BIO:
Fenrir Ulrik Greyback was born in Norway to Anders and Freya Greyback, where he resided for the early years of his life. As a child, he was curious and inquisitive and spent a lot of time outside. He loved exploring the natural world, and particularly enjoyed nights when the auroras were strong and his mother would get him bundled into a snowsuit and take him out for a walk to experience the lights. His parents were wizards, but this was a natural magic and he found it fascinating. It was one such evening where a full moon shone amongst the auroras, and neither Fenrir or Freya heard the noise of a werewolf approaching them before the beast was already upon them. It attacked Fenrir first, sinking large teeth into his neck with claws shredding at his skin. He doesn’t remember anything beyond that until he woke up in the hospital with his father by his side, looking older than he ever had before. His mother was gone, having died being attacked whilst trying to pull the werewolf away from Fenrir.
Family life was never quite the same again. With Freya gone, all joy seemed to be sapped from Anders. Fenrir’s life shrunk to being home-schooled by Anders who was terrified that his son’s condition would get out if he was sent to a proper school, and the whole family would be shunned. His father stopped talking to others about Fenrir’s existence immediately, and though Fenrir never realised, he had modified the healers memories so they believed he had died with Freya. Anders told Fenrir that his condition was something to be ashamed of, something to dread. Gradually, Fenrir began to resent his treatment. Each full moon bought a newer bitterness, and as he grew up, his wolfish side began to grow stronger. As a pup, he’d found enough room to roam around the cellar that he was locked in – but with each passing month, and each passing year, he longed to be free at the full moon.
When Fenrir was fifteen, the pair relocated to Scotland where Anders was due to take up a ministry job. On the first full moon since they moved, Fenrir broke free from his bonds and killed his father. When he awoke the following morning, he was several miles away from their home in a forest, and another man was standing over him. The other man was in a similar state to Fenrir, skin torn and grey, and he offered Fenrir a hand of friendship. It was the first time he’d met another werewolf in their human form, and life was then forever changed. For the next few years, Fenrir hardly touched his wand at all. Fenrir’s disappearance from public life in Norway had done him favours, and nobody knew Fenrir had entered Britain with his father. A quick trip home to gather his belongings and transfigure his father’s body into a stick with the guidance of the older wizard, and Fenrir finally found a pack of werewolves to call family. What the ministry made of Anders disappearance, Fenrir neither knew nor cared.
For the next few years, Fenrir hardly touched his wand at all. He grew into a fully fledged werewolf, unashamed of his condition. With each passing month his power grew, and so did his thirst for blood. No longer was his father holding him back, and instead he had a pack that encouraged him to embrace his true nature. At seventeen years old, Fenrir had risen in importance amongst their pack and he had started to gain a reputation for himself as a vicious, blood-thirsty beast. He got confident and cocky in his own abilities as a beast, until he murdered two muggle children and was brought before the Ministry of Magic for questioning the following morning.
Relying on his Norwegian upbringing, and the fact he had not attended Hogwarts as a child, Fenrir played dumb. He feigned ignorance of the English language and asked the ministry workers to repeat their questions many times until he understood. His wand had been left at home because of the full moon so there was no evidence that he was a magical being, and he pretended that he had did not know of the existence of wizards. One ministry member, Lyall Lupin, identified the tell-tale scars on Fenrir's neck and tried insisting that he be held until the full moon to see if he transformed, but the rest of the ministry committee did not see value in this to Fenrir's delight. As they were releasing Fenrir, Lyall had spat that Fenrir, and all werewolves, were soulless, evil and deserving of nothing but death. Fenrir hid his rage, but vowed revenge on the man for his prejudice.
Biding his time, Fenrir spent a few months quietly watching Lyall Lupin until he discovered where the other man lived. Then it was simply a matter of waiting for the right time until he attacked the young Remus Lupin, biting him deeply to ensure that he became infected with lycanthropy. Lyall arrived quickly enough, but still too late. The deed was done - Remus had been intentionally infected, and it gave Fenrir a taste of what was to come.
In the following years, Fenrir carefully started to integrate himself into wizarding society. Fenrir works as a chef at the White Wyvern, a position that suits him well. His employers don't question Fenrir dictating his working hours around the full moon, and working in a kitchen means that he doesn't have to be seen by anyone other than his co-workers. He has started actively practicing magic again, particularly the dark arts, though he still prefers to rely on his natural brawny strength in a fight than his magical ability.
As the tension continues to build for the war, Fenrir has found a place amongst the Death Eaters, where he is more than happy to do their dirty work as long as it gives him access to further potential victims. Voldemort's refusal to offer Fenrir the dark mark has rubbed Fenrir the wrong way, and he sees the way the other Death Eaters look at him as lesser yet he bides his time. He has continued to rise amongst his pack, eventually killing his former mentor and taking his place as the leader of the pack. Their mission is to infect as many humans as possible, with the dream of creating a werewolf army that could eventually challenge wizards for dominance in society.
Whilst bringing more wolves into the pack that Fenrir leads, he grew close to a half-blood werewolf named Nancy Edwards. The pair were together for several years, and as the result of a few drunken, reckless nights, they had a son together called Magnus. Fenrir and Nancy are no longer together romantically, but they are amicably raising Magnus together. Magnus is also a werewolf, having inherited the condition by virtue of both of his parents being true lycanthropes. Fenrir is proud of his now five year old son, and is raising him with virtues that he believes will make him a strong future leader of a pack.

Books read in July
After I read How to Find Love in a Bookshop, I searched the library’s catalogue for other titles containing “bookshop” or “bookstore”. I was curled up in bed with a bad cold at the time, which meant I ended up choosing a bunch of books whose covers or synopses would have, on a different day, put me off. And that worked out rather well!
But afterwards I felt like I didn’t get the right balance between contemporary fiction and fantasy this month.
Favourite cover: Minor Mage by T. Kingfisher.
Still reading: The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert.
Next up: Mort by Terry Pratchett. Maybe The Queens of Innis Lear by Tessa Gratton.
(Longer reviews and ratings are on LibraryThing. And also Dreamwidth.)
– (they’ve taken away page breaks) –
Things a Map Won’t Show You: stories from Australia & Beyond, edited by Susan La Marca and Pam Macintyre: I borrowed this because I recognised some of the names involved. I liked bits and pieces of it but nothing really stood out. Maybe Peta Freestone’s “Milford Sound”, for the setting. According to the introduction, the stories and poems were chosen “with the curriculum in mind and for their appeal to Year Seven and Eight readers”. That’s a valid reason but I suspect that approach is unlikely to result in a collection that would really appeal to me, not me now and not even when I was a young teenager.
A Thousand Sisters: The Heroic Airwomen of the Soviet Union in World War II by Elizabeth Wein: This is AMAZING. It is aimed at young people, and I wondered if I’d find the writing style too simplistic, but it was just remarkably accessible. I knew bits about Russia’s history but this gave me a much more comprehensive understanding of the culture and politics these women grew up with, and how Russia came to have three regiments of airwomen at a point in time when other countries wouldn’t let women fly into war. The rest of the book is just as fascinating and surprising. Wein knows how to tell a story.
How to Find Love in a Bookshop by Veronica Henry: This is about Emilia, who inherits her father’s bookshop in a picturesque Cotswold village, and the bookshop’s customers. It doesn’t shy away from Emilia’s grief but otherwise is very much a cosy, optimistic story in which friends are made, relationships are mended, mistakes are overcome and everything turns out all right. Which definitely has its appeal. I wanted just a few more sharp edges -- or else slightly more uncertainty -- so that everyone’s happy endings felt more realistic. (I keep brainstorming ways that could have been managed.) Although I didn’t love this book, there was a lot I liked about it.
The Masquaraders by Georgette Heyer (narrated by Ruth Sillers): This is ridiculous but still quite entertaining. Either I missed something or Heyer doesn’t really do a great job of explaining why Prudence and her brother Robin need to be in disguise, nor why they’ve decided the best way to do this is by crossdressing. The key to enjoying this book was to just roll with it. Also Prue’s romantic interest is a type Heyer writes so well: perceptive, unflappable, competent, with a sense of humour and an appreciation for level-headedness in others. Sensible people pushed into madcap adventures is something Heyer has a flair for.
The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle: It’s much more dreamlike than I was expecting, in a similar vein to Patricia A. McKillip’s fantasy. I was emotionally invested only in flickers and bursts, but I appreciated the way it plays with, and comments on, fairytales. Quests may not simply be abandoned; prophecies may not be left to rot like unpicked fruit; unicorns may go unrescued for a very long time, but not forever. The happy ending cannot come in the middle of the story.
The Bookstore by Deborah Meyler: Esme, a British scholarship student studying art history at Columbia, discovers she’s pregnant and gets a job at a quirky secondhand bookshop. I would have found some of her choices -- and the book itself -- terribly frustrating, except I really liked the bookshop and Esme’s narration. I liked her quotes and references and her enthusiasm and her observations, especially those about living in New York and about the shop -- this is a story with a vivid sense of place. Esme’s naivety and optimism is both understandable and believable, and I wanted to see her finally, properly, free of her awful boyfriend.
The “Happy Ever After Bookshop” books by Annie Darling:
The Little Bookshop of Lonely Hearts: If I hadn’t already read the second book about the Happy Ever After bookshop and liked it a lot, I probably wouldn’t have bothered reading this. The romantic interest annoyed me -- he’s not a bad match for Posy, but I’d find him infuriating in person and I didn’t want to read about him. Fortunately the book is just from Posy’s POV. I enjoyed the Britishness, and the bits about running a bookshop. I particularly liked Posy’s relationship with her younger teenaged brother, whom she has responsibility for. And I was pleased the romance bookshop stocks appropriate YA and mystery titles.
True Love at the Lonely Hearts Bookshop: I was expecting it to turn into the sort of romance which annoys me. To my delight, it did not! Verity loves her noisy family, her nosy friends, her job in a bookshop and reading romances but she believes she isn’t suited to being in a romantic relationship. She reluctantly agrees to a fake-dating situation to avoid friends trying to set her up. I loved the way this story shows Verity being an introvert, and her obvious love for Pride and Prejudice. And this has all the things I like about fake-dating without too much cringe-worthy deception.
Crazy in Love at the Lonely Hearts Bookshop: I have less in common with Nina than I do with her colleagues: she’s into make-up, tattoos and Wuthering Heights. But it was interesting seeing why she’s embraced both Wuthering Heights and her own particular style so fiercely -- she’s finding her own path, one that differs from what her conservative working class family expected. Some of the resolutions came about a bit too easily. However, I liked getting a different perspective on the bookshop, I enjoyed bits of her romance with Noah, and I share some of Nina’s fascination with the Bronte sisters.
A Winter Kiss on Rochester Mews:  Mattie runs the tearooms attached to the Happy Ever After bookshop. She is delighted about living above the bookshop, but not so impressed about her new flatmate. I’m not a fan of the crazy commercialism of Christmas, but really enjoyed reading about it here -- probably because the story recognises that not everybody loves it. And, given the weather, I was in the mood for something wintry. Other things I liked: the vivid portrayal of the challenges of working “in a customer-facing environment over Christmas”; the details about Mattie’s baking; and the intelligent commentary about romance novels and romantic relationships.
Allegra in Three Parts by Suzanne Daniel: Eleven year old Allegra lives with one grandmother, next door to the other, while her father lives in above the garage. Allegra knows her grandmothers love her, but they are very different. “Sometimes I wish they could just love me less and take what's left over and put it into liking each other a little bit more.” The initial mystery and conflict were slightly stronger than the answers and aftermath. But it’s an interesting portrayal of growing up in Sydney in the 70s, the women’s liberation movement, and of a family dealing with grief. I read it in practically one sitting.
We Rule the Night by Claire Eliza Bartlett (narrated by Chloe  Cannon): Revna’s father is a traitor. Linné’s father is a general. Revna is discovered protecting herself with illegal magic during an air-raid. Linné is discovered after three years fighting at the front disguised as a boy. They’re both sent to a new women’s Night Raiders regiment, where, if they are to survive this war, they have to learn to fly together. This is tense and captivating -- and nuanced. Magic is wondrous but also confronting, the Union is unjust but contains things worth defending, loyalties are not always predictable, difficult people can become valued friends, and not everything is neatly resolved.
The Way Past Winter by Kiran Millwood Hargrave: In the fifth year of winter, Mila and her sisters wake to find their brother has left. Sanna believes Oskar left them willingly, like their father once did, but Mila is convinced that Oskar was taken by last night’s unsettling visitors -- and is determined to rescue him. I didn’t find this as emotional and compelling as Hargrave’s previous books. I don’t know if that’s because this is a simpler narrative or because I didn’t listen to the audio book -- a good narrator adds liveliness and emotion. But Hargrave’s prose is lovely and I liked the fairytale quality this story has.
Grace After Henry by Eithne Shortall: I really enjoyed Love in Row 27, so I borrowed Shortall’s other novel. After her boyfriend dies, Grace keeps seeing him everywhere. Then she meets a man who looks unnervingly like Henry -- a long-lost relative of Henry’s she did not know about. This story is funny and touching. I didn’t expect it to be so compelling, nor make me so invested in Grace’s relationship with Henry. There’s a strong sense of history and of place -- it was interesting to read about contemporary Dublin. There are unexpected and hopeful developments in Grace’s life. But mostly, it’s just very sad.
Famous in a Small Town by Emma Mills: Sophie loves her friends, her high school’s marching band and her small town. She has an idea for how the band could raise money -- enlisting the help of a famous country singer. I liked Sophie’s deep sense of belonging and how much she cares about things. She’s very kind in a way that is realistic and realistically complicated. Her friends are very supportive, but believably so. They all have flaws and make mistakes and have their secrets. I really enjoyed this story about friendship and summer (and it was a good choice after reading something sad).
Can’t Escape Love by Alyssa Cole: I’ve tried a couple of Cole’s novels and they didn’t appeal to me -- I wouldn’t have considered this novella if I hadn't seen a positive review. It’s fun and fandom-y and diverse. Reggie contacts an old internet acquaintance after she discovers his puzzle livestreams are no longer online. I liked how it’s very clear that Reggie’s disability has a significant impact on her daily life, but has nothing to do with her current problems. And, for Gus, being autistic isn’t ever an obstacle to a relationship with Reggie. I would have liked to read more but this still satisfying.
The Orphans of Raspay, a novella in the World of the Five Gods by Lois McMaster Bujold: Penric’s ship is captured by pirates and he is thrown in a hold with a couple of young girls from Raspay. As always, I enjoyed Pen’s interactions with Desdemona. I would have enjoyed the story even more had there been more significant character interactions -- the girls aren’t quite old enough to play a very active role in escape plans but are old enough that, in terms of emotional support, they’re not very demanding. I’d like to see Pen challenged more. But this is still a solid adventure. I’m very glad that Bujold hasn’t finished telling stories about Pen and Des.
Minor Mage by T. Kingfisher (Ursula Vernon): Oliver, a twelve year old minor mage with an armadillo familiar, is sent by his village on a perilous journey to the mountains to bring back rain. There’s some dispute over whether this is a children’s book -- Vernon thought it was, her editor was adamant it wasn’t. It feelslike a children’s book to me, even when Oliver has to deal with ghuls, bandits and murderers. (There have always been children’s books which have been too dark and scary for some kids.) The tone is dryly humorous, the armadillo is a delight and I never doubted that Oliver would succeed.

Hello hello
I am back, people of tumblr, and refreshed and invigorated from my sojourn abroad, during which I:
Visited many museums and many castles
(Huntarian Gallery, Kelvingrove Museum, and The People’s Palace in Glasgow; the National Gallery of Modern Art in Edinburgh; the Tate Liverpool and the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool; the Tates Britain and Modern and V&A in London; and Castles Stirling, Dunstaffnage, and Edinburgh) (if we’re being very honest this is fewer museums than I would have seen if I’d been traveling on my own, but my mom came with and so we compromised based on time, interest, and ability)
Saw TWO DIFFERENT exhibitions on queer art and had SO MANY QUEER HISTORY FEELINGS. Representation fucking matters, folks. ( @havingbeenbreathedout the Queer British Art show was at least 1/3 Bloomsbury and Bloomsbury-associated; I have a feeling the catalog would be of interest if you don’t have plans to be in London before Oct. 1 :D)
Had fiber arts feelings over the contemporary reconstructions of the Unicorn Hunt tapestries (they took 18 weavers 13 years!) and of the needlework of Mary, Queen of Scots
Drove through Glencoe Valley at sunset; felt like I was in a movie
Cried in the special collections library at the University of Glasgow over the papers of Adrian Howells (the ostensible reason I was there); had spinster feelings for a good 36 hours afterwards
Saw The Bed, listened to a bad museum docent lecture on The Bed, learned nothing because I had only just finished writing some 20 pages analyzing The Bed for my dissertation
Stayed with my lovely cousin, whom I hadn’t seen since I was a teenager, his nice but overwhelmingly pessimistic and slightly Ugly American wife and their two cute but screamingly awful children outside of London
Drove two hours with them to the Cotswolds; had a long lunch where the kids ran around the restaurant garden all. afternoon. long. and drank a whole bottle of wine by myself; reaffirmed desire to never have children
Bought something like $250 worth of Liberty of London and wool tweed fabric, not including the stuff I bought online to be sent home while there because I was reminded of it by something in the museum (whoops)
Mostly didn’t want to kill my mother even though she sometimes tries my patience; ate and drank very well because she paid for food; realized I really really do like traveling alone, not just as a consolation when there’s no one to travel with me
Walked a lot; had very sore feet; packed a very small bag (carry-on sized for 12 days) and yet still had clothes I didn’t really need; came home to a happy-to-see-me dog and an apartment nearly cleared of my roommate’s stuff. All in all a wonderful trip!

This Balinese Princess's Wedding Dress Is Blow-Your-Mind Beautiful
When it comes to weddings, there's no denying that the most fashionable of nuptials are the most fun to gawp at. Whether that's an A-lister or a fashion editor, set in a city or on a beach, there are plenty of stylish brides and grooms we've seen over the past few years that we need to tell you about. But before we start giving you examples of these über-chic events, perhaps we should define the rules of what we mean by "fashion wedding."
This week we've all been poring over the pictures of Balinese princess Lindy Rama-Ellis in her frothy tulle creation from Toni Maticevski. She tied the knot with Adam Ellis in Gavorrano, Italy, barefoot, with a simple bun for her up 'do hairstyle and surrounded by her four children and closest family and friends. World-class wedding photographer Lisa Poggi was in tow to capture the most magical pictures.
A fashion wedding tends to be a full-on style extravaganza that often includes several outfit changes (although that's not a prerequisite), a fantastic Pinterest-worthy setting, plus gorgeous guests.
Budding brides, we've selected some of the most stylish of weddings that you'll want to take inspiration from. For those who aren't getting married, behold a load of pictures that are just great to look at. Keeps scrolling for our guide the best fashion weddings ever.
Why it's so fashion: With an icon like Kate Moss getting married, it was bound to be a totally fashionable affair. Not only did she get married to The Kills frontman Jamie Hince (marrying a rock 'n' roll star is so fashion), guests included the likes of Mario Testino, Naomi Campbell and Sadie Frost.
Kate Moss and Jamie Hince with their flower girls.
Mario Testino attending Kate Moss and Jamie Hince's wedding.
Why it's so fashion: For the hipster Knowles sister, this wedding required her to have six (!) outfit changes. After the ceremony in New Orleans, the bride wore a Stéphane Rolland–designed jumpsuit with a fluttering cape. All her guests were also instructed to wear white. Other than the fact she had the world's biggest singer attending—her sister, Beyoncé, former J.Crew CEO Jenna Lyons also attended wearing one of the chicest wedding guest outfits we've ever seen.
Jenna Lyons wearing a statement skirt in and a white skirt to Solange Knowles' wedding.
Beyoncé Knowles and Jay-Z attending Solange's wedding in New Orleans.
Solange in another one of the Rolland-designed jumpsuits.
Why it's so fashion: When Amal and George decided to wed in 2014, they went to their beloved Italy to do the deed. However, the Stella McCartney two-piece on Amal for the registry office ceremony was by far one of the chicest bridal looks we've ever seen.
Why it's so fashion: Before heading to Capri for a full three-day wedding party, Giovanna and her then-fiancé Oscar Englebert got married in a civil ceremony in Stockholm, for which the bride wore a regal Valentino gown. However, it was on Capri where the real fashion show began. For the ceremony, it was Alexander McQueen, plus an Azzedine Alaïa look and another change for a Giambattista Valli outfit in the evening as well. Phew.
In the Alexander McQueen gown.

In Giambattista Valli.
Why it's so fashion: Is there anything more fashion than wearing Chanel on your big day? Thanks to Poppy being a muse for Karl Lagerfeld, the model had the chance to wear this Chanel couture creation when she got married in May 2014 in London. Of course, the bride's sister, supermodel and actress Cara Delevingne, attended as bridesmaid (another fashion point awarded), also dressed in Chanel. Later on that month, the couple had another wedding in Marrakech, for which the bride wore a Peter Dundas–designed gown, with the likes of Alexa Chung on the guest list.
Poppy wearing the Peter Dundas gown in Marrakech.
Why it's so fashion: During a four-day event, the New York–based couple got married earlier in 2017 in Morocco. As per the usual for a fashion wedding, there was an outfit for the actual ceremony and also the evening. Here, Hannah wears her nighttime outfit that was a creation by Elie Saab, but for the ceremony, she went for Vera Wang.
The Vera Wang strapless gown with a dramatic train.
Why it's so fashion: While Whitney kept it simple in terms of outfit changes, the biggest thing about her look in terms of fashion is that she went for such an unusual hemline. Instead of playing it safe and going for something long, she maximised one of her best assets (her legs) and went for a dramatic waterfall hemline gown by Ashi Studio.
Why it's so fashion: The ultimate way to do an elegant wedding is to casually announce you just got married. That's exactly what OP and Johannes Huebl did when they got married in 2014. Olivia bucked the trend of wearing a dress, opting for a Carolina Herrera top and skirt, and finished it off with blue Manolo Blahnik shoes.
A look at Olivia Palermo's wedding outfit from the back.
Why it's so fashion: There's something so cute about the model's dress. Created by upcoming fashion designer Molly Goddard, the frothy tulle made for a seriously pretty (but totally on-trend) wedding dress. The bold shock of turquoise on her feet just gave it that finishing touch.
Why it's so fashion: Other than the fact she's an international model marrying a fellow model, this was the kind of achingly cool wedding that looked like so much fun. The nuptials, which took place in New York last year, were predictably full of other models and notable people from the fashion industry. Designer Alexander Wang even took this video of Hanne strutting her stuff down the aisle as if she was walking a runway—#sofashion.
Why it's so fashion: Allison Williams has been the darling of the fashion world ever since she became a major name, thanks to her part as Marnie in Girls. So it was no surprise that her wedding gown was breathtaking. While she's been spotted wearing Giambattista Valli and Valentino creations on the red carpet, it was this Oscar de la Renta gown that made the cut for her big day in 2015.
Why it's so fashion: For a something blue, Hannah Weiland aka Shrimps (her nickname inspired moniker for her cult, London label) made herself a blue version of the beaded lady bag that has inspired a million rip-off this season. Marrying an heir to the brewing dynasty, it was only right that guests sipped on the black stuff served from a pop-up pub called Arthur's Arms. A hip crowd including family and stylish friends played pétanque and danced the night away in a glittering marquee.
Hannah Weiland's bouquet was made by fashion's go-to florist, Scarlet & Violet.
Why it's so fashion: Shoe designer and uber-stylist, Tabitha Simmons’ wedding was never going to be short of inspiring. Having swapped Britain for NYC, this talented image-maker wore a gown from Dolce & Gabbana’s Alta Mood atelier, having closely collaborated with the duo for over a decade. Guests at the Upper East Side nuptials included a host of fashion heavyweights, such as designer Tory Burch, model Karen Elson, fellow stylist Kate Grand, Lauren Santo Domingo and actress Liv Tyler.
Simmons wore the Alhambra shoes from the bridal range of her eponymous brand, choosing to have the soles embroidered with her name and wedding date as her “something blue”.
Why it's so fashion: London-based digital strategist Rosanna Falconer counts her former boss, Matthew Williamson, as one of her close friends. So it was only natural that she choose to wear one of the designer’s heavily embroidered creations to say ‘I do’ to George Ryan. The fairytale theme continued with a lifesize unicorn that made for perfect Instagram fodder, not forgetting the beautiful setting of the Cotswolds and a sprinkling of photogenic friends.
A closer look at the exquisite embroidery on the new Mrs Ryan's Matthew Williamson gown.
Why it’s so fashion: Interior designer Lucy Barlow enjoyed not one but two fabulous ceremonies - and thus two equally photo-worthy frocks. Roksanda Ilincic’s Margot dress provided the voluminous bell sleeves to make her and Joshua Sear official at Chelsea Town Hall in May 2018.
…and in a palatial villa in Rome just days later, Barlow relived the magic in a tiered beauty of a dress by Johanna Ortiz. ‘When I discovered she’d launched her first bridal collection I nearly died’ wrote Barlow on Instagram, adding: ‘People may say fashion is fickle but when you wear something that makes you feel that good you realise why it’s a gazillion dollar industry!’
Why it's so fashion: The face of Balenciaga, Danish actress and model Emma Leth's bridal look was bound to push boundaries. True to form, she delivered in a sheer, lace dress that revealed lilac underwear and an enormous hat by French designer Jacquemus. Bohemia at its most real.
Why it's so fashion: With over 300,000 followers on Instagram, blogger Jessie Bush's wedding was always going to been to swoon over. Dubbed #amallorcan affair, the bride wore a custom-made, tiered gown by go-to London bridal designer, Charlie Brear.
Bush's bridesmaids complemented her look perfectly in Ghost bridesmaids dresses.
Why it's so fashion: Former fashion PR Gemma was beaming from head to toe when she wed recently in Tuscany. Sheer lace sleeves topped off her dreamy gown by Parisian label Rime Arodaky.
Another angle of that stunning white gown.
Why it's so fashion: If you're dreaming of an haute couture gown look away now - Mrs Schwartzman had three. Yes, three! She married fellow DJ Ross Schwartzman in New York City and called upon Valentino to design three unforgettable gowns, including this full-length dream with a lie overlay.
Another beautiful Valentino and 10 bridesmaids clamouring to catch her bouquet wearing matching String of Heart–print dresses from her fashion line, HVN.
A short, flappy little number to dance the night away in.
To collect her documents at New York's City Hall, Harley donned a chic Chanel suit that she stumbled across in a vintage store in Miami.
Why it's so fashion: TV presenter and fashion plate Laura Jackson collaborated with friend and respected designer, Rejina Pyo, for her memorable, tulle-heavy gown. She also called in pearl-embellished hair slides from Simone Rocha that were hot off the catwalk. That's fashion, folks.
Jackson and fashion photographer husband Jon decamped to the Cornish coast for their celebrations.
Why it's so fashion: Knowing your style is the key to defining your own personal look, so when Stylist magazine's executive fashion director Kitty McGee wore two effortlessly simple but stunning dresses to tie the knot in, we weren't the least bit surprised. Free of any fuss and frills, this Reformation gown provided more than enough pomp for her memorable French ceremony.  Tying the knot? Then check out our round-up of the best bridal shops in London
McGee in a simple midi by french brand Les Heroines to make her minion official in London before celebrations abroad.
