The Disordered Cosmos and How Far the Light Reaches were two incredible scientific books I read this year and they’re both authored by queer scientists of color and while I throughly enjoyed both I couldn’t help but notice the similarities of both authors experiencing sexual assault. We really need to confront patriarchy and misogyny in our society because the disproportionate sexual violence experienced by woc and gender nonconforming people is directly tied to these power structures.

By embracing the conclusion that the universe we know is a rare but every-so-often-expectable statistical fluctuation from a configuration of total disorder, we're quickly led into a quagmire in which we lose all understanding, including the very chain of reasoning that led us to consider such an odd explanation in the first place.*
* A closely related point is that we should convince ourselves that the world we see right now just coalesced out of total disorder, the exact same reasoning – invoked anytime later – would require us to abandon our current belief and, instead, attribute the ordered world to a yet more recent fluctuation. Thus, in this way of thinking, every next moment invalidates the beliefs held in each previous moment, a distinctly unconvincing way of explaining the cosmos.

Me: Not all of my OCs have to be autistic and/or ADHD. Some could have other mental health struggles - for example, Ori has severe social anxiety.
Also me: Hm. Okay, but have you considered - he has severe social anxiety because he's autistic?

I see, or really hear, the audio that's like "Being a fictive is fucking wild 'cause I went.." (and so on), and I just want to talk about how real that audio really is and how different you may seem from what people perceive as your "canon" (as bad as it sounds).
For example, I am, unfortunately, an Alastor fictive. I am an aroace man who lives in a small house with my wife, Rose, whom I am in a queer-platonic relationship with, as we are both AroAce and my (somewhat adopted) daughter.
To put it briefly, I've done a lot, and a lot has happened in my source. But now? Now I'm close friends with BEETLEJUICE and a girl who is the self-proclaimed #1 Ghost fan. Surprisingly, I have a good relationship with people in my source, who I used to hate, and the same with my partner systems. I won't go into it because I'm not sure they'd want me to, but I'm best friends with the oddest combinations, but I love and appreciate them.
So yeah, being a fictive is odd, but it's not terrible. In fact, I quite like it.

My theory will not be denied
Kramer from Seinfeld has NVLD.
Exhibit A: he does not understand personal space. NVLDers can learn about personal space, but it appears that Kramer had no early intervention from his hag of a mother, Babs Kramer.
Exhibit B: Kramer runs into things, drops things, and falls over things constantly. NVLDers are frequently low on physical coordination. However, Kramer likes simple physical activities such as swimming and dancing, which help increase his spatial awareness.
Exhibit C: Kramer doesn't understand what will offend people socially. He doesn't follow social convention and says things that are honest to him but startling to other people.
Exhibit D: Kramer takes people literally. In one episode he asks Jerry for a case of Kaiser rolls. Jerry says, with characteristic sarcasm, that he thinks he has one in the stockroom. Kramer later tells Jerry he couldn't find the stockroom, thus showing that he believed Jerry's sarcastic comment to be true.
In conclusion, discovery of NVLD began in the 70s; the showrunners were unlikely to be familiar with a little-known disorder when creating the character of Kramer. HOWEVER, Kramer was partly based on a former neighbor of Jerry's, and people with NVLD have always existed. Jerry Seinfeld may have looked at one or more people with NVLD or similar traits and gone, "That's comedy material."

The Disordered Cosmos should be required reading for scientists, Dr. Chanda Prescod-Weinstein excellently details how American scientific institutions are steeped in white supremacy by the nature of their existence in a nation built with systemic racism. Scientists often like to think we are objective and “above politics” in search of fundamental truths but our ways of thinking are still a product of our society. Through all these insights this book still manages to impart a deep sense of wonder about our universe and science. Even if you’re not a scientist this is such an interesting read I really enjoyed the audiobook.

This suggests that there is nothing, even in principle, that can take place within a Planck square, because any such activity could support disorder and hence the Planck square could contain more than the single unit of entropy found by Bekenstein and Hawking.
