De Algemene Verwarring #100 - 30 October 2023
The hundredth episode of De Algemene Verwarring was broadcast on Monday, October 30, 2023, and you can listen to it by clicking on the link below that will take you directly to the Mixcloud page:
Pictured below is The Fall and I can't think of a better band to be featured in the hundredth (pronounce thàt) episode of De Algemene Verwarring (well, there is one other band). Anyway, here they are in their 1988 line-up, the line-up that recorded the albums The Frenz Experiment and I Am Kurious Oranj, with Brix, Marcia Schofield, Craig Scanlon, Steve Hanley and Simon Wolstencroft. The Frenz Experiment is, I think, a rather under-estimated album by the band, at least it's not mentioned that much when people talk about the best Fall albums. However it features one of their biggest hits, the cover of The Kinks' "Victoria", but that is not even the best song on the album, it has also "Hit The North", "Carry Bag Man", "Oswald Defence Lawyer" and "Bremen Nacht" and those are all classics in my ears. I got first acquainted with The Fall thanks to the Kortrijk library, where in those mid-to-late eighties I picked up copies of Perverted By Language and This Nation's Saving Grace (PBL still being my all time favorite Fall record). In general, the Kortrijk library had an excellent selection of vinyls in those days, I owe a great deal of my musical memories to them. In the nineties I kind of lost connection with The Fall, it was the period that they incorporated more electronics into their music which didn't appeal that much to me and in all honesty, in the nineties I was more of a hipster indie boy listening to Sebadoh and Palace Brothers. I came back to the band in the noughties when they released excellent albums such as Fall Heads Roll and Imperial Wax Solvent, and finally got to see them live in Porto, of al places. Anyway, The Fall, probably the best band in the world, had a great influence on my musical taste, I still got lots of love for repetitive music (be it from Swans or from Lungfish or even Emeralds) and Mark E. Smith is a fookin' legend.
So, episode 100 is filled with 22 cover songs, featuring "Victoria" by The Fall, amongst others. I've added the band who recorded the original version in the playlist. Hope you enjoy it. And thanks for listening 100 times to my "duiding". And beneath the photo you can find the playlist for this show. Enjoy!

2019 October 7-12 Head, Cold
“There are in fact two things, science and opinion; the former begets knowledge, the latter ignorance.” Hippocrates
Cleaning out my closet, found old 500mg niacin, took 1, went to bed, hot, headache, that dream about sleeping; next day wake, hydrate, read ARTICLE and it says helps with zyx ways... including vascularity and arthritis, my middle finger is rusty from the decades long zero fucks given, and niacin aka B3, can flush the face, but so does too much pre+workout powder, it's not for everyone and some PWO tolerance is first, but there's also B-sups like "5hr energy" and I wrote this last year didn't I ...and the article relates about, pain of hands of constriction, and in 12+ rep rows some hand pain occurs, but without hand crunches resistance gains just didn't culminate, I did jump when realizing it was a new PR.
Also, woke up with an earache that didn’t end until oil, dried out possibly from too much B-complex, emphasis possibly because, next day ear is better, but nose is runny and dry, while both runny/sneezy unless outside cold 40F, or inside 95F, better if i put chapstick on, dry right? So I take some pharmacy syrup, eat, conk out, wake up, and the B-complex has decided to start digesting and cold/warm confusion, best to keep temperature, just right. So read the rest knowing, ear nose and throat about to go under the weather with head-cold.
#1.27? (slow:lite)
Treadmill 20 >> Shoulder press 3x 8 /10305070 >> Cable front *8/51015 >> Archer *8/15202530 >> Chest press *8/90901113 >> DB incl *8/(2)45505560 >> Pec Deck *8/7085,100,115,13,145,16 >> Dips *8/888-8 >> Tric ext *8/3030454560- >> 1arm pulldown *8/12,1722 >> Push crunch *8/111111"13-15- >> Crossover *8/152025- >> Treadmill cooldown
F! mould in the AC, been eating vegetables and coffee to breathe, slow-heavy, but should've been slow-form, mañana lite-slow,
#2 Lite Pull /lb
Treadmill incl 10min/ >> Straight arm PD *7/(1)10,20*6 >> Palms-In Pulldown *7/ 200,85*4,100*2 >> Cable row *7/15202530355065 >> Lats *7/2*456075,90 >> DB front Raise 5,10*3,15*3- >> Delt Deck *7/ 55*3,70*3,85-s >> DB Shrug x7/60*7s >> Straight bar curl *7/2030,40*3,5060 >> Preacher Curl *7/30,45*3,60*3- >> 1arm prchr hmmr *7/30*7 >> Treadmill null -
Best delt-deck, worst single curl, and not the best pulldowns. Veggie chips and rest before helped. Again, removing mold is great IDK how long 3 months maybe, summer, and had a great session overall; w/o x6 sets, decided x7 would be better and 7x7 became par // allergies fuck workouts, bad circulation, bad air flow, it had gotten to me not able to taste and adding salt to everything, then immunity dropped and recover increased, and pacing recovery might become comprehensive cutting, could peel arms in maybe 2 weeks so hoping theres some BMI redux. --- good constriction in lat-wide w single pulldown, smith-shrugs, but need to work on my pronate grip strength with the squeezy FOR REPS, DUDE
>>>
#3/48 Slow Legs /lbs
Treadmill / 20 >> Dmd 10-20x6?/10*6 >> Rev-row 100/40lb >> Treadmill / 20 >> Pshps 10*6 >> Rev-row 100/50lb >> Treadmill 15 >> Pshps 10*2/10*4 >> Rev-row 100*60lbs, third day, but PR eh?>>
:cardio burnt allergic contaminants, let’s see if it burns fat, cardio isn’t skipping leg day.
HIIT 5minutes is too long, or maybe stairs or ellipticals for variety sake; hypertrophy time because of climate, will be good to cut a little and then cardio some, and only strengthen core during reverse row and push-ups, btw can do push-ups again the tearing healed weeks ago, but the mold from the pillow in the closet for cats doot burn that must've locked them in before, just gonna eat some raw burger like it's ice cream, served properly with hot sauce and lemon idk, tried diamond push-ups after a Kai Greene vid and wowzers. Unrelated, if you peak, switch focus: cardio, resistance, or hypertrophy.
>>>
#4 Lite Push tot/lb x ct
Treadmill 10min >> Cbl lat Raise (back3) 60/5lb/x1010,1010,1010 >> DB front Raise 60/5,10/10,10*5 >> Shldr Press 60/10,30/10,10*5 >> Chest press 60/70,90,11/1,4,1 >> Pec deck 60/*10/7085100,115130145 >> X-over 60/15,20,25/2,4,2 >> Tricep ext 60/ 30,45/10,10*5 >> DB Bench 60/(2)25/10*6 >> Pulldown /253035/10,10,10*4 >> Rev-row (hold10th) >> Treadmill null
Collectors and yammerers, long session, but kinda chill/mental, the profit margin is the only margin? Absolute zero, stone sour, choreography, cire, lyrics
#5 Slow Pull /lbs
Treadmill 10min >> High Row *7/25303550656565 >> Neut lats *7/70,85*2,100*2,120*2 >> Lat Pulldown *7/75*2,90*2,105*2,120 >> Low Row *7/35,50*3,65*3,80 >> EZ Curl *7/20304050606060 >> Smith Shrug *7/ 50*2,100*2,150*3 >> Pec Deck >> *7/85,100,115,130/145,160,175,190/205+220- fna >> Prchr 1-Arm *7/203040*3,50,65 >> Prchr hmmr *7/15"4,30*3 >> Rev-row *7/110*2,130*2,150*2,170- >> Treadmill null
500mg niacin / rockstar lite;
Later session than normally so, headphones broke, walked 5 minutes in basketball clothes at 40F (close to freeze) and gusty, nice b/w winds, 5min back, vitamin B plus cool, pec deck PR by 2 plates, 30lbs,
#6 Lite Legs tot/lb x ct
Treadmill 20 >> Pushups 10*6 >> Rev-row 40lb*100 >> Treadmill 20 >> Pushups 10*5. >> Rev-row 50lb*100? >>
Vit B stirring up some motivations, helping detoxify maybe, but is making me dry, want bacon, and burning stubborn fat and metabolising ketogenically, but keto isn’t the same as healthy meals so
