Re-listening to the Wheel of Time, specifically The Eye of the World. Just barely seeing the first glimpses of what I recall will be an irritatingly long time of the Two Rivers boys not trusting Moiraine as much as they definitely should, all because she’s an Aes Sedai, but it bothers me a little less this time with the benefit of hindsight.
Sure, Moiraine is a good egg, but the vast majority of Aes Sedai definitely should not be spared at least some amount of suspicion. The pieces of advice they’ve all received about how “Aes Sedai do things for reasons that aren’t always what you think” and they “don’t always speak the truth you think you hear” would be legitimately good advice if they applied it to anyone but Moiraine and a select few others. As much as it may be frustrating, I must admit that it’s not only in-character, but also perfectly reasonable for them to be so cautious.
In light of this, Egwene being super on-board with learning to channel is honestly the more surprising behavior. Hasn’t she heard the same tidbits of advice the other Emond’s Fielders have heard? Then again, she’s been anxious to leave her hometown behind since the very beginning, and certainly Moiraine has done plenty to convince her that she’s one of the good guys. She’s probably willfully ignoring the warnings she’s been hearing because it better suits her existing worldview that life will be better and more interesting beyond the bounds of the Two Rivers. Out of the four of them she’s certainly the most adventurous, being the only one to leave home by choice as opposed to out of necessity.
Still, as good of a choice it is for Egwene to trust Moiraine specifically, it pains me to recall the degree to which blindly trusting an Aes Sedai will cause suffering for her in the next book, with (spoiler) Liandrin handing her off to the Seanchan and some of the most traumatic experiences of her life. What a cruel lesson to teach a wide-eyed girl who dreams of adventure. But I digress.
Time will tell if my attitude toward this piece of conflict will remain positive as my re-read continues. If memory serves, a lot of the conflict in these books is founded on an unnecessary lack of communication, and I can easily see this lack of trust taking a turn in that direction if it overstays its welcome, which I suspect it will. We’ll see, I suppose. Back to listening for me. Further updates will probably follow.

Why don't they allow Rand to have his big moment from the books? I don't get it.
I mean, why is he the dragon reborn again? Is he just a symbol on the show while the characters around him accomplish stuff and then he gets the credit?
All the others characters get theirs. Mat got his horn moment, Perrin gets his wolfbrother moments. The wonder girls hit all their major plot points from the books. Egwene got her moment with Renna, Perrin and the Whitecloaks.
And don't tell me that it needs development when Egwene can heal Nynaeve from death at the end of season one without any training/development or Nynaeve heals like ten people at the same time without any training/development. If they can spontaneously use the one power and heal/fight then so can the Dragon Reborn with his memories from Lews Therin, surely?
Again, why not allow the character get his book moments which are supposed to build up book by book to that final ending?

Yes, yes it was.
"I have to remember her name, not the name they've put on her. She's Ryma, and she's Yellow Ajah, and she has fought them as long and as hard as she could. It is no fault of hers that she hasn't the strength left to fight any longer.'"
-The Great Hunt, Robert Jordan
Watching that was horrifying, so I had to put this up.

Rotating Etho's choice to protect his allies in my mind. Obviously they made incredible escapes and held their own but Etho also refusing to sell out Cleo and Grian meant that nearly everyone else died, some died multiple times, most lost additional hearts, hurt alliances (Scott: Gem has no band loyalty!), and did not gain something like 120 hearts total
Meanwhile, Cleo and Grian get to feel secure in their alliance, not go red, and actually finish their tasks. The playing field has obviously been levelled significantly and they still suffered, but Etho facilitated his alliance gaining the most where everyone else lost the most
Obviously it's a display his loyalty first and foremost but he also played the game, ran the numbers, and counted himself out of success knowing it would be diminishing returns to go after them and I just think that's neat

"Rook loves Vil and Neige"
"Rook the biggest NeigeVil shipper"
"Rook wants to be in a thrupple with Vil and Neige"
Y'all seriously need to stay out of relationships if you think what Rook is doing is in any way shape or form love and not blind toxic obsession. His dream Vil has no personality other than blind adoration of Neige. Even his uniform isn't customized at all. He would lay his life down for Neige and that is the only thing that matters about him. Rook's ideal version of Vil is one who isn't a person but just an accessory to another being he doesn't see as a person either. It is incredibly toxic and unhealthy and I wish y'all realized that.
And Vil calling himself ugly and disgusting for having negative feelings and intrusive thoughts – an idea that Rook planted into his head – is just as toxic. Feeling bad about a genuine injustice committed against you isn't ugly and isn't disgusting and it doesn't define you as a person. Vil shouldn't be calling himself that just because Rook refuses to see him as a person instead of a perfect ideal that gets "sullied" by having negative emotions.

thinking again about how portal stones in tgh and even egwene's testing in tdr confirm that she and rand had no happy ending in emonds field...they both had to channel or the not channeling would kill them, they had to become dragon and aes sedai (amyrlin), the quiet life might have been was never really in the cards...that domestic life would've strangled them and killed them slow...goodbye

At the end of Agatha All Along, Agatha does things would have never done at the beginning. I see people say that they planted seeds for Agatha changing that never grew and that's just wrong. They might not be a tree but they've sprouted. In the beginning Agatha does everything for personal gain. But at then end Agatha has nothing personal to gain from telling Jen she bound her. There's no personal gain in her helping Billy find Tommy in the end or comforting him or helping him unlock Tommy's location. She has changed its just not huge or a dramatic personality change.

I thought show!Verin was great but she is even better in the books? The way she goes on and on when she was with Siuan and Moiraine, just dropping bombshell after bombshell. I died laughing when she went on a tangent about teaching fishes to fly in front of Rand, and Moiraine and Siuan just stare at her expressionless 🤣
