Oh and we cant forget the accessories. Theyre so hecking cute! The hippos lil XD is to die for and once more the details are insane. Like you actually shaded the seams and pinch! Who hurt you and where can I get some? Also the green glasses compliment his reds so well.

Anyway next we have SVFD's funky lil floral shades (i love them so much you have no clue), the flower necklace is also amazing.

The dragons at the back are harder to make out but, obviously, that just sells the pic more as something lived in and dynamic. Plus, theyre still shaded super well and perfectly for the pic, so theres 0 to complain about.

Also love how I can FEEL clear wings pure joy at being given a hat by little Yugo. Look at that grin, that upturned eye. I've never seen a more overjoyed Beast and SV is RIGHT THERE smiling so hard its jaw's gonna unhinge. Do feel a lil sad about how CW's wings blend into the trees but a comps gotta comp. This is karma for them being the negating dragon. Anyway, I love their accessories, like all the speedroids on Yugo's surfboard (red eye, 2 tri eye and 1 terrortop? Thats the duel links set baybee).

Dark reb is just as happy, but a lil more restrained. I also dk what mon they've got. it has ancient cloak vibes but im no PK expert. Barely play them really. The flowers make it festive either way. The Dark reb pattern on the kite is a nice touch, too!

Ok dragons down, time to scream about 4 small boys! First off, someone get Yugo a shirt before he gets sunburned /joking.

Ok but for real Yuya and Yuris poofy shirts are very summer vibes and very cute. It gives them both a really floaty feeling that suits the piece! Yuya's big ol smile is the cutest thing I've seen all week (plus the fangs are a super cute and nice touch) and Yuris smug "im gonna beat your ass" grin is impeccable. The water guns are really well done, too. Love how yuri's matches SVFD, but curious about Yuya using blue. Is it a ref to his pendulum? Anyway, the shading on their hair (yuyas contrasting values in particular stand out to me) are also so silken and jaw dropping that I feel like you could shear it and weave a silken scarf out of it. Fantastic 10/10.

Yugo's tiny grin is so precious 50/50 and I love how Yuto is kinda cautiously clinging to dark reb as he carefully takes stock of the situation. Yuya and Yuri may be at war, but Yuto and Yugo have chosen peace. For now.

Last but not least, the effect work is really good! I like the refracted light scattered tastefully across the piece to give it some pink and white and add to the sunny vibe. I've already mentioned how well done the addition based atmospheric fade is. The snatches of subsurface scattering like on SV's dark green and the underside of Yuyas shirt are just an extra 10% of perfection.

The thing that gets me about this is that there are no flaws. Zero corners cut. I almost pity you because I feel like this must have simultaneously been the most satisfying and painful thing ever created. I cannot fathom having the heart to do this.

ok so HI. hi. my old tutorial pisses me off so i will make a new one

i made a guy whose sole purpose is to be shaded so dont worry he likes it. and his name. his name will be mr. Boob. mr boob does not have to be blue

theres probably way better explanations of how to do it but unfortunately trying to "emulate" shading does ask you to somewhat understand ur character in a 3d way. like what would the 2d shape be if you "sliced" it? mr boob is made of so many circles. his tail also does a kind of weird perspective foreshortening thing because its pointing at you. is this being conveyed

you obviuously dont have to draw a horrendous grid on your characters skin to do this . BUT it helps you put down (or at least envision) the lines of the form shading :

dont worry about cast shadows or the shading color because this is FORM SHADOW time only. think about what surfaces of the character are obviously facing away from the light source and put down the "separation line" of the shading based on that. thr most important thing is that youre trying to separate light from dark

im going to pick the first one for cast shadows bc it will be the most obvious to me

ok so. his ears and snout are blocking other surfaces of his body from the light, which means a shadow is cast!!!! bam. i saw someone describe cast shadows as what the light's pov "can't see." his entire body is putting down a cast shadow on the ground too

im impatient so i blended the form shadows now. its usually the easiest to just NOT blend cast shadows as a way of conveying that they are still cast shadows. but you can still blend them if you want to show "distance" between the obstruction and the surface its blocking. but its just a way of saying form and cast shadows should not be treated the same even if their softness coincides

im going to lump reflection and ambient light together because theyre like. similar. reflections dont just happen in mirrors

since the sky is blue, making the ambient lighting, i tinged mr. boobs existing shadow to be a bit blue. (*this is kind of important because it can help you decide a shading color, which should USUALLY be based on the environment) (unless your character is just in the transparent void then it doesnt matter)

since the ground is pink, i made pink light bounce off of him. pointed and labelled. i dont rlly know how to go more in depth than that

contact shadows are literally shadows formed from direct-touching contact. very little light can reach in there, even from how reflections disperse, which means youre free to use the darkest color available (black). in this case mr. boob is making contact with the floor. because he is sitting on the floor.

i touched him up a bit and wow!!!!!!!!!! look at mr. boob!!! he is so beautifully sculpted.

and one more thing

thats right. i made mr boob PINK. hes fucking ruined now. just kidding i would never say that to him

what im trying to convey here (its the easiest with really light colors) is a transitional color. this can also show subsurface scattering depending on how you use it which is fun to look at. the mistake i made on my last tutorial was "Just pick a warm saturated color!" which is really wrong in examples like Blue mr boob. because it would be weird to use a warm color to transition from blue to blue.

if you have a character that isn't bright enough then obviously the shadows wont be as visible. its BEST to bring more attention to highlights and reflections to reveal the form a bit. they play the biggest role with darker colors

thats all i can think of. fun things to look up:

structuralization + contour lines + foreshortening etc. 3d lingo

form shadows

cast shadows

ambient light

contact shadows

subsurface scattering

im also just speaking out of my ass otherwise. i didnt look up any of these terms until the end now im inferring and hoping i got them right

Talking about plants, the trees are a big wtf

On the first pic you can see the log is SO THIN. LIKE THINNER THAN A TOOTHPICK. In the second you can see it is thicker, but because the block that fell out is so Itty bitty, you have to make the tree thinner.

The tree is as wide as the players, and when the block falls out its bigger than whatever the fuck this is. Yes I understand they have to carry the blocks and they can't make it too big, but you know what's a good solution? - make the blocks bigger when they fall out, but make them shrink when they get close/get put into a chest or inventory. SO EASY

Also I know you can find pink sheep naturally in the game, but oh come on.

You want to show how sPeCiAl the characters are and that they're sOoOoOo special they found a pink sheep on their spawn but oh my God you could have just let it be a normal sheep.

We stay with animals, and WHAT HAPPENED TO THE POOR WOLF. THE SNATCHED WAIST???? WHAT DID YOU DO TO HIM ☹��

and why is the creeper so, fluffy. Creepers are NOT made out of fur they are made of what alot of minecraft players suspect rotten skin like zombies or a skin-alike material, but it is NOT fur.

Also, *wrong buzzer sound* llamas don’t just spawn naturally. Unless theres a wandering trader (or however theyre called in english) they aren’t able to spawn just like that. They also usually have the carpet on their back.

EDIT: TURNS OUT THEY DO SPAWN NATURALLY IN MOUNTAIN BIOMES. still the Llama being here looks like they just put her there to try and "be funny" ykwim?

I also wanted to also say, this one character I feel that they're gonna be the most stereotypical, annoying one out of the whole movie and my ears hurt just looking at them

I wanted to say that the portal shouldn't be blue but like. Only the nether portal is purple, it's unknown how other portals look so... yeah

Also, talking about mobs, piglins dont look like that, they dont have red light in their eyes, they dont have those drum-things because THEY DONT EVEN EXIST IN MINECRAFT which i will get to latur. They aren’t able to build like that, they aren’t able to get wood for trapdoors and for the fences and iron for the chains. Also they do not even know how to craft, they probably domt even know what a crafting table is. And ghasts also aren’t able to be in the overworld. I understand that theyre invading the land ans taking over but still Like Cmon >:(

I also wanted to say that this is not how nether looks but like. It does a bit, like where the piglins usually spawn ykwim? so ill give them that, the nether looks alr

Anyway TALKING ABOUT THINGS THAT DONT EXIST IN MINECRAFT: whatever this is, it isnt craftable in minecraft, unless there are mods installed. But the „mods” excuse can be used for everything in this post. It was the first thing i saw that pissed me off so badly that i had to make this post because like JUST USE ALL THE STUFF THAT THE ORIGINAL FRANCHISE HAS TO OFFER! NORMAL BUCKETS WOULD PROBABLY WORK JUST FINE!

follow up to this ask! this time im just gonna be talking about my coloring process (i also want to let you all know that im not an expert in color theory since im still learning, im quite literally just going random bullshit go on the blending modes 💀 lots of explanation under the cut)

the three blending modes i mainly use are exclusion, hard light, and overlay. from the guide above you could see how the blending modes work on their own, and how they look like combined altogether. the cool thing about blending mode layers is that it really is all about experimentation and finding the best combination for a piece (also to any fellow inabakumori enjoyers GRAHH lagtrain pose jumpscare)

i went through a bunch of blending mode phases before i ended up with those main three, though it's funny how ive been using the same overlay color for about 4 years now (multiply used to be one of them, and i still use it from time to time, just not as much). im gonna be honest the whole reason why i know about blending modes being helpful was because one time i accidentally had the fill bucket on and had a certified eureka moment 😭

the best way i could explain these three modes is:

exclusion - honestly i still dont understand how it works either 💀 when i use a really saturated blue color and lower the opacity, it gives a cooler feeling to the palette. feels like a mix of multiply and overlay with how it adjusts the colors without making it darker

hard light - gives more saturation and color

overlay - gives off a glowy effect, especially if the lineart isnt completely solid (this is why it isnt clipped on the folder as shown in the example below, keeping it above the layers gets that glowy effect)

i still use the same colors for exclusion and overlay (while i do alter them with hue saturation brightness from time to time, i just use the same blue and brown for most of my works) though hard light is what i use to make drawings lean towards a temperature

i tend to use warm colors a lot because i think theyre neat and also im biased sorry <3. as a warm palette example, i drew yinu and used this orange color on hard light and lowered the opacity

cold colors have a similar process, it's just the matter of adjusting the hard light layer. i wouldnt really say it's completely cold since i still add warm colors because im still biased </3. as a cold palette example, i drew sayu and used this purple-pink (??) color with the same settings

when it comes to drawings that have characters with contrasting palettes, it does take a bit of trial and error but i most of the time i mix both warm and cold methods like the example above. this also helps for art with several characters in general, since the blending modes help make the colors go well together despite the variety

theres also instances where i dont always use the warm + cold combo, since sometimes drawings lean towards a specific temperature instead (like environments with set lighting/shading, so usually i follow that even with characters with different palettes)

tldr; there are lots of palette combos you could make, not necessarily with just the three blending modes i mention. random bullshit go genuinely helps with experimenting with colors!!

i've been looking at ub headcanons so i'll write my own version of blacephalon bc its my fave yahahaha. i added a lot oops so LONG POST RAAAAAAAAAAAGH

it focuses on training one but also some anatomy bits

they're one of the hardest ubs to train because they naturally dislike anything that's not part of their "circus" (what u call a family of them) and will show high aggression or bait n switch towards trainers who first get them. this includes head explosions. also very territorial.

it's not impossible to train though. they just want a lot of patience to realize you're trying to be their friend. feeding and playing with them is encouraged. just dont let yourself get burned

their fire has their body colors and tends to look more like crackles. weird alien fire if u will

they can humm, growl and crackle but they rely on color codes and body language more. they are more vocal to humans and pokemon like how cats only meow to humans

i use the pokemon refresh's indicators for color codes but i also thought of these: light blue is extreme sadness/depression, light pink is love /r, more red/hot pink is extreme anger/fury.

it depends on the individual but they generally don't like being touched. but if it wants pets the upper half of their body is ideal. feet are the nono zone, they'll kick

if water comes into the hole that lets new heads pop off they will get weakened and be very frustrated

their main source of food is vitality but u can give them candy/meat as a snack (they'll refuse plant based food). those can be offered as a call of peace

they're very active and they'd love a place and lots of cool toys to do funny tricks with

u can accesorize them but they'll shove away things on their head. that head's gonna be thrown around and explode. also make sure theyre light since they wanna move a lot. scarves, bows and bracelets are very cute i approve

Honestly, 50% of the time probably not. Mostly cause Gin seems like the type to get pissy if he doesn't get enough sleep oops. But, if he happens to have a nightmare or is all jittery because he happened to overhear/watch something ghost related, then Klara does her best to stay up with him and talking about random things to get his mind off of it.

Klara would probably go to the store and choose something like this for gin. Anything that makes him a bit less raggedly while also making sure he feels relatively comfortable with lol. Gin, on the other hand...this is a hard one. Not because I don't have any ideas, but it's cause it's Gin-freaking-toki 😭that man never has innocent intentions 75% of the time. Reina is slightly more likely to do it, but we all know hijikata has a soft spot for animals. Just look at the kabukicho cat arc and the episode with the lil puppy...honestly, he might act like he doesn't care as he offers to lend a hand (though he'll perish on the spot if someone walks in on them trying to nurse a small animal back to health).

...on the other hand, she'll nearly get a heart attack if she catches him trying to feed said animal mayonnaise.

WEEPS...idk if this counts per se but i feel like since hijikata is always so busy with work, he lets her choose what to do whenever they have a date. Also patiently and quietly listening to her rambles even though he doesn't know anything about juj*tsu ka*sen (and is lowkey tempted to tell her that she shouldnt read shounen jump and should switch to MAGAZINE, the superior option).

meanwhile reina does her best to make sure that he's eating a decent meal, even willing to walk to the headquarters just to deliver him some food. she never forgets to top it all off with mayo. also i like to think that whenever theyre both busy doing their own stuff, they like to exchange letters or messages especially since they both find it easier to communicate sometimes via writing/text than verbal😭the power of toshifollow followkata!!

okay so we all know steve is a bleeding heart romantic at his core, but his execution of it is a little less than lol so he would plan this really sweet day for Eddie for Valentines day!

He would go to the store to get all the ingredients to make homemade pizza. everyone loves pizza right? well hes gonna make it by hand. he also picks up a six pack of beer, obviously. as hes heading to the register to check out, he passes by a notebook. its a pretty cool notebook with a dragon engraved on the hard cover and its red and black and it just screams Eddie so he picks it up and then he passes by the cereal aisle and gets him some honeycombs. so now that hes got all the stuff he needs for the date, he gets home and gets to work.

Eddie didnt know what to expect when Steve told him to come over around 6 today, he knows its Valentines day but hes never been in a serious relationship before and so he doesnt really know what Steve has planned. Should Eddie get something for Steve? Should he ask him to be his valentine? theyre boyfriends so it should be obvious that theyre each others valentines right? Eddie starts to spiral a little and heads to the store to get some chocolates and a bouquet of flowers.

Eddie shows up at Steves door with his long curly hair pulled into a messy bun at the nape of his neck, wearing a little bit of eyeliner, a worn out band tee and his signature black jeans with some holes here and there. He knocks on the door with the hand holding the chocolates and cant help but break into a huge smile when the door opens and Steve is standing there in his yellow sweater with his light blue jeans on, his floofy brown hair styled up to perfection. “Happy Valentines Day, Sweetheart.” Eddie says holding out the chocolate and flowers. A beautiful blush creeps up Steves neck as he steps aside for Eddie to come in and pass off the gifts.

“I love the flowers, Ed. They’re actually perfect, I needed a centerpiece!” Steve says a little shyly. Now Eddie was intrigued. Steve seemed shy and needed a centerpiece? What did he plan? He followed Steve into the dining room and watched him place the flowers in a vase he pulled out of the cupboard. He watched Steve walk over to the table to place the flowers down and thats when he noticed what all Steve had done. There was dim lighting in the dining room, all coming from different scented and shaped candles sitting on almost every available surface, with rose petals sprinkled around the table and on top of the table. Eddie even noticed a trail of them coming from the doorway they just walked through. “Stevie.” Eddie breathed, a little flustered.

“Instead of ordering out like we usually do, I thought I could do something a little different and make us homemade pizzas, baked with love. and beer of course” Steve stood there proudly, knowing how adorable Eddie thought this was and also knowing that absolutely crushed this holiday. Eddie cheeks were a lovely shade of pink now and he was smiling widely at Steve. He dramatically grabbed at his heart and gasped. “Oh my knight in shining armor, Ser Steve! What a lovely surprise”

Steve blushed at that. “I also got you something else, I dont really know if you’ll like it or whatever but i saw it and it made me think of you so..” He trailed off, bringing a wrapped present out from behind his back.

Eddie made grabby hands for the package and tore into it excitedly. He stopped when he saw the notebook.

“I thought maybe you could use this to plan out your DnD adventures and stuff. Like jot down little notes, I dont know but i saw it and thought of you”

“Oh Stevie, this is the best. You’re so amazing. I’ve never been treated like this before.” Eddie wasnt being dramatic this time, he pulled Steve into a hug and kissed him passionately on the lips before moving onto kiss his forehead and cheeks and chin and basically anywhere he could get his lips. “You totally crushed this holiday, big boy.”

okok so there's like gods in this world right. and of course they all have different things they are the god of. theres the god of life the god of love the god of water the god of chaos etc etc etc. theres also the god of blood which is the number one enemy of most other gods because uh. they dont like blood i guess i actually havent figured that out

and theyre constanrly at war. and the god of blood decided 'hey what if i did something reaaallyy fucked up' and shapeshifted (they can shapeshift btw) into the god of water and deceived the god of love and actually KILLED the god of water and the other gods were so angry they locked the god of blood up into a really tiny cube and blood god was stuck there for like 10000 years or something. they also replaced the god of water

alsoalso. there are like this other type of god. gods? idrk BUT they are actually like. a race of people. and they were born after the god of blood was locked up forever. this is what arcanes species is btw. they live on a star (?) and are made of lightr. collectively they are all the Light God which is pretty cool i think. with a specific god's permission one of these people can go through Divine Intervention and gain really really strong powers like that god. but the gods give this out verryyyy rarely to the people who deserve it in their eyes

tthey have a very specific way they name everything. its usually like [adjective] [some noun relating to light or the sun or times of day] (example: dazzling ray). there's also the Light Family which is not related to light from death note but they are basically descendants of the first people whcih. technically all of these people are descendants of the first people but ignore that. the light family is just special. the gods LOOOVEE them and give a teensy tiny bit of their power to everyone in that family. theyre also like really famous they are celebrities

anyway these light gods have 3 different colors of blood. pink blue and purple to honor the gods that fought in the war. they didnt Wanna include purple but that was just how it was. also they can't choose what color blood they have. oh yeah did i mention that these gods all have specific colors attached to them. the god of blood is actually purple. one could even say its tje one behind the slaughte (gunshots)

so the god of chaos decided to get a bit silly one day. and Kinda freed the god of blood but being locked up for 10000 years took so much out of them that they were a mere fraction of what they used to be. so they went to the star that the light gods live in and had to choose someone to basically parasite off of and hopefully return to their former power with. they could only choose people who had purple blood btw cuz uhh. spiritual connection or something idk

aaand this is where arcane comes in. the god of blood saw a mentally ill 8 year old and decidd yes. i can totally rewire this kids brain. and then convinced them to shoot their parent and then themselves and then move to another place and change their name and identity and long story short. they somehow managed to get adopted by the light family. their old name was prosperous hue btw (i know it doesnt really make sense but ANY adjective can be used. i think)

theres julie's old design she looked more like a monster muppet this time i like the design. she and frank are icing a triple layered cake theres a clock i like with big eyes half lided at the top then you notice how where 12, theres a closed eye at 3 theres a half open eye at 6 its fully open and at 9 its 3/4 closed reminds me of moon phases i dont expect everything to mean something like some deep meaning but things can still have meaning and deep personal meaning to me.

i think her hair is part of what makes her her.im not sure what she has in her hand its not a worm but kinda looks like one like that striped puppet one. the cake candles say NEW and the quote at the bottom of the page says What a wonderful Merry Day! in relation to that id say theyre celebrating a new day. thers pink striped wall paper two shades maybe this is julies house

a thing at the top of the fridge thats probably part of the fridge says something with a D and 197somethinng what number looks like a sideways capital M like a backwards or maybe a different looking seven idk. on the clock the the dots between a given eye where number should be are deliciously different very nice when zoomed in also i can notice a crack in the wallpaer julie's very fuzzy hand. there are sprinkles on julies side theres also a picture of someone on the fridge hung upside down with a flower magnet as a digital page it looks brownish like a page out of an old book interesting julie does look straight out of something like that. frank is trying to be consistent with his design and has dressed / is dressing the bottom layer and biggest in an organized way whilst the rest is random julie stuffing candles on the sides of it which is very cartoony.

Michael Myers 

I feel like you two would first meet when he’s stalking you. Probably on Halloween. You’d see him in his mask and invite him in. He’d be confused but go it. You’d have him sit down and he’d just stare at you confused.

You’d make him tea and try to talk to him, getting lost in his blue eyes and long brown hair. “Oh can you not talk?” You’d probably ask. He’d nod and you’d go get a paper and pen for him to write on.

Murdering you would be a long gone idea now because he wants to see where this goes probably. 

“So what’s your name?” You ask. Michael scribbles it down and shows you. “Michael. I heard the legend about this guy Michael Myers. Killed his sister as a kid and broke free and killed countless other people too. Poor guy you know? Like what drew him to do that.” You sip your tea and look back a the mountain of a man in your kitchen. You give him a warm smile and he just looks down at you. He set the kitchen knife he had with him on the table. Too curious about where this would go to kill you. “Did you make that mask yourself?” You ask. He nods and you light up. “Oh I love crafty men. I made some masks too for this sfx gig I had for a movie. I do it on the side because I don’t make much money from it but it’s so much fun. I really like when I get to use the fake blood. Something about it just looks so pretty. Oh and there’s this edible kind that tastes like chocolate. I was in a low budget one of those movies as a little side character who got a ax to the forehead.” You keep going on and on and Michael just sits there listening. The urge to kill you fading slowly.  

Billy Loomis 

I feel like if he took a liking to you he’d start to low key stalk you. Like find out where you like to go and stuff and like find where you’re most vunrable. 

He’d plan out a way to kill you specially and you’d ruin it by like complimenting him and he’s just caught so off guard. 

You walk down the back alley your step sister told you that would get you to school quicker when you trip on something. Before you hit the ground someone’s there to stop you. You don’t see the knife in his back pocket as you stand up and face him. He’s got glowing brown eyes and short brown hair. He looks so charming. “Watch out there hun don’t wanna get hurt.” He says. All you can do is stupidly nod back and smile. 

“Yeah um good thing a handsome guy like you caught me. I’m Y/N.” You say. He’s a bit shocked by the compliment but keeps his cool. 

“I’m Billy. I noticed you around school this week. You new or something?” He asks. You nod. 

“I am yeah. I’ve been looking for someone to help me like navigate this town. My dad recently remarried and we moved out here. I would really appreciate if a cute boy like you helped me learn my way around here.” He flushes a bit pink and smiles.  

“Well let me help you out then.” He grabs your hand and you smile. The two walk on, talking and laughing.

I feel like you’d see him on accident. Like you’re at the house of wax and he’s upstairs on accident and you’re just try to talk to him.

He’d be so confused about why you like him but he’d get this feeling he should keep you around.

He’ll use basic sign language and probably write stuff down.

You open the door to the House of wax in this small town. Looking around you find very realistic wac sculptures. Everything is made out of wax. “ Hello?” You ask looking around. You walk into what looks like a dining room. You notice a big man with long black hair. The left side of his face looks off but you’re still entranced by his beauty. “Hello, I’m sorry I’m just looking around,” You notice wax all over him, “Did you make these?” You ask. He nods. You smile and look around.

“They’re really good man. Are you Vincent?” You ask. He nods again. “Your brother Lester mentioned you. Talked about a pair of knives he made you. I must say you’re a lot more handsome then I was expecting.” He freezes unsure what to do. No ones ever flirted with him before. “Can you talk?” You ask. He shakes his head. “Oh can you sign? I know a little.” He nods and signs ‘Are you going to hurt me’. You shake your head. “Of course not. I’m Y/N. You live in a lovely town Vincent. You’re very talented.”

‘Thank you.’ He signs. ‘You can stay here, if you want.’ He signs. “Oh thank you, I’m hitch hiking around so a place to stay would be nice. I just need a permanent place. Maybe near here. It’s peaceful out here.” ‘Very quiet. Not many people.’ He signs. You smile. “I’m desperate for a quiet place to stay. Especially if there’s cute guys like you.” The last urge to kill you faded right there. He doesn’t necessarily trust you, just something about you stops him from hurting you.

summary: a local rock and metal nightclub is the perfect place to meet strangers, but what the Corinthian was not counting on was being out-done by someone so fucking handsome and so fucking smart.

Purple, blue and pink lights were in full effect between the strobing green strips of laser-like lights, people jumping and dancing with such force that the sticky wooden floors were thumping and vibrating with the music, and as the Corinthian leaned against the metal bar, he almost wondered if the boat-turned-nightclub would sink and all of its passengers would perish beneath the cold harbour waters; a metal version of ‘What Is Love’, originally by Haddaway, was playing loudly as he sipped on his whisky and looked around, dark coloured glasses flashing with the lights. The sound of people singing as loudly as they could, as if the song itself was a prayer for the living and they were determined to make that prayer heard and come true; people left and would come back smelling of cigarette smoke and sweat, some of them with vomit on their shirts, others smelling of kebabs and chips. Typical nightclub scene more than anything. A typical night out for the majority of the boat’s patrons, but as he looked around a little more, his attention was brought to what he could have sworn was a dream in a human skinsuit; the most handsome man that the Corinthian had ever seen, and he smiled a little as you walked over. 

“One can a’ Monster, bossman,” you shouted to the bartender, who nodded and reached into the fridge. They cracked open the can and handed it to you upon payment. You chugged it, and turned to the Corinthian. 

Oh, you were going to be so easy, you were an easy target for him and he could see it in the way you looked at him. 

“Y’know, most people get a whisky or a vodka,” he told you, tilting his head to the side. Messy blonde locks practically glowing as the lights continued to flash. 

“I ain’t like most people,” you laughed, shaking your head and leaning against the bar, grinning at him. The sound of ‘Love Bites’ by Judas Priest started to sound out, and the thumping picked up, people practically screaming as they sang along and danced and jumped. 

“I can see that,” Corinthian replied, “you’re a little too handsome for a place like this.” 

“Maybe,” you agreed. “But I like the music. Bit hard to find clubs that play metal that aren’t full of cunts these days.” 

He nodded, slowly as he dared to observe you carefully. “I take it you’re here with a significant other.” 

“Oh, baby,” you tutted, shaking your head and beaming at him, bringing your drink to your lips and chugging down a little more. “That ain’t gonna work on me.” 

He flinched, more than caught off guard at how you had seen through him like he was little more than a thin lace curtain; someone who, for once, saw what he was doing and didn’t think twice about calling him out. He grinned. Handsome and smart. 

“And what would work on you?” He asked, looking you up and down. Definitely handsome, definitely smart. 

“Nothing you could do,” you chuckled, patting his shoulder as you dared to walk away. 

But Corinthian would not go down without a fight, following you out to the rear smoking area and cornering you as you were lighting a cigarette, sat down on an old concrete bench. 

“I hoped you’d follow,” you teased, your voice a little softer now that you didn’t need to shout over the music. “So, handsome, c’mon.” 

Corinthian hummed, daring to sit beside you and take the cigarette from your fingers, taking a drag before handing it back and blowing the smoke in your face; usually that little trick did just about the right trick, but you weren’t going to be so easy on him. He guessed that by the way you laughed. 

He ran a hand through his hair. “Corinthian.” 

“(Y/N),” you told him with a curt nod. “You’re a terrible flirt, y’know, you’re too obvious about it.” 

“Oh, really?” He grinned, tilting his head to the side and furrowing his brows a little. Usually, men were more readable than a piece of paper with a massive font… but not you. He couldn’t tell what you were thinking. 

“Really,” you chuckled. “But you’re cute, so I’ll let it slide.” 

Now that had him blushing a little as he groaned softly, shaking his head. “Handsome and smart.”

“Yeah, I get that a lot,” you shrugged. “It’s not exactly special - even if it does come from a charming man like yourself.” 

He swallowed thickly. “You had my attention, and you’ve still got it, what do you plan to do with it?”

You scratched the side of your jaw, chewing at the inside of your lip as you thought about it; sure, he was handsome and he was going along with the little game and you did make him blush which was always a bonus point… but you did kind of want to go back inside before they played ‘Striptease’ by Hinder. Then again, you supposed you could wait until ‘Girls Girls Girls’ by Motley Crue came on, it was just as good - it was a classic, after all. 

“Tell you what, Corin,” you mused, licking your lips and finishing your cigarette before chucking it into the harbour. “Why don’t you come a little closer, and see what my kiss tastes like? See if I still have your attention, then.” 

It was almost too good of an offer to pass up on; faintly, he could hear Rob Zombie’s ‘Get Your Boots On! That;s The End Of Rock And Roll’ playing, and he noticed you tapping your foot to the beat as he moved closer, cupping your jaw in one hand, the other at the back of your neck as he pulled you in. Energy drinks and smoke, a far from desirable mix but at least it was tolerable and the way you kissed him back, so fucking eager and so fucking intoxicating that he almost thought it was comparable to whisky; the way you kissed him back, the way you were so eager to keep up with how rough and harsh his kiss was, grabbing his wrist and moving it round to your throat as you moaned against his lips, giving him a chance to slip his tongue between them as he deepened the kiss, his breath mixing with yours as your chest heaved and you grabbed at his hair and the lapel of his blazer. But then you pushed him away, grinning and in the silence he caught the lyrics of the song. 

Gabba-gabba, hey, a-bee-bop-a-lula, wham-bam, thank you, ma’am, she wants to do ya, get on your boots on, get your boots on, gets your boots on, well Dylan Bob went electric today, laughing through walls of distortion 

He growled. “You still have my attention.” 

“They’re gonna play my song next,” you told him. “I always show up for it - you can join me, but I can’t promise I won’t be a distraction.” 

“I count on you being a distraction,” he grumbled. “You want to keep my attention, don’t you?”

“You not gonna care when I start dancing with other men?” You teased, licking your lips to savour the taste of his. 

Corinthian groaned softly, his hand still on your throat as he dared to ghost his lips across yours, he would have had to have been looking away to not notice the way you tried to kiss him again. “You’re mine.” 

“I doubt that,” you mused, perking up at the sound of  ‘Girls Girls Girls’, a soft laugh leaving you as you broke away from him. “Catch me if you can, won’t you?” 

The game, so it seemed, was really afoot now, and Corinthian swore down that he would do everything he could to make sure that he could at least share one more intoxicating kiss with you before he left; even still, as he watched you leave, shocked that he had been out-done for once, he listened out for the lyrics, and he scoffed. Of course it was Motley fucking Crue. 

Friday night and I need a fight, my motorcycle and a switchblade knife, handful of grease in my hair feels right but what I need to make me tight are those girls, girls, girls, long legs and burgundy lips, girls, girls, girls, dancin' down on the Sunset Strip, girls, girls, girls, red lips, fingertips, trick or treat-sweet to eat on Halloween and New Year's Eve, yankee girls, ya just can't be beat, but they're the best when they're off their feet

witch hat atelier ponies! here come the magic dads and their adopted children. all of them have trauma! (i know we didnt get that tetia backstory yet but have you seen this series? id be more surprised if there wasnt a sad backstory hiding in that voluminous pink hair)

since im pretty happy with this one, have a wall of text about cutie mark reasoning, some headcannons and other random ramblings below

- first off, the doodles on the left show how witches of each pony tribe draw the seals; earth ponies have retractable ink wands, pegasi use wingtip wands. unicorns pose a bit of a problem here given theyre already magic horses, so WHA unicorns can only perform the most basic magic there is in mlp canon ie object levitation. we will conveniently ignore the question of how they hide their seal drawing when theyre not really wearing any clothes. the ratio of each tribe in witch population is 60:30:10 unicorns:pegasi:earth ponies. due to this unicorns are generally viewed as best witches (where classical unicorns are held above regular ones); then pegasi, then earth ponies, however, this is more a matter of stereotypes than inherent biology traits.

- im gonna go character by character, left to right, note some titbits if i have any about them, and add in my reasoning behind each cutie mark. i am sticking to only one set of character names, if you read a different translated version and are used to another way a name is written.... look agott alone has like a dozen of them, im not writing them all out okay? okay good lets go

olruggio: him and his disaster husband have complimenting designs; i opted to go for that fire and water duality with them, rather than just black and white. so olly has dark red coat against qifrey´s light blue. admittedly, making him a pegasus wasnt all that deliberate decision, he would probably make a good unicorn just fine, but i figured making them all unicorns is predictable and boring, so why not have some fun? he can have some flying, as a treat (we will omit sylph shoes existing in case of this crossover). his cutie mark is a contraption tool inside a flame; both pretty obvious choices, he is an inventor and the one character with an entire monologue about a fire.

qifrey: correct me if im wrong, but i think qifrey is juuuuust a tiny bit taller than olruggio in the manga, so the drawing reflects it. his cutie mark is a water drop creating ripples in the water surface; the water aspect in him is clear. his decision to take coco in is what jump starts all the events that unfold, and his relentless pursuit of brimcaps show he is not someone to, pardon the awkward pun, let the waters stay calm.

- agott: ah. she. my favorite, best character right here, prepare for me going off. unlike everyone else, agott´s ears are perpetually folded (she is one serious and a little bit grumpy child after all), but that doesnt necessarily mean she always feels grumpy or sad. she just prefers using words to emoting, which is entirely fair. i hear all zero of you asking, why isnt she a unicorn? surely the arklaums would all be fancy unicorns (yes, really, i think akrome is the most spread around version of her surname, but like i said im sticking to the translated version i prefer because like, again theres at least five different ways this surname is translated), given theyre one of the original houses, shouldering that legacy. reason is twofold: one, being born an earth pony, the one with a runaway gene (here´s where i point to the cake twins as canon mlp example), enhances her status as the family outcast; gives one more reason for her desperation to prove herself to her family. two, it gives her another connection to coco, something she despises at first but then accepts and even cherishes later as she gets to know coco. and because angst is the fuel that keeps me afloat, here´s a fun twist: do yall remember chapter 23, where iguin starts tattooing a forbidden spell on agott´s lower arm but doesnt finish it? i remember. now,  kamome shirahama the series´creator doesnt, as far as ive noticed at least, keep this unfinished spell on agott´s arm (granted its like, just one long line canonically so maybe i just missed it), but to me its way too intriguing of a concept. so pony agott has an incomplete seal on her hoof where you can tell its a seal, and boi does it cause problems to both agott´s psyche and bring unwanted outside attention (you bet there was at least one confrontation with knights moralis over this). she generally hides it under a bracer if theyre away from the atelier. now, her cutie mark is the one im most proud of; a book and a purple bird (specifically a phoenix) in front. the book symbolizes both her personal goal to become a librarian in the tower of tomes, and her main strength as a witch, that is technique derived from studying and hard work. the phoenix symbolizes a cycle of change, of rebirth. she was rejected from house arklaum only to find herself in qifrey´s atelier; a second chance to prove herself. the endless cycle of changes in her life, and she does her best to keep rolling with them. and in her own words, she always strives to become someone better, never content to be as she is now.

coco: as mentioned, coco is an earth pony, an obvious choice for the regular-person-thrusted-into-magical-world characters. she is actually really stoked about agott being an earth pony as well, since agott being so skilled with magic gives coco hope she will be great in her own way one day. brushbuddy enjoys being carried by coco, ponies are fluffy. her cutie mark is a wand, but the tip is a painting stone; a link between her old-new calling of magic finally given a chance, and her past as daughter of a seamstress and her ability to draw perfect straight lines. longing, working towards a future where she can both keep her magic and return her mom from petrification.

richeh: now, like qifrey, i made richeh a unicorn, but unlike qifrey, she is a classical unicorn; that means sligtly tilted ears, longer and curvier horn, and a leonine tail. her trademark deadpan stare is of course included. her cutie mark is an ink wand changing into one of her crystal ribbons, a symbol of her originality and the way she wants to keep her spells her own.

tetia: she has a habit of pronking instead of walking, fitting given she´s the most pinkie pie-esque character in WHA. and also im still terrible at drawing pegasi in flight, but we dont have to talk about that part. her cutiemark is rather simple, a cloud and a rainbow. rainbow for her general disposition and her focus on gratitude, and the cloud for her proficiency/interest in cloud magic.

LIKE this is COMPLETELY surprising album BUT IN THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE as its described it really is a ‘special’ album as while the title track still has their music style and sound theres still an element of summer (a very Terrifying™ summer BUT a ✨Summer✨ album nonetheless) like the b sides are SO different and COMPLETELY caught me off guard when i listened to the highlight medley YET this group of seven amazing and talented women pulled it off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its extremely obvious at this point that their steady and organic growth has grown VERY HIGH this time and (although im still very confused by how everything was released and announced BUT i digress) this different kind of method in performing the song the day before seemed to work??????????
