When I go for walks I like to sing along to my playlist. I've become a big fan of Canadian folk singer Stan Rogers over the last few years, and one of my favorite songs of his is The Mary Ellen Carter. It's about the crew of a sunken ship defying their boss's orders and raising it back up to the surface against all odds. Well, I JUST realized how a burly white guy singing "rise again, rise again" in a southern accent in North Florida may come across to an outside observer...

I probably shouldn't sing that one too much.

ok computer stuff. if you want the full sordid details theyre under the cut tl;dr it's like a ship of theseus in here

my pc was a custom build by a college friend of my brother's who souped it up to be a top of the line gaming pc, then sold it to my brother when it went out of date, then he gave it to me. so by the time i started having problems with it it was 10 years out of date, like still built to run windows 8 and shit, WOOF. we ended up buying a new motherboard, processor, and ram sticks, had an issue with the motherboard's video card but solved it with help from a very nice msi help desk agent, and then had to go and get a new hard drive and OS - it turned out it was probably the hard drive that was bad, not the motherboard, but my dad assures me that this was all for the best and i really needed and upgrade anyway, and i trust him! i'm gonna get way farther on this equipment than the old stuff. even though the only things still the same are now the video card and the computer case. AND my 1tb solid state storage drive with all my files still on it. YIPPEE for not losing my stuff!!! i'll have to redownload all the programs but that's fine. all in all i'm out about $600 which SUCKS but is a lot less than it could have been, and i haven't used my desktop in two weeks and i miss it so fucking bad. i wanna draw so fucking bad!!!

anyway on that note. i might open commissions of some form to help with that bc i have to pay for an anthrocon hotel room soon so uh. eyes peeled for that!
