people are always so eager to jump on the season 4 debbie hate train and be like “i miss the old debbie!! what happened to her?” but like… have you considered everything she had been through? especially in the previous season. in season 3 alone she endured an immense amount of trauma and it’s just devastating.
like, remember how frank left and she waited and fucking counted down and prayed for him to come back every day, and then he comes back and treats her like actual dog shit, then smashes the project she had been telling him all about and asking him to help her with and brushes it off as “a piece of shit, anyway”. not to mention all of the ruthless bullies. oh- actually, people love to talk about the 3x02 scene, and while i do too, you know what fucked her up even more? foster care. frank calls child protective services on his own children, and debbie, who’s already panicking, finds out that for the first time in her entire life she will be separated from her family- she will be all alone (her biggest fear). and then, her fears regarding loneliness are validated when she’s put in an abusive home where she is basically starved, and when she miraculously gets out, they have to go to family court. and the siblings testify, and debbie and carl both end up testifying that frank is a spectacular father. oh, and guess what? her mother gives up parental rights; she officially, legally, abandons debbie. then, lip graduates, they may be moving away, then they aren’t moving and jimmy-steve leaves, and then, ian runs away.
she was twelve. do you know how much that all would fuck up a twelve year old?? all of that within a few months. i didn’t even mention everything that happened to her, too. and don’t even get me started on s1-2. so yeah, forgive her if she snaps and forgive her if she isn’t a precious little girl anymore; if you really miss season 1 debbie that much start placing blame on everyone who failed her- which is basically every character. you don’t start acting out like that out of nowhere, there’s always a reason, and those reasons are named frank, monica, and eventually fiona, too.

This is not a profession for men who make mistakes.
--Well-Manicured Man, The X-Files, 3x02
A brilliant line, due to it being very simple yet very intriguing. I imagine that this statement would also apply to certain women in the DoE galaxy. It sounds like something that Ming would say of the henchmen who let Amy's foster mother live in This Is Their Side Story, thereby allowing her to warn Amy of the pending attack (I'd advise them not to face Ming's wrath). It might also be something that Damian Dark would say of his own daughter, Veena, who was captured by Tori Gordon in the little side scene I wrote.
Plenty of intriguing scenarios.

My whole life, I’ve wanted to be bad. (To be bad, to be bad, to bad.) [...] However, now I know a certain beau who doesn’t worry ‘bout what’s decent or right. (That’s you!)

Nathaniel could come off as a really one-note character, but Scott Michael Foster does a really good job humanizing him so that you don’t just hate him all the time.

4, 5, 10 for the aos asks :)
thank you for asking!
4 - Favorite Scenes
May doing quick work of Russo and his agents, then strolling on the bus covered in blood like it's just another Tuesday (1x13)
Daisy's confrontation with Ward in the diner in Nothing Personal. The follow-up on the Bus, too.
Daisy meeting Cal for the first time and everything with them in that episode. (2x10)
Terrigenesis #1
Jiaying teaching Daisy to move the mountain. (2x17)
"I'm the guy who kills Gordon"
Daisy entering the frame in her then new superhero outfit in 3x01 while her theme plays.
"You did good, Tremors. You did good" (3x02)
Andrew and May in Hawaii, before everything went wrong.
Simmons pleading with Fitz to "just let [Hydra] kill her" to make sure "It" could not return from Maveth.
The Spy's goodbye for Huntingbird.
Daisy's power exit from the Playground in 3x17 (very cathartic to watch after... things).
Mack hugging Daisy after Lash had freed her from Hive.
Robbie and Daisy meeting for the first time and of course immediately fighting because that's the rule when superheroes meet for the first time, in case anyone had forgotten it's a comic book show 😁
Robbie telling Gabe the story of the Rider while Daisy is there for him, a silent comforting presence.
Skimmons' very special way of discerning humans from robots and planning their escape. (4x15)
Daisy making scrap parts out of LMDs. (4x15)
Daisy refusing the illusion of happiness Aida offers her (and the sassing that precedes it). (4x18)
Terrigenesis #2 (the first one is fantastic, but Trip dies and she's terrified. This one, she's smirking, welcomes it and May made it happen. It can hardly get better).
Coulson making the speech on tv in the Framework. The revolution is televised, after all.🤭
Robbie hanging out with Daisy while she's working to build a backdoor for Mackelena in the Framework: "But I'm here now and that's good" -- "That is good" 😍
"This must be the coolest we've ever looked" (5x01)
May cutting through the BS, destroying the odium (worst. plan. ever) and probably saving the world.
Mack hugging Daisy after she's back from the Search for Fitz.
Director Macklemore 😂
Sousa: "Some of my favorite people are people like you" Me: high five, Chief!
All the May&Daisy hugs, all the Coulson&Daisy hugs, all the Mack&Daisy hugs.
Most of the fights and most of the sass.
5 - Favorite Quotes:
"With great power comes...a ton of weird crap you are not prepared to deal with"
"Usually, one person doesn't have the solution. But 100 people with 1% of the solution? That'll get it done. I think that's beautiful. Pieces solving a puzzle."
"Being different can mean making a difference"
"Fight back. That's how you move on. Take control of your life again."
"[the end justifies the means, right?] The only people who say that are the people doing bad things."
10 - Favorite Headcanons:
Popular Daisy fanons, like running away from the foster system and the Russian hacker being a girl.
Coulson is a foodie (but that's pretty much canon). Mackelena are the best cooks alongside Coulson. Robbie is also pretty good in the kitchen. May isn't that bad, really. It's just that when she makes food, it is usually for practical purposes, something you need to do to survive, not for fun and pleasure. So, it's just kind of bland and uninspired.
At some point, Daisy visited Italy again without anything bad happening to her and had a nice time (this is important to me, ok 😁).
One of Daisy's favorite album growing up was American Idiot by Green Day.
Both her and May are cat people. They may not know it or think so, but I can tell.
Elena has a scrapbook of caricatures of all her teammates and more serious portraits as well. Because she was taking or teaching art classes and the show kind of forgot but I didn't.
Inhumans, having been genetically engineered to be weapons, have, to different degrees, a physical advantage over the average human and are more resilient. Because Daisy walks off beatings and hits that should put her out of commission for a while and sometimes it bothers me. Also, that's how it is in the comics so 🤷‍♀️
Daisy always keeps a tight hold on the full scope of her powers, especially so after Hive, and it takes extreme circumstances for her to consciously loosen it.
The reason for the prolonged fight vs Malick wasn't just stalling for #TeamEmpathy. Daisy was using his quakes to charge herself up for extra mojo in order to destroy the fleet. Like in 4x08, when she had all that energy built up from absorbing the earthquakes and had to jump high up in the sky to discharge it safely. This time she did it on purpose and discharged it...unsafely (I mean, maybe that's what they were going for in canon, but if it was, it's not very clear is it?)
Flint finally ate tacos and discovered they are way too spicy for him (they were eating pellets in the lighthouse, I'm thinking those were kinda bland and tasteless), much to Mack's dismay. He falls in love with various types of risotto instead.

Hello hello!
4. Allison = Paige reincarnated
This honestly started from the very basic conversation piece in 1x01 when Allison asks Jackson if basketball is the sport of Beacon Hills. As we know, Derek was on the b-ball team and just like that my brain twisted the wires together. There's a lot of elements in this one I'm still undecided on, such as if Paige should save Allison or if when Allison goes to save Lydia she /knows/ she's going to die but there's nothing to be done about it. It would be Dallison endgame, with Allison and Paige both learning about Derek and Paige seeing how far he's strayed (think Allison's confrontation in 3x02 and her slight rage at "turning teenagers into killers," that is partly Paige talking there). I'm also not sure how aware of the reincarnation I want Allison to be, whether she is fully aware or if her saying/doing things reminds Derek of Paige too much to be coincidence - or maybe even Peter is the one to recognize certain patterns. It would also explain why Allison bounced around with so many hobbies and was so self conscious about them, because Paige isn't used to current day stuff and isn't sure how well she's fitting in.
23. 5+1 Malia learning about Allison
This one came in part from talking to @scribeoffate over on discord! I don't remember what prompted it but I had a very sudden thought about how Malia learned about Allison and what she was told. Which led to Jenn pointing out it would make a good 5+1 fic. By 4x01 she doesn't question who Allison is when they're discussing Kate and her "psychotic bitch" aunt, which leads me to believe that the pack told Malia at least /something/ about Allison. So far I've gotten as far as the order she talks to people:
1 - Stiles, but he's somewhat closed off and radiating such strong Guilt chemo signals that it's too overwhelming for her
2 - Kira, because she's also less ingrained in the group but Malia finds out Kira didn't actually get to know too much about Allison in the short time they knew each other; the entire time they were a bit distracted by keeping Stiles alive
3 - Scott, because Malia knows from Stiles that Scallison was a thing, but she also can't help being softer with him because of the trust they've fostered - he's the one who turned her back, after all, the one who has been teaching her how to stay human. But just as Stiles was virtually choking her with Guilt, Scott has an overwhelming amount of Grief and Malia feels it's too close to her own that she doesn't pry
4 - Noah and Melissa together, because an adult figure outside of the core pack may provide better insight, and they tells her about how /normal/ Allison was; not an insult but a reminder that they're all still just teenagers trying to survive, and he tells her about their conversation in the elevator, not the specifics but just the fact that a literal teenager was so devoted to her friends that she was more concerned about that than living an actual life of her own, away from the supernatural. Melissa talks about Allison as her son's gf and how she was so impactful on Scott, but she didn't know Allison all that well personally.
5 - Lydia, who Malia has struggled to get a read on, who Malia is unsure if she even wants her in the pack. Lydia breaks down at one point and Malia tries to assure her that she straight up doesn't care about the image Lydia is trying to project but Lydia screams, not maliciously but because she can't contain it, and Malia backs off which leads to their tension and distance during season 4. They're strained but functional, Malia out of her depth on what to do in terms of empathy and Lydia still just overwhelmed and refusing to let anyone else get close enough to her.
+1 - Malia asks Chris after the Deadpool is done. He is surprised, but glad because others have been walking on eggshells around him. He had time away from it all to process, time to sort through his feelings at least a little bit, and they talk over coffee.

So what did you think of episode two, the first fully Carina free episode?
Hey nonnie, I'm going to reply to this ask under the cut to spare my mutuals from having to read my negative thoughts and feelings on this episode lol
I really didn't like it. I think more so just because it is a Carina free episode and though I didn't expect it to blow me out of the water, I did think the problematic storylines would cease and potential would be shown on fixing the mishaps (character's actions and behaviors) from season 2. That looks even less likely to happen now after seeing 3x02 and now there's no Carina excuse, it's just the RNM writer's room.
I have no idea what the game plan is for this Wyatt/Rosa storyline but so far it just looks like RNM is white washing Wyatt's past behaviors which included murdering Liz (she only came back to life because Max was there), beating the sh*t out of Arturo and making his life a living hell for 10 years and perpetuating a racist/white supremacist ideology which at the time, the show was purposefully showcasing as a negative. To make it clear to the audience Wyatt Long is a bad man. Now RNM has decided to wipe all of that away with a memory loss injection, and having Rosa potentially even seeking a romance with Wyatt or at the very least, have her feeling bad because she was the one to erase his memories... It's so unbelievably unacceptable on so many levels. Again, I don't know what the point of this narrative is, but if it is what it looks like, I'm not going to feel morally or ethically comfortable watching this show anymore. It's just WAY too much on top of an already problematic season 2 that made me and a lot of people (LGBTQ+ especially) feel like sh*t.
If anyone has any theories on what the f*ck RNM is doing with this Wyatt narrative that doesn't make this show look even worse, please send them my way. I really need to hear why I should give RNM the benefit of the doubt at this point.
In the other areas of the episode, the writing is still bad even with Carina gone. Having monumental character reveal moments all in one episode without any buildup to it? If Michael can't have fire burn him, why not bring this up before? Also, I'm pretty sure he had past foster parents that literally burned some religious sh*t on his skin when he was a kid, am I remembering this wrong? That doesn't really make sense with the whole "fire can't burn him" thing. The dialogue was really cringe. Alex saying "talk about a crash landing" or something in the Crash down when his cup fell over or Kyle's "ring ring" thing I mean... It's not good. Maybe I'm the only one to think so but yeah, it's giving me Riverdale vibes.
I don't like Alex being separated from everyone. I knew he was going to be a part of Deep Sky but I also thought he'd be in contact with the others through out it. I don't care about Deep Sky, I mean I do, it's just hard to care about it right now when the relationships and friendships are still left to the wayside and very much in need of re-building. I wish they could have held out on that until the foundation of the character's were fixed first. Plus, 3x02 is yet another episode of where Alex's disability is still invisible. There was even a moment where Tyler just flat out forgot he's not suppose to wiggle his foot. I mean, it's just ridiculous at this point. I'm really disappointed in there still not being representation for Alex's physical and mental disabilities.
I didn't like Isobel being on board with Jones's more than likely ugly lies about Nora and Louise. I didn't like Maria still being written to be allowed to be a selfish assh*le and everyone just being cool with it. I didn't like Michael being the one to save her and then telling Max he hate's him less now because he "spent the day keeping Maria in one piece". Once again, Miluca still has not been established as dead for Michael. And on top of it, not one single Malex mention.
I am happy Liz is back in Roswell and she's not giving this Heath guy special treatment of her time. She's needs to be back to get this ball rolling on the show and I hope she stays there permanently. I liked seeing the pod squad's planet. I hope we get to see more of it. I liked the MIB moment with Alex in the waiting room.
Annndd that's about it for what I liked about 3x02 lol.
I don't want to ruin anyone's good time here, that's why this is under a cut. If you enjoyed the episode and you're reading this, don't take in my comments about it. This is just what how I felt about the episode, you don't need to share these same thoughts and feelings. We're all on this season 3 RNM rollercoaster, some of us just might get nauseous on the ride ✌

I think people are shitting on Roman because they thought that since he partnered with Gerri he would begin to behave differently. Or atleast learn from his siblings mistakes, but obviously they haven’t been paying attention cuz Logan has been teaching them all to behave this way since they were kids. It’s kinda sad tho, I mean normally children grow to have their siblings back when their parents are wrong and the Roys don’t really do that. They are stuck fighting like kids for daddy’s attention, playing right into Logan’s hand of pitting them against each other it makes me yell at my screen lol
Interesting. I mean, if anything, partnering with Gerri would encourage this kind of behaviour in the sense that she paid him what I believe Roman would consider the highest compliment two episodes ago which is calling him a Logan copy, she named him COO, she told him not to go with Kendall in 3x02 so it's not that she would encourage bad behaviour but I think she encourages and fosters confidence in Roman, which then leads to moments like what happened at Kendall's birthday after he does something right.
And I mean, I think what's interesting about the Roys is that they do constantly fight each other for Logan's attention but they also protect each other from Logan at the same time. Roman protected Shiv in 3x02, Roman refused to engage in helping Kendall in 3x03, etc. etc. it just can never be the only thing they do.

3x02: How to Survive in South Central
We open this episode with Layla getting dressed in Spencer’s room. They’re acting all couple-y and talk about spending senior year apart.
Spencer is ready to get back into the school groove, ready to start Senior year. He meets up with Coop and they walk to class. He’s greeted with a hug from Patience, and claps from his classmates. All except from one. One who is blaming him for Crenshaw loosing the state championship.
I am loving Olivia’s first day of school outfit. She encourages Asher to rejoin the football team. Layla introduces Olivia to Vanessa Montez, who is the new football coaches daughter. The coach is a woman which is obviously amazing except for the fact that JJ thinks she’s hot. What is it with high school boys fantasizing about female teachers? (Side note: she’s from the Fosters!). Asher asks Coach Montez if he can be back on the team since it’s a new season and he’s clean, but she says no.
Vanessa knows Asher from a presumed summer fling. The flashback just starts before the commercial break.
Preach meets Mo and WAIT THEY USED TO BE TOGETHER WHAT THE FUCK WHAT WHAAAAAATTTTTT.
At Beverly, JJ and Jordan are battling it out for QB and over at Crenshaw, the same thing is happening with Chris and Darnell. Billy asks Spencer on who he thinks should be starting QB since he knows them better than anyone. Billy also decided to donate his salary to the football program.
It’s suspected that Layla’s dad took Patience’s song and gave it to another artist which is why Patience left, and why Coop suspects Layla was stealing from her. Good news for Jordan, he earned QB1 and JJ congratulates him genuinely. Over at Crenshaw, Billy chooses Chris to be starting QB, leaving Darnell upset and irritated. Darnell thinks that Spencer put in a good word for Chris, which is why he got the position, but in reality, Spencer put in a good word for Darnell.
Turns out, Olivia went to surprise Asher in Mexico, but saw him with Vanessa. Obviously, Asher has no idea and she would like to keep it that way. Spencer asks Billy why he ignored his advice, and he says the team is already comfortable with Chris.
You guys! The ending *chefs kiss*. If this show doesn’t warm your heart, I don’t know what does.
Until next week!
