Found something I wrote a long while for my Depths AU. Enjoy, folks. 🌸🌊
Splotches of too-bright light filled his vision, wavering as he stumbled into the cabin and hit something metallic. His ears rang but he could hear someone screaming, a loud boom, and finally… silence.
Do you blame yourself?
He didn’t answer. His tongue was lead on the roof of his mouth. Everything was black, and he couldn’t see.
Do you blame yourself?
The voice was louder this time, penetrating the comfortable but deadly silence he was trapped in.
“What?”
Well it's quite common in this situation for a patient to feel a kind of…guilt.
The voice wavered out of one and split into fourteen very real, very distinct voices.
“What situation?”
The accident
The voice morphed into one again. The tone of his best friend. Water filled his lungs and saltwater stung his eyes, flowing through his body and replaced the blood that he could feel blooming around him.
Wake up
He shot up with a gasp and heaved around air. The room was dark, and a sleeping Gladstone was the only one there.
A cracked portrait sat at his bedside but… who were they?
His breathing slowed, and the voices in his head receded. The ticking of a clock was the only thing he could hear, now.
And Fethry was alone, again.
Alone again.

Duckvember Day 27: Cultured Duck
"The sea is a mysterious and dangerous place, whose depths hide great secrets. Fethry knows this perfectly well, as his little sea friends have told him a few things. Although Donald remains somewhat skeptical."
I've already drawn two of Donald's cousins, at this rate I'll end up putting together a family tree of the duck family haha

Introducing: Jay!! My ducktales oc!! (If it wasn't blatantly obvious lmao)
Do you want to know more about them? No? Too bad!
Jay, aka January was the first ever clone F.O.W.L. created. However, due to a lab accident, Jay ended up not only with scrooge's DNA, but also Bradford's. Deeming the clone a "failure", Heron drops the created baby off at an orphanage.
(Bradford becomes enraged when he later learns of this - a child with his and scrooge mcduck's dna?? Just out there??? Has Heron no concept how problematic that could shake out to be???)
Jay spends the first 9 years of their life kinda bouncing from foster home to foster home (kinda developing a bit of a thing abt people seeing them eat. Because of how their beak is a bit weirdly aligned, they can't eat quite the same as most others, and people stare.). But eventually they scrape together enough resources for like, one of those online-dna testing kits that spit out who you're related to.
Turns out their parents are Scrooge McDuck!!! (And some random vulture guy? Weird)
Thus, Jay sets out to become an adventurer like their dad, to meet him one day on their adventures!
Except, first adventure they immediately get trapped in a parallel, kind of very hellish dimension. They get out after three years, but they're pretty traumatized - and pretty much pu off of adventuring forever.
(Though they do find and keep a magic amulet in [hell dimension] that they use to cast spells. Mostly teleportation spells, really.)
Deciding they don't really want to meet a guy who's whole schtick is adventuring, they instead begin their search for dad#2, that vulture guy.
They find out he works for scrooge mcdad (of course he does) but don't judge him too harshly yet. From what they can find online (public libraries for the win!) the guy doesn't really... Do anything. Let alone go on adventures.
So Jay decides to find out where he lives and well, just kinda shows up at his door.
Much surprise is had, it's not quite the family reunion Jay was hoping for but they haven't been kicked out so they count it as a win.
Staying with their dad is pretty great, actually. He even hires a private tutor for homeschooling, since Jay missed 3 years of school and has a lot of catching up to do.
(they definitely hoard food in their room somewhere, just in case. They also have a bug-out bag ready at any given time. Just in case.)
Turns out, Dadford doesn't only also hate adventuring with a passion - he has a whole secret organization to take over the world and stop all adventuring! Forever!
(Jay found a secret stash of files on the computer they use for video games.)
Thus, at the ripe age of 13 they become the youngest FOWL agent ever!
And because they are kind of a big security risk now that they know, they get moved out to live in the outpost at the library of Alexandria instead, together with a bunch of the villains Dadford recruited.
(including Phantom Blot who Jay has an ongoing rivalry with just because they use magic sometimes lol)
(they and the villains play mario kart/party together on sundays)
Eventually, (three years later) season 1 happens and seeing the mcduck family successfully overcome the rift that della's absence left, dadford decides to put one of his better pawns into play.
Through some posturing, magic pyrotechnics and a fake mystical artefact, Jay gets planted into the mcduck family as scrooge's "magic child/clone".
(this happens during the episode "The Depths of Cousin Fethry", while huey and dewey are out meeting their cousin, scrooge, louie and webby go to find an invaluable treasure and return with Jay. Cue scrooge introducing Jay as his kid and Huey and Dewey going "wtf did we miss")
They go along on an adventure or two, mainly because saying "I hate adventuring and I don't want to do it because I was traumatized and hate it" doesn't make sense for someone who was just created from an ancient magic artefact. But after a couple adventures they can finally just put their foot down and stay home. It's chill.
They draw sometimes, do a few commissions.
Scrooge wants to bond with them so they teach him how to play video games and they watch some shows together.
Eventually, the last adventure rolls around.
At the point where Webby pretends to be June and kidnaps... Herself (yknow what part i mean. Probably) Jay comes with the clones, obviously shocking Webby.
But they make it to the library without any particular incident - except Huey getting discovered, obviously.
Jay stays behind to "escort June and Webby". They've very much realized the switcheroo that Webby pulled and use their (thus far mostly benign) magic to switcheroo back.
They nod to June, explaining that they didn't say anything earlier so that Director Dad doesn't get on her case too bad about "failing".
After that, Jay kinda just goes off to hang out a bit. Drink some pep. Chill.
On the way to Webby's cell, she wakes up and takes out June. (Because of course she does. She's Webby.)
Cue the rest of the finale.
Right up until Dadford is fighting McDuck and his fam. Because now, he calls Jay forward, who kinda immobilizes the fam with their magic for a bit.
Dadford throws his employees into the death pit, but oh shock! He picks up to throw Jay in as well.
And he does. He does throw them in.
Luckily, Jay is a master at magical teleportation and nobody realizes they weren't, in fact, erased from existence.
Bla bla bla, scrooge signs the papyrus, "family is the greatest adventure of all", boom the other vilalins show up to defeat dadford once and for all.
But what's this? It's Jay, with a magical barrier, protecting her dad from being turned into a non-sentient vulture!
They teleport themself and Dadford outta there.
At this point they're assuming they got thrown in the pit as a sort of surprise/back up, to make everyone think FOWL was already defeated when they were still there and alive. Yknow, a backup plan.
They live on the street for a bit, but Jay manages to get a job, securing the two of them an aprtment.
Dadford doesn't rlly come out of his room for a while.
Jay gets it; having ur thirty year-long plan derailed like that couldn't be, yknow, pleasant.
At some point, Louie finds them at their job and basically blackmails them into helping him out during adventures. (They kinda hide in his shadow, basically/louie summons them, so when something particularly dangerous happens they can subtly magic it away.)
Dadford eventually emerges from his room and drops the bombshell we all already knew: he very much did intend to kill Jay that day.
Jay is kinda shellshocked. They sort of robotically just return to their routine; go to work.
Louie summons them to deal with an adventure again, and wouldn't u know it? Its an adventure in that hell dimension that Jay got stuck in as a kid.
This, coupled with the revelation that one of their dads tried to kill them, kinda makes them very uncareful. They get revealed to the rest of the family but manage to get everyone out of there.
They reveal that Louie's been blackmailing them and the fact dadford tried to actually kill them sorta spills out in the same, emotionally charged rant and to their surprise scrooge offers to allow them back in the mansion, despite everything.
Jay hesitantly accepts, but mentions that they would like to keep working their current job. This is agreeable to everyone.
Jay returns to their apartment later, under the cover of "going to work" and find dadford packing his things.
They're like, what r u doing? Where would u even go?
And he's like, idk, i'll dip into my grandma's account or smth, its not like u want me here anymore, what with the attempted murder.
And Jay's like, I didn't say that.
Stunned silence.
So anyway, Jay sighs and tells dadford he's allowed to stay at the apartment and that Jay will stay at the manor again.
This is how far ive gotten. If u have any ideas/thoughts/complaints, drop 'em somewhere i can see 'em!
If anyone's even read this far lol.
If u have, have a virtual cookie, you've earned it🍪

i think they shouldve tied huey+webby’s arcs together and it wouldve made both work better both of them fit the Smart Guy/ Tactician role, and they both of a desire for Knowledge and to understand things. the missing mysteries are basically tied to fowl too
webby and huey are kind of similiar characters w/ how both of them used to feel like outsiders, but have ppl they can rely on/are friends with (webby not knowing how to interact w pol in s1, and connecting with the fam+lena+violet, while huey struggled to connect with his family (depths of cousin fethry) + with the junior woodchucks until boyd)
i think u could also do something w/ how webby + huey usually reassure other characters but can never rlly take care of themselves? like theres instances of them supporting dewey + louie (and also lena for webby) but huey usually goes into panic/gets stuck in his thoughts (and sometimes goes into Duke Mode) and webby gets stuck in a self-depricating mood if she thinks shes done something wrong iirc

Compare/Contrast of Huey, Dewey and Louie And Anne, Sasha and Marcy
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok. Here I’ll be doing a compare/contrast between Huey, Dewey and Louie from the DuckTales (2017) TV series and Anne, Sasha and Marcy from the Amphibia TV series. It occurred to me that those 2 trios have quite a bit in common but are also a bit different. Also, Spoiler Alert for the DuckTales (2017) TV series and the Amphibia TV series. With that out of the way, let’s dive right in.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both trios have a member who was self-centered and had good skills in persuasion. For Huey, Dewey and Louie, there’s Louie. And for Anne, Sasha and Marcy, there’s Sasha. As shown in the episode ‘Day Of The Only Child!’, Louie wanted to be “shamelessly spoiled” and he was also able to persuade the Beagle Boys to get along. And as shown and stated in the episode ‘Reunion’, Sasha had statues of herself made and she was also able to help trick all of Wartwood into falling into a trap in order to have Hop Pop executed. The difference between them there, though, is what exactly they wanted. As shown in the episode ‘Storkules In Duckburg!’, Louie wanted to use make a profit and to found his own company called Louie Incorporated. And as shown and stated in the episode ‘Dinner Party’, Sasha wanted to use her skills in persuasion to regain the control she once had over her friends Anne and Marcy. So, Louie wanted money and found his own company whereas Sasha wanted control over her friends. Another similarity between them there is that they both learned that their self-centered ways aren’t worth it. As shown in the episode ‘The Richest Duck In The World!’, Louie realized that he wasn’t ready to be the richest duck in the world which stopped Bombie because he earned humility which was the one thing the richest duck in the world didn’t have which Louie explained by saying that: “Owlson was right. That’s the thing the richest duck in the world needs to earn: humility. Being able to admit that you can’t do something.” And as shown in the episode ‘Turning Point’, Sasha learned to put aside her desire for control and helped Wartwood stop a group of robots since, as she said: “Oh, Anne. I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have tried so hard to be in control again. In the end, where did it get me? Well, that ends now. I wanna be someone better. Someone that deserves you. I know what I have to do.”
Also, another similarity between Louie and Sasha is that they both had a parental figure who shared their worldview and who also grew to care about them. For Louie, there was Goldie O’Gilt who, as shown in the episode ‘Happy Birthday Doofus Drake!’, was conniving and wanted to get more and more just like Louie. But as also shown in the episode ‘Happy Birthday Doofus Drake!’, Goldie saved Louie from Doofus Drake even if that meant giving up the gift bags of jewelry she wanted to get. And for Sasha, there was Captain Grime who, as shown in the episode ‘Prison Break’, was strict and wanted control just like Sasha. But, as shown in the episode ‘All In’, Grime sacrificed himself in order to save Sasha from Darcy even though that meant he could’ve died in the process.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both trios have a member who is very smart and also get very excited by certain things. For Huey, Dewey and Louie, there’s Huey. And for Anne, Sasha and Marcy, there’s Marcy. As shown in the episode ‘The Depths Of Cousin Fethry!’, Huey was smart enough to tell how many leap years a tree experienced based on how many growth rings it had that were the exact same distance apart and it was also something he was excited by since he called it amazing. And as shown in the episode ‘Marcy At The Gates’, Marcy was smart enough to tell that Hop Pop was from a farming community by doing a thorough examination of his head and she was also excited about how Anne was found by a frog family since she loved the found family trope. The difference between them there, though, is what kinds of things they’re more excited by. As I said before, as shown in the episode ‘The Depths Of Cousin Fethry!’, Huey was excited by how many leap years a tree experienced since it was a fascinating scientific analysis to him and as shown in the episode ‘Marcy At The Gates’, Marcy was excited by how Anne was found by a frog family since she loved the found family trope, a trope in works of fiction back on Earth. So, Huey is more excited by the scientific things in life whereas Marcy is more excited by the fantastical things in life.
Also, another similarity between Huey and Marcy is that they both wanted the other 2 members of their respective trios to follow their lead and help them fulfill their dreams but later on came to terms with the fact that their friends won’t always follow them like that. As shown and stated in the episode ‘Day Of The Only Child!’, Huey wanted his brothers Dewey and Louie to help him get a promotion in the ranks of the Junior Woodchucks but after seeing how 2 Beagle Boys he befriended blindly doing what he said led to disaster, he learned that having people who do everything you say isn’t always a good thing. And as shown and stated in the episode ‘All In’, Marcy wanted Anne and Sasha to follow her dreams of adventure but, while she was trapped in a fantasy world by The Core, Marcy realized that forcing your friends to follow your dreams is wrong and therefore rejected the fantasy world The Core created. The difference between them there, though, is under what circumstances they learned that lesson. As also shown in the episode ‘Day Of The Only Child!’, Huey’s situation with the Beagle Boys happened in the real world. And as also shown in the episode ‘All In’, Marcy’s situation happened in a fake fantasy world created by The Core that she later rejected. So, Huey had a painful but healthy dose of reality whereas Marcy rejected a fantasy world and learned to embrace reality.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both trios have a member who is very stubborn. For Huey, Dewey and Louie, there’s Dewey. And for Anne, Sasha and Marcy, there’s Anne. As shown in the episode ‘Escape To/From Atlantas!’, Dewey stubbornly decided to go across a bridge that was rigged with fire traps despite his uncle Scrooge’s warnings against doing so. And as shown in the episode ‘Family Fishing Trip’, Anne stubbornly wanted to parasail despite her mother Oum Boonchuy not wanting her to do so. The difference between them there, though, is that how exactly things went down with their respective relatives who tried to reign them in. As shown in the episode ‘Woo-oo!’, Dewey as well as his brothers Huey and Louie got off on the wrong foot with their uncle Scrooge at first before they warmed up to each other. And as shown in the episode ‘The New Normal’, Anne was happy to reunite with her mother Oum Boonchuy as well as her father which likely means that while Anne did see her mother as a buzzkill sometimes, she still always loved her.
Also, another similarity between Dewey and Anne is that they both had a loved one who kept a dark secret from them which almost caused them to sever all ties with them. As shown in the episode ‘The Last Crash Of The Sunchaser!’, Dewey’s Uncle Scrooge kept a secret from him as well as his brothers about how their mother Della disappeared because of a ship he built for her called the Soear Of Selene and, after they found out, Dewey as well as his brothers were furious with Scrooge to the point that they moved out of his mansion. And as shown in the episodes ‘After The Rain’, Hop Pop secretly buried the Calamity Box that was Anne’s key to getting home and, after she found out, Anne became furious with Hop Pop to the point that she almost left his family. The difference between them there, though, is how they came to forgive them after finding out. As also shown in the episode ‘The Shadow War Part 1: The Night Of De Spell!’, Dewey forgave Scrooge after Beakley told him and his brothers that the loss of their mother left Scrooge broken and that he almost got himself bankrupt because of it and also after Donald told him and his brothers that Scrooge needs them and they need him since their family has been apart for too long and also because, as Dewey told Scrooge in the episode ‘The Shadow War Part 2: The Day Of The Ducks!’, “And maybe we should’ve realized that when we lost our mom, you lost her, too.” And as shown in the episode ‘After The Rain’, Anne forgave Hop Pop after he told her about how while he was away from Wartwood, his grandchildren’s parents were killed by herons and that ever since then, he swore that he wouldn’t let his family down again which is why he decided to hide the Calamity Box since he thought it was a danger to his family and he also told Anne about how foolish it was since Anne is his family too and also after being given enough time because, as Anne told Hop Pop after he asked her what it would take for her to forgive him for his mistake in the episode ‘The First Temple’, “I don’t know! I just need time.” So, Dewey forgave Scrooge because of how he reacted to losing Della whereas Anne forgave Hop Pop because of why he hid the Calamity Box and also because she was given enough time. Another difference between them here is that in Dewey’s case, there was only 1 dark secret kept from him by someone he loved whereas in Anne’s case, there was another dark secret kept from her by someone she loved as revealed in the episode ‘True Colors’ where it was revealed that Marcy was the one who got Anne as well as herself and Marcy teleported and stranded in Amphibia but Anne seemed more sad and distraught at that revelation than angry probably because Anne already went through a similar situation with Hop Pop and, as shown in the episode ‘All In’, she reconciled with Marcy. Another similarity between Dewey and Anne is that they usually don’t think things through before charging into a situation. As shown in the episode ‘Day Of The Only Child!’, Dewey tried shooting a toy missile to take down Doofus Drake. And as shown in the episode ‘Wax Museum’, Anne fell into The Curator’s trap to get her frozen into a wax sculpture for his exhibits despite the fact that, as The Curator said, he was being pretty obvious about it. The difference between Dewey and Anne here, though, is how they work around this weakness of theirs. As shown in the episode ‘Escape To/From Atlantas!’, Dewey’s go-getter attitude allowed him to swim down and remove a diamond which then deactivated Atlantas’ water death trap and save his family. And as shown in the episode ‘True Colors’, Anne was able to look past her usual recklessness and come up with a plan to defeat the toad army. So, Dewey works around his weakness by making his recklessness work in his favor whereas Anne works past her weakness and her recklessness when the situation calls for it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The 3 members of both trios do quarrel but at the end of the day, they still love each other. As shown in the episode ‘Day Of The Only Child!’, Huey, Dewey and Louie got into a fight with each other but, as also shown in the episode ‘Day Of The Only Child!’, they all happily agreed to be brothers again and worked together to defeat The Beagle Boys, Doofus Drake and a rampaging robot. And as shown in the episode ‘True Colors’, Anne, Sasha and Marcy had a relationship that was complicated to the point that Sasha’s betrayal and Marcy being revealed to be the one who got them stranded in Amphibia in the first place ultimately led to Anne getting stuck back on Earth while Sasha was still stranded in Amphibia and Marcy was seriously injured but, as shown in the episode ‘All In’, Anne, Sasha and Marcy all reconciled despite everything and worked together to stop The Core.
Well, that’s all for this post.
See you all next time.

3, 12, and 14 for choose violence ask
😬
Well, this is a bit awkward. I actually didn’t reblog that specific ask post. I’ll still answer for you, though!
3. A screenshot or description of the worst take you've seen on Tumblr.
Hmmm…I certainly have seen a few. One that definitely sticks out to me, though, is someone saying that DuckTales 2017 “ruined” Donald’s family tree. Don’t remember all the details, but it was, in essence, purism towards the comics and bemoaning the finale twist. On one hand, I kinda see what they’re saying, but on the other, to quote Matt Damon, “No offense, Tammy, but drink my blood.”
12. The unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them.
That’s actually kinda tough. I don’t know how unpopular we’re talking here, so I’ll give two on this.
First one: she’s not necessarily unpopular, but she isn’t always given her proper dues. The sentiment isn’t only on me, so that kinda does elevate her to ensemble dark horse status, or popularly unpopular, but I’ll argue for her, anyway: Violet Sabrewing.
More people should like/pay notice to Violet because there’s more to her than meets the eye. She’s one of those characters that’s super easy to misread or generalize, and that’s a shame, because she’s way more than just “the stoic nerd”. She’s clever, daring, eclectic, loyal, and badass. Violet doesn’t automatically come across with over-the-top characterization, so she kinda has to have more attention paid to her in episodes where she has a bigger role in order to be better understood. Just to take note of those little details in her characterization and her interactions with others.
Plus, her design is just super aesthetically pleasing.
Now, the other one: he doesn’t have as many fan works surrounding him, and he didn’t have a lot of big moments in the show, so this is probably a straighter example of “unpopular” than Violet. He’s just a super interesting character if you really think about it: Fethry Duck.
He had, what, maybe 1-2 episodes where he played a big role, and that’s it. Which is rather unfortunate, because Fethry is a great character! He had a very unique route taken with him in the show: being a marine biologist at the underwater labs, usually not having anyone else besides the creatures he works with for company.
His eccentricities make him misunderstood by those around him, but he keeps a positive attitude about him. He’s just super used to his circumstances, and he does what he does really well. Plus, I just think The Depths of Cousin Fethry! is a super good representation of what it’s like to be autistic.
So, yeah, that’s why I think more people should like both Violet and Fethry.
14. That one thing you see in fics all the time.
Della being chaotic or awkward as all hell. She deserves to act silly and do stuff where she doesn’t care what others think.

(I love how almost everyone thinks of Fethry's four years at the sublab as unwilling and/or traumatising for him.)
(I think that "four-and-a-half year" part in the episode ("The Depth of Cousin Fethry!" [S02E02]. Bless that episode for my boi's screen debut) is supposed to highlight Fethry's extreme passion in the ocean life, so that he would willingly stay that long underwater just to study something he likes.
But we are all like "Nah fam, you are forced to stay there. You are just coping. You need therapy".)

My character list for my Depths AU (species and age) is done,,, it may not be much but it's something! Adding ages just helps solidify character identity y'know? I've had their species picked out for about two years or however old this thing is and like ONE VC, lol!
Anyways, super excited to actually get this thing rolling. I wrote out a little correspondence at work but need to go back over it before posting it or anything, haha.
🌊💛(ps why are these emotes so huge on their own what's up with that aye)

For my very first poll I have decided to do something that requires more than 10 options/choices and because there can only be one poll per post there will be multiple posts that all have to do with the same poll. This poll will be about which DuckTales (2017) episode you consider to be the best in the entire series. So if the episode you consider the best isn’t on this particular poll, don’t worry because there will be multiple posts that may have the episode you’re looking for on there. All the episode polls will end around the exact same time. Even though there will be multiple posts with a poll dealing with which DuckTales (2017) episode you consider to be the best, please treat this as a single poll and vote for one episode only. For example if the episode you’re looking for is here and you voted for it on this poll, please don’t go to the other posts to vote for an episode that’s on that poll. Have fun! 😊 ❤️ 🦆

Ducktales the depth of Cousin Fethry. What do you think of Fethry, (Donald the punching bag, Gladstone win at everything, guess Fethry is just enjoying whatever life throw at him). Huey believing he's a weirdo like him. Launchpad going on another adventure off screen with another mysterious women.
Fethry is definitely a bit on the weird side, but his life was honestly so depressing. Stuck in the middle of the ocean with absolutely no one to talk to. I'd go insane having to live like that. I don't blame him for finding any excuse to get someone to come out and actually interact with him.
Huey's definitely got his own odd tendencies, that's for sure. Maybe not to the same extent as Fethry, but who knows how Huey will be at his age?
Launchpad's got some shady stuff going on in the background of this show. It's like he's got this whole badass hidden life that the rest of the cast doesn't know about. I wonder if any of them will ever find out?
