❝ the only way to defeat a superior enemy is to stop at nothing." Hold nothing back, stoop to whatever low you needed, spill as much blood as need. An eye for an eye. The look that the FLAME MANE gives to her companion is nothing short of inhuman, the icy gaze of a god and the burning flames of the divine tool that bent to her will. Her Prowess- "to become what they fear. ❞
Tumblr media
The raw severity within such a declaration stops him cold within his tracks. Biting, conscious, there were multiple layers that caused their once amiable surroundings to grow thick with apprehensive tension after hearing such a bold declaration. It causes such a pained and alien feeling to pulse within Thoma's heart as the sight of those eyes, once warmed and fair now being replaced with this wild intensity succeeds in leaving him speechless.
Part of him couldn't help but question if there was an underlying feeling within all of this. If Dehya's mannerisms were moreso a test than a genuine belief that she ripped from the war torn memories of her soul. It causes his body to shudder with some sort of feeling as he immediately loses any desire to remain stationary, quickly making his chair scrape against dusted ground as he draws himself up and onto two firm feet.
A tinge of fear found itself mingling contently with the bubbling frustration as the answer strikes true at his heart. Allowing for his jade eyes to flare with the remnant growth of humanity's own divine strand, he quickly pushes to the challenge, stepping forth in a way that could be confused for an entirely different gesture; a manner of challenge. "And then what? Reap and revel in that satisfaction despite closing that divide in personalized strength?"
To enjoy that poisonous hand of cruelty?
Something about the depths of such thought struck something worrisome. It gives him vivid imagery of the vile and dangerous extremes that the Vision Hunts took. Where no life was innocent or excusable enough, where any means to net the advantage, to suppress and annihilate their enemies would happily let the masses pay a price they never even knew existed once upon a time.
Tumblr media
He'd keep his stance firm despite the visceral, almighty stir of power tucked within the fangs of Dehya in this very moment. Resolving himself to become equally immovable, this part of his heart had to be shared.
"Becoming an antithesis is enough in my eyes. Taking their lives if it fits the situation is enough, but to break them down into raw terror as some sense of getting even is an aspect I absolutely refuse."
"For those I fight against, I burn my lessons of the world onto them, to challenge madness as someone with reason."

I actually think Dorian and Orym should fight more.
Remember when their slowly building tension over and entire episode (full of passive aggressive remarks and blame throwing) led to threats? And how after, Orym thanked Dorian for handing over the crown sadly because he knew Dorian would be mad at him? And Dorian couldn't even look at him because he was legitimately hurt, thinking Orym was disappointed in him for doing what he thought was right? That was peak.
The fact they went from that to their current closeness and trust is the best part of their entire dynamic. Their relationship was hard fought and still will be. They will fight for it because they respect and care for one another deeply, and their disagreements don't change that, only improve it.

Something that kills me is how Bell in almost every case seems to hesitate when faced with killing Adler despite the fact they should want to. Yes they can and will kill him, but in most endings it’s not something they seem to jump at the chance to do. Of course theres the lighter in the duga ending and how Bell will indulge him. Bell can also simply not call an ambush even if they unlock the back room which could be interpreted as not wanting to kill Adler/hesitation.
What i barely see anyone mention really is how debatably they do hesitate on solovetsky too. In my opinion, they had to at the very least have been suspicious that Adler would try something. especially towards the end of his speech. Yet they don’t raise their gun until Adler raises his. Secondly, also in my opinion Bell had a shot lined up just barely before Adler did, yet it seems like they didn’t even shoot.
This contrasted with how Adler is so ready to kill Bell no matter what really just reinforces their relationship. Adler is not attached to Bell. it certainly seems more personal than he wants to admit, but he’s not attached even if he does ‘respect’ Bell enough to give them a decent death in Solovetsky. However Adler knows Bell is attached to him whether they like it or not and uses that to his advantage which is why he does half the things he does.

Some notes on some stuff
An update on creative pursuits:
I can now honestly admit that part of me never thought I'd be able to say this, BUT! Adore part 3 is now completely written. Let me be clear, at no point did I give up on hoping and wanting to finish it, but for a while in the past year it felt like an absolutely insurmountable task that I would never wrap my brain around. I want to give myself some time to sit with it, so it's not getting posted yet, but I will give a tentative, rough estimate of late March or early April for the first chapter. Surprise surprise, it's the longest instalment yet, at over 60k words.
Concerning binding and other transformative works:
I've had a few inquiries about binding Adore verse and I don't think I've answered most of them (sorry!), so I'll just say this:
I give blanket permission for anyone to create a binding, podfic, translation, or artwork of any of my stories. I don't even mind if you don't ask me first, as long as you tell me about it once you share it. In the case of bindings, I'd love to be sent a copy, if at all possible. In the case of any other works shared in online spaces, I'd just like for you to include a link back to the original work on AO3. And for translations, I'd prefer that it be kept on AO3 itself, because I really am not a fan of other fanfic hosting websites. If you have any other questions, feel free to shoot me a DM, and don't be shocked if it takes me several weeks to respond, because that's just how I roll.

oc time again! + her town & culture (heavily inspired by pre-roman italic populations)
she is suri sauthon. her story is linked to my swtor imperial agent, tar'x, but most of her life except for the one year away where she meets him, is spent in a town in the mountains of mirial.
Tumblr media
despite mirial being cold and desert, and many cities developing underground, her town flourishes thanks to a force nexus, venerated in the form of an ancient, sacred, alive crystal. the ecosystem of that mountain depended on what "the horned crystal" was capable of giving them, but mirialans couldn't live off of that alone, so they developed trade and some rudimental technology, even if oftentimes it was bought thanks to the highly profitable trade of a plant used to make medicines that slowed down aging and had overall healing properties.
note: everything that's generated by this nexus has these healing properties BUT they have to be processed, except for those who bathed in the waters of the cavity under the crystal - the "real" nexus, but not the worshipped one. the waters were sacred but they were not thought to be miraculous, unlike the crystal, who instead was thought of as the keystone of the ecosystem: without it, everything would fall apart (and that is partially true: the cavity was the "real" nexus but thanks to the crystal, also strong in the force, the properties were spread all over the mountains). those who bathed in the cavity's waters - so, all of the town, who had a sort of baptism there - could eat the plant, make whatever food with it, and not only that plant, but everything generated by the nexus, that, again, had similar properties. this allowed people to live up to normal life-spans without advanced medicines or, much, really. to those who didn't live there, though, after the processing, had incredible effects, slowing down aging - for those who took it regularly - and making people able to live up to half a century more than the average]
originally, there were four tribes of nomads that lived thanks to horned farm animals that decided to settle down into one bigger town and other smaller settlements, to live off of transhumance. this division of the tribes stayed into the political and social organization: every person belonged to one tribe specifically, and had slightly different rituals and culture. for examples, each tribe had their own priests and healers, with different techniques and traditions. the town, tho, was guided by a group of people in the high priesthood, a position you could reach only by having earned the trust of all tribes. those high priests had many roles: they guided the people into sacred processions common to all the tribes, they managed the trading with outsiders, they did the maintenance of the temple of the summit (the one that functioned as casket to the crystal) and created a special liquid to offer the crystal that helps it grow.
Tumblr media
this particular temple was important because 1. it was very visible, from every angle of the town, and it became an important identity symbol; 2. it stored the venerated horned crystal; 3. it had the altar where sacrifices were made for the crystals. that altar had a hole connected to the cavity, that allowed the liquids to reach the underground; 4. it had various symbols: statues representing each tribe + the high priesthood, and typical mirialan tattoos carved into the wood of the trees that served as columns for the temple, symbolizing 8 values that who dared to enter HAD to have; 5. it was on the way to an important lake (called "mother lake" because the lake the town was built around to depended on the waters of that other lake) where they traveled to in important processions; 6. it was said that a the wizard who unified the tribes made it with its magic, making the plant grow to hold the temple's roof. this wizard was, actually, a force user, obv.
BACK TO HER THOUGH: she's daughter of one of the high priests, who was in charge of managing the trades with outsiders, and lives in a house on the mountains with her mother and him. her parents are from different tribes (that's one of the things that earned him trust from the 4 tribes): when a child is born from two different tribes, they don't pick one to allign to, but they're usually linked automatically to the one with more relatives in it (in her case, the father's tribe: she had many uncles and aunts on his side while her mom only had one sister).
later, though, she got quite tied to her mother's tribe due to a mysterious illness that only her mother's tribe healer was able to cure. she spent 4 years (from 10 to 14 years old) living with the healer and learned her secrets. to better study, she wrote them down. when she returned home, she studied to become a priestess with her father. at 22 (the average age: you can't become priest before your 20s), she was supposed to take a test and become a priestess, but the healer of her mother's tribe died and the tribe asked her to take her place. she couldn't technically do that, but both tribes estimated both her and her parents and she was allowed to become both. she then decided to try to become a high priestess, and became one at 25 (a quite young age). being part of the council, she tried to convince the various tribe healers to unite their knowledges and write them down, and eventually made it. healers still remained tribe based but they now had an "upper, inter-tribe level" similar to high priesthood.
years later, the sacred horned crystal is stolen from the temple by some Hutt mercenaries looking for a profit. given the trust she has earned from all the tribes and the fact that her father is the high priest that deals with outsiders (and she's been hearing stories and advice about it since she was little), she is the one tasked with getting it back. without the growing crystal, the keystone to their ecosystem, the village would have lasted only a few years. in hrr quest, she meets imperial intelligence agent tar'x laran and, as they "solve the mystery" and fight to have it back, they get closer. they'll get married and have a daughter, Vegoia (who's the only one who actually will get to the plot of my story. this was all background)
#i overdeveloped this part of the background. IT'S QUITE LITERALLY USELESS. like. Vegoia will have so few memories of it (she'll become jedi)#i will make a post about her too when I'll finish designing her and outlining her story BUT that may be difficult cuz the frame for the mai#story is quite difficult to match with how developed the other stories are getting and i have to figure it Much Stuff yet#so I'm using these post to like. fix a certain part lf the lore because even my own notes are getting older and messy. better to start over#ANYWAY for those curious & who are still reading (if u exist. WTF THANK U!!); my main story is actually a research file in the jedi archive#BASICALLY i was trying to write my own story for years but then i watched a video (tcw doesn't hold up by sheev talks i think) and i finall#understood how to frame all of these stories together in a way that i feel can add to the star wars lore (because. the others were just#like. okay but who cares unless me? and i did want to have a cool frame that maybe some nerd would be interested in looking into)#so: when ahsoka anakin and obi return from mortis; they tell the council about it (yoda knows about it in s6). sheev talks complained that#it was incredibly full of stuff that was done so poorly it could ruin a big part of the original sw story itself and it was never brought u#again. and honestly i agree. SO my story is about a jedi that is tasked with research on the celestials & by having him figure out stuff i#can minimize/limit/reframe some of the controversial things in there (i love mortis arc so bad but i also agree with his critic. I'll Fix™)#so. many stories will be about people who have previously seen the celestials or have been to mortis one way or another (pre-tcw obv) & hav#had experience & knowledge that the researcher is looking for. so i get to have an anthology with many stories#and have a cool frame I'm intrested in developing + i can experiment with different storytelling styles depending on how he finds out stuff#+ there was another sw story with a similar frame i think? so if i decide to write the story as if it was the file itself and not the searc#i can have even a REFERENCE of what a file like that is supposed to be. LIKE. IT ALL FITS!!!#sw#star wars#swtor#the old republic#star wars oc#imperial agent#star wars fanart#mirialan oc#mirialan#star wars story#star wars the old republic#oc: suri sauthon

@orangerosebush's post here, with my comment and @fowlblue's tags today got me thinking.
Artemis Senior has been teaching his son matters of business from a young age. Not only was Artemis, at 11 years old, discussing stocks with his father, but Fowl Senior had been imparting his wisdom onto his son for years by that point, discussing the ever-increasing value of gold with him before tucking him into bed. Even outside of pure monetary value, Sr. had tried to go legitimate with his business dealings, leading Artemis to have a few legal ventures of his own.
We also see very early on in the books that Artemis has been regularly using Butler as a resource for his plots: bouncing ideas off him was apparently a fairly common tactic when he was scheming.
Both Artemis Senior and Butler are interested in (or at least, not opposed to) educating Artemis on the ways of their lifestyle(s). It would be Artemis Senior who would have taught his son the value of banks and safety deposit boxes and hidden safes but it was Butler who was actively working with Artemis to rob those safety deposit boxes.
In the same vein of breaking-and-entering, TLC also gives us the fun little moment where Butler hands Artemis his own lockpicks, to get into the workings of the bomb.
With one line we learn that Artemis knows how to pick locks, but does not have his own set of lockpicks. Butler, on the other hand, has both the tools and knowledge how to use them. Partnered with a brief mention in TTP of some the specific trades of those previously employed by Artemis Senior (including such things as crime lords, insider traders, and cat burglars), we can extrapolate that Artemis Senior would generally hire someone to pick a lock for him, rather than do so himself.
It's pretty logical to conclude then that Artemis learned big-picture management from his father, and day-to-day skillsets from his bodyguard.
Essentially, Artemis Senior taught Artemis how to run a criminal empire. Butler taught Artemis how to be a criminal.
#artemis fowl#artemis senior#domovoi butler#and this doesn't even get into the aliases butler has!#he clearly has a lot of his own but then Artemis ALSO gets some#'what's our cover' 'i thought Stephan Baskir and his uncle Constantin'#Artemis Sr put his own damn name on the boat he was using to get cola to russia#you know damn well *he* didn't encourage Arty to hide his identity#(i'm not getting into the needs of artemis to hide his identity due to being a child and wanting respect afforded an adult in these tags#that's a rant for a different time)#there's such a prevalent theme of a Fowl saying 'i want X' and their Butler saying 'i know a guy'#(like 80% of the time the Butler would be The Guy but there's that other 20% where having extra contacts would be helpful)#we see it when Artemis asks Butler to make certain arrangements for capturing Holly and then again getting the mirrored contacts#we see Butler arranging car rentals or drivers and apparently needing to do so quite frequently#yet in TTP Sr just says he'll casually take a limousine where he needs to go#it's probably such a huge part of the Fowl-Butler dynamic to have someone who can actually perform all the necessary minutiae of daily crim#or at least know how to or know someone who knows how to#aaaaand now i'm thinking of how the Butlers are essentially disposable#sure death is a thing but how many Butlers were imprisoned for the sake of saving their Fowl the same fate#if someone's gotta take the fall for a crime it might as well be the person who'd take a bullet for the other#once you've already agreed to be on the wrong side of the law and accepted that you may give up your life (physically) for someone#what's taking it a step further and agreeing to give up your life (metaphorically) by languishing in jail for 10-80 yrs

we as a society really need to get into the torrid awful years long harry/hermione affair that started with them stumbling into bed together during the horcrux hunt when ron left. btw
#like hello.#ive never shipped them but this wont get out of my head#something something both of them being orphans (bc hermione obliviated her parents) and both of them being muggles#ron is a pureblood and like. while he’s still a traitor he always has the option to just opt out#go into hiding#death eaters probably wouldnt be actively looking for him#not when the focus is Killing Harry Potter#AND HE DOES OPT OUT#HE LEAVES BECAUSE HE CAN#harry & hermione could never. the war is literally waged on their blood#muggle born orphans & the only two out of the three of them who were ever up close and personal with a death eater#<- something very compelling about them finding comfort in each other. i think#like do you guys remember the scene in halfblood prince at the end when the golden trio + ginny are chillin in someones room at the burrow#and harry & ginny are dating#its such a like ’this is what we’re fighting for❤️’ moment#well. what if harry&hermione are changed after the war in ways that ron (pureblood) cant comprehend !#and now theyre both planning their weddings to their respective weasley because This Is What We Fought For#but ginny doesnt understand harry & ron doesnt understand hermione#and harry doesnt understand ginny & hermione doesnt understand ron#very compelling to think about how something just. shifts between h&h during the war#they never planned on telling ron or anyone bc it was war and it didnt count and nothing was real#but now the war is over and its not as easy as they thought to just go back to how things were#me&kara agree that they end up fucking again after freds funeral#the three of them have been attending so many funerals as a trio#but this one would have ron w his family more.. & harry and hermione sticking together#theyre all staying at the burrow after the funeral and h&h stumble into each other in the kitchen in the middle of the night#and they end up having risky no talking super quick kitchen counter sex#and the actual affair Begins..❤️#never in my fucking life thought i’d ship harry&hermione but here we are

rody has such a low self esteem. of course, right?
"why would a criminal like me be worth getting hurt over"
"truth is, i'm pretty lame"
"look, i'm a worthless delinquent, deku. i can't take on the world, much less save it. i'm not a hero like you."
i know that last one was said while he was feigning compliance with flect, but i don't think he was lying when he said that. i do think there was truth to his words, the way he viewed himself. it makes deku telling him that he did great, that he's amazing all the more meaningful.
...that said, he still thinks pretty lowly of himself. this is evident in the team-up mission. in a small way, sure, but still something worth noting.
Tumblr media
"i feel like i've done nothing but put [roro and lala] through hard times"
this line right here is indicative of it. rody was doing what he could to provide for his siblings and yet he feels like he's responsible for putting them through a rough period...
i also wanna address this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(as a side note, i wanna say good on deku for asking both jirou and shouji to accompany them since they have recon quirks and are going around a big city with two little kids)
rody is doing a good job of raising his siblings!! when roro and lala wanted to buy those pilot goggles, they made sure to ask the heroes! they made sure that they were not alone! he taught them how to be safe!
but... notice what rody assumed when he saw that roro and lala weren't there?
Tumblr media
"i told them not to walk off with strangers"
he immediately assumes that they disregarded what he said. this is a reasonable assumption for sure, but the reason why i bring it up in my argument is because rody does have a level of trust in his siblings. in whm, he knew that he could leave them alone, that they would remain at home, and that they would make dinner and take care of themselves if he was out for an extended period of time.
this assumption of his paired with him feeling like he's done nothing but put them through hard times... it tells me that rody doesn't feel like he's doing a good job of raising his siblings.

Quackity: Oh, it's gonna be so cool to see how this develops. I'm excited, I'm gonna try my best. I'm not the greatest at Minecraft whatsoever, I did nerf Green Team a little bit by accident on the second day. My bad! But, you know, I'm so ready to just grind out and see what we can do, and I just–
I wish everyone saw it with the same amount of, like, kind of enthusiasm. I think all of this and all the development and all the potential arcs, that's going to fcking allow for something absolutely incredible.
And if anyone ends up clipping any of this, something I do want to say is I implore people to view everything with a lot of enthusiasm. No stress, no anxiety, just a lot of enthusiasm. Because, again, this is going to allow for a lot of cool things in the server. Not just now, but in the future, too.
