Back thinking about side characters again as I pepper them into these festival drabbles... something about being able to write so many vast personalities each with their own unique feelings, some of love and some of hate, and then have them contribute to the story MC is on is so satisfying. I don't like to put side characters if they don't contribute something in the end and somehow that always spirals into hours spent on various backstories LMAO

if everyone’s seen it before i don’t care, particularly if there as subtitles on, but if it’s new to me or i’m showing it to someone i generally prefer minimal talking—or at least trying not to talk over dialogue lol

another SMG4 oc I forgot to introduce, but I will introduce in the prof puzzles AU!

So his story in the AU is a lil different, in the canon SMG4, Elix became a street boxer and had MAJOR trust issues. In the AU, however, he doesn’t become a boxer and doesn’t have trust issues, but he’s still cautious when it comes to meeting people.

He’s okay with Puzzles, as long as he’s not mean to Tari, then he has no problem. He secretly listens to his rants when he walks by going to the bathroom/getting a drink.

He thinks Roxxie’s cool asf and is a huge fan of Phantom of the Opera, he’s seen it about maybe 5 times.

Facts that I did not include in the drawing:

He’s Russian on his Mother’s side, and Armenian on his father’s side.

He wants to become either an author or a journalist, he can’t decide yet.

He relates with Nicknack, having a deadbeat father. Not to mention both of their fathers are from the mafia (I think?)

He’s about 6’9.

Him and Bob don’t really like each other. (Also canon in the actual SMG4 universe.

He’s a straight ally. I’ve been meaning to introduce him for awhile lmaooo. If y’all have any questions abt hin, feel free to ask! :]

Of course, cabin 12 had been able to find themselves booze. Of course, they were throwing a party with kids from almost every cabin. And of course, some of the kids asked her to be a glorified maid for the party, knowing she likely wouldn't protest.

Glykera looked absolutely shaken. She didn't even look fully here. One of the drunken campers had tried flirting with her and was standing a bit too close to her. So far, they were only talking to her. But that didn't change the terror she felt.

This place was far too similar to where she used to live. The party was just like the ones her master would throw. And those guests... those guests were pigs. She couldn't tell if this was the Dionysos cabin or if it was her old home. If these were campers or those old guests.

(This is when she just got to camp so probably about a year prior) (also idk why it made such a big space)

Gods, what was all the ruckuss about? You could hear a little girl screaming and hollering to be let go as a satyr is finally able to get in camp. She has some decent injuries from whatever monster attacked her on her way, and she looked downright terrified.

She would attack anyone that tried to touch her, and whenever anyone asked her any questions, she would just go quiet and not answer.

"What's your name?" No answer.

"What were you thinking, staying outside without a parent in the city?" No answer.

"Are you okay?" Still no answer.

She looked to be about 11 years old. Her hair was basically matted, and her clothes were tattered and clearly too big for her. When was the last time this poor girl ate?

But to answer your question, it’s like a mix of the first one and a secret third option. Telemachus doesn’t really have a father figure to reference what he SHOULD consider a dad, in his eyes there was no place for Diomedes to take. As sad as it is, Telemachus doesn’t have an idea of Odysseus’ place as a father in his life. But, Diomedes does make it clear to him that he isn’t his dad. He tells him that a lot, never out of malice, but rather through ways in which he’s telling him of Odysseus. In a way he’s carving a place for Odysseus in Telemachus’ life, but in order to do that he does kinda have to act like something that resembles a father. He’ll do all these dad like activities, but while telling him of Odysseus. All the lessons he teaches Telemachus are ones Odysseus taught him in some way. Diomedes didn’t know what a father was supposed to be like, but he learned it from Odysseus telling him about Telemachus and stories of him and Penelope.

Diomedes is for all intents and purposes, something like a dad to Telemachus. Or at the very least he fulfills some of the roles of one. BUT, ask Diomede about it? He’ll tell you he’s not. Ask Telemachus? He can’t really give you an answer because Diomedes to him is just Diomedes (Diomedes makes this clear to him), and he doesn’t have a reference for if he should consider him a dad.

It’s complicated lol😭 But thank you for the ask! I loved elaborating on it since I find found family relationships SO interesting to talk about
