Her fingers nimbly undid the clasps of his jacket then stripped both it and his shirt from him. She felt the breath hitch in his throat before his greedy fingers began roaming. He smashed his lips against hers, parting them with his tongue. He could taste the bitterness of the poison coating her lips. 

He broke away for a moment, catching his breath before cupping her chin between his thumb and index finger. “You ought to know better than that by now. I’ve built up an immunity to all your favorite poisons.” 

Her lips flicked into a wicked smile. “It wasn’t for you.” 

Gortash immediately understood her meaning. Someone had to die tonight. “A gift for your father?” He licked the remaining poison from her lips. 

“No,” she scraped her sharpened nails across his shoulder blades, drawing blood, “a gift for you. You can only climb so high as there are rungs on a ladder. I’ve just cleared the way for you.” 

“Mmmmm,” he murmured into her neck. “I thought I told you the patriars were off limits.”

“No one will think twice about an older human passing peacefully in his sleep tonight.” 

“Perhaps.” He gently kissed the tender skin of her throat then trailed his lips across her freckled shoulders.  He should have been angry, he should have been furious. This was a clear breach of their agreement, and yet all he felt was desire, a need that was so very unquenchable. The taste of her skin was nearly enough to make him rabid.

Two Worlds (Thurs IQIYI) ep 4 of 10 - I don’t say this often but I LOVE this love triangle. The longing gazes = chef's kiss. I like that we are finally getting flashbacks to Tai’s side of the love affaire. This show remains highly engaging. So pleased for MaxNat.  

Deep Night (Thurs iQiyi) ep 5 of 8 - More lesbians! Yay! Meanwhile, when our leads make up they make out! (Yes I’m proud of myself.) I think this might be BLs first rooftop sex scene. We’ve reached new heights, BLabies. (Yes I’m proud of that too.) Anygay, basically a soap opera at this point, I'm not thrilled but I don’t mind.

City of Stars (Fri iQIYI) ep 10 of 12 - It was lovely. Very well done celebrity leaving the closet ep. Nice ensemble work too. Next week is doom! As expected. 

Only Boo! (Sun YouTube) ep 1 of 12 - New main couple for GMMTV in an idol romance about a boy who dances good and a food stand vendor. It’s fine but overly very pulp feeling for something from GMMTV. I'm a little concerned.

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

Unknown (Taiwan Tues YouTube & Viki) ep 7 of 11 - Qian was, indeed, the one who couldn’t let go. This show is fucking fantastic. It's the best thing I'm watching right now by a mile.

Jazz for Two (Korea Gaga/grey) eps 3-8fin - The bully and the blue-haired drummer side pairing were great. I hated the father. Hated him so much. Our main tsundere seme was a bit too tsundere for me. I was v annoyed by the time he finally softened. I'm amused by all the ways they finagled boys kissin-but-not-kissing in the first half of this show. 2024's "pan around the back of the head" has now become a "dipping of the brolly." We did, however, eventually get an okay kiss.

Honestly?

This was basically what I wanted from Given and didn’t get. So I’m pleased. The music still wasn't great, but you can skip those bits. A solid enemies to lovers BL, where the sins of brothers' past haunts the present. Great optics, decent chemistry, and a tidy script even if tsundere characterization went a bit extreme in some cases. 8/10 RECOMMENDED trigger for suicide

Love is Better the Second Time Around AKA Koi wo Suru nara Nidome ga Joto (Japan Weds Gaga) ep 5 of 6 - We got the past betrayal in detail and it was decently bad. Bitterness understood. Too soon to live together! The BL U-Haul strikes again. I do like their weird curry passive aggressive argument. This is an interesting show. Do I LOVE it? No. But I think I like it.

On a not-really-related note: adoption, including adult adoption, is actually pretty common in Japan (comparatively). It's often tied to business scionism.

My Strawberry Film (Japan Thurs Gaga) ep 8fin - It all turned out to be a tragic GL in the end. Not BL = not my problem. No rating. I will forget its existence right about… now. 

Love is like a Cat (Korea Mon Viki) eps 1-2 of 12 - Okay, weirdly kinky with the head scratching. Not much has happened and I’m not wild about what has.

Looks a bit like the Kiss series but everyone is queer. I'm IN but I need my other computer and I'm traveling as usual. So I'll get caught up next week and probably won't regularly be able to watch this one.

Graduation Countdown (Taiwan YouTube) - It's too much for me to keep up with 2 minute verticals, I don't have that kind of TikTok endurance training.

A Secretly Love (Thai Sat WeTV grey) 10 eps - Completed. Worth watching?

Lady Boy Friends (Thai WeTV grey) 16 eps - reminds me a bit too much of Diary of Tootsies only high school. Not my thing. DNF unless it turns a corner and is truly amazing.

Kiseki Chapter 2 (Sun iQIYI) 6 eps - It’s so boring DNFed at 2.

Close Friend Season 3: Soju Bomb! (Weds iQIYI) 6 - The problem with situational comedy BL is it must be situational, comedic and a BL. This show gets 1 of 3 claims correct. 33% is not a passing grade. Dropped at 3.

Then Next Prince turned out to be a trailer only. Word on the webs is we will be lucky if we get it this year. It’s BL Princess Diaries. Jimmy has a new pairing (that boy from Night Dream) which is... interesting. All in all, this show does not look good. Pretty but not good.

4/12 Living With Him AKA Kare no Iru Seikatsu (Japan Gaga) 10 eps - Kindly Ryota goes off to uni only to find his new roommate is his childhood bestie, Kazuhito. Kazuhito doesn’t have a girlfriend and Ryota tries to help him figure out why, they fall in love along the way. Same director as Old Fashion Cupcake.

4/18 At 25:00, in Alaska AKA 25 Ji, Akasaka de (Japan Gaga) 10 eps - Yuki lands his first starring role in a BL drama alongside superstar Asami (previously his senior at uni). Said superstar suggests they form a sham relationship until filming concludes. As they actually begin to fall in love, the spotlight begins to burn. I think I've seen this before (joke) and also the trailer doesn't inspire confidence.

4/26 My Stand-In (Thai iQIYI) 12 eps - adaptation of Chinese novel "Professional Body Double" by Shui Qiang Cheng. Stars Up (Lovely Writer) and Poom (Bake Me Please) directed by the same team as KP (not a recommendation IMHO - my biggest criticism of that show was the clashing directing styles). This one looks well complicated, lemme try: Joe is a stuntman for famous actor Tong. Joe falls in love with Ming but Ming sees Joe as nothing more than a Tong-replacement. After learning this horrible truth, Joe dies. Joe then wakes up in the body of another man also named Joe. He manages to rebuild the same life as before—with the same people eventually re-meeting Ming. Ming wants Joe back but Joe doesn't understand why. But Ming seems to know what's going on and wants to give him some kind of explanation.

I'm exhausted just trying to describe the plot.

The thing that bothers me about people trying to declare that Blaze and Silver have a sibling relationship in Sonic '06 is that the way Blaze says "you're still so naïve, but I...I've always liked that about you" is just so incredibly weird to say to someone whom you consider like a sibling.

No matter how I slice it, it's giving flirty vibes. Not to mention the music gets so playful after quoting Silver's main theme when he asks "you're my friend, right?"

Blaze: "you're so naïve. I've always liked that about you."

Honestly, if I had the time, I would strain my ear to transcribe the music in that scene because the chromatic variation on "Dreams of Absolution" by the orchestra has a really romantic musical tone which reminds me of the song "Shulk and Fiora" from Xenoblade which is a chromatic variation on the main theme (the harmonica in that is, mmm *chef's kiss*).

And the parallel between Silver and Amy where she said she would choose Sonic over the world while Silver wasn't able to choose the world over Blaze. Silver was so ready to end one person to save the world, became conflicted when Amy challenged that, and was willing to sacrifice himself but he couldn't sacrifice the one closest to him to save the world. She had to make that choice for him.

The tragic romance is absolutely there. It's fine to have headcanons and not like a particular ship, but trying to call it "problematic" by pretending it's something it's not is just so pathetic.

I'm legit so hungry for tragic Silvaze. Give me the bitter sweet sadness. Doomed by the narrative. Legit "Your Name" vibes.

The Unbinding of Wicked Things

Mile High Paranormal struck it big as one of YouTube's premier ghost hunting shows of 2021, but following the tragic death of one of its beloved hosts, sibling producers Nick and Kim decide to pull the plug on their beloved post-college project. Determined to go out in a blaze of glory and amidst the throes of internet notoriety, Nick devises the perfect plan for the perfect series finale: an investigation at a location so remote and obscure not even locals dare speak of its existence. Beyond the idyllic hills of Moorwich, England stands Blackthorn Manor, an ancient manor house whose shuttered doors keep the still-festering secrets of the Middleton family locked inside. Rumors of missing children, witchcraft, and illicit familial affairs plague the manor grounds and the neighboring village, dooming any family who dares take up residence on the land where blackthorn bushes grow. Fortunately, the MHP Team does not believe in the paranormal. Unfortunately, vivid nightmares of burning alive and episodes of misplaced time begin to affect Nick during their stay. Phantoms now stand outside the inn's windows, and bipedal hounds chase him towards a monster that screams its lament in the dead of night. The thing about Nick Miller, however, is that he would do anything for the content.

The Unbinding is an Adult genre fusion of gothic horror, dark romance, and "epistolary prose". It is also a fake memoir. Kind of like a burrito wrapped inside of another burrito.

Some influences behind the story include Crimson Peak, House of Leaves, Demon Theory, and I hesitate to list Episode Thirteen because that book actually came out after I wrote this, but it has a very similar style (which is in part why I ended up shelving this project for so long). Some less serious influences are Ghost Adventures, Grave Encounters, and a bunch of other ghost hunting related media. I'm just a huge sucker for that kind of thing, okay? I also love fucked up family dynamics, hence why gothics are just so *chef's kiss*.

The cast is mostly QPOC which means the story includes instances of homophobia, transphobia, racism, and general bigotry. Other trigger warnings include themes revolving around suicide, dysphoria, and plenty of death. But this is an Adult Horror, so like, bad things should be expected. Bad tings can and do happen. Explicitly.

Lastly, the tag for this project is "wip: the unbinding". Mostly for my sake.

Kdramas I have watched

118. Lovely Runner

I have to first say I had zero interest in this show. I had read the synopsis, and didn't want to watch another high school + time travel show. I wasn't very familiar with the cast either so I had no intention of watching it. But then everyone online was raving about it so here we are.

I was hooked on this show from episode one, I even stayed up later than usual to watch (so glad I didn't watch as it aired) I really can't explain why I was so engrossed in this show ..maybe I grew attached to the characters? I just could not stop watching.

The show had a pretty simple storyline but it was the comedy and romance that I really enjoyed. The humour was right up my alley and there were many scenes that had me cracking up. I love shows where the couple are destined to be together and we got that and more with all the different timelines ❤️ The leads were so chaotic (in a good way) and dorky and I just loved them.

This is the second show I have seen Byeon Woo-seok in and he was amazing, he portrayed each emotion so well and his comic timing is *chef's kiss*.His expressions were on point and I'm surprised he hasn't been a lead in more shows. Kim Hye-yoon was excellent as well and their chemistry was 🔥

I also loved the relationships between Sol+Tae-sung and Sun-jae+Tae-sung. That bromance was hilarious.

This show has one of the best endings ever! We got all the fluff we could ask for and the ending wasn't rushed at all.

My only gripe is the villain...I was expecting some sort of motive?

Anyway, shout out to the white truck of doom.

I highly recommend this show, I can see myself rewatching it very soon.

Based on these media reviews, it seems like most critics are having issues with Jamie Lloyd's style of directing and presenting of the R&J story. 🥴

I thought he got pretty good reviews for "Sunset Boulevard', so it's kind strange that this R&J play of his is getting such mixed reviews. 🤔

Well.... at least Francesca is getting good reviews for her acting..... She got SO much hate for this role, that for her to be getting the BEST reviews out of the entire cast is really ironic and chef's kiss 🤌🏾

Jumping on the "re-listening and rating each song on all the 11 albums" trend, because it sounds fun <3. I'm starting with Debut! Disclaimer, I'm not rating the pop mix of Teardrops On My Guitar because it's just a remix, and it shouldn't have existed!

1. Tim McGraw. "He said the way my blue eyes shined put those Georgia stars to shame that night. I said, 'That's a lie,'" is quite a way to open your first album! I think it's underrated as hell, considering it's August 1.0 with the themes of doomed summer romance and hoping he'll look back fondly on her. It's still my favorite on Debut! Rating: 10/10.

2. Picture To Burn. I get why she might not be fond of this song anymore. After all, it is very much a petty teenage diss track, but it's a banger. And who hasn't wanted to erase the memories you have of someone you ended up hating? Rating: 8/10.

3. Teardrops On My Guitar. I get why some people might not connect with this song, I think that in order to fully appreciate it, you need to have once been a 15-year-old with an unrequited crush (and have listened to this song around this time) or have a blorbo who's a teen and has an unrequited crush. As someone who had an unrequited crush on a guy in my class when I was 15/16, that song hit back then, and now it's just a trip down memory lane, so I'm quite fond of this song and I think it has some gorgeous lyrics. "The only one who's got enough of me to break my heart" is easily my favorite lyric from this song. Rating: 8.5/10.

4. A Place In This World. Cute song, but I think the production is stronger than the writing here tbh. It's quite similar to The Outside, though I'd say APITW is more of a reassurance to her lonely self, whereas The Outside is her being more urgent about her loneliness. That being said, I believe The Outside does the job better, but that doesn't mean I dislike A Place In This World by any means, it's just not a favorite. Rating: 7/10

5. Cold As You. Absolutely deserves its spot as Taylor's favorite from Debut. It has some of her best lyrics from her earlier work. I'm still waiting for her to mash this up with Tolerate It on the piano... 😁. Rating: 10/10

6. The Outside. This song is for the people who were lonely in middle school and high school. You either get it or you don't get it. Rating: 8/10

7. Tied Together With A Smile. This one is a bit of a hit or miss for me. Not so much of a miss, more like "If I'm not in the mood, I'm a little bored during it." That being said, when I'm in the mood, it really hits. The lyric about giving love away like it's extra change is *chef's kiss*. Rating: 7.5/10.

8. Stay Beautiful. It's adorable, and I love the bridge, but overall, it's kinda just there for me. Rating: 6.5/10

9. Should've Said No. An absolute banger... ate and left no crumbs. I honestly think it should've been the enduring Debut hit rather than Our Song tbh... Rating: 10/10.

10. Mary's Song. You all be like, "Love when Taylor is on her storytelling mode," but then sleep on this song. Rating: 8/10

11. Our Song. It's a great song, but I think I overplayed it a bit. That being said, it should've been on the Eras Tour setlist. Rating: 8.5/10.

12. I'm Only Me When I'm With You. It also should've been on the setlist, such a banger! Rating: 8/10.

13. Invisible. I don't dislike this song at all, but I'm kinda confused as to why it's here when it's basically Teardrops On My Guitar 2.0, but not as good. I never really listen it to tbh :/. Rating: 6.0/10

14. A Perfectly Good Heart. Did this need to be on the album? I'd replace it with Sweet Tea and God's Graces because it feels like a full circle moment, considering that the album starts with her hoping her boyfriend will remember her fondly once summer ends, and Sweet Tea and God's Graces is about her looking back at all she has learned from that relationship and since then. So, holding out hope it will be the closing track on Debut TV 🙂. But back to APGH... it's not as bad as I think most people claim it is, but it's not really particularly good either. It's there, I guess. Rating: 5/10.

In Which Tony Stark Builds Himself Some Friends (But His Family Was Assigned By Nick Fury): Series by scifigrl47

Reasons why I love it: If you've been in this fandom for any amount of time, you've probably read or at least heard of this series. For good reason too, because scifigrl47 created an absolute masterpiece here. It's still ongoing, so I'm only going to be commenting on the complete works, but either way this one is definitely a must-read.

Some Things Shouldn't Be A Chore

Pairing: Steve/Tony, Clint/Coulson Rating: T Words: 22,187 Tags: Humor, Fluff, Sentient Toaster

Summary: Steve takes things like personal responsibility and respect seriously. Tony's got people he pays to take care of that kind of thing, and anyway, he's pretty sure that he's going to die of some exotic disease in his workshop, because Dummy's still a little spotty about what is 'clean' enough to put on an open wound. The rest of the Avengers are in this for personal gain, except for Clint, he just enjoys being a dick. And some things shouldn't be a chore.

Reasons why I love it: Aaaah Tony, my love! The characterization feels so real, the humor is top notch, and the hurt/comfort is chef's kiss! I love this fic so much, definitely give it a read!

Ordinary Workplace Hazards, Or SHIELD and OSHA Aren't On Speaking Terms

Pairing: Clint/Coulson, pre-Steve/Tony Rating: M Words: 25,992 Tags: Humor, Pre-Slash, Roomba Army of Doom

Summary: Tony Stark has once again engineered something that might well lead to the downfall of Western Civilization. No one's really surprised. This time, however, it might just be the lesser of two evils. Clint and Phil hate playing pickup, but damn, Clint loves the Roombas, and damn, Phil loves Clint, though he's not really sure why sometimes. It's time to play Hide-And-Seek with hostile robotic AIs in the SHIELD home office.

Reasons why I love it: I ship Clint/Coulson to hell and back, so I squee every time I read this one. Clint and Tony bickering while being BAMFs is always a win, and who doesn't love Coulson and Steve freaking out over their loved ones' safety? A wonderful fic laden with action and comedy, go and check it out!

Four (Or Five) Reasons for Kidnapping Tony Stark

Pairing: Steve/Tony, Clint/Coulson Rating: T Words: 78,101 Tags: BAMF Tony Stark, Kidnapping, Team as Family

Summary: There are four reasons for kidnapping Tony Stark. Tony's sick of all of them. Well, there's potentially a fifth, but it's highly unlikely that Captain America will suddenly fulfill THAT fantasy. Tony's deeply disappointed about that. Steve Rogers, as always, is oblivious. At least, that is, until someone who isn't him kidnaps Tony. Then he's just pissed.

Reasons why I love it: This is one of the first fics I read in this fandom, and it's what drew me into the whole world of Steve and Tony in the first place. I love the asymmetrical storytelling, the suspense, the drama, the angst, the humor, the resolution, all of it! The plot is so fricking creative, and the fact that all five reasons for kidnapping Tony Stark are explored in such a varied way just wows me. One of my favorite fics of all time!

Dating The Long Way Around

Pairing: Steve/Tony, Clint/Coulson Rating: M Words: 66,979 Tags: Dating, Humor, Domestic

Summary: Tony Stark was pretty sure the Universe had it out for him. Call it karma, or the natural balance, but on occasion, he had a sneaking suspicion that for every good thing that happened to him, something bad was waiting around the corner. That being the case, his first real date with Steve Rogers would probably lead to something disastrous. But in that he was, in fact, going on his first real date with Steve, he wasn't sure he cared. Steve was certain he didn't. It's a Thursday night in New York City, what can possibly go wrong?

Reasons why I love it: The team being dorks about Stony's first date? Steve being an insecure wreck? The FLIRTING?!?? Hell fucking yes to all of that!! And when the plot hits, it just takes the fic to a whole other level. I love it to bits, and I think you will too!

Things Unseen (That Are Captured on Film)

Pairing: Steve/Tony, Clint/Coulson Rating: M Words: 42,476 Tags: Fighting And Making Up, Domestic Avengers, Developing Relationship

Summary: In which the Avengers discover the video footage of Tony testing the Iron Man armor, and that goes about as well as it could be expected. Reasons why I love it: If you sometimes get that itch of 'oh man, I wish character x would react to that thing character z did', then this one is for you. I absolutely love the idea of everyone watching Tony's reckless tests and being appropriately horrified. Plus, the following conflict and resolution is written beautifully, so yeah, definitely give this one a read.

Reasons why I love it: Ladies and gents and my non-binary friends, we've got angst! Clint's struggles are so visceral that I get completely sucked into the fic, no matter how many times I read it. It's heart-breaking and lovely in equal measure, and the resolution is worth all the pain. Clint is one of my favorite characters, so the way his trauma is explored in this fic is just incredible to me. Definitely, DEFINITELY check this one out!

Ch 20 has haunted me for weeks. Everything about it was so perfect but ofc the mullendowski drama was *chef kiss* it was everything and more. You're absolutely exceptional in building up drama because that chapter had me in a chokehold.

The last line for example absolutely destroyed me. I had to put down my phone and process it for a minute. It felt like my own heart broke. It felt like I got cheated on. And that's what brings me to your ask box.

There's this song called "Llueve Sobre La Ciudad" by Los Bunkers. I don't know if it's the direction you're characterizing with Marco, but I could not stop listening to it while thinking of him. Idk it could be because there's a certain emptiness (and perhaps defeat?) in the song that reflects their relationship. Marco just feels like such a doomed character and I tend to associate this song with a doomed ship so yippee!!

dedicated to @yuikomorii (I've been meaning to write this one bcos a friend of mine challenged me to write a fluff modern au Kanato plot, so I've pitched this idea to my mutuals @whitechocolatemochaasblog and @crookedherringcolorclod and I am glad this plot is still kinda intact with his bratty and petty self)

btw credits to @nutaella-kookie cause I took inspiration from her dating kanato sakamaki post (you should read it guys, the writing is just... chef's kiss I swear she also has a lot of pretty fun headcanons)

NOTE: the pov is mostly based on Maya since this was originally a Kanato x Maya plot but feel free to insert yourself or whoever you want; and yes the ages of the characters are kinda older

CONTEXT: Kanato studies forensic mortuary science while taking up a few business classes cause Karl forced him to do so; the fem!reader is in culinary arts but focuses more on pastry

-it wasn't like Kanato was looking for a relationship or something since all his romantic affairs are doomed to fail from the start bcos he is annoyingly clingy and overly jealous, leaves a lot of messages and missed calls—practically a sour patch kid of a boyfriend who's extremely needy (you might as well date a kid 💀💀💀)

-ofc he can be closed off... but he turns to this possessive guy in a blink of an eye and yes Ayato and Laito tell him abt it but this purple kid's bubbled up in his denial world like his word is absolute

-either go date or go home (I suggest you go home jk)

-tho however Ayato suddenly brings up the topic of Kanato dating you and his reason is you two practically knew each other (since your dad and Karl are BFFs and business partners); second, your height just goes well with his and your grunge pastel soul complements his victorian goth ass kid persona so might as well dominate the world, huh?

-just to clarify, you ain't friends with the triplets; they just know you as their dad's friend's daughter who goes to the same univ and reads mangas during free time

-so anywaaaaaaaays

-ngl Kanato thought abt it since they knew you ever since they were like grade schoolers or something; but the thing is, you're their dad's friend's daughter and they always see you at formal parties they're forced to attend to and if you two break up, it will be more awkward for him cause he has to see you (plus there are times you go to their house to deliver some of your dad's paperworks/gifts)

-ofc Ayato knew Kanato would say no so he went on with: "just have a trial date with her and see if it will work; if it doesn't, then nothing's lost since you two aren't in a relationship" blah blah

-the offer doesn't so bad so Kanato went in for the kill, and yes don't ask where he got your number cause he just freaking texted you out of nowhere and told you to go meet him at the university cafe (read again, he told you; not asked so... see where this is going?)

-yeah anyways you went there and met him up before your afternoon classes; you two weren't much of a talker anyways so you just went on with the silence by calmly ordering your usual matcha frappe while he just stares at you like a praying mantis 911 send help

-and while you were sipping your frappe, he just dropped the bomb like "let's go on a trial date, Y/N-san" (yeah you almost choked on your frappe upon hearing that)

-"why?" "you don't seem so bad"

-and yeah he explained abt Ayato's idea and he saw nothing wrong abt it and you are not allowed to say no after the effort he made abt finding out your number and waking up earlier just to wait for you in the university cafe like those scenes in romance mangas

-deep inside, you were like "what a thoughtful prick" (an insult and a compliment tho)

-so you two agreed on that trial date, plus you find him kinda cute (but not physically, it's more like a funny, amusing cute bcos you sometimes make fun of him in your head despite being annoying like this:)

-in fact you even told him that you had a small crush on him ("I like you, though." "Hm. Why?" "Because you're funnily cute.")

-so yeah you were on this trial date relationship thingy for like almost a year (you think it's long but gurl it ain't for Kanato and his massive trust issues) and things were going pretty well; like even if there were minor disagreements and some of his mini tantrums, you two were able to make it work

-besides your calm and humble personality just kinda matches with his hotheadedness (hence why you're still "alive" despite him having those annoying fits); tho you might remain calm but when Kanato teases you, you turn into this blushing, stuttering mess

-and for some reason, he was willing to reenact your fave scenes from those mangas (how romantic, right???)

-so Kanato decided that this trial date turned to be real this time around, but you're still on a summer vacation somewhere in Hokkaido so he opted to wait for you to return to Kaminashi before finally asking you out

-one time Kanato was out with Ayato and Laito at the mall cause Laito saw this one store that sells discounted vintage CDs and he was in dire need of a new show to watch bcos this one murder docu series decided to say goodbye

-so after they bought their CDs, they passed by the train station and saw some random guy confessing to a girl; Kanato thought it wasn't anything new... until he heard the guy mention your full name

-like this: "You're Y/N from Ryoutei University, right?"

-and then he saw you nervously fidgeting as your hands gripped the handle of your luggage cause you weren't used to strangers suddenly approaching you (and he found it odd cause you're supposed to be back at night but here you are at Kaminashi at 3 fvcking pm in the afternoon)

-"I always see you with your friend at the nearby bookstore, and I thought you're cute... and you've been on my mind lately. W-Will you go out with me?"

-"But..."

-"Uh... do you have a boyfriend or something?"

-"... I don't have a boyfriend."

-and the guy was so overjoyed while Kanato was just still in his spot, eyes wide as he watched the scene before him unfold; but yeah you still rejected the guy, but for some reason, he was kinda "mad" at your answer like why did you tell that guy you are single as a pringle?! (even tho you rlly don't have a boyfriend!)

-Laito even fueled the fire by saying "aww did she just indirectly reject you, Kanato-kun? how sad"

-Kanato was so bummed abt this rejection that he started ignoring everyone at the household (even locking himself in his room more than usual)

-what's more, he jabs at Ayato like "this is all bcos of your small brain and stupid idea"

-and when you got back home, you texted Kanato that you're already back from your trip; people would think he's finally gonna talk to you abt it

-but you know what this purple gremlin did? he fvcking ignored you,

-like put you on read or whatever; he didn't care if you were calling or texting him cause he doesn't wanna talk to you until you know what you have done to him

-but the thing is you have no idea he was so mad at you cause you thought he was just busy or something (well it took like 2 to 3 weeks before Yui told you that Kanato was mad at you cause he hasn't been getting off Ayato's case bcos of you apparently)

-so one time you went to their house and you knocked on his bedroom door, ofc he said get lost but you just casually opened it to see him setting up his room for his murder docu series marathon with a large tub of ice cream on the side table while Teddy was comfy on his couch (his room screams goth meets harajuku pastel vibes)

-ngl Kanato had this nagging happy feeling when he saw you but he was just adamant on getting you out of his hair while you were just being worried and a bit stubborn cause you wanna know why he was so upset with you

-"you're smart right? why don't you figure it out then"

-and all hell broke loose cause you two had a shouting fit (you rarely shout but you did this time)

-"IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT! YOU TOLD THAT GUY AT THE TRAIN STATION YOU DON'T HAVE A BOYFRIEND!"

-"W-WHA—HOW DID YOU—BUT I REALLY DON'T HAVE A BOYFRIEND!"

-"Oh no, you don't."

-and the next thing, Kanato swiftly held your wrist and pulled you close to him, kissing your lips to release this frustrating feeling he's been having for weeks now (and yes you kissed back to seal the deal)

-one thing led to another and yeah no words were needed to confirm that you two had already gone past the trial and went with the real one

(admin summer: hmmm the ending was kinda lame and open-ended tho)

BONUS:

Kanato was sitting on his couch, munching on his tub of ice cream while watching the murder docu-series he bought a few weeks ago. When he heard movements, he looked over his shoulder and saw you quickly getting dressed, gathering every item you left in his room before turning to him with a blushing face as you said, "I... I'll be taking my leave."

"There's no need to hurry, you know," he pointed out, returning to the show he was watching. "Besides, it's past 6 already. You can stay the night."

You were quiet, agreeing with his suggestion as you slowly slumped down on his bed. There was a comfortable silence lingering in the air, the question of "are we dating now" hanging at the back of your head.

This 80s masterpiece is a smart political satire/social commentary disguised as a comic book/action revenge movie that interweaves hilarious dark humor, ultraviolence and science fiction in a simple yet seamless plot. It will honestly SHOCK you just how much it has to say on American evolutions in capitalism, media influence, desensitization to violence, gentrification, and our perception of heroes, each in service of a greater conversation about identity and culture.

Atonement

I consider this film the pinnacle of an angsty/doomed romance executed perfectly on-screen: the performances, the cinematography, the music, EVERYTHING!! Funny story, me & the girlfriends went to see this in theaters expecting a typical period romance; left completely snot-dripping, bawling our eyes out. I shit you not, i felt the utter devastation from this film for WEEKS

Amelie

If there was a film to define the term "whimsy" then this is it!! Its so creatively rich, with such a fun and sweet art style in the characters, the way its filmed, the music, the romance- it'll make your heart ache for days.

Inglorious Basterds

I'm a big whore for Tarantino ever since Reservoir Dogs, but I consider film his ABSOLUTE masterpiece. The comedically distinct characters, the sharpness of dialogue, how he builds up the tension of scenes to the point of explosion with just a simple conversation- *CHEFS KISS*

Children of Men

This dystopian sci fi drama was made in 2005 but with all the social commentary woven into the background of the story, it is eerily topical in today's tumultuous political & social climate (which is very telling about us as a society I suppose). The director Alfonso Cuaron is a master at "show don't tell" filmmaking and it SHOWS. Also the tracking long shots in this film are something to witnessed, beheld even. Masterpiece.

Bridget Jones' Diary

My absolute FAV romantic comedy, i totally relate to this bumbling, epic disaster of a woman, even more so now that i'm 30+ like her. Fun fact, the plot is heavily inspired by Pride & Prejudice which is probably why i love it so much. Also Colin Firth 🥵 (which leads me to another fun fact- he was cast as Mark Darcy mainly due to the author's crush on him from his portrayal of Mr. Darcy in the 1996 BBC miniseries which put him on the map, and rightly so. I know the film adaption is super popular, but any P&P fan NEEDS to watch this version, so so good)

Chicago

This musical ruined all theater musicals for me forever- the film adaptation is THAT good!!! The spectacle, the numbers, the PERFORMANCES- Catherine Zeta Jones slayed as Velma Kelly (also my ovaries), i love it so much that i watched it 3 times back to back on a flight i honestly couldnt get enough lol

Kung Fu Hustle

This film is Stephen Chow's magnum opus- an action comedy that blends kung-fu and all sorts of historical chinese references and homages of the directors favorite films, you can tell the passion and the fun that went into making this film and it really REALLY shows. I consider this a perfect execution of what a live-action anime could be, this film is an absolute blast and classic

Annihilation

I've got a bit of a cosmic/existential horror kink (where a form of media makes you question the world/life as we know it or triggers an existential crisis) and this film gets it RIGHT. It's a philosophical sci-fi thriller but is so much more with its themes of pain and identity, exploration of humanity's disposition for self destruction but also its unsettling visuals and soundtrack. Funny story, the sound design is so alien/unsettling that it spooked my cat from her nap and got her staring at the screen with wide eyes and an arched back trying to figure out what the eff was going on (me as well).

Also love how its an all female cast but its never mentioned in-film; just a bunch of capable women going to take care of business (i didnt even notice until my 2nd watch)- im a fan of this approach as it in effect "normalizes" this scenario whereas calling it out as if its special just highlights how it's an exception...anyway, its a horrifically beautiful film.

Sicario

Denis Villeneuve can do no wrong in my eyes (nor cinematographer Roger Deakins), a beautifully shot thriller that serves as a social commentary on how laws are meant to be broken, lines are drawn and then erased when convenient, as long as it serves a so-called greater purpose, that keeping a moral code is a futile effort. Brilliant performed and written, nuanced characters, glorious cinematography and a killer soundtrack (RIP Johan Johansson), A+++++

So, my upcoming angst-riddled doomed Soriku fic is heavily inspired by the themes and lyrics of My Chemical Romance's first two albums, however, this song probably most perfectly encapsulates the general vibe I have in mind for it. Lines like 'I will see you in the next life' are just. Chef's kiss.

It's a bummer that the official release removed the verse that I personally love (you can find the piano demo on YouTube, 'beautiful angel, pulled apart at birth' is a great line - especially for MY purposes - but alas). I still decided to post this version over the OKNOTOK version because I love the harp and choir, very much adds to my Guardian Angel AU
