I know it's an exciting question to think about how Germaine would look when it's through Mahiru's eyes. But I think that whole idea would be so sexy if Mahiru looks at him and he doesn't have a face.
Nothing. A black void you could maybe see his eyes peaking out from. Those distinct ticks on his irises.
Because Mahiru realizes that the Count who has a different profile in the eyes of anyone who views him never looks like himself. It's a play on when he was telling Kuro that he could be anything he wanted him to be. A parent, a partner, enemies, lovers, and that they were strangers then. He can morph into anything Kuro wants him to be so long as he can stay and understand him. The choice once again relies solely on Sleepy Ash.
Germaine has not presented himself as himself. As anything he wants to be in favor of trying to force himself where he isn't wanted.
When Mahiru sees him, he understands him as a person who has lost their form and identity outside of Sleepy Ash in his grief. Germaine has a blank face. Shrouded in a black he has to dispel himself.
If Mahiru can teach him that when you try to figure out how and why something (someone) is so beautiful, when you grab at it and dissect to understand what makes it so, you destroy it. And it will never be the thing of beauty you once saw it as again. If he can teach him that the Adam he loved died permanently when his body was first killed and the vampire that stands now has willingly taken a new identity.

The upcoming chapter 148 has the title "Incomplete" and I really hope that means the story will give us some answers regarding the count.
I know the writer doesn't have much time left (even with the extra volume they were given), but establishing that the count set basically the entire plot of servamp in motion because he had a weird obsession with adam and wanted to "complete" kuro by becoming one person with him... only to then seemingly abandon all that to act like a tool for mikuni's plans for no known reason really rubs me the wrong way?
Like...why would the count care what mikuni wants? Mikuni messed up the count's plan and put him in the wrong body. Shouldn't that matter? Or shouldn't there at least be an explanation for why the count is okay with being used like that?
Maybe the writer could reveal the conversation kuro and the count had before kuro "killed" him? Kuro said the count didn't say anything to him, but back when mahiru entered kuro's mind for the first time he saw that they had a conversation, he just couldn't make out the words. That could be used to explain the count's change of mind.
Or they could reveal that the count has only been toying with mikuni, letting him play god for a while until he drives himself insane as revenge for being so arrogant to mess with the count's goals.
Idk. I just feel like throwing so much that was set up about the count away to go "nah, it doesn't matter, he's fine doing whatever mikuni wants and has no own goals or motivations anymore" is not a satisfying ending.
#servamp#mikuni alicein#I'm already kind of annoyed that the story made a big deal about pandora needing to reach the gate to create a servamp#the heroes spent ages trying to stop that#and then mikuni created the 9th servamp even though pandora had been stopped?#like...are we going to get an explanation for that?#please tell me that the count is just fucking with mikuni as punishment for his hubris

The relationship between Kuro and Germaine is kind of a reversal of the one between Victor and Adam in Frankenstein. In Servamp, it is the creation who abhors his creator, and the creator who desires companionship but is rebuffed at every turn.
It is the creator who is innocent of their own horrid actions, lacking understanding of the fears of humans, and the monster he has created who rebukes him, recoils from his desire for affection. Kuro, like Victor, drags his grief and misery with him like chains, unable to appreciate the world around him, unable to forgive himself for the crime he has committed, and ultimately resolving to murder in an attempt to assuage his own guilt.
And it is Germaine who seeks to fill a void, one his creation cannot give him, a connection others misunderstand and run from because of the inhumanity of his attempts to gain it.
Neither Germaine nor Victor cared for the feelings of their creation. Selfishly, they gave life where there was none.
Neither Kuro nor Adam asked to be brought into existence. Both of them view their beings with disdain and turmoil.
There is something very special about the way this relationship is formed, the one between Kuro and Germaine, because it’s no relationship at all. It’s like… It’s like dealing with a toddler. Germaine hasn’t been taught to be kind. He holds no malice in his actions. He’s a selfish, self centered being, but he doesn’t wish harm on anyone (that we’ve seen so far)
He simply has a goal he wants to fulfill
Throughout the story, Germaine has been built as this… insidious character. The way other characters talk about him, the way his actions are framed to us, the viewpoint of the other servamps like Hugh, Lily, even Ildio… He’s often drawn in a very sinister way.
And yet
When we meet him for the first time, really meet him… He’s a bumbling fool. He’s a man(?) trapped in grief. His face is gentle, his actions benign. He only gives what is asked for.
He’s someone whose sinister nature comes not from his motives, but from how they are so utterly incompatible with a human way of thinking.
I really am not sure what to make of him except to think that he’s a child. A very, very powerful child.
One no one has taught things like what it means to hurt someone. One who hasn’t experienced guilt.
One who hasn’t learned how to deal with fear, or pain, or loss
Who are you, Vainglory?
No, really.
Who are you, Count Saint Germaine, creator of the Servamps, a man so terrified of loss, you make others lose everything in your stead?
Are you a natural being? Or did someone, something, create you?

Okay, I'll post it on my page in rough sketches for now, simply under the name SERVAMP HOSPITAL AU
① Count Saint-Germain is the head doctor of the hospital 😇 He is harshly ignored by the pediatrician Kuro, who does not attend general staff meetings with him Saint-Germain is very sad because of this 🥹💔

So instead of Germaine having to take the form of a "stranger" like I thought before, he really takes a physical form based on the person that sees him. How they feel about him.
I wonder exactly how he looks to Tsubaki's eyes when he shows up. I wonder what "mentor" or "savior" or whatever Tsubaki thinks of him gets shown as.
...And I'm sure that Mahiru has seen through him a little bit thanks to Kuro's memories. The way he cried digging up Adam from his early grave. I wonder what he'll look like to him? Something completely different and perhaps more accurate to Germaine himself. "A grieving man", may be how Mahiru sees him, how he understands him as.
Also, on another note that I'd been meaning to write before... Will anybody really be able to remember the ritual when all is said and done?
There have been two points that make me believe that the only proper documentation of the rituals that have been done by him are written by the Count himself, stored in C3's archives under heavy protection. The only reason others know more than eight rituals have been done. As we've seen in an earlier chapter, Lawless witnessed Ildio's ritual. He was there and watched it all go down but a bit earlier than that there was a panel in which the question of "How did he do it" was brought up to Lawless, in which his response was more or less "I don't know and I don't care, leave me alone."
I believe that the ritual can only be remembered by the caster and the victim.
And yes, I know the victim is usually dead for this but I have a reason for saying that:
Simply, Touma and Tsurugi.
Touma has tried to recreate Germaine's rituals to turn Tsurugi into a Servamp he could control. He failed. Tsurugi woke up surrounded by the bodies of those he killed, people who were also helping in the experiment and Touma has said that "Even those who were watching from a distence, their memories were unnaturally erased." Only Tsurugi and Touma remember the ritual being done at all, everyone who knows about it after having to learn through the reports.
It makes me wonder just how many rituals Germaine has done. How many people have seen him in different, personalized forms, how many bodies he's failed to resurect and how many in-canon historical disasters covered up by his memory-altering spell were really him.
I'm extremely excited to see him again. (And somewhat more excited to see Lily cut him away from the vessel he ends up choosing. I do not think it will be Tsurugi though.)

I have been keeping up with Servamp and the new chapters but I haven't really talked about it. Some issues in my life had kept me offline. But there is one thing that I thought of while ago that I found interesting and just remembered.
The headless skeleton is named "Pandora". I'm sure that people can make the obvious connection to Pandora's box since that is her most famous story. But I'll also like to point out that Pandora was the "first woman" made by Hephaestus. The jar was opened and released misfortune, illness and the famine. (Though Servamp has Pandora steal the soul, emotion and Jinn of people in Tokyo instead of spreading those things).
Her story parallels Eve's story and the apple of knowledge. Since Kuro's human name was Adam, I like the little detail. I'm certain that Sensei created the Pandora spell so it would match Kuro similar to how he named a Servamp's master to be "Eve". Sensei's ultimate goal for immortality was to be joined with Kuro by using his body as a vessel when he's revived.
There was one blessing in Pandora's box and that was Elpis, the spirit of hope. It's said that she was trapped inside and later "that is why Elpis alone is still found among the people, promising that she will bestow on each of us the good things that have gone away."
Mahiru is "the key" who can use Elpis to find hope within someone's heart. That hope can be used to stop someone like Touma from sacrificing Tsurugi by reminding him that Tsurugi was his hope for the future. I wonder if he will have a role in the ritual to connect all three characters (Kuro, Mahiru and Sensei) with the Pandora reference.

Pandora
i'm sooo sorry for not posting anything recently, I have been really busy, I still haven't had time to write about ch 131 but I Will try to do it asap
There is a Greek myth about a woman named Pandora who was created by the gods. The gods were planning to use Pandora as a form of punishment towards Prometheus who gave humankind fire. During the creation of Pandora each of the gods gave her something, and they also made her very curious. The gods gave her a box and told her that under no circumstances she must never open the box, but being made to be curious, she did and inside were disease, war, hunger ,ECT. She managed to shut the box but all that remained was hope. You probably are wondering how this relates to servamp right? With the translations of ch 130 out, and knowing how strike has references to other story's I have came up with three random theories of how these relate. First as shown in the past using the Pandora wrecks havoc where ever it goes, similar to how if Pandora from the Greek myth were to open the box terrible things would be released. Next the box should never be opened ever, which I think means that the Pandora should never be used, even if it seems kind to bring someone back to life. (someone like kuro who had a whole life ahead of him) Last and probably the most complicated, once the Pandora goes through the gate I believe that hope is returned to the vessel in the form of the demon(core), so that the soul get to hope again and have another future.
I think the vessel, blood and spirit also play a part in this. The vessel already exists, but the blood no longer gives life, and the spirit has left the body after death, as explained by tsubaki when asking kuro if he would save mahiru's uncle. I think that the jinn and the blood become one to give the body life, and the demon brings the spirit back to vessel and then the jinn is sealed Inside, that's why the servamps still have there old memories they still have there souls.I believe that the whole process of creating a servamp is pulled off by the sake of hope the only thing left inside of Pandora's box. I see the Pandora as the one collecting the jinn and once it's through the gate it the demon and the soul are put back by the that tiny skeleton thing and the thing on the counts necklace. I also see this whole concept of hope is also pointing towards the demon. The sins have always been hated I wonder if it was hope for the demon to be accepted as well as for the dead. One thing completely unrelated did the count discover this or did someone teach him? Were there any failures before kuro? Why (besides he didn't like death)? What is his goal? Everything about the count is mystery.(and my writing to lol)
