For those wondering what I have been doing lately: it takes quite a lot of work to fully implement an entirely new Pokédex entry. It does still take no small amount of work if, say, it has to do with a Pokémon that has been sighted before and is known to exist but hasn't been fully documented, but for... obvious reasons... the Pokémon that my friend Mallory has become isn't quite that.

(She has also been... rather busy... with that, from her end of things.)

But.

The entry is now fully public and I finally have permission to share it with all of you! Since... you could just look it up yourselves, for any of you that share a universe...

Never mind that. Please look at this! I'm... very proud of it. I think.

It is 16 feet and 5 inches tall, weighs 154.3 pounds, and has two paragraphs worth of Pokédex information included.

The first paragraph reads: Though this POKéMON was discovered recently, it possesses strong illusory powers and an undeniable connection to those long gone.

The second paragraph reads: Rumor says that MALOSS was once a human who sacrificed everything she was to return from another world, and to bear a friend with her.]

"You wouldn't understand," Light snaps, turning to rifle through the bags of blankets to find one he doesn't hate. "You were never human so you don't know what it's like—" "Explain it to me then," Ryuk urges, knocking his boot against Light's ankle. "You're good at that, ain't cha?" Light pauses, his hands half-clawed against the plastic of one of the blanket bags. He takes a deep breath and forces his hands to relax, claws shrinking back into normal fingertips. It's just...Ryuk, he reminds himself. He can be honest with Ryuk. "I want to play the game again," Light admits through gritted teeth. "I liked having him there to challenge me. Everything was so boring for so long, but then I became Kira and L came along in rapid succession, and I was anything but bored. I...enjoyed. Having him around."

Pawing through the selection, Light finally finds a satisfactory bedspread with a marbled white and gold pattern. He pulls it out and holds it tightly in his hands, lips pursed in thought. For something to explain the war in his mind.

"Imagine...finding the rarest, prettiest tiger on Earth. It's the last of its kind, and you've never seen anything like it before. You want to keep it, to get close and pet it, but you know, logically, that it's still a dangerous animal. And for your own safety, you need to leave it alone—handle it from a safe distance. But that urge, the desire to play with and be close to it, doesn't just go away. Sometimes you can't resist the urge to feed it through the bars—even though you know you might just lose a hand. Do you understand? Is any of this getting through to you?" Light glances over at Ryuk through his bangs, and blinks in surprise when he finds Ryuk's expression thoughtful rather than amused.

"Yeah," Ryuk answers after a moment, head tipped. "Yeah, I could see that."

"Really?" Light says incredulously. Suspiciously. It's not that he doesn't think Ryuk could imagine such a thing, but that sort of response implies some kind of...empathy. Which Ryuk, even as a semi-Shinigami, shouldn't be capable of.

Ryuk snorts at Light's narrowed eyes, rolling his own as he turns to look through the blankets himself. "What? We might be friends," Ryuk drawls, his smile a sneer. "But if ya think I don't know when I'm livin' with a predator, then I might just get offended. I ain't that stupid, kid, whatever you think."

Light takes a moment to digest that. He licks across his fangs, his mouth suddenly buzzing with the urge to make something bleed.

"...Where do we begin?" Maria asks, very quietly.

"I am more convinced," Solaire says, "that there is some reason Lugia is working for Team Rocket. He mentioned a secret..."

"Could be a secret she'll be angrier at us about if we uncover," Mallory says. "That a risk you want to take?"

Maria hesitates. "Not if there is another choice."

"Somehow, I didn't think you would. Weird hunch, I know."

"Is there another choice?" Dee says.

The silence, however brief, is telling.

"There is another choice I can think of," she continues. "To do nothing, and to see what Giovanni does next. Silver, how certain are you that Giovanni is bluffing?"

"I could be damn fucking certain," Silver says, "and I still wouldn't want to do nothing."

"...Ah. I see."

"Some secrets are... better left well alone," Maria says. "There is every chance that this is one of them."

"If I still had nightmares, I'd hear that monologue of yours in 'em," Mallory grumbles under her breath.

"...But even if it is," Maria continues, "Team Rocket already knows it, don't they."

"That they do," Solaire says.

"That's definitely worse than any of us knowing it," Silver says. "So... how do we figure it out?"

"I'm not sure," Maria says. "What does being willing to listen to the seafoam entail..."

"...I may," Dee says timidly, "have an idea. Though... no, that likely wouldn't be it..."

"Ideas are ideas. What is it?"

"I don't know that this would be applicable for Lugia, I don't know if human names for places would even be used by him..."

"That rather depends," Solaire says. "Some are older than others. The Whirl Islands have been called some variation of that for as long as they have been known to mortals who cared to name them."

"There is..." Dee hesitates. "In Kanto, to the east of Cinnabar Island, there is a small chain of islands known as—"

"The Seafoam Islands," Silver blurts out. "You don't think... there?"

"I don't know," Dee says. "I wish I could think of something better, truly. I'm sorry."

"Don't be," Maria says. "It is more of a lead than I have. I don't believe anyone else has had a better idea within the past several hours."

"Or any idea," says Mallory. "Dee and I only visited them briefly, and it was mostly to make sure we didn't run into you too early. Could've pretty easily missed a Rocket setup if they had anything then."

"Then it is at least worth investigating." Maria sighs. "Of course it's more islands..."

First to Fall headcanons, please? 🥺

Ahhh I'm ashamed to say that I don't really have any! Idk I've always thought of it as very standalone??? So I'm really drawing a blank here.

So many things could happen afterward!! Shigaraki and AFO are working together, yes, but Yoichi would eventually be returned to the One For All void and the holders outnumber them, so it's very possible that Izuku manages to escape. Actually, it's probable, because Toga and Spinner like Izuku and would be the first ones to know something was wrong with Tomura, so they'd be likely to help him escape. Plus Yoichi has plenty of prior experience with manipulating convincing guards to let him go, so he can lend Izuku his expertise.

The....aftermath, of everything would probably foster some strange feelings between Yoichi and Izuku. They would be far closer than they would've been in canon. Honestly if I'm being realistic there would probably be some tension there, because neither of them would want to talk about it because they both feel guilty for not protecting each other and also for enjoying themselves when they feel they shouldn't have.

BUT before all of that, I imagine that Tomura and AFO take advantage of their captives a few more times before they manage to escape. So by the time Izuku escapes he's gone from having a minor crush on Shigaraki to having very real feelings for him—which is unfortunate for multiple reasons, I imagine, but the highest of which being that Izuku is like Yoichi in that the fight against evil will always come before his own personal feelings or well-being.

He and Yoichi probably get into an argument about Izuku wanting to save Tomura, especially now that he's accepted AFO willingly into his body. (Jesus I hate the implications of that sentence thanks Hori...)

But beyond that I can't really picture how the story goes, I can only tell you how I think they'd handle themselves or how they'd feel. Maybe they fight. Maybe they don't. Maybe they turn into genderbent versions of themselves and explode into clouds of glitter before fading into the sunset. It's up to you, really!

The angst potential alone haunts me. How long do you think he waited for Ford?? When did it start to sink in that nobody was coming to save him, that nobody would miss him? Would anybody even want him back? How long did it take for his anger, his heartbreak, his grief to turn into acceptance and a belief that this was divine retribution? How long did he work, how many jobs did he take, how much wealth did he accrue, how many brushes with death did he have until he believed he’d “earned” the right to go home and see his brother?? Many such questions. I need to go deeper
