AU where Rhaegar slew Robert at the Trident but Kingslanding was still conquered by the Lannisters, with Tywin Lannister claiming the throne for himself.

Queen Elia and the little Princess were killed, Aegon was swapped and brought to Essos.

Ned went to the tower of Joy to retrieve his sister, but has to conspire with Ser Arthur Dayne to get her newborn son to safety after she dies in childbed, as the boy is thought to be the crown prince now.

Rhaegar, now twice widowed, meets again with his siblings Daenerys and Viserys in Essos, eventually being joined by Jon Connington and Prince Aegon.

Ser Arthur Dayne takes his sister and Jahaerys, to Essos to reunite him with his father.

Ashara, who lost Brandon's child, nurses J(on)ahaerys and comforts Rhaegar, eventually becoming his mistress and then his wife. They have a son called Baelor.

Jaime Lannister is relieved of his duties as a Kingsguard by his father and becomes the crown prince and Cersei has been married to Willas Tyrell.

A marriage is arranged between House Stark and House Targaryen in secret to join their forces. Sansa is to meet her groom in Essos.

When Robb Stark marries Margaery Tyrell and Cersei Lannister is accused of incest and foisting Jaime's children on Willas, an opportunity reveals itself for the Targaryen King in exile to regain his throne.

Whenever I see a post about Chief Hiccup (or watch Httyd 2, for that matter) I'm always reminded of how Stoick did not want his son to become chief the way he did.

Maybe it's because Stoick saw his reluctance to succeed him, maybe it's something Stoick went through himself when he became chief and he wanted to spare his son the pain, but he had a plan. He was going to retire. Step down and let Hiccup take over in his stead. That way, his father could ease him into this insanely big responsibility, could be there to guide him, help him with the tough stuff he knows Hiccup might have trouble with.

Except, then he dies at Drago's hands. And Hiccup ends up thrusted into a position a feared to be in. And yeah, he does it mostly alone, just as his father did before him, which is exactly what Stoick was hoping to avoid.

TG stans: “The Great Council of 101 called by King Jaehaerys creates a precedent for males to inherit the throne.”

And King Viserys’ decision to name Rhaenyra his heir and have the Lords of the Realm swear oaths to her, creates a precedent for women to inherit the Iron Throne as well.

I fail to see why a decision made by a King should take precedence over a decision made by a different King.

Where there is no written law (as was the case with who ascends the Iron Throne), the King’s word is law.

With each of these sets released, I wanted to compare them again.

Like I've mentioned before, EX-03 Draconic Roar, EX-05 Animal Colosseum, and EX-06 Infernal Ascension are based on the Pendulum Progress vpets from 2002. Animal Coloseum kept the name as is, Draconic Roar was Dragon's Roar, and Infernal Ascension replaced the name Armageddon Army. (A very understandable name change)

A large percentage of the Digimon featured in the Pendulum Progress versions were included in the respective card sets. Many of those who weren't included had similar replacements.

As the name suggests, Draconic Roar included many Digimon related to dragons. Since many main character Digimon fall into that category, frequently featured Digimon such as the Greymon line were exluded. This set's Agumon is yellow and the suggested line goes to Veedramon and AeroVeedramon, reminiscent of the V-Tamer manga. Veemon is red in this set, and instead of the usual Ex-Veemon we get Fladramon, along with purple Wormmon and Shadramon, going into a dark Imperialdramon line. Instead of Tyrannomon and MetalTyrannomon, we have DarkTyrannomon and ExTyrannomon too. This set also featured many dragon Digimon that have debuted since the Pendulum Progress, such as Dracomon and its two lines, and the Vorvomon and Jazamon lines from Digimon Links.

The Pendulum Progress Animal Colosseum contains many beast Digimon, notably the Four Sovereigns. The card set expanded on that and not only included the Four Sovereigns, but also their leader Fanglongmon, as well as all 12 Deva serving under them. Like the vpet, this set also featured many X Antibody Digimon, although many of them were switched in the card set. Such as Leomon being included instead of Leomon X, or Dobermon X instead of Dobermon. We also got the card debut of Lunamon and Coronamon and their respective lines, as well as the player chatacters from their debut games Digimon Dusk/Moonlight and Dawn/Sunburst!

Infernal Ascension has a dual theme of Angels and Demons. While the Pendulum Progress included all Three Great Angel, there was only room for two Demon Lords. For the card set all Seven Great Demon Lords got featured (and also received matching alt arts!) Many of the replacements also make sense. Instead of Terriermon and Siesamon we got Lopmon and Turuiemon leading into Antylamon. While Tsukaimon works as a replacement of Patamon in style, it isn't in the Angel lines. The role is instead filled by Luxmon, a very recent addition to the Digimon franchise. Same goes for ArkhaiAngemon taking MagnaAngemon's spot, and Dominimon finally getting recognition! The addition of Mastemon is just perfect for this set too. We also get some holy-themed Digimon from the chinese game New Century for the first time!

So yeah

I just think it's fun to look at these Theme Boosters and compare what they kept, what they changed, and what they expanded upon. Goes to show how much our list of Digimon has grown in the last 20 years!

Phaesus

He is not one to lie in grass and dirt, serpent he might be, but Gwyn is there nestled amongst the moon glossed flowers with stars in her eyes.

“Would you care to join me?” She asks.

“I am no stranger to dirtied hands but to lie in the grass like some—some—”

“Cur? Wastrel? Heathen?”

“I was going to say worm but any of those will do.”

“I know. The ground is certainly beneath you, surely.” She smiles at that, overly pleased with herself. “But if you get dirty, I will draw you a bath, my lord. Scrub behind your ears even.”

The prospect of that appeals to him more than she realizes and he pushes aside the disdain for the ground and finds himself lying next to her, staring up at the dark, starlit canopy.

Another pleased grin and she points. “See that smattering of stars there to your right?” She speaks an elvish word that he doesn’t know. “The dragon,” she translates.

He squints and tries to piece some sort of imagined picture with a line connecting stars in his head but he simply doesn’t see anything. Let alone a dragon.

“My childhood memories are filled with my father, pulling me up the ladder to the rooftop of our home. The sights stretched on as we kept watch over the goats, defending them from wolves and singing them lullabies until eyes grew heavy. Whilst they slept, we would take to stargazing. And I believe, if my memory serves me correctly, that pocket of stars is the dragon. But, in all honesty, I could never really see what he saw.”

This makes him smile, brief and fleeting. “Lovely story, but I see no dragon.”

“Really? No dragon at all? Fie, I must’ve pointed out the wrong ones. Oh well. I suppose that family tradition started and ended with me.” She chuckles to herself. “What of you? Do you recall any fond childhood memories?”

Phaesus sighs, pausing as Gwyn focuses her gaze on him. Tucks an arm behind his head. He has not thought of his childhood in what feels like eons, let alone memories he is fond of. Every one of them feels tinged with touches of sadness. Broken memories. Broken bodies. Heat and flame and fear but he dives past all of that, pulling his father’s smiling face from the debris of reveries.
