Most of the plushies are Sega Plaza prizes exclusive to Japan. I had some difficulty buying from Mercari, but Ruka helped me get the "& you" mascots! Eventually, I was able to get the other Sega plushies myself through a proxy!

Figures galore! I especially love Mattel's posable action figures. I've been bringing Luca & Alberto with me on trips and taking lots of photos! 📸

Ruka was very gracious to make these winter-themed Luca paintings for me. They've become some of my most cherished possessions! 💓

The Differences Between Classical Literature and Modern Literature

✨Between the past and the present, between hope and doubt, between order and chaos; literature is not just words on paper, but a mirror reflecting the evolution of human thought and its response to time. While classical literature was born in an era that revered system and harmony with nature, modern literature emerged to reflect the confusion of man in the face of the transformations of the contemporary world, where established principles collapse, and ideas fragment in a constant search for meaning.

In classical literature, wisdom and truth were derived from celestial forces, and heroism was embodied in characters who exemplified moral and physical perfection. The writings revolved around achieving personal ideals and harmonizing with the laws of the universe. This was the case in "The Iliad" and "The Odyssey," where tales of honor and glory intertwined with myths that taught humans how to deal with the universe gently, how to reconcile the inner and outer worlds. This type of literature elevated humans to the ideal of beauty, with the hero representing the pinnacle of nobility and perfection. But is this the essence of humanity? Was this the reality we live in?

Here comes modern literature to make a difference. There are no longer perfect heroes, no ready-made solutions, or final answers. In modern literature, humanity is no longer a symbol of pure good or pure evil. Humans are trapped in their internal conflicts, in questions that have no answers, in the destruction of inherited beliefs, and in their relentless search for self-understanding and understanding of the society they inhabit. Modern literature delves into the unknown, strips the surface, and transcends traditional frameworks. It shows us the fragility of existence, the internal pain, the struggle of the self with a world that seems far from perfection.

🌠In this contrast between classical and modern literature, the deep impact each has had on thought becomes apparent. Classical literature taught us that humanity could achieve greatness through rational thought and adherence to fixed principles. But is this greatness what truly defines human essence? Meanwhile, modern literature invites us to seek meaning in confusion, in mistakes, in the chaos we live daily. If perfection failed to provide answers, could meaning lie in acknowledging our flaws?

Meaning does not lie in the sense of perfection, but in our understanding of our deep truths, our internal contradictions. While classical literature sought to rebuild humanity according to fixed standards, modern literature, with its chaotic form and diverse experiences, paints a more realistic picture of humanity: a tormented, lost being, yet always searching for a truth that might not even exist.

Through classical literature, we learned that thought has a collective consciousness, a return to nature, a taste for beauty, a reverence for fixed values. On the other hand, modern literature, despite its ambiguity and occasional confusion, made us face the truth that humans cannot live in a static world that never changes. Change is the eternal law, and contradiction is the reality we live in.

Literature, in its essence, is the art of deconstruction and reconstruction. Classical literature built humans from the inside out, while modern literature, as I see it, seeks to organize the scattered parts within us to reshape reality. Perhaps there are no longer heroes we can emulate, and perhaps there are no fixed standards for good and evil, but modern literature leaves us the freedom to rediscover ourselves in this ever-changing world.

In the end, can we say that modern literature is a continuation of classical literature? Perhaps. But it is certainly not a mere imitation. Modern literature is an expansion of horizons; it does not bet on a final answer but encourages continuous search and questioning of meaning.

In terms of my OCS, I have 2 for the MW universe (reboot), 2 for the BO universe (mainly CW though because of ✨Adler✨ ) and 2 for some other video games. But you know what? making the truly arbitrary choice of my New One bright, bright beneath the gate and making the somewhat pedestrian choice of albion london lights from the sunless skies soundtrack. this is partly because it is slightly less obvious than just straight-up using the transformation music from parsifal, perfect for when you are going to a place where time becomes space (i do not know what wagner meant by this.), even though that is the direction that that one is sailing in. also. however. both of the sunless games (and fallen london more generally) do have such wonderfully evocative soundtracks. which are also very easily transferrable onto stuff happening to characters in amc's the terror (season one).

honestly i never expected Any of the stuff that i have been writing for the terror to get any attention. partly because i arrived to the terror after having been in a particularly bad fandom scene (and that isn't even the other particularly bad fandom scene i was in that imploded dramatically in 2023!) but also. like. it is strange to start writing stuff in a new fandom! i didn't think that it hurts to pray to god would go anywhere, however, in part because i started writing it thinking "this isn't very good, is it? oh well." and look at where we are now.

🍎 - what's something you learned while researching for a fic?

other than the existence and life of lydia maria child (which i have discussed vaguely) and the stuff about victorian childrearing, i have a large collection of unexplored google searches about the musicology and historical context of wagner's parsifal sitting on my firefox at the moment. i actually also ended up recycling some research that i did for an essay during my master's for this, in spite of the fact that it will appear Never in the thing that i am writing. but hey, it informs the writing.

very much did not used to be my thing and in fairness it is not my thing now outside of one (1) VERY specific application. part of that is possibly symptomatic of the sorts of characters and interactions that i am usually drawn to, and the fact that their dynamics are not ones in which a child would do well. (and in the example there nobody is left alive to have a child.) also. frankly. james and kate were originally basically just character devices/plot devices before i realised "actually this could be very fun in its own right to contemplate." as i said when i was originally throwing the idea of them around (and before i had the more recent idea for rebecca to exist), early/mid 19th century family structure looks weird to us in the 21st century as it is. add in hodgson being from a very rich family and it is probably completely alien. (and then you find that you are very interested in the woman who wrote the childrearing manual that you read to give yourself an idea of what sorts of ideas they might be taking on board and...) as i said recently. kate has also somewhat escaped into bright, bright beneath the gate. this is admittedly mostly just for me and nobody else since she is the character that i have been playing sunless sea as. but no less if any of the three of the lieutenants' kids as they exist in my brain was to time travel in that wise it would probably be her.

So I have a question!

What could possibly, in a natal chart, indicate someone who attracts extreme obsession, more specifically from former friends and cruel-intended people?

I do have Mars in 8th, Pluto in 11th, Lilith in 1st (and idk, Scorpio Venus, Mars Square Pluto and others but I don't really see which could be that "prone" to it). However I would like to know - are these placements a possible indicator? If so, how does that play out? Because I have already seen and studied about it, but I would like to know what these placements bring to the native that makes them such an object of obsession.

I understand it's not all astrology and life happens, independently of astrological placements. But I ask because there is, indeed, a certain pattern.

I also have Neptune in the 1st house, which usually is associated with projection, mirroring and perhaps somewhat of a distorted perception, leading others to see what they feel like and desire to see.

I ask this VERY specifically. I don't want to lead anyone to believe it's a destiny these placements have.

A backstory: I have had two people who became actually pathologically (disturbingly, frankly) obsessed. It's unsettling, really.

I think you've answered your own question already hehe

It can be many things and usually you have to have a few aspects in a chart that point to the same thing for it to really manifest.

It can be Scorpio placements, it can be prominent Pluto (violation of boundaries), sometimes Neptune (haziness and distortion) and Uranus (unpredictability) can produce weird situations as well. So any tight aspects to these planets, especially squares and oppositions cause they produce tension.

It can even be due to transits from these 3 planets - because they are slow-moving, it can signify a period in one's life that can bring nasty situations with people.

I'd also look what is the descendant ruler doing in a chart - since it signifies people you come in contact with, as well as 11th house ruler. And Moon since it symbolizes people in general, the collective. So any of these in squares, oppositions or in aspects with malefics can cause people to act unfairly and abrasive towards the person. Especially oppositions can bring the kind of push-pull dynamic of love-hate/obsession etc.

12th house placements can bring that as well, people doing things behind your back, spying on you, obsessing over you etc.
