I don't have anyone to scream to about reading the Tarot Sequence, so I'm just going to live blog under a cut before I explode.

Reading the second book, and Rune is already trying to keep shit from Brand. It's going as well as you'd expect. I already know the big thing he's hiding from him, and woof.

I love Quinn Saint Nicholas with my whole heart. If anything happens to him, I will burn this place to the ground.

Love Addam and his dramatic entrance to save the day. We love a competent pretty, rich boy. He's privileged, but not useless. Probably the only reason Brand lets him stick around, lbr. Still waiting on the three of them to kiss.

MAX!!!!! I was so meh about him when he was introduced in the first book because I don't care about teenagers in general, but this poor boy, I love him so much. The found family feelings are off the charts. I have so much love for Rune and Brand and Max and Quinn and Addam and Queenie forming this family. Rune and Brand and Max lost their families in one way or another. And Addam and Quinn have seen the worst parts of theirs. But they all deserve better and they're finding it together.

This is so entirely my shit.

So in The Last Sun, Rune talks about how Adam can't be his tallah, and we find out why in The Hourglass Throne. The spoilers start here: what if both Brand and Adam are his tallas, the only way he and Brand connected for the first time was because in the future Adam would be there. Meaning Rune and Adam were always meant to, and always did, go back in time to that night. Runes tallah bond broke in the past with Brand because Adam and current Rune return to the current time.

Final thoughts on The Hanged Man below

can i get a resounding 'fuck the Hanged Man'?? (the character, not the book) because good fucking god. I hated him from the get go, but everything i learned about him just made him even worse.

Quinn is the MVP of this book! Everyone listen to Quinn forever.

The found family feelings with Max had me openly sobbing in my room because god. Also Max standing up for Quinn and getting the others to listen was amazing. I love them as a duo.

Lady Death was a huge bad ass, and it was really cool to see the other Arcana in action. Loved all the talks with Lord Tower and Rune and Mayan and Brand, and the family dynamic between Addam, Quinn, and Lord Tower.

I am still crossing my fingers that the OT3 might be end game because of the conversation Addam and Rune had and just how well Addam is learning how to read the two of them. I might have to write some fic.

I am...intrigued and a little confused about whatever is going on with Anna. It felt a little...I don't know how to describe it. Like the stakes were high enough without her having these fucky powers, so it was a little much for me. I think it started to get a little off the rails when she made Corinne a Companion so Addam could heal her. Like obviously I didn't want Corinne to die, but Anna had just broken a mass sigil curse to save Rune. The back to back-ness of it felt contrived to me personally. But I am down to see where it goes.

On that note, are we just not going to discuss that Rune basically died for a bit? Like at all?? Brand has nothing to say? No one's going to tell Addam?? I know they all had bigger fish to fry at that point, but like. Nothing??????? It feels a little like it was just there to show Anna's powers, which was cool, but you can't tell me Brand has no feelings about how that felt. Or that Addam wouldn't be pissed to not know about it.

Speaking of Addam, everyone's taking the whole he lost a hand thing very well. Including him. I mean. Yeah, there was no time to deal with it and Addam knew he was risking not being able to reattach the hand with the Healing spell, but I mean. Still pretty major.

Overall, I think the first book was better in terms of pacing and sheer Stuff Going On. But the second book gave me so many amazing character moments that I will forgive it its shortcomings.

I have to wait for book 3 to come in on Libby, but I already know Stuff goes down and it's going to be a ride.
