I caved and finally made a Trolls oc. I don’t have a lot on her, but she’s a precious bean.

Briar is a pop troll, but she loves all kinds of music. She briefly lost her cool after feeling like she didn’t fit in amongst her fellow pop trolls when she just no longer felt happy singing or dancing to the pop music, but once she heard other music her color came back. She definitely enjoys rock more than pop, but purely because she’s gotten tired of hearing only pop for her whole life. Variety is key in keeping her happy. She got the skull belt after the events of World Tour because she just loved it so much. The flower in her hair is a clip on jewelry type thing, the flower is fake because she would have to constantly get a new flower every time the original one died. As stated above she lowkey a fan of BroZone. She liked them a lot when she was younger, but now that she’s older she feels silly for being so into the group. Though that does stop her from occasionally listening to their record every once in awhile as a way to just let her be herself.

I really only caved and made a Trolls oc because of @tea0w0stache and @0ketlyn-s Brotherhood AU. It’s so good and I love all the designs and love Bruce (Spruce is just my favorite character in the Trolls canon anyways). That love has been channeled into my oc (for the fun of it) because I have her having a crush on Bruce but she really just keeps it to herself. However, as an outcast (because she’s not that big of a fan of how the pop trolls worship JD, Bruce and Floyd like they’re a godsend) she does occasionally talk to Poppy about things because she really doesn’t know who else to talk to that just will listen. Plus, Briar really isn’t good with socializing. She tends to stick to herself and just makes things that could possibly make their hidden existence better. She would love to be more sociable, but prefers to view things from a distance. The flower skirt she wears is actually something she’s made. She’s pretty good at making outfits, but she makes other things. Especially if she’s in a really creative mood.

Don’t take what I said for the Brotherhood AU seriously since it’s not my AU and I purely made that version of her for fun. BH!Poppy and BH!Bruce do not belong to me, they belong to Dex and Ket. As far as I know the AU is still underdevelopment and whatnot. If you’re interested go check out both of their blogs and ask them about it. I’m purely an outsider just looking in and creating a bit of fun (and small bit of fanart). Go support the two of them, they’re really cool people!!!

Anyways, idk if I’ll actually do much with Briar since I just couldn’t resist making a Trolls oc any longer. With that being said hope you all enjoyed the art! 🛒 What are some common things you incorporate in your fics? Themes, feels, scenes, imagery, etc.

I'm drawn like a moth to a flame to people digging at each other's character flaws. A lot of my stuff has been described as visceral (love that word) so I'm very into sensations, feelings, moments of connection and disconnect rather than plot or stuff that's more incidental. I've found recently I've had a lot of reflection on small mundane intimacies pop up lol, I'm weak for that every time.

🦅 Do you outline fics or fly by the seat of your pants?

It's more towards pantsing! Longer fics I will have some key words per chapter that I want to explore. For example, the current chapter outline for Breath and Rosewater says:

6: The underdark 1 - The Zhentarim, lenore’s tower, eating food, Ket, the myconids and the quest.

That's about all I ever do. The mid-length stuff, I tend to write a scene-hook sentence like a sketch then add to it. The short stuff I may just type into browser because why not. Let that creativity flow! Control, Even if Love, and all of my prompts are done that way.

I - Inventor - How creative is their thinking? Do they seek out the opinions of others or rely on their own ideas? What’s their problem solving approach?

Does she seek the opinions of others? Absolutely not! They should be asking for her opinion! There are only two people whose opinions matter, and that she would seek out... and really, she only seeks one of their opinions. Her boss, whom she respects immensely, and her lover! They are both wise, strong, and fearsome - men who are respected among the criminal underground, who have achieved precisely what she wants, and see the world through the same lens she does. But Ketsuchi, her lover, is who she turns to for most things she has questions about - she trusts his opinions and knows that their outlook on the world is the same, so he won't be steering her astray (plus after years of RP together, she has seen that he knows his shit, and respects that he knows more than her about the things she wants to be involved in... and she kind of puts him on the proverbial pedestal).

Problem solving... depends on the problem! It's funny to me that people get this very... violent vibe from Jak? It feels like people expect that her first reaction would be to punch someone, or attack them - and that's actually a last resort to solving a problem unless her hand is forced! Cats don't like to fight! Cats posture! Fighting may result in an injury that will then mean death - and I like making my anthro-people be heavily influenced by the animal they're based on... otherwise, why play an animal person?? Just play a Hyur! That said, Jak uses her words - she's talking circles around people, poking their weakspots, winding them up, making them uncomfortable... her weapons are her words, and they're just as sharp as the knives hidden on her person! If it's a big, complex problem though, she'll probably ask Kets for his opinion on what to do. She's learned a lot from him, actually, and has followed in his footsteps in paying 'little birds' to go about and spy and keep eyes on things for her... like how things are going in Garlemald.

As for how creative she is? She's an artist at heart and in reality - she gets all the artistic talent I wish I'd gotten! She can play piano by ear, and has nigh-photographic memory when she's drawing, and is an exceedingly talented artist! (She's also a superb cook!) This creative thinking uh, pairs well with her vicious insight and ability to sling insults.

Music Practice #001

I've always wondered how music can create such vivid emotions. I watched music theory videos and read some about it, and tried to get down and create my own.

There was a problem. I didn't know how to execute the theory. I had played flute for several years in my childhood, and I could read some sheets, but flute usually has only one line, and the keys and scales didn't really matter to me as a kid focusing on performing.

Now I am trying to learn the basics of piano and kets and scales, how to play and mix them.

I believe in repetition and practice, and I believe creativity can be acquired only when you stand on the mountain of practice and proficiency. My creativity in music will grow as I practice using them and listening to them when I want to, not after practicing my small bit for 3hours. That will significantly slow down my creative process.

firstly, i got that job.

i got that job.

i got that job.

the offer came exactly a week ago, and somehow i never cared to write (more like, bark) about it. now i had a few drinks and some quiet time(not exactly worry-free)... so, i'll write something.

i think i know what this it. it is just one thing after another. this time i'm 100% fulfilling my DREAM and getting everything i wanted out of the situation... it feels nice. i feel calm, a little stressed, and somewhat confused. it feels kinda unreal seeing how folks who had witnessed how hard i worked for this were so so happy for me. i don't think i had my moment of pure joy/excitement yet. if anything i felt small, and indifferent. weird stuff, this.

anyway. been working with the lawyer(who's very kind and responsive, to my surprise) to work out the visa situation. can't believe i'm renewing it again. only had my current one for less than 2 months lol. why does everything happen so freaking fast???

i miss rambling like this. i used to write so much more often. gosh, i used to write every other day. what stops me? or is it like i'm going through some cycle, and i will cycle back to writing a lot eventually, again. haha, i think that is what it is.

ok now reflection time. hmmmm. ok. friendship. ugh, the big one. well. hmm. can't seem to be able to put my thoughts into words rn, but friendship has been on my mind. ok

what's next. creative stuff. hmm. haven't done that in a while, not even once after my art show a few weeks ago. i was fully consumed by the interviews then the offer. and honestly, honestly. haven't been doing anything that's unrelated. really need to work on this work-life balance thing huh.

this so far has been a rather...depressing post for sharing the ultimate good news. so what else. had dinner last night w/ K at my fav Chinese restaurant and had my fav dish(the eggplant stir-fry is fucking 🔥). my beloved roommates threw a party for me the day before yesterday, at that fancy wine bar with ridiculously good bar food. ket postponing the Okinawa trip w/ my roommate and feeling real bad about it(not like i want it like this. got too much on my plate T_T) been buying a ton of (good) shit since the offer bc the salary package exceed my expectation by at least 20%. so far i've got 3 new inks and 2 new fountain pens, and some misc. miffy goods lol

circling back to the friendship talk. from now on i will be more mindful about whom i'm spending time with. i've always believed in people's intentions being what matter, but the actions and the energy, man. that. that shit is real. me at my current capacity can not handle too much of negativity and thoughtlessness. that's that.

okay! guess i'll end here. got another lunch date with Domi tomorrow. haven't seen her in a long while...i'll try writing more here.

AHHHHHHH I FANT BELIVE YOU TOOK OUR SILLY LITTLE DOMESTIC SPENCER CONVERSATION AND TURNED INTO THIS MASTERPIEVE 👏👏👏👏👏

A gentle breeze rustled the trees as you and Spencer were sitting outside on the patio.

Both of you had just woken up around half an hour ago and seeing the beautiful state of the weather you decided to have your breakfast outside, taking it all in.

Spencer was quickly going through a crossword while you were peeling an orange and putting every other slice to his lips so he’d be reminded to actually eat something. His hair was still a mess, he had washed it last night and gone to bed with the strands still a bit damp, which resulted in it looking fluffier than usual. His glasses were perched on his nose and you saw them move every time his eyebrows furrowed and his lips moved as he mumbled the next question to himself.

Spencer looked up to take a sip from his coffee and your eyes met, a smile instantly forming on each other’s faces. It had been a while since the two of you got to experience a peaceful morning and now that it’s finally happening it felt like a fairytale.

Spencer rested his hand on the middle of the table, palm facing upwards, and you took it as a sign and placed your hand in his. Both of your fingers intertwined and Spencer ran his thumb over the back of your hand.

“I’ve missed this.”

“I have too.”

You took Spencer’s hand and brought it up to your lips for a sweet kiss which made him chuckle. He slipped his hand out of your grasp and rested it on your cheek, his thumb caressing it gently.

As you leaned into his palm and your eyes fluttered shut you listened to the birds singing, their cheery chirping reminding you of yours and Spencer’s laughter, bringing up a memory of you both walking in the park and how you ended up chasing each other. Spencer ended up catching you in his arms and you both tumbled down on the ground laughing hysterically. Your elbow ended up getting slightly bruised, but the pain was never evident as Spencer spent the rest of the night kissing it better.

You snapped out of your thoughts as Spencer tapped your cheek with the pad of his thumb and brushed some hair behind your ear.

“What’re you thinking about?”

“Oh just a funny memory.”

“Oh? Which one?”

You chuckled and kissed his palm, “Finish your coffee first before it gets cold and then maybe I’ll tell you.”

Week 3 - Tumblr Case Study

So first of all, what does 'digital community' even mean?

A. Ant Ozok and Panayiotis Zaphiris (2009, p. 14) define a digital community as a collection of people who connect with one another and exchange ideas and information primarily via digital platforms and online channels.

From that point, how does Tumblr function as a digital community?

Tumblr serves as a digital community, allowing users to produce and share various material, encourage engagement, and promote privacy and anonymity (Tiidenberg & Gómez Cruz, 2015). Tumblr focuses on creative self-expression, allowing users to share brief messages, GIFs, videos, images, and text to express themselves and connect with others. Using hashtags helps users find similar information, connect with others, and build communities around certain topics of interest (Hillman, Procyk, & Neustaedter 2014). ⁤

Tumblr's unique characteristic is its content flexibility, allowing users to express themselves artistically and personally. Tumblr's reputation for innovation, independence, and sharing varied viewpoints and art stems from its freedom. Tumblr's anonymity allows users to explore their identities and share content without the constraints of real-world social relationships, providing freedom and safety in self-expression (Ogden 2022). However, Tumblr's large user base, including minors, has led to challenges in maintaining control and regulating content. ⁤⁤In the past, the network grappled with the appearance of explicit and sensitive content, prompting the installation of stronger controls. ⁤⁤In response to these concerns, Tumblr prohibited the uploading of sexually explicit content, resulting in the removal of over 100,000 accounts (admin_khuong 2019). ⁤⁤Despite obstacles, Tumblr is a digital community where users share interests, engage in discussions, and enrich digital culture. ⁤

Hashtags and Search: Hashtags are a useful tool for users to help organize material and make searching easier. This facilitates the development of linkages between users and postings about related subjects.

Special Topics and Communities: Through particular topics, users can take part in special communities. This creates places where people may meet and engage with one another who share their interests, viewpoints, or needs.

Content Freedom: Tumblr is well-known for both its variety and content freedom. It is encouraged for users to creatively and personally express who they are and what they think.

All of these elements together create a unique and creative community on Tumblr. A place where users not only share opinions and art but also connect through common interests and hobbies. Tumblr is a place that values creativity and independence in addition to being a media platform.

Tumblr's vulnerability With a large number of users, including children from 13 years old. Too many images and sensitive content on Tumblr are the result of loose control and unclear usage regulations. Pornography also appears. This affects many users. It also cannot meet the standards of the iOS app store. Since December 2018, Tumblr has banned the posting of any sexually explicit material. Thanks to that, Tumblr is back on the iOS platform, but it comes at a price: more than 100,000 accounts have disappeared, and that number will continue to increase.
