all of this buck expanding his social circle has been very buck focused and for good reason but eddie got jealous when buck called a dog (aka man's best friend) his new best friend. can we please spare a moment of silence to think about eddie diaz 800 miles away in a town full of ghosts back under his parents' thumb finding out buck is making new friends to fill the void eddie left behind. buck will say he's going out to a speed friending event that night and eddie will be like "oh man that's the only time i'n free for the next few days guess we won't be able to talk until friday then" and buck will cancel so fast that eddie gets a little hard. but that's unrelated.

Controversial opinion maybe, but every time I think about Eddie’s sisters I wonder, what if we don’t hear about them because they actually don’t get along? What if we don’t hear about them because they kinda suck? The Diaz family dynamic as we know it so far is kind of set up perfectly for Eddie to have been the black sheep and Sophia and Adriana to have been the golden children. Maybe they were spoiled the way Chris was getting spoiled, and Eddie, crumbling under the weight of his parents’ expectations, grew to resent them. It’s complicated, of course, because it’s not really their fault, and Eddie knows that, but that doesn’t make it any easier to forgive them.

Can you imagine how much and for how long, frailty and self-doubt, Helena and Ramon have had to inflict on little Eddie for him as an adult to repeatedly question people who easily give to him? —Eddie is so self-effacing; never asks for help, and never corrects anyone's opinions whether right or wrong about him. That shows just how transactional his relationship with his primary care-takers was, and how manipulative their vulnerability and emotions played a part to guilt-trip Eddie into thinking he has to repress himself to uplift others. A childhood as a trap, where he never felt worthy if he didn't do something for them in return. And by the looks of it nothing he ever did was ever enough.
