Midnight art rush yet again. Felt an incredible need to cook. Did I tho? I think so. I did know that I had to finish in one go tho or else I would’ve lost motivation and gave up lol.

This is based on that one song from Chicago that became a trending audio lol. In a way, they both reached for "the gun". Anthony (and Abel) was the reason the whole war in Spaceland started. On the other hand, Zenith (someone I haven't posted yet) was the one to actually drop the first bomb. I love my media where everyone is at fault and super doomed.

I will yap about Zenith and his beef with Abel in a later post, but for now you get a hand shot lol.

Behold!! The first cups of coffee we have produced in the colony!!! This is probably one of the happiest days of Mechi's life. Now we can really get started on this playthrough! his hair is so fun to draw

Mechi's ideology has one relic: a laser sword. He probably read about it in ancient surveys of this planet and decided he absolutely had to have it despite only having a melee skill of 2.

Randy decided that our mechanoid-centric colony didn't need something as trivial as electricity, so it looks like Mechi will be mining and stonecutting for a little while until this passes.

Oh, and studying The Monolith, of course.

He might hate people, but I wonder if he ever wishes there was someone to talk to about his research that wasn't an itty-bitty mechanoid.

As an elder Millennial, I need some of y'all to remember that Chainsaw Man is set in the late 90's.

This is important. Girls were "supposed" to be grossed out by sex. Boys were "supposed" to only have feelings related to sex. They were culturally expected attributes that put pressure on everyone.

CSM is living in that framework, and showing the cracks within it. It's showing us characters living in that worldview and what its effect on them are. It's showing the lie of it while staying in the era.

It's uncomfortable sometimes, but I appreciate the vulnerability. As someone who lived it, who experienced questionable consent in that era, I remember turning it on myself like Asa did.

I do think there are universal themes for teens in general in CSM. You don't have to be "old" to appreciate it. I just think it's important to remember the time it's set in before you assign labels to characters or themes.
