On this episode of are they real brothers or nah? We got Parkorn and Pawin from Double Savage

I know we all are still reeling from midnight museum and their "he looks like your little brother/nong" bullcrap. And are all 100% sure that the gmmtv writer can't write a brotherly relationship between REAL brothers.

And you get feed from the get go that pakron the first born is seen as this "jinks", as if he is the only reason his dads and moms life is going downhill. And that his father really REALLY hates him. He treats his other children completely different.

And the more info you see the more your brain is going to. What if the "jinks" has some OTHER meaning, like this boy is not MY son and thats why he is not getting any love kinda meaning? So with that mindset you go into the scene, where pawin is asking his mother if their dad really is korns dad and she gives us this

and you sit there like

.....maybe we will get more glimpses of this in the next episodes. Because it feels as if there is somethingelse going on there or happend there and we all will lose your wigs, shits, hopes and will when they drop it on us. Or maybe not it's a gmmtv show it's really is a 50/50 here.

In conclusion:

Quick notes on two Sunday dramas:

1) The End of the World, With You, episode 7: we’re almost at the finish line, Ritsu had a few revelations, he showed off an INSANE EIGHT-PACK, DID I COUNT CORRECTLY, Masumi and Ritsu are back together. I really liked the middle episodes of this series, but for some reason, TEOTWWY isn’t carrying me through to the end. I just don’t know why this show didn’t gel for me. That being said: I was moved by the ending of this episode, of Masumi seeing Madoka’s altar, and watching the notion of death become a reality in that instant. 

Okay, I take a little of this back: I WAS also moved by the river scene, of Masumi admitting he would have never done anything like that before, taking a river bath in the middle of the day. And seeing Ritsu so moved by Masumi’s admission -- and seeing the flashbacks of what Ritsu felt towards Masumi after college. (Although I thought the post-breakup scenes of Masumi were overblown.)

I might be missing this series for what it has to offer simply by reading too much into it. I’m going to watch the final episode next week and take it down a notch by just WATCHING IT, rather than looking for the hallmarks of what I’ve seen from Miki Koichiro in the past. 

2) UMG, episode 1: I’m watching this for Nanon and Milk (let’s see...Manon? Minon? Nilk?) Two 10-year old kids, Mew (Nanon) and Erng (Milk) are best friends, with Mew in love with Erng. Erng disappears mysteriously in a forest and is assumed dead. Ten years later, Mew joins a college club that investigates paranormal activity, and inadvertently joins the investigation of the missing Erng. The show has Namtan Tipnaree, who I don’t know yet, but is DARLING in her role as a gal who’s interested in aliens and wants to help Mew in his search for Erng. She cute. 

I’d be watching Midnight Museum instead, but I don’t do ghosts and related scary shit. I’m also committed to trying to mix up my shows from QL-land (especially as I’m on the Old GMMTV Challenge journey -- my head needs a break from the historical watches). UMG is only 10 episodes, so this will hopefully be an easy watch, and I’m absolutely loving a) the way it’s filmed -- it’s giving a little Jojo/Dirty Laundry at the moment, and b) Drake as Mew’s friend has me cracking the hell up. Luv you, Korn. It’s cute, light, whatever -- we’ll see about it!

Today is our Independence Day (July 9th).

So, of course, on social media there are all kinds of posts about it. But one got my eye (on a comedian's Instagram profile). And the image was this...

For context, our President is a Libertarian. The sentence belows says "I tread wherever I want".

Fair... politics, right? But...

A Mazorquero? REALLY?

The "soldier" stepping on the Libertarian Snake belongs to a militia created by our first ever Dictator: Juan Manuel de Rosas.

Rosas, just like Perón, is a figure equally loved and hated in Argentina (reason why, I believe, the Kirchneristas -the Peronista's latest spawn- are trying to revindicate him). He did some good things, for example he did "buy" or traded lands from the natives instead of just going down the Patagonia killing them all like Roca did (taking lands, even by legal ways, from the natives is up for debate but this post isn't about it) and he did respected and protected labourers because he was raised in the country side, working from sun to sun, so he understood them in a way that no other oligarch could.

However... he was our first dictator and remains in history as one. Aside from giving himself "super-powers" (so the ability to make laws or reforms without consulting with our Congress. Something that many others did afterwards, including our president now, but always for a limited amount of time -this time is for 6 months-), he hated his opposition to the point of forcing everyone to use the "Divisa Punzó", a red ribbon that showed their support to his persona (if any of you ever gets to go to the Luján Historical Museum, you'll see that his red and his portrait were in everything, from paintings in every home, to the gloves and teacups that the ladies used). The Opposition (the Unitarios) usually used the colour sky-blue, taking after our flag.

Enter the Mazorqueros ("Mazorca" is the Spanish word for the korn's cob). At first it was his own armed force but over time they became his repression tool. They would hunt for the oppositors, torture them and kill them (there are stories like "El Matadero" -The Slaughterhouse- from that time that tell how everything used to work) and they also controlled that people had the Divisa Punzó/images of Rosas visible... I guess you get the picture...

So... using an oppressor to speak of liberty and independence... really?

We have other soldiers, born out of the revolutionary efforts against Spain like the Granaderos, created by José de San Martín (whom freed not just Argentina but Chile and Perú as well from the Spanish influence)

And the Patricios, born before the revolution, after the First English Invasion (we didn't had an army, we were still under Spain's influence and there weren't many spanish soldiers either... so the people had to protect themselves during the invasion -they kicked the English's asses-, and this was one of the reasons why the Revolution began, we couldn't rely on Spain anymore)

But no... they choose the 1830's equivalent to the reason behind ACAB.

There's nothing like using an oppresive tool to say that you are all about FreedomTM.
