🦆Regressor!Sanji Headcanons (Bc I love him and he deserves happiness)🦈

⚠️Tw! Brief mentions of smoking

-Regresses pretty young, around 2 to 4 years old

-100% a stress regressor. After all he's been through with his family and his life, it makes sense that he would crave a childhood better than the one he actually had. He's too stubborn to ask for help though and definitely tried to hide his regression once he realized what it was. Anytime he regressed early on he thought he was just being overdramatic and weird, but once he put the pieces together he completely shut himself off from regression out of shame, until the crew later convinced otherwise

-He's really, really shy when little. Always hiding behind people or talking super quiet. Partially due to trauma, partially due to anxiety. He sticks particularly close to Robin and Nami because of that, they remind him of his mother

"Sanij-kun? Hey, is something wrong?" Nami asked, glancing down in worry at the blonde who had stopped talking about fish and had ducked behind her. Across the room, Zoro and Luffy, who had just entered, fell quiet.

"Sanji?" Robin tried next, working off a hunch. "Are you alright, little one?" She asked, voice taking on a softer tone.

A pair of nervous blue eyes peaked back at Nami and Robin, then they darted to Luffy and Zoro. He shook his head sheepishly. "Got nervous..." He admitted.

Nami glanced at the two, before putting an arm around Sanji's shoulders and smiling down at him. "Don't worry, Sanji-kun. I won't let them mess with you. If they try, I'll make 'em pay." She said, before snickering to herself and adding. "Literally."

-Always has something in his mouth, be it a paci, a bottle or a teether. If he doesn't have something to chew on he gets really fussy and nervous. It's like a substitute for his smoking habit when big, as much as he hates to think that way

-Little Sanji absolutely adores fish and the ocean and will babble about them for hours if given the chance. Sometimes Robin will sit with him in the Aquarium Bar in the Thousand Sunny and let him tell her facts about the fish or ramble about the "All Blue" and how badly he wants to see it

-He really likes playing pretend! His favorite to play with is Usopp, because he always got super in character, especially when he got to be the hero!

-When he's little, Luffy and Usopp adopt him as their little brother and proceed to get him into all sorts of stupid little adventures. They were eventually banned from watching him alone because the other Strawhats couldn't take the constant heart attacks

-Has the cutest little giggles and smiles ever. They're incredibly infectious and heartwarming

-Zoro has no idea how he's supposed to act around Sanij when he's regressed, so he just ends up acting like an annoying older brother. He teases him and tries to ruffle him up sometimes, but usually treats him a lot like how he does Chopper

Zoro glared down at the pouty cook in front of him, Sanji glaring back with equal annoyance. Normally Zoro would've taunted him, called him a bastard to start a fight, but it was difficult to be genuinely annoyed with his rival when Sanji's glare was accompanied by a pouty lip and puffed up cheeks. The swordsmen huffed, before leaning down and poking the mini cooks for head, earning him a more confused look. He smirked.

"Lemon." Was all he said, but the nickname was enough to make Sanji shove his hand away in childlike frustration. Much like a lemon, Sanji made a sour face before yelling back; "Moss!" at the big jerk!

Zoro merely choked off a laugh at the mini cook's expression.

Even when Nami piped up by asking; "Are you seriously picking a fight with a four-year-old, Zoro?"

-He's very affectionate, loves to be held, cuddled, carried, you name it. Luffy, Usopp, Nami and Chopper all spoil the heck out of him because of it. This boy is never starved of affection ever again and they'll make sure of that!

-He likes to play "cook" for the crew sometimes. He'll make them little pretend meals just like he does when he's big! His favorite to play this game with is Brook, cuz' he's always so silly about it!

-When Sanjis little he loves to be around Chopper because 1. Baby Sanji loves animals, 2. Baby Sanji loves soft things and 3. Chopper is both. Chopper pretends that he hates being pet like an animal, but he not-so-secretly puts up with it because Sanji's babbling is adorable

-^^Jumping off of this, Sanji didn't have many (If any?) stuffed animals growing up and when Usopp learned about this he was so upset about it that when the Strawhats arrived at an island for supplies and bought him a stuffed shark and a stuffed duck. They've become Sanji's comfort items ever since

-The Strawhats have almost adopted so. many. animals. because of little Sanji getting attached to random strays. Even worse when Luffy, Usopp or Chopper get roped in;

"For the last time Luffy, no! We are not keeping the snake!" Nami repeated for what felt like the hundredth time.

Sanji, Luffy, Usopp and Chopper all looked up at her with big, puppy-dog eyes before exclaiming in unison; "Pleeeeease Nami??"

Nami stared at them for a moment, before drawing in a sharp breath and turning to Zoro then desperately saying; "Zoro tell them no—!"

I don't like to continue on someone else's post so just two things:

1) Victarion does at a certain point believe Hotho to be the heir to Harlaw - obviously its Victarion so there are plenty of explanations as to why he would be mistaken lol but thats why I entertained the idea of a succession uncertainity at all

2) There are NO characters known to be salt sons in asoiaf just bastards (and we know from TWOIAF that salt sons don't have bastard names I think) so a huge amount of freedom is allowed to the reader to make their own headcanons about exactly how that system works and how bad/remarkable it is for one to actually inherit. Last Serving Daughter Is a great example of making one's own headcanons! I love it

All the rest I agree fully and don't expect this to be the Canon supported option and I hadnt even gone to check where house Serrett Is so thanks for that, just wanted to point out why I made the remarks I did. I just like to always consider interpretations that are not the first that comes to mind.

Per your first point, I combed Vic's chapters but I honestly couldn't find anything specific about Vic believing Hotho to be the heir to Ten Towers. If there is, feel free to send it my way. That said, there is some general ambiguity to that particular inheritance because of Euron's move of making Harras Lord of Greyshield. My read was that because Harras will already be lord of both Grey Garden and Greyshield, it's somewhat expected that he might 'step back' from Ten Towers, and let that inheritance go to another Harlaw (namely Hotho lol).

Per your second point, it is genuinely strange that there are no characters we really know to be salt sons/daughters. To be honest, I think George just included the whole salt wife/son bit without thinking through all of the wrinkles it might cause, so salt wives/sons are pretty much ignored in feastdance. Consider Balon, as according to Aeron, Balon took his first two salt wives when he was seventeen (implying that he took more in the following years). And Balon never had any salt sons by any of these women? Seems unlikely. But obviously, George knew that adding salt sons to the Greyjoy succession crisis would only complicate things further (Asha would never have been Balon's heir, nor would Euron have ever been able to inherit after Balon's death, and story events would not be able to unfold in the way GRRM wanted).

To me, that indicates that maybeeee George shouldn't have included that bit about Balon's salt wives at all. Maybe. Just maybe. And also, Quellon let Balon do that? It seems like it would really undermine Quellon's attempted reforms to let his son go around taking thralls and salt wives. George. George are you listening to me. George. Hey.

Now, if I were famous American novelist George RR Martin (and thank god I'm not), I'd have it so that salt sons start with the last name 'Salt' (distinct from the bastard name 'Pyke'), but if their father has no other sons, then they gain the house name and are raised up as heir. And I would have written salt wives/sons into my story in a way such that they're actually relevant. But alas.

In that same vein, I'm actually a big fan of a potential Iron Islands civil war, because I love cataclysm! I love it when tenuous cultural/societal trappings splinter and create devastating calamity! The Iron Islands have a strong reputation for being fiercely independent and quarrelsome, and I am SO looking forward to the complete catastrophe TWOW will be for them. Even on a small scale, it would be super interesting if salt sons could challenge rock sons for their inheritance via duel or a mini-kingsmoot (lordsmoot?), and that was a constant point of tension. There's just so much juice there!

As a final note, I hope I didn't come across as a "well ackchyually-" annoying weirdo. I just really enjoy discussing the sparse ironborn lore we're actually given. I have approximately ten thousand of my own ironborn headcanons, some of which roughly align with established canon, some of which directly contradict it lol. That's partially why the Iron Islands are my favorite region in Westeros: we're not given nearly as much world-building about them as, say, the Starks, and the world-building we do get sometimes makes absolutely no sense. So there's so much room to craft your own headcanons/lore!

Anyway, I ❤️ other people's ironborn headcanons. I will try to restrain myself from writing another 50,000 words on the topic, but it's so much fun lol.

Not even his gang, or Kuki are the first to see you, nah it’s Itto himself,

he literally finds 12 yr old you just sneaking around in awe in Chinju Forest,

and needless to say ur pretty fascinated with the colors and the vibes, and it’s not like Genshin Impact existed when u were this young, ur poor younger self is just rlly paranoidly looking around

Itto is kinda a lot at first, and he was a little confused by ur constant rubbing your arms, or tapping ur fingers on stuff, (or all the stims u be doing when ur nervous) but he just took it all in stride

so Itto, after like an hour and a few well placed rocks at his face and groin by 12 yr old u who was ready to fight to the death at first, FINALLY convinced you by drawing a little picture of his house and his friends

and all that clear effort, despite the foreign world, foreign non-human guy, etc., made you warm up to him too, afterall, even 12 yr old you knew a himbo when they saw one 💪

at first he just thought you were another person who was getting powered up by that yokai he felt (he was convinced thats what you were when u weren’t physically here before, like some kind of powerful gift giving/deal making yokai)

but after he saw you shapeshift the next morning into 16 yr old you, (he lives with his grandma so ur younger self felt pretty safe staying with a himbo guy and an little grandma lady)

he was now more convinced than ever-

that you were some kind of god that’s been in hiding since the archon war (his granny has a lot of cool stories so what?! hes a very educated oni thank you very much!),

rather than a vision user, and he also thinks u being random ages is deffo a curse, and its to keep ur powerfulness limited!! - Arataki Itto, 202X

(bc younger u doesnt remember that u can upgrade ppl, or at least it takes em a learning curve bc they gotta relearn everytime)

he eventually gets Kuki to believe, after she also sees how you change/the aura is honestly more powerful too once she’s paying attention, like instead of like a blanket, ur like standing in front of a raging campfire

nor do u know how to mask as well as you do in the future

so ur just running around with the gang, living ur little neurodivergent life, and anytime someone points out smth u do that might be awkward, like repeating something over and over as a stim (esp with learning english phrases/new words at times) the gang and Itto, and Kuki, are all ready to protect 💪

but most of the time what happens is- whether unintentionally or not, Itto manages to make THEM feel awkward or like they’re the ones doing something socially weird all the time 😭

just, a parent is like “this kid can’t speak English, do they even know any other language? Because all I keep hearing is them repeating that sound over and over…”

Itto is actually very respectful about you, and while it would, almost be easy bc of the age switching, for him to infantilize you, he’s really good at treating you like an equal no matter how old you are :0 :D

…and she’s shocked at first, but realizing how giggly and happy u two are, and then Itto explains its bc of her???

she doesnt explain, but she literally was so melted by cuteness, and a warm familiarity??, by u two she couldnt be mad anymore lmao

Itto is now legally obligated to bring you to any and all matters involving the government, regardless of age, according to Kuki Shinobu, his grandma, and himself

all for different reasons tho, Itto’s like, “My lucky charm! My bestie goes everywhere with me!”

meanwhile Kuki/grandma: “A foreign non-Teyvatian speaking child/teen at times is more adept at keeping Itto in line than anyone else, or at least getting him out of the consequences 💀”
