A little more from the revealed Ducktales Bible Pitch, where the first image from Joe Pitt shows The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck as it would be in his Ducktales and it would approximate the Don Rosa comics.
The second and third pictures are shown by Becky and Frank (the other Frank, not the Angones) to represent Magica de Spell and John D. Rockerduck in their version of Ducktales. While Magica looks a little weird (as do the other characters in that version), Rockerduck looks perfect and it's a shame that version wasn't adopted.
The fourth image shows the Leprechaun by Mark McCorkle and Bob Schooley attacking Scrooge and Donald's nephews and what Ducktales would look like to them. Also their version is promising, although I would have preferred if they had put hair for Donald's nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie as they have in the comics and in OG Ducktales, rather than as they have in Mickey Mouse Works. Certainly the fifth picture shows that according to them, Donald's nephews would be significantly different from Ducktales 2017 by Angones in the sense that Huey would be the leader triplet, Dewey the brain triplet, and Louie would be shy and the moral compass, but he would love animals. Sort of like a Quack Pack. Certainly interesting versions.
In my opinion, the best is Joe Pitt as well as versions from Italian comic artists and writers who wanted to realize their own comics. It's unfortunate that those ideas were rejected. I wish they could make an animated adaptation of those comics, but unfortunately I highly doubt it because Disney focuses too much on some dumber stuff. But again that's just my opinion.

Do Scrooge and Drake get along with each other? Do they fight over you?
I dunno. I don’t think they’ve ever really met. Drake’s not one for socializing much. Mr. McDee’s a pretty busy man and so is my buddy, Drake, what with being a dad and work and all…
Gosalyn reminds me of Mr. McDee’s family sometimes. I think Mr. McDee would say she reminds him of himself too at her age, hehe. They’d argue over money for sure. And, well… Me, I guess. Gos and Drake wouldn’t like hearing how Mr. McDee talks about me sometimes Then again, Drake’s not always the nicest guy to be around either. But it’s no feathers off of my back. I can take a kick at my ego now and then. What really matters is that they still care about me. I know they do.
As for piloting, I still take Mr. McDee on trips around the world at times, when crime’s going slow, or he needs a bit more muscle. But I closed Air McQuack for good and moved my baby, the Joyrider, back to my parents’ hanger. Not much point keeping my own hanger anymore when I’m never there! Hehe.
#Launchpad 1991 answers#Launchpad’s double life#He was out of town a few times in DWD so I headcanon he was with Scrooge and fam then or back home#or who knows. Maybe the Duckburg Intelligence Agency or SHUSH have him another mission! Or he visited other global friends. Busy guy!

Ducktales (2017) Holiday Headcanons:
It’s that time of the year again, time for me to dump a bunch of random headcanons! All of which relate to the holiday season cause I love this time of year!
Huey holds the record for most homemade Christmas presents given during the holidays thanks to his JWC skills. Webby is second
Louie wishes that homemade gifts were banned in the gift giving circle.
Dewey always hosts his annual Dewey Dew Night Holi-Dew Special in the Foyer in front of the Christmas tree, much to Beakley and Scrooge’s chagrin
Donald always insists on being the one to decorate despite the many accidents and holiday slapstick he gets involved in every year. They say, the amount of Holiday Slapstick Donald has been in could fill the entire ABC Holiday Special line-up
Now that Santa is no longer banned from McDuck Manor, he always stops and says hello the Duck family on his yearly delivery. Scrooge occasionally joins him and sometimes Scrooge’s Christmas ghost friends help out too
Bentina Beakley always makes the best hot chocolate with the right amount of marshmallows
The kids always go sledding with their friends on Killmotor Hill when the snow is perfect for sledding
Della still puts up a couple of traps every year “for old times sake”. The traps then immediately get taken down the very second Donald gets caught in one of them
Webby is the best gift giver
Huey, Dewey, and Louie got their “Picture with Santa” poses nailed
When given gift cards that are $15 or less from relatives, Huey, Dewey, and Louie will sometimes agree to combine their gift cards to buy something they all want
Drake, Launchpad, and Gosalyn are Jewish and all celebrate Hanukkah but one of their yearly traditions is watching The Darkwing Duck Christmas Special because Drake and Launchpad insist on watching it every year
Gandra Dee doesn’t celebrate Christmas, in fact she’s entirely anti-Christmas, but still chooses to celebrate Christmas with Fenton and his m’ma cause it beats being alone
M’ma Cabrera definitely watches a bunch of Hallmark Christmas movies. So do Huey Dewey and Louie. Also Donald. You know what, especially Donald
Donald’s favorite Christmas movie is It’s A Wonderful Life. It gets him emotional and he always breaks down when George Bailey is proclaimed “The Richest Man in Town”
Della’s favorite Christmas movie is Die Hard. It was her favorite pre-Moon, but the whole John McClane going through hell and trying to make things right with his family just hits a little too close to home these days. Also she says she could totally go through what John did
Dewey’s favorite Christmas movie is Home Alone. In fact he has even set-up a few Mccalister style traps in Donald’s boat house before. They weren’t perfect but they still worked on Donald. He was not the intended target.
Huey seems like A Charlie Brown Christmas kinda Duck
Both Donald and Della know it was Dewey who traveled back in time that one Christmas. Only problem is they don’t know what year it was he went back in time. They just assume it must’ve been on Christmas Eve cause that’s when they saw him. So now until Dewey looks a little bit older they will always be sure to greet Dewey with a mysterious “Welcome back” that sounds like it has multiple meanings whenever they see him after not seeing him for at least 5 min. on Christmas Eve. It’s a bit odd for Dewey to experience, ngl
Dewey and a few other family members will visit Launchpad and co. in St. Canard during one of the nights of Hanukkah to celebrate with them
Matilda always goes to Castle McDuck for the holidays
Donald usually sails back to Duckburg for Christmas, but on the years he can’t Della makes it her duty to FaceTime him on Christmas Eve
And now: The Worst Gift Givers of Clan McDuck
5. Louie, he’s a kid so I’ll cut him slack, but he should put more effort in his gifts. But he won’t
4. Goldie. Don’t ask her why the store security tag is still on
3. Gladstone Gander: King of the Last Minute Gifts, he’s lucky enough to get good deals that cost him next-to and sometimes nothing. Unfortunately the quality of gifts are Acceptable.”
2. Gyro Gearloose. Just seems like someone who sees something and goes “Well that’s fine enough.”
1. Scrooge McDuck. Rich people suck at giving gifts. It’s a commonly known fact
Also this whole post was a ploy to read my holiday theme DuckTales anthology fic that shows some of these headcanons in action. Enjoy!

I'm new to your Tumblr blog and I wonder how Gladstone and Mortimer met.
Well, I normally answer these with art but I just gotta be a real nerd on this one and tell you the canon events which THAT could have happened
• Great Valentines' Ball (1982) - B 820041
Gladstone and Mortimer both steal Mickey's and Donald's pairs (to the surprise of none). I know it's just a little thing but the fact that they were on the same party AND same page of a comic does make me scream. Yeah it's just a detail but does put a smile on my face and shows EXACTLY how they can be the same and how they have the same trope as well.
• Duckburg's Carnival Party (1982) - B 810236
If I had a nickel for every time Gladstone dances with Daisy, leaving Donald angry and Mortimer dances with Minnie, leaving Mickey angry, both at the same big party in Duckburg— I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.
• House of Mouse (2001)
Gotta say it is my personal favorite. Mortimer frequently hangs out in the place and by Gladstones' cameo appearance in the episode "Goofy for a Day" in the Penguin Waiters advertisement, shows that he was there at least once and yep- that's more than enough for me.
Sure I like them a normal amount
#inbox#mortimer mouse#gladstone gander#disney comics#ah yes the crumbs of characters that never interacted#also both comics are brazilian and I confess that it was such a surprise to me#not only that but Mortimer also shows up a lot in the brazilian comics??? up to 74% with 102 stories according to inducks???#i have no idea why

Honestly I think the best way they could have integrated Della into the comics is for her to be a character that only shows up for special issues.
First off, let’s just establish the unspoken requirements that must be met for Della’s existence:
1. She can’t be dead, because that’s too sad. These stories are for kids, remember!
2. She can’t be around, alive and well, either, because then it wouldn’t make sense for HDL to continue living with Donald if Della is there, and that would mess up the status quo. You can never change the status quo, especially a fact so important as “Donald is the triplets’ guardian.”
3. But she can’t be a bad mother or a bad person either! Again, that would be too sad for a Disney comic!
And that’s the reason Duck comic writers have simply ignored the concept of Della entirely, because it’s practically impossible to meet all these rules at once. They just pretend she doesn’t exist, and never existed in the first place.
And then That Comic happens. The 2014 Dutch Della Duck comic. It provides the story that Della is currently traveling in a rocket so quickly that the last (however old the triplets are, minus a couple of months or so, given they were babies when she left) years have only been 15 minutes to her. She will stay in space for another hour before returning home, not knowing it will actually be a few decades. The triplets don’t tell their mother about her situation for honestly no good reason, but that’s a different post.
This story meets the Della Requirements! Della is a good mom, she is alive, but she also isn’t coming back anytime soon.
But it’s still a pretty sad outcome, in my opinion, because Della is unknowingly stuck in space decades, and she’ll miss her children’s entire lives. She can never show up in stories.
I’ve thought of a better way to fit Della into the comics and meet the Requirements:
Just have her be working all the time as a pilot. She’s flying around between different countries all the time, so she leaves the kids with Donald. She could even be a military pilot, if they want to do that. And she can come back to Duckburg when she’s on leave/a break, and we can have a story with her in it every so often, but not so often she’s a main character. It’s the best compromise, I’m telling you.
She’s alive, she’s a good mom, and Donald still gets to be HDL’s main caregiver.
Anyway I’m tired so this might be worded awkwardly in some places and be rambly.

I was just in an art exhibition and I saw a painting from 1902 and I had to resist the urge to tell my dad everything Scrooge McDuck did that year (he left the klondike, came back home to Scotland rich, left Scotland for the third and final time, moved to Duckburg and had a whole fight with Theodore Roosevelt, the navy, the marines and whatever more Roosevelt threw at him). Overall the art was pretty cool.

"Now I've had the time of my life No, I never felt like this before Yes, I swear it's the truth And I owe it all to you"
This is a very, very special drawing for me. ✨
In September of last year, I watched Dancing With The Stars' "Step Into the Movies" special again, at the end of which they recreate "The Time of My Life" scene from Dirty Dancing. And that sent me on a nostalgia trip back to my high school theater days over a decade ago now, where the drama club accepted my idea to do a "Time of Our Lives" theme, and a performance for that song à la Glee. Mind you, I was mainly the stage manager/techie sort, but I did some scenes for the showcases, and participated in this song with my then-boyfriend, along with two other couples.
And while we were hanging out in the green room backstage, a friend took some pictures of us. Including the one that directly inspired this drawing of Webby + Lena.
This started out as a memory remix of that photo, after watching the DWTS special, because I thought these two lovebirds would be really cute subjects for it.
But once I got going, it turned into a love letter, for many things.
As part of the remix aspect of it, I now picture myself in Lena's spot in the photo, getting to have the short hair I wish I had had back then, and getting to wear a suit and tie! (Yes, in the original photo, I am wearing the dress and red bow Webby's sporting here, and I have long hair. 🙈 Though I will say here that the little heart necklace she's wearing is exactly like the one I had, too! :)) Drawing this was really cathartic for my nonbinary self. 💜
And as for Webby, in this remix, she represents someone that, in retrospect, I wish I had shared this moment with from back then. In many ways, she really was the Webby to my Lena. 💜💖💝
(Literally) beyond the subjects of this though, this is indeed very much a love letter to a lot of things, to passions. The background is pretty much a replica of the drama classroom wall we were in front of for the photo, at least as far as layout goes, with a few direct recreations of things that were on the wall and on the table there. Everything else was me being a passionate (theatre) nerd.
(Details (many details) of said nerdiness and alternate versions below the cut!)
I've included un-blurred and background-only versions (and a version with drop shadow lines on the girls, because why not? it's a cool effect!) below, but I just want to point out the details, because I'm so dang proud of this.
The posters/programs for The Phantom Blot of the Opera, Featherspray, Chickago, and My Fair Dewey are obvious duck-parody references to their real-world counterparts (with the latter being the exact poster they use in DuckTales, in Dewey's dream in "Nightmare on Killmotor Hill!" So thanks, Dewey! 😂). The Featherspray one was also included because Hairspray was one of the shows we did in high school! And lemme just say, creating theater posters is really fun!!
The MJ the Musical poster and the half-shown Notre Dame de Paris "Duckbill" right behind Lena's head are particularly special to me, since they (along with Phantom) are my favorite musicals, and getting to draw those two was especially fun!
The L'Orange Theater poster in the top-right is a bunch of duck easter eggs in one - the L'Orange Theater is mentioned and seen in the very first episode of DuckTales 1987, and of course, there's Aquarioon from DT17! Looks like it toured in Duckburg a long time ago. 😉
And the sheet music is the DuckTales theme! (Or at least the left side of it :P)
The "Congrats" card, calendar (the whale for upper half was my own touch), folder, page of random backstage stuff behind Lena's head (which includes little Star Trek and Darkwing Duck references), and golden "Theatre" card (with my old director's favorite quote) are directly from the photo (or at least based on what I could see through its blurriness 😝), as is the very edge of a cast photo in the upper-right. The purple note (totally not with any secret messages whaaaaat) below that, the certificate of excellence, and the little pride heart pins everywhere are little garnishes/dedications. 😊
The stage/theater diagram below the certificate is really cool, because that's a direct recreation (+ another hidden message) of a project a friend and I did for stagecraft back in our freshman year - I was even able to copy my own handwriting for the labels! 😄😂
The "Time of Our Lives" poster is a reference to the showcase I mentioned above that inspired all this, though the real-life poster looked very different, from what I remember.
The green bag below is sorta a nod to the secret pal exchanges we used to do during shows. 😉
And finally:
The Glittering Goldie show poster is me just having an absolute blast drawing her once again and coming up with something for her Blackjack days! And bonus - I'll be posting a gradient-only version of Goldie tomorrow! Really happy with how she turned out!
And the "All the World's a Stage" poster is me combining all of my theatre nerdiness with my passion for space and a good pun! 😁
ANYWAY...
I learned a lot with this drawing, about creating and about myself.
And I just had so, so much fun with it - it was all love, all passion, all happiness for this one. 💜💖💝
Wishing the same for all of you. ✨
Love, Astro 💜
#DuckTales#Webby Vanderquack#Lena Sabrewing#weblena#my art#long post#I just have a lot of feelings for this one 🥹#(the post itself kinda is a love letter? for future me as much as past me and present me. yeah let's go with that)#for real though still cackling over my design for the Phantom Blot of the Opera poster XD

Shoutout to my best friend Donald Duck...
Because today is his...
🎉🥳!!!BIRTHDAY!!! 🥳🎉
I'm already on my way to Duckburg to spend the day with my favorite feathered friend, but I thought it would be fun to talk about him on here.
Donald is truly one of the best friends you could ever have. He's been with me through thick and thin and is someone I could always rely on. We've been on so many great adventures and made so many precious memories. I kinda feel like I've known him for like 90 years or something, ha ha.
What I always loved about Donald is just how fun things get whenever we're together. Donald tends to be a bit of prankster which usually gets him into trouble, but usually makes things interestin'. Things are never boring when Donald is around. I always feel like I can bring out my more playful side with him.
But I think the thing I admire most about him is his resilience and dedication to his family. The world constantly seems like it has it out for Donald at times and yet he always manages to pull through. It truly feels like nothin' can knock him down. And the fact that he deals with all of this, while also takin' care of his family. He's done such a wonderful job raisin' Huey, Dewey, and Louie that I am just in awe.
He's such an inspiration to me and I hope he knows how much I care 'bout him.
- M.M
