The Lost 4
Warnings:Â non/dubcon, mentions of loss, grieving, death, and other dark elements. My username actually says you never asked for any of this.
Characters:Â nomad!Steve Rogers
Summary: You move into a shared flat and encounter a mysterious man.
My warnings are not exhaustive but be aware this is a dark fic and may include potentially triggering topics. Please use your common sense when consuming content. I am not responsible for your decisions.
As usual, I would appreciate any and all feedback. Iâm happy to once more go on this adventure with all of you! Thank you in advance for your comments and for reblogging.
You donât eat breakfast, not that you ever really do. You buy enough food to have dinner when you get home and thatâs about it. As the clock ticks on, stretched longer by a sleepless night, you count down to the inevitable. You have to leave that room eventually.
You dress in the convenience store button up, an ugly shade of mustard and pin your nametag on. Not wanting to risk running into your housemates, you talk yourself down to quickly brushing your teeth and tidying up. You wonât shower.
You listen through the door but hear nothing. Not like the night before when you heard everything. When you heard too much.
You bring your little canvas pouch of toiletries and lock your door behind you, just in case. You look left then right, heading down towards the bathroom. You stop as you find the door closed. Shoot. You hesitate, struggling to make up your mind. You should just go back and wait in your room.
Too late. The door opens and you jump in your shoes. You stumble back into the wall, unable to hide your fright. S emerges, his blond hair slightly damp as he combs it back with his fingers. The scent of his soap wafts out with him, warm bergamot cutting through the dingy air of the aged house.
âSorry,â he leaves the door open behind him as he steps out, âdidnât mean to scare ya.â
You nod and wave him off, mouthing âitâs fineâ but unable to summon your voice.
âItâs all yours. Hope you werenât waiting too long,â he hugs tighter the folded towel in his arm, curled around a leather zip up bag.
You give an âmhmâ but his timbre just reminds you of the threats that slipped beneath your door the night before. In your head, the unseen menace was a slimy little ghoul, waiting to creep up on you. You look over your shoulder as S passes.
âHe hasnât bothered you again, has he?â He stops and turns back to you.
You shake your head.
âGood,â his chest rises as he glances towards the far end of the hallway, âGuyâs a freak. On paroleâŠâ he faces you again, ânot to scare you but you should know.â
You lower your eyes and squeeze your pouch tight. You bite your lip and turn to the bathroom. As you approach the door, he shifts on his feet, the floorboards creaking beneath his weight. You stop but canât bring yourself to look at him.
âThank you,â you squeak.
He doesnât answer right away. You linger in the silence before he musters his response, âno problem. Girl like you, can never be too safe.â
You donât have a chance to reply. His door opens and shuts and you peek over to find him gone. You keep your hand on the door handle as his words cling in your mind. A girl like youâŠ
Is it so obvious that you're alone? Vulnerable? Afraid?
If it is, maybe itâs better that you have someone like him watching over you.
đȘ
You arrive for your shift and take over after balancing the till. Itâs quiet and you donât get much more than the usual pop-ins. An old woman takes up close to twenty minutes playing the scratch cards and a group of teens come in to buy energy drinks and ten cent candies. It makes you wish you only worried about wasting your money on unwinnable jackpots and unhealthy snacks.
You spend your downtime doing the crossword in the newspaper Aziz left behind. The pencil lead dulls with each letter you press into the newsprint. The door chimes again and you peek up as a greasy haired man looks around. His eyes scan the store and finally land on you.
You stand up straight and greet him in your small way. Your voice crackles beneath the drone of radio DJs as they discuss their weekend follies. The man nods and diverts to the magazine rack. You tap the pencil and go back to the puzzle, glancing up periodically as he browses the shelf.
When at last he retreats from his perusal, he approaches and lays down one of the magazines shrouded in black film. You try not to show your discomfort as you flip it over to scan the bar code, overly aware of its more adult contents. He doesnât show an shame as he leans on the counter and breathes loudly through his nose.
âThey all got fake tits these days,â he snivels, âI remember my dadâs rags they used to have the natural girls.â
You blanch and hit total, reading out the amount owing. He snickers and reaches into his pantsâ pocket, feeling around a bit too long before dragging his hand out. He chuckles and reaches into his jacket instead, taking out his wallet. Ew.
The door chirps, signalling another customer. You donât look over. The man across from you searches his wallet slowly, fluttering his fingers over the bills inside. His tongue flicks out like a lizardâs.
âIs cash or credit easier, sweetie?â
The pet name sends a chill through you as his tone tickles your memory. Thatâs the voice you heard last night. That sickly, simpering slither. You canât help but take a step back, even with the shield of plexiglass between you.
The other customer appears behind the man and clears his throat, âpay and get out.â
You look past the greasy-haired man as S looms behind him. His fist closes and opens, as if heâs holding himself back. You gulp as the other man rolls his eyes.
âMind your business, meathead,â he deliberately counts out the bills. âItâs the handsome ones that are meanâŠâ he tuts, ânice guys like me, well, weâre hard to find.â
âShe doesnât care. Sheâs working,â S snarls.
âYou donât own the store, guy,â the other retorts, âyou donât scare me.â
âI donât gotta scare you,â S steps closer.
The other man bares his teeth but shrinks, just a little. He throws down the money and shoves it through the slot. You gather it up. It feels almost as slimy as he looks. You reach your hand under with his change and he grabs your hand, closing it around the coins.
âYou keep that, sweetie,â he squeezes, âpretty girl like you earned it.â
âDonât touch her,â S grabs him from behind, wrenching him away. The suddenness has your front hitting the counter before the strange man lets you go. âTake your stuff,â S snatches up the magazine as he holds the man by his scruff, âand go.â
He throws him against the door before whipping the magazine at him. You watch helplessly. The smaller man, much smaller than S, catches the porn rag and tries to look fearsome against his accoster. Itâs a pathetic attempt. He seems to realise as he slouches down and tucks tail, pushing out into the street with a grumble.
S shakes his head and turns back, marching to the counter. He puts his single protein shake on the other side of the glass. You swallow and put the change down shakily.
âThose are two for four, sir,â you say, âif youâre interested.â
He nods thoughtfully, his throat bobbing. âThanks, uh, yeah, maybe Iâll grab another.â
He draws away and walks down the center aisle. He stands before the cooler, pulling open the door, before swiftly spinning on his heel and coming back. He places a strawberry shake next to the vanilla one. You scan both and the till applies the discount.
âSorry, er, to cause a scene. I just⊠he shouldnât be pestering you. Especially at work.â
âN-no, itâs⊠itâs fine. Itâs⊠nice,â you stammer out as you accept his five dollar bill. âYou donât have to⊠do that.â
âIt's not about 'have to',â he shrugs as you count out his change. He takes it, then the vanilla shake. He doesnât touch the other one.
âSir,â you point to the strawberry.
âYou seem like the strawberry type,â he steps back on his heel, âitâs for you.â
âI⊠I canâtââ
âYou didnât eat breakfast. You should,â he insists.
âSir, reallyââ
âIâll leave it here,â he says, âin case you change your mind.â He nudges it closer to the glass, âmake sure you give it a good shake. The flavour settles at the bottom.â
He turns away before you can argue. Again, he ends the conversation with his departure. As generous as he is, you get the idea heâs not into negotiating.

Hinata The Last Blank Period
What sheâs done & Scaling for her adult years despite the peacful times.
 The Last movie :
Mastery of the gentle fist over the timeskip
Then a bit of pre war arc scailing & Her accoplishments during war arc
Requesting to go on the mission to rescue Hanabi
Hinata uses her byakugan to help track down Hanabi
Hinataâs byakugan can see as far as 20 kilometers ( 12 miles ) without missing a single detail Hinata could see a trail of Hanabi's chakra (before Harmaâs chakra)(She is a tracker so this shouldnât be new)
Leaving to save her sister, stop Toneri and to destory the Tenseigan from hitting the Earth. While trying talking to Toneri in a peaceful manner trying to change his about Shinobi.
Intelligence & deduction:
Hinata was able to find Hamuras tenseigan on her own. (Her speciality as a tracker is coming in handy)
Combat:
The puppets she fought were at least High Jounin level. Using basic gentle fist.
(head puppet that gave people some trouble.)
The head puppet that gave base Naruto some trouble
Surpassing her father
Hiashi on the other hand(along with his body guards), got beaten and had to use Kaiten to throw them away while Hinata never used her strongest jutsu against them, she fought them with the basic gentle fist.
People will say "the puppets held back against Hinata!â
Toneri threw an explosion at her, he treated her badly and asked his puppets to fight her.
Hiashi cannot that feat when he barely handled falling rocks.
The tall puppet also defeated Hiashi but not Hinata
Hinata is the only known Hyuga member who uses the Twin lion fists also use it in conjunction with sixty four palms. But she also developed different version of the jutsu Â
â Eight Trigrams Twin Lion Surging Shotâ
Hinata & Naruto destoryed the tesigan together
Side note: Hinata wasnât fully recovered when she attempted to destroy the Tenseigan. She literally just got a green orb removed from her. ( he kept doing this on repeat)
That orb tampers and messes with the chakra flow. Look at what happened to Naruto after the orb hit him. Even Hinata could barely stand on the wall after Toneri used the orb on her. This ain't no antifeat.
Taking Hanabiâs eyes back form Toneri
Hinata was able to restore Narutos chakra reservesÂ
light novels- aka continuity problem city, then adding boruto anime canon...gives me a headache.
Sasuke Shiden:
Using her byakugan to see what happening how random people are exploding
One shot civilians one at a time to making sure there are non casualties.
(no she didn't faint nor was she pregnant that was filler)
Helping out to identify the problem in the hospital.
Can download the books for free here:
Side Note: A narrative perspective, expecting for Hinata to be really strong in the movie because she is a MC and the heroine but she can't overshadowing Naruto because he is the MC which is why she didnât destroy the Tenseigan alone
For plot reasons, she had to do it with Naruto.
Toneri : level threat only two people at the time could defeat him. Aka just the only people at the time Naruto & Sasuke.
She's come far despite the little screen time she had. Adopting the nindo to never give up. Training hard to become a Gentle Fist Master the strongest taijutsu. She's around Kage level in terms of fighting.
I'll be able to fix redo this later in more detail if I have the time.

Image 1: From the movie. The Doctor whispers into a man's ear. Quote: I'm half-stupid. On my mother's side.
Image 2: from Night. The Doctor speaks and is lit from behind by candlelight. Quote: I've witnessed solar systems vanish in the twinkling of an eye. I've seen things that would freeze your blood. So don't threaten me. Don't ever threaten me.
Image 3: Movie. The Doctor leans on a chair. Quote: Everybody's dead. That's one of the problems with time travel. Everybody's always dead, and everybody's always alive. It's all a question of where you're standing.
Image 4: Movie. The Doctor stands next to Grace, and offers a bag of jelly babies to someone off screen. Quote: That's right, I'm an alien. Take me⊠to your laundry.
Image 5: Night. The Doctor looks somber and speaks. Quote: There are thing that I am afraid that I might do one day.
Image 6: Movie. Grace examines the Doctor. Quote: I'm not completely without my flaws, you know. I'd hope they added to my natural charm.

Image 8: Movie. The Doctor speaks. Quote: I may look like a fool, but I always know what I'm talking like a fool about.
Image 9: Movie. The Doctor walks around the cave and speaks. Quote: I suppose the universe was bound to do this to me eventually, wasn't it? A universe that contains such unrefined evil as the daleks, or wontan amorality as the Monk. It was bound to push me over the edge.
Image 10: Movie. The Doctor in the TARDIS. Quote: Keep on moving. Never look back. Well, hardly ever. End description.]

Sometimes I think about how and why some people had such a *bad* reaction to the end of Steven Universe, specifically in regards to the Diamonds living.
Even though they no longer are causing harm to others and are able to actually undo some of their previous harm by living, some folks reacted as though this ending was somehow morally suspect. Morally bankrupt, even.
And I think it might be because so many of us were raised on a very specific kind of kids media trope:
They all fall to their deaths.
Disney loves chucking their bad guys off cliffs. And it makes sense- in a moral framework where villains *must* be punished (regardless of whether their death will actually prevent further harm or not), but killing of any kind is morally bad for the hero, the narrative must find a way to kill the villain without the protagonists doing a murder.
It's a moral assumption that a person can *deserve* to die, that it is cosmically just for them to die, that them dying is evidence that the story itself is morally good and correct. Scar *deserves* to die, but it would be bad for Simba to kill him. So....cliff. (edit: yes, cliff then hyenas. But cliff first. Lol.)
Steven Universe, whatever else it's faults, took a step back and said "but if killing people is bad, then people dying is bad", and instead of dropping White Diamond off a cliff, asked "what would actual *restorative*, not punitive, justice look like? What would actual reparations mean here? If the goal is to heal, not just to punish, how do we handle those who have done harm?" And then did that.
Which I think is interesting, and that there was pushback against it is interesting.
It also reminds me of the folks who get very weird about Aang not killing Ozai at the end of Avatar. And like, Ozai still gets chucked in prison, so it doesn't even push back on our cultural ideas of punitive justice *that much.* and still, I've seen people get real mad that the child monk who is the last survivor of a genocide that wiped out his entire pacifist culture didn't do a murder.
