so her first appearance as far as i know is in the concept art shown at the end of volume 2!! here she is

i don't know japanese so i can't read what the text above her head says, but iirc she was supposed to be anya's friend as well! might still happen, i hold out hope, i like her design.

in terms of CANON appearances though, she's a background character! doesn't appear as much as other recurring girls because the ones who have the most appearances thus far are the desmond fangirls, which she's not a part of, but some of her appearances are:

chapter 25 (arts and crafts chapter, she's in damian and anya's group)

and chapter 28 (george chapter, she's part of the dance)

not sure if she has more notable appearances besides that, but she still appears nonetheless! as far back as chapter 9, in fact, which speaking of, here's where she is in class:

I wish I could say I was surprised by the results of this election, but I’m not. Over and over again, groups of people in America have turned over and shown their nastiest sides — hateful, evil, selfish, and more.

I guess the solution is to turn to grassroots organizations and efforts. Organize, make local voices heard, and enact small positive change where we can. I guess we can only do what we can do — $5 to another Gaza fundraiser while Trump encourages Netanyahu to do his worst. Signing yet another petition on change.org. Calling my local representatives and making my voice heard. Participating in protests.

But how can I plant a garden or focus on sustainable choices when I know the president doesn’t believe in climate change? I feel like these next six years before 2030 are absolutely crucial, and we have a governing body that will continue to do absolutely nothing. I can’t get over the feeling that we’ve completely doomed the human race in an irrevocable way. We’re never going to make it to fulfilling the Paris Agreement, or turning back from the 2% increase in global temperatures that essentially dooms our society.

The NYT says that areas in North Carolina that faced the worst of Hurricane Helene shifted right. So what do they think a Republican government is going to do? Give aid? I went to a workshop all about mitigation and adaptation — that’s what we have to focus on now, not reversal. Trump has no interest in small solutions. Trump has no interest in mitigating or adapting to anything.

There are so many horrible things that seem to be hovering right above us, waiting to drop. I hope I’m not belittling the other issues — attacks on the lgbtq+ community, removal of women’s rights, the dehumanization of immigrants — but I can’t help but feel climate change is the one that dooms everyone in an irreversible way, and will do so quite quickly and quietly. In the next few months, perhaps.

I’m not sure how to go into my classroom and teach the values of kindness, generosity, and respect that I hold so dearly when one of the most powerful people in the world doesn’t care about any of those, and will never display them. On Monday I’ll pull it together and walk in with a fierce positivity and hopefullness because I know my attitude matters. But I’m not really ready to do that yet.

it's so funny to me that caleb and veth really did just trade off the job of intensely pining for the other at like the halfway point of the campaign. like, imo, nott in the early days did not behave in any real romantic or even romance-adjacent ways toward him--I imagine it would be very hard to even think in that way when you hate what you look like so much, have such low self-esteem, and are actively lying about your entire past, including a secret husband. caleb, on the other hand, is kind of diving directly back into the sort of relationship he had with astrid and eadwulf. very close, very intimate, we-huddled-for-warmth-together-and-oops-it-led-to-something-else sort of thing. he is the one who expresses that he's fine with it if people think he and nott are romantically together when they're talking to keg. nott is the one who pushes back on that. he calls her his life partner. unknowingly, he compares his feelings for nott to nott's feelings for yeza. his behavior only really starts to change after he finds out about veth's husband because suddenly all of that other stuff is rendered inappropriate in retrospect. but even then he compliments her to yeza over dinner in the most awkward of ways, he admits to being jealous, he calls yeza "a lucky man" to have her, he stares at veth and yeza closed bedroom door for far too long, he creates an entire arcane tower with room for her family just so she'll stay with him. in general, his behavior is not, um, totally and completely platonic about it, you know?

like, veth's feelings for caleb are canonical and therefore indisputable in their existence, but caleb in the early days was not that dissimilar to how veth was acting near the end of the campaign. it really paints a picture of "right person, wrong time" in the way things just didn't line up for them. or, as veth would say: "in another world, maybe"
