Want to feel old?
The Treaty of Constantinople was signed 300 years ago.

It’s been about 12 yrs since I was last in Portland, OR and I did not expect to get as emotional as I did visiting my old college. Walking through campus as I am now I felt this intensely surreal nostalgia, wishing I could have a chance to experience it all over again as a significantly happier girl instead of as the pitiful sad boy I was. Losing those years to dysphoria and denial has left scars and phantom pains that will never go away but that hurt is also a reminder of all the things I’m proud of because I worked so fucking hard to excavate the woman I am out of the boy I was.

Bachelor's Degree class of 2007 solidarity. It's fun getting old.
Ha! Excellent. *fistbump*
It actually is fun getting old though. I’m glad we’re both still here <3

2007 was five years ago in 2019 but then five more years passed and now it's been over a century since 2007.
I’m slowly beginning to accept the reality that 2007 was not last year but in fact almost four years ago

Doge is dead!
It's been years since I could crack a "Youth is truly gone!" since it's been gone for a good damn while by now, but this one really does underline the inexorable march of time.
RIP Kabosu, who inspired one of the most influential memes of all time; Doge.

I’m still around! Saw my sister in Richmond around the end of summer last year, and she’s since moved to Virginia Beach and is currently in the process of relocating to the suburbs outside of Philly. I had some major mental issues and got through them, went back to painting my fingernails for the first time in years and have been doing it all the time now, turned 30 while on a trip to Austin, Texas meeting some online friends, got to my first anniversary working at my job as a crisis clinician, and applied for a Critical Psychology PhD program at Point Park University! (Still waiting to hear back.) Also tried to move out into my own apartment closer to my work but found out I’m stuck in my current lease until next March because I didn’t realize the lease had been auto-renewing. Also failed at making it out to London for a trip, but hopefully someday.
I’ve been away for a while just because I had trouble keeping up with everything when I started my new job because I wasn’t used to being so busy. I’m adjusting now, but if I get into the PhD program it will be even busier. So I’ll have to see what happens.

1, 9, 14 for the end of year asks? :)
1. Song of the year?
Lots of options for this one but I'm going to go with "Preferiria no fer-ho" by Els Amics de les Arts <3
9. Best month for you this year?
Ooof, well this is was not a year of many good months unfortunately, but I'm going to say August because it started off in a really scary way and then became much more hopeful (and ended before things got scary again). Either that or November, which I got to spend with lots of people I love, and that was nice.
14. Favorite book you read this year?
INCERTA GLÒRIA JOAN SALES MY ABSOLUTE BELOVED <333
#i don't want to say it was a bad year bc it was very meaningful but it was a very heavy year#also would not like to leave it behind but the inexorable march of time continues nonetheless#anyways enough of that on to continuing to be very silly <- needs to stop doing this and actually deal with things that happened#ask games
