So I abandoned the idea and went to Goon!

lisa the painful was directly inspired by the mother series so i wouldnt be surprised if a lot of characters in lisa are direct references to mother characters :o] i do really love gender non-conformity and openly queer characters but it is important to note that a lot of characters like this, especially for older games like mother 3, are supposed to be transmisogynistic and intersexist stereotypes and their designs were supposed to be "funny" to the games' audiences, and these seem to be no different. while we can certainly try to reclaim these characters we do still have to accept why they were made and the bigotry that was present in the designers. i do like these designs, though! the outfits and colors are cute. makes me wish that they couldve been done by queer people with queer people in mind. also you werent lying, that name... oof

Yeah, work like patrol (and things related to patrol like comms and transport and grappling lines) are not forbidden on Chanuka. At most he would probably require a half hour after candlelighting to sit with the menorah. Considering Chanuka is a winter holiday, candle lighting is based around sunset and shkiah, and patrol is usually late at night, he wouldn’t have any problem at all!

Now there is a genuine halachic debate around wether or not Batman is a first responder (ie someone who is allowed to do melucha (lit. work but used to mean forbidden work) if he is called up) (think off duty EMT who gets called in for a mass casualty event) or someone who needs to be already working (think emergency room doctor). The difference is technically negligible when you consider Batmans response time but there is a conversation.

I like to think that, as a Jewish man, Bruce has no problem with going out on Christmas (if it doesn't intersect with Hannukah), but all of the news outlets get offended on his behalf.

Like, "Can't the criminals stop on Christmas? Even WWII had a ceasefire on Christmas. Batman should be able to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ" and all Bruce is thinking is . . . "Well, a night off WOULD be a miracle . . . ."

As a Jew, it continues to amuse me when people accuse me of not caring about Christmas when I go about my normal life during the holidays. There are dozens of us...dozens of us!!!

Also, I'm fairly certain Hanukkah is a minor enough holiday (festival, technically) that Bruce wouldn't be forbidden from patrol, though I could be wrong about that.
