Now that I finished Veilguard, I know who I plan to Romance next, but I am trying to decide if I want to watch the other 5 romances on YouTube or not.
#personal#dragon age veilguard#im also super excited to be able to read the fanfic#i Romanced Taash for my first playthrough because they are amazing and beautiful and strong and so cool!#i want to romance Davrin next because he was so adorable and cute and strong in the exercise cutscene with Taash.#him crouching on their back as tassh did pushups cemented him as my next choice. Hes also like 100% in on caring for Assan and that was <3#Lace is still extrem adorable and lovely and super cute in the end game parts#but i flirted with her for the whole time before we got Taash so i kinda feel like ive already done the first half of her romance#so i might prefer YouTube since the game takes so long to complete and i dont have very much time to game anymore

every once in a while i download a fresh browser and don't install any addons just to see what the raw internet is like, and whoo boy, it's rough out there.
this time i installed fresh google chrome since i haven't used it in forever. i played their little game and setup their built-in privacy settings, and even flipped on their ad personalization and preference switches. i raw-dogged it like that for a few hours, then installed a manifest v3-compliant ad-blocker to see how those are progressing.
impressions after a few hours:
â chrome's ad privacy options and all that jazz actually do seem to cater a lot of ads to stuff i'd actually want to see. doesn't help the websites that completely fill your screen up with ads and overlays, though.
â on that note, holy shit. banners on top of banners with videos in the corner and newsletter signup requests sliding down from the top of the screen... are there really still people who browse the web like this? when i see a site that has basic little ads in non-intrusive spaces, i almost feel bad because they're trying to do it right, and getting their ad revenue cut by the ad-blockers people always have on to cut out all the insane stuff other sites do.
â youtube is... strange. i get ads on the front page, but haven't gotten a single in-video ad yet. i don't know if there's some sort of grace period on a new install, or if they serve you less ads if you're using chrome. even after installing an ad-blocker, i left it disabled on youtube just to see how long it would be until i got an in-video ad, and still haven't gotten one after hours of auto-play in the background. for comparison, i booted up edge and got an in-video ad about three videos in. strange.
â the manifest v3 version of ublock origin (ubo lite) seems to work pretty well, even on basic settings. using it in edge, it seems to work for youtube as well, though you have to crank the slider all the way to the right and give it the extra permissions. the only thing missing is the element zapper - not sure if that will ever be doable in mv3. there seem to be less filter lists to choose from than in normal ubo, but i haven't noticed anything slipping by lite's filters. i did maybe notice some differences in cosmetic filtering (like when it removes the blank space where an ad would be) but i don't know if that's another mv3 limitation, or was just because i was mostly using the "basic" filtering setting for most sites.
*******
trailing off...
i've been using firefox for a while now and i almost hate how snappy chrome seems in comparison. i had to fiddle with about:config in firefox forever just to get scrolling to feel good, and even more to "soup it up" to the point where it was fully taking advantage of my rig. in chrome i can flip a few flags in chrome://flags and achieve similar results in less than 5 minutes.
the difference in loading times on youtube have been noticeable - i'm not sure if the conspiracy that google is slowing things down for other browsers is true, or if it's a firefox issue, or a little bit of both. i did notice a slight stutter when loading videos in edge, but it's also getting bloated as hell at this point, and still wasn't as noticeable as firefox.
digressing way off the original point of the post... it just makes me clench my fist that the only major alternative browser outside of the chromium-based monopoly still seems behind. i respect the firefox devs but man, i wish there was more real competition besides them, if for no other reason than to foster innovation through competition.
i'll likely keep using firefox on principle for the time being, but i'll be keeping an eye on how things go as the manifest v3 transition keeps going along. it's already tempting to just pick up a de-googled chromium build from woolyss, but i've already put so much time into tweaking firefox that i might as well stick with it for a bit longer.
if the best ad-blocking and privacy extensions are able to keep their efficacy as mv3 settles in... i dunno. right now, it feels like a lot of people have over-estimated the doom and gloom surrounding mv3, but we'll really just have to wait until the dust settles and see how much security and privacy is really lost once the ol' reliable extensions make the migration (or refuse to, or are unable to)

I'm 6 hours into the Pale Beyond on Steam and I'm enjoying it a lot. It's a survival management game where you balance resources and maintaining loyalty. It's got the Terror vibes, since the Franklin Expedition and the Endurance expeditions were direct inspirations. There's a character who I think looks like Cornelius Hickey who's background probably isn't the cleanest, and the doctor has Goodsir vibes. Someone says 'this place wants us dead'. The characters and narrative are intriguing. Also you get to pet dogs (I have a bad feeling about this).
It's difficult to not reset the game every time you mess up, and the game would prefer you not do that, since you have to restart the entire week. It's not just because of a more beneficial choice, but I also don't want to upset the characters.
Speaking of the characters, I did not expect to get attached this much. Even though you mostly interact with the specialists, the majority of them are given enough characterization to make them stand out. It should be quite easy getting a good/neutral response once you have a grasp on their personalities, generally just respect them and don't pry too much. Just do what they want you to do or find a neutral point.
Moving onto resource management. The most common resource you'll get is food, but besides eating, you also have to burn them for warmth. It's not hard to keep the crew happy so far, so you could alternate between half rations and half heat each week and be fine, which is what I should've done. If people get sick, there are ways to immediately heal them, or if you don't want to waste resources, send them to the doctor and they'll be fine next week. But it's still a hard choice if you like the characters as much as I do.
There are some bugs, like resource cards turning black when I click them even though I can add more and a few letters extending far beyond my screen (might not be wide screen optimized yet). I also experienced a loading problem besides the game screen popping out. It's not a huge issue (or I'm just used to Fallout New Vegas), and devs are fixing them.
Even if you're not a Terror fan, give it a go if you like narrative-driven strategy games with an interesting cast and brilliant art style.
SPOILERS up to Act 2, maybe beyond!
I have a tendency to spoil endings for myself. I didn't watch any youtube videos, but I did go on the steam forums and read some reviews. But first:
I thought Templeton was definitely going to stab me in the back somehow (judging from one reviewer), but up till now he's just being pragmatic and giving sound advice, if not a little suspicious. It's not hard to get on his good side. And wow, the plant metaphor really suits him! Please don't stab me in the back.
Grimley, on the other hand... it's ok if you don't completely trust me, but you don't have to sing about it to everyone, especially if we're going to be stuck together for a long time. Seriously, everyone is loyal to me but him. What the hell do I have to do to make him at least tolerate me? Cool song though.
I knew Hammond was going to fight someone sooner or later. Great work ethic borderlining on obsessive, but if I tell him to take a break he'll be pissed. Hopefully with Timmy helping, he'll worry less. Nice sense of humour.
Kurt is fine, surprisingly not that arrogant for a celeb. He's definitely insecure about his age and use of a cane hindering his ability to help, but he's still knowledgeable.
Junior is more sociable and receptive, but I'm still suspicious of him, considering his closeness to Captain Hunt and his brother.
Kasha is nice and super helpful for morale. It's great that she warms up to the crew, especially Arthur and Kurt.
Speaking of warming up (heh), Arthur's relatable with his social anxiety and need to be reassured. He does start bonding with the others. Besides that, there's Cordell with her love of singing and theatre and dogs.
The character development is amazing. The most heartbreaking part for now is when all the characters say they might not make it back and tell you to look after their family/tell their family etc.
Other memorable characters include science couple, science gun guy, Thomas Blanky vibes, the gymnast, and Timmy and his da. Also Grips who told me was in the military (because I picked colonial).
Leave the ship a week after announced, before dinner.
Get the medical supplies for the expanded bed space, one set of digging tools, and the guns to get more food and defend against the seal asap. Use the shotgun if you don't wanna die!
Don't hesitate because you want to please both characters.
Theory:
The expedition is funded by the canned peach company. (Huh. Tins.) Templeton and most of the science staff are botanists. Why would you need botanists in the cold?
Captain Hunt said something like 'if I don't take this then others will'. Then he got drunk and left. It's definitely related to the expedition.
On the forums and in the achievements, I saw something about a 'tree' and 'fruit'.
The Viscount went to look for the Tree five years ago and vanished. The peach company hears about this and wants to find the tree and make money off the fruits, or the fruits are magical somehow and they want to exploit it. They organize the expedition in the name of finding the Viscount and send Templeton and the scientists to study the Tree. Hunt hears this somewhere, doesn't agree. He takes the job, deliberately choosing the path so we would get stuck in the ice, ignoring Kurt's advice. He sets off with some trusted crew members and leaves to find the Tree so we don't get to it. The rescue ship is to bring the harvested fruits back.

Sleepless Nights
Corpse Husband x Reader (Female)
Warnings: None
Genre: FLUFF, Comfort, RPF (Real Person Fic)
Summary: During an unusually windy night, Y/N finds herself unable to sleep while her boyfriend is streaming in the other room, unaware of the terror revving outside thanks to his headphones. So, Y/N does the only thing she can in order to finally get some shuteye.
Requested by Anon. Hi dear! Thank you so much for your request, I had such a blast writing it! Iâm so sorry it has taken me so long to complete and post it but here it finally is and I hope youâve stuck around long enough to read it! If you have, please enjoy the read! Love, Vy â€
Itâs that time of year again - the city is terrorized by the loudest, most intense winds that wield the strength of a mythological creature and sound like the wails of hellâs sufferers. You may find my description of this natural occurrence rather dramatic and over the top but thatâs because you arenât here to hear and see this horror show going on. Trees have been uprooted from the ground and have fallen on top of cars, damaging them expensively. Chimneys all around are whistling hauntingly as the gusts of wind pass through them, the sound sending shivers down my spine.
Winds have never sat right with me and I often found myself lacking shuteye during the night if they were wilding outside while I tried to sleep even as a kid. My parents thought Iâd grow out of it as the years went by but I never did apparently, seeing as how Iâm wide awake at close to 2AM on a workday. I have to be at work by eight in the morning and if I donât catch some zâs soon I might just show up looking like a zombie.
This is not the first time such an occurrence has happened. However, on those past occurrences, I wasnât alone in bed, twisting and turning under the covers so I could extinguish the sound thatâs violating my head. On those occasions, I had someone lying in bed next to me with his arms wrapped around me tightly or with his hands covering my ears. That person isnât with me right now though. Heâs in a room two doors away, streaming Among Us with his friends.
Iâve had Corpse ditch streams to comforting me during anxiety-inducing windstorms like this one but I can only assume he cannot hear what is going on outside since I havenât heard a single word from him. Of course, comforting me isnât his job and Iâm not the type of girlfriend to be clingy and in need of her boyfriend to be there for her 24/7. Quite the contrary actually - Iâm independent and rarely ask for peopleâs help, Corpseâs included. However, thereâs one thing I need help with and this is it - falling asleep at a time like this. Thatâs a task I cannot manage on my own.
And so, against my better judgement and putting aside my embarrassment surrounding my fear, I kick the covers off me and get up, stretching my arms above my head as I walk out of the bedroom Corpse and I share and into the hallway which is pitch black as the rest of the apartment. The only light is coming from underneath the door to Corpseâs recording room but even that is so faint I can only guess itâs coming from his computer screen.
With an uneasy sigh, I make my way down the hall, flinching when a particularly strong gust of wind rattles the windows. This apartment building is old makes noises of its own on the regular, the last thing it needs is these attacks itâs now forced to endure because the weather outside is crappy as all hell. Take an already noisy building and pelt it with gusts of wind, yeah that equals a sleepless night for me.
The recording room door isnât shut all the way as usual. Corpse prefers keeping it open a crack so he can enter and exit it without making noise in the middle of the night as to not wake me up, seeing as how Iâm quite a light sleeper. It also allows me to enter and exit it soundlessly whenever I want to either bring him a snack or spook him. Thereâs no in-between: I either bring him something to eat/drink, or I scare the daylight out of him. The latter usually happens when heâs playing a horror game though so itâs rare which is why he hasnât started shutting the door as to be alerted of my schemes before I give him a mini heart attack.
And so, I tip-toe my way in his recording room, squinting my eyes when Iâm faced with the beaming computer screen opposite the door though itâs partially blocked by the hunched over Corpse who is still unaware of my presence. So, in order to avoid freaking him out, I deliver a couple of soft but audible enough knocks to the door frame to grab his attention. My attempt proves successful as I see him yank off his headset and whirl around in his chair to face me.
âAm I being too loud?â Even in the dark, I can make out the lines of his face contorting into an expression of guilt.
I give him a lopsided smile as I strut over to him with lazy steps. Just as I part my lips to speak, a strong gust of wind shakes the building, producing a wailing-like sound that immediately forces me to freeze up, the smile disappearing from my face.
Corpseâs face shifts expressions again, this time exhibiting a compassionate, comforting smile, âThatâs what it is, isnât it? You canât sleep?â I shake my head, biting my lip as I feel my cheeks heat up. âCome here.â He mutters, opening his arms invitingly.
Without a single doubt, I come closer, not putting up a fight when he pulls me into his lap. I let my legs hang off either side of his hips, wrapping my arms around his neck as I hide my face in the crook of his neck breathing in his scent mixed with the cologne that has lingered on his hoodie and hair.
âWait a sec...â he mumbles, pulling away from me briefly. Iâm confused for a second, but then I feel the pair of wireless headphones he covers my ears with and I give him a grateful smile, already feeling myself beginning to relax at the warmth of his body against mine and the soothing comfort of his touch. However, when the lo-fi music starts playing through my headphones - a playlist heâs complied for me whenever I have sleepless nights such as these for whatever reason - Iâm a complete goner.
And so I find myself drifting off with the mixed sounds of lo-fi beats, Corpseâs whispers and his heartbeat and honestly, not to be cheesy or anything, but Iâve never heard a sweeter lullaby in all my life.

TUMBLR WRITERS Q&A
Thank you for tagging me, @chaoticgeminate, youâre lovely.
Imma put it under a cut and say everyoneâs tagged!
1) How many complete fics/one shots do you have that you have not published (yet)?
Nones!
2) How many WIPS do you have right now?
Losing My Religion, Branded, Locksmith Series, Sweets Series, Good Things Take Time, and Iâll Never Fall In Love Again. So 6? Plus one I started and dunno if Iâm gonna post.
3) Do you take writing requests or write original ideas, or both?
I generally do not take requests. Sometimes something might strike me a certain way, and I work off asks for Pats, but if someone asks me to write them a story, my brain does not like to take a request and run with it as is. It likes to flip it over and turn it inside out and...itâs just not good at giving people what they ask for. So I stick to just making stuff up on my own.
4) If you do take requests, how many do you currently have?
I have upward of 30 Pats asks at the moment...
5) How many fandoms do you write for?
Just Pedro at the moment.
6) Are there any fandoms you wrote for in the past that you no longer write for?
Yes.
7) Do you write for ships, reader inserts or other?
I like reader characters. With the first fics I wrote, they were ships. But when I came back to writing, I was dabbling in OC third persons. I meant to come on here and do that...and then realized how much I liked reading reader inserts. Decided to take that on as a challenge. And I enjoyed it so I never looked back.
8) Niche fandoms/characters you write for?
Within the Pedroâverse? Like, a wine commercial and a weird sci-fi tv show where you never see is face?
9) Do you read fics as well as write them?
Absolutely.
10) What is your favorite genre to write for?
Romance, slow burn.
11) What is your favorite trope (to read/write)?
In many ways, my fic are all kind of soulmate-lite; soulmates without the supernatural (or with it, just different, like Branded). They are pairings that were always meant to fit together at just the right time and feel to me like soulmates. For reading? I love the sex pollen, a/b/o, and monsterfucking. And soulmates.
12) What do you do to get motivated to write?
Light a smelly candle, get comfy, open my laptop. Sometimes just starting to type helps...like filling out an ask game!
13) Is there a trope/genre you like to read, but not write?
Well, I donât write sex pollen, a/b/o, or monsterfucking. But that doesnât mean Iâm not ready to try....
14) Any characters/fandoms you want to write for that are never requested?
I mean, I donât take requests but for a follower celebration here or there. But I like it when people ask for Jack. I like getting to write him in short bursts.
15) How long have you been writing fanfiction?
On and off since I was in college.
16) Did you read fanfiction before you started writing?
Absolutely.
17) Do you only post on Tumblr, or any other sites as well?
AO3!
18) What do you personally consider the word counts of âDrabbleâ, âOne shotsâ and âficsâ?
Drabbleâs maybe 500 words or less? One shot is more than that? Fic is any and all.
19) Which do you prefer to write more? HC, drabbles, oneshots/fics, multi chapter stories, other?
Iâve become a big fan of the multi-chapters.
20) Are there any stories you have discontinued? If so, why?
No. I know I let some of them sit idle. But I still love them. I just get NRE with new boys and get distracted.
21) What is one of your main âpet-peevesâ as a writer on Tumblr?
Anon hate. Ainât no reason for that. Just be nice please. Pedro would frown on troll behavior.
22) Do you write at a particular time of day?
Night. Specifically after SO goes to sleep. And weekends if the house is quiet.
23) Do you listen to music, ambiance/noise, etc. to write or do you need silence?
With some fics I use ambient sounds from Youtube. But lately my characters have been in quiet, domestic settings, so silence has been fine.
24) Do you outline your fics at all before writing?
Not particularily. I open a Google doc and write a synopsis. Sometimes I add thoughts or snatches of dialogue I donât want to forget to add. Sometimes I start writing on the second page of that doc and reference the synopses and notes as I go, deleting what Iâve used, and anything I donât use, I copy and paste into a doc for the next chapter.Â
25) Do you post your writing as soon as you finish it, or do you schedule it to come out at a specific time/day?
I generally post as soon as I finish (and by âfinish,â I mean after a couple of drafts and some polishing up). Sometimes Iâll take the time to get it all up into a draft and formatted and let it sit for a day or two, but thatâs generally because Iâm waiting for my queue to thin out...

European Super League Is Everything You Hate About Modern Sports
âA wolf should be beaten first, so that the other wolves will smell itâs blood and know what might happen to them and so never come againâ-Â The Heart Gently Weeps by Wu-Tang

I donât talk about soccer/football much on this blog. I mostly save that for Flex Files TV and this is a topic weâve talked about on our Youtube channel.
On Saturday the 17th of April, a news story broke that the top teams in European football were planning to break away and start their own competition to replace the annually contested UEFA Championâs League.
They essentially want to eliminate the little guy. They are essentially trying to monopolize the sport and divide the pie amongst only the elite teams in European football.
The teams named as co-conspirators in this treason are AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus FC, FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool FC, Arsenal FC, Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur.Â
What do I believe should be done?
First and foremost, there must be punishment. Severe punishment.
I want FIFA, UEFA and all the worldâs top football associations to collaborate and crush this act of greed, insolence and rebellion. I want them to do what parents used to do back in the day. Which is just lay in the cut and wait until you watching tv or sleeping, and then proceed to hand out beat downs.
A three year transfer ban for all the teams involved would do the trick. A lot of the teams named have ageing squads so forcing them to sit three seasons with the same players, would teach them a lesson and restore the balance of power in each of the various leagues they play in.Â
Then you need to limit their exposure by giving them live television broadcast times that are out of left field. Want to watch Real Madrid live in the three next years? Prepare to stay up until 1AM at the earliest.Â
Another way is to start opening the avenues for players to do business ventures independently of the clubs that they play for. This would change the business landscape but would hurt the big clubs the most, especially at the beginning. Youâd also likely have to talk to jersey manufacturers like Nike and Adidas to implement it well but all youâd be doing is creating a revenue stream that the clubs wonât be allowed to share in.
If you think about it, corona virus is a perfect excuse to hit the big teams live game attendance as well. Big teams draw bigger crowds donât they? Shouldnât there be heavier restrictions on them because of this? Start limiting how many fans the likes of Liverpool and City can have in their venues. Only you allow the smaller clubs to sell more tickets to the same fans. So the likes of Leicester City, Napoli FC, Valencia can sell more tickets because they donât have the same capacity but theyâre selling to more fans than they would otherwise.Â
You get the drift. Start hitting them where it hurts. Start taking away the things that allowed them to become the major conglomerates theyâve become.
Heads have got to roll, gentleman. Preferably roll on to the end of a pike that should be placed at the entrance of every football venue, for fans in attendance to throw rotting vegetables at.
I grew up with this sport. The idea that some owners in suits and ties, living in the ivory towers somewhere, think that they have the right to alter and change this game because they can and because their greedy enough to do it, is a low-down, dirty, filthy, shame.
What should be happening is a mob-justice, French Revolution style ting but the veneer of civility, modernity and money, allow people to get away with things.
Let me address Manchester United, before I jet.

Iâve rooted for this team since I was 13 and you know, this team hasnât given me much to celebrate lately. We were once a symbol of excellence. We were once the standard bearers of the entire sport. We were once the most revered football culture in the world.
Now look at us.
Docile. Greedy. Incompetent. Scheming, Backstabbing. Manipulative.Â
We once stood front and center of the sport. The one team you could always trust to raise the bar in a big game.Â
Now weâre defined by boardroom meetings where guys with bald spots try to influence and bend an entire sport to their will, and our ownership is right there trying to do the same thing.
The Glazer family are the worst thing that ever happened to Man United. Their influence is the single biggest thing behind Manchester United becoming the annual, season-long comedy show weâve turned in to. I wasnât surprised at all that we were involved. Our ownership are not high integrity people and it shows in how they run the football club.Â
Make no mistake the Glazers are the failsons of football ownership. The team they inherited (they bought the club in the 00âČs) was in such a great place as far as on-field results and they have completely wasted it away. One dumb executive decision and coaching hire after another.Â
See anyone can buy a football club. Believe it or not, there is no shortage of people who would be willing to take on the financial risk of a team like Man United, especially when you look at how commercially viable the team already is and how many revenue streams they have built over the last three decades.
Billionaires have pulled off the trick of making you think they are special. Theyâre not.
This is what this once-great sporting institution has devolved into. An abomination/golem slowly devouring itself and now clutching at everything else around it, including the league that helped make them the television draw that they are and the money theyâve made along with it.Â
Former Manchester United right-back and now Sky Sports pundit/presenter, Gary Neville, had a heartfelt speech live on-air on Saturday afternoon that definitely put my feelings across.Â

Mutual Feelings
Jeon Jungkook x Reader
Summary: Jungkook is nervous because you havenât told him you love him; you have an important question for him. Genre: fluff Notes: Part of the Long Term Couples series. Read more here

If, last year, someone had asked Jungkook if he was cool with being in a relationship with someone who seemed physically resistant to saying the words âI love youâ in a meaningful way, he would have said absolutely not. Jungkookâs a patient man, but even he has limits. He likes to feel solid in his relationships, likes to not have any questions left on the table. He thinks heâs an open book, and he likes his partners to be the same way.
When he let those three words slip out not even a month into your relationship, he had mentally kicked himself. He had thought it was too soon, but he was trying to reassure you and they had tumbled out of his fat mouth before he could stop them. As it turned out, he hadnât stopped saying them since.
You, on the other hand, had somehow gone from the cheerful âI love youâs whispered between friends to not saying it at all, not even after he had said it, and not ever since. He had grown so used to them during your six years of friendship that going six months without felt a little empty.
You werenât ready. It was a big step for you, and he understood. He just wished he knew if there was any way for him to help you want to take that step. That, coupled with the fact that intimacy beyond kissing was off the table meant that Jungkook was more unsure in this relationship than he had ever been before.
This was all so new. Heâd had girlfriends in the past, but in the years of knowing you, heâd never heard you talk about anyone significant in your life. He wasnât sure if youâd never dated anyone, or if youâd never dated anyone that mattered, but at this point, he wasnât sure that was important. Your friendship meant the world to himâyou meant the world to himâand he was just so worried about losing that.
So he was second guessing himself constantly. Was he wrong to tell you he loved you so soon? Did he make a mistake in assuming you would want to see him both at work and at home every day? Had he been too forward when he drunkenly asked you out? Not forward enough the next day when you confronted him about it? Did he make enough time for you? Was he letting you know how he felt often enough, or was he smothering you?
Jungkook had thought that he had known you so well back when you were still just friends, but now⊠he had trouble reading you. He supposed that it was because you wouldnât outright tell him how you felt.
Although, it wasnât like you didnât love him. Hearing the words would be nice, but the fact that you didnât say them didnât mean you didnât feel them. And Jungkook definitely felt loved.
He felt it when he pushed himself too hard at rehearsals and performances. Not only were you there to take care of him, you scolded him for not taking care of himself. He knew you appreciated his work ethic and dedication, but the fact that you could hold an ice pack to his neck, pet his hair, and yell at him all at the same time honestly made his heart swell.
And he felt it when he screwed up his heel in London. You were there, distracting him from the pain before the concert, and helping pick him up when it was over. He had been devastated to not be able to perform, to be confined to a chair on stage, but having you dote on him afterwards almost made it better. And while you werenât dating at the time, Jungkook knew that you wouldnât hesitate to do the same thing again, since every time there was even the threat of an injury, you were at his side.
It was there when he had showed up on your doorstep with a dog and you had just gone with it. He had rightfully expected some pushback, but he hadnât quite expected just how quickly you had agreed. He prepared a speech! He had rehearsed that speech the whole way from the pet store to your apartment! But he loved that you trusted him enough to take in his dog, he loved that you were comfortable enough around him to be spontaneous like that, and he loved that, even in just the couple weeks that you had Kimchi, you had fallen in love with the puppy. He may have paid the adoption fees, but you both knew that Kimchi had quickly become your dog.
He felt it when you jumped to defend him, like his own personal knight in shining armor, fighting for his honor. It didnât matter if it was something you saw on Twitter, one of the other guys, or even himselfâyou got heated about it all the same. You had a secret account on almost every social platform just to yell at people on his behalf. You would playfully scold the guys when their teasing got a little too intense. And you always stopped him when he got too down on himself. In fact, you had been the one to first introduce him to the âyou shouldnât be mean to my best friendâ rebuke.
He even felt it in how fiercely competitive you could be. Jungkook loved that you could go from defending him in one breath to threatening to smother him in his sleep in the next. He had gotten you into Overwatch, and he had expanded his gaming repertoire based on your tastes, and honestly he was never happier than he was curled up in bed playing video games with you, and at this point, he was convinced that you felt the same.
It was there in the late night texts you sent him when the two of you spent the night apart, and in the early morning phone calls he received the following morning. It didnât matter if the two of you were in different timezones, you always texted him goodnight. And while he might not always be awake enough to respond, he had started looking forward to those short messages. And then the next morning, he was always happy to answer the phone when you called, even if you woke him up with the call. There was something about your cheerful âgood morning!,â especially if he knew it was three in the afternoon for you.
So while he definitely would prefer to hear you say it, Jungkook supposed that he could wait a little longer, because your actions spoke louder than any words.
He thought about this as he worked, the task of washing that nightâs dinner dishes mindless enough that he could safely let his mind wander without risking too much. You, too, were in your own little world, drying the dishes and bopping around to the music blasting out of the little bluetooth speaker you kept in your kitchen.
Dinner had been tense that night. Not because anything was particularly wrongâor, at least, Jungkook didnât know of anything that was wrongâjust because you seemed incredibly nervous, and he wasnât sure why. But the entire time you helped him cook and while the two of you were sitting in front of the tv watching YouTube videos and eating, he could feel the nervous energy rolling off you. He wanted to ask, but every time it crossed his mind, it didnât seem like a good time.
The song changed, Jungkook smiled at the opening notes to âMy Timeâ wafting out of the speaker. He loved that you loved his music. You grabbed the wet skillet off the counter as you started to hum along, and he watched you out of the corner of his eye. Once it was dry, you placed the skillet on your stoveâyou used it for everything, so he supposed you never saw the need to properly put it away.
You continued to hum as he let the water out of the sink, the dishes finally complete. With a sigh, you tossed your towel down on the counter and leaned against the cabinets below, watching him rinse the last of the bubbles down the drain.
âSo Iâve been thinking.â Jungkook noted the hint of nerves in your voice. âAnd, I mean, youâre totally allowed to say no to this, I just figured Iâd ask-â
âBabe. Breathe,â he joked, flicking some water off his hands in your direction. You giggled, leaning away slightly from his attack. He placed a hand on your hip, tugging slightly and pulling you closer. His other arm snaked around your waist as soon as you were close enough, holding you loosely against his body.
âI was wondering,â you started again, placing your hands on his chest and playing with the soft fabric of his t-shirt. âIf maybe you wanted to move in?â
Jungkook could feel his heart start to pound in his chest. He was sure that you could feel it, being as close as you were. Was this what you were nervous about earlier?
âI mean, youâre over here most of the time, anyway. And Kimchiâs here.â You glanced at the brown and tan dog napping under your breakfast nook. âI know the dormâs convenient, so if you want to leave some stuff there, thatâs fine. But I wanted to offer.â
He couldnât help the goofy smile spreading across his face. Honestly, Jungkook hadnât expected your relationship to move this far this quickly. But he wasnât complaining. At this point, a good majority of his clothes were at your apartmentâhe still had the bag tucked into your closet, but he had also lost count of the number of hoodies and sweatpants and t-shirts he had left here that he just hadnât bothered to take back to the dorm. His laptop was here, his PS4 was here, his dog was here, you were here, and really, thatâs all he needed.
âSure.â He nodded, his eyes meeting yours. You looked happy, which only made his smile grow. He could feel his face start to heat up, and for a second, he felt like a teenager again, confronted by his noona crush. It was weirdâand a little fitting considering the song that was still playingâfor him to realize that he had never had that experience in school. âI would like that a lot.â
âYeah?â Jungkook nodded, his hand covering yours on his chest. âWeâre going to need new furniture.â Your eyes sparkled as you said it, and he couldnât tell if you were joking.
âPlease tell me you didnât just ask me to move in so you had an excuse to get a new couch.â
You hummed, one of your hands tangling in the long hair at the back of his neck. You smiled at himâit was innocent enough, but he could see mischief in it, too. âNot at all.â Your lips brushed against his softly. âBut if we could celebrate the occasion with a new couch, who am I to argue?â
Jungkook laughed and buried his face in the crook of your neck. He felt it then, too, standing there in your kitchen, your arms wrapped tightly around him. You didnât need to say it, not yet at least. He knew.
You loved him. And the feeling was absolutely mutual.

Hello! Can I request hcs for your top 5 favorite characters when they find out their fem s/o vapes/smokes? Have a nice day~đ
I loved writing these ngl. Also I did six because I have no idea how to choose between these guys.Â
Characters: Leona, Ruggie, Floyd, Kalim, Idia, Malleus
Warnings: smoking&vaping, overdramatic teenage boys (leona isnât a teenager, does malleus count?)
Leona:
He didnât peg you to be that kind of person, but there was no doubt that you were vaping
He had smelled the weed on you a few times but didnât comment. It was common for there to be clouds of vape in the bathrooms at school so he figured you had just walked through one
At first he wouldnât comment, but he would watch you do it and keep track of how many times you took a hit and how frequently you pulled your pen out during the day
If he felt like there was nothing serious to worry about then he might let it fly a few times only commenting on how he hated the smell to try and persuade you to do it less often
If he was concerned about the amount of vaping you did, he would probably just steal all your stuff at first to see if you would stop
If that didnât work then he would confront you about it asking why you started and how long youâve been doing it
Itâs unlikely that heâll be super upset about it but he will ask you to stop and provide you with other solutions if needed
He prefers the you that isnât higher than the clouds
After learning more about vaping and the fact that by inhaling toxic metals you could potentially die then he would put up more of a fight
If it got to the point where he was really concerned he might take you to a rehab center just so they could get you to stop (even if you werenât addicted)
Ruggie:
Wait what?! You smoke!!!
He stares in shock as you pull the cigarette away from your mouth and blow out a large puff of smoke
No no no no no no no no!!!!!!!!!
Already running up to you and snatching the cigarette out of your hands
âRuggie!â
Absolutely not. Heâs seen enough people in the slums turn to smoking or that might even be the reason they were in the slums to begin with.Â
He knows the cost. He has seen people die, or get violently sick, or run out of money because they smoke
It is not something heâs gonna watch you go through
Probably gonna yell at you about how awful this is for you before finding all your cigarettes and soaking them before chopping them into little pieces and throwing them away
Heâs got a great sense of smell so if he smells nicotine on you again he would get really upset
Ruggie cares about you a lot but would still most definitely threaten you to get you to stop
If he threatens to end your relationship to that means heâs certainly worried about your health
He doesnât care how you started in the first place he justs wants you to stop
Would totally beg Leona to pay for rehab
Would also totally drag you there
Floyd:
Eh? Whatâs little shrimpy doing?
Has zero clue what a vape is or how it works, but it looks fun let him try it too
Youâre probably hesitant cause he doesnât know what it is and if Azul and Jade found out they might get mad
Heâs gonna try it anyways
Literally has no idea how to use it and probably ends up inhaling his own spit instead
He wants to know how you make clouds with your breath though, and oh! You can make it into shapes!
Definitely gonna ask Azul and his big brother about it
They casually explain what vaping is and what it does. They also tell him that itâs bad for you and he shouldnât try it
âHuh? But little shrimpy does it all the time?â
Que a further explanation and advice on how to help you stop
Heâs gonna pest you about it all the time now
âYou didnât swallow any clouds again today did you?â
âNo Floyd I didnât swallow any cloudsâ
Itâs very easy for him to get you to stop since heâll just squeeze you everytime he catches you doing it
And when he finds your pen he will pick it up and throw it away
Has he seen your vape? Of course not. Why would Floyd know where your cloud machine went?
Every time you get sick he accuses you of vaping too much
âYou wouldnât be stuck in bed all day if you hadnât swallowed so many clouds, shrimpy.â
Kalim:
Immediate panic
âJAMIL!!!!!â
Literally Jamil does not have time for this
Tells him to calm down and just ask you about it
Ok yeah. Kalim can do that. Heâs calm
Heâs not calm
Forgets to ask you about it and instead asks if you wanna go for a ride
Legit takes you to a rehab center and cries at the front desk about you for like 40 min
The people ask you a few questions and determine that no youâre not addicted and tell Kalim that everything is gonna be fine
You are literally so confused right now
When you guys get home he canât stop asking questions and telling you that itâs bad to smoke
Will bribe you to get you to stop
âIâll buy you whatever you want just donât do thatâ
Literally 100x more panicked than any other normal person
âBUT WHAT IF YOU DIE!!!!!!â
Doesnât want to leave your side in case you do it again when heâs not looking
Jamil is 200% done with the dramatics
âListen if you donât stop Iâll actually poison your food. I have a hard enough time dealing with Kalim when he isnât freaking out.â
Between the two of them it would just be easier to stop
Kalim will throw you a party for stopping
Heâs so proud of you
âBaby you make me so proud!â
âKalim sheâs not your daughter *sigh*â - Jamil
âWHAT IF OUR DAUGHTER SMOKES!!!â
Hold up since when did he decide that-
Never mindÂ
Kalim is just a big drama baby and you love him for it
Idia:
Probably doesnât really know what to think about it
On one hand youâre old enough to make your own decisions
On the other hand your decision making skills are obviously not great
Literally spend the next month trying to decide what to do about it
Makes a pros and cons visual board for confronting you about it
Also writes up a list of reactions to his confrontation
Probably also writes up like 17 different scripts all in a choose your own ending type format to include how to deal with every reaction
Ngl he panics a lot cause he knows that vaping is bad but after finding out you do it he canât stop watching these really concerning youtube videos about how peopleâs lives turned into a total complete disaster because of vaping
He becomes a nervous wreck every time you smell like weed
Always has you count to ten when he sees you
Likely has visions of you in the hospital or homeless on the street wheezing about how you wished someone had stopped youÂ
Either youâre gonna catch on and ask him about it, initiating the conversation or heâs gonna have Ortho do it
Heâs worried you will leave him for not being supportive
Literally asks you if youâre gonna leave him for this
Obviously you wonât so when you confirm that youâre staying he melts into a puddle and just cries
Highkey he looks more like one of those crazy people from the videos than you
âBut Idia youâre addicted to video games and sugar. People say thatâs as bad as cocaineâ
Figures out that sugar releases the same chemical in your brain as cocaine
âWhat if you just ate a bunch of candy with me instead? We can be sugar addicts together.â (Idia Iâd love to but no amount of candy is worth a break out)
Fine fine fine youâll stop (but only cause he literally looks like heâs having withdrawals just from worrying about you) itâs ironic
Malleus:
Most dramatic by far
WHY WOULD A FRAGILE HUMAN PURPOSELY PUT THEIR HEALTH AT RISK
Ngl has zero clue whatâs going on until Lilia points it out
âHuh doesnât smoking kill humans?â
*blink* *blink*
Smoking does what to a human
âDARLING!!!!â
Seriously thinks that your going to die any minute now
Que the mental breakdown
Calls all the best healers and puts you on bed rest
âDarling I know weâre gonna get through this. Just keep fightingâ
Ummm⊠you have no idea whatâs happening
He just kidnapped you from class and put you in a Diasomnia room and started weeping like you were dying
Lowkey he already started looking at ways to preserve your body as long as possible
Also looks at coffins and tombstones
Highkey plans to buy you a large plot of land that looks over the pretty stuff in the valley of thorns
Why? you ask.
Because obviously you deserve a whole cemetery to yourself
âMalleus Iâm not gonna-â
âShhh donât speak. Youâll only make it harder to healâ
Lilia walks in and finds this
Probably thinks this is super sweet and totally wants to leave you guys like this
But doesnât want Malleus to suffer and you to be held on house arrest for no reason
âSheâs not dying Malleusâ
What? Ooooooohhhh⊠oops
He gets embarrassed af
Has to call back all the people he hired to prepare for your death
âUm hi there. Turns out I donât need that jewel encrusted coffin. No no the pyramid should still be built, humans have short life spans.â
âMALLEUS!!!!â
He is so grateful youâre not dying
But would totally get pissed if you decided to smoke again
Guess thatâs the end of that

7 MEN äŸ
By your side
The people they want to tease when they're with them, and what kind of people they think do match with the other members? They are divided into 3 and had a discussion! (The interview was done on the first 10 days of June)
Kanasashi Issei Participates in Teasing Yabana?
Nakamura: All the 3 of us tease Yabanan when we want to meddle with someone, right? Even though we tease him with something unusual like, "Oh, a zombie!" He responds back, "Who is the zombie!" that's why I like teasing him (LOL).
Konno: Lately, Katsuki is also being teased. Like hiding his earphones.
Sugeta: The spring onion was put inside his bag secretly (LOL).
Nakamura: The reactions of 2 of them are great that's why they are fun to tease (LOL). Ori (Oriyama Nao) and (Iwasaki) Taisho are fun to tease too. When I Ori's nose, he will say, "Please stop it" while grinning, and that's cute (LOL). With Taisho, even though we are in a place with other people around us, when I tell him, "Be a cat," he does movements of a chubby stray cat. It isn't adorable at all though (LOL).
Sugeta: Ahaha! Rinne often teases Nasu (Yuto)-kun. When I call him," eggplant-kun (eggplant = nasu)," he responds, "It's Nasu!" (LOL). Nasu-kun's tsukkomi patterns are only few. "Yabaisu! (That's terrible)" "Chotto! (That's a little...!)" "Nasu desu! (It's "Nasu" )" Only these 3 (LOL).
Konno: I think I often tease Hiratsuka (Shoma). When everyone's trembling during the run-through of a stage play, Hiratsuka who came in first from Shounen Ninja suddenly fell flat on the floor. Since he did that much of air headedness, I couldn't help but to do a tsukkomi (LOL).
Sugeta: Aren't Shounen Ninja members full of energy overall? Even in backstage room, it feels like they go "let's play a game, let's play a game!" more than sleeping.
Nakamura: They often go to our room to play too, they are really energetic (LOL).
Konno: Bi Shounen's Ukisho (Hidaka) also often comes to our room to play, right?
Sugeta: Taisho also always comes. He says, "Rinne-kun, please give me a massage." That's why I always give his neck a massage.
Konno: On the contrary, Issei is being called by Taiko through the phone (LOL). And then, we will give instructions to Issei and he will tease Yabana.
Sugeta: It's funny because he does it in high spirit. He tells Yabana, "Come on!" (LOL).
Nakamura: He starts to say whatever he likes in the middle of teasing Yabana (LOL).
Konno: It's fun to see it, right? By they way, what kind of person do you want to be with you? I think a composed office lady matches with Reia.
Sugeta: No, isn't a girl who likes games matches him? A girl who likes games may have a quite rough expressions, but Reia matches with girls like that.
Nakamura: Certainly, a girl who communicates with game slang is nice. Like, "I did counter stop." If it's from the members, Yabana would be a nice match (LOL).
Sugeta: Well then, what kind of girl is a match with Rinne?
Konno: I want you to lead someone who is indecisive. Since you look strong (LOL).
Nakamura: Ee~ if talking about my preference, more than a muscular guy leading a girl, I want a girl who dominates. Like the guy only shows his manliness when it's important.
Sugeta: Which one is more popular? I will go with the popular one (LOL). Since Konpi wants to completely take the lead so a quiet girl matches him.
Nakamura: But that's only when they are dating, right? I think it is better to follow the lead from your partner when you marries. The person actually thinks that Konpi who pretends to lead is cute.
Konpi: Ee, but I want to lead...
Nakamura: It's fine, since the girl will make it look like that (LOL).
Sugeta: Well then, what would you do if you happen to see a girl who is really your type? Rinne will wear sunglasses and will stare at her (LOL).
Nakamura: Ahahaha! Like if it's in a restuarant, you will pretend to go to the toilet and look at her (LOL). But if that girl is really my ideal type, it's a waste if I won't meet her again so I want to be bold and talk to her.
Konno: Me too! I will sit on the chair in front of her at once and I want to talk to her (LOL).
Sugeta: No, that is definitely impossible (LOL).
Are Sasaki and Yabana dumbfounded in Motodaka's Approach?
Sasaki: The one that Motodaka wants by his side is a girl who can help him with fishing, right?
Motodaka: You mean a woman shell diver? (LOL)
Yabana: Or rather, a mermaid? But I guess it's not a great idea because you might fillet her (LOL).
Motodaka: I think it would have loads of views when you upload in YouTube, "I tried filleting my girlfriend"
Yabana: Get over it, it's scary! (LOL) On the contrary on Taiko's appearance, he is the type who wants to be relied on, so a girl who can depend on him looks great.
Sasaki: I wonder. When I go out to eat with someone, I'm bad dealing with people who can't decide on the menu.
Motodaka: Ah, I understand. On the contrary, it's impossible for me to be with someone who hurries me when I am deciding on the menu.
Yabana: At least, we know that Taiko and Daka-san (Motodaka) are not compatible (LOL). How about me?
Motodaka: For Yabana, I think someone who cares for your health is good.
Yabana: Certainly. I only eat ramen when I am left alone.
Motodaka: That's why I think a girl who can cook for you and look after you is a good match.
Sasaki: That is already as good as a mother, right? The girl who is a good match with Yabana is a mother! (LOL)
Yabana: Hey, why! (lol) *Why is it that when I am next to you two, I am always being teased...
Sasaki: Because your face says you want to be teased.
Yabana: Really? If anything, I think it is more fun to tease Konpi tho. Since he can give a proper tsukkomi.
Motodaka: Liar! Aren't you always getting ignored by Konpi?
Yabana: No no, he ignores me when we are with everyone, but if it's just the 2 of us, he gives me tsukkomi. But probably he just got no choice but to do it (LOL).
Sasaki: If we talk about someone besides from the members, I think (Yoshizawa) Shizuya-kun is also quite easy to tease.
Yabana: Really? Even though he is a senpai, that's amazing...
Sasaki: Shizuya-kun also has the face that he likes to be teased.
Motodaka: I know that feeling. I often tease Shounen Ninja's Motoki Waku. Because he always makes a face saying that he wants to be teased.
Yabana: Is it a common feature for those who are easy to tease that they have the face of looking like they want to be teased? (LOL). I think I tease Jr.SP often. I am close with them so it is easy to tease them.
Sasaki: Especially Wada (Yuki), right?
Yabana: Totally. Strangely, Wada gets teased by everyone (LOL). Well, if you went to have a meal, and the girl sitting next to you is your type, are you gonna talk to her?
Sasaki: I won't! (Immediately replied)
Yabana: That was fast (LOL). But well, if I think about reality, it is also impossible for me (LOL).
Sasaki: Because, it would be awkward if that person is a Johnny's fan by chance!
Yabana: You don't have to think so realistically (LOL). *What if you are told to talk to her?
Sasaki: Hmmm...that's probably impossible for me too. I will probably secretly tell to my friend who I am with, "Isn't that girl cute?"
Motodaka: I thought of a strategy. Since it's impossible for me to talk directly to her, I will create a situation where I can talk to her. I will pretend to be a weird guy.
Yabana: What do you mean?
Motodaka: First, I will try to sit in her table and eat as I like.
Sasaki: Huh? (LOL)
Motodaka: And then, I will tell her, "Sorry, I got it wrong! Shall I pay for it instead?" Then, it would lead to a conversation. How was it?
Yabana: Well, no, that is absolutely terrible. That has grade of 2 in communications! (LOL)
Recent Happenings
Motodaka Katsuki
My mom asked me to become a member of a large supermarket for business use. I immediately bought a huge amount of beef tongue and a pack of frozen fruits. I put frozen strawberries and pineapples in the carbonated drink instead of ice. It is delicious!
Yabana Rei
I've been working hard attending college for my credits lately. *I've been in the edge that I have to thoroughly complete my number of credits until 4th year. But, with my interview with the professor, I was told, "There's no problem with your grades."...I should be fine! (LOL)
Sugeta Rinne
I met Kitayama (Hiromitsu)-kun in the gym. I was thinking he doesn't know me but I was happy when told me, "you've become more muscular than before, right?" Then I informed him saying, *"In this one year, I am able to carry 1.5 to 2 times of the weights [I could carry before]!"
Konno Taiki
I've grown my hair! I want to go for a long hair for this year's summer. For it to be not damaged, I dry it after taking a bath and I apply hair treatments. I'm in the middle of dilemma about the hair color. If you have a hair color that you want for me to try, I want some consultation so please tell me!
Nakamura Reia
During the rehearsal for ăSUPERHEROISM ă(the play already ended), everyone surprised Taiko for his birthday. I gave him an AI speaker that can control home electronics as my gift. (Sasaki who is there next to him, "That is very convenient, it really helped me!"
Sasaki Taiko
I cleaned the house on my day off. I bought cleaning materials. I cleaned the bathtub and the toilet, and I also wanted to clean the dust under the bed so I turned the bed over and wiped the dust. Sleeping more comfortably than before in a room that was cleaned is the best!

PREACH IT!! SAY IT LOUDER FOR TH3 PEOPLE IN THE BACK!! *stands up and claps*
Just your comment, please I want to tattoo that entire response on my forehead so people could understand some stuff fjshdhsh. I very much agree with everything you have said, like I do think the bighit deal was more so with the help of say with western connections (which again does NOT mean pledis could have done this without bighit. They clearly could but I saw a theory on a YouTube comment where someone said they focused on the core fanbase aka in Korea which is their main market and it paid off imo) from helping with buisness side of things like we do have merch to buy directly (which I have my opinion on some merch ideas like why the fudge is bighit selling us water!? Bro you thought that worked with bts doesn't mean it will with seventeen) which wasn't common in the past or being able to film concerts with ease during the pandemic. Bighit clearly acknowledges that seventeen is a monster group in their own right I mean as you said, they break records and are 2nd behind bighits own group. They are EXTEMELY big in Japan. They are their own song makers, bang pd confirmed this when pleids was first announced in a press video so the fact people brush all of their achievements and statements because why, their streaming numbers are low?
And oohh such an interesting point as well! Very much i think the current mindset of kpop fans (or at least some) is that streaming is what equals success which to some degree, yes but as you said, many ignore the casual side of listening. People that find the song due to it being viral for whatever reason, a fancam getting popular like in the cass of hani from exid or whatever reason. Dwc is a great example and I saw those comments under their recent performance of that song and it makes me proud that the boys have a song like that. That it has its own "fanbase" quote on quote with how well loved that song simply is and well known. You don't have to have fans doing crazy streaming to be considered "popular", I mean I could give more examples but I don't wanna make this too long nor cause unwanted fandrama lol. Those casual listeners are extremely important and powerful I mean brave girls is a great recent example of that I think! It very much does seem like that when looking at the views, its mainly the core fanbase which isn't bad nor should we feel bad for not having crazy numbers. They seem more organic if that makes sense? Plus I agree, we can stream and can explain how it works, clearing up confusion about it like no emojis don't take down views and yes youtube does take away views but that is due to it making sure it isn't bots only viewing the video. Explaining that streaming should be done with a chill mindset and its ok if you don't stream. But hey, maybe we're too weird of fans to think like this fjajdjajs.
But some few updates! Seventeen is back on Instagram, fully everyone is posting away. Makes me happy hehe m, a bit funny it took so long for them to comeback but am happy nonetheless. The interactions that seungkwan does makes me super soft. Seventeen are also back with doing proper promotions so yay (also pledis is S Wording people over the mingyu issue finally so bless). As for me on the personal side of things. I have OFFICIALLY finished that video game ^_^ it took me a while but I have finished it, my last goodbye was completed and am at ease so to speak? Lowkey am planning on beating all the trophies in the game cx also may I ask about your thoughts on the album? Favorite songs, have you bought the physical cd?
ok finally getting around to this lol!!
and yeah that's absolutely true, pledis focused on kr promotions/fanbase first and foremost (and then expanded to Japan and is now looking toward the US/western promos in general). which i agree was a good thing. i think some companies get too greedy with wanting a group to be ~internationally famous~ that they ignore their Korean fanbase a bit too much and I've seen groups that have failed bc of it, so I'm glad that didn't happen w SVT
and yeah in terms of merch I'm genuinely grateful as an american that for this cb at least there was a US distributor which made things super convenient but wtf is going on w hybes merch those water bottles are not it TT it just sucks to see bc it's clear that at least as far as merch goes hybe doesn't have an interest in like. doing market research to figure out what carats want. which is funny bc they don't even have to start from scratch they could literally just ask pledis?? and tbh what's sad is i don't think hybe is like. purposefully trying to sabotage SVTs merch from my limited perspective i get the feeling they treat all their groups merch like that :( but since us carats have seen in the past what kind of merch we're capable of getting it's disappointing to see such a downgrade. and like tbf pledis's merch decisions were never perfect like that time they tried to sell replicas of the SVT rings and carats were rightfully pissed bc those are something the members earned, not something to be bought. and i also don't think hybe never has or never will make good merch, I'm sure they're fully capable of it. but it just seems obvious that they've put WAY less if any effort into understanding both the market (ie carats) and seventeens brand compared to pledis so like of course most carats aren't gonna like it :/ i really hope they step up their game and do better research or bring ppl onto the team who better understand svt's brand
and yeah i very much agree with everything u said about streaming! tbh i think this mindset isn't as uncommon as you might think, I've actually met a fair number of kpop fans who are critical of streaming culture but as u know there also are a lot of ppl who are really into it and those ppl tend to have the loudest voices. and unfortunately part of streaming culture is that if you question the methods or don't participate you must be a bad fan or secretly an anti or something ridiculous like that. so ppl who aren't into streaming culture end up learning to not be too vocal about it bc of how bad the backlash can be
yes! I'm glad to see insta line (+ now dk!!) active again. i still wonder why pledis made them stop using their ind instas, like I know all the theories people have as to why but honestly none that I've seen seem to fully make sense. it will probably be one of those things where we'll just never know the full story. but i digress!! regardless of the reason I'm just glad to have them back after all this time ^^
congrats on finishing the game! I'm glad it was able to help you work through your grief a bit and that you feel more at ease now ;-; and good luck with the rest of the trophies if you end up trying to get them!
as always I'm answering this a bit late so you may have seen already but i did get the physical album! it was a birthday gift so i only got it the other day, but according to my mom it arrived almost immediately after the album was released so as i said before, I'm very grateful for the US shop this time around ;-; as for the songs usually it's easy for me to pick one or two favorites but this time around it's genuinely a 4-way tie between heavens cloud and all the unit songs TT (i also love anyone and RTL, they're just slightly lower on the list in terms of preference if u get what i mean). i really hope some time in the future we get some kind of performance or special video or something for heavens cloud, since so many carats and the members themselves seem to really love it. i also think it's a song that brings up such beautiful imagery that it would be a shame if it never got any type of visual representation, you know? I'm also really curious to see a performance of wave, since iirc the members said the choreo is a lot more laid back/different from other perf unit choreos?? + that song also evokes such great imagery for me that like... makes feel like it needs some kind of movement so I'm just itching to see a performance. kind of like... even if i didn't know it was a perf unit song i would think it would be great to choreograph to if that makes any sense dhfkf. but yeah overall i think it's just a really solid album, as expected from summerteen ^^

Hands On Me - Chapter 1
Pairing: Reader / Jungkook
Genre:Â College!au, fluff, mild angst, smutÂ
Length: 4,341k words
Warnings:Â language, sexual themesÂ
Summary:Â Youâd never had much luck with relationships, and experience had taught you to shy away from physical intimacy. But when you started dating your neighbor, Jungkook, you began to think he was worth the risk. College AU.Â
A/N: Next chapter coming soon. I originally wrote this a few months ago based on a prompt I got from my writerâs group. It was supposed to be college based romance, coupleâs first time together, mildly angsty, and include the dialogue âDo you want to break up?â I sort of vaguely pictured JK when I was writing the male lead, at least visually, so I thought I would post it as a reader fan fic, which Iâve never written before. I usually write Marvel fan fic at AO3 in third person (not second person) so this isnât as natural for me. Also, this is just for funsies because I donât do real life shipping with real life people, though I do enjoy reading some of the well written fics Iâve seen in the fandom. If people enjoy this one, I might post more as I have a lot of short story prompts Iâve written for my club and donât do anything with.Â
Chapter 1
Snuggled up on the sofa watching TV together was how you spent most evenings with your boyfriend, Jungkook. You did a quick clean that morning in anticipation of him coming over since he seemed to prefer being in your space, though it hardly mattered; home was just a few doors down regardless of which apartment you chose to spend time together in.
You shifted your attention from the book you were reading to Jungkookâs profile, fingers itching to trace the sharp jawline that attracted so many women to the gym where he worked as a part-time trainer while he finished university. He also needed a haircut, but heâd shrugged off the suggestion when you mentioned it earlier that week. The slightly longer, inky black locks suited him though.
He was focused on the basketball game that had gone into overtime, his thumb absentmindedly stroking against your hip as you leaned against him. Being close to him was a double-edged sword lately and a reminder that he hadnât really touched you in a while. Not since that night a few weeks ago.
When you first started dating three months ago, heâd been very physical with you. Dates that ended with kisses at the door had quickly turned into dates that ended with making out on the sofa at his apartment or yours. But during one very heated session on his sofa you got nervous, suddenly worried that things were moving too fast, and you pulled back. To his credit, Jungkook backed off immediately, assuring you that he was fine with following a slower pace.
Your high school boyfriend had pushed for sex and against your better judgment, youâd slept with him after the senior winter formal, only to be devastated when he moved on less than a month later. Similarly, your last boyfriend had been very pushy about sex, and your reluctance was a bone of contention between you until he broke it off.
At twenty-two, Jungkook was a year older, and you knew that he was much more experienced. Youâd been neighbors for almost a year now, and youâd seen several of the girls he dated coming and going during that time. Youâd never spoken to one another outside the occasional hello in passing until the night you came back from work to find your ex-boyfriend, Mike, drunk and pounding on your door.
Since you didnât want to let him into your apartment, you stood outside to talk to him. Apparently offended that you wouldnât let him in, heâd begun berating you loudly enough to have a few neighbors popping their heads out to see what was going on. And in the middle of that embarrassing situation, Jungkook and his friend walked up.
âHey y/n,â Jungkook said. âSorry weâre late.â
He slipped an arm around your waist, startling you, though you couldnât deny you were grateful for the interruption.
His friend chimed in, holding up a takeout bag. âWe brought dinner.â Youâd seen him around campus and remembered that his name was Jimin.
Mike had eyed Jungkook, as if sizing up a potential fight. But while he had an inch or two on Jungkook in height, Jungkook was all lean muscle and without question the stronger of the two. So, he had backed off, but not before firing off a parting shot. âGood luck with the virgin. Cold fish bitch.â
Your cheeks were burning as he walked away.
Jimin broke the silence. âWhat an asshole. Does he do this a lot?â
You shook your head. âThis is the first time Iâve seen him since we broke up.â You could only assume the alcohol had made him think that you were a potential booty call. Â
Jungkook frowned as he stepped out of your personal space. âSorry if I overstepped. I know itâs not my business, but I didnât like the way he was crowding you at the door and yelling at you.â
âNo, I appreciate you getting rid of him,â you answered. âThank you.â
Jimin held up the takeout bag again. âWe really do have dinner. Do you want to join us? Maybe itâs better if youâre not here alone in case he decides to come back.â
You hesitated, but then your stomach growled, a reminder that you hadnât eaten since breakfast because of a hectic day of classes followed by work at the campus library.
Jungkook smiled. âWeâll take that as a yes.â
You became friends with Jungkook after that night. It was amazing how quickly youâd felt comfortable around him. He was kind and friendly, and he frequently helped the elderly residents of your building. Then one night after heâd shown up at the campus library and walked you the few blocks home, he kissed you. It marked the beginning of your new relationship, and youâd been inseparable ever since.
Unlike the few other guys you had dated, Jungkook had never directly brought up the topic of sex, nor had he pushed for it. Youâd had a brief conversation one night about your respective exes. You knew heâd had one serious relationship that ended when he moved away for college and the long-distance relationship proved to be too much of a strain. Heâd only dated casually since then, though youâd seen some of his overnight guests leaving his apartment the morning after.
Jungkook knew youâd had a boyfriend in high school, but you hadnât gone into the details of the breakup. Though it was several years in the past, that rejection still stung, and you didnât like to talk about it. Heâd never asked about Mike other than to ensure you werenât being harassed. You supposed the drunken scene he and Jimin had witnessed was explanation enough.
You were so lost in your thoughts that you failed to notice the game had ended until Jungkook spoke. âYouâve been doing that a lot lately.â
You looked up to see him watching you, an unreadable expression on his face. âDoing what?â
âCompletely zoning out,â he replied with a half-smile. âIs something bothering you?â His chocolate brown eyes studied you intently.
âNo,â you said quickly. Maybe too quickly because you could tell he didnât quite believe you. His tongue pushed against his cheek, something he did when he was thinking about how to deal with a problem.
After a moment, he nodded. âOkay.â He stood up and stretched. âI should get going. I have an early client tomorrow.â
Saturdays were always busy at his gym, and he sometimes worked longer hours on the weekends. âDo you have clients tomorrow night?â
âOne,â he confirmed as he pulled on his leather jacket. âJenâs birthday party is tomorrow, right?â
You nodded as you walked to the door with him. âWeâll be at Carmenâs.â Jen had been planning her birthday for months and wanted a venue with good food, music and dancing. The trendy bar had only been open for about a year, but it was popular for the menu, which included themed cocktails, and the Latin music. Youâd been looking at salsa dancing tutorials on YouTube because you were sure that your best friend would insist on hitting the dance floor.
âOkay. Jimin and I will swing by around ten.â
Jimin and Jen were involved in a casual flirtation that they both enjoyed, though you werenât so sure it was really going anywhere. Jimin was a handsome transfer student studying modern dance, which took up a lot of his time, much to the disappointment of the single girls on campus. And for the two years youâd been friends, you had never known Jen to date anyone seriously. Still, Jen had heavily hinted that she wanted Jimin to come to her birthday party, and so you had told Jungkook to bring him.
âOkay.â You tilted your head back as he leaned down to kiss you goodbye.
You loved kissing him â the way his hands settled on your hips, and the way the first gentle brush of his lips against yours always gave way to slow, deep kisses. Your hands drifted down his chest to his waist, clutching the material of his t-shirt to ground yourself.
It would be so easy to get swept away. By the heat that flared between you. By your feelings. You knew without a doubt that you had fallen hard for him.
Jungkook pulled back, kissing the top of your head before releasing you. âIâll see you tomorrow.â
You closed the door behind him and locked up, leaning your head against it for a moment. You were beginning to regret letting him leave every night even if you werenât sure if you were ready for more. You wanted more, but you were afraid of it too. And you had no idea what to do about it.
_________________________________________
You nibbled your bottom lip as you sat on Jenâs bed, watching your friend dig through her closet. âDo you think I shouldâŠâ you paused, wondering how to broach this topic. While Jen had few conversational barriers, you were more hesitant to talk about sex.
âShould what?â Jen asked, her tone distracted as she pulled out another dress and tossed it over the chair at her desk. She tapped her well-manicured nails against the wall as she studied the contents of her closet before pulling out another dress and dropping it on the chair.
You glanced at the pile of dresses accumulating on the chair. âI thought you were going to wear that new dress you bought last week?â
âThis isnât for me,â Jen stated. âThis is for you.â
You failed to contain a snort of laughter. âYouâre like six inches taller than me. And I have a dress.â It wasnât new, and Jen had complained that the dark color washed you out the last time you wore it. But unlike Jen, whose wealthy parents supplied her with credit cards and charge accounts around the city, you couldnât afford to waste money on clothes. Your parents helped when they could, but you also had three younger siblings still at home and college was only possible because of your scholarships. Living in the city was also expensive; if not for Jungkook contributing to your groceries since you often ate together, youâd probably be eating ramen five nights a week.
âAnd Iâm a fashion design student, so I have time to alter one of these. If I have to see you in that funeral dress again, Iâm going to burn it. Worse, do you really want Jungkook to see you in it?â she shuddered as she tossed another dress on the chair. âOkay, I think these are the best options. Now, what were you asking? Do I think you should what?â
You hadnât considered that Jungkook might also hate that dress. Maybe it wouldnât hurt to see what Jen had in mind. Arguing with her was next to impossible anyway.
You helped Jen hang the dresses on a clothes rack in the corner so you could see them better. âDo you think I should sleep with Jungkook?â
Jen raised a brow as she glanced over at you. âHell yes. Have you talked about it?â
You shook your head. âNo. I kind of⊠I donât know. Freaked out a little bit a few weeks ago when we were kissing and stuff. It seemed like we were headed there, and I wasnât sure I was ready, and I know I totally pulled a one eighty on him. And now he barely touches me.â
âHuh.â Jen considered that for a minute. âSo things are weird now? Are you afraid heâs going to break up with you or something?â
You hadnât really thought about that. âI wasnât, but now that you said it, maybe.â You had mostly been worried that if you broke up after sleeping together, heâd be that much harder to get over because you knew that youâd be more attached to him then than you already were. But maybe that worry â that he would leave because you were holding back â had been there all along.
âIâm not saying he would do that,â Jen hurried to add. âIâve seen how he acts around you, and how he looks at you. I really think heâs one of the good ones. But with your past experiences, I can see why youâd be worried. Has he ever been pushy about it?â
âNo, never. When I told him that I thought we were moving too fast, he said heâd follow my pace. Only now, weâve just kind of stalled out.â
âI guess heâs waiting for you to do something then. Like give him a signal that you want more.â
That could be it too. âI donât really know how,â you admitted. âI have one nightâs experience to draw from, and that was years ago.â
âThat wasnât an experience, y/n, that was a sexual travesty.â
You couldnât argue with that. âHeâs experienced though. Iâm sure he knows how to make it good for me, but I donât know how to do that for him. What if Iâm bad in bed?â
âFirst of all, you have no idea how you are in bed because youâre practically still a virgin. Second, men are easier to please when it comes to sex anyway. Jungkook likes you. Itâs easy to tell that he has real feelings for you, so I think thereâs zero chance that he wouldnât like sex with you. You really need to talk to him about it.â
You felt your cheeks heat up just thinking about trying to talk to him about this. âI know. Iâm just embarrassed.â
Jen rolled her eyes. âIf you canât talk about it, you probably shouldnât be doing it. Or I guess you could take the easier route and wear something that does the seduction for you. Like this.â She held up a deep red halter neck dress. The low neckline and back ensured maximum skin exposure. Jen was tall and had long, dark hair so on her, it probably looked fabulous.
Eyeing the dress with skepticism, you said, âThat dress is your style, not mine. Iâve never worn anything like that before.â Your style could best be described as casual. On date night, you managed flirty casual, and Jungkook didnât seem to have any complaints. This dress was on a whole other level, though.
âWe can make it your style. Iâll make sure itâs not too revealing if thatâs what youâre worried about.â When you still hesitated, Jen added, âCome on, Jungkook will forget how to talk when he sees you in this. I guarantee that you wonât have any trouble getting him into bed if thatâs what you decide you want.â
The idea of surprising Jungkook with something like this was appealing. Maybe shaking up your image for one night would give you the confidence to talk to him about your relationship.
_____________________________________
Jungkook stifled a yawn as he entered Carmenâs. It had been an exceptionally long day, and he wished this was a regular Saturday night like the ones he usually spent with his girlfriend, y/n. He liked being in your apartment because your sofa was comfortable, you had an old record player and some killer albums that youâd collected since middle school, and your essential oil candles made everything smell nice.
Jimin had been teasing him for a couple of months now, calling him domesticated. He supposed he was because before meeting you, he rarely spent a Saturday night in. If someone had told him then that heâd soon trade beers at his favorite bar for candles and snuggling on the sofa, he would have laughed.
And since Jimin rarely got him out on a weekend anymore, and Jen had equal complaints about you, he doubted either of you would get away with ducking out early.
âAre they upstairs or downstairs?â Jimin asked.
âDownstairs, I think,â he replied.
He let Jimin lead the way. It was crowded downstairs, and he first searched the booths and bar area, expecting to find you chatting with friends. You always said dancing in public made you feel awkward unless you were drunk, and since your alcohol tolerance was low, you usually didnât drink much.
âI see Jen on the dance floor,â Jimin said. âDid you find her?â
âNo.â Jungkook scanned the dance floor, briefly pausing on a petite girl wearing a red dress before looking back at the booths. âMaybe sheâs in the bathroom.â He pulled out his phone to call you. Â
âWait, is that y/n?â Jimin suddenly asked. Â
Jungkook glanced up from his phone. âWhere?â
âThat girl in the red dress.â
He looked back at the dance floor for the girl in red, ready to deny it. Except sheâd turned around now, and Jimin was right. Holy shit.
âDamn. I know Iâve been giving you a hard time lately, calling you domesticated. Iâll shut up now because if I knew I was taking her home later, Iâd be domesticated too.â
Jungkook glared at Jimin. âWhatever youâre thinking, stop.â
Jiminâs expression was sheepish. âSorry, man. Iâm going to hell for impure thoughts, but so are half the guys hanging around her. You might want to worry more about them.â
Jungkook was already on the move as heâd noticed the same thing. Shouldering past two guys trying to dance up behind you, he gave them a look that ensured they backed off. Your back was facing him, and he swallowed hard as his eyes drifted down from your shoulders. The dress draped in the small of your back, leaving a bare expanse of skin, and his fingers literally itched to touch you.
He gave in to the urge, sliding his hand along your waist lightly to get your attention. You turned your head, brows furrowed as you flinched away from the unexpected touch. But when you saw it was him, you smiled and wrapped your arms around his waist.
âYouâre here,â you said, tilting your head back to look at him. âIâve been waiting forever.â
He smiled at your uncharacteristically dramatic tone. âSorry. I forgot my bag, so I had to run home to change. Are you having fun?â You were pressed close against him on the crowded dance floor, and he was enjoying the feeling of your small body against his. He let his hands settle on your hips, thumbs rubbing light circles. You shivered in response. âAre you cold?â
âNo. That just feels good,â you said with a sigh. You toyed with the top button of his long-sleeved white Henley.
He wasnât used to you being that direct about what you liked. And when your hands suddenly wandered under his leather jacket and ran up his back, he suppressed a shiver of his own. âI think youâre drunk, baby.â He pulled you closer, trying to ignore the teasing glimpse of cleavage revealed by your dress. Your hair drifted around your pale shoulders in loose waves, and all he could think about was running his fingers through it as he kissed you. Â
âMaybe a little bit,â you admitted, scrunching your nose as you smiled up at him. âThe cocktails are really good here.â
God, you were adorable. Heâd never met another girl that he wanted to simultaneously fuck senseless but also protect and cuddle, though the former urge was winning out tonight. Heâd never imagined you wearing a dress like this, and he knew it would be fueling his fantasies for quite some time. It had to be Jenâs influence, though he certainly wasnât complaining.
As if reading his thoughts, Jen suddenly sidled past him on her way to the bar. âYouâre welcome.â
For the next three hours, you divided your time between the dance floor and the bar, and Jungkook was content to follow behind you. You danced slowly together regardless of the beat, and he finally allowed his hands to stroke your bare back. You kept tilting your head back, inviting his kisses, and he was happy to indulge you. He was so turned on he could hardly think straight, but he knew he needed to keep a tight rein on the situation. The last thing he wanted was a repeat of that night a few weeks before when you had all but run from his apartment.
When you got a bit unsteady on your feet, Jungkook ordered water and fries at the bar before leading you to the booth where Jimin, Jen and a couple of other friends were talking. He could tell you were starting to fade as you finished the water and food. When you yawned and leaned against him, he kissed the top of your head. âI think itâs time we got you home.â
You hummed in agreement. Jen tossed him your jacket from the corner of the booth, and he helped you put it on. The cab ride back home was long enough for you to fall asleep in his arms. He savored every minute, stroking your hair gently, lulled by the sound of your breathing and glad that you had shaken off the pensive mood youâd been in the night before.
Jungkook was observant enough to realize that something was worrying you lately. While it bothered him that you wouldnât tell him what you were thinking about, he worried that the relationship was still too fragile for him to push when it was obvious that you didnât want to talk about it. Still, it was becoming increasingly difficult to let it go because he was concerned that it had something to do with him.
He wondered if it was about sex. Ever since that night heâd intervened when your ex showed up drunk, heâd wondered about your relationship with him. Something in the past had made you nervous about physical intimacy, which heâd realized after you ran out of his apartment that night, and heâd been very careful not to do anything that might make you run again. More and more he wished heâd punched that asshole, feeling certain he was somehow to blame. Heâd deserved that and more for the name calling alone.
When you arrived home, Jungkook paid the driver and helped you from the car. Upstairs, he unlocked your apartment, smiling when you kicked your heels off and the effort sent you stumbling sideways. He steadied you before removing your jacket and draping it on the arm of the sofa. You walked to your bedroom and he grabbed some water from the kitchen before following you.
âYou donât feel sick, do you?â he asked, placing the water on your nightstand.
You shook your head as you sat on the edge of the bed and reached out a hand to him. âNo.â
He took your hand and sat next to you. âYou should change before you go to sleep, so youâll be more comfortable.â
âYou like the dress, right?â You nibbled your bottom lip as you peeked up at him through your lashes.
Understatement. âYou look beautiful,â Jungkook said quietly, pushing your hair off your shoulder. His breath caught when you turned her cheek toward his palm and rubbed against him like a sleepy kitten.
âThen kiss me,â you whispered.
He hesitated, but you were already reaching for him. The kiss was like throwing a match on kindling. Then you scooted back to lie down and pulled him with you.
This was dangerous and he knew it, but he ignored the niggling little warning in his head because heâd been thinking about kissing you like this all night. He pressed against your soft curves but kept most of his weight off you as slow kisses turned more passionate. And when your hands grew bolder, running across his chest and back and tugging him closer, he gave in to the temptation, pulling you more fully beneath him.
When you parted your thighs, allowing his hips to settle between them, he dropped his head to your shoulder with a groan. Pressing kisses against your neck, he willed himself to calm down. âBaby, we should stop.â
You responded by pushing your hips up against him, and he bit back a curse. He was fully hard now and stopping was the last thing he wanted to do, but he knew it was the right thing. Jungkook braced his weight on his forearms and took a breath as he stared down at you.
âBut I want you to stay,â you said, threading your fingers in his hair. Your eyes seemed much darker in the dim light of the bedroom. Your small hands drifted down to his shoulders, kneading, and then moved further down to toy with the hem of his shirt.
Jungkook closed his eyes and took another deep breath, the light fragrance of your perfume doing nothing to help him regain control. As much as he wanted you â had wanted you from the first night he kissed you - he didnât want your first time together to be after a night of drinking. If there was even the slightest chance that you might regret it later, it wasnât worth it.
He gave in one last time, kissing the spot beneath your ear that always made you shiver. He darted his tongue out to taste you and then captured your lips for one more long, slow kiss. âNot tonight.â
You didnât argue anymore, allowing him to pull away. You were quiet as you got up and took some clothes from the dresser before going to the bathroom to change. When you returned, your face was clean, and you wore the usual pajama pants and t-shirt you preferred to sleep in. You didnât say anything as you slipped past him to crawl back into bed and pull the covers up.
âYouâre sure you feel okay?â he asked.
You nodded, your eyes already closed. âIâm just tired.â
He brushed his hand over your hair and leaned down to kiss your forehead. âIâll lock up on my way out. Iâll give you the key back tomorrow.â
âOkay.â
Jungkook hesitated for a moment. Something seemed off somehow. Awkward, maybe. âIâll see you tomorrow.â
He turned off the light and let himself out, making sure to lock the door behind him.

Completed - Baba is You
I can't believe this is the first game I've perfected on Steam.
Like, I don't like achievement systems in video games, okay? I prefer to set my own goals. Sure, there are some achievements that are interesting, like learning to use a certain mechanic in a cool or efficient manner, visiting hidden rooms, or even running around with nothing but my character's default busted sword just to prove a point. Mostly, I just want to finish them. I don't go jumping through flaming hoops because I want people to think I'm cool. I'm from Iowa. I'm critically uncool by design.
If a game is good, I will put in the extra work. Like, getting 100% souls in "Castlevania: Aria of Souls" and 200.6% map completion in "Castlevania: Symphony of the Night" is now just routine for me. With "Baba is You"? Well, circumstances are just a teeny bit different.
"Baba is You" is a puzzle game from independent developer Arvi Teikari. Your primary goal in the game is to create statements out of nouns, verbs, and conditions and use those generated rules to complete levels. It's basically catnip to programmers. These puzzles are packaged in cute, scribbly animations and gentle music. Ultimately, its soft presentation is the figurative sheep's clothing under which the wolf of this game lives, dragging its players through increasingly more complex situations, sitting there, laughing, its whole world wiggling in its adolescent mockery of you and your sluggish brain.
You're not always even Baba. I know. The absolute betrayal.
I originally saw this game being streamed back in 2019. A frustrating feeling overtook me as I watched the player work through the puzzles. I could feel myself solving them before she could, and it was making me itch. I didn't want to have any more spoiled without giving it a shot myself, so I purchased the game, put in a few hours, and then dropped it for two years. Hell, the major reason I came back to it was that I was babysitting my mom's very needy poodle, and I was more or less trapped on the couch with her during her entire stay. Had to do something. So, I decided this was it.
"Baba is You" really is the ultimate "Yeah, I'll get back to this" game. You know what I mean? There's always a handful of games that you make a little headway into, and then you think, "Yeah, I'll get back to this" and then drop it. I try not to be this way. Video games are expensive, and I want to get as much value as I can out of them. But man, does this game get overwhelming.
I mean, the TAS for a 100% run is currently around an hour and forty-five minutes. That's for 226 puzzles. That is a lot.
Granted, you don't have to finish every puzzle if you don't want to. The game can let you slide free with your first ending after completing only three subworlds on the main map. You know how many people get to that first ending? Like, we're talking maybe getting through 3 hours of gameplay or so. As of this posting, it's around 7.8% of all players on Steam. In comparison, here are first time ending numbers from other games I own on Steam:
"Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon" â 38% (Cleave the Moon)
"Trine" â 29.6% (Completed!)
"Dust: An Elysian Tale" â 23.9% (âŠAnd the Dust Settles)
"Fez" â 14.7% (Kill Screen)
"Psychonauts" â 13.2% (I Thought That Was Unbeatable!)
"Typing of the Dead" â 12.9% (Experimental Fiction)
"Final Fantasy VII" â 9.4% (End of Game)
That's right. From a percentage point of view, more players will put 80 hours into a 20+ year old RPG than 3 hours in this game. So, what's up with that?
At first, I wasn't struggling terribly with the game. I was making a pretty steady clip through it, stopping occasionally to check out the game's wiki. (BTWâview that on a laptop browser, not a mobile one. The background makes it hard to read some of the verbs and conditions.) My first tap-out in 2019 happened around the "Forest of Fall" block, when the game started introducing teleporting puzzles. My second brain-snap happened about 18 hours in the game when I accidentally created the phrase "Level is Key" in the puzzle "Fragile Existence," and then I realized that I could both create this level as Baba and had to create another level as a flag to win the overworld map.
And then there was a submap.
And another.
And another.
Holy crap, my brain was not ready for the mess that was Depths and Meta.
At one point, I stopped myself and reviewed why I was overcome with despair at my own stupidity. A part of it is yes, the game looks very cute, and the language used in the puzzles is very simple. So, when you don't get it, it's like saying you don't get "Sesame Street." And hey, maybe you wouldn't if it was in Mandarin and you only speak English. But, I did want to beat myself up for my sluggish responses and my growing feeling of helplessness. Why couldn't I beat the simple sheep game for babies? Was I really that stupid?
I think it helped to know what troubles I had my playthrough harder. This included:
Using text to push objects past barriers. (Yes, text exists in the world, and unless it's floating, you can use that text to move objects around. It's like hitting a car with a stop sign.)
Assuming attributes on an object that weren't actually assigned (i.e., assuming a door was locked or a wall would prevent me from moving through it, even if that wasn't the case.)
Manipulating text to double-layer nouns or break up commands by wedging an inactive/non-solid object in them. (See: Prison.)
Realizing that "you" doesn't always have to go to a certain destination. Sometimes, "you" just need to have something move over there or push something into where you want to go.
Remembering to use the "Wait" button to let moving objects finish their paths.
"Defeat" is a condition that applies only to "you", not objects in your possession. (They may instead be destroyed by "Sink").
Some rules need to be created and destroyed in the same turn.
Things that move on their own can be used to carry commands through obstacles.
Sometimes, you've just got to count your steps when you're taking an action and see if you can reduce them.
And granted, despite my stupidity, there were some puzzles that really clicked! I particularly enjoyed using the "Word" condition, as it allowed for me to treat both words and objects as a noun to make assignments. There were also times where I had to spell out the commands I wanted from letters left on the map. Fun! Natural! And hell, who doesn't enjoy a good block pushing puzzle, now and again? Super easy. Makes sense. Key is push, door is open. Of course!
Ass is Hot! Of course! (Wait, that wasnât the solution...)
I tended to lock up more when the "Defeat" piece was on screen. I mean, you can always undo your mistakes, and there's no life limit or anything like that. But, hearing your player character go splat when you mess up is flinch-worthy. Additionally, I hated having to build complex paths for objects to follow. Like, screw the entirety of Adventurers. Also, learning what the "Lonely" condition meant felt very unnatural. It was hard to even tell why I was splatting until I read up on what it meant.
Interestingly, changing the language of the game only affects the menu's language, not the game itself. (I was wondering if adding a layer of comprehension to objects would stop me from auto-assigning properties to them or not. Makes sense that it's all in English, considering the "form objects from letters" puzzles.)
I felt bad when I finally gave up on putting effort into solving the puzzles on my own. I did. But, I was also 18 hours deep into my file in a single week, and I wanted to get back to my other hobbies. I felt that if I gave up on "Baba is You" again, I wouldn't finish it ever. And then, those 18 hours truly would be wasted. Also, I felt sick that only 7.8% of people had gotten to the first ending screen. The game isn't bad! It's hard, but not bad! I wanted to at least give it enough dignity to finish it off, even if I was more or less reading what I needed to build with one eyeball and building it with the other.
And hell. Given all of the version differences of this game and the amount of time that has passed since its release, it is a teeny bit YouTube proof. Not completely invulnerable, but I did catch a difference or two here and there. And it's not like the wiki's the clearest with what you need to do, even when they're telling you exactly what to do. You've got to mind your space with your words. At the very least, don't push anything aside or wreck it until you absolutely must.
I can't emphasize how much I felt bad about giving up. I mean, it's one thing to look at guides for other game types. You can get knowledge on how to beat a boss or level, but you've physically got to develop the skills needed to vault through that goal. With puzzle games, knowledge is 99% of what you need to accomplish your task. The rest is just putting in the solution as elegantly as possible.
92.2% of players didn't bother to do even that.
I won't pretend to say I know enough about puzzles to make an excellent puzzle game. However, I do think brevity would have helped this game. Like, think of puzzle games people like. "Tetris," right? Even a long game of "Tetris 64" lasts me a couple of hours at most. "Portal"? That's a handful of hours supported by plot and fun dialogue. So is the sequel. "Panel de Pon" / "Tetris Attack" / "Puyo Puyo"? Those are like "Street Fighter" arcade campaigns. Like, 15-20 minutes. To have a puzzle game go on for hours and hours without any character motivation or plot in sight? Yeah. That's going to burn a lot of people out.
Like, this game could have just the over world, a single hidden world, and then the Center portion, and that would have been more than enough. And then you know what could have been done with the rest of the puzzles? Put them in a new game! "Baba is More!" Bam! A second game, now with extra "Inception"-styled mind screws! Twice the money earned! (Yeah, okay. This plan might stink of capitalism.)
Making 226 puzzles is impressive. However, brevity is the soul of wit. Sometimes, design can be contradictory like that.
But, its achievements? Perfectly laid out. Truly finishing the game is likely to net you everything. I only had to put in a couple of hours after the true ending, and really, only fifteen minutes of that was solving the puzzles. The rest was just finding what I had missed. (I've heard rumors that "Baba is Baba" is bugged, but I think you just need to look up how to get the Level is Win solution in Meta figured out. The rest is elbow grease.)
I don't know if I can recommend this game. Again, having a case of the bad feels over that statement, especially since it seems like the developer has his heart in the right place. I'm hesitant to recommend this because when I was playing it, I had a migraine that lasted three days straight. Granted, there were possibly some external factors to why I had that. A fat polar vortex. Stress from work. Some hormonal influences. Not enough caffeine or water. Just generally living in the United States in the early 2020s. Plenty of things to crush my skull. I don't think it's in good taste to recommend something that will cause others physical pain. I mean, I'm used to games cracking my hands, but that's not exactly healthy behavior. I certainly wouldn't want to give someone an epileptic attack. Why would I want to drive a nail through their skulls, either?
I do think the game is solidly designed. It's a smart little cookie. But, it is unintentionally discouraging to get through, especially if you feel like you can't ask for help. Like getting a clue or an explanation is cheating.
Look. Try. Try hard. Be as honest and earnest as you can be. Just don't expect to do everything in your life alone, okay? I mean, there are times you've got to get an external perspective. I frequently had to crash after school with mathematics teachers and badger professors to explain topics outside of class. You think I was going to come up with how there are different kinds of infinities on my own? Hell no. I'm not creative in terms of mathematical proofs. But, I sure as hell can explain how different infinities work now! Even post-schooling, I still research topics, particularly when building or fixing things. I wouldn't have learned half of the things I've learned about maintaining game cartridges or building dollhouses without suggestions from professionals and enthusiasts. It's just part of life. You ask for help so you don't burn resourcesâespecially something as valuable as time!

Can you do an analysis on Cloud and Tifaâs body language during that scene when theyâre in Cloudâs room and heâs slyly referring to his promise to Tifa? There was crazy sexual tension in that scene and it honestly looked like Cloud was subtly being flirty with her đ
No probs, Nonny! I actually already touched on their body language in a reply to a gif set of this bit, so we'll just expand on that ^=^
Ok, spoiler warning for ppl who haven't played â do I still need to do this? Eh ok, (I tag FF7R spoilers as final fantasy 7 remake spoilers) and it's gonna be a VERY long one so prepare to scroll.
Also, this is one person's interpretation of the scene, so if you disagree that's cool and we'll agree to disagree.
You're also gonna have to excuse the janky quality on some of the screens, I'm grabbing them from Youtube and it's frustrating af trying to get the exact moment I want.
Other analyses if anyone's interested.

Recap time! Yall know the drill by now if you've read my other ramblings.
Chapter 3, where we get a room (lol), do some jobs and have a chat with Tifa. It's pretty basic stuff until the cut scene after Marle gives Cloud a talking to. She's the overprotective grandmother figure that Tifa needs in her life and she wants to make sure Cloud isn't messing with her. Now, why would she think that? Well, maybe she picked up some hints when Tifa mentioned Cloud to her about wanting a place to stay? Marle's pretty sharp, after all, and if she got the impression Tifa is carrying a torch, she'd definitely make sure Cloud's not about to blow it out. She tells him to pay attention to her, to listen. This is the very first instance of Cloud taking in that kind of info and it changes how he treats others for the rest of the game.
After the chapter 4 mission where Cloud reflects on his promise to Tifa, it's back to the slums for some rest. Then Tifa knocks on his door and enters. She mentions Cloud was gone for a while, and he answers he was walking so that he keeps Jessie's secret â because he's that kind of guy.
Small talking Tifa is cute, but lol, Cloud seems to have purposely forgotten Johnny since he's yet another admirer of Tifa. For a guy who doesn't forget info like morons who could cause them trouble in the long run, it's pretty telling how quickly he is to dismiss Johnny.
Onto something more interesting in this pic, though. Cloud is sitting on the bed. Now, if he wasn't comfortable around Tifa he'd have got up. His eyeline is lower than hers so he has to look up at her. This puts her in a position of dominance over him â also not surprising since his mentality is that of a 16yr old around her and she's the adult in the relationship. Tifa for her part has her body turned to the side in a non-confrontational pose.
Tifa has her hands clasped in front of herself (couple of seconds before this screen) which indicates she's trying to protect herself as she asks the question if Cloud is leaving Midgar. Not surprising since she's afraid of losing people she cares about and even just someone heading off somewhere else would upset her, though she'd try not to show it.
Cloud, for his part, looks away, appearing as though he's thinking it over, but we're already aware he's decided to stay and help Tifa out, so this is a fake out on his part. He's half-teasing, half trying to get a positive response from her (remember the water tower? Yeah, this is that Cloud. The dork. The one who is useless at talking to girls).
I'm sorry, but Cloud is such a cheeky bastard I just can't with him! This is giving me all the throwbacks to his behaviour at the water tower and I love that it mirrors that moment, but with more success on his part this time. He's looking all around trying not to give himself away before it's needed. He's smiling and looks relaxed. He might be sitting but he definitely believes he has the upper hand between them at this point. Remember, I've said before that eye contact is important. Well, in this case, Cloud's deliberate refusal to make eye contact shows he's teasing. This is such a cute moment between them!
Oh ho! But here's where his teasing ends. Cloud is being completely serious and obviously took the promise between them as being special. Ducking his head out of sight completely prevents us from seeing his expression and allows him to act in a casual way about something that's such an important part of who he became. But, he's not quite pulling it off because he's also looking quite defensive in this pose. His hands are clasped in front of him and he's leaning forward, looking at the floor. This is something very meaningful for him to talk about and he's hoping Tifa doesn't brush it off, so if he doesn't look at her he won't have to see her reaction.
Tifa's obviously got her own interpretation of how that promise went. We can guess she did it because she just wanted a guarantee she'd see Cloud again some day from how she acted during the water tower cut scene. Here, she's leaning back on her hands which leaves her body language open, but also conceals something. She's looking down, the same way Cloud did. She's also hiding her true feelings towards Cloud the same way he's hiding from her, but she's being as honest as she can be as the same time. I've seen people call Tifa a liar because of how she doesn't address Cloud's memory problems in OG, but when you really take a close look at her, lying just isn't her. This is a complex moment between them. They've not long met again and they're having this heavy conversation. The feelings between them are still there, but there's all this other stuff that's more important. But, they know they're friends, and that's a good place to start getting to know each other again, and Cloud choosing to stay is that first step, with the quick follow up of him reminding her of their shared history.
Cloud, you smooth bastard I love you for this! This is definitely flirting! He's looking directly at her, then dips his head to the side in an inviting gesture. His eyes soften and he gets this tiny smile on his face. His body language has changed, too. He's sitting up and back slightly with both arms by his sides. There's no more defensiveness about him. He wants to listen to her. Cloud is choosing to ask for Tifa's confidence. He's letting her know she can rely on him. That he's interested.
For her part, Tifa's pleased, but surprised. She's not long got back in touch with Cloud and, while he's been a decent guy, she's had the overall impression he isn't the same as the soft boi she knew, so this is a revelation for her. The Cloud she knew is still within this Cloud â which anyone who knows the real!Cloud SOLDIER!Cloud storyline is exactly the point of this moment. Tifa knows his true self. The true self that comes out only when he's with her.
Cloud, bro, I'm gonna combust from all these flirty gestures! Fully open body language, a smile, teasing tone. Goddamnit, just say you love her already! Yes, please, invite Tifa to check you out. Remember, he's still sitting. He's so relaxed and natural around her. Even if all you saw was two friends and no ship, you'd be insane to think he isn't a different person in this scene. He's not SOLDIER Cloud here.
Tifa, for her part, isn't flirting here. She likes Cloud, that's clear, and her body language is reaching towards him, which suggests she has feelings towards him, but her tone is more playful and her expression is pleased. She's happy to see her friend isn't too different from the one she knows. Most of the flirting in this scene is on Cloud's side, which makes sense when you think of the torch he's been carrying for her. He's trying to get her attention, same way he did when they were kids. Tifa's oblivious but receptive because she likes him back, but she won't show it as much because she thinks he's not interested. Someone knock their heads together please lol
OMG FUCKING HELL CLOUD JUST TELL HER YOU LOVE HER! Leaning back on the bed, totally vulnerable body language, drawing attention to the bod in an attempt to spark her interest â since he's clearly interpreted this line from Tifa as a rejection â this boi is trying so hard! He even looks a little disappointed she's not more impressed with SOLDIER Cloud, but we knew she preferred the dork anyway lol
Now, I know everyone talks about the physical and emotional distance between them here, which is obvious, but what I'm gonna point out is after feeling like SOLDER Cloud has been rejected by Tifa â thanks to her preference for the real deal â Cloud looks away from her. She's brushed him off and he's hiding his upset by not meeting her eyes.
Tifa is still oblivious to this, but Cloud definitely has a look of disappointment on his face.
Now, after that last bit you'd think Cloud would assume he's got no chance, but then Tifa says how glad she is to have him back and that cheers him up. He's still in that mindset of a 16yr old with a crush, whereas Tifa's moved on. She's had 5 years apart from him (she thinks it's 7, I know, but he saw her in Nibelheim and how she'd matured a little). She's not thinking of him in an openly romantic sense, whereas Cloud is definitely still deep in his feelings for her. Hearing she's happy to see him hints to him that he might still have a chance with her if they spend more time together. His soft af goodnight is the last indicator of his strong feelings for her. His body language is open once more, he's staring after her with a longing look and a smile and doesn't look away until the door closes.
Conclusion
JUST GET FUCKING MARRIED ALREADY IT'S BEEN 23 YEARS!
Lol seriously though, Cloud is definitely still deep in the throes of his childhood crush. Tifa could resurrect hers with time because it's clear she does still harbour feelings for him, but she's not the type to be pushy or insistent. She'll let Cloud take the lead and offer subtle hints how she feels, hoping he feels the same. She doesn't pick up on Cloud's subtle flirting compared to those more in your face things he tried earlier. Through all of those interactions with her he's definitely trying to say that he likes her and he'd like her to accept his feelings, but the bigger gestures get the brush off, although she blushes and looks shy, and the smaller ones go over her head.
Unfortunately, these two are oblivious af and it's gonna take everyone's help to get them together.

I got into gmm fandom this year and I love these 2 old men extremely, and I recently read your discussions about Link's psyche and the ear biscuits commentary and I totally relate to you. I couldn't find anything that you wrote about the competition eb#255. I'm very interested in your thoughts on this particular episode since your ideas on their psychology really fascinates me. Will you please share?
First of all, thank you for your kind words!
The truth is I certainly have an opinion on the competition episode but I was hesitant to post anything about it because I wasnât sure whether that would push any boundaries. Since you asked, I am going to tell you, but I would like to stress to any MB who will read this that this theory / analysis works through a Rhink perspective or at least the perspective of an intense friendship, which I think their friendship is anyway, so you need to be in that mindset from the beginning. This is obviously my personal take on their conversation; the way the puzzle pieces fit inside my mind if you will. It can be as far from the truth as Rhink itself in general. Technically it can be read out of the Rhink lens but IMO it makes more sense this way, so Iâm gonna tag this only as #rhink.Â
Now letâs actually go to the topic in question. Rhett and Link are both competitive but in different ways and for different reasons and to different targets.
Rhett is naturally competitive. Or maybe not naturally per se, as I think this competitiveness was planted inside him by his father. His father expected him to be good at everything, an expectation that Rhett then internalized and simply never escaped from. His competitiveness might be maximized by feelings of insecurity and self-consciousness. If Rhett cares so much what people think of him, itâs only natural that he wants to ensure that people will think highly of him and that requires him to be good, look good and always perform well. The more Rhett loves and is loved by a person, heâs sooomewhat more relaxed in revealing his weaknesses. Rhett is always competitive but heâs less competitive with his close friends and family than with strangers. Rhett would take 100 defeats from Link than one from any other youtuber. And like he said, Rhett doesnât mind losing to his sons because he wants them to do well and because, duh, they are McLaughlins and they are proof success still runs in HIS family.
Link is insecure too but handled it for the most part of his life in a completely different way. I have the impression that until 5-6 years ago Link had resigned and lived defeated inside his insecurity. His own insecurity stems from lack of self-worth, which probably stems from feelings of abandonness in his childhood. Let alone that if thereâs any truth to the queer!Link theory, he also felt socially and religiously alienated from everyone around him, most importantly Rhett, and all this suffered in silence. This is why his insecurity is associated mostly with the people close to him and not strangers. Link doesnât care much if random people think poorly of him which is why heâs not self-conscious and can talk to people. But Link is hurt a lot if a person he loves a lot doubts him or mocks him or simply doesnât regard him very highly. He has a primal fear of getting taken in, abandoned or betrayed. Heâs grown to become a suspicious person, often entertaining the worse case scenario, fearing that a person he loves could actually not love or respect him back as sincerely. As an example, from everything theyâve said I have the impression Link adored Rhett when they were children. He looked up to him and Rhett was some sort of role model for him. Link didnât have many other friends and certainly not others like Rhett and the rest of his time he spent mostly alone in his home. Meanwhile, Rhett had more variety in his life: he had other friends, including Ben whom he admired so much, hobbies and an obsession with girls. So itâs safe to assume that Link was more âthereâ for Rhett than Rhett was âthereâ for him, without that meaning IN ANY WAY that Rhett didnât love him as much. But Link couldnât know that - and when Rhett was busying himself with something else, his feelings of abandonness and lack of self-worth intensified.
I think Link never escaped from these feelings. There were some GMM episodes where Link has implied that he often feels Rhett takes him for granted and shouldnât. In short, Link loathes that he feels uncertain in his friendship with Rhett whereas Rhett feels perfectly sure in it. This, especially at a point 4-5 years ago, when Link started changing stylistically and in the way he carried himself (we can only guess why), it was also the time Linkâs efforts to fight that feeling of defeat especially around Rhett reached their peak.
I trust Rhettâs input in this. I donât doubt Rhett senses competitiveness coming from Linkâs side. What Rhett might not understand is that Link is not globally competitive but mostly towards certain people, including him, first and foremost. Things such as vanity, overt enthusiasm when winning, âOOOOH HA-HA-HA-HAâ when Rhett got insulted, âI prefer time with my wifeâ, âI canât be always there for youâ, âI have other friends beside you Rhettâ are some random examples of this overcompensation that is the unconventional competitiveness Link feels against Rhett. âAgainstâ is a strong word though because I believe Link doesnât do any of this to bring Rhett down but rather to go up and be on the same level as him. NOTE: I donât believe Link is in any way lower, I believe Link fears this is the case. Link dreams of an entirely equal and balanced relationship between them, not because it isnât so, but because he has invested so much in Rhett that he constantly fears everything he can lose. He wants Rhett to look up to him, to admire him so that he can keep him, and moreover keep him eternally interested and intrigued. In short, he wants Rhett to feel the way he feels about him and he thinks this cannot be as long as Rhett takes him for granted or doesnât take his skills, mind, virtues and looks seriously. Furthermore, his tendencies to take most of the control in their job and be a perfectionist could also be connected to all that and increase his anxiety associated with the stability of their job.
The problem is that Rhett perhaps doesnât understand the motive behind Linkâs behaviour and interprets it as plain old competitiveness. Heâs however, as I felt in the podcast, troubled by it being targeted to him. A remark like âI have other good friends tooâ is something that makes Link feel more independent from Rhett but Rhett could occasionally get hurt and think âOkay but why does he have to say this to me?â.
This unavoidably is channeled in their business too. A duo of internet celebrities? Thatâs like the recipe of guaranteed failure! Even non-competitive people have destroyed their businesses and friendships this way. What Rhett and Link have managed so far is world record. Part of their success is how open they are to each other about how they feel. In fact, it was very healthy of Rhett to confess openly that he has some level of âmild envyâ about Link doing well in various aspects of the show. This means that Rhett sat down when he experienced these feelings, had a talk with himself and reached the conclusion that he was very happy Link was doing well. He just felt he had to push himself to be as good - not better -Â so that he would not feel bad about himself contributing in this show, in this business. And in short, Rhett feels he need to compete with Link in being as likable to the viewers. I consider this totally understandable.
Link was reluctant to speak openly throughout the whole episode. And that was because his answer was not that easy. From everything he said, I was positively surprised that it seemed Link has it all laid out very clearly in his mind - how he acts and why. He just wasnât willing to explain, particularly in public. This becomes clear towards the end of the podcast - when Rhett is essentially about to lose his mind because Link denies everything, Link starts to say something only to stop and decide he shouldnât do it eventually. More importantly, Link adds in the end that Rhett made the big mistake to base his understanding of Linkâs competitiveness in minor conventional things such as games and job performance. Link said that Rhett was stripping their relationship off of way too many parameters that he wasnât taking into consideration to reach a valid conclusion. So indeed Linkâs competitiveness is a very personal topic with deep roots and IS connected mostly (if not exclusively) to his relationship with Rhett. Link doesnât want to be better than Rhett either - he wants to be as good as Rhett and be liked by the viewers. Not for the viewersâ sake but in order to rub it in Rhettâs face later. Again, he doesnât want to hurt Rhett - this is likely a desire for guaranteed continuous attention from Rhett, whatever it takes.
Furthermore, Link always makes sure to draw attention from the audience as much as Rhett, if not more, (which could be fundamentally what Rhett interprets as competitiveness and doesnât know how to regulate) which is Linkâs way to ensure heâs not taken for Rhettâs sidekick (in his own words) by either the viewers or Rhett himself, because inside Linkâs full of concerns mind this hits a little too close to home.
Now, if thereâs any truth to Rhink, intensify this by 10x.

Gundam Build Divers Re:Rise
So, if youâve been here a while, youâll know Iâm a big fan of the Build Series. I even like Try, which has actually offended people. No joke. And Re:Rise is no exception, having the best story and characters in the lineup, not to mention some of the more innovative Gunpla. Itâs pretty obvious itâs the most beloved of the Build Series by the general public as well as hard-core Gundam fans, and I feel thatâs because it leaned more heavily into the Gundam side of things than the Build side, for both its ups and downs.
The Good: The story is very strong, and is able to get away with things that hampered GBF slightly and GBD a lot. It presents it mystical elements forefront and prominently.
In almost every collectibles based series, there is almost always some form of mystical element (a trend made prominent by Yu-Gi-Oh!), and both GBF and GBD lean into this to different degrees. (Actually, one of the reasons I like GBFT is because itâs the only series like this Iâve ever seen that doesnât have a mystical element.) GBFâs was pretty subtle, being presented early on and only really being used as a motivator for the Chairman and a sad goodbye. GBD leans into it a little harder with Sarah being the main focus of the entire final arc.

GBDR is able to get around this by having the entire focus of the show be about the mystical element, so thereâs no conflict between the grounded story and the abnormal additions. Also, it was just, like, really good? And I think part of that is the naivety of the characters. I was able to pick up almost immediately that everything was real, but I read a lot of the YouTube comments after each episode, and a lot of people were convinced it was just a story mission at first, with more and more people catching on as the series progressed. (For me what sealed the deal was Maiya being able to describe Kazamiâs character. A supposed NPC being able to nail the personality of a player.) Since they thought it was a game, the stakes seemed low even though we as the audience knew otherwise. And when everything came to light, not only did the stakes immediately skyrocket, but they did so believably. And wanting to help people is always a good motivation.
The animation was very good. It dove at a few points, as is not uncommon, but the overall quality stayed high. There was almost no stock footage apart from the Core Changes. And the number of cameos throughout this season, especially in the last three episodes, were staggering, but were just balanced enough to not overshadow the main cast.
Except for Kyoyaâs Cardass Finisher. Like, ok, reference, but it was, like, three minutes long.

All the characters were very good, and I feel part of that was both establishing a detailed past for everyone to help with their motivation and character growth as people, rather than fighters, and not having the main character be the newbie. Reiji, Sekai, and Riku were all new players and had to have plenty of things explained to them, whereas here all of BUILD DiVERS were either experienced fighters or builders, and Freddie, the non-combatant would only require an occasional explanation while he, in turn, explained his world to the players (a very important give-and-take). I also liked how they didnât need to spell out every detail of Par and Kazamiâs pasts. Par never has to explain how he became disabled to the rest of the team, and Kazami never vocalizes about the death of his dad. Sometimes thatâs the better way to handle things.
And finally, the Gunpla are FANTASTIC! Look, I know I complain, but thereâs a reason Iâve bought 12 Core Gundams, and will probably buy more. Each design in this series is so lovingly crafted. Thereâs a good balance of series, motif, and gimmick. And Re:Rising Gundam is such a cherry on all of it. Like, I pointed out all those oddities in my Wodom Pod review, but never did I even consider it was part of a combination. And it so encapsulates the themes of coming together this series oozes. I love it.
The Bad: But, of course, nothing is perfect. While I do enjoy the story, what sets the Build Series apart from other Gundams is its levity and light-heartedness, and thatâs something that was lacking from this season. Itâs not absent. The Space-Crossing Festival, for instance, was a great example of this, but those moments were few and far between. I think Jed dying was the moment I realized Iâd have to look at this as a Gundam series and not a Build one. Being afraid for the showâs characters isnât something Iâve had to worry about with Build. Even when Sarahâs life was on the line at the end of GBD, I knew everything was going to turn out alright. Here, though? Up until the training mission I was worried someone was going to sacrifice themselves. And itâs good that didnât happen, but that one moment put me on edge for the entire rest of the series.
And itâs not necessarily a bad thing, but itâs something I expect from 00 or Thunderbolt. Not Build.
Already mentioned the animation had its dips. I think I watched the entire show in 720p. Would have preferred 1080. Moving on.
While I donât have any real issues with the main cast of characters, I do have a few issues with Eve. Iâm not the biggest fan of how she retcons a lot of the events of the first season, having this apparent noble sacrifice that completely doesnât affect the story of GBD at all. And while I donât mind May being constructed from some of Eveâs data, I wish it was built up at least a bit? I can think of some moments in retrospect where I can suss out that maybe thatâs what they were going for, but it still felt very sudden. That could have been handled better.

And while I love this seasonâs Gunpla, there are simultaneously a lot and not a lot compared to other seasons. Like thereâs a lot of releases, but a ton of them are remolds. Twelve Cores, remember? Almost every suit got a remold. The Justice Knight and Infinite Justice, all the Eldoran and non-Eldoran counterpart units, the Valkylander and Ex are the same mold, and all the Core Armors. Thatâs probably because they used a lot of suits that are more original and are just homages rather than straight remolds, like the Build Strike or 00 Diver, but itâs definitely noticeable.

Where do we go from here: We have an official announcement of a Divers Battlogue, just like with Fighters, and we may get OVAs like the previous seasons did, too, eventually, but Iâm talking about beyond that.
After Fighters Battlogue ended, Fighters did, too. We moved on to Build Divers, and from what I can tell itâs been successful, especially this season. My worry is that with the announcement of a Battlogue, weâre also announcing the end of Divers.
Now, I donât think Build is going away, because it has its own fanbase, and itâs just good from a marketing perspective. Take some old kits, make a few new parts for them, and resell them. What Iâm worried is weâre heading to a new subtitle and a new continuity, which would be our FIFTH (Builders, Fighters, Divers, and GBGW). It made sense to end Fighters because they created a seven year time skip to explain how we got to the point of using original Gunpla, they didnât go over well, and from a writing perspective it put them in a corner. Divers was a good reboot, returning to modified kits, and giving us a protagonist who actually pilots a Gunpla he built himself (three season in). Divers also has a very large mythos at this point, with AIs, and multiple confirmed species of aliens. If you jumped ahead just one more year, you could write a great story where itâs just exploring this inter-species cultural hub that is GBN. Thatâs what Iâd like to see, anyway. If you skipped ahead just a little farther, you could have Asha, Towana, or Hulun return as our Yuma or Par for that season to connect it to the past one. Thereâs a lot of potential still there. Like, even the ending suggests they might have some more ideas for Eldora yet (whether that will be tackled in a new season, the Battlogue, or an OVA, I donât know).
You could also return to Build Fighters. Make it take place in that seven-year gap, which would allow you to have Gunpla more on the level of what we saw in GBD (more advanced than GBF, but not at original yet). Or show us the pro circuit at the same time as GBFT and how insane thatâs become. (What we see in GBFT is just the Japanâs U-19, and they apparently canât hold a candle to actual pro players. Can you imagine what Worlds would be like O_O)
Thereâs just so many new stories they could tell with what already exists. I donât want them to reboot the series again needlessly.

Also, weâre running out of headliner Gundams. The only obvious choices I donât think weâve touched yet are Barbatos, Unicorn, Victory, and Zeta.
As for my hopes for the Battlogue, Iâd like to see Maiya and Kazami go on a date, because that would be adorable. Iâd like to see Freddie pilot his first Gunpla, because that would be adorable. And Iâd like to see the gang teach the village kids how to build Gunpla, because that would be adorable. What can I say? This series got kinda dark; Iâd like some cute to balance it out.
Overall, this series was great. Favorite of the Build Series, even if it is a little more Gundam than Build. Thereâs a lot of potential still left in this universe, so I hope theyâll continue to explore it, rather than reboot the series again.

HERE THEY ARE AT LAST, MY UNDERLUST BROS AKA VELVET AND BIN YEEHAAW (ͥ° ÍÊ ÍĄÂ°) â€
Ahhh I finally finished them holy shit kefjkjffwfjk this took a bit longer than I expected but also at the same time went really, really fast xD So yeah, once again I have ended up making my own take on an au so hard that it like barely even resembles the original, because thatâs the way I roll!Â
And ya all got @insanelyadd to frikking blame because they are the cause for me suddenly getting ideas for this, like I been kind of wanting to try doing my own take on it for awhile because I got no self control but still, Goaty has been nothing but an enabling little sheit ever since this began last week so go send them some love ok UwU â€
Anyway to the bros a quick little rundown on their personalities, and then a short summary on my take on the au, will post a longer summary with way more details later but going to put it up on ao3 so ya all can more easily read it etc, and will put it in a reblog of this post later when I do.
I also want to mention that similarly like I did with MessedUpTale, so have I tried to keep like allot of original UT personalities etc in my takes on these boys and the rest of the characters in UL, while still making them their own people, but yeah here goes gonna put both the summary and the personalities under a cut bc this post is way too long already
Also suggest ya all open the two ref pics in a different tab so to be able to read what things says properly etc, and also donât tag this as ship bc this aienât no shipping here even tho I know this be UL but I donât ship it so donât tag it as such thank u UwU â€
And warning for very suggestive content etc below, and there might also be some triggering stuff maybe so watch urself ye
Ok so here are them personalities ye:
UL Pap aka Velvet:
He is very vain, pretty attention whorish he really, really wants attention and to be popular, which he is since he has gotten pretty famous for making naughty vids on the net with the energy of a youtube letâs player, but yet he is pretty insecure if people like him for him or just like him appearance wise and what he do in them vids, he loves what he do but he still got them insecurities.Â
Donât like the fact that his pupils are different sizes, and he is very keen to please like he is a very big people pleaser while still been confident he is a bit split, as he is confident but yet such a people pleaser who worries if he acts properly like himself he wonât be liked etc.
He is a switch but with a more dom side, but since he is so eager to please so does he not mind at all to take a more subbier role when doing the do.Â
UL Snas aka Bin:
A total gremlin, but in the good way, really chill and relaxed, a total prankster and jokester who pretty much never take or do anything seriously, will constantly try to con people for fun for like kisses/hugs and naughtier stuff just to see how far they will let him go with it. He is not depressed and is actually pretty happy overall, only thing in his life he got a little bit problem with is the fact literally no one, except his bro, takes him seriously, which is kind of his own fault but what can he do.Â
Is a total pillow princess who prefers to do absolutely nothing, so during boning as long as he donât really have to do anything heâs game.
Now for the short au summary:
Hundreds of years ago there was a country of wizards, who came up with this great idea of making literal living sex dolls which were called monsters because why the fuck not.
Then shit happened because the people in the country the birth rate began to go down af because everyone just wanted to bang monsters instead of fellow humans, and some humans wanted to give them all proper rights etc since technically monsters were alive etc, tension grew until it just frikking exploded as one wizard did the impossible and made two monsters been able to reproduce which wasnât supposed to be able to even happen.
So civil war broke out, the resistance for pro monsters were allot smaller and losing af so they sent the still living monsters to a far off island where they locked them up to keep them safe using a magic machine which hides them from humanity. This was not meant to be temporary but since the whole country then went and got razed to the ground af by another country and got completely destroyed so are the monsters now stuck on the island.
3000 years then passes with the monsters making a life on the island where they be evolving and becoming more sentient and actual people and not just dolls, but something strange happens one day where two humans ends up shipwrecked on the island, something that should be impossible etc.
And thatâs the quick and short af sunmary of it, keep an eye out for the longer one ye
