One of the best things The Librarians ever did was depict the Tree of Knowledge not as an old tree but as a young sapling because there’s always room to grow
#tumblr marked this as mature before#so lets try this again#the librarians#the librarians spoilers#the librarians s2e2

the librarians "and the broken staff" (s2e2) watch through:
oh, we’re starting off right at the end of the last ep. also im guessing the titular broken staff means prospero’s broken staff, considering they didn’t actually catch him.
the way magic is always blue lightning
"i am the first of the fictionals" oh?? very interesting. and they said that fictionals come about when a story is sufficiently popular etc, but prospero entered the real world just after the play was first performed? and he is going against his narrative.
ezekiel always reading the security manual of every building lmaooo
hahaha baird actually was in macbeth in high school. sometimes not being a genius pays off too.
hmm but is this kid checking out shakespeare for normal reasons or is she gonna be important later? miranda in the tempest is older but like. artistic license.
rubix-cube-ing (triangulating) the library lol
"i thought it was me" aw jenkins :( the library doesn’t hate you.
why the FUCK do they keep the roman and greek artifacts (that would cause a fucked up magic explosion thingy if they touched) in the same room???
i love both frankenstein & alice in wonderland. i’m glad they didn’t make frankenstein’s "monster" like many modern portrayals, the novel character is so much more interesting.
aw baird & jacob have a little handshake thing? cute
is eve gonna go to the tree of knowledge? hm, i think something happened last time a woman named eve went there…
ooh cause if moriarty falls off a cliff!! well!! she shouldn’t have pointed that out, should’ve let him just jump and see what happens lol
script writers getting a chance to break out all the shakespeare they’ve probably had to study over the years haha
DID THEY SET THE TREE OF KNOWLEDGE ON FIRE. tell me he was bluffing!!
oh yes good job! what DID he burn tho. seems like a problem.

The Buffy Re-watch: S2E2 (part 2)
Some Assembly Required
Xander and Cordelia are upping the bickering
As bad as I feel for Chris's mum, I feel worse for him. His mum is so checked out to the point of neglecting him. I've been in Chris's position, it is horrible.
Giles: 'This is against the rules.' Buffy: 'Wanna help?' Giles; 'Oh, yes please.' He's so easily influenced.
So, basically this episode is like 'Bride of Re-animator'. Where is Jeffrey Combs when you need him. Thank you Dead Meat for introducing me to that film.
Aw, Giles. ASH plays being a stuffy librarian with bad social skills towards women so well. Seriously, this is a nice change from Ted Lasso, the Rupert he played in that was a colossal twat.
Jenny asks Giles on a date to give him the chance to ask her on one. It's sweet.
Hey, look. Daryl is alive, or undead.
Grief makes you do stupid things, which in this case involves murder.
Buffy knows what it is like to lose someone. A reference to her old watcher and someone else we will discover later in the season.
Then it dawns on Buffy what is going on.
Question: Daryl died during a rock climbing accident, but was brought back. He most likely had a funeral, so was processed by a mortician, and was possibly buried because of the gravestone of his we see at the end of the episode. So, how was he brought back okay, but the heads of the 3 girls were bad because of formaldehyde causing further brain cell decay? Or was Daryl never buried or processed by a mortician? If not, did they bury what was left of him after the fire, if there was anything left, which is why he got a gravestone at the end?
Jenny and Giles got changed for their date. Dressing to impress each other.
As a British person, American Football is just rugby with a bunch of padding. Now if they were playing in suits of armour, I would watch that.
Willow and Xander interrupting the date. Bad teenagers, don't cramp the adults style.
Nice touch of using the crowd to drown out Cordy's screams. Also requires good timing.
As Daryl slams Buffy into the trolley, you get a good view of the stunt double.
Despite the events of the night, Giles got a second date. Go Giles, you ruggedly handsome librarian you.
Cordelia as actually being nice and thanked Xander, and he just brushes it off. Dude, be nice, say 'you're welcome'. Be polite. Ass.
I'll admit the Buffy/Angel scene was cute. I'm glad that Angel fessed up to being jealous of Xander. The reasons he gives for being jealous are the reasons he gives when he leaves in season 3. For now though, cute couple, holding hands and walking home.
Tomorrow, a new big bad arrives. He bleaches his hair and wears a cool leather coat. The first appearance of Spike and it's going to be so much fun.

😊 Love That Journey for Me: The Queer Revolution of Schitt’s Creek (Emily Garside) - a short collection of essays about Schitt’s Creek
🙂 Anne of Ingleside (Anne of Green Gables #6) (L.M. Montgomery, author; Barbara Barnes, narrator) - it did warm my completionist heart to bring the series to a close. I absolutely did love that they had a giant cat they named The Shrimp. And I was left a little breathless at the very end by the casually dropped info that Anne’s 2nd son will die in WWI.
😊 The Rowdy Renegade (The Adventures of Nick & Carter #3) (Frank W. Butterfield) - I just continue to love watching Nick & Carter progress through the years
😍 The Compact (astolat) - 64K, HP - loved this expanded worldbuilding Arthurian transformation with political marriage and ambiguous choices
🙂 Cited to Death (Jamie Brodie Mystery #1) (Meg Perry) - perfectly satisfying cozy; I like that it’s queer and protagonist is an academic librarian; there’s the usual amount of background copaganda so ymmv
😊 The Wolf and the Sparrow (Isabelle Adler) - arranged marriage tropetastic romance fantasy
💖 +193K of shorter fic so shorter work shout out 💖
Bumpkin (bibliosexual) - Schitt’s Creek: Patrick x David, 2K - suuuuuper cute first meeting AU
Everything About It Is a Love Song (pocky_slash) - X-Men: Erik x Charles, 19K - Erik turns 79 and finally decides to retire with Charles to a small town in upstate NY and it’s both wonderful and takes a lot of adjustment. The series is called Old Retired Dudes and it’s delightful and feels very real.
Ten Kinds of Grateful (Speranza) - MCU: Stucky, 3K - a 4 Minute Window Thanksgiving fic. I legit got teary when I saw the notification for this.
