How would these volley boys make as a father! (especially kenma, tsukki and noya) and you can add your favs too 💕sjsjjsjs hope you have a great day ahead!
I'm doing okay, I hope you are doing good and that you have a nice day! I hope you enjoy this post and it is to your liking
Them as fathers
Characters: Kenma, Noya, Tsukki Gender neutral reader, it is not mentioned whether the children are adopted or biological, Kenma’s is longer than the others because i had way too many ideas for him
Kenma Kozume
Tumblr media
First things first: I don’t think Kenma would have more than one kid, if you really wanted to have more he would relent but he is perfectly happy with just one, he thinks 3 people is the perfect number for your little family.
You may think he wouldn’t be that involved in his kids life, but that is a big misconception,
No matter how much work he has to do he makes sure to spend time with you and your kid.
Kenma would never show his child on the internet in any way, he wants to keep his private life private and keep his child safe, he knows how cruel the internet can be, no way in hell will he put his young child into that kind of situation.
Once your child learned to crawl he brought the three starters of Pokémon black and white (gen 5 best games I don’t take criticism) to see which one your child would choose.
Based on what they chose he will be sulky or proud. (I nearly made this into Oshawott propaganda but I didn’t you’re welcome). But at the end of the day he knows that they just choose one based on colours and shapes, he would teach them once they are older how to perfectly choose a starter.
Best believe that as soon as your kid is old enough to understand things he will show them all kinds of (age appropriate) video games.
You enter his gaming room with some snacks for him and you can just see him play Slime Rancher as your kid sits in his lap, eyes glued to what their father is doing.
He already has started a Stardew Valley coop farm for you three to play together one day, he is just waiting for the day your child is old enough.
Now enough video game talk, (though I have so many more ideas about this lol) your child loves it when Kenma reads to them before they sleep, his voice is very soothing to them.
Once they are asleep Kenma stays at their side a bit longer, watching them sleep a serene smile on his face.
Kenma can’t say no to your kid, he will buy them anything they want. You sometimes wonder how he can be so responsible with his money in any other situation, but your child just needs to point at something and he will buy it for them unless you intervene.
Lastly, be prepared for Kenma and your kid to team up against you. Board games? Yeah they are a team even if the game isn’t a game for teaming up. (Monopoly is a nightmare with them, Oh you need a red? Too bad your kid and Kenma are trading it between one another instead of giving it to you) But you can’t really seem to mind when you see the way Kenma and your kid smile. (Unless you are like me and are fiercely competitive in games then you may want to strike Kenma down)
Yu Nishinoya
Tumblr media
Noya would take longer to have children with you, at least until he is done travelling, he does want kids but is aware that travelling the world with them wouldn’t be ideal, he wants them to have a stable home.
Once you two do have kids, he wants at least 2 or 3. Noya wants a big family.
I feel like he is the type of Dad that throws his kids in the air and then catches them (he won’t do it high) and it always gives you a heart attack.
Instead of reading them good night stories he always tells them (embellished) stories from when he travelled the world, for example he once exclaimed to one of your kids how a mermaid vied for your attention but he fought them heroically off.
This does bite him in the ass years down the line once your kids are teens, they will bring these stories up whenever they can to tease him.
Asahi is basically an uncle to your kids, he often visits you and brings the kids many gifts. He loves to spoil them.
And yes Asahi designs the clothes for your kids as well, it often leads to many people asking you and Noya where you got the clothes for them from since they are such a high quality.
Yes, he will teach your kids “Rolling thunder”. No you can’t stop him. Even if your kids don’t play Volleyball they will still know the move.
This leads to your kids looking for his old jersey’s from highschool, putting them on and pretending to  be their dad. No he is not crying, he just got dust in his eye.
Vacations and holidays are important to Noya, while he can’t travel the world with your kids, he will take them on memorable vacations across the country when they are old enough to remember them.
He wants them to have a happy and fulfilled childhood with as many experiences as they can have.
Kei Tsukishima
Tumblr media
When you first brought up having children with him he asked “Are you sure you can take care of a child? Don’t you wanna practise with a pet rock first?” You lightly punched him in the chest for that and he had his signature smirk on his face.
He is honestly neutral on the aspect of having kids, he is not against it but also it was never his dream of having them, so he is fine with whatever you want.
Just like Kenma he would probably only have one kid, with his Job as a Volleyballplayer and everything he isn’t home that often, so if you had more than one kid he would feel guilty leaving you home alone with them.
Tsukki is probably the first one from Karasuno to have a kid, so he is smug about the fact that he is ‘better’ than the others in that regard.
The first team reunion after you two had your child will have him holding his child proudly, while he tells all the others how slow they are for not having kids yet, which has everyone rolling their eyes. He is very proud of his kid so that he will hold it up Lion King style so everyone can admire it.
Unluckily though he miscalculated the height of the ceiling and bonked your kids head on it, which left everyone in the room in a stunned silence (True story from my infant days, my dad did this exact thing with me)
You had made him change every diaper for 2 weeks for the heart attack he gave you with that, even if your kid was fine and wasn’t hurt.
Tsukki and you switch every night who is going to read your kid, while you pick different topics every time, he only ever chooses dinosaur stories to read to your kid.
Speaking of dinosaurs, Tsukki once claimed he had to educate your kid on certain things while you went out grocery shopping, when you came back you saw that the thing he was educating your child on was “The land before time” which made you smile.
Now no matter if the child is biologically yours or adopted, it somehow interhits his sass, which means you will be surrounded by two sassy little pieces of shit (affectionate).
Though you get both of them to calm down their sass by offering them some strawberry cake if they stop, it surprisingly works better on Tsukki then on your kid, who would have thought?

hello!! I loved your rooftop smoke fic so much oh my goodness could I ask for literally anything hoshina I would love to read more of your works... It would make my day if hoshina fell first/if he was the one hopelessly in love but anything that is easier to write for you I would love to read
ALSO PLS FEEL FREE TO IGNORE THIS IF ITS NOT EXACTLY IT FOR U!!! TYSM IN ADVANCE
notes: bwahhhh omg… thank you for liking my first work…  i havent written hoshina before… but uh. i hope this is good. same reader-insert from last time for this one too!
hoshina falls first (or tries not to, because to love is to be known)
soshiro hoshina x gn!reader i turned it into kind of a character study, forgive me word count: 1103
let’s get this right off the bat, to clear any misconceptions. hoshina’s not a romantic. he doesn’t fall for anyone first. he’s built up the demeanor of a sly, wily little fox not because he wanted to, but because he had to. tread lightly around others, and they will never know what lies in your heart, the insecurities that bubble and eat at you alive. never let them know how you feel, because as soon as your inherent, weak-willed intent is shown, you’ll be devoured alive.
well.
that’s what hoshina tells himself, anyway.
it’s what he has to remind himself of constantly when he sees you.
you’re not allowed, he reminds himself, to get under his skin. not in any mean way, not in the way where you play up his insecurities–except you do, don’t you? you don’t mean to, but he gets the impression that if he were conventionally stronger, more impressive, that he’d deserve your attention, the small smile that crosses your lips and lights up your eyes when you see him, the faint exhale of breath when you see him–he’d deserve that if he were better. if he were just simply better, he’d deserve it. he’d feel worthy of it.
hoshina’s not a romantic.
he signed up for a line of very dangerous, practically suicidal work knowing it might mean the death of him.
all to prove that he was worth something.
he’s not the ashes you throw away, he’s a brilliant ball of fire, can’t you see–but he needed to prove that he could shine alone, under his own merit. he didn’t need anyone, except he needed mina to get him into the third division anyway.
he didn’t need you, except he kept making excuses to get close to you, and not even in any particular suave way. hoshina practically pines for your affections and attention, but the key thing about it is that he refuses, in a way that’s either very cute or insanely frustrating, to make it seem like he’s making the first move. fleeting kisses he shared with you, he never properly initiated himself–he’d stand there, make a big show of leaving, and you’d pulled him by the collar to kiss him.
but at the very least you seem to be accommodating about it, in any case. you sometimes end up preparing him a cup of tea when you go on break, as if instinctually expecting him.
hoshina wonders if he’s pavlov’s dog in this case–drawn by you, trained to behave around you.
he doesn’t know how he feels about it.
“you keep coming here,” you say to him one day in the lab. at your desk is a wide variety of papers–notes on chemical formulas for bullets, the blueprints for one of mina’s new absurdly-large guns shoved haphazardly under a stack of notebooks, a coffee cup clasped between your hands, and you blow some of the fresh steam off. “i’m starting to think the captain’s going to find you slacking off.”
there’s a sardonic smile on your lips, but hoshina’s gotten better at reading you. you’re happy to see him–he can see it in the tiny way you fidget a little bit when he takes the spare coffee mug from your desk, finding it full of coffee already. does he feel his face softening, his drawn-up shoulders relaxing? no, surely not. he’s better than that. he won’t be influenced by you–and yet. and yet.
“you have a lock on your door if you don’t want to be disturbed,” hoshina says simply, taking a sip of the coffee. black with a single spoonful of sugar in it, because as much as it was impressive to drink your coffee purely black, hoshina quite frankly couldn’t take it. and he’d built as much a complex around that, too, as if a simple coffee preference might define how worthy he is of love. respect. the works. he watches you, sees dark under-eyes from days of restless work and the writer’s bump on your middle finger, and feels his heart squeeze.
god, he hates it. does he? does he hate it? is he insecure about that? does he hate that he doesn’t hate it? does he hate that by pining for you, by forcing his way into your life, that he’s created the rumblings of his own downfall? no. the worst part of it all is that he can’t hate you. can’t hate the way you watch him, and he wonders if you’re watching him the same way he observes you–like a prey animal, almost, twitchy and nervous, in an attempt to grasp at feeble understanding.
“if you keep coming back here, i’m going to assume you’re in love with me,” you say.
and you have no idea what those words do to him, really. you don’t know, because hoshina has learned to obscure most of his emotions, at the very least.
so why does his face feel so hot?
“hm.”
he can’t even come up with a proper retort. you’re staring at him expectantly, as if waiting for the classic hoshina quip–a cackle or giggle, a casual slap on the table with a you wish! attached to it. but it doesn’t come. hoshina stands there, gagged for a moment–and suddenly his grip on his coffee cup feels a little weak.
“hoshina.”
he wishes the smile on your lips didn’t trigger some gut instinct of delight in him.
he’s better than this, damn it. he’s better than this.
your smile quirks up the corners of your cheeks, and there’s something like a shy flush across your skin. and–
“i wish i could take a picture of your face right now,” you say. “you look like you’re coming down with something.”
hoshina scoffs, the sound a little more high-pitched than he’d like for it to be.
“you wish,” he says.
“so are you?” you press. “in love with me?”
hoshina stares at you–there’s a sudden tightness in your shoulders that wasn’t there before–you’re worried about his answer. and despite it all–his bravado, his hatred of the mere idea that he might rely on someone else–that he would ever need someone to know his heart, that he might be cowed and tamed like a dog–
he loves you.
he doesn’t want you to be worried about the surety of his answer.
“yeah,” he says. “i love you.” and when that sudden tightness in your body language disappears, he finally finds the strength to quip, “just don’t faint over me, alright?”
and when you reach out to hit his shoulder, he grasps you by the wrist and pulls you in to kiss you.

It seems like there's some common misconceptions about Eddie's time in the army, which is understandable because the show is very vague about it. And I think there’s still a bit of this outdated idea of the pregnant wife waving her handkerchief from the porch as her husband goes off to the front lines, and then he comes back years later to their six year old child he’s never met.
Which is very much not the case.
So some quick definitions: Enlistment is not the same as deployment.
Enlistment: The eight year contract during which a person is employed as a servicemember of the armed forces. The clock starts after basic training. The minimum is two years active duty, followed by six as a reservist. Four years active would be followed by four years as a reservist, six active would mean two in the reserves.
Deployment (tour): a time period where personnel are sent from the base where they’re stationed to a theater of operations (not always warzones). Most deployments in the US Army are about a year or less, with time at home between to decompress and reintegrate into everyday life.
Not everyone who enlists gets deployed or even leaves the US. Even fewer see combat. This depends entirely on what’s needed and also on units; individual soldiers don’t get deployed, their units do.
Now, Eddie.
The show tends to make it sound like Eddie was in Afghanistan for like five years straight, but he was not. There's a minimum period of time between deployments during which he would’ve been working regular hours at the base where he was stationed, presumably in El Paso. It’s possible he was stationed outside of Texas while Shannon stayed behind with his parents, but he’s never mentioned living anywhere else.
Eddie was enlisted active duty from at least 2011 (possibly 2010) until sometime in 2015 when he was injured and discharged. During that time period, he did "multiple" tours—the exact number is never said, but presumably more than two.
Eddie enlisted when they found out Shannon was pregnant. He went off to basic training (10 weeks) and then additional medic training (16 weeks) after that, and then he was deployed to Afghanistan for his first tour very shortly after. He was home on leave when Chris was born; Shannon said he was going back the following week.
After his first tour ended, he would’ve returned to his home base. If he was stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso (again, he’s never mentioned living elsewhere), he would’ve been working fairly regular hours on base and going home to Shannon and Chris every night.
The reenlistment argument is hard to pin down, timeline-wise. Eddie said he reenlisted at the end of a tour, and the argument we see says it was in 2015. That would mean Eddie signed up for four years of active duty and probably did two or three shorter tours in that time, but Chris doesn’t look like a three or four year old, and they have a different and much older kid playing him later that same year..
If it was supposed to be around 2013 and he only signed up for two years active duty, that would mean he probably did a couple shorter tours.
Reenlisting wouldn’t guarantee he’d be deployed again, but the uncertainty and not knowing how long he’d be home would put a ton of strain and stress on his family, especially with Chris having recently been diagnosed with CP. Long term planning is especially difficult.
He got deployed again in 2015, which is when the helicopter went down. I tend to think this was his third deployment, but it could’ve been his fourth. His welcome home party is three months after the crash, and Shannon seems to leave very shortly after.

every time someone says cars 3 is the worst cars movie another angel punches me in the stomach and pulls my hair.
this is probably just my intense special interest in the origins of nascar, but that movie feels like such a nice send-off for the main “trilogy”, and yes people can have their own opinions but i NEED to talk about how much this movie means to me
first of all, a major misconception is that lightning quit racing - he DIDNT! this is proven by both the end of the movie (where he says hes obviously going to keep racing) and cars on the road where, in the final episode, cruz and lightning wish each other “goodbye” and say they’ll see each other on the racetrack. he was only cruz’s crew chief for that one season, presumably healing from the trauma of the crash (because lets be real his ass did not mentally recover from that in FOUR MONTHS) and also waiting for a permanent crew chief to take his place.
second.. the sheer amount of detail put into that movie is INSANE. the racing center being shaped like grandstands at a track? fireball beach being both a direct reference to the daytona beach race course and also “fireball roberts”, a 1950s racer (he was actually the reason that firesuits were mandated in the sport), we meet a bunch of 1950s racers as well and just augh.. so good. also, the detail of thomasville being in north carolina is brilliant - N.C is the “racing state”, and thomasville speedway is based off of north wilkesboro, a track that was opened in 1949, and last used in 1996 (aside from the series of races in 2010), and it fell into disrepair. (fun fact, north wilkesboro is reopening in 2024 for the nascar all star race!! they fixed my bbg)
third. cars three brings so much more lore than the first movie did. yes, we knew doc raced in the 50s when the sport was getting its start, but in cars 3? they brought in characters based off of real 1950s racers (doc is based off of herb thomas, smokey is smokey yunick, lou is louise smith, junior is junior johnson, river is wendell scott, and leroy hemming is tim flock) (another reference in the movie is “jocko flockos party supplies” as macks disguise - jocko flocko was tim flocks pet monkey that was the FIRST and only co-driver in the history of the sport. he won a race with his monkey in the car with him :) )
as i was saying, the lore we learn is insane. we learn that lou and river had to fight for their place in the sport, which is similar to what both louise smith and wendell scott experienced in the 50s, they show us accurately how racing worked back then too - they didnt have fancy pits, they had a fence and a pit member with a sign that would tell them to come in the next lap for service. all of these cars are gen 1 nascar, which means that they were strictly stock - they had much more intense pit sessions than any of the other “built for racing” generations have ever needed. i recall watching a race wherein smokey yunick had to change the radiator of one of his racers vehicles mid-race due to a crash.
this isnt everything, but seriously for an animated movie about talking cars, they discuss grief and hardships and handle them so well its insane. i know cruz isnt everyones cup of tea, but (in reference to the flip scene at the end of the movie) watching cruz get shoved into the sport must’ve been insane for lou to watch. she saw herself in that girl. it wasnt some movie about lightning giving up, it was him sharing the torch with another kid who lost their way just like he had.
also i dont cry at movies but i literally bawl my fucking eyes out at the letters scene every time. its PATHETIC (its not im literally tearing up just thinking about it)

Saccharose: SlaDick no capes sugar daddy au
Basic premise: Jason runs away from Bruce to live with Dick, who is not financially equipped to support his little brother. Dick runs into wealthy businessman Slade Wilson, who offers him a sugar daddy contract.  Dick has to navigate his relationship with Jason and his relationship with Slade.
Act One: Dick receives guardianship papers from Bruce. Jason is very upset because he thinks Bruce is just abandoning him and takes it out on Dick. Dick trying to get Jason enrolled in school and get all of his supplies, Dick's bank account is dwindling. He goes out clubbing, meets Slade and decides to sleep with him. Slade leaves him money and his number--Dick realizes Slade thought he was a prostitute, but he takes the money anyway. Dick meets Slade again and tries to correct this misconception, but Slade offers him a sugar contract. Dick is hesitant, but decides to try it out.
Act Two: Dick negotiating with Slade and trying to handle Jason. Jason's having trouble at school, he ends up getting suspended, so Dick enrolls him in a new school. Jason gets even more upset at him. There's no scholarship, so it's very expensive, and Dick has to ask Slade for more money. Meanwhile, Dick draws closer and closer to Slade. Dick finally finds himself doing something for the contract that he can't handle, tells Slade to stop, and is pleasantly surprised when Slade actually backs off. Unfortunately, this is around the time that Jason finds out and goes ballistic.
Act Three: Jason is furious and insists that he’d rather live on the streets than watch someone he loves being hurt.  Up till this point, Dick hadn’t realized that Jason even cared about him.  Dick reassures Jason that he isn’t being hurt, Jason demands to meet Slade. Surprisingly, Slade manages to get along with Jason. Jason has a school project coming up that he needs his birth certificate for--Dick wants to ask Bruce for it, because it's not included with Jason's papers, but Slade points out that they can just call the hospital. They find out that Jason's mom wasn't his birth mom. Dick is trying to get answers out of Bruce, but Jason is determined to track down his mom immediately. Slade offers to fly them to Ethiopia. Dick has a bad feeling about it.
They get to Ethiopia, Dick and Slade give Jason some privacy as he talks to his mom. While they're wandering around, they find out that the refugee camp is hiding a trafficking operation. They get back and realize that Jason's been taken for ransom money, but manage to get him out of the warehouse before it blows up. Jason is injured and taken into surgery. Dick is furious at Sheila, furious at Slade, and most of all, furious at himself. This is when Bruce shows up.
Bruce takes control, has Jason airlifted to the best trauma medical center in NYC.  When Dick and Bruce are talking/arguing about paying for Jason’s treatment, it's revealed that Bruce had a trust fund for both of them all along that Dick didn't realize he had access to. Jason recovers, Dick and Slade have a talk about shifting their relationship away from the contract, and they start talking to Bruce again.

An essay on Ford and Mabel
To commemorate my 1000th post, I decided to embark on an essay on the limited Ford and Mabel bonding in the show!
Among some of the shortcomings in the show (including Wendy being chaffed as a main character), there aren’t as many moments for Ford and Mabel to bond over, compared to Ford with Dipper. Well, it’s also due to the short runway we have from A Tale of Two Stans to Weirdmageddon, but for rather odd reasons, Ford didn’t get a lot of screentime and often holed up in his own lab. Even Roadside Attraction did not even drop any mention of Ford. As a mutual lamented to me, it’s likely the case of Ford, like Wendy, being another character whom the writers had a purpose for (as the answer to the mystery of Stan and the Portal), but didn’t know how to write outside that purpose.
Of course, some argued that, for plot reasons, this is so that Mabel gets duped by Bill since she didn’t know about the Rift from Ford. Or that Ford just overlooked her when he offered Dipper the apprenticeship. As such, there is a main misconception that Ford didn’t care about Mabel at all compared to Dipper. Or, in some ridiculously extreme cases, that he hates her. While I guess this was extrapolated from what we might have gleaned in the show, I don’t agree with such extreme views.
Tumblr media
People forget that Mabel was actually the first twin he interacted with, and it was largely positive. When Mabel stated that his six-fingered handshake was one finger friendlier than normal, Ford laughed and said he liked her. Given how much he was shunned by many others for his extra fingers, it probably warmed him to hear someone saying something positive about his anomaly. It seemed initially set up that Ford and Mabel should get along fabulously. Even Mabel went as far as to knit finger puppets for Ford and while he sounded rather hesitant in Journal 3, we later glimpsed a scene in which both bonded over something similar (a hand turkey).
Tumblr media
Which brings me next on Ford’s journal entry about Mabel. (I also noted he interviewed, or wrote about, Mabel before Dipper). His interview with Mabel sounded largely positive given he remarked how he was “instantly charmed” by her “enthusiastic” personality. Ford also considered her as an “odd specimen” (almost certainly a compliment), and also hoped to seek her help to repair his own coat.
I suppose this interview probably shaped some initial impressions for Ford about Mabel. “Overall positive but somewhat ambivalent/not-really-comprehending how she ticks necessarily” is much of how I would define Ford’s attitude toward Mabel - he likes her, but doesn’t especially identify with her because the traits he admires in her are almost inversions of some his own.
At this stage, one could also take that with his remark in Dipper’s initial assessment about how he “possibly takes after Stanley” as Ford initially trying to identify with Mabel the way he ended up identifying with Dipper, such as him enthusiastically commenting about her sweet tooth and hair curls being a Pines trait. Of course, as it turned out in the show and in Journal 3, his perceptions of the twins shifted and he found himself relating more to Dipper especially when he looked back on Dipper’s entries and additions, and the events of Dungeons, Dungeons and More Dungeons.
Tumblr media
I have to admit that when I first read this part, I thought he remarks he himself needed further psychological testing and not Mabel. For some light-heartedness, I rather think of it that way, but there’s something deeper in this for the two’s psychological profiles. First off, the tests were flawed, given Rorschach testing blots should be less definitive, but it probably reflected Ford’s possible lack of comfort with ambiguity, and the preoccupation he had with death and destruction for so long. As for Mabel, it shows a certain degree of wilful misinterpretation, trying to see things through a particular positive lens and has a sort of fear of unpleasantness that manifests in a possibly neurotic drive to control reality around her, which finds its ultimate expression in Mabeland.
This is rather important as something I would delve into deeper later on in this essay, which gave Ford an impression that Mabel’s psychology, while odd, was overall positive and not much to be concerned about. He clearly recognized Mabel’s social ability as a valuable skill, and may see her lack of cynicism as something of an asset too, as we later see in The Last Mabelcorn. I suppose Ford neglected to do a deeper dive into her psychology given the fallout we would see in Dipper and Mabel Vs the Future. He might claim to have 12 PHDs, but I doubted one of them is in psychology.
Tumblr media
We move on to the Last Mabelcorn, which is where we see Ford interacted more with Mabel and offer a bigger insight into how he feels about her. First, he agreed with Mabel when she stated she was probably “the most pure of heart in the room” and entrusted her with the unicorn mission, even knowing that the unicorns were difficult (and frustrating). As such, he equipped her with Journal 1 and a crossbow for the mission. Obviously this was for her safety, as well as trying to give her as much help as he could regarding unicorns, even though he himself had little success (Ford mentioned of an arm-wrestle with a unicorn in the blacklight edition which I doubted went well). At the end of that episode, he directly told her that she is a good person, even without being aware of the struggles she had gone through with her morality moments prior. And after the episode he even regarded her as an expert on unicorns given she managed to defeat one, and allowed her to write an entry in Journal 3 about unicorns. I needed to note that Mabel was the only person who wrote in Ford’s Journal after Dipper returned Ford the Journals (and before their recovery in Weirdmageddon). This rather showed how much Ford really trusted Mabel, especially when he regarded his Journal as his “important scientific documents”.
Tumblr media
Dipper and Mabel vs The Future is more contentious in this regard. We see how plenty of fans often using this episode as proof that Ford doesn’t care about Mabel just because he only asked Dipper to stay in Gravity Falls, and waved off concerns that Mabel would be all alone in California. However, we need to relook some bits of this in context.
Dipper: There’s also Mabel. She’d be all alone in California. Ford: Mabel will be fine on her own. She has a magnetic personality. I watched her become pen pals with the pizza delivery man in the 60 seconds he was at the door.
From this, we can see how Ford cared enough to observe Mabel’s social skills with the pizza delivery guy, plus probably witnessed plenty of instances of Mabel handling herself without Dipper’s help. I guessed that was further underlined by her success in the unicorn adventure, and thus he genuinely believed that Mabel could take being without her brother outside of the summers.
Dipper: Gosh, we’ve never really been apart before. Ford: And isn’t it suffocating? Dipper, can you honestly tell me you never felt like you were meant for something more?
This is another contentious bit, I admit. It sounded like Ford considered Mabel as a stumbling block in Dipper’s future. Well, I concede Ford isn’t perfect. Again, this is one of those times Ford was projecting his issues with Stan onto the younger twins after finding out how similar he thinks Dipper is to him (possibly aggravated probably by Stan blatantly aligning Mabel with himself, ex, telling Dipper that he belongs upstairs with “me and Mabel”). At this point, he was just extremely clueless about the nature of her and Dipper’s relationship, and how it was much healthier than his was with Stan, probably even at that age.
Nevertheless, to say that he didn’t care about Mabel at all is simply a misguided oversimplification. He cared about them both so much. His traumatic experience with his own twin just tainted how he saw the twins’ bond being something that could be potentially suffocating. He did sort of have a point though; Dipper and Mabel couldn’t force each other to stay glued at the hip forever or it could potentially stifle their individual dreams if handled badly. But the twins were only 12 and had a lot of growing up to do together. It wasn’t a great idea to separate the twins at this point, which was something Ford forgot.
Mabel wasn’t forthright about her feelings about leaving Gravity Falls and growing up until she blew up at the end of the episode. We see how she maintained that mask of optimism throughout the show, even when she was worried about the Grunkles’ falling out and the parallels she found between her and her brother back in A Tale of Two Stans. That mask began to slip when she realized growing up wasn’t as great as she thought, and Ford didn’t know how badly Mabel would take it.
Ford thought he was doing Dipper a favor by giving him a head start on his studies. This is probably a bit too charitable of an interpretation, but one could, I suppose, see Ford's “something more” remark as “Dipper more than just half of a set” instead of “implying that Mabel is in some sense inferior than her brother.” As said earlier, he even believed Mabel would be fine and thrive on her own, too. That the two could have reached a compromise if needed.
We can probably conclude that Ford actually did not disregard Mabel or see her as the "inferior twin", but he just found trouble trying to connect with her despite his initial positive impressions. At the same time, due to Mabel's outward outgoing personality, he overestimated Mabel's confidence in being on her own, and also (subconsciously) projected his own issues with Stan on the younger twins. Not to say Ford was a bad person by any means, but he was misguided in some of his assumptions and impressions.
On a tangent, I say the recent fan episode Return to the Bunker tried its best to imagine how Ford and Mabel might go on an adventure together. However, it instead exaggerated too much of his flaws (e.g. his trust issues) and it became more of a Ford bashing episode. Yes, we know Ford isn't perfect by any means, and he might be unfamiliar with interacting with others like Mabel.
Yet, as we also saw from the canon (the show supplemented by Journal 3), he could get along well with Mabel, especially in such a desperate situation like confronting a Shapeshifter (how he dismissed the others' suggestions is really beyond me). We even saw how Ford was willing to give up himself to Bill in WMG when Bill threatened to torture or even kill the kids.
I supposed the writers of that fan episode did read J3 but took the wrong lessons. While definitely an attempt to show Ford's flaws, the episode instead went the other extreme. Ford could sometimes be insensitive (like the remark he made about "suffocating"), but not anti-social or downright unpleasant.
There is definitely potential for more positive Ford and Mabel bonding moments that could further underscore that Mabel could cope well on her own (from what we saw in The Last Mabelcorn). From what @hkthatgffan also told me (and on Reddit), when Lost Legends was coming up, everyone thought, from Hirsch's hint through his emojis, that we might finally get a Ford and Mabel bonding story but instead we got an (admittedly) half-hearted attempt to redeem Mabel from her role in WMG.
I supposed another angle could be Ford and Mabel also coming to terms with their roles, given Ford is partly responsible (and even took some blame himself), and both can overcome the trauma together. I don't doubt these are already concepts being explored in various fanfics and fanarts. And here are some other ideas from Reddit.
Let me end off with some parallel scenes between Ford and Mabel, which show how similar both are. We need to also remember that it's not exactly Dipper-Ford and Mabel-Stan, but rather Dipper and Mabel paralleling each of the Stans in different ways. That is probably another essay for another time.

Hey! I just saw your post about some meta doing good but then misunderstanding the characters at some point. If you do not mind sharing, what are certain misconceptions that you usually see and don’t agree with?
Hi! I don't mind sharing but before I answer this I wanna say that I do love that this fandom has so many interpretations of Aziraphale and Crowley's actions and thoughts and motivations. I think some of those interpretations don't always line up with everything we see of them in the show and I feel that both of them have areas where they can be misunderstood. But if anyone reading this finds themselves disagreeing with me, that you do see some of what I'm about to say in their characters, I'm not trying to take your version of Crowley and Aziraphale away from you and like, ruin that fun by saying people are wrong, or something. Fandom becomes really stiff when the culture only has one idea of who the characters are.
That said, I'll start with Crowley because I've always found him most relatable, and so I think about his character more than Aziraphale's.
The first thing is Crowley's temper. I've read quite a few metas talking about how Crowley needs to better manage his anger because it shuts Aziraphale down and makes it harder for him to talk. I don't see this. I mean, yes, Crowley has a temper. Crowley has been shown to be angry. But I've not seen it shut Aziraphale down. When Aziraphale gets nervous around an angered Crowley, it's always because Crowley has said something blasphemous. Such as at the bandstand when Crowley is cursing the Great Plan. Aziraphale becomes scared FOR Crowley and Crowley is never angry AT Aziraphale. I can't think of a scene off the top of my head where anything Crowley does makes Aziraphale feel like he can't say something he clearly wants to say.
But also, I feel that this take of Crowley's character, that he struggles with his temper around Aziraphale, somehow erases how gentle he really is with Aziraphale. He's always so patient with him, even when it would make sense for him to be off the rails angry. And also also, the two main times we see Crowley lose his temper around Aziraphale (the bandstand and then the fight in episode 1 of this season) are both times of great desperation. The world was ENDING. He was SCARED (He's really good at hiding how scared he is). And then Gabriel shows up and Crowley doesn't know how but he feels this will disrupt every single good thing in his life. And so he explodes in the street, something we don't have reason to think Aziraphale saw. Crowley literally left to go cool down. I think he did his best.
I also see a lot of metas speak to Crowley's apparent lack of self-worth. I've spoken about this before, I think Crowley is very confident in who he is. I think he knows himself better than Aziraphale knows himself. Crowley has ALWAYS known who he is, his arc is not one of self-discovery. It's actually Crowley's dedication to being himself despite what Hell would have him be that causes him conflict and intrigues Aziraphale so much.
That also leads into this idea that Crowley can't see himself clearly and therefore can't accept Aziraphale's love. As if he can't comprehend why Aziraphale might love him. But, we literally watch as Crowley graciously accepts every advance that Aziraphale makes. Crowley is the one who "goes too fast" and he probably has a lot of joy every time Aziraphale makes another step forward. It's Aziraphale who said, "Let's go out for lunch" the first time. It's Aziraphale who invited a demon into the bookshop meant to be an embassy for Heaven. It's Aziraphale who said "our car", and then Crowley gave him the keys. Crowley even blatantly says, "We've spent our entire existence pretending that we're not." This implies that he KNOWS. He knows Aziraphale has been pretending too, for 6,000 years, and before that too. Crowley knows he's loved, the problem was that he wasn't allowed to be loved by an angel, and neither of them ever got to say it out loud.
And then there are other, smaller things I see in metas that I don't generally agree with (though I completely understand how people got there). Which is this idea that Crowley feels rejected by Aziraphale. I mean, yes, but also no. I don't think Crowley got in the car at the end and drove away thinking that Aziraphale loves Heaven more than him. I think he's more angry that every single time Aziraphale falls to Earth, Heaven tugs on this rope around his waist and pulls him back up. I think Crowley understands Aziraphale's dilemma a lot better than we think he does.
And also, more recently I've seen some speculation about how Crowley wanting to run away is somehow a character flaw? Like, I agree with the point that both of them were wrong. Fixing Heaven won't work, so Crowley was right. But also, running away isn't a long term solution for them because they both love Earth too much. But I don't exactly see this as a character flaw? In season 1 when he mentions running away, let me remind you that THE WORLD WAS ENDING. He was desperate and he was scared. And in season 2, it wasn't so much a plea to literally run away into the stars and escape as it was an immortal being saying, "Look, Gabriel and Beelzelbub did it. Wherever they are, they're together, and they're dedicated to being happy together. Can we do that? Can we do that forever? In this bookshop or in the stars (in a cottage in the south downs?) Because I love you and I don't wanna think about belonging to anyone else anymore. WE don't need to belong to anyone else anymore. What do you say?"
And as for Aziraphale, I've said before that I don't think he wants Crowley to be an angel so that he can love him more. Aziraphale loves him as he is. And I think there are more articulate posts out there outlining why. The ask for Crowley to be an angel again has nothing to do with Crowley himself except that Aziraphale thinks Crowley would be safer that way. Aziraphale can fix Heaven FOR Crowley. Crowley's fall was wrong and he can now right that wrong. This happened, tragically, because Aziraphale loves him exactly as he is. And as much as Crowley's heart is broken right now, I don't think he doesn't know that. He knows the love he's had from Aziraphale these millennia was real. He knows it.
This became an essay, maybe one day I'll figure out how to get my points across quickly lol. But yeah, these are just my thoughts about who I understand these characters to be in canon. And I know that even though it's been nearly a month since the season dropped, people are still working through all the details that led up to our favorite angel stepping into an elevator and the demon who loves him more than life driving away alone in silence. I'm honestly still working through it too, there's still so much to think about.

What's your degree in evolution say about that impregnation post?
tldr; no, it's not weird that humans don't go into heat.
ok so first off there are a lot of mammals that have concealed ovulation --- they don't physically, outwardly show when they're most fertile --- and there can be a lot of reasons for this.
but the biggest misconception that people have about evolution that I want to lay out first, is that just because something seems "more efficient" or "more advantageous" does not mean that it's going to evolve or *should have* already evolved. this is a big creationist argument too ("if evolution were real, then we would have evolved x, y, z")
if something works, it works. the fact that humans don't have obvious signs of when they're ovulating does not mean that we are a somehow "less efficient" species or that sex has a different purpose for us. rabbits also do not go into heat. they don't signal when they're ovulating. but, famously, they breed (like rabbits).
it's not good science to talk about traits and behaviors from this kind of benefit-based, anticipatory mindset. and I don't know how else to describe it, but it's like saying "oh, that fish has little legs because it needed to crawl up onto the sand." KILL THIS IN YOUR MIND! just because something ended up being good for a species and having incidental positives does not make that thing the "purpose" or driving force behind how that trait became ubiquitous across the species.
[[long aside, imagine if you will: a fish gets a mutation that makes its fins weirdly stiff. a bunch of fish get washed up on a shore, as happens, sometimes, because of the weather. and most of the fish die, but look, this fish with the weirdly stiff fins is able to leverage and worm and flop its way back into the water because its fins prop it up a little bit more than the other fish. it gets back into the water. it has more babies than the other fish (who are dead). etc. etc. etc. no purpose involved. it did not intend to grow legs.]]
"ok but why DON'T humans go into heat? if it could have happened either way, and if it's all about costs and benefits, wouldn't that be helpful, because it would mean guaranteed pregnancy?"
we're not special. many monkeys and other apes do not go into heat. again, if it works, it works, and we're doing great at getting pregnant without it.
we don't know if our human ancestors DID go into heat and if we lost that trait, OR if they never did and the trait evolved totally separate from us on other branches of the tree-- you can't necessarily determine if a trait was acquired or lost based on the number of species that exhibit it overall. you'd have to do some gene-by-gene detective work, and ovulation signalling is a complex process that's not tied to just one gene, and people are still figuring that out
you WILL see some biologists talking about how concealed ovulation "promotes monogamy" and I have to stress what an utter minefield a lot of speculative evolution is. we are TRAPPED in our current cultural context!!!
scientists who are otherwise so rational and good at thinking about things impartially will dip their toes into the evolution of sex and suddenly turn stupid. i've seen respected PhDs argue that the evolution of large breast tissue in humans is meant to "attract mates" - because western society finds breasts erotic - ignoring the fact that breasts aren't considered remotely sexual in pre-industrial societies - so of course these same guys are going to say that monogamy is some kind of end goal of an actual physical trait that humans possess.
SPOILER ALERT: there are between 6 and 13 non-monogamous primates that also conceal ovulation. oh no!! looks like monogamy isn't the point.
and then you have psychologists (who even asked??) doing studies like this
Tumblr media
https://www.forbes.com/sites/rebeccacoffey/2021/01/29/estrus-and-the-evolution-of-mean-girl-behavior-like-slut-shaming-among-women/?sh=ca83660606b3
["estrus" is the word for behavioral changes that signal ovulation] the study is truly a wild ride but here's some highlights that show just how much people are letting their current cultural biases influence the actual design of their studies
Tumblr media
-> all males wanted badly to mate -> females did not have promiscuity ratings -> female mate value relied heavily on physical attractiveness
it goes without saying that as long as researchers are forming their speculations on past ancestral human societies by just, looking around at their immediate culture and not questioning it at all, we're not going to get anywhere closer to understanding why the human body works the way it does
i'm losing the thread a bit because studies like this make me see red, but the point is that you're going to see a lot of insane takes from actual researchers on why human sex and biology works the way it does. you're going to see weird extrapolation and creationist-adjacent reasoning about evolution leading toward some "purpose" or people having some idea of what an ideal human body would or wouldn't do.
okay but at the end of the day, if a random human did evolve the ability to go into heat? would they be substantially more successful at producing children, and would that gene eventually become the norm for the species? no. there are so many goddamn humans in existence, and you've already got catholics having like 8 children per family anyway, so really, if there was a gene for being catholic then that would probably win out.

Being in a relationship with one of your band mates is hard. It's the hardest thing you'll do and you'll probably end up broken up and out the band.
That didn't happened to me (thank God) but the day they told us that we had a comeback soon and we also had tour coming soon we all knew this was fighting season.
The season where we all fought each-other and couldn't stand each-other because of all the hours in the studio rooms together.
The season we all stepped on each-other's toes or bumped into one another learning new choreography.
The season where we had to learn 10+ dances with 15+ different concepts. Makeup 24/7 to hide our eye bags and avoid fans with the same questions. "What's the new album about?" Or "do we have a Y/n and Chan collaboration??"
Comeback season was the season where anxiety was high and our coffeee intake was higher and I was slowly losing my patience.
I was a ticking time bomb.
"Chan I think that I.N's verse should go here," I tell my boyfriend who was sat on his rolling chair. We were all sitting in the studio and throwing ideas back and forth the whole straykids song. "See if I.N sings this part then I'll sing this part cause I can't sing that high note Chan. I really can't."
"Changing that will have to make us change everything again babe because I.N's voice can't go right after Seungmin's voice then back to your voice," He sighs while rubbing his tired eyes and yanking at his hair.
This song was getting to all of us. It was the last one after all so it had to be the best song in the album. The best one so stays could sing along.
"Chan's right because then me and Han will have to change verses again, which will mess up the whole song." Changbin adds on. He was laying on Hyunjin's lap while Hyunjin slowly scrolled through whatever it was he was on.
"I know but you guys gave me the hardest part and you know I'm singing all the high notes in almost all songs!" I exclaim and roll my eyes.
This wasn't our first argument today. It was obvious but we had to get everything done. Even if this was our 20th argument we had to get everything done. That's all that mattered.
"Y/n. You don't have to be so difficult. Just do it," Chan says while putting down his book and pen and letting out another frustrated sigh.
I frown at the fact that they refused to listen to me. Nothing would have to be difficult if they just listened.
"I'm not being difficult I'm just telling you guys my voice won't be able to handle-"
"Y/n you've complain this whole day, can you just please stop. My head is banging," Leeknow cuts me out. He was laying in the corner on the couch. Head down with a hat on. "Look I love you but just do it. It can't be that hard," He grumbles and closes his eyes.
The boys were all silent clearly not going to back me up and it hurt. I wasn't being annoying. I know I wasn't because my voice ached. My voice was strained and they didn't even care.
My vision goes blurry as I just sit back and keep quiet, not daring to speak because of the fear of my voice failing.
"Can you not cry right now please? You've cried the whole day too and I'm tired of it. You can't cry out of every situation," Chan, my boyfriend, MY boyfriend says y heart breaks into millions of pieces.
His eyes go wide as he realizes the damage his caused. His body quickly turning to my direction as he reaches out for my hand.
"Really Chan? Are you being Foreal right now?" I get up from the chair I was in. The hot tears starting to slowly fall down my cheek.
"No wait babe I didn't mean that-"
"Maybe if I'm such a cry baby I shouldn’t be in the fucking group." I spit at him with so my venom in my tone.
"No babe I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it like that, okay? Let's just chill out right now."
If they thought I was this horrible they should just kick me out of the team. They clearly won't listen to me. Why would Chan treat me like this?
"Why do you guys never listen to what I have to say about anything? Y'all always just do what you want!" I exclaim and get up from my chair causing Chan to stand up and the boys to pay attention.
"We do listen to you baby, sometimes is just that your ideas aren't the best and affect all of us."
"I'm trying to tell you that I can't hit that note and Seungmin can, why do you have to be so difficult about it?"
"I'm the difficult one? I'm the difficult one?" He exclaims and throws his hands up in the air.
"Y/n maybe let's not start an argument right now," Felix interrupts our conversation making me glare at him.
I glare at Felix as more anger fills me.
"Felix are you really taking his side right now?"
"I'm not in just saying we shouldn't be arguing like this, it's getting too much!"
"Okay then I'll leave-"
"Are you serious right now bro? We have things to do," Han says jumping into the argument.
"Then do them without me! I'm done with this." I start grabbing my stuff and furiously wiping my now flowing tears.
"Ugh!" Chan growls and throws something at the wall causing my to jump. I look up at him and watch him rubbing his temples and mumbling words.
I was clearly not going to be listen to and I was clearly being "difficult". I refuse to be around any of them. Atleast not right now.
Without hesitating I grab my stuff and walk out the door hearing a "No wait don't go!" Before I slam it.
But then the door automatically opens right after and I hear my name being called.
"Babe stop, come back. I'm sorry okay?" I hear Chan's footsteps getting closer to me. I don't even bother to look his way but his hand had already wrapped around mine and he turned me around.
"Leave me alone Chan. I'm tired of fighting you."
"I'm not fighting you baby, let's talk please? Let's figure it out." His hand quickly wraps around my waist as he pulls me to somewhere quiet.
I look at him eager for him to start the conversation and he can sense it.
"Tell me why you don't want to sing that part of the song when we both know you can,"
He softly says as his hands rub mine.
"Chan it's nothing.."
"It's something because something's wrong and you're not telling me."
"My voice.." I start before clearing my throat and looking into his eyes that we're searching for mine "My throat hurts everytime I sing now and I'm slowly losing it Chan,"
"What? Why didn't you tell me?"
"Because I didn't want to worry you-"
"Baby I am supposed to worry about you, I'm still your group leader and anything that happens to you will be braught back to me. Have you checked with the medical stuff?"
"Yeah I did, they said I should be put on vocal rest."
"That's really bad baby, you should have just told us and we could have figured out stuff, I'm sorry I tried to push you,"
"It's okay, I know I can be a handful sometimes,"
"No don't say that, your not a handful. We just have to listen to you and stop being jerks."
"Yeah I can agree with that." I let out a chuckle and he smiles.
"I love you," his hands wipe my tears and he kisses my forehead.
"I love you too baby."
"Let's go back in the studio and I'll explain everything to the boys yeah? I'm sure they'll be more lenient now." He softly says and intertwines our fingers.

Thank you for the request baby🩷

So why are the writers destroying Aemond in S2? Like show us what immediately went down between Aemond and his mother right when he returns from Storm's end, not a few days after, if you want him as a straight up villian, you know. Aldo rumors are he even murders Heleana. That's how bad the writing is. Thoughts?
They fumbled the transition ...
Book!Aemond and Show!Aemond are two different characters.
Book!Aemond is loud, brash, and in your face, with a streak of cruelty and ruthlessness that was needed and fostered as a way to protect his family. Aemond made the hard decisions and took ownership - good or ill.
Show!Aemond in Season 1 was just Daeron in Aemond cosplay. All the attributes of Aemond that made people like him, quiet, brooding, devoted unimpeachably to Alicent, close to Criston. These are all Daeron's characteristics from the book. I think people have this misconception of Daeron - because he is the youngest - of him being light, fun, and innocent. But the book says that he was quiet and cerebral, that he was courteous, but brooded alone with only Alicent - and probably Criston - being the only one who knew his true mind.
Book!Aemond is never going to sit by the fire alone and brood thoughtfully in the shadows of the flames or seek the council of Criston Cole for a private talk. That's 100% Daeron behavior. Book!Aemond is completely unrepentant about anything and everything he does. He takes ownership and flaunts it. The dude is pure unreptant swag.
The problem the show has is that now that Daeron is coming and GRRM insisted that they add Daeron - cause the symmetry would be fucked for the entire story - "The Butterflies" - they had to basically strip Aemond of Daeron's qualities and reset the character to factory settings. The problem is that they both fumbled the realignment and also didn't give him enough time to become the character he became in 2x05-2x08. They fucked around so much with unnecessary plotlines with riots and Mysaria and dragon seeds, that they rushed the transition or gave just enough time to do "Well enough" for the character's story arc.
They also broke Aemond's character to put over Alys and Daemon. In the book, it is extremely clear that a lot of Aemond's odd and psychotic behavior toward the end is being influenced by Alys. Aemond starts going completely off book and out of character once Criston and he take Harrenhal. Aemond abandons Alicent and Helaena, he leaves Criston and Daeron twisting in the wind, he starts burning the Riverlands in a reign of terror that even by the time of "Game of Thrones" they still haven't quite recovered from. All of these things is clearly from Alys's influence through spell craft or just preying on his worst aspects.
Now, Aemond is burning cities because the show is trying to convince us that it was always in his nature, when, if you read "Fire and Blood" a lot of it has to do with whatever Alys is planning. But now, because of this childist "Men are stinky and Women are good" trash their pushing, now Alys is this wise, sage-like, witch, rather than an extremely dangerous and mercenary figure who has her own agenda that is not for the good of the realm, but what is good for Alys Rivers.
The main problem is that the writers woefully misunderstand Aemond as a character and basically reengineered him to fit their bullshit political agenda and message that they want to push. They're trying to set up that 'Yeah, Daemon is bad, but his redemption is that he kills that meanie Aemond, cause Aemond is just pure evil!'
Mark my words, that's the simplistic childish thinking of these hacks.

Trolls - Accidental Knight and the end of the world (Field of Forget-me-nots au - what if?) -PART 2!!!!
Okay, so this is a what if off of second movie of the FoF au (this post), where Barb won. This was inspired by the fic "The Beginning of the End" by AnimationFan2006 on Ao3. Pls go give it a read. I highly recommend that anyone go to look at the rest of the Field of Forgetmenots au. And I had to split it in half because I posted the first one at 2:00 am. Here is that first post!
Now on to the meat of the story.
Our survivalist group is now mostly formed, Floyd, john Dory, Bruce, Demo and Crimp have met up with Tresillo, Wani and Keith in the pop forest. After some explanations Tresillo and Keith take everyone (minus John Dory he needed to hide Rhonda and Wani stayed behind to help him get back), back to the bunker through the tunnel network. Bruce ever since entering the tunnel hadn't been able to take his eyes of Keith. His parental instincts going into over drive from the moment that Demo said who the trolling was. Bruce may have been out of the loop for a few years when it came to the royal family, he was fairly certain they were made up of warm colored trolls, but that doesn't mean he isn't horrified by the implications of why this poor little kid was on his own. Floyd is on the same page. They both start asking Tresillo questions and get the truth, which isn't any better then the misconception.
Tresillo: Keith isn't the prince. Queen Poppy didn't have any ninos.
Floyd: Then why did Demo call him Prince?
Tresillo: Because Chico was captured along side Queen Poppy, and Queen Barb is an idiota. I don't know the specifics, but his hermano was the chief of security for the tribe, and some how Chico ended up going with them.
Bruce: Wait, I get the brother going, but their parents let a child go?
Tresillo: Once more pop troll, I don't have all the details, but from my understanding, his Papi is long gone. All he had was his Hermano.
Floyd: Then where is his brother?
Tresillo: *sigh* where the all the héroes go. Keith's brother was the first to stand up to Queen Barb, and the first to fall to her song.
Both Floyd and Bruce are horrified. This poor kid probably watching his brother sacrifice himself while trying to save him. Bruce is just thinking of how all the parenting book he read telling him how harmful an upbringing without a stable family unit can be for a kid. It also doesn't help that Keith has the same hair and eyes that Bitty B once had. They both decide that they were going to keep Keith safe, and find away to help Bitty and get Keith his brother back (not knowing their the same person).
Once back in the Bunker, they loop John Dory in and they do try to approach Keith, and give him comfort. Telling him that Big brothers would always come back for their little ones.
Keith: Would you do that for you're little brother?
Floyd: Of course.
Keith: Then why can't I believe you?
Keith fully knows who John Dory, Bruce and Floyd are, and what they did. He's going to subtly twist that knife he put in their backs every chance he got. They had twenty years to find Branch, and now that he was gone they just show up at the bunker like they own the place. He's polite to Crimp and Demo, Branch taught Keith manners after all, but he's not going to be civil with Brozone. And he's certainly not going to tell them who Branch became.
During their stay at the bunker, John Dory and Demo join in on the excursions, to capture Zombies and round them up in a pen in a dark corner of the woods. While Bruce and Crimp stay in the bunker with the children, and Floyd while he recovers. This allows DJ to start to help more with the outside work. John tried to object at Keith going out with them, but he's quickly proven wrong when Keith proves to know the forest better then any of them. When John asked how Keith knew all this stuff, the trolling only ever answered, "My brother taught me." John feels very strongly when it comes to learning about Keith's brother. The whole situation kind of feels close to home. After all he was saddled with his brothers after his parent's death, just like Keith's brother, and from what John could tell, the brother did a fantastic job. Keith could clearly take care of himself, and he adored his brother, it took a very strong person to be able to raise a child like that after losing your parent. He was certainly stronger then John ever was, All he managed to do was break his already broken family apart further. Sometimes he would wonder if Keith knew that, and it was the reason why the trolling was so cold to him.
At some point, Floyd wouldn't have been able to sleep one night and He would stumble on to a Keith who had fallen asleep while working on a book. He picks the trolling up, and starts to take him to bed. Tresillo would be up and point out that Keith had been sleeping in his brothers room and gave his to the girls. Floyd would follow this information and tucked Keith into his brother's bed. He would put the book on the nightstand while tucking the trolling in and knock said book off of the nightstand as he turned to leave. Said book is a photo album as Floyd would soon learn, and landed open to a page with a single picture. A picture of Keith and an older blue troll cuddled up on a hospital bed asleep, the trolling's hair obscuring half of the older trolls face. At first Floyd just figures it's Keith and his brother, and find the photo cute...until he notices the green leafy vest on the bed next to them. And everything clicks.
Floyd runs out of the bedroom and wakes up his Brothers, dragging them to his room to show them the photo. John Dory and Bruce immediately recognizes the adult as Branch. Sure his hair was darker, but John and Clay's hair darkened as they got older. It's all just confirmed when they take the picture out of the album and flip it over, reading on the back, "Three Days until Branch can come home. Boys are celebrating early with snuggles! :] " Floyd would continue to to flip through the album, while Bruce and John spiral over this revelation. Their baby brother had a baby brother?! He was in the hospital at some point?! For what?! Who took care of Keith during that?! Grandma?! Who was the dad that Keith mentioned?! And they didn't know any of it. Eventually the older two siblings are pulled out of their panic with a shocked gasp from Floyd, who found the earlier pictures, from Branch's grey days. How on earth had they let their baby brother go grey....They spend the rest of the night just going through the album. Seeing Branch and Keith, Branch as grey, Branch missing and eye, their brother with a pink female troll, and an older troll that looks almost like a purple haired keith (they all assume that this was Branch's adoptive father, as Rosiepuff isn't anywhere to be seen).
In the morning the three of them confront Keith, they do so gently, at first believing that Keith simply didn't know about them, however they we're into a very rude awakening when Keith says, "I know who you are, I know what you did, but unlike you I know the aftermath. We're not family. Family doesn't abandon each other." And well, there's little they can do about that...other than try and make it up to Branch by protecting Keith and saving him.
Sadly, things aren't as safe at the bunker at they originally thought. The group had been capturing zombies and storing them away on the other side of the village, until they could find a cure. They didn't expect a Rock patrol to find where they were keeping the horde, and the group is forced to relocate, sealing up the Bunker so that the Rock trolls can't find it. Keith tries to get them to go to Bergentown but JOhn Dory is driving so that wasn't happening. They travel passed bergentown, and look for a place toe shelter. Rhonda needs a rest after two days of travel, and they stop at an old abandoned golf course. The kids immediatly want to check out the living horror movie place, the adults follow. DJ trips on a wire and the clown activates. Keith Marches up to the clown, little bow drawn, just like Branch would've done, much to Brozone's horror. Viva pops out giving Keith a giant squeeze, and pulls the group further into the putt putt course.
Keith doesn't like a the puttputts at first glance, they look feral like a predator and it makes him uncomfortable. He lived with a grey Branch he knows what paranoia looks like, this this was different then what happened to Branch. This was worse. He warns the other trollings and considering that Keith was a good judge of character, they take him seriously.
After reuniting with Clay, both him and Viva pull the brothers, Tresillo, Demo and Wani into a private meeting. While DJ and Crimp take the kids to get fries. Viva tries to should Keith off on to DJ, but the trolling follows them into the meeting room and remains stubbornly in his seat.
Viva: Look Keith sweetie, we're going to have an adult talk in here. You'd probably have more fun with your friends.
Keith: I'm not here to have fun, miss viva. I'm here to talk business.
Clay: Look kid, a lot of the stuff we're going to be talking about is, scary and very serious.
Keith: You want to talk serious fun boy? My family is currently brainwashed or imprisoned, I've lost my home to a maniac, and now I have to deal with people like you talking down to me, because I'm a child. I'm not here for fun, I'm here for progress.
Demo: *whispering to Wani* Are you sure he isn't the prince?
Demo's comment make's Viva ask questions, to which she learns that while Keith wasn't in fact Queen Poppy's heir, he was still the closest thing and considering that's what the rock empire believes their keeping up the ruse so that there's less of a chance they'll brainwash or kill Keith on sight. Viva is ecstatic to learn that her baby sister is alive, and grows horrified to learn that poppy's currently held captive in rock troll territory. Clay doesn't believe them, mostly it's his emotions regarding John Dory and now keith's jab that are making his judgement poor, but he convinces himself that what trolls would be hostile to them when there was bergens to worry about, and how could they trust what a kid is saying. Though, he holds himself as Demo, Tresillo and Wani's stories match up with Keith's.
After being convinced about the dangers of the Rock trolls, Clay and viva immediately make plans to go full on lock down. No one goes in no one goes out. Everyone objects to this. Wani, Tresillo, and Demo, knowing that the plan would never work with Rock troll weapons. While Keith and the other brothers want to go get Branch (one of the few things they can agree on).
Clay: Wait, wait, you just spent like the last twenty minutes explaining why these guys were dangerous, and now you want to go into their territory.
Keith: I want my brother back.
Clay: from what you told me kid, he's gone. You need to move on.
Keith: Just because your too much of a coward to get your brother back, doesn't mean I am! Then again I guess you're already used to throwing him to the bergens to save you're own skin!
Clay: what are you talking about?
Keith: You probably never cared about Branch in the first place, after all you left him to die once already.
Clay: WHO IS THIS KID?!
Brozone: *Share's glances*
Floyd: Clay, Branch is keith's brother.
Mean while in Volcano Rock City, Hickory finally found a way to make contact with the imprisoned Queen and remaining un-zombified pop trolls. He might not have been able to get to the cells himself, but he found someone who could. Jovi was a mixed troll (rock and celtic), who didn't under any circumstance agree with Queen Barb's conquest. It took a bit to convince him to help, but Hickory manages it. Being a nurse, with a family member on the medical board, Jovi managed to get clearance to access the prisons underneath the guise of mandatory check ups and patch jobs on minor wounds. When he finally opens the cell that held Poppy he was in for a sorry sight.
Poppy had been completely crushed by her imprisonment. Her home destroyed, her friends put in danger, and her family...Her dad had been turned but she wasn't sure what happened to him after that. Cooper is imprisoned like her and they weren't allow to see each other. No one will tell her what happened to Keith, and Branch...Branch was gone. The man she loved secretly had been warped away by the powercord. She saw him everyday, but it isn't her branch. Her Branch wouldn't taunt her with her failures. Her Branch wouldn't hold his own sword to his neck making threats to hurt himself, her Branch wouldn't lie about finally being happy after being turned. After a month she wanted Branch to turn that sword on her, or for Barb to corrupt her. Her color had long bled away, there was no hope in her prison.
That is until a dull blue troll with golden streaks in his hair comes to her cell. Jovi tells her everything, that keith escaped and that he nad Hickory were working on a way out of their. Poppy breaths a sigh of relief that Keith got away and she wants to believe him about the rest, she really does, but she can't. Jovi tells her it's okay, he just asks her to be ready to take a chance when the time comes.
The snack pack are a little more receptive to Jovi's news, and their ready help however they can. Even if waiting like Jovi asked is hard. Right now their trying to establish contact with outside help and that could take time. Smidge mentions that they used bloodhound beetles to send messages in the village and it gives Jovi an idea. Volcano Rock city didn't have bloodhound beetles, but they had something similar. Fruit bats could travel for miles, if given something to smell for. With a little help from a friend of his who trained therapy bat's and one of Demo's old bandanas that Hickory found they manage to send a message out.
Things at the putt putt course had been tense for the passed few days. Viva and Clay had held firm about their desicion to hunker down, and no one was happy about it. John managed to get viva to let Rhonda in but that was a small comfort to him. He feels like a sitting duck and he's not the only one, Tresillo and Wani are just as stir crazy as him. Bruce spends most of his time keeping the peace, Clay is hostile towards everyone but him and Floyd, and is letting his anger take control of his actions, John can't make suggestions because "he can't stand it when he's not in charge", Tresillo, Demo and Wani can't help because "they don't understand how things work here" DJ and Crimp don't even try. And Clay certainly doesn't listen to Keith. Bruce had been trying to get everyone to at least agree on a plan, and so far he felt powerless. Oringially he thought thagt Floyd would back him up, but Floyd was too busy trying to take care of that Keith kid.
Key work trying, Keith wouldn't let any of them near him. It hurt really, watching Floyd follow this kid around like a lost puppy. Bruce's theory was that Floyd thought he could redeem himself after failing to protect branch if he could keep Keith safe, keep his other little brother safe. Clay thought it was stupid, the kid wasn't their family. Sure he was close to Branch, that much was clear after he saw the photo album, but that didn't mean Keith was there brother. The kid didn't want to be their brother. Bruce had let Clay vent to him about all these harsh feelings, but he also made his younger brother swore never to tall Keith about them. Even if the kid hated them, he was still a kid that had lost all of his family, the last thing he needed was rejection.
Viva had tried to talk Clay into speaking more with his brothers, but she knows it's a losing fight. Viva had been talking more to DJ suki, trying to learn all about her sister, and slowly the DJ words have been getting to her. "Why don't you go get her" "CJ's mom, was my big sister, I knew I could count on her." "Sometimes family's worth the risk." It was starting to break her resolve. After all her dad had once, launched a full-blown escape to save poppy, why couldn't Viva do that for her sister. When she went to clay about it, he shut it down though, they had no way of planning such a mission. They didn't know where her sister was kept, they didn't have a way to get the team there and back, and they didn't know what the Rock trolls were capable of.
All this changes when a small fruit bat flutters into the golf course with a letter addressed to Demo.

there will be a part three.

An Unnecessarily Detailed Analysis of Sashimori
You have been warned!
Tumblr media
The Band as a Whole
The band preceeding Sashimori was initially a loud rock band (noisy death-metal to be specific) [X], and SplatoonUS and Nogami calls them a wall-of-sound band specifically [X] [X] . In wall-of-sound, the intention is to exploit the possibilities of studio recording to create an unusually dense orchestral aesthetic. [X] (Some examples of metal wall of sound i found off internet are Oh, Sleeper, Periphery, Soulkeeper, Underoath and Your Memorial to give you an impression of what kind of band they could be)
This band initally was founded by Taichi when he wanted singing to accompany his guitar skills and it was made of Taichi, Ryu Chang, Karla and their vocalist. However, the vocal
ist was a self-centered and authoritarian person, which made the other three kick them out.
This vocalist is often speculated to have been Pearl, due their genres fitting, the preceeding band being emphasized for being REAL LOUD and of course, #$@%* Dudes Be #$@%* Sleepin. (and i would say dudes be sleeping does sound like the examples ive given). When asked to Nogami about it, he said they left it up to imagination [X].
The SplatBaseENG calls this singer a "He" [X], however there are no gendered pronouns in SplatBaseJP [X].
After kicking out the vocalist, the three worked as an instrumental trio. [X]
However, after some time they felt something was missing from their music, so they made a tweet about recruiting a new member, which is when Paul reached out. Although doubtful of the kid first, he soon proved himself capable and was made into the driving force of the band, adopting his style of using ancient samples as vocals [X] [X].
Haikara Walker calls Paul a founding member of Sashimori. So we can conclude Sashimori is not continutation or a rebrand of their old band but a whole new one.
Karla (Mostly From Haikara Walker)
Karla is known for being mysterious, keeping quiet at interviews. Her age, how she eats is a mystery (it's because scaly-foot gastropod don't need to).
But they don't have bad intent. Smile :)
Their ironclad body made them resilient to the vocalist's noisy-metal lyrics.
Their mysterious past might be a reference to the fact Karla started out as a repurposed Octo Expansion NPC. This art calsl her shady, and also an iron lady. [X]
It was pointed out to me by a friend that it is very possible it's Karla who is taking the White Day Splatband Pic, which explains their absence.
Paul (Mostly From Haikara Walker)
Paul is a Turntablist. A turntablist is a performer who moves records whilst playing on the turntable to manipulate the sound and create original compositions [X]. He is said to have godlike mixing skills.
He samples all vocals through ancient vinyls that are pretty much all but said to be of human origin, alongside mixing other DJs' work. [X]
His favourite food is kelp and biscuits.
He was 10 at 2018, now being 16.
Sashimori is specifically said to have emerged at the end of inkling/octarian conflict, amongst other bands which the specific phrasing could imply Paul is octarian/dome octoling, however this much is theorizing. [X]
Another thing that points towards this is that along his (implied) human records and DJ Real Sole remixes, he is also said to remix Octavio's work.
Another speculation is the connection between Acht and Paul. They have similar clothing style, similar tentacle colors and and as Haikara Walker points out, their hats bear the same symbol (though they also say it could be the same brand that they like) . There is in-universe speculation that two are blood relatives. [X].
The phrasing also implies a connection between Marina and Paul [X], and according to Splatfest (JP) dialouge, they are friends :) [X]
It is a very common misconception that he is playing chess with Kuze or Fuka, but a closer look at the table shows they are playing a game together with 3 different colored pieces and shapes. Did this add anything to the discussion? No :) [X]
Ryu Chang (From Haikara Walker)
Ryu was 35 years old at 2018, now is 41.
They come from an area with a mountain stream at the base of Mount Nantai. This, along with his "Climbing Dragon" nickname comes from a myth of a koi transforming into a dragon once it climbed the waterfall (which he is one, koi i mean) [X].
Speaking of "Climbing Dragon", their temptous drumming has a reputation which has earned them that nickname.
They grew up in a prestigious home, but went hardcore in their teenage years, devoting themself to punk.
Their illustrate as a hobby, and they designed the band's mascot, "Mr. Wasabi." . It can be assumed they did the graphic design for the band as well.
They are on a Rainmaker team with other bands' drummers, Kuze and Blow. At the Low Water Party Rave, one of them picked up the double bass and played it. [X]
Taichi Sawaberu (Again, Mostly From Haikara Walker)
They are called the embodiment, a skillful and precise guitarist who has an instrumental background.
They are a studio musician who has a wide range of activities outside of the band.
They started the band predecessor to Sashimori when wanted singing to accompany them.
They are seen to be talking to Nishida in the White Day art, who is said to be an expert guitarist in their own right, having a reputation for their own techniques which are written in megazines and such [X] , it can be assumed that is the topic of their discussion, with Nishida holding their guitar and all.
They are stated to be have been especially wary of Paul (with this stated on their bio specifically), seeing him as small and annoying, however have opened up to him recently. Recently as in in 2018.

So can i request wednesday x gn reader who has wanda maximoff powers specifically before wanda had the ability to compelety control reality
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Telepathy, telekinesis, energy manipulation/projection, forcefields and nightmare induced illusions. This was you at your most weakest and yet you were still the most feared person within Nevermore after getting some payback on Eugene’s bullies by putting them into a week long nightmare induced illusion. Some were more graphic and horrific then others that Weems had to add additional visitations to Dr Kinbott because of it.
The severity of the nightmares weren’t your doing but the rest however was so you were put into servitude by helping Thronhill with her plants to make up for it. “Your powers will only gradually become stronger with how quickly your progressing.” She once said creepily as you used your telekinesis to hook some of her newer potted plants closer towards the ceiling.
“Excuse me?” You asked her, the magic quickly fades back into the palms of your hands which you then pressed closely against your chest. “I was just merely stating a fact dearie, no need to be so worried.” She tried to pass off her comments but they still felt a weird feeling in your chest and in the back of you mind, something told you not to ever be this alone with someone like her ever again. If you knew what was good for you.
You knew that your magic was comparatively more dangerous and unpredictable then the other witches at Nevermore which was why even they tended to stray away from you in fear of becoming collateral damage when your powers became unstable. They did try to help you but all their methods contradicted each other and it ended up with you setting off a wave of un concentrated energy, injuring the few witches within the room with you at the time with bruises and bone fractures from being propelled into things.
You didn’t blame anyone in staying away from the chaos witch with no control over their own damn powers. You’d stay away from yourself if you could. Besides Eugene, the only people brave enough to be within your presence was Enid and Xavier after you saved Xavier from some normies that destroyed his art and helped Enid when she was in a pinch of getting something off of the top shelf before leaving.
The werewolf was persistent in getting to know you better after that and soon used her gossip blog to clear any misconceptions about you as did Xavier and Eugene. You helped them, so it was only obvious that they help make your stay at Nevermore that little bit better. For that act of kindness, you couldn’t repay them and they don’t expect you to because friendship shouldn’t be consistently give or take.
So when Wednesday came and started taking the cautious eyes that were once burning into your back, you felt as though you could finally breath knowing that you weren’t the one people were forcing themselves to walk on eggshells anymore. Well that wasn’t true, there were still people who feared you and what you were capable of when put/ forced to endure under mass amounts of emotional stress.
Wednesday originally came to you when her visions started to become more and more frequent, come may or may not have contained you in them to some extent. She thought that due to your extent of powers, you may give her some insight in her visions and seeing as out of every incompetent nitwit within the school, you were her best options.
She walked in on you using your powers to put back misplaced books in the library and she had to say that seeing such magic up close was a sight to behold. Though her hands were more preoccupied on how your hands moved in intricate ways or how the veins within your hands were beautifully complemented by the glow of your magic that she also forgot what she came to you for.
“May I help you?” Your voice broke her out of her trance and Wednesday was quick to show you the ripped page she got from Rowan, placing it in front of you. “Do you know anything about this?” She asked blankly as your eyes looked over the images with furrowed brows.
“Hate to break it to you but my powers don’t extend to visions of any kind. All I know about this is what Rowan told me and even then it’s like what Xavier told Me, visions only show what the person wishes to see, they’re not based upon any logic and are always misconstrued by a multitude of people who waste themselves away from trying to decipher them.” You told her as you handed back the page. “But if I were to make an assumption, you either saving the school, or destroying it.” You left Wednesday alone in the library after the encounter as she was stood there, mulling over your words as she looked closer on the page before her eyes flickered to the nightshade marking on the right hand corner of the page.
After having deduced you as unable to helping her, Wednesday thought that would be the least you’d cross paths but it seemed that fate was throwing her surprise after surprise and Wednesday wasn’t fond of surprises. Due to your friendship with Eugene and Enid, you were becoming more and more involved in Wednesday’s little investigation more so then you probably thought.
So much so that you were just as deeply in the crime as everyone else was that you didn’t noticed that it was starting to build up stress within you. So when you, Tyler, Wednesday and Enid went to investigate the abandoned Gates’ house and when the Hyde began to corner your three into a cramped space.
Enid’s panicking wasn’t helping the situation and before you knew it, another wave of energy burst forth from your hands and it sent the metal door off it’s hinges and into the Hyde, sending it back down the stairs where it came up from after supposedly ‘hurting’ Tyler. “I’m sorry.” You told the girls but Enid was more ecstatic then anything as she clung herself to your side.
“Sorry?!” She exclaimed, “you saved us y/n!you really showed that monster who’s boss!” Wednesday was silent as she looked at your hands but it wasn’t in disgust or anger but more so curiousness. After all she had only see your power in small dosages and knew that when you were put under immense pressure, your magic became more unstable for you to control, which leads to unpredicted outputs of strong chaos magic.
You protected her and Enid and it left a weird warm feeling within her chest that she was quite use to yet but would soon get use to when you would once again protect her by conjuring up a forcefield during the final fight with Crackstone.
“Witch!” He’d cried, pointing his cane at you as it beamed a vicious red.
“Yeah that’s right, I’m a witch” you said tiredly as you pointed to yourself before using the last ounces of your energy into a last ditch effort in knocking the cane out of his hand before collapsing to the floor out of exhaustion. You felt yourself becoming a little stronger after the fight but that only made the fear within your grow.
So once it was finally over and everyone was accepting their victory, Thornhill has to remind everyone that she was still very much alive and holding a gun threateningly towards Wednesday and Bianca, thinking that you had exhausted yourself, but luckily you had recovered enough energy from when Bianca and Wednesday were finishing off Crackstone to remove the gun from her hand and make it turn on her just as Eugene came in with the swarm of bees.
“You saved me multiple times when I’ve proven myself a character that you shouldn’t waste your breath on, why?” Wednesday finally mustered up to ask you when you were clearing out your dorm for the remainder of the semester.
“You’re right, you have proven yourself a character I shouldn’t have wasted so much time and effort towards but here’s the thing, butterflies can never truly see how beautiful they are with their own eyes. They have to trust those nearby to believe their are genuine.” You told her as you gave her a soft smile before turning back to your packing before adding, “will you come back next semester?”
“This school have proven it’s intrigue to me, but I’ll only be retuning if you promise to return also.” You laughed as her words before looking at her over your shoulder, “I’ve got nowhere to be other then here.” You told her, surprisingly liking the fact that she was anticipating your return to this weirdly secretive school.
“Put your number in this…thing Xavier bought me.” She tried her best to make her demand sound less of a demand but it failed and you couldn’t help but chuckle again at her attempts of being friendly and put your number into her phone so that she may text you when inconvenienced.
Spoiler: you talked to her pretty much the entire time until you had to go back to Nevermore to solve a stalker problem.

So I actually had an idea for a fic that is inspired by this by @cyrwrites and I got all excited so here it is. Also, warning, I haven’t watched Danny Phantom or any Batman stuff at all so… all of my information comes from random fics…
Danny is on the run from the Fentons/GIW with Jazz, with the vivisection scar. They go to Gotham. He looks remarkably similar to Jason when he died (in my mind, it’s been a couple of years since then and the Batfam haven’t found out he’s alive (sorta) again)
One of the Batfam sees him, and because none of them can be normal, they just casually kidnap him. They are even more convinced it’s Jason because they mistake the vivisection scar for an autopsy scar, plus Danny just gives off death vibes idk + Jason’s grave is, in fact, empty. Perhaps they also come to the misconception that this is Jason from the past, or he’s been de-aged and that’s why the doesn’t recognize them. They need to re-earn his trust, and they can’t just let him go, now can they. That’d be dangerous. And sad, they just need to wait, he’ll come around eventually and remember them/bond the same way as before.
Meanwhile on Danny’s end, Danny is weakened enough from the Fentons he can’t really use his powers. He tries to tell them he isn’t whoever this Jason guy is but they don’t believe him. He tries to escape, but without his powers he gets caught and they bring him back ‘for his safety’. Danny is upset and getting more traumatized by the minute. Jazz must be worried sick (she is. She is freaking out).
I also like the idea that Jazz full on becomes a rogue to more effectively and efficiently look for her baby brother. Like, a really powerful rogue. Because the Batfam kidnapped her brother. The Batfam can have a realization about this later.
Anyway, real Jason eventually comes back after maybe a month or two of Danny being kidnapped and after a lot of confusion and Danny being like ‘oh thank god does this mean you’ll let me go home now? Please my sister is probably worried sick’, Jason ends up pissed that they kidnapped a random, already traumatized kid, and refused to let him go. Jason takes the kid back to a safe house and gets the full story. Jazz is contacted, and they get a nice reunion. At this point maybe the Batfam show up and have their realization that this is the new rogue they’ve been having trouble with. They also realize that they Fucked Up.
they try to make amends, but Danny and Jazz are having none of it. Jason supports them. (maybe Jason and Jazz get together? I imagine them both to be like twenty ish at this point, and Danny like 15)
Anyway that’s my idea, I haven’t really ever done creative writing that wasn’t for a school project, but I like this so maybe I’ll actually try and write it.
Edit: I did, in fact, write it, or at least the start. Here's the masterpost if you want to read it.

Alright, since I'm at that episode, I'm gonna elaborate on my actual problem with Dark Sonic:
To be honest, I don't think there's anything really wrong with Sonic during the episode. He's angry his friends have been hurt by a villain, so he harnesses the power of the fake Emeralds (which he has a physical negative reaction to) and smashes said villain's testing robots to pieces.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I never really considered this a problem. Sonic can get angry, be antagonized, the SA2 Shadow fight in Green Forest springs to mind.
Plus, Secret Rings has Darkspine Sonic, which is about as close to Dark Sonic as it gets. Sharha just died, trading her life for his, he absorbs the Rage, Sadness and Hatred Rings and transforms.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even after he leaves the transformation, he still seems pretty pissed at Erazor Djinn, with killing Sharha at the top of the list.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, yeah. It's not 1:1 and I'm not claiming these are the same, X is obviously more exaggerated, but I don't really have a problem with the concept. We can talk about how Eggman comes in, tells Sonic he needs to be better and not let his emotions overwhelm him, but frankly I think that's more of an X!Eggman issue than the transformation itself.
No, my real problem is, and always has been, how the fandom interpreted it. That's it. I've read so many fics, seen so many posts about Sonic just "turning dark" when angry, as if any transformations have ever been purely emotion without an external power-source. (Super requires the Chaos Emeralds, Hyper the Super Emeralds, Darkspine was 3 of the World Rings, Werehog was Dark Gaia energy, Excalibur Sonic was the sacred swords, Wisp transformations needed the Wisps, Super Sonic 2 was Chaos Emeralds + Cyber energy....you get it.)
The way I've always saw it, is yes, Sonic is upset, but he also is being affected by the fake Emeralds.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the Discotek translation, I don't know enough Japanese to say how accurate it is, all I know know is "warui" means bad/sick depending on the sentence. An older translation (and the English dub) points to him feeling physically sick around them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Far as I can tell, he's already reacting bad to these Emeralds on top of being antagonized, so he uses power that's at his disposal does what the villain wants: fuck up his shit.
If the fake Emeralds didn't exist, this transformation wouldn't have happened. Additionally, since X ended and the only fake Emerald in the games was blown up in SA2, it can't happen again. (Unless you write scenario where someone makes fake Emeralds, but that requires writing for the form instead of just slapping it in à la characters in IDW.)
Perhaps I'm being too hard on a lot of kids that never really interacted with the source material and just wanted to write Sonic fanfics. I've read so many that made it quite obvious that the author didn't know anything about Sonic besides he's fast and I'm not really out here trying to say Sonic shouldn't inspire people to create. Never said I hated reading those fics, I got a good deal of entertainment out of them. It's simply this misconception has stretched so far, it's like the original context has been entirely erased.
And that's the part of Dark Sonic that bothers me.
I've seen plenty of arguments for why the transformation was a poor choice and I don't entirely disagree with them. For me, I could take it or leave it. It was a one-off short transformation in an anime where Sonic pretends to be Star Trek for a season, it just exists to me.
Although, it's been awhile since I last saw discussion of Dark Sonic, as a whole it seemed to be a bigger thing in the early 2010s. Possibly because now we have more recent Sonic shows and movies, it's not just X being the latest thing anymore. I certainly don't read fics like I used to, so I'd be surprised if it is still as heavily used as it used to be. Maybe if I get some time, I'll look up some fics and find out.

A few Ginger Breadhouse HCs <3
Ginger is not at all related to the gingerbread man, a very common misconception
Weirdly enough, ginger doesn’t actually have much of a sweet tooth. She barely eats any of what she bakes. She bakes so much only because it makes her happy to see others enjoy what she makes. She will be completely devastated if someone doesn’t like her baking
She’s very insecure and has always held a belief that she’s an annoying and unlikable person. She hates the thought of people not liking her, so she puts a lot of effort into being way overly nice to others so they will like her
since her stories original ending was to be burned alive, she has nightmares about that happening to her. it’s the only nightmare she’s ever had, and she has it almost every night. Shes unaware of what her stories original ending is so doesn’t know why she dreams this. She has a terrible phobia of fire now.
she collected shopkins as a kid during spellamentary. Now she collects squishmellows
She wears candy necklaces like normal accessories
She’s one of the few students who manages to be friends with everyone. Royals and rebels.
She has a lot of trouble with anxiety and panic attacks
She likes to clean to settle her nerves. You can always tell if she’s had a bad day just based on the state of her kitchen
Her socks never match. Her mom believed mis-matched socks bring good luck.
Cedar and cerise like to help her bake. They are terrible at it and are constantly on the verge of setting the kitchen on fire.
Ginger is too nice to tell them so or kick them out of the kitchen
Her favorite place in the world (after her kitchen, of course) is the mad hatters tea shoppe.
She’s there almost every day, whether it be for eating or studying
The hatter offers her free meals very often, but she never accepts, just puts the money in the tip jar
She rewatches her favorite shows over and over for years because she likes the familiarity
A small magic perk of hers is that despite her clumsiness, she has never caused an accident in the kitchen.
For example, if she bumps into a mixing bowl it will always teeter on the edge of the counter, but never fall. If she drops a knife it will never hit her foot.
Hopper has a bit of a crush on her. When she found out through one of her friends she immediately started liking him back, but only because he was the first guy to show her any attention. It took her a while to realize she didn’t actually feel the same way he did
She rarely curses
She had braces until sophomore year
shes an okay driver. She’s very safe. too safe, even. She goes way under the speed limit, pissing off the people behind her and shes not as aggressive as she needs to be.
She was always terrified of the idea of driving, but her mom made her get her license so she can run errands for her (things could go badly if someone in a grocery store recognized the candy witch, so she doesn’t like running errands herself)
