Listen, I've played the switch version and no, it does not default to Ren when changing languages. Stop saying that Joker's only accepted name is Ren. It's getting old.

What gets me about seeing Yuuta and Maki again in the most recent JJK chapter is Yuji defending Yuuta's stint in Gojo's body to Maki and how he helped them in battle... like umm... isn't this OOC?
This is Yuuji Itadori we are talking about, Yuuji whose whole thing was about giving others a proper death so do you really think he would be happy with Yuuta desecrating Gojo's corpse and using him as a weapon? I certainly don't.
That whole scene felt like Gege pupeteering Yuuji while slapping the audience with "see Yuuji, despite not being told of the plan for Yuuta to puppet his beloved Sensei's corpse, was totally ok with it! Honest!"
An in character, Yuuji would have likely at least not said anything in defence of Yuuta while Maki verbally tore into him at least or at most joined in, but Gege can't have Yuuta looking bad at all 😒.
I know that this ask was posted around the time we had chapter 269 came out but here iam responding to this 4days after jjk has ended (sorry about that anon!).
I have read both the official and non official translations of chapter 269 specifically the bit with maki shouting at yuta and yuji.
Here is the unofficial translation 👇
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And this is the viz manga translation 👇
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One thing is that yuji never directly defends the decision of yuta taking over Gojo's body at all however, he does indirectly do that by saying thay 1) yuta's cursed item was able to hide yuji's fingers and 2) yuta did stop sukuna's second domain expansion from happening.
While these two things are true I agree with maki and think that they could of happend without yuta taking over gojo's body (i dont hate yuta but i hate the creative decsion) . I have said this before and I will say it again yuta taking over gojos body was a horrible creative decision rhay didn't benefit the storyline at all since yuta never receives any lasting consequences. A better idea would be to have kenjaku take over gojos body and this would still show the things like gojo satoru is the strongest because he is gojo, it would show that gojo is still being used as a puppet however, this would also allow for a much more emotional and anguished reaction from yuji who has the whole family thing going on (which is annoying since its never addressed in Canon properly) and from the other students.
Tumblr media
I would say that I feel like all of the characters have lost what made them so special to me and what made them pop when it came to the last few chapters since like you said we never get to see yuji's reaction about gojo. We do see a glimpse of yuji's visibly distressed face in chapter 236 when gojo dies but we don't see his reaction to when yuta takes over gojos body while this is understandable that we don't see it during the fight since yuji can't cost to lose concentration we don't see his reaction even after the fight.
Tumblr media
In the last chapter we do see a flashback conversation between gojo and yuji and ultimately I love gojo and yuji interactions so much, I love the vulnerability and the honesty in the conversation. I think it was a but of a lazy way but it wasn't a bad way for yuji to still hold onto his promise and let gojo's dream still live on, to let his legacy still live on. This whole thing parallels what yuji did with nanami in the end of the shibuya arc.
Tumblr media
However, iam still pissed that we didn't get a proper confirmation of gojos death in a form of a funeral where he is properly mourned and burried. I think a scene like that would of been painfully ironic since it was supposed to be yuji in that coffin by the end of the series but its gojo and I think it would of been an interesting way to interpret yujis grandads words in a way where he did help people and in a way helped gojo die surrounded by people (this doesn't make sense I don't think)
Tumblr media
Ultimately its a shame that we didn't get to see yuji distraught and verbally expressing his anger and grief over gojo's death. ACTUALLY IT PISSES ME OFF THAT WE DONT GET TO SEE ANYONE PROPERLY DISTRUAGHT (I hate it)

#17 and #18 need to stop being referred to as "Androids" or "Cyborgs"
It's been over 30 years since #17 and #18 made their official debut in the original Dragon Ball manga (1991) and its anime adaptation in Dragon Ball Z (1992), yet people are still referring to them as "Androids" or even "Cyborgs". However, the manga and its anime adaptation, the Daizenshuu guidebooks, and Toriyama's own statements all clearly prove that neither term is correct.
Here's this observation by Bulma when she and Dr. Brief are looking at #17's blueprints that were found in Dr. Gero's laboratory basement.
Dragon Ball Chapter 365, Page 12, official Viz translation:

Dragon Ball Z: Episode 145 — "The Secret of Cell's Birth! What Lies Below the Laboratory?!" (1992):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
^ It's stated point-blank in canon that #17 and #18 are human-based. They were originally human before Dr. Gero found and kidnapped them. When he forcibly remodeled them, he did so with organic components, and it included reconstructing their existing organic matter (as confirmed in Daizenshuu 4). Essentially, he did NOT 'create' them; he modified them.
Therefore, #17 and #18 are still considered humans even up to this point. A better term to use for them would be either "super human" or "enhanced human" or "modified human" — but NOT Artificial Humans (which is translated from the word "Jinzoningen" in the Japanese text, and that term is used for literally all of the Red Ribbon 'Androids'), NOT Androids (mechanical-based, which is what #16 and #19 were), NOT cyborgs (which is what #20 was, since he was actually Dr. Gero but with his brain in a jar), and NOT robots (which is what Arale from Dr. Slump is).
[Side Note: I didn't include #8, because his exact type is inconsistent. According to Daizenshuu 7, he's human-based. However, according to a Q&A with Toriyama in 2014 (in Dragon Ball Full Color: Artificial Humans & Cell Arc), he's mechanical-based. I wouldn't be surprised if Toriyama simply forgot the previous information, considering he has a frequent tendency to do so.]
Anyways, #17 and #18 actually being "super humans" or "enhanced humans" or "modified humans" was reaffirmed later on in Dragon Ball Super, both the manga and anime, during the discussion of who will be recruited to Team Universe 7.
Dragon Ball Super Chapter 30, Page 27, official Viz translation:

Dragon Ball Super: Episode 83 — "Field the All-7th-Universe Team! Who Are the Mighty Ten?" (2017):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Side Note: Sadly, though, finding "Number 17" and "Number 18" in the tags here on Tumblr is much harder than if you search for, say, "Android 18" or "Cyborg 18", at least in my experience; hence my inclusion of those tags in this post.]
TL;DR — #17 and #18 are NOT Artificial Humans, nor Androids, nor cyborgs, nor robots. They are NOT mechanical-based in any way, shape, or form. Based on both canon and Toriyama's statements in Daizenshuu 4, Daizenshuu 7, and Dragon Ball Full Color, they are actually "super humans" or "enhanced humans" or "modified humans", because they were originally human to begin with and all Dr. Gero did was upgrade them at the cellular level.

Where can I read hxh?
Heyo Nonny!
Oh my so there’s no real easy answer to that so i’ll try to make it as easy as possible.
Note: The manga is amazing, i’ll die defending it. If you are a newcomer, welcome. If you watched the 2011 anime, I hereby recommand you to read the manga from the start because a few scenes had been missing from the manga. If you really want to just jump where the anime stopped, know the 2011 anime stopped at chapter 339.
Don’t forget to check out the bonus chapters though (chapter 340.5 and 340.6 are extremely important and can be read once you read chapter 18 imo, since it gives more insight for future arc. Believe me.)But really you should start from the start of the manga.
(If you come because you watched 1999, you need to read the manga from the start since 1999 is not really accurate to the events of the manga, while with 2011 it’s a question of (albeit important) missing scenes. So read from the start.)
Most translations online aren’t all that good, there’s multiple things to take into consideration, so i’ll give the best links I know of. If you find a translation odd in the versions you decide to read, I definitly recommand you to check another source to see if it would make more sense.
tl;dr: Imo, read the manga on Managaseeonline, stop at chapter 339 on it. Read chapter 340 on another source (Maybe mangapanda). And from that point on, read everything there is on Mangastream. (and you can read chapter 340.5 and 340.6 after chapter 18 for a better experience.)
In detail:
Managaseeonline has the full American Viz version of the manga in HD
Pros: -It’s in high quality, -this is the official translation. -Togashi redrew a lot of his chapters between the magazine publication and the manga publication when his health was very low, so reading the official volumes is probably for the better to have the full work. From about chapter 340 I think though those are the magazine chapters versions.-It has the Hisoka’s backstory chapter written by Ishida, Tokyo Ghoul’s author. It was a gift for Togashi and it’s not canon at all, but it’s nice to know about. Most website don’t have it in the hxh page and it can be hard to find so you can read it on chapter 356.5.-The website allows you to read the chapter page by page or show the full chapter in one page so you just have to scroll without flipping pages.
Cons: -Some translations in the early volumes (up to volume 4 I think) had been regularly wrong. Some scenes had been “No homo”ied a little sometimes. Some major translation flaws can happen sometimes. In doubt, check other websites. If you watched the anime and find a line to be really off from the translation you ahd, try to check other sources just in case. (especially since the anime has its own mistranslations.)-Censure. HxH’s manga is far more bloody than the anime, but that is kept in the American version. What isn’t though, is the whole genital stuff. There’s actually quite a few of those that had been censured in this version. If you’re curious and think something is phallic, you can check uncensured versions online.-Chapter 340, 340.5 and 340.6 had been deleted and they are extremely important chapter. Try to find them on another sources before carrying on with the story. (tbh I’d even recommand reading chapters 340.5 and 340.6 before the York New Arc if you can, trust me.)
Mangastream. They are the official fan-translator of hxh.
-Pros: -HD versions of the scans-Generally the most accurate translations-They are basically the one doing the translations you see everywhere-They correct their mistakes with translations. They sometimes do some mistakes in translations, but try to fix it right away. I bring it up because a lot of website steals the first version of the chapter and not the corrected version of the chapter. As a result you can find major mistranslation on other sources that you won’t see on Mangastream. (a huge one came out in chapter 361 and was spread around and only Mangastream corrected it, so I beg you to read the latest chapters on MS.)-They have chapter 340.5 and 340.6 (Kurapika’s Reminiscences)-When the manga comes out, they translate everything pretty fast.-It’s uncensored.
Cons: -They only keep on their website the latest chapters out. They have from chapter 341 and onward. So you’ll still need to find chapter 340.-No “read the full chapter on one page” option-That’s it that’s the only flaw.
Other sources to compare to if you need - most of them have the same pros and cons so i’ll lurp them together.
-Mangapanda/Mangareader/Mangafox/Kissmanga/Mangatown
Pros:-They all have chapter 340 which is the one chapter neither of the two website i highly recommand have.-On some later arcs, the translations on their websites are from Mangastream so it’s usually good translations-The translations on the earlier arcs are usually English translations from the French translation. Which is therefore, a different translation.-In both case: If things bothers you with the others translations, try and check on there.-The chapters are usually uncensored. -Usually the chapters are either from the French Volumes (so volume redraws) or from the Magazine parution (so before Togashi redrew them)
Cons:-The Magazine parution’s drawings can be really sketchy so it can turn off some people. I know some people had a hard time reading them, I personally don’t mind. But I do think it’s maybe better to read the final versions Togashi worked on.-The scans from the early volumes are seriously from a low quality, it is really distracting.-I know it’s translated from the french because I remember seeing untranslated french sentences here and there. Also the French translation, while good (I own it) still has a lot of flaws, and I think translations from Japanese -> French -> English can be really confusing.-The scans on the latest arcs are rather good, but for after chapter 341 it’s really better to check on Mangastream to not have mistranslation.
Also at last, check out hunterxhell’s meta if you can, since they often comes back on common mistranslation. They are full of spoilers though but really important.
I think that’s the best I can say, sorry I rambled again but I really want to help for the best experience possible.
At best really, do what i said on the tl;dr.
I hope it’ll help enough ;;;
Take care nonny!!!

Is Naruto Shippuden ending with episode 500? D: I was hoping we could see an episode about SS's travels or at least some SS moments in general. It's so frustrating to see that literally every couple besides SS (well, also ChoKarui, but its popularity and importance are nowhere near SS's) received several beautiful moments in the latest episodes. Why doesn't SS get anything even though SS is the only couple who was canonised in the manga (thus literally being the main one)? Why is SP like this?~1
There would have been so many ways to create at least an episode about SS’s travels. And unlike the latest episodes which could have mainly been imagined just by reading the Konoha novel, we have no details about SS’s travels, about how Sasuke and Sakura were feeling while travelling for the first time together as so on. This part of the story is so important and yet completely overlooked by SP. An episode showing all of this would have been amazing and really needed for the sake of the story.~2
An episode about SS’s travels would have been much more interesting than the current episodes and I am pretty sure that it’d have been welcomed really well, especially by the Japanese fans. Also, it was really needed in order to once and for all make the fact that only Sasuke and Sakura travelled together, without Karin/Team Taka being involved in their travels (as the online translations wrongly suggested), clear.~3
This way, the antis would finally stop purposely using the wrong online translations and would eventually stick to the Viz Media one, which is the official English translation. So, an episode about SasuSaku’s travels would be extremely important for the sake of the story in every possible way. But I guess we sadly won’t ever receive it, which is a really bad move on SP’s part.~4
But what was I expecting actually? SP not only ignores SS, but also animates even their canon moments poorly. On the other hand, some filler couple moments (like most of the moments from the latest episodes) are animated perfectly. Honestly, from a completely objective point of view, it is more than obvious that SP has something against SS for some reasons. And, sadly, SS is the only couple that keeps being treated like this, even though in the manga it literally is the main one.~5
I mean, there was a post which contained GIFs with all the Naruto couples (except CK). All of those moments besides the SS one didn’t appear in the actual manga and thus were filler moments. Only the SS moment appeared in the manga (and it was the forehead poke, which canonised SS on panel, so of course it was of great importance) and, despite this, it still was by far the worst animated out of all of those scenes. The filler moments were all animated really nicely.~6
SP certainly was and still is a big part of the reason why SS is sadly so disliked (especially by the fans who only watch the anime or don’t pay attention to details). If SP had at least tried to animate all of the SS canon moments properly and had completely respected the way they were drawn by Kishi (such as not erasing Sasuke’s smirk from chapter 632), SS would certainly be looked at in a different light now. Not to mention what would be now if SP had added some filler SS moments as well.~7
Okay I have to play Devil’s Advocate here.
SS wasn’t canonised on panel - 699 and the forehead poke didn’t confirm SS as officially canon, 700 did that. If the manga had ended on 699, I really don’t see why people would think that SS was confirmed as 100% canon because that’s not what the forehead poke did.
SP didn’t overlook SS travels - Sasuke and Sakura’s time together wasn’t in any of the written material to begin with. What they did overlook was Sakura Hiden and so far, Gaiden too. And while this decision certainly says something about them, SS’s travel’s weren’t overlooked by them because they weren’t part of any of the material that they were adapting.
