder.
Cas stops, his shoulders sagging as he sighs and turns to Dean. “Hello, Dean.”
“What the hell are you doing here, man? Last I saw you, you were at that Gas-n-Sip in Idaho. How did you even get here?”
A small, proud smile pulls at Cas’s lips, and Dean feels his heart melt a bit. “I secured myself a vehicle and drove here. I picked up on quite a lot by watching you drive your car over the years. As for how I found out about the case, I stumbled upon it while reading the newspaper. After we hunted the Rit Zien, I’ve been keeping an eye out on other potential angel cases. I remembered that your sheriff friend is based in Sioux Falls, so I told myself that I would check in with her if I found anything angel-related. But…” Cas pauses, his smile fading to a frown as he casts his gaze downward. “I didn’t want to risk running into you or Sam. I guess I failed anyway.”
At a loss for words, Dean gapes at Cas for a moment while his mind catches up. It’s not like he can fault Cas for avoiding them, considering neither he or Sam still don’t know the real reason Cas left the bunker due to Dean telling them individualized lies. “Yeah, that’s fair, I guess.”

Can't be Her
AU Dean angst filled drabble no one asked for (NOT MY GIF)
I've never written anything for AU Dean but I liked this idea when it popped into my head so it's told partially from his pov
Making it through the portal was shock then seeing doppelgangers of Sam and himself? That was a little unsettling.
Dean had just gotten settled in the library with the other Dean and Sam when he heard a voice that nearly made him drop the beer in his hand. "Dean?"
Sam cut his eyes at him wordlessly telling him he'd heard it too, that the recent trauma of their world collapsing and universe jumping hadn't made him lose his mind completely.
He felt like his air had been cut off when you came walking into the room. You were wearing jeans and a black t-shirt with a dark red flannel. Even in clothing so damn simple you were the most beautiful thing he'd ever laid his eyes on "Y/N?" He was on his feet without thinking but your eyes widened and you ducked closer to the other Dean who spoke up "Woah buddy. Slow down there"
He realized what he'd done and quickly felt his face flush with embarrassment "I am so sorry" he walked out the room, unsure where he was headed but he couldn't face you. He'd listened to his heart instead of his head. He knew you were gone or well his version of you. He'd held her as she died. It was of some consolation too see that this Dean hadn't made his mistakes, he'd kept you safe.
------------
Everyone was silent after AU Dean walked out. You looked up at Dean who still an arm protectively around you "What was that about?" AU Sam half raised his hand and when you looked at him he smiled in that so achingly familiar way. Guess your Winchesters and the AU Winchesters weren't so different after all.
"You look just like his Y/N" Dean looked from you to AU Sam "What happened to her?"
AU Sam took a deep breath "I don't know if the three of you ran across Eve in this universe?" You nodded so he continued "She caught Y/N..... we tried so damn hard to get to her in enough time... our Castiel was killed in battle so there was no one capable of saving her....she died in his arms"
Dean's arm tightened around you, no doubt remembering every close call you'd ever had "No wonder he acted like that seeing you. I would've too"
---------
After he was sure he could be around you Dean headed back to the library. You were sitting next to the other version of him with your head laid over on his shoulder. Both Sams had disappeared.
"Y/N, Dean I apologize for earlier" the other Dean spoke first "Your Sam explained man. It's ok" you smiled softly at him before standing up "Is it ok if I hug you?" He looked to your Dean who shrugged "She makes her own decisions man. I trust her"
At that answer he nodded "Of course" you slipped your arms around him and he pulled you into his chest. He closed your eyes at the feeling of you in his arms, you even used the same shampoo and perfume she had.
After a moment you pulled away and he let you. You looked over at your Dean then back at him "I know I'm not her but if she loved you like I love him, she didn't blame you and she'd be happy to know you were still alive and still fighting" "Thank you Y/N" He replied with a small smile. You nodded "Of course"

Dean Winchester x Reader
Not a boring life
«Are you listening to me? Dean.» Castiel puts his hand on my shoulder .
«I was thinking… you can read minds, don’t you?» Castiel looks at me.
«Yes, I can. Why?»
«The son of a bitch of that fucking angel made me see a reality in 6 years from now and… Sam had become his vassal, and Y/n was with him. They were, I mean… together. Besides, the devil told me I would lose her because he offered her something I can never give her. I know there’s a chance he’ll take Sam, but her?»
In my mind, I relive that damn moment a hundred of times: Sam, who isn’t Sammy anymore, possessed by the devil and Y/n who is at his side and he caressed her! That drives me crazy.
«So?» Castiel asks.
«Read Y/n’s mind, see if you can find something that she has lost or someone. Maybe she desires something more than anything.»
«Wouldn’t be better if you ask her?»
«Wouldn’t be better if you do what I asked you and don’t say a thing?!» he nods and disappears.
2 minutes later
«Done.»
«Oh, you’re already back.» I lean against the wall.
«So, what is her biggest secret?» I say funny but Castiel looks at me with a serious, too much seriousness, face.
«She lost her family: her dad died of a cancer when she was young and then her mother and her brother died in a car accident five years ago.» He tells me the story, and I see in his eyes the sadness.
«is there anything else? Why do you have that face?»
« I saw her feeling, Dean. It was distressing to see her memories, devastating to live them I guess. Besides it was hard to find those memories, it was like she erased them. She was alone most the time of her life. A child growing up too fast. But when she lost her mom and her brother in a car accident, she was in the car but she survived. She spent months to recovery, she wanted die with them...»
«She wanted to die? Why she didn’t tell me nothing?»
«Calm yourself, Dean, she has her reasons.»
«Yeah, and she can talk to me! I could help her.»
«Don’t you understand, Dean? She can’t even think about it… losing before her father, then all the rest of her family. Y/n just wants…»
«What?» Castiel and I turn around and see Y/n at the door. She just looked at Castiel, though.
«Cass, say that is not what I’m thinking…» Cass looks down at his feet.
«Why did you do that?» Her eyes begin to fill with tears.
«I’m sorry, Y/n…» Cass says.
«Why did you do that? Why are you talking to him about it?» Her breath becomes irregular. I approach her, but she immediately backs up.
«I wanna an answer Cass! Why did you do that?» Y/n yells at him. Cass’s embarrassment is evident.
«I asked him to do that.» as I said that she slowly turns to me.
«Why…?» I try again to get close to her, but she still backs up.
«That was my life! I had to be the one to tell you that not an angel who can reads minds! Why did you do that?» Y/n yells at me preventing me from approaching her.
«Baby, I asked Cass to do that because I need to know why you in 6 years, you would’ve said yes to the devil… the fucking angel made me see a reality, in 6 years from now, where you and Sam were with Lucifer and I realised I have to make things work differently…»
«Why didn’t you ask me, first?» i try to approach her again but she won’t let me touch her.
«Honey, why didn’t you tell me that? I could help you. I love you, I’m sorry for what you had to live through.»
But these words don’t calm her down, they make her more nervous.
«Yes? What would you have done? Take them back? That is impossible, and all I want is to forget! Forget about everything that has happened to me before this life with you! Sorry for not telling you anything that happens on this or whatever happen before that we met but I can’t…» she makes a pause, then say
«But you didn’t have the right to steal my secrets.» When she finishes talking, she turns and leaves the room.
«Oh, maybe you, Cass, could read my mind so you’ll explain to your friend how I feel right now. Steal this from me too.» She says defiantly to Castiel.
Now I feel guilty for both her and Cass too.
«Y/n, please listen to me…»
«LEAVE ME ALONE!I always respect the fact that you didn’t wanna talk about what fucking happened in the hell and I was okay with that! I never said nothing even when you didn’t wanna explain why you were sad or angry or whatever. Why can’t you do the same with me? Or maybe you could ask me instead…»
«Come on, love, lemme explain…»
«Yeah, no. The only thing that I wanna do is run away from here. Before you destroy everything, with you I never think about that! But you have to know, right? All that matters was that you know.
Don’t follow me, I hate you right now and I don’t wanna even see you.»
These words strike me deeply... but it is true, I never told her what had happened in hell or the shit life I had before meeting her. Yet, she was always by my side when all I needed was a hug.
The sound of the door closing makes me lose my mind.
«Sorry Cass… »I say quickly and I go to the room. Y/n's voice is the only thing I can hear when I look in the mirror and see myself.
I punch the mirror, hurting my hand, then
I throw the TV and lampshades on the ground. Then I take the chair and split it on the dresser...
After completely destroying the room, I sit on the floor leaning against the wall, covering my face with my hands.
I’m tired of always trying to do the right thing to protect the people I love but, no matter what I do, everything has to fuck up!
Every fucking time!
Y/n’s pov
After running until my feet begged me to stop, I sat by a lake.
Dean didn’t have to do this to me, he didn’t have to steal my thoughts. And yet it’s his style. Getting what he wants by any means...
After the last double funeral, I walked out of that house and vowed never to return. All my life, forgetting was the antidote to everything that hurt me.
But even if I try, I can’t forget, and every time these thoughts come back, I get lost.
One year after my mother and brother died, Dean came along, like a bolt from the blue. And damn me falling in love with him... of him, of the life that appeared in front me, of Sam, of hunting.
Not a boring life.
Maybe I exaggerated... the words I said to him definitely hurt him. I pick up the phone and find a message from Dean.
“I’m sorry, I know I fucked up, I know, but please before everything talk to me. Love you.”
I don’t answer the message, but I get up and go back.
I open the front door and go to the kitchen where the light is on.
«It’s very late.» Dean says.
«I’m sorry, I…» as soon as I start talking he turns to me. I see his bloody hands.
«What happen?» This time, I’m getting close to him.
«I’m sorry. I lost my mind. Look Yn, I’m really sorry. But all I wanted to do was keep you safe from Lucifer and I need to know why you would’ve chosen him.»
«I never would choose him.»
«He would promise you to take them back.»Seeing his shiny eyes saddens me and, even all he does, the only thing I wanna do is kiss him.
«This is impossible. And even if this is possible in a certain demoniac way, I don’t care: they are dead and I know that pretty well.»
I love you, Y/n. » Dean smiles and continues
«I know that I love you, sweetheart. I loved you since the first time I saw you. Every time I'm with him, I find myself forgetting all the pain I've endured when we look into each other's eyes.
«Can I touch you? » Dean asks me.
«You have to.» I find myself in his arms in a flash.
«I love you, Dean.» I hear his laugh in my ears. He takes me in his arms and rests me on the kitchen counter, I gird his life with my legs.
«You don’t know how much I love you, Y/n.» He says as he kisses my neck and my hands caress his hair.
«I’m yours…» Dean says.
«And I’m yours, Dean.»
«Say it again, I think I could come.»
«Just like this? I didn’t even touch you there…» He lifts his head from the hollow of my neck and takes my face in his hands.
«You don’t need to touch me to turn me on.» I smile and kiss him on his beautiful lips.
This is all I need to make me feel alive...

Sorry for being inactive; I got uber busy. Have an unfinished work as a little treat as I catch up Papa Castiel and Little!Reader (FT: Uncle Gabriel)
Hurt/Comfort for the soul <3 Dark/Bad thoughts/Spiraling TW
"It's… it's still raining. Why is it still raining? I did what I was supposed to... That's not fair" ~ Jack Stauber
It was supposed to be a good day. You woke up small, excited, Papa had promised you could go to the beach and boardwalk, saying he knew a place where we would have privacy and no meanies could find you. But as soon as you cracked your eyes open, the dull ache in your head dampened your excitement, but you were convinced it would still be a good day. You eagerly crawled out of your little nest, ecstatic to get ready, when the outside caught your attention. It was raining. Trying to shake off the creeping feeling of dread, you still had Papa all to yourself for the day after all, you grab your favorite stuffie and sneak towards his room, intending to crawl into his nest with him. Pushing open the door you know something is wrong. Papa wasn't there. Papa was always home if he knew you were small. climbing into his nest, it was cold. He probably had left after tucking you in last night, but that... doesn't make any sense. He promised to go out with you, as a reward. Because you were being so good. He promised. But he left. Did you do something wrong? Did he think you were not good anymore? Was he upset with you?
Your own tears dripping onto your hand brought you out of your head. You sniffle, suddenly you don't want to be in his nest anymore. You shakily pace out of his room. down the hall to your big room. You weren't supposed to use your phone when you're small if it wasn't an emergency, Papa was always worried you would see something bad, but it certainly feels like an emergency. Scrolling through your contacts was like a heavy stone in your tummy. Uncle Sam and Uncle Dean were probably with Papa, all your big friends didn't know about your Papa or your regression... until a contact caught your eye. Gabriel He was another angel- He was a friend, and he was always super nice to you. Clicking the call button was scary, but being all alone was scarier. One ring..... Two rings.... and then it clicked and connected, a rush of loud sounds from the other end, as well as a loud greeting. The sudden noise pulled a whine from your throat, and almost instantly the response from the other end of the phone changed. There was the sound of a door closing, and the loudness was muffled, and Gabriel sounded softer as he responded. "Y/N? Sweets are you alright?" It took a moment for you to collect your words, stumbling over your own speech. "Uncle Gabriel.... Papa's gone... we was suppose'd t' go out..." If you could have seen him on the other end of the phone, the arc angel practically melted at your soft, despondent voice. He cooed into the phone, already making a mental note to scold Castiel later. "That sounds pretty scary, fledgeling. How's about I come over for now, and we can problem solve together?" With your soft hum of approval, he appears in your room in a flurry of feathers, clicking off the phone and scooping you up into his arms.
He was quick to take you into the living room, letting you sniffle and nuzzle closer to him, settling on the couch with you in his lap. “Now, how about you start from the beginning, jellybean” He prompts softly, rubbing your back gently. “Las’ night Papa promic’d we could go t’ the beach t’day cuz he said I been good, but but when I got up m’ head hurt n is rainin an an Papa not home-” Another whimpery cry bubbled up, prompting you to bury your face back against the angel’s chest. He coos softly, running a hand up and down your back gently. “That sounds like a terrible morning, kiddo, but Uncle Gabe is here now, and I won’t let the nasty weather and those mean thoughts of yours trouble you anymore.” He presses a kiss to the top of your head, and the dull ache in your head disappears. He scoops you back up, setting you on the counter as he sets about the kitchen to make you something to eat. For a fun-loving party animal of an arc angel, he was quite good with kids. He chattered on, entertaining you as he made something simple he was sure you would eat, plating it and handing it to you on the counter. Despite how uneasy you felt about your Papa being missing, Gabriel had distracted you enough for you to happily eat the food. “Alright Munchkin, why don’t you show me what shows you like huh?” Gabriel proposes, scoping you back up onto his hip, crossing from the kitchen to the living room and dropping back onto the couch with you. He flicks on the TV just as the apartment door creaks open, startling both you and your current babysitter, until you notice a familiar trenchcoat and head of brown hair. You are torn between hiding against Gabriel, because he had left, and running over to tackle him in a hug, because he came back. Gabriel on the other hand, tightened his hold on you slightly. He loves his little brother, don't get him wrong, but seeing you so distraught had made him feel protective, those old guardian angel instincts kicking up, and Cas had been the one to hurt you.
Castiel’s blue eyes scan the room on instinct, doing a double take as he notices his brother and little on the couch.

Summary: This was what Dean did, spouted off statements that made absolutely no sense except to his own mind. And then he would grin and wait for Castiel to respond. He had initially thought that this was a demonic tick developed over forty years in hell. But it hadn't disappeared with the rest of the demonic attributes. Dean continued to be incomprehensible. OR the 5 times Dean said he needed Cas and the 1 time Cas realized what that meant.
Excerpt: The hellhounds howled again, Dean's soul practically vibrating at the same frequency. No. Nonononono. I can't do that again. I can't be that again. Don't let them take me back. "I won't." Dean didn't seem to hear him, still swinging wildly with each howl. I can't. I...just dump me back in. "I can't." The fuck? "This is more complicated than I expected." He hadn't expected to have to rebuild so much of Dean. He hadn't expected to be alone for this. He hadn't expected it to be him. Castiel closed his fingers more firmly around Dean's shoulder bone, swinging his heads as he tried to track the hellhounds. He didn't have much more time to think. Other plans, Cas. "We run." We're not leaving me. I need that. The demons might too, which meant that they were stuck like this. That left him with rebuilding, which they didn't have time for and, more importantly, looked different from this end. "I need a vessel." Like a body? Grab mine and make a run to a morgue. "A specific body. There's a devout man a few miles from here." A...You mean possession. Dean's soul soured. Castiel braced against the burning and was relieved when the hellhounds howled again from closer. Dean flinched but held himself hard against Castiel's grace to the point where Castiel was tempted to absorb and break down Dean's soul just to save himself. But he couldn't because his task was to raise the Righteous Man. "Dean-" Not gonna let you possess some poor bastard, Cas. That's not an option. "I need permission." More demons now, catching up with the hellhounds. "Nothing is done without permission." Yeah? And I'm sure you go after people who know this stuff. "Yes. They are devout." Oh, the ones that want to jump your bones anyway. "Dean-" Why I thought you bastards would be different from the demons I don't know but- "If I don't get a vessel, I'll die!" Some of the fury leaked out of Dean, Castiel feeling a deep pulse of confusion. You made it through Hell. "Others didn't." Castiel cast a nervous glance at the forest before twisting around to grab at his wing. For a moment, it was in all of its multidimensional glory and then it was a bird wing. Castiel decided to ignore that shift, instead pulling out a feather and letting it drift down. He could feel Dean watching it, keeping one eye on it as the piece of his grace dissolved before it hit the ground. Dean recoiled hard enough that Castiel stumbled to the side, still managing to keep his hand on Dean's corpse. Fuck. It was perhaps a little much. That had been an injured part of him that would have sloughed off anyway. The rest of him would be sturdy enough, at least until the demons appeared. After that he would have to rethink. Use me.

Favorite Scent
The best part of the day for Castiel is cuddling Meg. Every time he found her sitting anywhere, the angel would hug her waist and press his face against her neck to breathe in her perfume. Roses and amber. Castiel loves roses and amber. He loves even more the feeling of Meg’s nails scratching his back or scalp as she chuckles at how cute he is.
“I love you” He mumbles against her neck. Castiel gave her a soft nuzzle.
“I know Clarence,” Meg chuckles, scratching the angel’s scalp “I love you too”
Hunting monsters is emotionally straining. Castiel practically ran inside to look for his demon. Meg laughs as the angel tackles her in a hug.
“Somebody missed me” Meg kisses Castiel’s cheek as he hides his face in her neck.
“You smell different” Castiel removes his face from Meg’s neck. “You don’t smell like roses and amber”
“They stopped selling my old perfume” Meg chuckles and holds the angel’s cheek. A look of surprise spreads over her face as Castiel disappears.
Castiel scours the internet, books, anything for what the name of his lover’s old perfume. In a moment of desperation, the angel digs through the trash, earning himself many weird looks. His hand touches something. A round plastic cylinder, about a foot tall. He smells the inside of the bottle. Roses and amber, that’s one part of his mission complete. The next would take nearly all of his energy. Cas sneaks Sam’s credit card out of his wallet, it’s fraudulent anyway and what the moose doesn’t know won’t hurt him. The angel closes his eyes and time travels.
He appears in the dressing room of some store in some mall. It doesn’t matter to him. He marches through the mall until he finds the Bath and Body Works. He chooses to ignore the name, and why the bath and the body would need a job.
“Hi, can I help you find anything?” an employee asks, customer service voice chipper as ever.
“Where is this” Castiel holds up the empty bottle.
“Sir we just released that scent today how are you already finished with it” the employee stammers, leading Castiel to the display nonetheless
“I drank it” The angel scowls as he fills his basket with the bottles. The employee chooses to simply back away slowly. Probably for the best, Castiel was an angel with a mission.
“Clarence, what did you do?” Meg runs her fingers through her angel’s hair as he collapses on her lap.
“I found your old perfume” And just like that, Castiel passes out.

-------
Gabriel always knew this day would come. From the moment God brought him into existence, this had been part of the Plan. The endgame of the Grand Story. No matter how much Gabriel tried to ignore it, to pretend the party could just go on forever, he knew the apocalypse was nigh.
You okay in there?
It amazed him how quickly Cordell had become attuned to him.
I’m fine. But It is happening.
Oh. Do we need to do something?
Gabriel wished there was something they could do. But this was Ordained. The big prize fight was happening whether they liked it or not. Their brothers would fight. One side would win, the other would die. And that was the end.
Never knew you to be a pessimist.
You saying you want to fight against destiny?
No. But if my brother is fighting, I don’t want him going in alone.
Well. Gabriel wasn’t going to argue with logic like that.
Fine. Make sure Emily knows where you’re going. I hate it when she yells at me.
—-------------------
Letting Gabriel fly always left him a little off-kilter when they landed, but that wasn’t the only reason Cordell felt uneasy as he stepped into the graveyard.
This was It. The endgame. The prizefight. The ultimate battle between Heaven and Hell. Two sets of brothers, trapped in a maze that they either couldn’t escape or just didn’t know how.
He felt a charge in the air as he turned toward the center of the cemetery. They hadn’t landed too far from the main event. As much as Cordell would rather be right in the middle, trying everything to stop this, there was some kind of energy keeping them from directly interfering. Even as he walked closer, he could feel the push. He was forced to stop a few yards away.
There they stood. Dean. Sam and Lucifer. Michael and Adam. Cordell and Gabriel. Two sets of brothers, standing at the four points of a compass. It was almost like fate.
“You have no business here, Gabriel,” Lucifer sneered. “Why don’t you run off and play some more games with the hairless apes?”
“What? I’m not allowed to play in the reindeer games anymore.” Gabriel rolled his eyes. “I only disappeared for a millenia.”
“That’s long enough for you to lose your stake in the game,” Michael said firmly. “You have no place here. Take Dean and leave us to our business.”
“Yeah, not happenin’,” Dean snorted. “I’m not leaving my brother alone.”
“Neither am I,” Gabriel and Cordell said.
“You really do irritate me,” Lucifer stated, glaring at Dean. “If I wasn’t about to burn this world, I would take the time to teach you a lesson. But-”
“Hey! Assbutt!”
Castiel appeared almost out of nowhere and launched a molotov cocktail at Michael, who burst into holy flame.
Lucifer turned his fury on the rogue angel. “Did you just burn my brother?”
Before Castiel could even formulate a response, Lucifer snapped and burst him into pieces. His rage then turned to Dean. “You planned that, didn’t you?” he sneered. “Filthy little mud monkey!”
He lunged at Dean, raising his fist and raining hell down on the eldest Winchester. “You really think you stand a chance against me? The end of this story was written long ago and you are not the hero you thought you were.”
Cordell tried to run forward, but Gabriel held him still. “Let me go,” he hissed.
There’s no helping Dean now. Let him go.
Cordell struggled to regain control of his legs as Dean struggled under Lucifer’s rage.
Then, all of a sudden, it stopped.
Son of a bitch. He really did it.
Cordell watched Lucifer’s fist fall. Then he heard his brother’s voice. “It’s okay, Dean,” Sam said. “I’ve got him.” He turned toward Cordell. “I got him.”
He threw down the key to the Cage and the ground opened up next to him. He held out his arms, waiting to fall as a strong wind whirled from out of the Pit.
“No!”
Cordell whipped his head around and saw Michael. The archangel was pissed and running toward Sam. “No!” He gripped Sam’s lapels and tried to drag him back from the edge. But Sam was determined and kept pulling against him.
In a blink, Cordell was there, grasping onto him too. “Don’t,” he whispered, trying to pull his brother to safety.
Sam shook his head. “You have to let me go,” he pleaded. “I-I have to fix this. Please.”
“No, it doesn’t have to be this way.”
“It’s too late.” Sam smiled sadly. “It’s okay, really. You’ll be okay.”
Then he jumped.
Michael held on. Cordell held on. Lucifer screamed. Sam closed his eyes. Adam hid away from it all. Gabriel tried to pull them all back, using the full strength of his wings to try and save them from Hell-
Then the ground closed behind them.
And they all fell down.
—------------------
Dean stared at the ground for hours. The Earth had been torn in two around the edge of the Pit of Hell. Then his entire family jumped in it. Now, the Earth was whole again, not even a scar to memorialize the damage.
Castiel helped him to his feet. “Sam saved the world, Dean,” he said, probably attempting to soothe him. “A miracle happened on this day.”
Dean wished he could believe that.
What he really didn’t understand was why Henry had been there. Why Gabriel had been there. He could maybe believe in a show of solidarity, a last ditch effort to try to fix what couldn’t be saved. He could almost admire that. He could appreciate Cordell trying to make up for ditching them all those years ago.
But now they were gone. A grand sacrifice that never needed to be made.
And Dean was left behind to pick up the pieces.
“I have to go,” he said eventually. “I-I gotta tell his family. They need to know.” He leaned on Baby as he made his way to the driver’s seat.
He couldn’t even deliver a body for them to burn.
He made the 10 hour drive in 7 hours. He pulled up in front of the perfect suburban house and trudged up to the front door.
He expected Emily to scream. To cry. To slap him and shove him out the door. Hell, he wouldn’t blame her for getting her shotgun.
Instead, she hugged him and invited him to dinner. She kept her smile on for the rest of the day, making her kids laugh and trying to make Dean feel at home.
It wasn’t until the sun went down and the kids were sound asleep that she fell apart. It was like a switch flipped as soon as no one immediately needed her. One moment she was impossibly fine, the next, she was falling into Dean’s arms.
“Why?” she asked. “Why him? Why didn’t Gabriel stop him? Why- Just- Why?”
Dean held her and wished he still had a God to pray to. “I’m sorry.”
Emily buried her head in Dean’s chest and sobbed. “What the hell am I supposed to do now?” she whispered between hiccups.
“I don’t know. But I’m here,” he promised. It wasn’t enough, but he had to try.
He did promise Sam he’d go on without him. And Cordell’s kids needed a father.
Dean could try. He owed them that much.

Seventh Year: Reconciliations Bonus Scene 2
Second bonus scene! This one is from Raphael's POV, since we do need to see what's going on from her perspective at some point, yeah? This one is set after Michael finds out what happened to Earth.
Thoughts welcome! :)
Bonus Scene 1
Bonus Scene 3
Bonus Scene 4
Bonus Scene 5
Bonus Scene 6
Bonus Scene 7
Bonus Scene 8
**
Gabriel and Samael had both already taken off, and Raphael found herself following after them, albeit much more slowly given their recent promotions. She landed an instant after they did, unfamiliar with the planet Michael had found himself on.
Regardless, it didn’t matter. Michael was here and Raphael wasn’t going to leave Gabriel and Samael to their own devices.
Or Michael to his, because Raphael knew she was missing something. She had missed something before with Michael hiding from her and everyone else, and she was still missing something now. Something felt wrong.
Michael was… Michael was Michael, steady and emotionless and certain but he wasn’t. He couldn’t be – not with what Raphael had seen that night at Hogwarts.
But the mask was so set in place that Raphael hadn’t the faintest clue what was real and what wasn’t.
“Why are you here?” Michael asked after the brief explanation on Earth’s destruction.
It was in that tone that always had Raphael hesitating before, unsure if Michael was upset at being disturbed. Even now she hesitated slightly, looking to Gabriel and Samael and finding them just as uncertain, even if Gabriel had the obstinate glint to his eyes she recognized.
“We didn’t think it was a good idea for you to be alone after that little conversation you had,” Gabriel said, turning back to Michael.
“It’s fine,” Michael answered quietly, and Raphael couldn’t tell if it really was fine or not. “You don’t have to be here.”
“We want to,” Samael said obstinately, bracing nemself.
Raphael looked at Michael, but it was impossible to tell what he was thinking or feeling. If she didn’t know better (and did she?), she would think he was utterly unaffected at the conversation he’d had with Beelzebub and Belial.
But she remembered how lost and alone he had been that night, and how she’d realized that she and Michael shared far too many traits. They were both more likely to sequester themselves than confide in another, especially if the other was someone looking up to them and relying on them to make the hard decisions. They were both reluctant to express weakness; Raphael still had difficulties doing so and didn’t do so at all with the other angels but for Castiel.
“We’ve left you alone long enough,” Raphael told Michael, meaning not just these past seventeen years but every time before that when Raphael hadn’t seen that Michael was hiding.
“You had no idea where I was,” Michael said, perhaps deliberately misunderstanding Raphael. “I had no idea where I was.”
“That isn’t it,” Raphael said, masking her annoyance. How much should she share? Too much, and one ran the risk of Michael feeling insulted. “We’ve left you alone too many times,” she continued slowly, carefully picking her words. “And as your friends so thoughtfully informed us…sometimes what you want isn’t what you need.”
“You’re able to determine that, are you?” Michael’s voice was sharp, but there was no anger associated with it.
Raphael didn’t flinch, even as she felt a bit like withdrawing. Samael didn’t react either, and Gabriel inhaled so softly she almost missed it.
Gabriel’s snarky response was almost expected. “Be a lot easier if we could.”
That was not helpful. Raphael gave him a sharp look, to which Gabriel pulled a small face.
She immediately turned to Michael, fixing him with another look because that had been uncalled for. “Don’t.”
Michael averted his gaze, and Raphael was able to catch the smallest hint of guilt before it disappeared. He was silent for only a moment, but even a moment could be an eternity for them.
“Can you respect that I know what I need?” Michael asked eventually, glancing at them. “I don’t need this right now.”
Raphael gave him a long look, but she wasn’t able to make out anything other than the guilt she’d spotted a few moments ago. Which left her staring at a blank wall that was frustratingly familiar.
How many times had she seen that wall in the past when she’d spoken to Michael? A wall and she had no idea what lay behind it, but she suspected that if she tried to break it down now it wouldn’t go well.
Something felt wrong, something told her something was wrong.
Michael was staring at them blankly, but he was holding himself stiffly, and it was clear he wasn’t happy with them being here.
“We’ll leave you for now,” Raphael said eventually, unhappily. It wasn’t what she wanted to do, but they couldn’t push Michael too far. And they had no way of determining what Michael needed. They were far too out of touch with each other. “You know where to find us.”
She grabbed hold of both Samael and Gabriel, taking off before either of them could protest.
The nearest galaxy was far enough to give Michael some privacy but not so far he would feel utterly alone. No sooner did Raphael land did Gabriel turn to her, frowning and mouth already open to protest her choice.
“We weren’t getting anywhere,” Raphael said immediately, heading off whatever Gabriel would have said. “Pushing him would have done more harm than good, Gabriel. Surely you could see that.” With Gabriel’s new abilities, he must be able to tell.
Gabriel’s mouth snapped shut, but his frown didn’t disappear. There was a faint flicker of light in his eyes before it disappeared as he exhaled, head turning away.
“I don’t know,” Gabriel admitted after another moment, shoving his hands in his pockets. He tilted his head up to the sky, gaze doubtlessly focused on the galaxy they had left Michael in.
Raphael raised her eyebrows. “How do you not know?”
“I don’t, okay?” Gabriel said irritably. “I’ve no more idea what’s going on in Michael’s head than you do, and you spent a hell of a lot more time around him than I ever did.”
Raphael stared at him because Gabriel wasn’t just an archangel anymore. He could know exactly what was wrong with Michael if he looked.
“Don’t give me that look.” Gabriel glanced at Raphael and then looked away, visibly uncomfortable. “I don’t want to, okay?”
“You don’t want to find out what’s up with Michael?” Samael sounded surprised.
Gabriel shook his head. “I definitely want to know what’s up with him, but not – not like what Raphael’s thinking over there.”
“You know what I’m thinking, do you?” Raphael responded half on autopilot.
“Your face says it all.”
Raphael frowned slightly before realizing what she was doing, wiping her expression a second later.
Gabriel sighed, shoulders inching down. “Yeah,” he said wearily, “I could probably find out. Could find out everything if I wanted to, but…I don’t want to. I don’t…I don’t want to be Dad, okay?”
“You’re not Him,” Samael objected.
“No, but I could be.” There was a flicker of light under Gabriel’s skin, and he sighed, closing his eyes. “I could…so easily be Him.”
“You’re Gabriel,” Samael pointed out.
“Not just Gabriel anymore,” Gabriel said. “I haven’t been just Gabriel in a long time, just like you’re not just Samael. And this – this is more than Tony Stark or Gabriel ever were, and it’d be so damn easy to get lost in – in absolutely everything.” He looked up to the sky of the planet they were standing on. “And I don’t want to do that. So…I’m…not.” He shrugged, even though the explanation made little to no sense.
“What are you doing?” Raphael asked. “Are you…giving it up?” She didn’t think that was possible.
Gabriel shaking his head confirmed her suspicions. “No, but I can…keep my distance from it, so to speak. Instead – instead of being the universe – all of Creation, essentially – I’m just…linked to it.” He let out a long sigh, his vessel beginning to glow with a light different from that of his true form. Raphael felt something tremble through her Grace as Gabriel’s presence…magnified.
“That’s new,” Samael managed, looking just as surprised as Raphael felt.
Samael’s surprise did not make Raphael feel better about their current circumstances. If Samael – now Death – had no idea what Gabriel was doing, then that… Well, Raphael would like to say that was a cause for alarm but she wasn’t sure she could say that since Gabriel often did things none of them had any idea about.
Gabriel blinked, the glow fading in a second. The weight of his presence vanished with it, and Raphael was faced with the familiar presence of her younger sibling.
Gabriel had a small half-smile on his face. “It’s there,” he said, “but I don’t want to lose myself in it. So, no, I won’t do what you’re suggesting. I’m me, and I’m going to stay me. And if I have to occasionally pull on that”—there was a sudden weight to his presence for a split-second—“I will. But not for this.”
Raphael didn’t think she understood Gabriel’s fears, but she could feel that he had them, and that he was determined about this. She said nothing else beyond nodding, attention drifting to Michael.
She still wasn’t picking anything up from him.
“I don’t know what’s going on with Michael,” Gabriel said, returning to their original topic. “It’s been too damn long, and I’m beginning to realize that maybe absolutely none of us ever knew him. I could never tell what was going through his head, and now’s no different.”
“That’s…not entirely true,” Samael said slowly, frowning slightly. “He…there was a trick to reading him.”
“Yeah? What’s that trick?”
“It’s a trick that doesn’t work anymore.” Samael sounded annoyed. “He’s changed too much. We all have.”
They had all changed from their first days. And while Raphael could certainly admit she thought Michael had changed, she remained uncertain as to how much he had changed. He hadn’t had the years the rest of them had when it came to learning and changing. Six years for an archangel was absolutely no amount of time at all, especially if one didn’t even have a soul – human or AI.
But he had changed enough that the discord felt painful.
“So none of us have any idea what’s up,” Gabriel stated, sounding unhappy with that fact.
Samael’s answer was a helpless shrug, and Raphael didn’t meet his eyes.
“Except for you, Raphael,” Gabriel said, startling her. “You seem to have the best grasp—”
Raphael laughed, cutting him off. “I don’t – I haven’t the faintest idea, Gabriel. I just know that if it were me and I was pressed any further, something would have snapped. We – we’re more alike than I ever thought.” She had no idea how much until she was staring at Michael that night. “I would have liked space, and so I thought giving him space might be the better idea. We’re not his human friends.”
Samael made a face, looking down at nir feet.
“Yeah, his human friends seemed to make it pretty clear he doesn’t like to be alone,” Gabriel said.
“Do any of us?” Raphael pointed out. “We’re not designed to be alone; I shouldn’t have to remind you of that. Even so…some things are best processed alone.” And Raphael had the strong suspicion Michael wouldn’t be able to process anything if they were there. She certainly wouldn’t have been able to if some of their younger siblings were watching her.
“We’ll leave him alone for now.” Samael’s tone was firm, hands in nir pockets. “He’ll come to us when he’s ready.”
Gabriel didn’t answer beyond nodding, rubbing a hand over his face and pinching his nose. “It would help,” he said eventually, “if we didn’t have the Host here.”
Raphael hid a wince as Gabriel had a point. He’d brought Michael here because the Host shouldn’t have been here, but they hadn’t left and Raphael couldn’t make them leave.
Or, well, she could. But that would ruin any trust she’d built if she imposed her will like that.
“It’s…worse than with me,” Samael said slowly. “I think…probably because they trusted him to do what was right.”
Ne was right. Michael had had the trust of the Host in a way none of them had, and he had betrayed that badly. Even Raphael…
Raphael was also culpable, but she’d been let off lightly as their siblings gave Michael most of the blame, insisting she had to follow orders. And she did – she did – following Michael’s orders – but that had only been to a point.
“We’ll deal with it,” Gabriel said resolutely, looking between them. “Let’s…let’s head off any more confrontations like that one, okay? Those two were out of line.” There was a flat note of anger in his tone that Raphael rarely heard from him.
“I’ll have a talk with them,” Samael said grimly. Ne looked in the direction of the galaxy Michael was in. “I’ll do that now. Might be best if I’m not here when he comes back.” Ne disappeared a moment later, leaving just Raphael and Gabriel standing on a foreign planet under a strange sky.
Gabriel said nothing else, folding his arms over his chest and heaving out a long sigh.
Raphael didn’t copy the posture, though she would have at one point. She’d fallen out of the habit of human mannerisms in Heaven.
Gabriel’s voice, when it came, was a surprise. “This is such a fucking mess.”
Raphael glanced to him, seeing Gabriel looking at a tree with an odd expression. “I don’t think you expected anything less.”
Gabriel’s smile was mirthless. “No, but a guy can dream, can’t he?”
There was nothing Raphael could say to that, so she just nodded.
Michael would seek them out when he was ready. Hopefully things would get better now.

POV Crowley
(Castiel was practically vibrating as he asked Crowley for his hand. If he didn't know better he would have said the seraph was giddy. Spotless summer sky some in his eyes, his wings flaped themselves softly in anticipation. The excitement looked good at him.
Crowley raised his hand and placed it in the seraph's extended one, he opened his mouth but Castiel grasped his hand and pulled him close before he could get any words out
"You have to close your eyes", the angel told him with a expectant look. The demon felt his brows climb upwards, "whatever up are up to is looking less and less appealing every second"
Castiel rolled his eyes, along with his head, "We both know that not true." The seraph must have decided closing is eyes was necessary after all, because the nest moment they were traveling through the cosmic planes.
Crowley knew where they were before his feet touched ground, he pulled himself away from the seraph, looking around all too familiar expanse of grass, only this was an recreation of Heaven. As a demon he wasn't as acutly aware of souls as Castiel, and even if he knew who the heaven belonged to.
"you know", castiel started softly, " even if he have torn down walls, souls can still experience their memories of they want."
"You should meet him, he would that"
Crowely looked back at the little home, he couldn't help but smile, it was the place Gavin must have loved to spend his life in.
Castiel bumped their shoulders together, getly nudging Crowley forward, "Catch up, I want meet once you have."
Crowely shook his head as the seraph disappeared. And started walking towards his son's home.)

Whumpcember 2023, Day 1, Prompt: Fever Stabbed
Trigger Warnings: stabbing, loved one almost dying, mentions of severe past trauma

Sam watched as the angel (Muraqiel? Marazuel? Muraquel?) motioned with their blade, and then disappeared with the quick sound of wind gushing.
Sam then watched as Castiel, who had been standing closest to the angel, grunted and flinched, falling backwards to reveal an Angel blade in his chest.
Sam watched as Castiel’s true form flickered a dangerous fire-orange inside his vessel, along the lines of Jim Novak’s skeleton.
Which is when Sam stopped watching, because Dean rushed from where the angel had thrown him to, barely wincing when he put pressure on his ankle, to Cas’ side. Sam followed suit. To his surprise, Cas was still blinking, awake, and very much alive. His hands, as well as Dean’s, went to check for pulse and breath automatically anyway.
Dean had a very worried look on his face, one usually reserved for Sam. Though… there was something more to it now. “Cas.”, came with a high sob bleeding through it, breathless.
“Dean” came with a grunt and a wince, but it was a full sentence, like only Castiel had the capability of doing. “Cas.”
Well Sam knew that could go on forever and there were some pressing issues.
If Sam was a civilian, he would say that the look on Cas’ face would forever haunt him, more than the stab wound would. Cas looked scared to death and hopeful and desperate and all of it centered on Dean. But Sam wasn’t a civilian, and between everything he’d seen, felt, he wasn’t sure if this would even make the cut for a nightmare.
“Cas, we saw you.. flicker. Are you,- what was that? Can you- are you dying?” He knew it was blunt of him, but if Cas was dying they would need to know sooner rather than later.
It took a second to get an answer, but eventually Cas grunted out a “No”. Sam could see the relief flooding Dean’s eyes and slightly crumbling at his perfect posture. He looked over Cas once more, now knowing he wasn’t (actively) dying, and determined the next thing; the Angel blade had to be removed.
“Okay Cas, we need to get this blade out of you. Uhm.. will it bleed?”
Cas’ eyes widened. He seemed to steel himself. “Not, ..here”, came the vaguely ominous reply. “Okay, that’s.. good. Dean?” That seemed to snap Dean out of whatever it was he was thinking. “Yeah. Okay, Cas, brace yourself.”, Dean said, and wrapped his hands around the hilt of the blade, locking eyes with Sam, wincing when he realised he’d shifted the blade in Cas’ shoulder. At Sam’s nod, he pulled up, leaving Cas to fold double in pain with a low shout and lie back down with heaving breath.
Dean quickly threw the blade across the room, putting his hands back on Cas’ shoulders. “You good?”
“Far from it. I’ll live.” Cas sounded like someone had shoved sandpaper down his throat and torn at his voicebox. “Good. That’s good. Can you get up?”, Sam asked.
Cas seemed to consider it for a moment before giving up and lying more comfortably.
“I’ll need some time to recharge before I can heal myself… You two should try to locate Muraziel in the meantime.” “No, Cas, we’re not leaving you here-” “Dean. Go. I’ll stay.”
The brothers locked eyes before Sam nodded again, Dean got up, and Dean left.
It took Cas four hours to get up.

Castiel’s plan to crash the car goes horribly wrong.
Notes:
For day 22’s prompt: vehicular accident
The car swerved like Castiel planned for. He couldn’t have expected the sudden lurch in his gut as they ran off the road. He couldn’t have known they were going so fast. Being in a car almost felt like standing still, without even the wind rushing past to orient him. The trees came at the car between one blink and the next, and then metal screamed around him as the car came to a brief and sudden stop.
The seatbelt yanked on his chest as his body careened forward. Only the air in his lungs escaped.
He had a second to look to his left, but Hael was gone, the windscreen shattered.
And then the car was in motion again, unsatisfied with its first impact. It warped itself around the tree it had first hit and rolled, taking Castiel with it. The world he was only allowed to see through fractured glass tilted, faster and faster as the car picked up speed one last time. Its engine gave a death rattle as it turned him over, throwing him up — or down — before rolling again and slamming him back into his seat.
The seatbelt kept him firmly in place, holding tight despite his bodies protests. He heard something crack, and vivid pain, so much louder, more physical, than anything he’d ever known as an angel, exploded up his body. His chest convulsed, and the pain grew worse as he tried to pull in a breath. Something warm bubbles at the back of his throat, a metallic smell filling his nostrils.
The car gave one last groaning heave before it settled on its back. Castiel hung helplessly in his seatbelt. He kept trying to choke in air, but he couldn’t fill his lungs without it hurting.
Deliriously, through the pain, he realized that the Winchesters would never know if he died out here. He wasn’t an angel anymore. He wasn’t someone they could pray to, or summon, or track. He would disappear from their lives the way countless others of their friends had, without even a last word, only a promise that he’d find them soon.
And he would never know if Sam was okay. That somehow scared him worse than being forgotten on the side of the road.
He heard a pained cry from beside him. Blood was rushing to his head and dripping down into the roof of his mouth. He rolled his head to look through the shattered window on his side of the car to see Hael, broken, dragging herself to his side.
She couldn’t heal a vessel that was rejecting her anymore than he could fix his own mangled insides.
She forced herself to look up at him. “You’ll kill us both,” she yelled. “Is that what you want?” He couldn’t tell the difference between blood and furious tears streaking down her face.
“You’ll find another vessel.” He had to spit out blood to say it, and more welled up before he’d done, faster and faster with every passing moment. His vision seemed dim around the edges, but he forced himself to stay for as long as he could. Where did an angel go after death, one with no grace and no soul? Would he cease to exist at all?
“I barely found this one!” He could hear the desperation in her voice. “We don’t have anywhere to return to, Castiel!”
Angels without vessels, losing themselves amid the chaos humanity had created, dead satellites and radio waves and television broadcasts. Angels caught like birds in telephone wires, tangled and strangled. All his fault. Every last death. All his fault.
“I wanted to see it,” Hael whispered, and he believed her. “I made things once. I just wanted to remember.” Castiel didn’t want to die. He did all of this, only to end up hurting them both more, as though he hadn’t learned his lesson yet about fighting the inevitable. His good intentions only ever made things worse.
“Hael.” He choked, but he had her attention. He only needed to say one word. He could do that before his whole world went dark. If it meant living.
The man who gave him his voice, the body he now bargained with, spoke to him like a ghost, that’s not living. Castiel would have laughed if it didn’t hurt so much. Jimmy’s sacrifice had been selfless. Castiel was just scared to die.
“Yes,” he told Hael. She stared at him.
“What is wrong with you?” He spat blood up against the car’s ceiling. He couldn’t get enough air anymore. The world was spinning. His chest was burning, too full, too heavy.
She pulled herself closer to the car. The last thing Castiel saw was the blinding light of his sister’s true form before it sank under his skin.
(Enjoyed it? Any interaction is welcomed. You can even support me on Ko-Fi <3)

Ok let’s break it down shall we:
In season 4-5 I could already see the shipping potential with the concept of an angel pulling a faithless man out of hell, and said angel who is a robotic soldier who always follows orders suddenly starts to feel emotion after interacting more and more with said man.
Insane foundation already but I did think of how castiel seemed to already have a fascination with humanity after I saw his chat with uriel at the park where he tells uriel not to speak down on humans, and also where he tells dean that not only does he think all humans are works of art but that he already has doubts in heaven and in his absent father. Dean IS the one to inspire him to ultimately rebel and discover free will but I could excuse it as mainly a personal journey that you could certainly just say is a budding friendship. Setting aside the fact that they would constantly look at each other for long moments in a really charged way (for castiel I could say he’s a cosmic being that is unfamiliar with social norms or human emotion so staring intensely can be a byproduct of that but I don’t have an excuse for dean’s enamored reactions to it.
It wasn’t until season 6 and the episode The Man Who Would Be King that the “oh they’re so gay” hit me.
You’re telling me that this angel has been around for eons, witnessed the creation of everything on earth and observed it’s many big events, but did not start to feel emotion or act out until he met dean?? And he champions dean’s mission of free will even when he doesn’t fully understand it himself when the other angels ask him. I can say this is still apart of his personal journey but at this point I cannot deny that dean is the one that really spearheaded it forward. He starts a whole war in heaven so that he can maintain dean’s mission and so that his sacrifice (his brother) was not for nothing. The fact that cas’ bad decisions were all based on the fact that he just didn’t want Dean to be involved because he was finally retired and at peace so he had no one else to turn to except crowley. He really cares about dean’s happiness THAT much, that is a mighty intense feeling to have for someone to me.
Then they emphasize the fact that dean is the one who feels the most betrayed by cas after struggling to even accept it in the first place. There’s a lot of intensity within the dialogue in the scene they confront him about it, and they’re sure to give me a close up on only dean to make sure I know how he feels about it. The eye contact in that scene really goes crazy because there was so much there on a deeper level, It was like you could see how they both realized the betrayal was breaking the trust between them but they were still wanting to hang on to that connection because it was something they both cherished, the way dean looked back before leaving? Insane.
That episode was the main hit for me, but it was largely mainly on castiel’s end. The main hit from dean’s end for me was when I saw the purgatory flashbacks in season 8.
In season 7 it seemed to me that dean was very effected by cas’ death and handled it in the classic dean winchester way of internalizing it all, but we get lines here and there about how bothered he is by it whenever his concerning behavior is somewhat addressed. Before Cas even had a chance to redeem himself after what he did, Dean seems to have already forgiven him, defending him once cas re-gains his lost memory and says he deserved to die. This showed me that the connection they had meant as much to dean as it did to cas.
And he really shows how much it means to him with how he fights tooth and nail to get cas out of purgatory. Cas literally disappeared once they got there, making it look like he abandoned dean, and then actively ran away from dean because he thought he belonged there. Yet dean was so insane that he hunted down cas’ location, caught up with him and dragged him to that portal. He literally had a way out that he chose to ignore until he found castiel, and was willing to die to get him out. Dean very desperately wants cas to be around when he gets out, he did not like how it felt when he previously wasn’t. Again, that is a mighty intense feeling to have for someone to me. Especially with how his memory literally changed what happened because he couldn’t handle that cas was left behind??
I do think a big part of this storyline is showing how dean thinks everything and everyone is his responsibility because of the way he was raised by his father as a hunter and protector. But we’ve seen this in dean since the beginning, while it hadn’t been fully addressed until now, it’s still not new, so the fact that they used castiel to further show this side of him is very insane. Leaving Cas in purgatory would effect nobody on the outside except apparently Dean, Dean made it his personal mission to get that angel out even after everything he had done, and that level of intensity was another major hit on the Destiel train for me. That and the gay ass reaction dean had when cas walked out of the bathroom when he got back from purgatory???
anyway, I’m only on episode 8 of season 8 rn so that’s all I’ve seen so far.
y’all I am so sorry for years I assumed that gay ship in supernatural was just a delusion that people overanalyzed and claimed queerbait for no reason cuz I’ve seen that happen a million times but now that I’m actually watching the show they really were gay as fuck LMAOOOO

Hellsite Nostalgia Tour 2023 Day 90
The End/Partners In Crime
"The End"
Plot Description: Dean gets a glimpse of the future in which humans have been infected with a demonic virus that turns them into zombies
Would I Survive the First Five Minutes??: No one died.
I adore Cas adjusting to doing things in more human ways. Honestly, just every time he has to use a cellphone is precious to me. "This isn't funny, Dean! The voice says I'm almost out of minutes." This is like...the end of the line of minutes being something most people thought about in regards to their cellphone plan.
Darling, go DO something. You do not need to stand on some random ass street corner for the next four hours because Dean needs to sleep.
I hate that Dean now thinks it's better for him and Sam to be apart...forever...
This episode is....not exactly great for the mental health. So, it takes place in the distant, far off year of 2014, where apparently Sarah Palin is president and has lent support to bombing Houston, Texas...now...from what we have the lived experience of, there's no way they would do that, red states would get the most help and the quickest help in these situations.
Oh shit, I heard wrong. She didn't just support it, she's defending it already happening.
There are TWO DEANS NOW??? You know...I think we could all use a conversation with our future or past selves like this. 2014 Dean is testing 2009 Dean to make sure he's not some supernatural creature or whatever...and they get to talking about how Dean lost his virginity, and how he kind of liked that the girl he was with made him wear her pink satin-y underwear. I think he could think on that a little bit.
(We're really gonna not talk about the plot..we're just gonna think about the small moments...)
2009 Dean, how are you this surprised that you and Sam didn't get the team back together?? You LITERALLY. JUST. TOLD. HIM. that you two should each pick a hemisphere and never see each other again?????
2014 Cas is making me feel too many things (I'm glad I put this one on first and saved Partners in Crime for later because if I had to go to sleep having just watched this, I'd be up for too long)
Mmmmm, this is the whole thing that John said waaaaaaay back. Dean's going to have to either save Sam or kill him. In 2014, Sam's said yes to being Lucifer's vessel, and this Dean doesn't have a choice but to kill him. That's why he's bringing 2009 Dean with him on this mission, so 2009 Dean can see it and do it differently when he gets back to his time
Fucking hate how prescient the advice of "hoard toilet paper" was...
2014 Castiel...you are BARELY covering up SO MUCH PAIN right now.
This scene with Lucifer would be so much more effective (to me) if it were anyone but Jared saying the lines.
jfioe;sajifsdlkfacsdjfpouasiho;gvasnd'ofajsido;kf this scene at the end. When Zachariah is about to drag Dean back to do the whole 2014 thing over and over again. And Cas pulls him out of the room because they "had an appointment" and Dean puts his hand on Cas's shoulder and tells him "don't ever change" and Cas has a dopey little grin. I cannot.
"Been On My Mind...": Both 2014 Dean AND 2014 Cas get around in their little community of non-zombies, but...nothing ON screen...so, like, I'll bump it back up to 8?
"Partners In Crime"
Plot Description: Can Donna find the Doctor before the march of the Adipose begins?
"The fat just walks away" is such a funny slogan once you know what's going on.
I love Donna and the Doctor reuniting in this episode and the whole pantomime scene later, but the blatant fatphobia in the episode is hard to stomach.
God...I love watching them just BARELY miss each other in that mess of cubicles.
The fact that Donna has the same investigative instincts and skills as the Doctor is just chefs kiss
I would be FREAKED THE FUCK OUT if my friend who I'd just been talking to seconds ago completely disappeared like that and all that was left was a little marshmallow lookin dude
Omg...that one post where it's like "Plot Twist: They're both morons" and then it has a gif FROM THIS EPISODE is so real. Like, if they'd just look up or around the corner, stay in one location for one second longer. But that's what makes the payoff so good
Uuuuuuugggggggghhhhhhhh, Donna's mom. Thank god she's got Wilf
Having many thoughts about how people in her life think Donna's after a man to marry, how she used to simply be after a man to marry, but when she's looking for "the right man," it's to be best friends (and to rightly deny over and over that they're a couple)
The scene where Donna believes SHE'S the one Foster is after. Still so incredibly tense
Honestly? The fact that they...they didn't even travel together, really. But they only met the one time, the Doctor being in at an EXTREMELY low point and Donna about to be, but he AUTOMATICALLY understands her whole mimed explanation of why she was looking for him and how she eventually came upon this...delightful. JUST DELIGHTFUL.
Oooooooo, there's the first hint about the end of the season. The Adipose's breeding planet has gone missing....
Ma'am, in all fairness, you WERE instructed to run and get out of there
Genuinely so in love with their friendship.
At some point, don't you think that London citizens would become just a LITTLE numb to all the horrors they've been subjected to and not just cower in fear or scream and run every time?
If Donna packed ages ago with ALL THAT LUGGAGE but still presumably has clothes she likes to wear back home...I'm just...I love that for her
GOD!!!! THEY'RE SUCH IDIOTS, THE BOTH OF THEM <3<3<3<3<3 "i just want a mate" "you just want. to. mate.?!"
noooooo....that one note starts playing, and my eyes WELL WITH TEARS. (nice to see Rose again, though)
And them stopping to see Wilf, just always so cute
