Spooky Month AU Idea

(My boyfriend showed me this once and got me obsessed with it lol) SO! Idea for an AU based on what I've seen in some comments on the video series or in edits: Half-Eldritch/Cryptid Skid AU.

Synopsis: Everyone in town knows those two weirdo kids who dress in skeleton/pumpkin costumes and act as if every day were "Spooky Month". They were annoying and seemed to bring trouble wherever they went, but they weren't that bad. However, people have been noticing something... off, about one of them. The skeleton kid, Skid. There's something different about him, that makes people's skins crawl and fills them with an uneasy dread whenever he walks by. They try their best to ignore it; After all, one slightly weirder kid isn't as bad as the other stuff going on in their town, right? ...right? (In which Skid is a little sweet cryptid who protects the people in town with powers he doesn't exactly know how to use properly and doesn't understand why people are so freaked by them)

In this, instead of Skid's dad being a cult leader, he would instead be some sort of eldritch like the Eyes of the Universe (or "Eyes"). He was originally worshiped by the Cult, but had "disappeared", leading them to worship the Eyes instead. Lila (who he did like in this AU) had no idea about it, just trying her best to raise their son after her husband has "disappeared". Skid's not aware of what his dad was either, but he is aware of the cool "spooky" abilities that no one else can do. Pump thinks they're amazingly "spooky" too and everyone else is just slightly weirded out by the little guy. I'm planning on maybe doing a series of one-shots for this AU, mostly depicting people's reactions to Skid being a little cryptid, with some plots of the episodes being slightly changed. It's been on my mind for at least a month and I hope that I can at least start the one-shots before my fixation moves on.

Master post for all @naffeclipse book cover designs (except song fish amid the stars) since I decided after finishing the third one I was just going to do one for all of them n didn’t wanna spam post back to back.

My brain just keeps gridlocking whenever I try to think of one for song fish. Something with Circus I just know it, but what without it being cluttered idk. Will put a lil vid below the collapse of me trying n failing to come up with one, just so it’s not left out

I love all these stories! It was fun to honor all of them with this project since I know I’ve been a little artistically biased towards certain ones, but now I scurry on to other projects. Maybe take a break, drink some hot cocoa maybe. The smell of fall is in the air so who knows where I’ll wander off to.

AU where MC’s eyes were changed to blue instead to make her look like she was from Quelsum. AU where MC’s eyes were changed to yellow to make her look like she was from Invidia. AU of if in Lynt’s consort path the MC really wasn’t romantically interested in him and didn’t fall in love with him so he just married Hannah and she was happy for them, friends with them. AU of if then she dates Tino instead.

Headcanon that I turned into an AU: Skid being some sort of half eldritch being that makes him resistant to things like the Eyes or the Piper

Other ones are:

Autistic/Selectively mute Lucky

Pump being an arsonist

Kevin giving out free candy to kids he’s fond of (like Skid and Pump)

Radford picking up a smoking habit from John

Pump’s Dad name being Garfield

Consider: Vampire au but we actually acknowledge Scott deserves a role as the head of hunters (harmony hallow lore my beloved)

Scott runs the insitute that keeps Vampires at bay and gaurds those who don't have the strength to fend themselves from their onslaught.

Known facts about Scott is that he has a son named Seapeekay who is a hunter only on the grounds of family tradition, and is known to be one of the weaker members. Seapeekay isn't of the groups that go out on long missions like his dad was, he's never had the stamina or strength to fully pull that off so he's stays mostly behind the scenes for both his dad's sanity and his own safety. He tends to develop the technology used to fend off vampires.

Xisuma does not question his acquiring of members, or the fact that Grian and Etho are the resident cryptids he essentially adopted.

Jack ends up with a treaty with Scott after being at all out war for centuries with Scott's clan because Jack accidentally fell for CPK, and it was mutual. Scott isn't a monster and is willing to support his son. Even if his son's tastes are questionable.

Fundy was turned by Wilbur, and as such Fundy jokes that he's his dad. Scott didn't get the joke and threatened custody battle when Wilbur wasn't paying attention to Fundy ending up nearly tricked by Dream. Scott has morals, and they're: do not play with people's hearts. Dream was grounded for over a year and banned from missions. Fundy gained a dad. And another fox sibling. Scott has a shaky alliance with Philza too because of it.

Scott eventually lands an alliance with the Hermit Coven but by then he's sort of just planning out how to get all of the covens a source of blood so he doesn't have to deal with the whole "I technically have to fight you guys." Scott is tired. Scott is keeping everything running. He is the mortal dad none of the vampires asked for but is getting. Philza and Xisuma have both offered to turn him so he can just dip from being a leader. Scott has not said yes out of pettiness so far.

Scott NEEDS a break.

i fucked up hayakawa ken's name earlier so ovbiously im tited and need sleep but before that im going to describe my idea for a kamen rider ghost au for guardian bc i think that has some potential there. basically when i was watching guardian my thought process went "oh wow theres a gay cryptid prince!" ==>same as ==>prince frostytips from kr ghost.

ghost spoilers (sorta) below the cut

basically gay princes but obviously that would mean there are some key differences here. the past shit where zhao yunlan and shen wei were lovers happened in a past life for both of them but only shen wei remembers that.

zhao yunlan is the heir to the family temple which he keeps out of necessity. he only uses like 2 rooms personally so those rooms are the messy ones, while the rest go the the members of the SID. which i guess is zhao's found family i guess bc he didnt like his father. but now that he's turning whatever birthday is significant, he gets  a mysterious package in the mail which kills him so he gets all those weird cool ghosty powers like floati g thru walls & eavesdropping & shit.

the SID are used to weird shit happening so theire not too concerned abt the leader being a ghost. even so they decide to keep it under wraps. justiciar (who gave zhao the ghost explanation in a kigurumi) tells him he must collect the holy hallows (eyecons) to come back to life. but he knows prince ye zun wants to take the throne & consolidate power so he's just putting A ROADBUNP in thr prince's way.

this is abt the time shen wei realizes he is a reincarnation & used to have a lover. he searches for his soulmate in his own world and, not finding him, determines to search in the human world. ye zun Knows exactly who shen wei loved and K nows he's currently a ghost. he figures his twin wont watch him as closely when he is on another world and sets to work devising how to frame lil bro for murder.

justiciar tells shen wei he can only find his lover by collecting the holy hallows, effectively pitting him against zhao yunlan. i dont know what their dynamic will be like at first but it'd be hilarious to have zhao not remember shen wei at all. he just takes the eyecon and goes. but shen wei realizes he's losing the collection and eventually shoves aside his memories/emotions to compete with zhao. zhao who always seems to be one step ahead of him. zhao who investigates oddly but in a way that Works. zhao who summons each hallowed eyecon by understanding the emotions each berson felt about the famous figure they looked up to.

basically he doesnt know zhao is good at this bc of who he is (+ he's aghost). i forget what happens next but the eyecons are collected, zhao uses them to wish his own receptionist back to life instead of himself, then shen steals eyecons from him.

skipping ahead- eventually zhao teleports by accident into the ganma palace and there his memories start to reawaken. but he is chased out by the guards before he can really remember. he is in sort of competition with shen wei again for the eyecons bc the receptionist's librarian bf also needs to be wished back to life.

hhhhhh im getting the timeline confused but anyway. shen wei realizes that he would still want to protect zhao yunlan out of tribute to who they were before. zhaos ghostliness is still a secret atm but he will Reveal soon, once his deadline runs out and the justiciar comes a-knocking.

idr where this was going. oh yeah. shen wei realizes he cares about zhao yunlan and theyre not just the memories, when zhao's timeline is abt to be up. like prince frostytips' reaction to takeru's 3rd death except magnified bc he's in love and emotions are intense.

"Please please please... get up..." he whispered, hands clenching. He could hear the others standing around him, but only focused on listening for the sound of a heart beating. The sound that meant that he was alive.

Michelle paced around the room, hugging herself as she waited. God, she hated this place. It was so cold. But she would grit her teeth and bear through it. She had to.

The door finally creaked open, and she turned to see who was there. She swallowed, eyes wide as she looked at her son. “Dexter…?”

“Hi mom…” he said, smiling awkwardly in an orange jumpsuit. He tried to open his arms, but thought better of it, hearing the chains clink against one another. “Uhh… I’d give you a hug. But, doesn’t seem like I’m able to right now, heh…”

The devil heard a snort-laugh echo from somewhere in the freezer, snarling as the exterminator’s mocking voice followed suit. “Here’s a fun fact for you, Bobby boy. Did you know that, if you lay even a finger on those kids, I’d fucking kill you where you stood?” 

Bob snarled, lips curling up into a grin. “Oh yeah? And what are you gonna do against me, rat boy? Didn’t seem to have much on me back at that house. Now you're in my home base. Not much in yer favor going on…”

Dexter hummed from his hiding place, breathing out a cloud of cold air. He glanced down at his hand, and silver reflected in the eyes of his mask. “Well… guess we’ll just have to see, won’t we?”

There was rustling in the bushes, and Kevin tensed, holding an arm out in front of the children behind him. Susie held tightly onto Skid, who was frozen in place, staring into the bushes with wide eyes.

“Who’s there?!” the teen yelled, trying to ignore how high-pitched his voice was. The bushes rustled again, before a foot stepped out. Followed by an arm. Followed by a head, topped with short, thick brown curls. The trio all stopped, eyes widening as a little boy walked through, his clothes worn and ragged. There was a blank look in his eyes, his expression devoid of life, but there was no doubt about it.

“Will?!”/“Pump?!”

“But it’s my fault!” the little boy sobbed. Everyone looked at him, shocked by the outburst. “If I hadn’t run away, he wouldn’t have destroyed everything trying to find me! No one would have gotten hurt!” 

“That’s not true!” Pump yelled back, surprising everyone even more. Kevin backed him up, firm in his words. “Exactly! None of this is your fault! He would have done it regardless! He’s an insane megalomaniac!”

(Everything Lost AU)

There was a loud boom from the outside. Shaking the whole ship. The two pulled back, rushing out onto the deck.

“Captain!” Dexter shouted, turning around to face Lila as she gripped the steering wheel. “What’s going on?”

“We’re under attack!” she shouted back. She was turning the wheel, trying to dodge the incoming cannonballs, whistling through the air. Magnus looked in the direction they came from, and his eyes widened.

“It’s the Royal Navy!” Streber bellowed from up in the nest, gripping the rims tightly. Lila grunted, jerking the wheel just as the cannonballs crashed, narrowly missing the ship by centimeters. They splashed into the water, the resulting waves lurching the ship and causing the captain to fall.

Jaune whooped, jumping into the air with a laugh. “Ha! They missed!”

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief, glad that it seemed to be over. Unfortunately, that was short-lived, as Streber suddenly screamed, “HIT THE DECK!”

(Spooks of the Seven Seas AU)

“You’re horrible!” Skid screamed up at the figure, fists clenched tightly. The figure did not move or say anything as the young boy continued to rage at them, the clouds around them swirling dangerously. “You’ve done nothing but put us all in danger! Everything you’ve done has caused nothing but pain!”

The clouds around them swirled faster, nipping at his clothes and skin, whipping his hair around, but he didn’t care. He was too volatile, too angry to care. “You didn’t care about what your actions did! You didn’t care that you hurt them! You didn’t care that you’d hurt me! Was I just your scapegoat, to take the fall for you after you were gone?!”

His voice rose in volume, cutting through the clouds as he screamed, “I hate you, I hate you, I hate you!”

(The Stars & Skid AU)

There was heavy footsteps coming out of the alleyway, and the Hatzgang flinched, whirling around. “We need to go!” Ross hissed, but Roy refused. He was tired of running away and being scared shitless by shadows. He glared into the alleyway, as if willing whatever was in there was going to come charging out, ignoring the way Ross and Robert kept trying to tug him away.

The footsteps continued, growing louder and louder, shaking the ground practically (or maybe that was just Ross and Robert shaking him), until the figure finally stepped out.

It wasn’t the strange man from earlier. It was that weirdo skeleton kid, standing there under the light. Smiling innocently at the group. Looking at him closely, Roy thought he could see… was that blood…?

(The Cryptid of Hallows AU)

“Oh! Kids, I got something for you,” Dexter said, grabbing the two’s attention. He dug through his pockets, grinning at their curiosity and the many questions that they threw his way, but shushed them. “Patience, patience. My pockets are kinda messy. Ah! Here they are.”

He took them out of his pocket, holding them behind his back as Skid and Pump tried to get a peek at them. His grin grew wider, before he brought his hand out and presented his present to them. “Tada! I saw you guys were interested in my keychain, so I got you guys one of your own!”

It was two keychains, similar to the one he had. For Pump, the iris was painted purple, while for Skid, the iris was painted orange. Skid and Pump took them, eyes wide. He laughed at their excited and awed expressions. “Well, do you guys like–?”

He was cut off when the two suddenly rushed him, arms wrapping around his stomach.

“Thank you so much, Uncle Dex!” Pump yelled, grinning. Skid nodded in agreement, hugging him tightly. “These are so spooky! We love them!”

Dexter stared at them, eyes wide. Then, he grinned, hugging them back just as tightly. Happiness swelled in his chest as he held them close, laughing. “Glad you like them, kiddos.”

My different versions of Dexter in my different Spooky Month AUs:

Dexter (After-Canon/Close-To-Canon) - Sometime after canon, Skid was able to help Dexter regain his body (after scaring the living daylights out of Patty). He's trying to get used to his own body again and get his needs back under control so that he doesn't hurt anyone. With the addition of whatever it was that Moloch left behind in his body, he’s struggling. But, despite it all, he's trying to live his life normally and has been able to make small progress through the years.

Happy (The Cryptid of Hallows AU) - Despite what his name suggests, Dexter is far from happy in this AU. He's still stuck in the doll (Though, Skid being aware that he's in it has made the situation slightly better), with no way to get to his actual body, living with a child with horrifying powers. He's definitely not happy with the situation, but he's content with it, seeing as the kid at least lets him go out of the house to fulfill his needs from time to time. He's also slowly growing attached, but he'd rather die again than admit that to anyone.

Fella (Everything Lost AU) - The nickname was given to him by Pump. He's not happy with it, but the kid saved his life (well, afterlife), so he'll tolerate it. At least until this whole 'undead-megalomaniac-taking-over-town' thing is done. Sometime during the takeover, his ghost had been released from the attic, only to again end up in a Happy Fella doll. He's tired, grieving, and on the verge of a mental breakdown. Luckily for him, he can target his anger at some unfortunate cultists and brainwashed townspeople.

Dio (The Stars & Skid AU) - The most timid version of Dexter, who is extremely clumsy and awkward. They're a Diopside, who are lower-class gems who are assigned to get rid of otherworldly pest or Pebbles (not actually canon, just something mod made up). They used to work within Violet Diamond's court, before they encountered the court's Morganite. The two gems bonded, forming a steadfast friendship that would get them in trouble many times over the millennium. This eventually culminated in the two forming Emerald, a fusion part of the Gems on Earth.

Plague (The Mystery of Hollow's End AU) - An antisocial and secretive teen, who has been suspected of being behind some of the kidnappings happening in town. The police have arrested him before for being a disturbance in public, often finding him fistfighting people who so much as bump into him on an off day. Definitely doesn't help him that his sister is one of those cops who have had to arrest him when he's having an off day. He's more important later on in the AU.

Scout (Spooky Diaries AU) - A mysterious stranger who constantly seems to be flipping between 'friend' and 'foe'. He keeps himself hidden away the majority of the time, watching and observing from the shadows with no clear reason as to why. He helps out one moment, but can just as suddenly attack the next. More work needed to flesh him out.

Butcher (Spooks of the Seven Seas AU) - A rude, blunt, and rough-around-the-edges guy, part of the Blind Shadow's crew. When he's not out fighting with the rest of the crew or getting forced to spar with the captain, he's down in the galley. 'For some reason', the captain assigned him to prepare meals for the rest of the crew. Most of who he is constantly threatening to murder, as they tease him about smelling like fish (Which he does not). Despite his harshness, he's thankful to Lila for letting him be part of her crew and helping him vent his 'needs' in less harmful ways.

Bonus (Walking Corpse AU - Finally got a name for it): Dexter - the real Dexter - was thankfully no longer trapped in a Happy Fella after the events of Deadly Smiles. He wandered around as a ghost, deciding to try and find his body. He visited his mother's house, just in case she might have a clue as to where it is, only to find someone else in his body walking around like nothing. He's obviously furious and decides to haunt the person until they give him back his body (or fight them for it, if it comes down to it.)

Lila won the polls, so she gets to go first. Here are my different versions of Lila in my different Spooky Month AUs:

Lila (After-Canon/Close-To-Canon AU) - Lila here is the same as she is in canon, being the caring and loving mother of Skid. However, this version is also very secretive, having constantly hidden things about Skid's father from him and others. Though she may or may not have been involved with the cult, she was implied to have a lot of knowledge about it, keeping some items hidden in the attic. Such a shame what happened to her...

Witch (The Cryptid of Hallows AU) - Again, this Lila is very similar to herself in canon. However, this one has been shown to have magical/mystical abilities, which she still struggles to control. She was unaware of what her husband was, but knew he was not human and that Skid would be similar to him. She does her best to take care of Skid, despite the added difficulties of his eldritch powers.

Queen (Everything Lost AU) - A cruel, cold-hearted version of Lila, who had accidentally resurrected Atticus in a moment of drunken grief after Hollow Sorrows. Her husband was surprisingly loving in the beginning, which should have been her first warning about his intentions after his return. Once Atticus took over, she tried to fight back, but was quickly overpowered and 'convinced' to join his side, sharing the same desire for power as him. Despite her heartless nature, there is still some part of her that wishes for the safety of her son, whom she has not seen since the start of the takeover.

Nebula (The Stars & Skid AU) - Lila takes the place of Greg in the Steven Universe show, the two of them sharing the single-parent role. Unlike Greg, Lila keeps her job as an architect, being gone from the house the majority of the time and leaving Skid in the care of his gem family. She does her best to care for him despite it, always trying to spend time with him when he's not off on his adventures and telling him the better parts of her relationship with his father.

Lavender (The Mystery of Hollow's End AU) - A variant of Lila with amnesia. She serves as the Velvet Room assistant to Carver, helping Kevin piece together the mysteries of Hollow's End and providing him with the ability to fuse Personas. Before, she was once Skid's mother and a friend to many residents in town, but had been mysteriously murdered alongside her husband. And though she has no memory of her son, there are still vague remnants of her kind and motherly self that show through her actions.

Captain (Spooks of the Seven Seas AU) - The fierce and terrifying pirate captain known as the Blind Shadow. This captain sails the seas with her crew, traveling from all over the kingdom. She seeks to protect the ones who were wronged by the world from those who take advantage of others. Though her methods are a bit unorthodox, they are nonetheless effective and have earned her the respect of many. Those who underestimate her due to her disability are swiftly taught that doing so is a foolish thing. But, despite her fierceness, she is still kind, treating her crew more like they are family and making sure that everyone who boards her ship is cared for. (She's one of my favorites)

As suggested by @crossover-enthusiast, here are my different versions of Skid (Simon/Jeremy) in my different Spooky Month AUs!

Skid (After-Canon/Close-To-Canon AU) - At first, Skid is exactly as he is in canon, only older. However, two certain incidents in his life happen that changed him quite a bit. Now, he's untrusting, bitter, and just a tad violent, refusing to form relationships after losing his two most important relationships. He's not entirely cold though, still showing kindness to the few people he knows will have his back.

Skull (The Cryptid of Hallows AU) - The 'spookiest' of the Skid variants. He's just like normal Skid, but much more unnerving and powerful, armed with an arsenal of eldritch abilities that he has no idea how to use properly. Eyes, being the only other eldritch being in town, takes to teaching him on how to use those abilities. Once he gets a better handle on them, Skid decides to use them to help the people in town, not realizing that he is scaring the utter crap out of them.

Lamb (Everything Lost AU) - Poor little Lamb. He witnessed something horrible the night that his father came to power, traumatizing him. Under his mother's instructions, he ran far into the forest and hid, protected by the being who Atticus betrayed. He's guilt-ridden, fearful, and stressed, wishing that everything would go back to the way things were.

Star (The Stars & Skid AU) - Lovely little Star, who is very much like his Steven Universe counterpart, Steven Universe. He's friendly, emotionally intelligent, and social to the point of annoyance. He loves visiting the Gems and going on adventures with them - At least, until the adventures start being less fun and more serious. Despite his fears and worries, he pushes through with a smile on his face, trying to be the little light of the ragtag group.

Skelekid (The Mystery of Hollow's End AU) - The adopted son of Jack, the town's deputy, and a child with a lot of unknown history. An accident occurred within his old home, leaving him an orphan with little to no memories. He wants to do his best to help Kevin investigate the case of the missing children (especially considering what happened with Pump in the previous year) and save the town from ruin!

Jem (Spooky Diaries AU) - The daughter of the previous lord of Star Falls, Jem is merely an infant throughout the beginning of the story, left on Atticus's doorstep by a mysterious stranger. Given that this is my newest AU, a bit more development is needed for her.

Skully (Spooks of the Seven Seas AU) - The son of the fearsome pirate captain Blind Shadow and the Captain of the Royal Navy. This little charmer is beloved by both his parents and sets out to make mischief on the pirate's ship alongside his best friend Pump. Despite their many pranks, the two have managed to endear themselves to the crew through their childish charm.

Spookyverse Drabbles: Spooky Month AUs

Welcome to the Spookyverse Drabbles! These are drabbles of anything I make relating to Spooky Month. This post is just a list of AUs that I have for Spooky Month and the plans I have for them.

The Cryptid of Hallows AU (Half-Eldritch/Cryptid Skid AU): An AU in which Skid's dad was actually an eldritch being and thus made Skid a cryptid with powers he has little control of. (One-Shots Planned)

Everything Lost AU: Skid's dad comes back with a giant ego, wanting to be a god. He takes over the town and basically imprisons them for a year while looking for Skid, who has disappeared. (Story Planned)

The Stars & Skid AU (Steven Universe AU): The plot of Steven Universe, but spook-ified. Prepare for angst mostly aimed at Skid, plus modified backstories for the gems. (Concepts, Story, + Art Planned)

The Mystery of Hollow's End AU (Persona AU): Every year on Halloween, 6 children go missing. No one knows why and it seems like everyone has given up trying. That is, until one kid comes back. Wilson Wonder, better known as Pump, was a child who disappeared the last Halloween and who has magically returned to town. However, something's wrong with him - He seems to be nothing but a shell of his former self. Kevin, a 16-year-old visiting his uncle Jack for the summer, is determined to figure out what exactly is causing these appearances. Even if it kills him. (Concepts + Story Planned)

Pump's turn! Here are my different versions of him (Wilson/Will) in my different Spooky Month AUs:

Pump (After-Canon/Close-To-Canon AU) - Pump used to be the same sweet, Spooky Month-loving kid he was in canon. But then, his parents came back and his whole family ended up moving him away somewhere else. They eventually moved back... but Pump was very different. He was rude, abrasive, and just a downright bully, with no more love for something as 'childish' as Spooky Month. Whatever happened while he was gone seemed to have changed him for the worse and has further soured his relationship with Skid.

Match (The Cryptid of Hallows AU) - Like Skull, he's just like normal Pump, except a little more unnerving. He has the habit of staring at people who he doesn't like or who he feels bully his friend - The fact that his eyes are almost constantly glowing especially doesn't help. Plus, unlike other people, he's not scared of his friend's creepy aura or terrifying abilities - In fact, he loves them! It makes Skid even spookier than he already is.

Lantern (Everything Lost) - Pump desperately misses his best friend and family. He hadn't seen any of them since the whole thing started - His family had gone out of town for a trip that he didn't want to go on, while Skid had simply vanished into thin air. He's hoping that they're doing okay. Currently, he lives in the shelter that the small rebellion has founded against Atticus and his court, occasionally going out to find more uncontrolled people to aid them.

Sword (The Stars & Skid AU) - The sword to Skid's shield, just like his Steven Universe counterpart Connie. He's kept on a schedule set by his parents, but sneaks away on occasion to hang out with Skid and the Gems, going on adventures or doing sword-fighting lessons. He's lives with Susie and their grandpa, with their parents almost always away at work as doctors. Since they've been gone for so long, he doesn't really feel as if he knows them - But he doesn't really care.

Pumpkid (The Mystery of Hollow's End AU) - Pump used to be a happy and go-lucky kid - Until he became one of the Missing. He disappeared on Halloween and mysteriously reappeared sometime in July, a shell of his former self. He can function just fine, but it seems like he has lost his previous spark of life. He doesn't speak and barely interacts with others, just sporting a blank stare the entire time. No one knows what happened to him, especially considering that he just won't talk to anyone.

Pumpy (Spooks of the Seven Seas AU) - His parents were merchants who brought him and his sister on ships with them. Once, their ship was attacked by pirates, but another pirate group, led by the Blind Shadow, saved them. When the crew was leaving, Pump snuck aboard, quickly befriending the captain's son Skid. His parents were of course terrified when they discovered he was missing, but were quickly reassured that he was safe and in good hands. Now he lives aboard the ship with the crew, traveling the seas.

My versions of Atticus (Skiddad) in my different Spooky Month AUs:

Atticus (After-Canon/Close-To-Canon AU) - Charming and manipulative Cult Leader, who will lie and cheat others just to get them to do his dirty work. However, not entirely heartless - Not in love with Lila, but still fond of her and cares a lot about Skid. Did consider some cultist friends rather than just servants. Cause of death unknown.

Speak (The Cryptid of Hallows AU) - The nicest variant of Atticus, despite being an unholy eldritch being. He was originally part of a trio - 'See no evil, Hear no evil, Speak no evil' - but was sealed away somehow. He genuinely cared for Lila and even more so for Skid, wanting to teach him how to use his abilities. Cause of disappearance is unknown, but related to Eyes.

King (Everything Lost AU) - The cruelest variant of Atticus, being an undead megalomaniac who completely took over the town and some of the residents, turning it into his own personal kingdom/chessboard. He's hellbent on becoming a being that's more powerful than the Eyes, but needs only one more sacrifice to do so, that being his own son. Lila had accidentally brought him back to life sometime after Hollow Sorrows in a drunk sorrow.

Violet/Amethyst (The Stars & Skid AU) - Very similar to the Steven Universe counterpart, Pink Diamond. However, started out much more selfishly and cruel (due to the abuse and manipulation he suffered at the hands of the other diamonds), playing everything out as a game and treating the other gems as toys. Slowly grew out of those views and ways, becoming a better person until the moment of his death. His past choices still affect Skid heavily. Cause of 'death' is the birth of Skid, as he had to give up his gem for Skid to live.

Carver (The Mystery of Hollow's End AU) - A variant of Atticus with amnesia. He's a strange and eccentric fellow, taking on the role of Igor from the Persona series. Before this, he had been living as the leader of the cult responsible for the disappearances of the children in town, only to be betrayed and murdered alongside his wife. Now he's helping Kevin try to save the town and uncover the reason as to why the children went missing.

Lord (Spooky Diaries AU) - The most out-of-character version, in comparison to the others. He is kind, helpful, and fatherly, leading the village of Star Fall as best as he can. He does his best for the villagers he protects, despite having no leadership skills whatsoever, and is constantly out adventuring to do quests or gather materials. He is one of the few who did not die in any way.

Navy (Spooks of the Seven Seas AU) - Captain of the Royal Navy, who is constantly at war with the infamous pirates led by the Blind Shadow. Cunning, cruel, and competent, he leads the fleet across the seas, carrying out the king's will. (Need to work on him more)

More about the AU!

I have a lot of scenarios running around in my head but in this post, I'm listing out some of Skid's abilities-

Immunity: Skid is generally immune to the effects of other supernatural beings, like the Eyes' hypnosis and Moloch's possession. However, this immunity can be waived if Skid gives his permission. Ex: In Hollow Sorrows, the possession of Skid and Pump by Moloch wouldn't work if Skid doesn't give Moloch permission to do so.

Hypnosis: Like the Eyes, Skid can hypnotize people too. His eyes turn a bright blank white, as opposed to the Eyes cyan color, and so do the eyes of the people he hypnotizes. His effect is weaker than the Eyes though and doesn't linger afterward.

Constructs: Unconsciously or consciously, Skid can create constructs of sorts, that he can use to either fight or defend with. A lot of the common constructs he makes are related to Halloween, most notably skeleton skulls or pumpkin heads.

Projection: Unconsciously, Skid projects a very unnatural and unnerving aura, causing those who are unused to him to be very... cautious around him. In the dark, these projections are even worse, making him appear to be a sort of terrifying unnatural being (like in The Stars with the thieves breaking into his house, where he first appeared as an actual skeleton, but much worse)

These are only some abilities that I could come up with at the moment. I may add more later on as I continue to develop the AU.

Spooky Month AU Idea

(My boyfriend showed me this once and got me obsessed with it lol) SO! Idea for an AU based on what I've seen in some comments on the video series or in edits: Half-Eldritch/Cryptid Skid AU.

Synopsis: Everyone in town knows those two weirdo kids who dress in skeleton/pumpkin costumes and act as if every day were "Spooky Month". They were annoying and seemed to bring trouble wherever they went, but they weren't that bad. However, people have been noticing something... off, about one of them. The skeleton kid, Skid. There's something different about him, that makes people's skins crawl and fills them with an uneasy dread whenever he walks by. They try their best to ignore it; After all, one slightly weirder kid isn't as bad as the other stuff going on in their town, right? ...right? (In which Skid is a little sweet cryptid who protects the people in town with powers he doesn't exactly know how to use properly and doesn't understand why people are so freaked by them)

In this, instead of Skid's dad being a cult leader, he would instead be some sort of eldritch like the Eyes of the Universe (or "Eyes"). He was originally worshiped by the Cult, but had "disappeared", leading them to worship the Eyes instead. Lila (who he did like in this AU) had no idea about it, just trying her best to raise their son after her husband has "disappeared". Skid's not aware of what his dad was either, but he is aware of the cool "spooky" abilities that no one else can do. Pump thinks they're amazingly "spooky" too and everyone else is just slightly weirded out by the little guy. I'm planning on maybe doing a series of one-shots for this AU, mostly depicting people's reactions to Skid being a little cryptid, with some plots of the episodes being slightly changed. It's been on my mind for at least a month and I hope that I can at least start the one-shots before my fixation moves on.
