Purple Roses: Chapter 3

I finally decided to go to a teacher after the second rose appeared. They told me they’d help me change my combination and look into it, but I had a feeling they weren’t serious about the last part. I covered my lock every time I would unlock my locker now. I wouldn’t even let Akio near enough to see. I still didn’t trust anyone. “Have you told anyone?” He leaned on the wall next to me. I saw him glance at something down the hallway before turning back to me. Did he know something? I discreetly followed his gaze, but I didn’t see anyone. 

“I talked to a teacher, and they said they’d look into it… What were you looking at?” 

He narrowed his eyes with a smug grin on his face. “Thought I saw someone peeking from the corner over there.” He pointed in the direction I looked.

“Did you see what they looked like?” I asked while glancing over my shoulder again. 

“No, sorry. They stepped back before I had the chance to look.” He rubbed the back of his neck with a smile. “I’ll see you around, okay?” 

“Yeah, see you.” I watched him walk off while glancing at the corner he claimed to see someone. I cautiously walked in that direction, peering down the hallway. Whoever was here was gone now because the hallway was empty. I turned around to suddenly see Akio standing behind me. His chest was inches from my back, “Akio! He laughed, “I’m sorry. What were you doing anyway?”

“I was talking to Ruki, and he claimed to have seen someone peeking out from this corner.” I leaned back against the wall with a sigh. 

“Did you see them?” 

“No, they’re always just out of sight. I don’t know what to do. The teachers haven’t done anything.” I felt hopeless. Even if I changed lockers or my combination again, it wouldn’t matter because they were still watching me. I felt a tear fall down my cheek while lost in thought. Akio held out his arms to me like he was asking permission. I just ran into his embrace while sobbing. This was so stupid. I was crying over these stupid flowers. Akio stroked my hair to console me as I gripped onto his uniform jacket. I missed my old school more than ever. I missed my friends. I missed not having to feel so paranoid while walking down the hallways. Everything I was holding back was just spilling out. I wanted to go home.

I stayed with Akio for a moment, trying to calm myself down. I still had my last class to get through plus clean up. In the last five minutes of break, I washed my face. “I have some information regarding your secret admirer.”

I glared at his nickname, “Are you going to tell me who it is then?”

After cleanup time, I headed to classroom 2-A to meet Laito like he said. I waited for about five minutes, “Where is he?” I asked myself. 

“Miss me?” I jumped at the sound of his voice. He was sitting in one of the desks with his legs crossed and his chin resting on his hand. 

“Not in the slightest. Who’s following me?” I was getting angry. I’ve had enough of their little games. 

He rolled his eyes, “Not one for suspense, are you?” 

“I think I’ve waited long enough,” I dug my nails into my palm. My knuckles were white from how clenched my fists were. “Tell me who it is or I’m leaving.”

“I think you know who it is,” he smirked. 

“It’s Kanato, isn’t it?” He just kept giving me that annoying grin. “Why?”

“I don’t know. Why don’t you ask him? Better yet, expose him for what he is.” That thought did seem tempting. 

“Why are you telling me this anyway? You’re his brother, aren’t you?” I eyed him suspiciously. 

“Yes, but we’ve grown apart over the years unfortunately.” He stands up and walks over to me. His hand rests on my shoulder as he whispers in my ear. “Plus, with him out of the way. I can have you all to myself, little bitch.” 

I pushed him away in disgust. “Don’t you ever touch me again!” I screamed. I was shaking in fear and rage from his words. I ran out of the classroom, hoping to catch Akio or even Ruki before they left. Sure enough, Akio was there at his locker. He was just closing it when I ran to him. I was out of breath, and he seemed to notice I was in distress again. “Akio, I know who it is.” 

“Who is it? What happened? Are you okay?” His hands hovered over me like he was trying to console, but avoided touching me at the same time. 

“It’s Kanato. He’s been following me and putting the roses in my locker. Laito told me.”

“Sakamaki Laito?” Akio asked in confusion. “Why would he expose Kanato like that?”

“He said they aren’t very close,” I explained. 

“What are you going to do now?” 

“Confront him.”

Akio’s eyes widened a bit beneath his messy bangs. “I don’t think that’s a good idea, Lila. Sakamaki Kanato tends to be a little unstable. I would tell a teacher first.”

“But I don’t have any proof it’s actually him! I just know what someone else told me, and that’s not good enough. I need a confession.”

“I’m just worried what he’ll do if you attack him like that,” Akio sighs. I could tell he was frustrated with me, but I wasn’t going to back down. I was tired of feeling helpless. I just wanted my life back. 

I couldn’t sleep when I got home. I was pacing my room while planning out what I’d even say to him. Thinking of a response to every single reaction I could think of. Going through every possible outcome in my head until I spiraled down into the most illogical scenarios. My stomach was in knots and I felt like I couldn’t breathe. I tried to ground myself in every way I knew how. Washing my face, taking a shower, breathing exercises, but it’d all come back to another panic attack. Before I knew it, I had to go back to school. I was so tired that I debated on saying I felt sick, but I knew I’d drive myself crazy if I stayed home. I put on a brave face before heading inside, praying there wouldn’t be something in my locker again. There was another note taped to my locker door. Same child-like handwriting as before:

Something about those words sent shivers down my spine. I put the note in my bag as evidence for later along with the other one he wrote. Maybe they could match his handwriting if he denied the accusations. I wasted no time heading to my home room. Adrenaline was rushing through my veins as I approached the purple-haired freak. I slammed my hand down on his desk in an attempt to intimidate him. He just gave me a wide-eyed stare with his head tilted. “Stop following me!” I yelled. I could feel the eyes of the other students in the room, but I didn’t care.

“Don’t play dumb with me! You know exactly what I’m talking about! Your brother told me!” I could hear people whispering now. Kanato kept his expression calm, but there was something in his eyes that terrified me. 

Suddenly, he frowned and looked like he was going to start crying. “I didn’t do anything! Leave me alone!” He yelled, burying his face into his teddy bear. I couldn’t tell if his reaction was genuine or not. Part of me fell for it and felt bad for yelling while another part knew that he was faking. I didn’t know what to do, so I just sat in my seat while people were staring at me. I swallowed the lump in my throat. I felt sick to my stomach. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Kanato looking at me. I should have listened to Akio. I should have told someone besides embarrassing myself like that. Out of all of the scenarios, I never thought he’d react that way. I expected anger or defensiveness due to what people told me about him, but maybe he didn’t want to show that part of himself in public. Maybe he emotionally manipulated others to gaslight me. To make others see him as the victim for being falsely accused. That way no one would believe me or do anything to stop him. I thought I saw him smiling at some point during class. He knew what he was doing.

Admin will only post in character unless stated otherwise, if a response comes off as insensitive or offensive, it is not a direct reflection of admin's opinion or feelings.

Karl's character is very much unknown to us, the fandom, and therefore not a lot of direct facts can be gathered, but rather I can observe what his personality is like, so take everything with a grain of salt.

On the topic of his character, any questions that he alone might know that has not been explicitly stated in the franchise, will always be a headcanon and not canon to any of the Diabolik Lovers material.

Be Respectful, I don't think I need to clarify this though.

Karl is a VILLAIN, like the majority of the cast is. I am in no way excusing, defending or even promoting his actions.

Semi nsfw asks are completely fine, but I will not do explicit roleplay scenes.

OC asks and rps are extremely encouraged and welcomed.

I can answer or reject any ask I see fit, I don't believe I need to explain myself 24/7, but that's just a general rule of thumb in case I get weird asks. All you regular people have nothing to worry about so feel free to be in my inbox any and all the time.

Sakamaki & Bella Relationship HC’s

Shū:

• He may be the most chill out of everyone.

• As in, he wouldn’t exactly care for sharing or mind it.

• But don’t mistake his lethargy for anything extreme. If he wants something he will have it.

• Part of his conditioning to become King, he’s somewhat used to getting what he wants. Even if it backfired on him, resulting in him losing everything [Ahem, Reiji.]

• He only becomes engaged when Reiji is in the picture, purposely taunting him, so just know that Bella will be placed in some uncomfortable situations regarding the two of them.

• He’d have a lot of cuddle sessions with Bella, as a form to destress the both of them.

Reiji:

• Instantly not into it. Not at all.

• Reiji loathes the idea of having to share anything with Shū.

• So for him to share a significant other with his proclaimed sworn nemesis?

• He might as well bust out the wig and paint. If he’s playing the role of the clown, that is. 🤡

• He’d become very competitive with Shū. As in, leaving hickeys to get a rise out of him, and use it almost as a way to say ‘I win and you don’t.’ Like instant messaging. But using Bella’s body as the medium of choice.

• Reiji practically is Bella’s bitch boy. So best know that he will be doing whatever to please Bella.

Ayato:

• Ayato right off the bat would hate sharing.

• Sure, he and Laito and perhaps Kanato, time to time will share sacrificial brides for play and sport, but this? No way.

• He’d become upset if anything, and constantly want to steal Bella’s time away.

• Ayato is possessive by nature, so him having to share would make rise for competition.

• Him and Laito may tag team Bella, the same way they do Yui. However Ayato may be less into it as much as Laito is.

• Ayato would take Bella out to amusement park dates, anything high action to show her a good time.

Kanato:

• Anyone who knows his character instantly know that’s Kanato would loathe having to share.

• If you thought Ayato was bad, Kanato is the storm.

• As in, he needs constant attention all the time. And sharing isn’t exactly in his vocabulary.

• It’d be filled with constant attempts to get Bella’s attention and throwing tantrums until one of the brothers get sick and tired of it.

• Kanato would take Bella to café dates, and spend their time together outside of the house.

• Perhaps you’d even see the two going to Vandead Carnival.

Laito:

• Since he’s canonically a voyeur and into voyeurism, I doubt that he’d he too upset about sharing a significant other.

• He mainly wouldn’t mind with Ayato, but the others in the mix? Maybe he would, just a bit though. It’s not like he’d say it, so as to not ruin his facade.

• You’d see him teasing and pestering Bella a lot. As in, any given chance he has with Bella alone or in front of a crowd, he’d utilize it.

• But even then, I think he’d soften up his approach when realizing everyone else has.

• So Bella would find candle light dinners awaiting her, and an uncharacteristic softened up Laito.

• Honestly, maybe for once he’d find that the person he’s warming up to isn’t his. And never will be. And maybe, he’ll have to learn to get over that.

Subaru:

• He’s already insecure in himself as is, so sharing with his older half brothers wouldn’t exactly be the most appealing sentiment.

• As in, I’d say he’d spend the least amount of time with Bella due to his forced repression and fear.

• He doesn’t want anything to happen at his own fault, nor does he want to deal with any of his brothers’ pestering.

• So anything and everything he does is kept in secret, even at times unbeknownst to Bella.

• So the roses left at her bedside table every night, and the small chocolates found in her locker, all of the small things, it’s from him.

• Maybe he’d accompany her through a stroll of the rose garden, but even then he’d want it to be kept under wraps.

Sakamaki’s Reaction to Bella Being Overworked by The Clave

Shū:

“Don’t overwork yourself, you should prioritize your needs as well. The job will get done, so have something to eat.”

• He’d be concerned since even half humans need something for energy.

• He’ll completely disregard any protests and any jabs at his own unhealthy tendencies.

• In short, he won’t force Bella to eat, but he will check in on her.

Reiji:

“Neglecting your health is severely unhealthy. You shall accomplish nothing when doing so. I shall get a maid to bring forth a meal.”

• He’s one for staying on top of things, so for Bella to not take the best care of herself all due to a job? Let’s just say it’ll be changed immediately.

• He’ll be quick to get Bella to eat. Even faster to get her some well needed rest.

• Reiji wouldn’t care for disagreements, for if it’s that serious, he’ll help with the load of work.

Ayato:

“Eh? What do you mean you haven’t eaten?! Oi! Stop working and eat! I’ll… even share some of my takoyaki with you…”

• Ayato’s all for work hard, play hard. But not so much doing the work.

• So to hear that someone is sacrificing a lot… for work? It’s like Reiji all over again.

• He’d share some takoyaki and wouldn’t pester Bella as much after this. Even he knows his limits.

Kanato:

“Dolly? You should eat. Work can be done later, right Teddy? We insist you eat with us now. We can have a tea party! Wouldn’t that be nice?”

• Kanato would make Bella drop everything at the drop of a hat to spend time with him.

• He’d use this as an excuse to have Bella attend his tea parties without the others causing top much of a fuss.

• Expect to be filled with food by the end of this. As in, Kanato won’t rest.

Laito:

“Ne… That’s not that good, is it Bitch-chan? How about we take a break and go out. Perhaps a café would be nice, my treat.”

• Laito would 100% take Bella out after hearing about it.

• Something about being overworked to the brink of exhaustion hits a cord with him.

• He’d buy a lot with his fathers credit card and treat Bella out to something nice, just to give her a break and get her mind off of things.

Subaru:

“You shouldn’t do that, you know? It’ll only make things worse… I can get something made for you, if it helps?”

• Subaru, I’d say, is the most empathetic out of the brothers, so perhaps he’d approach it with a softer tone.

• Bella would remind Subaru of his mother at this moment. Especially during the stages of her decline.

• Subaru would have experience dealing with this— as per his mother— so he wouldn’t do anything to over react for Bella’s sake.

Sakamaki’s Reaction to Karlheinz’s Attempts to Kill Bella

Shū:

“Your plan… seriously means this much to you? Is that all… we are…?”

• He’s the oldest, so I’ll assume he’s been through everything with Karlheinz for a long time now.

• Maybe once he had attachments to his father, but it’s long gone now.

• He wouldn’t be surprised with how far his father is willing to go. After all, the Millennium War was proof enough, right?

Reiji:

“Father, I urge you… you must reconsider. I understand you know what is best, however…”

• He canonically worships the ground Karlheinz walks on. Even going as far as to highly idolize him. So for something like this to occur, he’d be on the standstill.

• He knows it’s something worth fighting for (that being Bella) however he trusts wholeheartedly what his father does and what he has planned.

• Reiji would 100% be in conflict with himself. Even more so than the others due to his devotion to his father.

Ayato:

“Oi! You should leave her alone! We ain’t pawns in your game, no matter how much you try and insist it.”

• Ayato would definitely be upset. Hell, perhaps even enraged if he was that invested in Bella.

• He knows how horrible of a man Karlheinz is, and how he tore everyone apart— including his own mother. So his distrust for Karlheinz is through the roof.

• He’d definitely use this as an opportunity to stay by Bella’s side and protect her, almost like a shield or knight beside her.

Kanato:

“No! You won’t take her away from me! I won’t let you! She’s my dolly, mine… You won’t leave me, right?”

• He knows his limits around his father. Kanato isn’t stupid, he knows that Karlheinz is far too strong for him to take on by himself, and with his own size.

• But he will throw a tantrum, perhaps in his own room and away from the others.

• After all, he doesn’t want to lose anything again. Bella is his. And that’s final.

Laito:

“My, you never let up, do you? It seems we all are to play the fool, then…”

• Like Subaru, he truly hates Karlheinz. To the core, and even more after he banished him to the dungeon.

• He isn’t shocked, just tired of everything. He wants Karlheinz’s reign to end, just like the others, no doubt.

• Laito wouldn’t know what to do with this predicament, seeing as everytime he’s ever gotten involved with Karlheinz, he’s lost something in the process. So most likely he’ll consider the possibility of a world without Bella.

Subaru:

“You… You damned old man! When will it be enough for you!?”

• Subaru 100% has a lot of loathing and pent up resentment towards Karlheinz for a multitude of reasons.

• He’s gotten to the point where he dreams of being the one to kill Karlheinz, so if this is his chance, then he knows he’ll have to take it.

• He would feel powerless, however, like the same way he did with his mother. So it would take him a bit to get out of that self-loathing mentality to keep Bella safe and unharmed.

She honestly tried very hard to prove that she wasn't useless to her father but no matter what she did it was never enough it hurt a lot and so she eventually pushed every single person away the thing she regretted was pushing her sister away and

Because of the neglect and emotional abuse.

She pushes everyone away and she's developed trust issues when she was in the sakamaki house

smart and throughout her her time and the sakamaki house she knew that all of them saw her as only a blood packet and was only waiting until she hit puberty that's when they started biting her and hurting her

But when her sister died it had hard at her emotions and she grabbed Subaru silver knife and in a blind rage she killed them without hesitation of course it wasn't easy since some of them tried to kill her

And paired with Subarus help she managed to kill them without dying

And after that she develops survivor's guilt because she feels that her sister should have survived not her and she has PTSD.

She was always used to being independent

She's never used to depending on people and she doesn't want to because she doesn't want to get attached to someone just to lose them.

She prefers to have short hair because it's easier to deal with it and cutting her hair was like cutting her ties to the church and her father

Although during the passing years she let her hair grow a bit longer
