what's your LEAST favourite herptile? the stupidest frog? the ugliest lizard? no, not either of those. so which one is it?
it's actually the very word 'herptile'. It's like saying 'birdosaurs'.
I'm guessing it stems from people wanting to expand 'herp' out into a longer word that is a noun for the animals we study as herpetologists or are interested in as 'herpers'. But that doesn't really exist. So we get this weird portmanteau of herp and reptile, apparently forgetting the amphibians. Reptibian or Amphibitiles would be better portmanteaus if we actually wanted a reasonable word representing both groups.

y'all stop saying fyodor has never looked so sincerely angry before. he has.
I know this because, and this is not an exaggeration, the vast majority of my manga revisits are to enjoy his expressions of anger, disdain, and malcontent. i shit you not, several of my bsd meta posts wholly unrelated to fyodor were written because I happened to notice something else while flipping through to imbibe fedya's hissy fits. I don't reread the manga when I do this, just those scenes, unless something else catches my attention.
anyway, stop disrespecting my beloved pastime.
#bsd#bungou stray dogs#bsd fyodor#most people are remarkably bad at reading expressions#not me though#this isnt a bit i fixated on how emotions are nonverbally communicated so that i could lie better and to develop a pleading face#for most of elementary school i studied people's faces and workshopped my own by getting feedback from others and testing them in the field#then in 8th grade my gifted program teacher made us take an assessment on how well we could read faces#to debunk body language expertise#and demonstrate the fact that most people think they can read faces but most of us cant#emphasizing why trials and presumptions based on assumptions that we can are harmful#everyone predictably failed real hard#except for me. i made an 80%#my teacher made me take it again and explain to her my process.#then she asked where i learned it and i explained to her that i never got stickers at naptime in kindergarten because i never slept#so i began obsessively refining my fake sleep#it took months but i figured out how to coordinate all of the tells and it worked i started getting stickers#so then i started to practice other states of mind#and she marked me an outlier and removed me from the data 😭#anyway. all im saying is. i love fedya's face.

Just got a rude reminder about how great it is to never have children/ be an only child.
There's too much drama involved with dying, apparently.
#when grandaddy died. everyone was arguing over this and that. speaking over his widow and trying to plan his funeral instead of her and his#two daughters. three people who truly knew and listened to him. My mom was almost forced out of the first row at the funeral service by her#step brothers. mom and I got cheated out of things that were bequethed to us. and there was a lot of fighting.#my brother died and his son wanted some ashes. Momma didn't know until it was too late bc my nephews mom and her family wanted to start shit#he was not allowed to come with us to the graveyard. they forced him to leave before he could speak for himself.#some old man just died and my mom's friend (who made herself the center of attention at my brother's funeral) just called bitching and#cussin about some body shooting a dog and starting all kinds of shit over dogs and land and all that jazz like#and watching Dallas... both J.R. wanted to figure out all RB's scars collected throughout her time in Hisui and i accidentally ended up making a proper ref sheet for it oops. this is what she ends up with after a year+ of wandering the wilds and getting attacked by crazy megafauna, and it's not even including all the injuries that DIDN'T scar, like countless bites, scrapes, bruises, cuts, etc, or ones that leave no mark on the skin, like a badly rolled ankle, a broken collarbone, psychic whiplash from tanking too many confusion moves, soul deep nerve damage from Ghost-type overexposure, etc
a lot of these are covered in the outline of her story i've got plotted out, but i'm sure when i sit down to actually write it as prose there will be more that pop up

look I don't know why people are being bizarrely defensive over preferring campaign 3 to past campaigns. and honestly I don't really care. but it is very funny. we're watching the "every past campaign has been building up to this, the villain was set up in C2, one of their greatest allies is a PC from C1, two characters were built explicitly as Campaign 1 callbacks" campaign. The heart wants what it wants but I can't really see anyone enjoying Campaign 3 let alone preferring it without at least having a great deal of respect for both past campaigns.
