"have you ever noticed how football looks like a giant game of keep-away?"
bachira asked as he continued on mixing the two pigments on his palette. you paused on your sketching from your canvass to look at him. you couldn't help but snicker at his response. 
"i mean, it's just a bunch of grown men chasing a ball around, trying to hog it as much as possible. it's like a bunch of toddlers fighting over a toy."
you snorted as you playfully rolled your eyes at him. "how ironic, meguru." you sarcastically stated and continued on with your work, diverting your attention to the half-made composition you drew. "don't you want to read between those lines?"
you and bachira decided to have a craft night together, and bachira got really excited when you suggested painting instead of crocheting. after all, he had a reputation for being a man of action, and crocheting just seemed too 'delicate' for him. plus, the idea of being able to create something with his own hands really appealed to him. however, when he realized how much patience and focus it took to paint, he quickly regretted his decision and muttered something about how he should have stuck with crocheting.
but despite his initial frustrations, bachira actually started to enjoy painting once he got into the flow of it. he found that the creativity and self-expression he could experience through painting was a refreshing change from the rigidity and discipline of soccer training. he even started to experiment with different techniques and art styles, and you could see the excitement and fascination on his face as he worked.
bachira shrugged, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "i guess i let my inner cynic take over at times," he said, a slight blush creeping up his cheeks. "but honestly, sometimes it feels like that's all soccer is - just a bunch of dudes chasing after a ball and trying to score,"
you watch him dip his brush into the mixture of colors and then apply it to the canvas in a rapid series of strokes, creating an intricate pattern. "it's easy to forget that there's more to it than just that, and that the game can be so rewarding on so many different levels."
you smiled at his response, appreciating his willingness to share his thoughts and emotions. "i completely agree," you said, brushing paint onto the canvas. "sure, the thrill of scoring a goal is amazing, but there's so much more to the game than that. it's about teamwork, strategy, and determination. all things that can be applied to so many other aspects of life. it's what makes soccer such a universal and powerful sport, in my opinion."
you reach over to his side for a different brush from his toolkit to add a new texture or technique to his painting. you feel bachira's head nodding in agreement from your shoulder.
"exactly," he said as he looked over at your shoulder to gaze at your pretty face. "it's so much more than just a game - it's a way of life. and it's something that connects people from all over the world, regardless of race, religion, or language. it's a language that everyone can understand. a-and that's what makes it so special, in my opinion."
as the two of you sat together, surrounded by brushes, paints, and canvases, you couldn't help but notice the way bachira's eyes lit up with excitement whenever he talked about soccer or art. he took his time explaining the nuances of different strategies, and you found yourself getting lost in his passion for the game. you could tell that he was someone who loved diving deep into the details and figuring out the best way to approach a situation.
and it wasn't just his soccer stories that captivated you - bachira was an incredible artist too. you were really impressed. 'not bad for a first timer, huh?' you thought as you watched him humming a tune while painting. there was something truly captivating about watching him mix colors and apply them to a canvas, and you found yourself genuinely impressed by the beauty and depth of his creations. You could tell that he had a unique and powerful vision, and you felt honored to be a part of it.
clearing his throat, bachira decided to switch gears, "the way that painting helped me express my emotions and release stress," as he spoke, his voice became softer and his eyes more soulful, and you found yourself drawn in by his passion and eloquence. "and how every brushstroke was like a part of myself being transferred onto the canvas to be shared with the world."
as the two of you sat there, surrounded by the mess of paints, brushes, and canvases, you couldn't help but feel a sense of tranquility and calm wash over you. bachira's words, filled with passion and emotion, echoed in your ears, making you feel as though you were the only two people in the world.
it was as if time had stopped in that moment, frozen in place, allowing you to fully savor the depth of feelings between you. the silence was broken only by the occasional brushstroke, the sound of pigment on canvas almost mesmerizing in its own right.

but then, suddenly, you felt the sensation of a brushstroke on your cheek. bachira chuckled and pulled away from you, holding the brush in his hand. "i couldn't resist," he said with a boyish grin. "i thought a little bit of art on my sweet baby could add to the moment."
"wh-"
you watch as he dipped the brush into a jar of red paint and drew half of a heart on your cheek, using soft and careful strokes that made you feel as though your skin were being caressed. "what do you mean?"
then, he turned to his own cheek and you see him drawing the other half of the heart, before turning back to you.
"a little art that," he pressed his right cheek to your left so that the two halves of the heart joined together to form a full symbol of love and connection. "connects the both of us together."
you feel like you were going to cry then and there. the moment was so perfect, so full of both sweetness and passion, that you knew that it would be a memory that would stay with you forever. "because the heart that you gave to me is so special to me."
"meguru…"
he hears your faint whisper and looks at you.
"thank you,” you said softly, your voice tinged with both affection and reverence. “it’s so beautiful and meaningful…”
at the sound of your voice, bachira's eyes soften, and he leans closer to you, his breath warm on your cheek. you can feel the beat of his heart as it races against your own, and you know that you are both caught up in the same moment. it's as though the world has melted away, leaving just the two of you in a bubble of sweet, shared emotions.
as bachira's lips brush against your ear, his voice is little more than a whisper. "y/n, you are like nothing else in this world, and the love that i feel for you is something that i will never take for granted.”
the words seem to hang in the air between you, like a precious jewel that you both want to hold onto forever. for a moment, it feels as though time has stopped, and the two of you are lost in each other's gaze. the world around you seems to have dissolved, leaving only the two of you and the love that you share.
bachira kissed your forehead ever so softly.

"y/n!" bachira whined, the sound making you laugh even harder.
the two of you continued to laugh, your voices filling the room with a sense of warmth and joy. it was moments like this that reminded you of just how special your relationship with bachira was, the way that you could be completely and utterly yourself around him and still be loved and appreciated for it.
it was then that bachira spoke, his voice soft and almost hesitant. "y/n," he said, his eyes meeting yours. "this actually connects us, yeah?"
your breath caught in your throat at the simple beauty of his words, and you couldn't help but feel a lump form in your throat. "of course it does," you said softly, your voice almost shaking with emotion. "it's a piece of art that represents the love that we have for each other, and that's something that will always connect us."
bachira smiled, his eyes full of a tender warmth that filled you with a sense of peace and love. it was in that moment that you knew that this was a moment that you would always remember, a moment of pure and unadulterated joy and emotion that was unlike anything else you had ever experienced.

something i'm trying out... vaguefic. I wrote this with my obscure favs in mind but have changed the names to A and B and made some details more vague, so it might be enjoyed by people apart from me!
all the context you need is that A and B have worked together for a while and have recently gotten into a relationship. A is the lonely sort, quite awkward, shy at times, and autistic. this fic is about B's discovery of how tickling is just the sort of sensory input A craves.

It's something he notices over time, A's dogged pursuit of sensory stimulation.
The first and most obvious thing B picks up on is the music. It's a surprise, once he notices, that he hasn't thought about it sooner; the music is a constant in A's life. But it's not until weeks into their relationship that B really thinks about it.
The first thing A does when he comes home is put his music on. He listens while he does the crossword, while he eats, while he drinks, and while he showers. He listens to think, and he listens to relax. It's like, B thinks one evening, as he watches A scrub dishes to the sound of his favourite singer's voice, A's life can't quite flow freely without the music. Like it gets stuck on jagged corners and snags on silence, tugging at A's thoughts in the most irritating way, set free only when the music is there to smooth its way.
Once he's noticed that, he begins to notice the rest of it. Because A can't have his music everywhere. He has alternatives, instead. B thinks initially that they're just replacements for the music, for when A can't play it, but he soon realises that they're more than that. A doesn't just use one at a time - he'll use two, three, sometimes, or he'll wander between them, surrounding himself with sensory input. There's the pen clicking, for one.
It's easily mistaken for an annoying habit -- and it still is an annoying habit, really, and one B complains about -- but it's more than that, too. Sometimes, when A sits with his crossword, clicking away with that stupid pen, B will glance over and see him holding the pen by his ear while he clicks it, gazing off into the distance, clearly lost in thought. Annoying the sound of the pen clicking may be, but A is clearly getting something out of it, if he's doing it so close to his ear.
Then there's the thing with the hair. B picks up on that one while he's sitting at his desk one day, A standing nearby, his gaze focused thoughtfully on the notice board. His pen must be in his pocket or on his desk or otherwise inaccessible, because when A's hand goes idly looking for something to fidget with, it's his own hair that he finds. It's ordinary enough at first, and B hardly gives it a second thought - just fingers brushing through a few stray curls at the back of A's head -but then the hand stays there. And B's eyes stay, too, lingering, as A tugs gently at his own hair. Then he runs his fingers through it again, then scratches lightly, then tugs it again. A strokes his own hair a few times, pressing his curls flat, then letting them spring back up.
And that's all he needs, apparently, because he turns, then, that look on his face, the one that means he's worked something out and intends to follow the thought immediately. B watches him go.
It all sort of settles into place, after that, in his head. It's sensation-seeking. A is going about his days craving stimulation, finding it in textures he can run his fingertips over and sounds he can listen to, and creating it where he can't, with that infernal pen clicking and the tugging at his own hair. He's constantly understimulated.
B can't unsee it, after that.
He sees it in A as he goes about his business, and in his interactions with him. He sees it in the way A kisses. A presses close when he kisses, tilts his head, searches B's body with his hands, cupping, stroking, caressing, like he just can't get enough of touching him -- and maybe he can't.
It's on his mind one morning, one rare morning they both have off work, before either of them have gotten up yet. A is still asleep, so of course he hasn't gotten up, but B has been awake a while, just watching. A looks inexplicably cute while he's asleep. It might be something to do with the way he snuffles, rubs his cheek against his pillow, or the way he sleeps mostly on his front or his side, one arm generally twisted behind or underneath him in a position that can't possibly be comfortable to anyone but A. He's a tangle of a person, and he's beautiful.
A always sleeps in a vest and pyjama bottoms, which has the side effect - fortunate or unfortunate, depending - of leaving his freckled shoulders exposed, and incredibly tempting to touch. So, B does. He reaches out and runs his fingertips lightly over those pretty freckles. A twitches in his sleep, snuffles, smiles slightly.
B smiles too with fond amusement. He strokes A's spine, and his smile widens when A sighs and arches into his touch. Desperate for stimulation, even in his sleep. He moves his hand over A's warm back, smoothing the wrinkles in his vest down, until his fingers reach his side. Experimentally, B strokes him there, curling his fingers just slightly.
A twitches again, makes a noise, and smiles into his pillow.
B pauses. Might A be ticklish? He watches, worried he might've woken him, but the smile has stayed on A's face, and his eyes are still shut. He looks... well, he looks happy.
Well, then. The more B thinks about it, the more it makes sense. To a man so desperately understimulated as to sit there clicking a pen next to his own ear, what sort of bliss might it be for him to be touched in such a way?
B reaches his hand out again to stroke that spot, not quite tickling, though it's obvious that A is finding it ticklish anyway. He's squirming slightly, smile wider now, though his eyes haven't opened yet. It's not entirely clear whether he's awake. Well... B can soon straighten that out. He scratches lightly over that thin white vest, reaching around and letting his hand explore the whole of A's side, until he finds a spot that makes A jerk.
There he is.
B carries on with his gentle tickling until A is squirming properly, face buried in his pillow, giggling. "B," he manages, sleepy and confused. "What--?"
B goes in for a solid tickle then, attacking both of A's sides. A jerks again and laughter bursts free as he wriggles to evade B's hands. B reaches around him until he's got a good grip on A's waist, then slides him across the bed, pulling him close. Breathless, A lets out one more giggle, then relaxes a little into the cuddle. "Oh... good morning."
He's loving it. That smile, the one he can just about see from here, is the smile he so rarely gets to see. It's the smile A smiles when he thinks nobody's looking.
"Good morning," B replies, smoothing the palm of his hand over A's stomach. There's the slightest hitch to A's breathing, then. If B hadn't been listening for it, he might've missed it. He smiles into the back of A's shoulder.
Then, he wriggles his fingers into A's stomach. A yelps and twists immediately, only to now find himself trapped in the most tickly hug. No matter how he squirms or tries to shield himself, B's hands are everywhere, scratching at his stomach, squeezing his hips, poking into his ribs. A's giggles turn into shrieks and squeals as he wriggles desperately, but B's hands carry on and make their way up to scribble under his arms. A jerks again, head thrown back, laughter turned silent. That's when B delivers the final blow. He presses several quick, ticklish kisses down the side of A's neck, while his hands shoot back down to squeeze mercilessly at his sides.
A's laughter hits a new peak. B has never heard him laugh like that before. He's not even sure A has laughed like that before. He doesn't seem practiced in it - in smiling, laughing - and B vows to himself that he's going to try and make him smile like this at least once a day, from now on.
He's stopped, now, holding a breathless A in his arms, residual smiles on both their faces. Not at any point during any of that, B notes, did A ask for it to stop.
A turns in his arms, curling forward, tucking himself against B's chest. A minute passes, and B is just starting to wonder if A means to go back to sleep, when he hears him speak softly.
"Thank you."

Can you talk about your painting process?
Thank you so much for asking!!
I start with painting under my sketch with some soft brush. I use something different every time. It's mostly just blocking out rough light and shadow shapes at this point
Once I'm done with that I color the sketch layer to some fairly saturated mid- or dark tone, and merge it with the rough colors. What I change the sketch layer to will depend on what it's around (lighter skin will get hypersaturated dark red or yellow, a white shirt would get some desaturated yellow or blue depending on the ambient light). I make duplicates of the un-merged layers at this stage and put them in a new category (which I then make invisible) because I'm anxious about it lol, but I've never had to go back and use them
At this point I go in with a harder brush over the top (usually Veljet Ink from Tuhis 2021) and start cleaning it up. Filling in the shadows, adding highlights, smoothing things out, etc. Rendering is the most time consuming part for me and also my favorite :)
I typically jump back and forth between those previous two steps. If I get an idea for a certain highlight to add while blocking in colors I might add it then instead of waiting, or I might have to redo certain sections while in the middle of rendering.
While both putting in the rough colors and rendering, I'll sometimes go in with the smudge tool (I've set it to some highly textured brush) and add some lost edges. (Recently I've been using a lot of lost edges and while I still don't have them down it's a lot of fun for me :) it's another one of my favorite parts of drawing)
I like Veljet Ink so much because it's very crisp and is basically made of 5 lines--depending on how I hold my apple pencil, it'll either look like that or one slightly thicker line. This is fun for me because it lets me sort of mix colors without actually smudging them, because of the gaps in it if that makes sense? It also gives this fun blocky look that I like. Also, if it's small, you can't really notice it, but if I set it to something larger I get to do these big swipes of it in the background and it looks vaguely impressionistic in a way that I think is fun. It's also easy to do magicy effects with it too

my 2023 art summary! i know some people have been doing this so i thought i would as well :3 below is me talking abt my art (improvements/what i wanna get better with)
some things i wanna note abt how my art has changed over this year:
ANATOMY: ive gotten a lot better at anatomy! not many comments from me here
BRUSH CHANGE: the notable (and very needed) switch from a fluffy/textured circle brush to a rectangle, more marker-like brush! the firealpaca fluffy brush did me so dirty . so glad i switched brushes idk how i did art w/o my current brush for so long
SHADING: i think my shading has also gotten better, though i don't think its anything too huge? i could be wrong though!
PERSPECTIVE: i've definitely improved when it comes to perspective with posing ... imo, i think my art has gotten a lot more fluid :)
all that aside, here's what i want to try to work on this year with my art:
BACKGROUNDS: i need to work on drawing backgrounds really bad. i have no idea where to start though so ill try and at the very least figure that out!
WORK ON POSING: i have definitely improved when it comes to posing with my art, however i do feel like it's still a bit stiff.
POSTING MY ART: i often make art im proud of, and never end up posting it anywhere. i think a big reason i haven't is because i tend to not get any traction/notice when i do. might focus more on posting fanart this year :)
DRAWING MORE OFTEN: there tends to be times where i wont draw, this can be anywhere from a week at least to a month at most. when drawing, you (in the general sense) always learning new things, and going without drawing for too long can cause you to sometimes forget things you've recently learned, and you have to start from scratch with it. i think ill try to at least draw once every 2-3 days, if anything even just sketches to help my muscle memory!
but umm .. ya :3 thats kinda my rundown on my art! if u read this ty! hoping to be more active this year c:

Heck I don’t actually remember if Pure Vanilla/Dark Cacao was a request or if it was something I just planned to do on my own. I know it started out as my own idea, but sometimes that happens and then before I get to doing it, someone requests it and I just make it a request, and I don’t remember if that happened here
But regardless, this was a drawing I made of the idea for a purecacao fankid on it’s own, and I’m posting it as such
Now you’ll notice that this isn’t my usual format. This is because this isn’t her official design, it’s just that last night, I had this idea for a design of her as a young child with Dark Cacaoian clothing, and so I just wanted to make a quick doodle to show you
It was just going to be that picture in the middle, as it’s more sketchy and rough, and clearly not how I usually do these fankid requests. However when I finished, I realized that I made her too small. See, if I may explain some things, for my poorly drawn comics and other things that use that particular brush (it’s the Narinder Pencil if you want to know), and I don’t like enlarging pictures drawn with it because the lines get all blurry and it loses its texture. Prior to the Charcoal Cheese comic, for my poorly drawn comics I tended to enlarge the sketch to fit the screen, and then I’d completely redraw the lines. But here, I had already colored the whole thing, plus it was multiple layers to redraw, so I didn’t want to. But I couldn’t just crop down the canvas to fit it because my square canvases are already 500x500 pixels, they’re very small (and also I think the small size might account for why they may not show up in the best quality, but I’ve been using this size for over 2 years and I’m set with it, and I feel like changing would be too much effort). And I feel like making it even smaller would just tank the quality even more
Though to be honest, I’m glad I made a second version with my proper sketching process, as I was better able to figure out her colors and design
Speaking of her design, yeah this is sort of what I’m thinking for her look, at least in terms of hair, dough and eye color. She’s not gonna keep the braid though, that’s just a kid thing
I feel like maybe I should give her streaks, but I’m not sure where to put them or what color
Also I realize that I forgot to put KitKats on her design. I wasn’t planning to originally since this is a little kid’s outfit, but also in some of the artbook drawings, young Dark Choco had small Oreo shoulderpads, so maybe she should have something similar. I had an idea for her wearing tiny KitKat shoulderpads, but I forgot them. Ah well
Hmm, does she look like a purecacao kid? I’m looking at her and I feel like she looks more like her own character than related to them. Maybe it’s the lack of streaks
Oh yeah, and one more thing I want to add, I’ve decided she’s a post-canon kid, as in Pure Vanilla and Dark Cacao got together after the events of the Dark Flour War and canon in general. The story in my head goes that Dark Cacao developed feelings for Pure Vanilla, but was hesitant to tell him about it, maybe because he’s socially awkward and wasn’t sure how to, maybe because Pure Vanilla and White Lily had something going on and he didn’t want to stir up drama between them. But regardless, Dark Cacao felt that it wasn’t so much of a big deal since they were immortal, he could tell him when he felt it was right. But then the Dark Flour War happened and Pure Vanilla seemingly died, with Dark Cacao never telling him how he felt. But then years later, Pure Vanilla came back, and while Dark Cacao was of course overjoyed, it also caused him to realize that even being immortal, they don’t have all the time in the world, and he needed to tell Pure Vanilla how he felt, and so during the events of Odyssey, he confessed to Pure Vanilla, and then likely sometime after Dark Enchantress’s defeat, they got together, and later had this girl
Also this means she has a (probably) 30+ year older brother in Dark Choco, but it’s all good
I feel bad just keeping her unnamed, but I don’t know what to call her. *sigh*
Any suggestions?
But yeah, I just wanted to show y’all this idea. Don’t know when I’ll be finishing her, but I’ll draw her officially at some point

Right, the second abandoned soma project i talked about. This one isn’t as abandoned, I worked on it today actually. Got some inspiration yesterday. But yeah. It’s Splatoon au fanart, so, like, if you don’t know splatoon all things might not make sense. And If you find this from knowing splatoon and not soma, things might also not make sense. 
The project is two pieces of fan art for Soma x Splatoon that I haven’t finished. oh yeah. See other soma splatoon stuff I have made here. (there is more unfinished artwork and refrence I made for the boys in more splatoon proportions, ha. I’ll show that off here too, at the end. I like it.)
they’re battle pose things for turf war. The fist one I even colored, and I mingt shade and texture it sometime, Idk. Feels like a lot. I’ve got the brushes for it now though.

Agent 8 and agent 4 are there in plain clothes too. making their ink color black since the boys can’t change their ‘ink’ color. Lol. Yeah. this is basically ink=structure gel. they’re both goops. so yea. Also this is from before splatoon 3 was a thing and that’s why the agent’s inktanks are the splatoon 2 version. I copied poses from official artwork, because I could and the poses are awesome.

This is just a sketch, as you can see. (I’m actually working on line art/my cleaner sketch, but idk when that will be done if ever so you get this)  (also stole the poses here too, from more official splatoon artwork.)
they have custom weapons now! Based on cameras, since that is a splatoon-ish thing to base a weapon on that also has a Soma theme. When getting scanned, the first two times at least, they reference cameras, and Simon has a camera and a bit of a photography hobby, as seen by the pictures and camera in his apartment. I made the weapons in blender because I love 3d modeling sometimes and I love getting reference pictures of complicated objects wit hthe right perspective.

the polaroid slosher! You can see the inspiration better if you turn it around upside down. Should maybe chanfe that but it works for the pose of the sketch. It also has a inktank that is a previously used diver’s air tank (Simon 2′s in fact the top one of his back pack thing!) because I wanted to get references to diving equipment into the design, since that is also a soma/simon theme.

The DSLR brella! Based on a dslr camera, zoom lenses for a dslr camera, a camera tripod and the umbrella light things that photo studios have. Sadly no diving equipment in this one, tried to get it in but it just wouldn’t fit with the design. Brellas are pretty sleek, can’t fit that much on them, designwise. 
oh yeah. And the reference for the splatoon-style design of the boys.

they can turn into little ink creatures, my god! they have four limbs/tentacles in that form, no more, because that is how many limbs they have in humanoid form. also icons. Because i love the style of the splatoon dialogue box icons. 
(Also you may have noticed the inconsistent prosthetic of Simon 3 in these designs. In the sketch thing, I just forgot about it honestly, only noticed it now. we all make mistages. Like that one. Mistackes. Mistakes. we all make ‘em.)

and thank you for the question! i'll use stuff for bela and shadowheart as an example for ya for the two styles i usually do
warning, i am not a teacher and i'm still experimenting and learning so uhh some of this might be scuffed but is how i do it :>
also noting that i use csp or photoshop depending on my mood and what brushes i want to use but the same technique works for either and i use 2 brushes for the main bits and additional brushes if i want to add texture

1 - so after i have the sketch roughed, i usually put it on a multiply layer and add a background layer under it (i leave it white or almost white if i'm just doing a doodle or sketch) and i start to figure out the lighting and shading under the outline layer
the lighting is usually pretty rough and i'll start to understand what i'm going for as it starts to shape up but i try not to reduce the brush size too much so i don't get too muddled

2 - once i have the lighting somewhat how i want it, i start tweaking the color and i do it by using adjustment layers and manually painting. this part is kinda like cooking and tasting as you go, if i feel i want the image to feel colder/warmer i'll adjust accordingly but i will tell you how i did it for both examples below:

for bela, i actually painting above the shading/lighting layer and used "soft light" and "hard light" blending modes for the hair and skin to fit more with how i wanted it to look. i used color balance and curves for the background to get it to more of a purple/blue and darker
for shadowheart, i actually put the color below the shading/lighting layer and left the color as is and swapped the blending mode for the shading/lighting layer to "multiply" and then did adjustments using curves and gradient maps using "hard light" and "soft light" too and i think i had a "color burn" just for fun
this is my fav part of the process bc i just experiment and mess around with different layers. i usually have a vision for how i want the color and lighting to look but there's always room for new ideas! so i just mess around for a while here till i'm happy!

3 - rendering time! um i don't really have much advice here except i just start going in and rendering in closer detail. and remember references are your friend!!!

i sometimes end up changing the drawing quite a bit during rendering but that's okay bc as you go into detail, you will notice discrepancies from the pre-render stages
for the style i used with shadowheart i just paint over the outline pretty much with some bits of it left it and i blend more to smooth it out more. for the style i used with bela, i add back in any outlines i painted over that i wanted to keep

and at the end of the day it's your art and how you express it is what's always gonna be the best so trust your gut (and references) but also it's okay to take creative liberties and go with the "cool rule" :3
and keep practicing!!!! i def feel i've gotten better with drawing faces compared to a year ago

Better art ask: What Brushes do you use?
uhhhhh oh fuck
well mostly i use csp and custom brushes from the asset store. for details and jewelry and blood splatters and more i kinda just go ham with a bunch of them. but as for brushes i use all the time unfortunately some arent available anymore :( but sure i'll show them

its more of a pencil but was in fact designed for lines. at a small size and on a large canvas you dont notice the texture that much it just gives it a lil smth smth. outside that i also use what im pretty sure is the default textured pen bc i just like my lines with a bit of texture.

before fully moving to csp despite liking pretty much all of it more i struggled with coloring as i was deeply attached to the watercolor tool in csp. i tried and tried over and over to find a brush that worked the same and finally found one which was close enough. over the years i have tweaked it here and there. but when people say "i love your rendering!" it is almost always this bad boy doing most of the heavy lifting.

bad example but it can do hard or soft edges depending on the pressure. its soft, kinda transparent, and easy to control (for me anyways). you can also drag the colors around when blending which is helpful because i also use this to like. erase and redefine shadows too. i would link you but uhhhh i think i found this brush in. 2018-2019???? and i havent found it or the others mentioned unfortunately. problems that come with people deleting or privating brushes and also dling a bunch of them but i might have also changed it so much its not really the same thing anymore LMAO
also honorary mention for the standard round airbrush for gradients and to get very rough shading and form down. and also i will use the standard default colored pencil brush for highlights sometimes on skin or shiny fabric because i feel like it looks???? more realistic???? cause skin and fabric has texture. yknow.

Hello Meg I hope it is okay if I ask a question like this but how did you get your wooden textures on your brush in your sink clutter set so nice? I tried following syboulettes youtube tutorial for blender and substance painter and my textures in substance painter would not export even with the exact settings she used. You dont have to answer if this is an annoying ask sorry.
hi! ofc it's okay don't be silly. the wooden texture was a mixture of baking in blender and substance painter!
baking in blender:
open your mesh in blender, and notice the menu on the side i circled

select the little globe icon. these are my settings

after that is done, select the camera icon and change your settings to the ones below (margin can vary depending on your liking)

that's it for blender bake! you should get a grey texture! if some areas are black, that area of your mesh is blocked by another part of the mesh acting as a shadow. if the whole thing is black, something is blocking your whole mesh from the blender lighting. to prevent that click the little camera icon to get rid of it in the bake camera and you'll get the correct result

texturing in substance painter:
first you need to export your mesh as an obj file (not including the footprint which is the plane that sits underneath your mesh)

you'll be greeted with this menu. click "select" and find where you stored your obj file and click that. change the resolution to your desired texture size (i use 1024 you can do whatever you prefer)

it should look similar to this once loaded just with your mesh instead of mine. mine may look slightly different since i've moved some stuff to the right around

search for these icons to the right of your screen

select the highlighted icon and either scroll all the way down or click the icon for step 6 and it'll scroll exactly where you need to be

select your desired texture size, ensure all the highlighted mesh maps are checked and click "export textures"

you don't have to do this but i recommend it so there's no super harsh shine with the default environment map "panorama". click the icon shown on step 10 and click the box next to "environment map" and choose the one that best suits you. you might want to wait until after you apply a texture if you're unsure. this site has great environment maps if you're unhappy with the default ones they provide. for this mesh i chose "soft 1lowcontrastfront 2backs"

pick and texture you like, click & drag the texture on your mesh. it will pop up on your uv like below

i like to change the color to a grey shade so i can easily overlay it with other colors in photoshop. click the layer with the texture you dragged. then click "properties - fill". change your settings in step 14 shown highlighted. change the base color to your desired color.

fiddle around and explore. once you've gotten the texture you desire, click "file > export textures"

this menu will pop up. make sure your materials are checked to the left. change your settings to the ones highlighting below. output directory is where you're going to save your texture. size is based on the desired size you've chosen from earlier

once it's all done you should get this menu! if your texture for some reason exports to a blank black texture, click export again and it should work. i'm not sure why this happens sometimes but i've noticed just clicking export again always works.

Reflections On Stimming
I am constantly stimming. I have been more or less constantly stimming since the day I came out of my mother's vagina.
I also pick up new stims if I see a person doing them in the wild then I will adopt them. But, I've got some favorites that have carried me through all my years.
I have organized this from bottom to top:
Feet: I am almost consistently wiggling my toes. I prefer to wear sandals for this reason, for better wiggling. Plus, sweaty toes are the worse thing ever. I also rub my feet together like a cricket. If I am sitting in a wooden chair or stool then I will melodically bump my ankle bones against the support poles until those around me BEG me to stop. The soft pain and the sound and the movement come together like a release.
Legs: If I have to not stim while sitting, then I will jiggle my legs. One leg if I'm having a neutral time, both if I am sitting on my hands trying to mask. If I'm having a nice time watching TV and my legs are stretched out then I will also rock them back and forth.
I pace. I pace pathways into apartment carpets. I pace the souls of my shoes off prematurely. I pace in little squares. I change the shape of my legs as I walk in satisfying ways. The pacing is good.
I did not think of myself as a rocker. However, I recently was talking to a witch about a stone and she asked me to make my body like a pendulum to ask the soul of my friend if it was right for her and this witch was beside herself that I continued to gently rock as I entered my prayer space. I asked my wife about the rocking and she said that I only do it sometimes. I am annoyed that my body could do something that I hadn't noticed like that before.
If I have to wear an unpleasant waistband then I might tap my waist to distract myself from the unpleasantness.
In my hands, I like to trace the word "ella" which has been stuck in my head since Spanish class when I was 14. I also do finger tappies, where I use my thumb to tap each finger. I will also tap different parts of my face if I need to focus and the light is too loud or something. Rubbing things with a good texture is amazing, I love ceramic mugs for this. A couple years ago, my wife started buying me fidget toys. Sure that I would love them and that they would be helpful. She was right.
I pick - mostly at my hands until I bleed. I peel layers of skin off. This is something I've gone to great lengths to control. I also scratch until I cause injury if I don't stop myself. I think that I stim as self-harm when I am not listening to my body, usually pre-meltdown.
When I was a sophomore in HS, I saw my friend flap her hands and I knew I was a hand flapper. I was surprised by how autistic it made her look and so I committed to not flapping my hands, this is something I only do if I've lost my center. To be clear, I hadn't been diagnosed as autistic and she had, I absolutely had internalized ableism going on.
If something is particularly unholy to my nervous system, then I will recoil. My shoulders conduct a sort of wave or full body shiver.
I also stim with sounds and words that are enticing. I repeat them over and over and over. I wrap my mouth around them and scrunch them through the space between the neurons of my brain. I sing them. I hold my breath for the space of the sound and let it out in ways that sound interesting.
If I am at home and my bra's too tight and I've had to wear jeans for too long (I hate jeans) and my hair is pulling too tight and I need to brush my teeth and the light is too loud and the sound is too bright then I will run around while I fix it and let out a satisfying "AHHHHHHHH".
I count. Usually to 10, Sometimes until my brain thinks of a problem to solve or an argument to have.
Honestly, there are more. Stimming for me is a constant activity during my waking hours, I have tried for many years to control my stimming. I can redirect it, if I need to, into another stim but this requires I direct part of my brain energy into redirection which creates the drive to add a 2nd stim. But I can only hold off on stimming for as long as I can hold in my brain the idea that I need to stop the stimming from happening. This is a deeply boring thought that I do not hold for long.
I stim for joy, for self-regulation, to help me focus - like helping bring my thoughts in line or centering my insides. If I need to solve a problem then I stim because it helps to focus my energy in a particular direction. If I am watching a new tv show then I will shake both my legs and do finger tappies to help process the show; if I like the show then I will remember absurd details and dissect ridiculous plot holes and beg questions that nobody thought of. My stimming focuses my attention, but it also is how I process other feelings like joy and surprise.
It's part of my makeup, and for a very-very long time, I thought it was something wrong with me that I had to desperately control. If I ever get to sit in front of a person who could diagnose me as autistic, and they find that I have a makeup that follows patterns similar to the autistic community this is something that I will always be grateful for learning to accept about myself from my autistic friends.

omg thank you so much!!! and yeah id be more than happy to give u some pointers, i put them under the cut because i ended up rambling lol
my biggest tip: EXPERIMENTATION 👏 IS 👏 YOUR 👏 BEST 👏 FRIEND
the only reason i've been able to work on (and still improving!) my art all these years is because ive taught myself to kind of learn from different artists. if you wanted to make the best tasting cake in the world, wouldnt you want to experiment with different flavors before moving on to what you like?
what i mean by this is, dont restrict yourself basically!! any invisible rules you make for yourself should be ones you know you can follow reasonably, not because other people told you what does and doesn't work.
which brings me to my next point, which is to really take the time to study what you like in another artist's style. don't just take things from an art piece because you think it looks good. instead, try to point out what you really like and why, and then you can start asking yourself questions for your own art!
let's say you really like the way this artist chooses colors for their art. do they follow a certain pattern, or is it a different palette each time? what makes it work, do they make them really saturated and energetic, or are they toned down and calming? what colors do they use the most, and why? when you start breaking down one thing (i like the way this artist colors) into smaller things that you can ask yourself, then you can kind of set up goals you want for yourself. this way you're not making the artist's goals yours, it's more like you see what they see and what those goals look like to you.
another thing thats part of my process and kind of related to what i talked about above is having a references folder handy! for me, i tend to split up my references into 2 main categories: art references and art inspiration
what does this mean? well, art reference is like what i mean when i say to study other peoples art. when i see an art piece i like, i tend to put it in my folder so i can go back and look at it anytime. on the other hand, art inspiration could be photographs or paintings that you dont want to study the style of, but you just really like the overall tone it has, and maybe it gives you ideas for stuff you wanna draw
I dont take this art to steal credit or show to anyone else, its strictly for personal use!! and even so, when I do do this, i make sure to type in the artist's username or URL just because. when you go to the museum and take pictures of the paintings, you are saving them for reference, not to tote as yours on the internet!!
if you're uncomfortable with saving other peoples art, you could also just keep it on hand through a draft or save it! on instagram i bookmark art i really like, and on tumblr I sometimes save art to my drafts. whatever works for you honestly!
you can even go the extra mile and make more subcategories if you want! are you unimaginative when it comes to designing outfits? bam, outfits folder, now i can go back and look at outfits i really like! do you want to try different palettes, but you can't come up with funky colors? bam, palette folder for color palettes you like and want to play with!! anything to go with your needs baby!!!
you might have also noticed this if you've been following me for a while, but playing with your tools is also something i recommend! i tend to change my brushes any which way the wind blows, and like, nobodys really stopping me lol. maybe you feel like watercolor isnt your thing anymore, and you want to try coloring with oil pastels. or maybe you dont like the way this textured brush looks, so you're trying this one instead and before you know it, it's like oh my god where has this brush been all my life.
and finally, i want to share my personal opinion on art clones. "but puppy!" you wail, "art clones are copying other artists art styles, its lazy and theyre not putting in the work!" you're not wrong! but at the same time, do you think you would be able to make that super yummy blueberry muffin without that recipe on pinterest? i know thats not the same thing, but what i'm trying to say is, we all have to start somewhere and i think we should learn to respect the way other artists grow.
back in 2017, lots of people were drawing their ocs with big round shiba eye brows, and nowadays some people have moved on from that, while others continue to use it. and thats ok! its nobodys job to say what goes in art! did you know when rebecca sugar, the creator of steven universe, was 15, her art style was based on the invader zim art style? it's true!
so before you start calling yourself an art clone for even drawing the same angle of a line another artist does, ask yourself: am i pretending to be this person? if the answer is no, then great! nothing in this world is original as much as people want you to believe, and while i can't tell you what is and isn't okay for everything that goes in art, at the end of the day whatever you draw should be for you. i know this gets a lot of flack, especially when it comes to vivziepop clones because her art style is so distinct, but like!! if you know it's not her and that person isn't trying to copy exactly everything about her, then that's it!
i could go on about this more, but i really don't want to start anything and i think i made my main points clear. TLDR: open yourself up to different art styles, DON'T STEAL ART AND MAKE SURE YOU CREDIT THE ARTIST, clones are more nuanced than you think, and at the end of the day, look back on how far you've come and feel proud of yourself!

idk if anyone has noticed but i've been recycling the same off-white backdrop LMFAO and i used the "watercolour set" brushes to add the textures to that, sometimes i'll also use for the characters blush thingy as well
i use the "fuzzy brush" as a tone scraper for when i'm shading, normally i'll use a linear burn layer and block in the colour for the shadow and then i'll use transparency with this brush to erase the solid colour (sometimes u need to play around with the brush opacity to get it looking right i feel)

the "texture brush" um. that one is a nightmare bc i made it and how i illustrate is super "trust the process" so if it looks weird that's because it probably is, the short of it is i select a character outline and then use this texture brush to fill in the outline and then clip other colour layers onto that texture brush layer. if u want to change the size of the brush only change the dual brush settings or it's gonna mess everything up 😭. it's literally just more gritty texture stuff all of my art is made out of sand

Kōtarō Bokuto
he literally thought you died 
this was your first time sleeping over at his home and last night, y’all were stuffing your faces with treats until your stomachs ached
you had mentioned several times how you were feeling sick - even after bokuto took you out for a late-night run - but he just told you to take a pain-killer and sleep it off
but now he was kinda regretting not calling someone to help 
like what if the sickness was a symptom to a deadly disease which took you overnight?
plus, he had tried everything he could think of to wake you up: he shook you, he blasted music from his phone, he opened the curtains to allow blinding light to shine on you, he flicked spits of cold water onto your face and he literally wafted cookies around the room in hopes you’d catch the scent 
but it was no use as even after all that, you didn’t move an inch
he tried to check your pulse which he believed to be on the wrist but he couldn’t think it 
so either he was too stupid to find the exact location or......you didn’t have a pulse
he’ll admit, it was an eerie thought that there could be a dead person in his bed rn but even he considered that a rather outlandish idea 
how could a person as healthy as you just die overnight? so he did what any reasonable person would do in that situation-- no, not call a doctor
he held a funeral for his beloved s/o 💀
he gathered all five of the plushies laying around his room (all of which were owls) and lined them up on the foot of the bed 
‘we are all gathered here today to celebrate the epic life of my partner, (y/n) (l/n).’ he sobbed into the sleeve of the black blazer he had pulled out of his closet, ‘gone too soon.’
silence. but in his mind he was met by a chorus of ‘aww’s and whimpers from the crowd
‘i loved them. (y/n) was my rock; they helped me through some of the hardest points in my life--’
his speech was cut off upon hearing one of the audience members pipe up, ‘bo, what are you doing?’
a wave of excitement washed over him as he scurried up to the line of guests, closely examining each one, ‘i didn’t know y’all could talk!’
you rolled your eyes before leaning forward and gently tapping the back of his head, ‘it’s me.’
upon laying his eyes on you, healthy and alive, his lips curled into a foolishly large grin as he immediately pulled you into a tight hug, ‘(Y/N), you’re alive!’ he cried
you gasped at his rather dramatic reaction before slowly melting into his embrace, ‘yes, i am.’
as your lips parted from the skin of his jaw and he slowly let his arms fall from your waist, you finally inquired, ‘did you hold a funeral for me?’
bokuto’s eyes-widened at your ‘crazy’ suggestion, ‘uhhhh, nooooo.’
if his elongating of each word wasn’t enough to show that he was lying, the dead giveaway would have to be the sheet of A4 paper with ‘(Y/N)’S FUNERAL 😭’ written on it that was stuck to the door with blu-tac
ignoring his completely false reply, you leaned back on the bed and picked up on the owl plushies, gently stroking it’s soft fur, ‘are these the guests? why are there only five?’
bokuto shrugged, picking up one himself and absentmindedly attempting to balance it on your head, ‘seven; if you count me and you.’
you giggled, about to make a inquire about the names of each guest until bokuto suddenly through his arms around you again 
‘why didn’t you tell me that you are such a deep-sleeper before?! i was so worried - i thought you died! please never die on me again, (y/n)?’
you smiled, pulling back to plant a sweet kiss on his cheek, ‘i promise.’

Tōru Oikawa
he would take advantage of this opportunity lol
the first time y’all slept over together as a couple, he had no idea that you were as deep of a sleeper as you actually are
like he thought you meant ‘i sometimes sleep through my alarms’ deep-sleeper
NOT ‘IT TAKES A WHOLE NATURAL DISASTER TO WAKE ME UP IN THE MORNING’ DEEP-SLEEPER (/h)
anyway, at first, he’d probably just freshen up while you sleep: take a shower, wash his face, brush his teeth, floss etc so he’s no longer effected by that ✨morning crust ✨
but when he pokes his head out of the bathroom and noticed that your sleep asleep, he tries to blow-dry his hair bc he knows how much you like it when it’s all fluffy
but his blow-dryer was quite loud so he put it on for a few seconds to see if it’s wake you up and just as he expected, you were still sound asleep
so he blew-dry his hair until it was that soft texture that you liked so much- all while you were still like (∪.∪ )...zzz even though the blow-dryer was making a racket 
you were still sleeping and upon looking at the time, he realised that it was completely fair considering it was currently half past 8 and he had just woken up extremely early for some unknown reason
he didn’t want to wake you so he was just doing to go out for a run or make breakfast until he caught a glimpse of himself in mirror
o.O
despite his  puffy hair and pearly-white smile, he still looked sloppy
but it was definitely bc of his stained, torn, washed-out pyjamas tbh
he was just wearing an old T-shirt that he’s had for god-knows how long and a pair of grey sweatpants; it wasn’t a look
he had no idea what possessed him to wear such casual nightwear while you were at his house - especially when you chose to wear something so relaxed yet titillating - but he knew that he needed to change
after a while of rummaging through his nightwear drawer, the best he could find was a pair of white, silk, loose-legged trousers which he had bought for a halloween costume many years ago
it was pretty classy though :)) he was sure that you’d like it 
however, he still couldn’t find anything to wear on his top half but there is no fashion problem oikawa can’t solve 
thus, he went shirtless ( •̀ ω •́ )✧
he also threw on some jewellery too, just for the lols
you weren’t awake yet thought, so after he set up some candles to create a ‘mood’, he just sat next to you on the bed, scrolling on his phone and anticipating your reaction once you woke up
for a moment, he thought that he might’ve went when too far but upon taking a look at himself in his front-facing camera, he realised that there was no harm in spicing things up
once he noticed one of your eyes slowly flutter open, he quickly tossed his phone to the side and turned his body to face you, shooting you a kind smile and he gently ran a hand through his fluffy hair, ‘morning, angel~’ he cooed
you grumbled your greeting in response, then proceeded to rub your eyes to make sure you were seeing him correctly, ‘what are you wearing, tōru?’
‘can a guy not dress up for his special someone anymore?’
you rolled your eyes, playfully slapping his chest and going to hop out of bed until he pulled you back down against the sheets
a faint gasp escaped your lips but you were quickly hushed by oikawa pushing his finger against your lips, ‘you’re not going anywhere, (y/n).’

Kusuo Saiki
this was the first time you ever slept over at his house or next to him yet y’all had been dating for year and a half
he was just scared that he might accidently do something crazy in his sleep (bc of his powers ofc) and the last thing he wanted to do was hurt you 🥺
you were patient with him though but bc y’all had never woken up together before, he had no idea how deep of a sleeper you are
he thought it was cute at first bc you were laying there like the beauty you are, lookin’ all serene and calm and stuff
but after a while, he got bored on his own  #•̀ ︿ •́
also, you promised to bake macarons with him for breakfast and he was hungry as hell, still he didn’t want to eat without you but if he didn’t wake you up rn to make macarons, he’d surely starve to death while they were in the fridge
on any other day, he’d just try do it himself but when you helped him make food- it just hit different 😍
‘(y/n), wake up.’  he spoke into your mind using his telepathy, while light nudging your arm, ‘i’m hungry.’
you didn’t reply, seeming completely knocked out
he tried the next best thing, holding his annoying alarm noise near (but not too close) to your ear
still nothing, though
his last human attempt was aggressively pulling your blanket away but even after that you showed no signs of waking up so he realised that he’d have to resort to using his physic abilities
he considered using his astral projection to possess your body but he felt as though taking over your body might cross a few boundaries 
but he did try duplicating himself so he could shake you from many different angles but it was still no use
he continued to use his telepathy to try wake you up but it didn’t seem to work either
after multiple different attempts of using his powers to try wake you up; here he was, standing in the middle of some dystopian, apocalyptic scene - alarms ringing in the distant along with sirens, screaming, honking and wails. everything around him seemed to be engulfed by flames which created thick, smoky air 
he wasn’t really sure how he got here but he was pretty sure it started around the time he tried to form an energy ball 
whatever 🤷‍♂️ it’s no biggie
he jumped back in time so he was standing next to your bed once again, exactly where he left off before he created the energy ball
he stared down at your sleeping figure and let out an exasperated sigh as he realised that he’d have to employ one of his most dangerous tactics
he really hoped it didn’t have to come to this
‘(y/n), if you get up right now.’ his voice rung through your head, ‘i speak with my voice.’
just like that, both of your eyes shot open as you hastily sat up on the bed
‘do it, saiki!’ you cheered, a foolishly large grin plastered on your features
and he couldn’t help but smile too 
curse you for being so cute
