what do you use to make your art? I’m very curious. Like apps and stuff like that.
(you don’t need to answer I was just wondering.)
Have a great day/nigh!
Hi!
i use a pen display tablet from Huion (cant remember the exact model rn, its a bit of an older one (a 2019 redone edition) idk if they still make it) on my desktop PC and Clip Studio Paint EX (Vers. 3 one time purchase, slowly upgraded it over years, my first version was one where it was still called Manga studio and came free with my first tablet xD) for all my art, be it illustrations, comics, animation or pixel art, though its less optimized for the latter with a few tricks it works just fine :3

After the manga’s done, I want them to redo the entire anime.
Sp ruined it with all those bsa moments when it’s not even a ship in the manga, and cut Sumire out and created ksu eps for them.
They even limited her to a background character so she won’t steal trashrada’s spotlight (even tho the more spotlight midrada has, the more she’s gonna be hated).
And they try and push ksu to get Sumire out of the way.
When I first read the Boruto manga, I thought “this is the best next generation I have ever seen”, because unlike some (I won’t name), they actually try to make things different. They live in peace currently, and Kishi still makes problems for them and I like that about the series, and the writing of the characters and drawing of them.
But when I watched the anime, I realized that it’s NOTHING like the manga. It’s full of bsa moments. Hell, they even made MORE moments and made the exisiting ones MORE bsa (for ex: trashrada being more determined to carry Bolt than she was in the manga. I think it was during the Kawaki arc).
They’re the most biased, f*cked up studio out there. You’d think they’d learn their lesson. THEY’RE the ones that’s gonna get backlash when bsu becomes canon.
Switch studios and let’s start the entire anime from scratch because I’m so pissed at them
I doubt that will happen since they didn't do it for Bleach the anime won't get a remastered version till years if at all.
I do agree though SP greatly limited Sumire while being completely bias and giving Sarada filler moments all the time that it makes no sense like how she suddenly teleported across the room to protect Boruto with two tomoe Sharingan and some tanked said attack just by blocking. Like it completely broke the immersion just to force a BoruSara moment if Sarada could handle that attack then even if Boruto got hit it wouldn't have done anything to him let alone her magically being able to end up in front of him.
With how often they done this shit they really need to stop with letting their bias get in the way.

Rambling about old art program
I'm mostly doing this cause I want to ramble & I don't want it being most of the text on an old image I'm posting.(Cause lots of rambling)
When I was younger I had a program called Manga Studio Pro 4.0, I didn't know how to use it much but I eventually was able to use it good enough.(Although at points I couldn't figure how to remove the text on some things if I was making a comic instead of just an image) This was an old program, while some of my stuff was digital installs I don't know how I got or were already there(MSPaint) this was the old way involving a CD that came in a box with a code.
At some point either from either from losing the box(this was a program I had a CD & code for in the past), using it too many times(I transferred computers a few times) or who knows what like not knowing how to use the code or losing the code for it I eventually lost the ability to install/use it. I think I tossed everything I had left for it after I lost the ability to use it & I don't remember when I tried to reinstall it. It worked I was able to reinstall it I just couldn't figure out if I had the code or not anymore cause some stuff confused me.
I don't remember much but I know that when you saved new projects you'd have a folder with the file to open the picture in the program(with layers there if they were there) & an image that was a jpeg full sized(depending on how big you made it) image with all visible layers merged.(I mean it's an image so of course) I have many unfinished projects I found in some backups I made of past computers, they'll never be finished & I'll never be able to open them up in the program again. It's not like I could finish them without starting over anyway thanks to how much shit has changed.
Looking around what I was able to it seems the most recent pics I made in manga studio were from 2012 which was my second year of high school.
My art programs back then were MSPaint & a copy of Paint Tool Sai I found somewhere(I bought a license for the program a few years back so use an actual legal ver now)
When I was younger I use to use Photoshop CS & MSPaint(every once in a while I used Manga Studio Pro 4.0)
Today/in recent years I use Clip Studio Paint EX, sometimes Paint Tool Sai, MSPaint occasionally(mostly use it for quickly pasting screenshots or stuff to copy to paste elsewhere) & very recently Procreate.
Up until a certain point after high school I drew with a mouse, I sometimes draw with a mouse but I mostly use a wacom tablet I've had for a few years. Also use an ipad for procreate.
It's kind of funny, I didn't use manga studio that much but I use clip studio paint a lot now. I bring this up cause manga studio is still going, it's called clip studio now.
Here's so images I was able to find from when I still used the program just so you can see what I worked on. If you've seen my art stuff you'll know how much things have changed too.
This pic was from 2011, it's an old image of my fursona's quad form
To the right is a more up-to-date version from 2016, not much has changed but the paw print is gone(the tail has a little more detail like it has fins now)
Here's a pic from 2021 were my fursona is dressed for pride month that shows better details. Funny enough first pic is manga studio, second pic is sai & third is clip studio paint so I guess it comes full circle.

Pic 1
This is the most recent pic(2012) I made in manga studio, according to the description I sketched it in manga studio then colored it in sai, the text is done in MSPaint. This was for an Alice in Wonderland based project I didn't get far in except for a few ideas.
Pic 2:
I have no idea when I made this, DA says I posted it there in 2012 but going off the art style looks older than I recall. After trying to search around I think this & pic 3 are maybe from 2010 & I got a little better in 2012 when I made pic 1.
This is for someone I use to know that I don't exactly have good memories of. I use to be in an AMV group with her & at some point she requested art from me & would repeatedly ask if it was done. I don't remember how often but I know she was asking about it to the point it was considered rude especially after I asked her to stop.
This was for one of her projects that as far as I know never got very far. I don't even remember what the plot was. I think it was two high schoolers falling in love while caring for a kid that was either their future daughter or the guy's little sister.
I think I was experimenting with the background on this & pic 3 cause I think the backgrounds had to do with finding random brushes & using them as much as I could were I thought it fit.
Pic 3:
From the same person that the less said that I remember the better cause I'm just going to end up ranting about how she kept making child me pissed from repeatedly asking if an art request was done when I kept asking her to stop & it wasn't done yet.
Anyway I think this was suppose to be for a slice of life fanime she was working on. I don't remember much past the blond(Midori) being the I think main character & something involving her having 3 ex-boyfriends with the magenta/pink hair one being dead. I think I drew this before pic 2 but I put it at the end cause there's more stuff.
Three of the images(the image in the thought bubble, the photo to the left & all three chibis if you count them as one image) were all imported into manga studio to be part of it.(Or the photo on the very left & the chibis were imported cause I think the pic in the thought bubble was edited in using Photoshop CS & the text was shaded in Photoshop as well)
Here's the three images in pic 3
Pic 1 was made with MSPaint & Photoshop CS(background is one I made in photoshop at some point), the writing was suppose to look crayon like cause this was before I had Sai which had a crayon brush
Pic 2 was made traditionally on paper & with sharpy before editing it in Photoshop CS. Don't know where I found the floor, the text in the corner is the only thing helping me guess this is from 2010. That cat charm is an old character of mine, was kind of a joke on Hello Kitty for some reason.
Pic 3 was made in MSPaint
I got one more pic I made in manga studio but it's getting it's own post.(Link to said post)
It's kind of crazy just how much was done & how much has changed from then & now.(I dunno how to end this)

Not just ranma, like I can deal with that to an extent as a product of its time although it gets reallllly rough in spots and you gotta take it with a grain of salt. The waves rumiko made for women in the manga industry, I'll accept ranma, I'll accept lum, and while it's not my jam, inuyasha was miles better. Showing she is doing better.
But look at modern iterations, like tensei pandemic, or boku girl- these feel like modern rewrites of ranma but ups the problematic tropes and completely removes the nuanced gender debate ranma has with themselves. It's just groping slapstick and the choice of gender almost always is dictated by the will they wont they love interests.
Or look at the other direction, the ones that I REALLY HATE - the guy turned into elementary school student genderbend. Like this shit does nothing when transphobes look at it and say "see I was right" and you read it and it's fuckin gross like?
Onii chan is done for- guy is forced into a elementary schoolers body - I hate this cause the animation is pretty but like, mahiros sister forces mahiro to become agirl by slipping her drugs against consent, mahiro goes through the fuckin motions bra shopping / periods basic jokes. pisses herself an uncomfortable amount, eventually enrolls in school with other grade schoolers as a full grown adult , and to be fair and balanced, doesn't seem to be lewd or interested in the girls and constantly has conflicted feelings on if what they doing is ok , but just because you lampshade it doesn't fuckin make it OK. There's like a multichaptel arc where the drug kinda wears off and mahiros dick comes back first and one of the grade schoolers grope it in the middle of the night. And tries to like double check???
That could have been just as funny or more funny if they did, say, a bunch stubble popping in, or her hands turn into full grown man hands. But no the author chose a dick.
There's others too, other turn into grade schoolers ones. I can't recall them cause I tend to trash the series quick, one had some guy genderbend and have to swap panties with kids or something like the fuck?
And I don't accept that different culture shit. Japan has some disgusting expectations and treatment of women and I swear a non small percentage is how they are treated in manga and how it's depicted as ok. They need to fuckin do better like as a nation.
There's a few legit trans stories that tend to be pretty amazing. Wandering son, juukyuu said no seifuku (?) I'm white as fuck don't come at me.
And actual good genderbend makes it a b plot, yakuza reincarnated has great art and doesn't do much pervy stuff last time I read it, but I'm not double checking here. Or something like only sense online that uses it to carve a niche in saturated genres and doesn't touch it at all which is sadly like.. the best we get?
I know there's a few western pieces but I can't think of anything that jumps out at me as good gender explorations. You have to look online, where you get stuff like short comics,brooke2valley, or prettiest platypus, rain, I want to be a cute anime girl, hyperfocus, who all ex plore a more irl slice of life version of the trans experience, on the fantasy side you get magical boy, and that's about it. That's were the good shit is, we need more
and fuck maybe I should just make as much as fucking content as possible, get money start a whole lgbtq art studio dedicated to this shit its our fuckin genre let's fucking reclaim it FUCK
I'm really passionate about this sorry
OC do not steel. pretty please
If I get a positive response I'll start on one of these, depending on whatever feels has the most support. And ill start stuff like patreon and whatever else is needed to make the projects successful. I will make ti my full time career.

Let's talk about yesterday 😆
After seeing Across the Spider-Verse on Saturday night, I woke up with a stiff neck + remembered a certain book from the library I'd often look at. With further research, I found out there was an updated version of that book on shelf. The library didn't open til 1 so I spent the morning just chilling + playing mobile games :P

I reexplored the 1st floor again. I'll say this again: a lot has changed. The little cafe area used to be on the left side of the entrance. The Maker Studio is so brand new to me. The guest services used to be on the left side instead of straightforward as you entered.
They got ps4 + ps5 console games to check out now? Too bad they didnt have anything older :( I'm glad I took a picture of the map that led me to the graphic novel section.
Oh! I also ran into an old customer too :D that was a pleasant sight to see :)
I explored the graphic novel section. This Manga caught my attention 1st.

An ex-yakuza boss gives up his mafia life to be a house husband. The concept is adorable. The execution... wish they'd tone down his scary aura.
And then I found what I was looking for:

I grabbed a seat nearby + began looking thru page by page X3 The pages were exactly as I remembered! Some I'd constantly stare at longer than others. Knowing me, I didn't read much back then. Only looked at the pictures :P The ones I did read yesterday were about the death of the Stacys (to understand how/why this event is so important to Spider-Man's life), Doc Ock (bcuz of the last shot in Spider-Man 2 that resembles a certain panel), the Prowler (that was eye-opening for me in terms on how it connects to Spider-Verse), the Spider-Women (mostly about Jess Drew), + Spider-Man 2099 (aka one of the main updated contents).
As much as I want to talk about Miguel O'Hara/Spider-Man 2099, it could lead to Spider-Verse spoilers 😬 So, nope!
I felt like I spent a good hour reading/looking at that book :) After that fill of childhood nostalgia, I went upstairs to the 2nd floor. I should've taken a picture of the map but didn't bcuz I didn't see one 😕
The 2nd floor is more flipped around. 1st, the children's section was on the right side. I can remember all the pokemon VHS tapes, kids music cds, + computer games X) When I was in high-school, that became the teen + Manga section. I definitely do have some footage on my YouTube channel of me talking to the camera in the library back then. Now, it has become an updated version of the children's section o.o
The teen + Manga section was to the left side of the 2nd floor.
Bask in the glory of my nostalgia!

I used to hang aroubd here after school (which was across the street) all the time! (See 1st + earliest entries @ lpfreakification.tumblr.com/tagged/life/chrono) I felt like there used to be a bit more than this 🤔 No matter, some Manga were still in shelf that I used to read a lot back in the day, like Bleach + Shugo Chara X3 Some, unfortunately, like Fushigi Yugi, weren't there :( However, redemption came in the form of Arata the Legend! It was one of those Manga I was quite invested in + was eager for the next volume to come out 😃 I did make two fanarts from there but cant remember if i uploaded them on my dA or not. That jogged my memory of the story. I did catch up on two of the three that were right there. It just *had* to be the *13th* volume that shook me. Damn, I was fanning myself from the thrills. I looked up how many volumes there were. About 22 or 23? Idk bcuz there's also some remastered version I couldn't wrap my head around in. Also, they have an anime? Eh, from the looks of it, looks low-qual, off, tacky? Yeah, I like how the Manga looks more than the anime :P
The library closes at 5. Lucky for me, I had an hour to spare :) I spend a good 10 minutes of what I wanted to do next. I was craving a mango frozen yogurt from Red Mango but it's still a drive. It's not far but it's an effort XP So I looked up anything similar to nab from Target. I was right :D
A Target run later, I went home, ordered pizza from my old job, + tried this out.

Needless to say, I liked it 😆
It was somewhere past 5 pm. I mostly chilled in the kitchen until the pizza arrived. It was good to see my old coworker doing well. I do tip big bcuz 1. It makes them very happy + 2. It makes up for any other s****y tippers. I liked how he skipped back to his car like the little kid he is (he's 20), happy with his tip + visiting me too.
I keep forgetting to add pepperoni to my pizza online lately. No matter, I ate the majority of it anyway 😋 With 6 square pieces left, I was stuffed. That was a 14-inch.
I went back to my room somewhere around 6 pm. Played mobile games until I fell asleep. Last time I checked it was 6:55 pm.
And now it is 6:53 am + wide awake rn, despite writing this entry for the past 30 minutes. Man, did I sleep or what. I'm glad I didn't wake up in the middle of the night last night. Now... what do I wanna do today? 🤔

One Punch Man - “Go! Saitama” silent short animated by Yusuke Murata with his Village Studio staff.
Sorry to keep you waiting. For various circumstances the latest chapter update of Tonari no Young Jump version of One Punch Man has stalled. Please wait for a while. In the mean time, I made some short anime, please check them out.
I would love to study more and be able to add voices, music, and sound effects. I would also love to try making works other than One Punch Man as well.
Thank you everyone for your warm feedback and opinions. This time, by asking the ex-staff as well, we were able to work on the production with every original member from the time when we decided to make anime in the first place. It is the achievement of the staff who went along with me despite their busy schedule. I thank them from my heart.
I want to give reply to everyone who has replied to me, however I have to go back to working on the manga, so unfortunately I would have to use this reply as a way to say thank you. Thanks for looking. I will keep doing my best to create great things.

CSP 2.0's been a hot mess for a lot of reasons.
Extremely unclear pricing and licensing models
Confusing priorities in communication leaving most people utterly lost as to how long to expect version 2 to even be a thing (one year, for the record; 3.0 next year, 4.0 the year after, and so on)
Said version turn-around making the non-subscription pricepoint utterly ridiculous compared to the annual sub, but
if your sub expires you're shunted back to whichever version you bought a perpetual license for, but
a perpetual license to 2.0 does not get you any of the updates for 2.0, which they are now billing not as 2.1, 2.2, and so on, but as "early access" for features planned for 3.0
On top of all of this, they've switched from a serial license code model to a login-bound model, which not only requires regular internet check-in to make sure your rights to the version you're using haven't expired, but also means they can more strictly police how many machines can access a license at a time, so have fun if you, say, bounce between a desktop and a laptop or anything like that.
Also, the already-confusing standard, Pro and EX model still exists, except now it's made exponentially more confusing because those tiers are now also wrapped in the subscription and perpetual license models that make no sense and are, again, burying the lead that they're basically just mislabelled "Clip Studio 2023" or whatever.
With how much blowback they've gotten, I can only assume this shit's confusing on purpose on this point.
I'm super disappointed. I've been championing this app since it was still called Manga Studio 5 in a (honestly successful) bid to migrate MS4 users over to it (hi I'm one of those). I rely on its tools for comics production basically daily, and even use its animation pipeline on a regular basis. I bought EX because I use the page layout tools and 3D model displays to plot out my scenes and everything. I am a fucking poster child of a mark for anything they'll try to sell me, and even I cannot in good faith recommend anyone spend money on this fucking mess.
I have no idea what they were thinking or who greenlit this, but CELSYS has fumbled the ball from the initial announcement last year all the way through launch, and their communication with their customer base just keeps being grossly inadequate and making shit worse. :/
Hey hey everyone please tell
@ clipstudiopaint latest update is horrible. They didn't tell you this with the 2.0 update
You may ask why is that?
TL;TR: “If you don’t have internet well TOO BAD! We won’t let you use CSP. You must have 24/7 internet to use it”
So yeah, give them very vocal feedback of how terrible this is.

Hello! I have often had the chance of admiring your work in different places, so you must imagine my happiness when I discovered your account here. After years of observing art, I have decided to try my hand at it, although rather to the dissatisfaction of my expectations. I was wondering:
1. What is your process for drawing comics, more specifically the steps you take and the tools you use?
2. Do you have any tips for how to draw the fabulous Lord Ghirahim? Please don't laugh at me, I am in quite a predicament and am unable to do him justice with my attempts..
I would be ever so grateful if you shared your wisdom and experience with me since I lack both in this field. Thank you for your time.
1. Comic process I use Clip Studio Paint EX for drawing comics. This version of Clip Studio I have is geared towards comic making and thus comes with features that help with comic making but the basic version of Clip Studio works perfectly fine as well.
As for my comic drawing process, my general process is as such:
Script - writing out the dialogue/general actions, pretty self-explanatory
Thumbnails - based off the script, I draw thumbnails of all the pages for the comic. This step I focus more on pacing of the comic so everything is loose in terms of placement. I like to sketch these out traditionally on paper. Thumbnailing is useful for long comics but nowadays I do them even for single page comics as well
1st sketch - Initial sketches of all the pages based off of the thumbnails digitally
2nd sketch - heavy revisions for composition/panel layout. I also typically put in all the text that I know will go onto this page to layout word bubble placement. Sometimes I end up adding more pages to the whole comic if I think if it's necessary
3rd sketch - a clean-ish sketch, basically the final look of the page. I tend to already have the panels drawn out with the panel tool in CSP at this point
Line art - suffering
Background - also suffering but not too bad since nowadays I use 3D models/pre-drawn assets/brushes to do backgrounds
Screen tone - suffering x3
Blacks/shadows - Just adding shadows/anything solid black onto the characters, like clothing or black hair
Balloons - at this point I finally give the text word bubbles lol
Add any other special effects or whatever necessary (e.g. motion lines, sparkles, etc.)
Some random notes about my comic process:
For the writing step, I write the script and then beg my friends to help me edit it to be less dumb lol
My process is fluid so I go back and forth between the steps all the time
I work page-by-page, so instead of like finishing each step for each page all at the same time, I finish an entire page before moving onto the next one. This is probably a really bad idea
I rarely start work on the first page of the comic. I tend to start working on the page I think will be the most annoying (get the hard shit out of the way first lol)
Random tips:
Keep reading direction in mind when doing page layouts. Is it left to right? Right to left? Reading direction will have an effect on how a reader’s eyes travels across a page
Look at your favorite manga/comics/webtoons/etc. and observe what you like about their paneling/page layout
Just do it. You’re not gonna get any better unless you actually draw. Yes this means you will be producing some bad comics at first but that’s just a part of the whole process of improving and becoming a better artist. If you really hate your old comics you can always redraw them
A really bad visual step-by-step of my comic process:
As for tools, I just use a textured brush for line art. I hate backgrounds so I use a lot of free assets to for backgrounds lol. Clip Studio Assets store is great and filled with a lot of free assets to boot.
2. Drawing Ghirahim This thing I drew is still relevant to how I draw Ghirahim. It’s 4 years old but the way I draw this bastard hasn’t changed much, really.

cw // bhna 362 manga spoilers, possible character death
ok!!! i have a long, loooong time theory i’ve been meaning to speak about on this blog, and even one of the reasons i started this blog, and with 362 it’s getting more relevant than ever.
call it a sin, but i haven’t watched that much of the subtitled version of bhna seasons 1-4, and it’s been a while since i saw seasons five- i watched it when it was released, and have yet to rewatch it, in favor of the manga.
so i can’t comment as much on the japanese va’s and roles, and i also haven’t reread most any of the early chapters in the manga. but, the english dub of the early seasons, present mic (and occasional aizawa) have been the ones to voiceover and explain peoples quirks. sometimes it’s in a scenario at that current moment (ex. aizawa explaining class 1-As quirks to blood king s5 ep1) but more often than not it’s apparent that it’s just them talking to the viewer.
more than this, when the shows opening plays, deku speaks in the past tense. “when i was young i realized that all men are not created equal” blah blah blah, whatever, we just know that he said that pretty often throughout the show (probably to keep viewer retention, but whatever).
nevertheless, he speaks in past tense. that might not mean anything on surface level, and yeah, it might just be a inner monologue, but why would he say this? besides typical tv purposes, whenever he reflects during the story, he never speaks this way. he thinks of supporting roles, or moments of significance up to his current action, not that he wasn’t equal. so that implies further, complete reflection. we haven’t seen him do that, not really.
honestly, when i had this idea i hadn’t really thought about it past surface level fluff, but then i started reading more tumblr analysis. (unfortunately i lost the blog that made this post, but thank you, op!!)
there was a specific post that caught my eye, speaking about the toga confession chapter. this has been touched on by a lot of people, but there’s a specific log of dialogue that sounds suspiciously like bakugou.

“because for all his triumphs, he was still just a damned nerd.”
that got me thinking, even more. the fact of the matter is, bakugou is one of, if not the only characters to say something like this. “damned nerd”, has both damned and nerd in it, both words bakugou very frequently uses.
though i was more convinced, i let it stew. until bam. 362. besides the obvious whiplash, i basically drowned myself in tumblr posts, until i came across this post.
https://chandralia.tumblr.com/post/691959313676304384/why-does-it-sound-like-both-deku-and-bakugo-are
in other words, it sounds as if bakugou & midoriya are narrating, and that is why im writing this now.
ladies and gentlemen, i believe that bhna is narrated podcast style.
because honestly? it makes sense!!
all of these people, these prominent characters working together to tell the story of the worlds greatest hero. to say that deku isn’t just another all might, and that greatness isn’t born from lucky circumstances and no self preservation. to say that someone “worth nothing” can show their worth.
and it would make more sense!! present mic literally has a radio show, aizawa is literally one of his mentors, and bakugou is his kacchan, his other half. if you ship them or not is your opinion, but regardless of subjectivity, they hold a bond indescribable compared to almost any other character, canonically.
yeah it might just be because i’m obsessed with the image of them all in a recording studio, and yeah it might be that i refuse to accept the possibility that katsuki might be dead, but if there’s even a chance that something like this could be a possibility i will not stop speaking about it.
if all of this is just brainrot, so be it, but it would be so inspiring to see something like this, and would be huge for such a popular and such an iconic shoujo manga to pursue something like this, and hey, that would be amazing for a future au!! :)
#bhna analysis#bhna#mha#boku no hero academia#my hero academia#podcast au#:O???#bhna 362 spoilers#izuku midoriya#deku#bakugou katsuki#bakugou#present mic#yamada hizashi#eraserhead#shouta aizawa#future au#please i crave#in the unlikely chance this is canon i’m shoving it in all of your faces

So, as someone who has been using CSP for years, i can say that EX has a lot of quality of life features that I find are worth it but i do use the 3D, animation and comic/zine features alot and having un restricted acess to everything makes everything waaaaay easier.
If you have Pro already, wait for one of the the big sales that pops up like every 3 or 4 months to get it at like 50% off.
As for the subscription vs. perpetual license, it's a bit confusing, but basically whats going on is that CSP is going back to their model when they were Manga Studio and releasing a new updated version every year or so (right now we're on version 3.0)
Each version has a slew of new features, and once you buy the license, it's yours forever, but if you want to access those features early, you need the subscription.
Like I had version 2.0, but version 2.1 had access to 3D head models. If I really wanted those head models, i would get the subcriptoon to access it.
But i really wasn't hurting for them, so I waited the year until version 3.0 came out with all the 2.x features and then some included.
It should be noted that if you have version 1.0, you must upgrade to versions 2.0 before you can get 3.0 >.>
And if you are using a phone or a tablet, you can only use the subscription model.
TL;DR
If you have Pro already, wait until the sale to upgrade to EX.
If you don't have the program yet and are on a computer, wait until a sale to buy the latest version of the program (Pro or EX). Otherwise, you will have to upgrade multiple times for the latest version.
If you are on a phone or tablet, you can only get the subscription model
Hopes this helps.
Hiii clip studio painters what is the difference between pro and ex? Which one would u recommend? I am thinking of switching programs :p
#navigating CSP in the latest time is insane#i love the program but its not accessible to new users at all

Artist Resources (Part 1?)
This is basically just going to be a bunch of resources I have found to be useful. I can’t say that I’ve used all of them, but I’m sure they’re all worth checking out.
I’m also gonna try to put a detailed description for most of the links so you have a better idea of what you’re getting. I apologize in advance if some of them are redundant lol
(I put “Part 1″ if in the case I make another one)
~Links to Tutorials, Tips, Resources, etc~
Another Resource List -- Leads to another Tumblr post. Apparently, the post isn’t mobile-friendly, so it’s suggested to view this on Tumblr browser. Has a bunch of other links. I’ve checked out a few of them (mainly the copyright stuff lol), and it seems that some of the links may be a bit outdated. Still, it doesn’t hurt to check out the links.
Arms and Legs -- Leads to another Tumblr post. A handy tutorial on elbow and knee placement.
Art & Game Dev -- This leads to my personal playlist of a bunch of YouTube videos. Has a bunch of tutorials and interesting videos that I’ve collected over the course of a few years lol.
Blamblot -- A website that contains resources and tutorials on comic lettering. This is primarily in reference to western comics, but it doesn’t help to take a looksie.
Commission Calculator -- Leads to another Tumblr post. Helps artists to stop selling themselves short.
Comparing Heights (hikaku-sitatter) -- A height comparer for centimeters.
Comparing Heights -- A height comparer for feet and inches.
Mouth Shapes and Lip-Syncing -- Leads to another Tumblr post. Useful for... drawing mouth shapes.
Reference Angle -- Useful for when you’re trying to map out a face from an odd angle.
Soft Proofing for Printing -- Leads to another Tumblr post. Helps when you’re trying to make prints of your artwork.
Textures -- A website full of different and mostly free textures. While this website is made for 3D texturing, it can also be useful for 2D drawings. Signing up gives you 15 free credits everyday, and you can use those credits to download some textures for free.
The Models Resource -- A website of models ripped from a wide array of games.
The Spriters Resource -- A website of sprites ripped from a wide array of games.
The Textures Resource -- A websites of textures ripped from a wide array of games.
~Links to Stock Images~
Please check out whatever policies they may have for their images before using them!
(not sure if any of them are active anymore as I followed some of these accounts a long time ago when I used to be more active on Deviant Art lol)
adorkastock (formerly senshistock)
anatoref -- Leads to another Tumblr post. Has a bunch of hand photo references
charligal-stock
HumanAnatomy4Artist -- Does contain nudity
null-entity
PhelanDavion
RobynRose
~Links to Other Artists~
Akihito Yoshitomi -- Yoshitomi is a mangaka who has tutorials on manga making. He also has an insightful series in which he drafts and draws a 30-page manga in 18 days. Remember that every artist works differently and his process may be different from another’s.
Drawfee -- Drawfee is an improv drawing show of four artists: Nathan Yaffe, Jacob Andrews, Julia Lepetit, and Karina Farek. While they don’t have tutorials in a sense, their videos explain the different processes they go through as they draw. They also occasionally provide tips, tricks, and resources in their videos. They do have another channel and a Twitch channel where they host drawing classes in addition to other fun shenanigans.
EtheringtonBrothers -- Has a bunch of useful and eye-catching tutorials called “How to Think When You Draw”.
Mark Crilley -- Mark is a comic artist, specializing in manga, who has a bunch of tutorials about anatomy, perspective, comic making, and other things.
Miyuli -- Miyuli is an artist who posts tutorials on their Twitter. Their tutorials range from anatomy to clothing to other things. They even have a few books of art tips. Currently (as of the time of posting this), their 2018 version is free for download, so I highly recommend you download that. Some tips may be outdated, but they should still be helpful.
Whyt Manga (Twitter/YouTube) -- Odunze is a comic artist, specializing in manga, that has a bunch of tutorials on manga making and drawing characters of color.
~Links to Free Programs~
Blender -- A free 3D program if you’re into 3D modeling and such. I also personally haven’t used Blender (I use Maya lol), but I know it’s a respectable program.
Krita -- A free painting program if you can’t afford Photoshop or Clip Studio Paint. I personally haven’t used Krita, but I have recommended it to a few friends and they have positive reviews about it.
Paint Tool SAI -- Okay, this one isn’t free, but it’s a significantly cheaper painting program where you don’t have to pay a subscription. It’s 5,500JPY (~50 USD). I’m not sure how well it still works on modern computers (the last update was 2016), but I still use it here and there because I love the pen tool feature it has, and it still works like a charm for me.
~General Tips From Raine~
Raine admits that she’s guilty of not following her own advice, but Raine hopes that the tips that she does know will be beneficial to someone who will follow them. She’s also going to keep all her tips under the cut so as to not make this post a huge wall of text (even though it technically already is lol)
Also, if you have some resources, tutorials, tips yourself, please feel free to send them to me and maybe I’ll make a part 2 to this post!
ALWAYS LOOK FOR REFERENCE. This should really go without saying. You can’t draw from life if you refuse to observe life itself.
If you can’t find the exact thing you need, MAKE YOUR OWN REFERENCE. Time and time again, I can’t find something exactly that I need. So instead, what I do is that I take pictures of my own reference. Sometimes I even grab a friend and take pictures of them doing whatever it is I need.
Have a mirror handy when you’re drawing. Sometimes what you need is actually right there in front of you.
Having trouble drawing something? Do some studies. Take the time to understand what it is you’re drawing. I can’t remember the exact story, but I heard that the people who were working on Tarzan were having a hard time drawing his hands. So, what they did was spend a few hours looking at hands to try and understand how they work.
IT’S OKAY TO STUDY THE ART OF OTHER ARTISTS. Just as we look to the old masters as a reference, it’s definitely okay to look at modern-day artists for reference. Just don’t go copying exactly everything that they do, or worse, trace what they do. Just don’t do it... at all.
Not every line needs to be realized. The viewer of your work will automatically connect the dots.
DO NOT TRASH YOUR OLD DRAWINGS. Please, never ever do this. Your old drawings have value to them, even if they look terrible to you. Old drawings may hold ideas for things you could do for the future. They also serve as a way to see how far you’ve come as an artist.
GETTING BETTER AT DRAWING TAKES TIME AND EFFORT. You’re not gonna get better overnight. It’ll take months, or even years, to feel like you’re a competent artist, and even then, you’ll still have room for improvement.
DON’T LOOK DOWN ON YOURSELF IF YOU’RE TAKING A LONG TIME TO GET BETTER. It’ll be better for your mental health in the long run.
Alternatively, DON'T LOOK DOWN ON OTHER ARTISTS EITHER, ESPECIALLY TO MAKE YOURSELF FEEL BETTER. You know the struggles it took for you to get where you are, so don’t go putting down other people when you’ve been in their shoes once.
KEEP DRAWING. If you’re not making an effort to get better, then you’re not going to be better. I get that it’s hard to find the inspiration to draw (I’m very guilty of this), but just keep trying. It doesn’t have to be big or spectacular. You don’t even have to post it if you’re the type who likes to post their art stuff.
Try to find references from real-life. It’ll help you better understand form, lighting, shadows, etc., especially if you’re going for a more realistic kind of art style. Otherwise, finding reference from things like cartoons, anime, comics, etc. are just as good.
Try new things. Try new art mediums. Try a different art style. Switch up the way you do things. Maybe you’ll hate it, maybe you’ll like it. Who knows if you don’t try.
Watch time-lapses (or speed draws/speed paints) of other artists!
Pinterest and Google are your friends if you need tutorials or references or whatever.
If you’re offering commissions, DO NOT WORK UNDER YOUR LOCAL MINIMUM WAGE. You are literally devaluing the work you actually put into a piece.
I like to think I’m an aficionado of Photoshop, so feel free to ask me questions on how to achieve something! I’ve used Photoshop for about 11 years now and know my way around the program. On another note, I do recommend setting custom keyboard shortcuts in Photoshop because the default shortcuts are terrible (in my opinion), and because having custom shortcuts increases the speed of your workflow.
Because I’ve been seeing this a lot lately in Twitter, you’re never too old to start in art. Art is just one of those things that anyone can pick up at any age because the only thing you really need to get good in art is time, diligence, and patience.
Try not to post hi-res images of your artwork to prevent art stealers from selling your artwork in high resolution.
Always, always, always add your signature and watermark on your artwork. I like to add my signatures and watermarks in places that’ll be hard to erase or crop out. I’ve also seen people add their signatures and watermarks in creative ways (ex. on a character’s shirt). You need to protect your work in an era where people will just blatantly steal it and make profit off your work.

When did you start drawing? What programs do you use?
I start drawing in junior high school, which is... 10+ years ago. I use Photoshop and SAI. I kinda sorta know how to use other softwares too, like Illustrator or Medibang or Manga Studio (not Clip Studio, I just have the old Manga Studio EX 4). Mainly SAI these days though, because it uses less RAM.
I still prefer Photoshop for painting purposes, because I like the texture and custom brushes, but I'm learning to make it work with SAI. I also use Photoshop for the vectors when I make SLBP avatar edits and custom avatars, because Illustrator is really not my thing.
Custom avatar, like this:
Maybe the Illustrator version that I have is just old or whatever, but the interface and tools are so confusing to me :/ I can do enough to do logo design work or something, but not for detailed designs (like the Ikesen avatars, for example).

Do you mind if I ask your top 10 favorite characters (can be male or female) from all of the media that you loved (can be anime/manga, books, movies or tv series)? And why do you love them? Thanks....
Hi! I love your question bc I love talking about my blorbos 💖
I won't rank it from 10 to 1 bc it will take forever lol, but I'm going from "least favorite" to "neutral favorite" to "absolute unchangeable favorite"
I tried to make it as spoiled-free as possible but I couldn't contain myself 😅
Least favorites
Sesshomaru (Inuyasha)
I didn't actually finish Inuyasha but I know the gist of it. I love his design and I find his journey as a character interesting. Sesshomaru is a villain that eventually becomes a reluctant ally, I watched Inuyasha as a teen and at that time media kept bombarding us with villains that kept getting redeemed at the end so watching Sesshomaru never actually getting redeemed was a breath of fresh air. Boy, it's so funny to see the struggle of the main characters in trusting him bc he never showed that he could be trusted and most of the times he helped it was bc it was convenient for him to do so.
Starfire (Teen Titans cartoon)
Listen. The soft girl archetype is not my thing but I?? love her sm??? For the soft girl of the group, she never becomes the go-to-damsel in distress (everyone gets to be saved one way or the other by their teammates at some point) and the show never makes her kindness into a weakness but rather into a strength which is highly appreciated. I guess my only issue is the design they went for her, I wished her hair was wavy or curly like in the comics for ex.
Alucard Tepes (Castlevania Netflix)
Pretty boy? Check. Long hair? Check. Vampire (dhampir actually)? Check. Queer? Check. Daddy issues? Check. Traumatized? Check. Craves for love but is stoic himself? Check. Alucard basically checks all the boxes to be my favorite and yet his writing and development makes him be in this section. I hope the spin off does him justice.
Neutral favorites
Peter Parker / Spiderman
Not much of a fan of the movies, but I grew up with him as my favorite superhero with cartoons like The Spectacular Spiderman (kinda sad it got cancelled), I also enjoyed him on Ultimate Spiderman (bc he acts like a total lunatic and I love it) and I love Peter B. Parker from Into the Spider verse, he becomes a reluctant father figure to Miles and it's amazing. Overall I think he's biggest charm is how relatable he is to us kids who grew up marginalized by our peers.
Mikaela Hyakuya (Seraph of the End)
I'm too biased towards him, okay? He's my little baby, literally the only reason I haven't dropped the manga yet. Is he well written? No. Do I still love him? Absolutely. Same reasons as Alucard but with a few more layers to it.
Wanda Maximoff (MCU)
Look, this is the only version I've been exposed to of the character, saying this bc I'm aware of people saying that mcu Wanda pales in comparison to comics Wanda. But I love her, ok? I would die for her. "But what if you were in-universe and she killed you?" Bro, I'll die in happiness if she was the one who killed me. I love her, I'm too much of a simp for her. The only issue I have is that she's not well written, I look at her and all I see is wasted potential, but oh well, Marvel Studios never cared about quality.
Absolute unchangeable favorites
Lapis lazuli (Steven Universe)
Steven Universe will always have a special place in my heart and Lapis lazuli has been my favorite character through the whole show. I related to her and her journey a lot. The writing uses her character to show PTSD; trauma and how the same traumatic event doesn't have the same effect on people; how the abuser/victim dynamic is not always the case on toxic relationships, sometimes the roles interchange constantly and they're both the abuser and the victim at the same time; how overcoming trauma isn't (always) lineal, most of the time is taking a step forward and two steps backwards. She had it bad but she persevered until she finally came on good terms with her situation and started to heal and I love her for it.
Kurama (Yu Yu Hakusho)
It's been like 15 years and I still love this guy, even more so as an adult. Yu Yu Hakusho is basically THE comfort show for me, seriously I have since watched the anime in spanish, english and japanese. I'm love with his background and journey, all main guys have great development but Kurama's development is the most subtle but still powerful. The thing about him is that he struggles between trying to be what his loved ones expect him to be and accept that he can't erase who he used to be and what he has done on his previous life. He has an identity crisis (not in the way most fans make it out to be though, it's not a personality issue) about who he used to be, who he is now and who he really wants to be.
Jason Todd (DC/Batman comics)
I love him, your honor. He's a walking tragedy and I love him for that. He's representations for those who grew up on poverty and resorted to stealing to survive, for those who are suffering in the shadow and people, who have the means to help, look away from and act like if they don't look at them they don't exist. He's character is cathartic for those victims that wished they could've stand up and fight back, for those who wished for justice to protect them but failed. I have my issues with his character and how is used, but since most DC characters are ruined from time to time bc of the writing I kinda look past it lol.
Soooo, this is it!! I'm sorry it took me so long to answer, I wanted to give a mostly thoughtful answer

I guess to start, I'm going to list out the programs I like to use. I'm going to put half this post under the cut to spare your dashboards.
For 2D art, I use Clip Studio Paint EX. I probably didn't need to upgrade to EX (since I don't use any of the animation tools nor do I utilize the 3D functions), but I'm not exactly upset about that; I bought CSP back when it was still Manga Studio and upgrading when it was on sale wasn't too costly.
I used to use Paint Tool Sai, and I switched because Sai just wasn't beefy enough for me (I used obscenely large canvases back then; now I restrict myself to canvases 4096 pixels wide). I also found myself hopping into Photoshop to play with adjustment layers, which CSP has. I swear by it, at least for computer artists; I'm not sure how the mobile/tablet versions compare.
I mainly use brushes from Frenden's gigantic brush pack; particularly the Graph-FIGHT pencils for sketching and lining, and the equine recline brush for rendering (though I will use the oil and comfort food sets from the pack on occasion). I've also got a plethora of free brushes from the Clip Studio assets store, though I hardly use them; my art style isn't super demanding when it comes to what brushes I need.
When it comes to 3D art, I use:
Daz Studio (forgive the horrid fucking NFT banner at the top; unfortunately they're shills, but the program itself is very useful). It's free, but the catch is a lot of the addons you'll want are paid products. If you know what you want/are internet savvy/can make your own assets, then you can get away without spending much money. It's got a learning curve, but when it comes to 3D art, it's very beginner friendly and most products for it are designed to work out of the box. It's been my gateway into 3D art.
I use Daz to make models of the characters I draw, and to create reference images so I don't have to fiddle with sketching out anatomy or composition over and over again from scratch. I'll be sharing some of the renders I take on this blog as part of my process documentation. When I started out, I wanted to spend as little time in Daz as possible, but now I spend just as much time in Daz as I do in Clip Studio; it's quite fun to work with, especially once you learn how to use all the features.
ZBrush is the program I use to make/edit my own morphs for Daz, using the GoZ plugin to make my life easier. It's got one hell of a learning curve, and as a beginner to 3D I found the interface really unintuitive, but like Daz, it's a lot of fun to work with once you have an idea what you're doing. I plan on using Zbrush as part of my workflow once I start making more 3D art and my own Daz assets in earnest.
(Also no I did not pay full price for this, I'm too poor for that LMAO)
Blender is another program I like, though I don't use it nearly as much as Zbrush—and unlike Zbrush, it's completely free and open source. It can be used to make morphs for Daz, but I found using Zbrush with the GoZ plugin to be a lot more intuitive. I use Blender when I want to create something from scratch, like the first iteration of Soap's sword from Call of Honor (which I really, really need to update).
#gotta come up with a tag list#I don't really care for visibility on this account; only organization
