I know the decision to have Julian's parents have him augmented was made on the fly but imo its pretty obvious from early on that Julian has Family Issues because he avoids talking about his family like the plague and I think they should've incorporated this into the Julian and Sisko dynamic right from early on because I think it would've made for some really compelling stories and moments and could've set up a REALLY interesting Julian and Jake dynamic which they kinda started to do but never fully went for
#star trek: ds9#julian bashir#benjamin sisko#jake sisko#s1 Julian being so young and eager to prove himself and latching onto Sisko as this mentor figure to look up to#seeing Sisko with Jake and low-key seeking that fatherly figure connection which he won't even let himself think about#Sisko seeing this young brilliant doctor who's got all the makings to be something great and he's just GOTTA help him along#I think he would also catch on pretty quick that Julian's got Parental Issues#he tries to ask one day all casual like 'tell me about yourself :)' and Julian talks about nothing but Starfleet and med school#any attempts to ask about his family are met with awkward brief answers and redirections#and then theres the way Julian's eyes light up the first time Sisko invites him to watch a baseball game#like he Knows. he's a dad he Knows somethings up#but he doesnt pry#I also think it makes their dynamic more tragic towards the end of the series#where we have Sisko asking Julian to compromise his morals again and again#Julian's trust and respect for him gradually deteriorating#and then at the end of course Sisko is gone and they have no idea when he'll be back#which I think Julian would have a lot of complicated feelings about#but of course theres also Jake#I imagine they'd get closer#very brotherly dynamic#you know that scene in TNG where Wesley goes to Riker for girl advice and Riker and Guinan start flirting?#absolutely happens but with Jake asking Julian for girl advice and Julian wooing a girl at Quark's and Jake absolutely loses the plot#makes the events of ...Nor the Battle to the Strong more intense as well I think#also I like to think there'd be an episode where the B plot is Jake gets mad at Sisko and impulsively decides to move out#ends up at Julian's because he did not think this through#Julian is now very much caught in the middle of this family drama and he Fucking Hates It#also him and Jake are NOT compatible roommates but he's trying so so hard to be nice#eventually they have a talk and Julian cryptically hints at his own home life and tells Jake he's lucky he has a dad who cares so much#them being closer would work into what Alone Together sets up for them

[ if any of you ever thought eden is smooth when she tries to flirt or rizz her lover / crush, then please think again. sure, she has her moment of being on her A-game but that only happened once in a blue moon & majority of the time you get a space raccoon trying to kabedon your muse and staring at them dead in the eyes until they get the idea that she wanted to be bitten by them or vice versa. ]

why is everyone pretending like cyberpunk edgerunners is good. the writing is so bad i hate it
#i'm rewatching it for the third time 😋#i remember seeing a post i think from demilypyro abt how 2077 was a shitty game that everyone forgot how bad it was because of the anime#and the anime is terrible#all of the reviews online call the ending sad but it's literally just 🧍‍♂️ okay so. big whoop.#which would've been great for like to explore the futility of doing jack shit in this world bc it can be taken from you like that#they did a good job of this in the first 6 episodes before the timeskip#but the timeskip ruins everything#and u have to balance how unsatisfying that kind of thing is w the reality of that's just how it is#but NO#it's SAD because EVERYONE DIED#we didn't get a chance to slow down with the characters and get an update post timeskip#and the timeskip negates everything interesting about lucy (my fave 4evr)#and it changes her from a strong independent character that's scary good at her job because she was a lab baby and trained since birth and#an archetype of character i like in cyberpunk (a character that looks sexy without sexualising themself or getting sexualized by others)#(and in context most people wear something similarly revealing regardless of gender or presentation and modesty is the outlier)#wait i take that back she does flirt with david in her introduction scene. but i think it was done tastefully to show that she's confident#in herself and her abilities. and not in like an i'm hot do what i want way. we see her in the same episode being genuine and vulnerable#on multiple occasions. and then it reveals she was just buying time for her group to ambush him#she's a really interesting and cool character guys i swear#but the timeskip takes that and turns her into a stay at home expecting mother damsel in distress wanting to settle down and start a family#and the domesticity is so disturbing bc its like. i guess she wants to leave the edgerunner life behind to live on the moon.#BUT THAT'S SO MUCH DIFFERENT THAN WHAT THEY DID HERE#she doesn't pass the bechdel test anymore suddenly. who is she#they mischaracterised my blorbo so bad#it's like their writing budget got slashed mid show.

It's the. "Everyone knows he's gay but he'll never admit it and the more he denies it the more obvious it becomes" x "doesn't even own a closet and knows it" for me.

empires s1 jausage for the aro ship bingo?
Tumblr media
Oh wow I haven’t watched empires s1 in so long. Compared to season 2 I see them more as a enemies to friends. But it definitely gives me the vibes off “maybe in another universe we’re better together” and whether or not that’s romantic or not is up to you. I really need to look back at season 1 now lol.

and what the more nuanced opinions about s*yloy?
censoring the ship name 💀 ive been trying to avoid all the post-burning shores drama that seems to be happening in the horizon fandom... ive seen some Nasty stuff getting thrown around and im not just talking about the usual gamer-homophobes (those im unfortunately used to by now)
i think overall theyre cute!! their relationship in this dlc is about how aloy is Truly evolving to accept people into her life on a Deep and Personal level. and i am NOT saying that she doesnt also care deeply for her current cast of friends (i think she might even have Feelings for some of them shes not letting herself be aware of (and im talking since ZD)). but its established in forbidden west that aloy has trouble connecting to people on that deep level, and she more often slips off into the night on her own than choosing to stick by them long term. she cares for them, she'll always help them, but something seems to keep scaring her off
the end of the dlc has aloy saying the idea of a home and tribe has always scared her since she grew up so disconnected from the nora. her development throughout FW (although i had issues with the writing and pacing of it) is about her putting down those walls and Truly letting people into her life. and seyka, being so similar to herself in so many ways yet having a positive relationship with her tribe, is kind of the perfect storm for this new aloy. her feelings are new and clumsy and she stumbles over herself. she doesnt always seem as cool and collected as she usually is and it sometimes seems to even throw her off. its cute!
i dont necessarily have any problem with Them. my problems more so were related to the execution of the writing and pacing of the dlc as a whole. and those problems stem back to the writing and pacing problems ive had since forbidden west... they just kinda got caught in the crossfire a bit (as did some of the FW companions when i first played through but have since warmed up to more). i went back and rewatched my friends stream of it and i found myself less frustrated than i was when we first went through it, but there were still a few moments here and there (between them and in the overarching plot in general) that just made me go 🤨 the execution was messy or weak or strange at times but again thats not just a dlc problem for me. i can at least appreciate the intention of what they were Trying to do with aloy and seyka. and as a plus they hit a number of tropes i really like
i think what bothered me more was the way guerrilla marketed her? its weird because they boasted about how "special and unique" she was when i feel she shares a lot of qualities that aloys other companions also have (down to c-cast characters like ikrie and nakoa). like.. i LIKE all of these characters for these similar qualities! it was just weirdly disrespectful to their own cast? i dont think that was their intention but it was... interesting
especially since i believe this experience with seyka is Massively important for aloy moving forward in regards to her relationships. aloy at the end of the dlc after her time with seyka is Completely Ready to accept what her idea of "home" is, and she realizes thats the connections shes made with the people around her. i really hope seyka gets to escape the dlc and join up with the cast in Horizon 3 (i was already disappointed when ikrie didnt make a reappearance). but since the dlc ended in flashpoints where you could accept or reject her, i Definitely believe this implementation will return in Horizon 3 with our cast of companions (not every aloy chose to kiss seyka so some aloys are returning to base single (but seemingly ready to mingle)). in the past when these flashpoints have come up (like with avad in both ZD and FW) aloy always seems resistant in some way even if you Do choose the heart option. but seyka is evidence that aloy really IS ready for that level of commitment post-BS. and since these are still choices tied to flashpoints, your aloy can do whatever she wants! the point is that regardless of any romance, shes ready to accept her friends as her Tribe

Bloody Hearts Bingo Day 21
Prompt: Awesome, Romance | Watching their love interest turn into a creature of the night and still being attracted to them
It seemed that every day they fought, Ichigo learned new depths the Shinigami were willing to sink to or new levels of blindness that the half-decent Gotei officers could pretend to. The bargain for time had been accepted, but these days he and his friends were sent out more and more on their own, with less and less supplies. Part of it, he knew, was the limits on both personell and avaliable supplies in general- the whole Gotei was on a bit of rationing, and there always seemed to be a need for more people everywhere, especially with steadily mounting casualty counts and injured who needed time to recover. The other part, of course, was the combined facts that Central 46 did not want to depend on ryoka but could not order them killed outright and the fact that few people wanted to fight alongside them anymore.
Ichigo was well aware that the changes Urahara had made stood out in combat- he'd made sure they could live well, but he was making them into beings who could survive, and in their world that meant being able to fight well. He understood that people feared differences, and seeing what seemed to be teenagers turn into 'monsters' and rip into walls of enemies was a shock at the best of times.
But he couldn't see why everybody was so upset. He thought his friends (girlfriend! boyfriends! He still couldn't believe it some days) looked amazing, coming ever-more into themselves with every change that slid forwards. Yes, they were monstrous, but there was beauty in that, beauty that it seemed none of the Shinigami could see.
Chad was the most blatant- one arm of crystal, the other of bone, always impossible to miss. He stayed wherever the fighting was thickest, breaking up attempted formations and pummeling any who dared step close to whatever he happened to be protecting at the moment. The safest place to be for a breather was right behind Chad, because nothing ever got past his shields. He was the immovable rock in the river, the mountain that kept rain away from a desert, the great canyon that ensured none could cross.
Orihime, in his eyes, was the most beautiful. The others had their grace, their strenght, but in pure visual appeal, Orihime would win. Her scales shone in the moonlight, gleaming blue and orange as she kept her fairies moving- Tsubaki flying forwards like fire out of the dragons of old, the other fairies flitting in and out of formations faster than he could keep track of in combat, her indomitable will driving back the natural order of things as she imposed her reality on the crumbling structure of the old. The front lines were defined by Orihime, all things orbiting around her, and in the depths of things, when horns twisted up out of her hair and power glassed the sand around them, Ichigo couldn't fathom not seeing her as beautiful.
Uryuu was the most subtle of them all, though that said little when considering the sheer explosive power the others brought to bear. He was hardly weak, but it was true that his techniques demonstrated the kind of precision that still left Ichigo's knees weak if he thought on it for too long. It showed in his form, too- stretched long and thin, spindly and draped in threads of shadow and light, just human-looking enough to set off every threat response. It had scared off even the quintet of Third Seats when they'd run into him in a dim room, but Ichigo loved the blatant predatory hints even as Uryuu laid more needles through the space around their enemies, laying traps to send them to their doom.
Ichigo was well aware of his own changes. He and his Zangetsu slid closer and closer every day they fought, blending their edges together. Few remembered that Quincy preyed on Hollows just as much as Hollows preyed on Quincy, though the veneer of civility did much to hide the viciousness. And Vasto Lorde were above even predators, deigning not to fight instead of remaining out of fights in an intricate calculation of energy expenditure versus hunger. He was both, balanced by the flexible straighforwardness of the Shinigami, violence in every cell of his body honed to a killing edge by Urahara's clever hands.
For now, Ichigo would love his partners and fight in the war. The Shinigami would learn to fear them sooner or later. All the rest wasn't his concern.

i’m sorry but how am i not supposed to develop at the very least a casual crush on a pretty man who, when flirtily asked if he’d message me, replied by saying that he would, ~pause… when he needed something from me, and winked

◟♡ ˒ ʾʾ how to fake date with fake boyfriend!athlete sukuna .ᐣ very much limited experience.
fake boyfriend!athlete sukuna, who agreed with his teammates – get a girlfriend before the season’s over. he just didn’t expect to want more than just the win.
he just needs to dodge some girl who’s been aggressively flirting with him, and you need an excuse to avoid a creepy dude who won’t stop texting you.
“we’ll fake date," sukuna proposes with that cocky smirk. “it’s not like we’ll catch feelings or anything.”
“are you sure? i don’t want that creep to bother me for the 56th time this week.”
“trust me, sunshine.”
fake boyfriend!athlete sukuna, who would take the acting slow but convincingly. he would start with holding your hands publicly while telling his dry jokes to you so all the people would believe him.
fake boyfriend!athlete sukuna, who would brushing his thumb over your hand. he’d play it cool — but the way his hand tightened in yours would give him away.
“it’s all for the show,” he would say.
but the way your fingers intertwine with his says otherwise.
“does it really have to be like this?”
fake boyfriend!athlete sukuna, who would would wrap one of your hair ties or bracelets around his wrist during every game, claiming it’s his ‘lucky charm.’ if you ever ask about it, he’ll say, “worked last time, didn’t it?”
fake boyfriend!athlete sukuna, who constantly reminds himself that you’re just friends — even when his heart races every time you smile at him.
err . . . you’re just a good friend to him.
fake boyfriend!athlete sukuna, who would slowly realize how pretty and captivating you are. from the way your eyes stare at his when you ramble about your day to him to the way your lips seem to soft while you speak, he just wants to feel how soft it is.
when you mentioned liking someone else, he would sit beside you, fists curling at his sides. his face would stay blank, but his voice would darken. “he better not disappoint you.”
fake boyfriend!athlete sukuna who think you deserve better than that trashy guy you mentioned. and he’s the best.
fake boyfriend athlete!sukuna who would sneak you into his team’s closed practice.
fake boyfriend!athlete sukuna, who always reserves the spot next to him — bus rides, team meals, wherever. if anyone tries to sit down, they’ll be greeted with a warning glare and clipped, “taken.”
fake boyfriend athlete!sukuna who would raise an eyebrow when you suggest to have a matching phone charms with him – just for fun. but he’II just shrug it off and let you pick which one you like.
when you actually really get him a matching phone charm, and even though it’s small and kind of cutesy, he’d attach it to his phone without hesitation.
front and center in the team’s photo, fake boyfriend athlete!sukuna’s fake girlfriend’s bracelet is right there on his wrist, and his matching phone charm would peeks out of his pocket proudly. if you say anything, he’ll just chuckle.
fake boyfriend athlete!sukuna who would take you out on a date to keep up on the act. but the way his thumb brushes your knuckles? that doesn’t feel fake. the way he’II hold your hand with him and place it in his pocket? doesn’t sound too fake either.
fake boyfriend athlete!sukuna who would using you as an excuse.
“can’t go out tonight — my girlfriend doesn’t allow me.”
oh, you both know that’s a massive lie.
fake boyfriend!athlete sukuna, who would carry your bag since it seems to heavy for you. (even when it’s not, for certain times.)
fake boyfriend athlete!sukuna who would feel if he will loses a game or feels like he underperformed, he’ll drag you to the gym late at evening or night, you call it.
sweat drips down his forehead as he sinks another shot. “49,” you call out. sukuna’s breathing is ragged, but he looks at you sitting there, waiting — and that’s all he needs to finish strong.
after the 50th shot, sukuna collapses on the floor, chest heaving. you walk over and drop down next to him, brushing damp hair from his forehead. he doesn’t say anything, but his hand finds yours.
gasps and shouts would fill the gym when the members saw you wearing sukuna’s jersey. “since when?” someone demands. fake boyfriend athlete!sukuna kisses your temple. “since they’re mine.”
fake boyfriend!athlete sukuna, who never shows it, but he does get nervous before big games.
he won’t say it outright, but you’ll catch him squeezing your hand a little tighter or resting his forehead against yours.
you later then would give your hair tie to him, telling that it’II be a silly “good luck” charm for him.
fake boyfriend!athlete sukuna who would open his wallet before his game begin, revealing a polaroid of you wearing his jersey number under the sunlight. he suddenly needs to be remember who he’s playing for.
he would spot you the second he steps onto the court. his eyes would narrow slightly, that nervous, yet cocky smirk tugging at his lips when you catch his gaze.
if he makes a shot, he’d turn toward you, wiping sweat from his brow and flashing you a knowing grin — like you’re the only one he’s playing for.
when his team scores, he would glance at you in the stands, lifting his chin as if to say, did you see that, sunshine?
if you cheer for him, his smirk would deepen, and you’d catch the subtle way he straightens up — fueled by the fact that you’re watching. if you smile or wave at him, he’d bite back a grin before turning back toward the game.
fake boyfriend!athlete sukuna, who would exclaimed energizedly as his team scores.
sukuna would walk straight toward you, ignoring his teammates’ cheers, would grab your wrist and pull you close, sweat-slick and breathless. “i told you, you’re my good luck charm," he’d murmur before brushing his thumb across your jaw.
fake boyfriend!athlete sukuna, who doesn’t care how sweaty he is — he will hug you immediately after his games.
“miss me?” he’ll question, pressing a kiss to your temple while you complain about how gross he is. “you’re smelling like rotten eggs with outdated pickles.”
you give him a playful judgemental look.
he just laughs warming-ly – except his teammates eyeing him up and down for noticing how soft he has been with you.
