The Fantastic Fustercluck Part 4

“Strip the flesh!”

Moze, Zane, Amara, FL4K, and the two Kriegs stare in shock at Skies’ outburst. In a flash, clarity returns to her eyes and she claps both hands over her mouth.

“I did not just say that,” she mutters.

“Ooookay,” Zane chuckles nervously. “You are officially losin’ it. Ya gotta get back to Tannis.”

“No!” Skies snaps and stands up. “I can’t leave now! Not when Maya needs help! Besides, I’m better now. I just had a-a minor episode. No big deal, no reason to tell Tannis.”

“Skies-,” Amara sighs.

“Look, seeing Maya again, looking so...so real just...surprised me. I wasn’t expecting it, that’s all. I’m fine now, I promise.”

The Vault Hunters look at each other with concern.

“Fine, but if you’re not going back to Tannis, you’re at least gonna stay here for a bit and rest,” Moze insists.

“But-,” Skies tries to argue.

“We will track down Maya,” FL4K insists. “Stay.”

Without another word, the Vault Hunters turn and hurry down the path, leaving Skies alone with the Kriegs.

“You aren’t going with them?” she questions.

“We can catch up any time,” Sane Krieg replies.

Skies groans and hangs her head. “This is the second time they’ve benched me. They must think I’m a burden.”

“They’re just worried about you,” he argues, “they don’t want you to push yourself too hard.”

“Yeah. I guess I should appreciate their concern. I’ve never had too many people worry for me before.”

“You have some good friends.”

I’ve been on a bit of a Borderlands kick lately after replaying the BL3 Psycho Krieg DLC, and I’ve been thinking about the character exploration and plot continuation that was somewhat left behind due to how the DLC stories are handled. Might be tempted to write a handful of mini-fics focused around the aftermath/potential next steps for each of the DLC stories (aside from maybe Bounty of Blood, not as much to work with there). Can’t promise they’ll be ready for publication in the near future, but I’ve got a few story sequences in mind that should be interesting.

So the final votes are here for the stream on August 6th, I will have to figure out a good time to start and you all chose:

Borderlands 3!

I am honestly surprise that half of you chose this game and was expecting MH Rise/Sunbreak, but hey, nothing wrong with a little Mayhem!

And I do have all four of the DLC’s, not the second one since I wasn’t all fond of it, (which is murder mystery that a character did and little added bonus skill for each character) but I do have the Handsome Jackpot Heist, GLT: The marriage of Wainright and Hammerlock, Bounty of Blood, and the fourth one that I can’t seem to say right, but hey, our good ol’ pal Krieg will be there!

So the main plan will be to tackle the main story first, then go through the DLC by their release date.

And yes, I have beaten the game along with the DLC, so I will reset all and amp up the mayhem mode on it. And for the character I will be going with, it will be Zane

I love his dialogues since he is the funny one.

I will most likely will set the time for the evening so I can get everything ready! And if things are looking good, I will do another stream on August 7th, but we shall see how it goes!

I am just now realising that Black Widow X Hulk and Maya X Krieg from Borderlands both had so much potential as a thing before being thrown away by killing the female for no reason.

the difference between the side missions for guns, love & tentacles ( and jackpot ) vs fustercluck makes me laugh.

for krieg’s, all of them are in the same area if not just exactly the same place as where you accepted the mission. ( at least so far, just finished the locomotive segment ).

i do appreciate it, especially given how i do find the back and fourth missions a little irritating, but also i wish they were a little more difficult, yknow. sorta like the ones you get after completing the memories.

if anyone else has any thoughts to share on fustercluck side missions, feel free.

The Fantastic Fustercluck Part 1

“What is the difference between us and Psychos?”

“Um...they wear masks?”

“That was rhetorical.”

“Oh.”

Skies sits on the operating table of the infirmary in Sanctuary III, watching Tannis pace about around her. The doctor had invited her here in order to discuss an experiment she’s working on.

“More specifically, what is the different between you and I and Psychos?” Tannis continues. “Psychos have spread out around the galaxy, but they originated on Pandora. They came about in different ways- experiments, trauma, simply losing their mind. But one of their common qualities is Pandora. So why aren’t you and I Psychos?”

Skies opens her mouth but Tannis cuts her off. “Again, rhetorical. As I was saying, you and I both spent significant amounts of time isolated on Pandora. Anyone else who suffered a similar fate became Psychos, but we didn’t.”

“I surmise that my studying of the Vaults helped me from falling into Psychosis. All that time alone, I remained razor focused on my work. And that focus kept me from losing my sanity.” “Well...” Skies shrugs arguably.

“But what about you?” Tannis questions, ignoring her. “You came quite close to becoming a Psycho, as evident by your own ECHO log.”

She grabs her ECHO device and plays an old recording; one Skies made years ago, when she was alone on Pandora after Jack’s death.

“I think there’s something really wrong with this planet and it’s doing something to me. Not long ago, I was just wandering around when a band of bandits found me. There was like six of them. I didn’t think I stood a chance but when they drew their guns, something just…came over me. I blacked out. But I remember hearing a voice in my head, loud and angry, and shouting ‘kill! Blood! Kill!’ Next thing I knew, all the bandits were dead. I killed them-no. I slaughtered them with my knife. Their blood was everywhere. I still taste it between my teeth. God, and it had been so long since I’ve eaten. There really is something wrong with this planet…with me.”

“I can’t believe you have that,” Skies groans when the recording ends. “I knew I should’ve burned those tapes.

“Yes,” Tannis sighs contently. “Sometimes I like to listen to them while inside my saurian skin and drinking tea. But I digress.”

I spent way too much time on this.....

The soul of the Warrior settles itself inside Krieg's mind and lay dormant for 7 years until the events of Fantastic Fustercluck when it shows up during the battle with the Psychoweaver, with Krieg having full control over it.

boy oh boy zane headcanon time. he's really into classical/piano music (classical because in fantastic fustercluck he mentioned wanting to be a male ballerina which tends to use classical music and piano because during the eden-6 arc he says that a room full of dead smugglers reminded him of his first piano recital and because of that I choose to believe that means he can still play the piano)

this isn't set in stone, but yknow my fl4ne fankids? yeah the canon explanation behind their existence is that basically Sanctuary III was in one of those 'psysically neutral' areas tannis mentioned in fantastic fustercluck, hit space turbulence, and whoops! Zane’s a father of 4 now!

Kiwi talks about Borderlands 3: psycho krieg and the fantastic fustercluck

So, I just beat the DLC for the second time, and I just want to say...

It's an amazing story for such a game with a bunch of silly things, but to go into the mind of what a psycho is in the borderlands universe is interesting. Since I want to learn more about psychology, this gave me a bit of a reminder of what to think about or take into mind.

I'll add more onto this post when I can, but it comes to show that people who seem like they are deranged and crazy may have a totally different side to them. Most people who are quiet and reclusive are sometimes the most wise and kindest people.

This is why I do my best to give people chances and letting them try speaking.
