mickey fans who think ian is bad/toxic/"worse" than mickey (or any other character for that matter) is so funny because like. how do you think mickey would react to you saying that. the whole appeal of mickey is that hes a flea-invested rabid dog that keeps crawling back to ian no matter how bad it is for both of them. thats the whole point of their dynamic. they treat each other like shit, run away to lick their wounds, then mickey drags himself back to lay at ians feet, and ian takes him back every single time because he knows nobody is ever gonna care for him like mickey does. mickey blatantly states in the show that he would extend his prison sentence if it meant staying with ian. if he can obsess over ian unconditionally then so can anyone else idk
#its SUPPOSED to be bad and toxic wdymmmmm#like thats WHY i love them I LOVE TOXIC YAOI!!!!!!#they can work on communication and healthy coping skills in the future. but in the show i just wanna see them have nasty prison sex#'i wanted mickey to have better plots' ok yeah me too 'withouy ian ' well unfortunately thats impossible bc he IS ian#by season 6 his soul is irreparably fused with ians and he lets everyone know it#and listen this is coming from a mickey shooter so you know its serious!#gallavich

Can you make the box smaller? Asking for... not the Lord
You mean this one? Well, I can, but it's really not worth it because, when it comes to tight spaces, after a point she kinda just...
âŠturns into whatever this is, soâŠ
Today's Daily Degurechaff is⊠optimized for small spaces
#dailydegurechaff#âasking for not the lordâ??#I was confused to see that because likeâŠ#you want something ecchi? from me?#do u have the wrong person or something?#but then I realized⊠yeah I did make a sex joke just the other day didnât I#oops#anyway#the trapped in a box trope really works best when you shove two people together#but I donât have the time for something detailed at the moment. maybe in the future#for now something silly

so I like the concept of the cookie dough speech. I think, independently, it's a good conclusion for buffy to come to by the end of the series. However, the context... look, it's been pretty thoroughly established throughout the series that buffy and angel will never work. can never work. is it a great romance, does it make me feel for the characters, do i love the angst of it? yes absolutely. but why am I being told, despite being shown the opposite, that there's a chance in hell that buffy will end up with angel? why am I being told continually by the writing across both shows that a codependent teen romance between two people who like... barely know each other is what buffy should aspire to? for the rest of her life?
this insistence is such a detriment to the characters of both buffy and angel. each grew so much on their respective shows. i love both buffy and angel as characters. I love what their relationship means for their past and how it informs their characters moving forward. but god, just leave it there. framing buffy/angel as the truest love that will ever be, automatically eclipsing any other relationship either of them try to have, is honestly not great messaging. personally i will always be affected in some way by my first love, I think that's a normal, relatable experience. But there's no way that love is a viable part of my future, and it wouldn't be healthy for me to think so...
it also takes away from the meaning that people like spike and cordelia might have in their lives because whatever they do, however they grow to love each other, they'll always be 'consolation prize' to... what? buffy's high school relationship with an older guy? no thx
#like honestly why would she give angel the hope. what can they possibly expect to have in the future#thats what makes it such a good and angsty relationship!#it was established in iwry that it would not work if angel was human. cool. so their only option is sexless codependent angst#at constant risk of angel losing his soul at any time. bc it wasnt sex it was HAPPINESS. angel lost his soul post sex because he was happy#content in her arms. so by definition they can never be happy together. sux for angel but i dont want that for buffy#anyway#spuffy#anti bangel#again just in case. wild to love a ship so much but also b against it happening. im complex like that#btvs#btvs thoughts#like the only way for it to happen would be for angel to lose his soul and then fight for his soul the way spike did.#which soulless angel would never do. its impossible by design

one thing I dislike is the sophomoric idea that society should, naturally, move towards a completely genderless model. I get where it's coming from, but it assumes an impossible level of homogeneity rather than accepting that - in the infinity of genders that DO and WILL exist - there are some which will take familiar forms and patterns and names.
Like, look, I don't live in the androgynous future ze're imaging. But if I did I would still feel alienated and out-of-place in a slightly different way from the way I felt growing up under gendered capitalism. Because I'm not genderless, and I know damn well that I'd still feel some calling to change... something about myself. Even without words like "woman" or "witch."
It's a nice dream. it might be comforting to some. But it seems like an airy fantasy to me, and not one I can see myself living in.
Obviously I agree that the barriers between genders need to be broken down. Obviously I don't think the traditional gender roles as our society sells them to us are working. But the future I see has more kinds of people and not less.
#random musings#this came up in a zine i read the other night#i mean obviously i won't live to see the hypothetical gender-free future but#i dunno it didn't work out so well in tengoku daimakyou#just trying to keep the kids ignorant of concepts like sex and gender#i can't imagine that if humans stay essentially the same type of creature (they're extremely varied!!!) they'll be able to abandon this ide#gender is a fuck#if it's something that's imposed on you from without#but for some folks#gender is something you can't give up no matter what#not a rational or a logical thing but something deeply tied to identity in a way that can't be cleanly separated#this fantasy then simply supposes that these people are wrong and would naturally fall in line if society simply âforgotâ about gender#which i do not agree with. i think new genders will still crop up even if the public is ignorant of the whole concept#even without words or images or examples to express it the idea will come back#unless humans become a very very different type of creature#but that's neither here nor there - we're still talking about human society#so what - should these folks just suffer silently in a different type of society? seems a bit counterintuitive#(personally i'm of the opinion that there are at least as many genders as there are people - but probably more)

#idk i think the episode would have worked better in a future season so we can first have a more serious episode abt racism#and the doctor's experience without bringing it up for basically the first time in this era as a twist ending#and i know that Gatwa was still busy on Sex Education and couldn't be a lead in every episode but it feels wrong to not center the dr here#and a continued problem i have with doctor who is whenever they bring up real world discrimination and not just Scifi Allegory#they seem to either a) have it be dismissed without a discussion (The Shakespeare Code) or#b) make it so over the top that it doesn't actually feel connected to the real world (which happened a few times with 13 and misogyny iirc)#idk maybe i'm just complaining abt nothing. other people seemed to like it more#dw negativity#i guess#my posts#dw spoilers

ANY GIRL by Mia Döring
âAny Girl is a ferociously honest, intensely tender and utterly unforgettable book that is as thought-provoking as it is timely.â
BODY SHELL GIRLÂ by Rose Hunter
âBody Shell Girl is incredible. It is a captivating and honest account of a womanâs experiences, thoughts, and feelings in the sex trade.â â Cherry Smiley
The Sex Economy by Monica OâConnor
Drawing on extensive research, OâConnor challenges the idea that the sale of womenâs bodies as commodities is acceptable and that men have a right to buy sexual acts from another person. She shows that âsex workâ is not a lucrative occupation for impoverished women and girls, and exposes the harm that normalising the sex trade does on womenâs lives, gender equality and society as a whole.
Being and Being Bought by Kajsa Ekis Ekman
âThis is a riveting analysis of prostitution and surrogacy that shatters the great wall of lies about these two institutions. Brilliantly analyzing the parallels, Kajsa Ekis Ekman wages a multi-pronged attack on sexism and classism that leaves the reader with hope for change.â Melissa Farley, PhD.
See:Â A brief history of the âSex work is workâ movement
Paid For: My Journey Through Prostitution by Rachel Moran
âThe best work by anyone on prostitution ever, Rachel Moranâs Paid For fuses the memoiristâs lived poignancy with the philosopherâs conceptual sophistication. The result is riveting, compelling, incontestable. Impossible to put down. This book provides all anyone needs to know about the reality of prostitution in moving, insightful prose that engages and disposes of every argument ever raised in its favor.â Catharine A. MacKinnon
Last Girl First! Prostitution at the intersection of sex, race & class-based oppressions
A study into how all over the world and throughout history, women and girls from the most discriminated communities are over-represented in prostitution. Poor, Indigenous, migrant, asylum-seeking, displaced women, those from the lowest castes and from ethnic, religious and racial minorities are the first victims of pimps and sex buyer
Pimp State: Sex, money and the future of equality by Kat Banyard
Skilfully weaving together first-hand investigation, interviews and the latest research, Pimp State powerfully argues that sex trade myth-makers will find themselves on the wrong side of history.
Prostitution Narratives: Stories of Survival in the Sex Trade edited by Melinda Tankard Reist and Caroline Norma
This book documents the reality of prostitution through the lived experience of women who have survived it.
Exit! by Grizelda Grootboom
Grizelda Grootboomâs life was dramatically changed when she was gang raped at the age of nine by teenagers in her township. Her story starts there. It is a story about the cycle of poverty, family abandonment, dislocation and survival in the streets of Cape Town. She reveals the seedy and often demonised life of a prostitute and her ultimate escape from it.

Shadowâs Law: The True Story of a Swedish Detective Inspector Fighting Prostitution by Simon HĂ€ggström
Detective inspector Simon HÀggström is head of the Stockholm Police Prostitution Unit. He tells the true stories of the people he meets every day; young girls facing dangers they did not foresee, seven foreign women working and living together in a one bedroom apartment, Lovisa, born into a life of drugs and prostitution, and of course, the men who buy sex.
Not a choice, Not a job by Janice G Raymond

The Pimping of Prostitution: Abolishing the Sex Work Myth by Julie Bindel

The Nordic Model by Trine Rogg Korsvik and Ane StÞ
In this book, feminists activists write about their enduring struggle for the abolition of prostitution. The authors offer valuable insights into the movementâs strategies, as well as its allies and opponents. The book unmasks the pro-prostitution lobby and confronts the myth that the Nordic model is harmful to women in prostitution.
River of Flesh and Other Stories edited by Ruchira Gupta
Twenty-one stories about trafficked and prostituted women by some of Indiaâs most celebrated writers: Amrita Pritam, Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay, Indira Goswami, Ismat Chughtai, J. P. Das, Kamala Das, Kamleshwar, Krishan Chander, Munshi Premchand, Nabendu Ghosh, Qurratulain Hyder, Saadat Hasan Manto and Siddique Alam, among others.
Not for Sale: Feminists resisting prostitution and pornography edited by Christine Stark and Rebecca Whisnant
This collection of essays connect feminist perspectives on the sex industry with radical critiques of racism, poverty, militarism, and unbridled corporate capitalism, and shows how the harms of prostitution and pornography are amplified by modern technologies.
The Natashas: Inside the new global sex trade by Victor Malarek
Theyâre the third most profitable black market commodity, after illegal weapons and drugs. They are women and girls, some as young as 12. They are sold into prostitution and kept enslaved; those who resist are beaten, raped, and sometimes killed as examples. In many cases, the men who should be rescuing them âfrom immigration officials to police officers and international peacekeepers â are among their aggressors.
The Johns: Sex for sale and the men who buy it by Victor Malarek
This book dispels the myths that justify prostitution and puts on display the rationales of ordinary johns, their beliefs, their behaviours, and their astounding brotherhood. It also shows us the darker side: the rise of sex tourism, the predators, the role of the Internet. Lambasting the pro-prostitution lobby, he explains why legalising prostitution can lead only to the greater enslavement of women.
The Industrial Vagina by Sheila Jeffreys
âThis is an insightful analysis into the globalization and industrialization of the modern sex industry. Sheila Jeffreys makes the connections between prostitution, marriage, pornography, strip clubs, and sex tourism and how they all combine to exploit women who are most harmed. This book opens a window on global sexual exploitation and the institutions that support it.â Janice G. Raymond
The Idea of Prostitution by Sheila Jeffreys
This book investigates the claims of the pro-prostitution movement and the burgeoning sex industry, arguing that the sex of prostitution is not just sex; the work of prostitution is not ordinary work; and prostitution is a choice for the men who abuse rather than for the prostituted women.
See The Idea of Prostitution: Q&A with Sheila Jeffreys and Rose Hunter.
And Life Continues: Sex Trafficking and My Journey to Freedom by Wendy Barnes
Wendy Barnes was introduced to sex trafficking by her first love, the father of her children. And Life Continues is her story: how she became a victim of human trafficking, why she was unable to leave the man who enslaved her for fifteen years, and the obstacles she overcame to heal and rebuild her life after she was rescued.
Pornography
Pornland: How porn has hijacked our sexuality by Gail Dines
âDines brilliantly exposes pornâs economics, pervasiveness, and impact with scholarship as impeccable as her tone is reasonable. This book will change your life. Ignore it at your peril.â Robin Morgan
He Chose Porn Over Me edited by Melinda Tankard Reist
âShattering the popular myth that porn is harmless, the personal accounts of 25 brave women in âHe Chose Porn over Meâ reveal the real-life trauma experienced by women at the hands of their porn-consuming partners â men who were supposed to care for them.â

Getting Off: Pornography and the End of Masculinity by Robert Jensen
In our culture, porn makes the man. So argues Robert Jensen in Getting Off: Pornography and the End of Masculinity. Jensenâs treatise begins with a simple demand: âBe a man.â It ends with a defiant response: âI chose to struggle to be a human being.â The journey from masculinity to humanity is found in the candid and intelligent exploration of pornâs devastating role in defining masculinity. You can download a free PDF of this book from Robert Jensenâs website.

By and for men
The End of Patriarchy: Radical Feminism for Men by Robert Jensen
âThe End of Patriarchy asks one key question: what do we need to create stable and decent human communities that can thrive in a sustainable relationship with the larger living world? Robert Jensenâs answer is feminism and a critique of patriarchy. He calls for a radical feminist challenge to institutionalized male dominance; an uncompromising rejection of menâs assertion of a right to control womenâs sexuality; and a demand for an end to the violence and coercion that are at the heart of all systems of domination and subordination. The End of Patriarchy makes a powerful argument that a socially just society requires no less than a radical feminist overhaul of the dominant patriarchal structures.â
The Macho Paradox: Why some men hurt women and how all men can help by Jackson Katz
âWith integrity and courage, Jackson Katz  has taken his message â that the epidemic of violence against women is a menâs issue â into athletic terms, the military and frat houses across the country. His book explains carefully and convincingly why â and how â men can become part of the solution, and work with women to build a world in which everyone is safer.â Michael Kimmel.
Sex dolls
Sex Dolls, Robots, and Woman Hating by Caitlin Roper
âSex Dolls, Robots and Woman Hating exposes the inherent misogyny in the trade in sex dolls and robots modelled on the bodies of women and girls for menâs unlimited sexual use. From doll owners enacting violence and torture on their dolls, men choosing their dolls over their wives, dolls made in the likeness of specific women and the production of child sex abuse dolls, sex dolls and robots pose a serious threat to the status of women and girls.â
The Macho Paradox: Why some men hurt women and how all men can help by Jackson Katz
âWith integrity and courage, Jackson Katz  has taken his message â that the epidemic of violence against women is a menâs issue â into athletic terms, the military and frat houses across the country. just remembered that terfs are on my dnf so y'all should block @/dworkinenthusiast for not respecting women's boundaries and also naming herself after the fucking worst"feminist" I've ever encountered
#I have personal beef with Dworkin#her views on sex work are horribly demeaning towards women who have been involved in it#there's a quote from her literally saying that women who have been sex workers will never be whole again#that's some Christian purity culture ''you're a rose with no petals for your future husband'' bullshit

i read fantine's descent for the first time last night - i had fallen behind on les mis by 10 days so i read it all in one go when i was meant to be going to sleep, and at several points i just had to Stop and stare across my dark bedroom at the mirror and the faint outline of my face lit up by my ipad and just Breathe for a second.
the thing i found most interesting while reading it was just how horrifying it was. as mentioned in the post i just reblogged, fantine had to choose every single time to carve herself away, to give up more and more of herself until she was unrecognisable, and she did it all out of hope and love for her daughter who she doesn't even know was being mistreated, that all her sacrifice was doing was lining thernardier's pockets while cosette still suffered.
and that would be interesting enough as is, but the thing that struck me the most while reading is how all of the actual horror of fantine's fate is stripped from her in adaptations (or at least in the musical/movie) in favour of the lurid idea of her having to go into sex work. the book itself treats fantine going into sex work as another tragic loss on effectively the same level as cutting off her hair, learning how to live in winter with no heat nor light, losing her modest lodgings for an uncomfortable attic with no bedding, her persistent illness or removing her front teeth â it's, "Let us sell what is left!" â what's one more loss on top of everything else, right?
(one could even make an argument that the tooth removal was treated as the most horrifying part of fantine's descent - it certainly was for me, as someone who had two wisdom teeth removed recently! the imagery of her bloody smile with the hole where her front teeth should be lit up by candlelight is definitely one that's going to haunt me.)
but in adaptations, we don't see that slow chipping away of personhood, of identity, of belongings and comfort. it's kicked out of the workhouse - hair cut off - prostitute - dead. bamatabois is changed from an arrogant, wealthy asshole with nothing better to do with his time than torment those less fortunate than him for the crime of merely existing to a potential customer who gets angry when fantine turns him down. by adding that dynamic to their interaction it softens bamatabois' cruelty, makes it less about an act of completely unprovoked dehumanisation and, well, cruelty against someone vulnerable that was answered by that person snapping and lashing out.
bamatabois in the book did not just target fantine because she was a sex worker, but also because her hair was cut, because she had no front teeth, because of how she dressed, how she behaved - in short, she was an acceptable target.
it feels as though the people adapting the novel don't understand that the tragedy and horror of fantine's fate was not the fact that she had to sell sex for money, but the fact that she had to give up everything of herself to the point where she was an unrecognisable wretch drinking brandy to keep the misery at bay with the only thing keeping her alive being her love for cosette. even the tooth removal, when it is adapted, is changed to her back teeth, making fantine's loss less visible and more palatable, and is oft ignored in favour of focusing on fantine's work as a sex worker in a way the book never does, not realising that the sex work was a symptom, not the disease.
#les mis#meta#les mis letters#trying to word the bits about bamatabois without making it sound like i think fantine in any way deserved it was so hard#my brain ain't 100% online so i really hope i worded it properly#anyone should be able to say no to sex regardless of who they are or what their job is#but the dynamic as an observer changes when there is no interaction beforehand to an active conversation before the precipitating event#and that dynamic change is one that reduces the cruelty of bamatabois' actions#anyway petition for filmmakers/musical makers to learn how to write about someone being driven to sex work#WITHOUT the sex work being the focus of the tragedy of their circumstances#lovely ladies is a banger but it misses the point of fantine imo#and i get part of it is shortcuts need to be made in favour of fitting things into the time given#but ehhh#could be done better in future#andie reads books

Iâm very much in the gmmtv should split all their ships camp but joongdunk are an exception as well for me. They have such a fun dynamic with each other even in the bts and interviews that it would sadden me to see them separated. Iâd also worry for their productivity, even Tee said for Hidden Agenda whenever they were apart theyâd start sulking đ
right!!!!! i actually rewatched the hidden agenda special ep where tee talked about that only a few days ago. them being sulky when they can't work together is just so cute and wholesome!! and you know what?? relatable djfkgjkfdgd (my best friend and went to this summer camp for like a decade, first as participants and then as leaders. and back as participants we spent 4 out of 5 years sitting at the same table at every single meal and usually right next to each other, even. then when we became leaders we had to split up, bc every table was required to have at least one leader. idk about her, but i was definitely sulky that we couldn't sit at the same table for the 4 years we were leaders. and towards the end of the camp, the more tired we got the more we ended up sitting at the same table anyway lmao. and again, idk about her but even the other activities and tasks that we had to do were always more fun when i was allowed to work with her. so. i absolutely 1000000000% get the boys)
that being said, me personally? i wouldn't necessarily be sad for them if they don't get to work together. they're grown-ass men and they are perfectly capable to function without the other. and they can always hang out and talk outside of work (if dunk picks up his phone when joong calls or joong manages to get dunk out of the house, that is kjdfkjdfgk)
will i be absolutely stoked if they get another series together? hell yeah!!!!!! (dark sexy vampire fantasy bl for joongdunk when???????)
but not gonna lie, purely from an acting standpoint i'd actually love to see them work separately at some point. especially dunk. he works extremely well with joong and i'm super curious if he manages some of the things i've come to adore about his acting when it's with someone else (whether it's another male co-star or someone of another gender)
not just that, another reason why i want to see them act with other people is because different acting partners can bring out different things with you because you'll have a different dynamic, a different way or working and interacting with all of them. and that can also help you grow as an actor, because you can take away something different from every partner you work with. and that is something that i would want for them, also
(plus, i wouldn't want them to get bored of doing series together. absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that, you know? i think it'll be more exciting for them if they do go off to work on separate projects and reunite every once in a while. i wouldn't want their joint projects to become like... a habit, i guess. i'm not sure how to phrase what i'm trying to say)
so either way, whether they'll get a series together or work on separate projects, i'll be satisfied. as long as i get to see both of them on my screen next year in some way (preferably as a lead)
the absolute best case scenario would actually be two projects per boy: they do one bl project together (hi dark sexy vampire fantasy bl) and one separately. unfortunately i'm never going to get this, though
#asks#anon#adrm#joongdunk#sexy joongdunk vampire bl#tbh even if they do only get separate projects next year... i can't imagine that this is the end of them as a branded pair tbh#i mean offgun are still up and running and they've had plenty of separate projects since they started as a pair with puppy honey#joongdunk clearly enjoy working together so i don't think hidden agenda will be the last of them even if they don't get a series in 2024#i feel like they'd totally be up for doing more series together in future years even if it's not in 2024#also i feel like they'd totally be up for doing a series like only friends together?? i REALLY wanna see them in an ofts-type of series ngl#and i want them to switch up the dynamics!!!!! let dunk be the quiet/calm one and let joong be a puppy!!!!! please!!!!!!!! i am BEGGING you#also i can't believe my asexual and kinda sex-repulsed leaning ass is actively asking for a sexy vampire series lmao#this is what joongdunk are doing to me send help
