More JJK Fragrance HCs
~Kinda a continuation of this post~
Maki (and Mai):
They share the same base, a fresh evergreen scent that was pervasive around the Zenin clan mountains. Maki is more chypre; a commanding, energized scent that leans decidedly unisex. Mai is more floral and feminine, with sultry undertones and a softer finish.
Maki's Notes: violet, juniper, vetiver
Mai's Notes: jasmine, lavender, sage, patchouli
Shared notes: cedar, cypress, white musk, nutmeg, bamboo, mountain iris

Inumaki:
Very, very strong/distinct scent, almost unappealing. Citrus forward in an artificial soda pop flavoring kind of way. Underneath, providing frankly bizarre complexity, there's a vintage medley of gentle herbaceous scents.
Notes: Soft sunny smells from grandmas herb garden (lemongrass, thyme, rosemary, mint). Next to it the linens drying on the clothesline (soapy old people smell included). Sparkly carbonation from club soda, refreshing cucumber, and bright lime (nice version). Mountain Dew (honest version). Pool chlorine
For a flattering designer spin on this One Summer 2012 & One Summer 2015 by Calvin Klein
Yuta:
Smells clean and masculine with a slight nod to boyishness. Chic but completely unremarkable. He's definingly the type to buy with the trends but also never really expand into anything interesting. After he did his semester abroad in Africa he has the faintest whiff of something warm and exotic(compared to his previous standard) but its unplaceable.
Accords: cool aquatic, department store man smell (only slightly derogatory), fresh bright ephemeral scents like the breeze or sunshine, fabrics and detergent, a hint of sweet/smokey oud.
Note are from SeaZone by AVON (which sounds like a genuinely beautiful fragrance, so don't let it's simplicity be misleading)
Nobara:
Rose heavy with femininizing white florals and sweet/tart fruit, but there's an uncanny edge to it. Frequently layers perfume samples she gets from her shopping trips, which can make her overall scent toe chypre from time to time. Her favorite brands would be Confessions of a Rebel and Juliet has a Gun.
Notes: vanilla, green chypre top and base, sun-ripe red fruits, white florals, rose, metallic notes, pink peppercorn

Yuji:
(Lovingly) he smells exactly like a teenage boy would smell. His deodorant and bodywash/shampoo save him a little bit, though. In a obviously masculine way he smells bright and citrusy with a childish sweetness to it.
United Dreams One Summer by Benetton and Citrus Circus by Snif are the nicer versions of what is realistically probably (axe body spray) some convenience store products.
#just like last time my commentary is purely fictious and not a reflection/endorsement of any real perfumes mentioned here#jjk#jujutsu kaisen#jjk hcs#maki zenin#mai zenin#inumaki toge#yuta okkotsu#nobara kugisaki#yuji itadori#i ended up having a pretty specific vision for these ones#which is ironic because i cannot visualize? smells for shit#like the thing where you cant picture something in your minds eye#i have that for olfactory stuff#i had to go aggressively sniffing in my seasoning cabinet for this#anyway sorry some of these don't reference irl fragrances ig#nobara especially was somebody I really wanted to do justice and there just isnt a fragrance like that#to my knowledge at least id love to be wrong#Yuta's mysterious new smell is shea butter btw#miguel told him his skin was ashy as hell and gave him a little container to remedy it#hes been using it for skincare ever since#inumkais was born out of the intersection of 2 personal hcs i have for him so that's why its kinda out of left field#hes a gamer boy and he lives with his grandparents what can i say#don't ask me where the pool chlorine came from idk#please lmk if you want me to do more of these#im thinking of nanami next#jjk headcanons#jujutsu kaisen hcs

I SEEN YOUR VYLAD MUSIC/SOMG LIST AND I REQUIRE YOUR GENIUS!! What would… Dante listen to… or.. Zenix..
𝐌𝐘𝐒 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐒' 𝐌𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐂 𝐓𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐄 𝐇𝐂'𝐒
𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆: dante & zenix
𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄: hey so i actually came up with a list for both hehe! i had a lot of fun coming up with playlists for them so i went a little overboard with the examples but here they are!
𝐃𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐄
for dante, i feel like he’d so be into a mix of older rap and club/party music, and that it's usually his go to. i think he shamelessly would also listen to some of that good old emo music (he heard gene listening to it when he was younger so he thinks it’s cool and has a lot of nostalgia listening to it) but it’s not his main thing. gene would listen to tejano music as well, but we all know dante is the no sabo kid of the family ahahhaa so he has a few he likes but it’s not his main genre he listens to.
here’s some examples of songs in his playlist:
intergalactic by beastie boys
so fresh, so clean by outkast
ms.jackson by outkast
keep their heads ringin’ by dr. dre
insane in the brain by cypress hill
clint eastwood by gorillaz
feel good by gorillaz
i know what you want by busta rhymes & mariah carey
the way i are by timbaland
get low by lil jon & the east side boyz
wobble by v.i.c.
london bridge by fergie (yes he would love fergie)
cómo te voy a olvidar by los ángeles azules
amor prohibido by selena
si una vez by selena
side note: i saw @milkeywaylady on tiktok hc that travis loves kpop, and i adore that headcanon, so i think dante would listen to kpop artists with travis!
𝐙𝐄𝐍𝐈𝐗
zenix would be into rap and rock as well, but definitely more into screamo and like, “hardcore”(by his definition)(nerd) songs? lol, he still can appreciate calmer music too, but he definitely prefers music that is constantly attacking his eardrums. it's giving what i listened to as an angry teenager(sometimes now), and honestly? yeah, as he should (please get therapy, zenix).
some examples of songs in his playlist:
break stuff by limp bizkit
rollin’ (air raid vehicle) by limp bizkit
custer by slipknot
chop suey! by system of a down
my own summer (shove it) by deftones
bored by deftones
a match into water by pierce the veil
bulls in the bronx by pierce the veil
sunshine by $uicide boy$
magazine by $uicide boy$
venom by ghostmane
deira city centre by night lovell
(i have to stop now, but you guys get the vision, right?)

(8/54) “There’s only one way for love to begin in a traditional society. With the eyes. At the dinner table Mitra disagreed with everything I said. If I said ‘red,’ she said ‘green.’ If I said ‘spice,’ she said ‘sweet.’ But there was something between us. I could see it in the eyes. It was like glancing at a beautiful mountain from afar. The mountain hasn’t been experienced yet. Its cliffs have not been climbed. Its flowers have not been picked. But you are drawn to its beauty, even at a distance. On her fifteenth birthday I got her flowers. It was winter. There weren’t many flowers during winter. So I went to an Armenian flower shop and got fifteen white carnations, with one red in the center. I was shy with my words, so I wrote her a long letter. I told her the story of the female knight Gordafarid, one of the bravest champions in all of Shahnameh. Gordafarid was a master of archery. No bird could escape her arrows. And she was beautiful: her face glowed like the moon. Her waist was cypress-shaped. Her hair was worthy of a crown. I told Mitra: ‘She’s just like you. Together we can do great things for Iran!’ Mitra hid the letter from her father. One night over dinner I told him about my plans to become king. I told him that I would use my voice, and speak about 𝘋𝘢𝘢𝘥. Justice. He said: ‘This boy is delusional! He’s living in a thousand-year-old book!’ He told me that Iran was a constitutional monarchy. And unless I planned to lead a coup, the highest I could rise was Prime Minister. He said that Iranians were too worried about survival to care about ideals. So if I wanted to be Prime Minister, I’d need to put away childish ideas and learn about the real world. A few weeks later I joined a club of students at my school who met each week to discuss politics. It was the youth chapter of a new party called the Pan-Iranist Party. The leader of the club was a medical student from the University of Tehran. His name was Dr. Mohammadreza Ameli Tehrani. But everyone called him by his nickname: The Siren.”

my sapphic tbr🤍 pt. 1
1. Ink Vine, Elizabeth Broadbent:
Stay the hell out of the swamp — the backwater town of Lower Congaree recites it like an eleventh commandment. But when exotic dancer Emmy Joiner sneaks under the dark tree-canopy behind her family trailer, she meets mysterious, tattooed Zara, the first girl she dares to kiss.
But the small-town South hates a woman who dares to dance instead of plucking chickens for minimum wage, and as Emmy’s life falls apart, her relationship with Zara grows more tangled and bizarre. Zara’s offering something beautiful. But while Emmy’s slowly strangling, its price may be more than she’s willing to pay.
Shifting between the green-bright cypress cathedral and the dreamland of a dance club, Broadbent’s unforgettably-voiced debut confronts the brutal realities of poverty in the South, with a sapphic tale both sultry and sinister, gritty and gothic.”
2. My Darling Dreadful Thing, Johanna Van Veen
“Roos Beckman has a spirit companion only she can see. Ruth―strange, corpse-like, and dead for centuries―is the light of Roos' life. That is, until the wealthy young widow Agnes Knoop visits one of Roos' backroom seances, and the two strike up a connection.
Soon, Roos is whisked away to the crumbling estate Agnes inherited upon the death of her husband, where an ill woman haunts the halls, strange smells drift through the air at night, and mysterious stone statues reside in the family chapel. Something dreadful festers in the manor, but still, the attraction between Roos and Agnes is undeniable.
Then, someone is murdered.
Poor, alone, and with a history of 'hysterics', Roos is the obvious culprit. With her sanity and innocence in question, she'll have to prove who―or what―is at fault or lose everything she holds dear.”
3. House of Hunger, Alexis Henderson
“A young woman is drawn into the upper echelons of a society where blood is power in this dark and enthralling Gothic novel from the author of The Year of the Witching.
Marion Shaw has been raised in the slums, where want and deprivation are all she know. Despite longing to leave the city and its miseries, she has no real hope of escape until the day she spots a peculiar listing in the newspaper seeking a bloodmaid.
Though she knows little about the far north—where wealthy nobles live in luxury and drink the blood of those in their service—Marion applies to the position. In a matter of days, she finds herself the newest bloodmaid at the notorious House of Hunger. There, Marion is swept into a world of dark debauchery. At the center of it all is Countess Lisavet.
The countess, who presides over this hedonistic court, is loved and feared in equal measure. She takes a special interest in Marion. Lisavet is magnetic, and Marion is eager to please her new mistress. But when she discovers that the ancient walls of the House of Hunger hide even older secrets, Marion is thrust into a vicious game of cat and mouse. She’ll need to learn the rules of her new home—and fast—or its halls will soon become her grave.”
4. Our Hideous Progeny, C.E. McGill
“Mary is the great-niece of Victor Frankenstein. She knows her great uncle disappeared under mysterious circumstances in the Arctic, but she doesn’t know why or how. . . .
The 1850s are a time of discovery, and London is ablaze with the latest scientific theories and debates, especially when a spectacular new exhibition of dinosaur sculptures opens at the Crystal Palace. Mary is keen to make her name in this world of science alongside her geologist husband, Henry—but despite her sharp mind and sharper tongue, without wealth and connections their options are limited.
When Mary discovers some old family papers that allude to the shocking truth behind her great-uncle’s past, she thinks she may have found the key to securing her and Henry’s professional and financial future. Their quest takes them to the wilds of Scotland; to Henry’s intriguing but reclusive sister, Maisie; and to a deadly chase with a rival who is out to steal their secret.”

A little something for BaxterMCWeek as hosted by @minthe-drawings
Happy Birthday, Bax darling!
First Meeting
It was a beautiful night -- the air warm with the coastal breeze providing both relief from the day’s heat as well as the fresh scent of sea salt mixed with grass clippings from the golf course. Or it should have been a beautiful night, if it weren’t so dull. While Baxter Ward loved dancing, loved competition, he hated these so-called “parties” that weren’t parties at all. Or perhaps to be more accurate, they were his parents’ type of party, not his. Stuffy and dull. Not like … his attention wandered across the newly mowed lawn toward the sound of music. It was coming from a large patio illuminated by fairy lights and the sight of several couples clustered on a dance floor. Now that was a party, a party he wasn’t allowed to attend. Not because he wasn’t invited. This was the Sunset Bird branch of The Cypress Country Club, the same club his parents belonged to back home. No, he wasn’t allowed to go because he and his fellow contestants were supposed to be resting.
But as the minutes dragged on with nothing but dull adult talk, he no longer could resist the lure of the music across the way. Baxter leaned toward his dance partner and, sometimes, partner in crime. “Cover for me? I’ll be right back.” She agreed as he knew she would. Afterall, he had covered for her more times than he could count when she inevitably found someone interesting with whom to disappear for a few minutes.
Then he was off, slipping around the edge of their group and into the shadowy in-betweens of the club grounds. Then he was there, amongst the unfamiliar crowd. Something about it reminded him of stories of Faerie Revels -- perhaps because of the forbidden nature of his excursion. Maybe he should have stuffed rowan berries into his pockets or at least turned his socks inside out. No, those thoughts were ridiculous -- as his parents had warned him time and time again. He was way too old to think such nonsense. He would come, enjoy one dance and be back at his own stuffy adult-style party before his coach knew he was missing.
And then … as if emerging out of the ether … you were there.
You were hesitating at the edge of the dance floor and Baxter was struck with how you stood out with your own developed sense of style beyond that of your peers. He made his way through the crowd, hoping that he wouldn’t be too late, that someone else wouldn’t snatch up this gem. Then he was there behind you. His heart raced and Baxter had to collect himself. He had to be the perfect gentleman his parents had groomed him to be. Baxter took a deep breath, then tapped you on the shoulder. “Are you planning on dancing?” He gave a soft amused laugh at your charming reply. “We should dance, then. It’s perfect timing, a new song is just about to start.” He offered his hand in a genteel fashion for you to take, then escorted you onto the dance floor.
And then words weren’t necessary.
Baxter took the lead, confidently guiding you into position and then into the dance. Your skill didn’t matter. The older boy had enough years of experience for the both of you to smooth over any missteps. Perfection wasn’t required, not tonight. That would be saved for the competition tomorrow. Tonight he simply wanted to enjoy his favorite hobby away from the critiquing eyes of his coach, parents, and judges. He wanted to be free. It was … wonderful, magical dancing there under the twinkling lights with you fitting so perfectly into his arms. He couldn’t help wondering if perhaps you were a fae creature afterall. It was all so … enchanting …
And then all-too-soon the song ended. His heart plummeted at the realization that these precious stolen moments had drawn to a close. Against every inclination to stay, Baxter stepped back, away from his delightful but temporary partner. He maintained a bright smile even at the sight of obvious disappointment upon your lovely features. “Thank you for dancing with me.” But no. That was too perfunctory and common a note with which to leave such a charming partner. He wished them to remember him as much as he was sure he would remember them for a long time to come. “You have nice legs,” he added with a smirk and a wink before slipping away into the crowd, forcing himself away from the first pure moment of happiness he had found in a very long time.

I made an OC and eleven whole people (including me) wanted to know more about her, so here is a little intro. Thank you and I hope you can grow to love her too :)
Ramona stood at the edge of the crowd, wide brown eyes taking in everything around her. She held her hands in front of her, pulling and twisting them in shaky, anxious motions. She could feel her heart pounding in her chest, and she wasn’t sure if it was from excitement or panic.
It wasn’t that she was nervous, not exactly. She’d been to the country club plenty of times before with her moms, and this wasn’t her first formal event either. She loved dressing up, so the fluffy dress she wore, all colors and rainbows and sparkles, and the heels, as high as Mom would let her get away with at 13, were adding confidence, not taking it away. Her brown hair that she normally wore loose and free with its wild waves was tied back in an elegant style, which only contributed to her feeling of poise. It was more the anticipation that was setting her on edge.
There was a feeling of possibility in the air. She was changing, growing up, and she was standing alone in a sea of people, waiting for someone to notice her. The waiting, and the yearning that came with it, was what was making her wring her hands and bounce lightly on the balls of her feet.
“Excuse me,” a voice said off to her side, pulling her out of her thoughts. “Are you looking for a dance partner?”
She glanced over to the source of the question, and there he was. A boy who towered over her, but looked to be about her age, if not a little older. He wore a well-fitted grey suit, and black hair swooped artfully over his warm brown eyes.
There were several things she wanted to say in response, and truthfully, a few noises that almost came out – this boy was beautiful. But, as it often happened with her, everything she meant to express got caught in her throat, an innate sort of fear choking them down. So instead, she nodded.
The boy gave her a lazy smile and held his hand out. A wordless invitation. She could work with that.
Ramona rose a shaky hand to place in his waiting one. She felt a squeeze, and he gently led her onto the dancefloor.
She wasn't a dancer, but she'd had a lesson or two at the Cypress over the years so she managed to hold her own well enough. But she quickly learned that it didn't matter if she'd been a professional or if she'd only just learned to walk: the boy took the lead, and with a firm hand on the small of her back and the other still grasping her own, he was in control of both of their movements.
He didn't speak as he took them across the space, and so of course she didn't either. She did, however, sneak little glances up at him, wanting to etch his face into her memory so she could keep this moment for as long as possible. When one of those glances caught him looking back at her, she felt her cheeks get hot, and she felt the chuckle rise up in his chest before it came out of his mouth.
"My apologies," he said after a moment, when she felt so flushed that she might as well have been burning. "It wasn't my intention to embarrass you, I'm sorry if that's what I've done."
She braved a glance upward again, and saw that he was smiling more easily now, wide enough that his teeth showed and she saw the dimples in his cheeks. It seemed that despite his apology, he was enjoying himself.
"It's fine," Ramona managed to squeak out. And then, as an afterthought, "Don't let it happen again."
There was that smile again -- it went to his eyes, lighting them up, and she could have sworn then and there, in her infinite 13-year-old wisdom, that he was the prettiest boy she'd ever meet in her entire life.
Far too soon, the song was over, and the boy stepped back. He offered a small bow, another lovely grin, then said, "Thank you for the dance. You have nice legs."
Before she could respond, he'd slipped back into the crowd. She was alone again. But this time, instead of anxiously awaiting what the night could turn into, she had this strange, incredible experience to reflect on.
"What the fuck was that?" she muttered to herself.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Three years later, Ramona was asking herself a similar question, but unfortunately it didn't come from that same place of wonder. Instead, it came from a place of heartache.
Her first boyfriend had broken up with her, and she was lying on her bed crying. Cove sat on his knees on the floor, elbows propped up next to her and trying to think of ways to console his best friend.
"Please don't cry," he said earnestly, reaching out a hand to pat her shoulder. "He's not worth it."
"I know he's not," she answered quickly, "but I'm still sad."
Cove didn't know what to say in this situation, but for her, his presence was enough. She tried to soak up his warmth to blot out the darkness crowding her thoughts -- a notion she realized even then was ridiculously melodramatic, but it felt good to lean into that at the moment.
She ran her fingers along her bedspread, tracing over the bright pattern. Her eyes skated around her room, full of colors and packed with trinkets -- an explosion of rainbows and cuteness and sunshine. With a room like that, she always thought, she could scare away the real darkness.
There was a knock at the door, and before she could answer, Liz stuck her head in. Before she could get out whatever snarky remark she had planned, she saw the state of her little sister, and her expression softened.
"What's up?" she asked, looking away from Ramona and to Cove, who quickly explained the situation.
"Oh, baby sister," Liz sighed, going to sit beside her on the bed. She began stroking her hair, then asked, "What's going to help you here?"
Ramona considered for a moment, then said, "Be mean. But not too mean. Like mean with a dash of optimism for the future of my love life."
Liz pondered the request for a moment, then smiled.
"You know who would never do this?" she said. "Legs."
Cove sighed, and Ramona did too, but for a different reason. Where Cove was tired of hearing about this mythical boy his best friend had met years ago, Ramona was hit by the truth of it -- at this point, the boy she'd met at the country club, nicknamed "Legs" because of his strange compliment and because she'd never caught his name, was more of a legend than an actual person. A built-up magical person who could do no wrong, who had no flaws and could come to her rescue in any situation. Her knight in shining armor, based on a person she'd met so briefly but was so taken by that she couldn't shut up about him for weeks, which was apparently the amount of time it took to turn someone into a folk tale.
"You're right," she told her sister. "This never would have happened on Legs' watch."
"Legs would break this guy's legs," Liz offered.
"Legs would break this guy's legs and then beat him up with them," Ramona agreed.
"You know what he would say then?" Cove asked suddenly. When Ramona turned to look at him, he smiled and said, "He'd say 'legs go.'"
She smiled at the pun, her first smile since the breakup. In thanks, she reached over to flick Cove's nose.
"You're getting it, kid."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
By the time Ramona had turned 18, not much had changed. She'd graduated high school, so that was something -- her life was about to change in a major way. But for now, as she stood on Cove's porch, waiting to meet the new neighbor that, according to town gossip, was moving in that day, things were much the same.
She still wore as many colors as possible, and she still worked her hands and fingers desperately when she felt anxious, which was still often. She'd filled out more over the years, large breasts and wide hips coming to join her already thick thighs and plump stomach. Where she'd grown outward though, she hadn't grown upward. Standing next to Cove, he easily dwarfed her.
They'd been guessing who the new neighbor would be -- he brought up that it might be another older couple, and she countered that it could be another single father and his child. He tweaked her idea, saying that maybe a child would move in alone with some tragic backstory. To that, she suggested that Sunset Bird might be getting it's very own brothel -- not because the idea made sense with the logic they'd been using, but just for fun.
As Cove was getting out his next idea, something about a band of mermaids who would slither down to the beach every morning to get to the ocean, a cab pulled up, and their question was answered.
It wasn't a mermaid or a madam or anything else they'd suggested. It was a boy with black and white hair, wearing black and white clothes who picked a black suitcase out of the trunk. They watched as he leaned down to speak to the driver, sliding him a tip, and then the new neighbor glanced their way and smiled.
Something about that smile pulled at Ramona, some little tickle in her brain that told her that it was important. She didn't know what to make of it at first. Watching as he walked smoothly to set his suitcase down on the sidewalk, the muscles of his legs visible under his very tight jeans, she thought that honestly she just might be, as Cove so often teased her about, horny.
But when he finally sauntered over to them and his brown eyes met her own, she was struck with the realization.
It was Legs in the flesh.
Or, as she learned, it was Baxter in the flesh. After five years, she had a name to put to the legend. It was a bit unsettling, honestly, and while she normally would have had a difficult time speaking to a stranger, this made it all the more difficult.
Things only got harder when Baxter looked at her, studying her face. She blushed immediately under his stare, then he pointed at her and said, "We've met before."
"We have," she agreed, astonishment taking over the nervousness.
He kept looking at her, his mind obviously working, and this time she managed to do what she couldn't at 13: she held his gaze.
"The Cypress," he said softly. "Five years ago. The girl that sparkled."
Her mouth fell open, not so much a full-on jaw drop, but enough for Baxter to notice. He smiled again, eyes dropping briefly to her lips.
"Wait, this is Legs?!"
Whatever was happening between Ramona and Baxter stopped, at least for the moment, as they both turned to look at Cove after his outburst.
"What was that?" Baxter asked, while Ramona let out a similar but somehow very different "What was that?!"
"Oh, I just ... I was just ..." Cove sputtered. He was trying to come up with something, but it just wasn't working. He looked from Baxter, who looked sympathetic but pleased, to Ramona, who looked like she wanted to crawl in a hole and die.
After what felt like several excruciating minutes, she remembered something -- a tray of cookies she's baked for the new neighbor. She'd set them on a little table the Holdens kept on the porch, and grabbed them and presented them to Baxter.
"I made these," she said, eyes on the baked goods and not on the smirking boy in front of her. "To welcome you to the neighborhood."
He let out a little laugh, and his smirk, which had looked a little diabolical, turned warmer.
"Thank you," he said kindly. "I will enjoy these, just as I'm sure I will enjoy this summer, very much."
Looking back on it, that was the moment she knew for sure that she was a goner. That he could have proposed anything, asked anything of her and she would have willingly given it to him. That she'd do anything and everything in her power for those sweet words and sly smiles.
After a few more pleasantries, and some flirty banter on Baxter's part that sent both Ramona and Cove reeling, the young man formerly known as Legs took his leave. They watched him as he walked down the sidewalk, took his suitcase and then retreated inside his house. When he was safely inside, the two old friends immediately looked at each other.
"What the fuck was that?" she asked him.

“Marls come on! I just got off from the radio station. And I really wanna go out.” Normal young people do those sort of things unlike this town seems to think. Sometimes Brooke feels Cypress Falls is stuck in a time warp. They’re all about old school values, innocent little cherubs for daughters to be raised sheltered and cloistered in a nunnery. Or on farms. Just ask Marley Jane here who obviously should be as hype as she is to go out and hit the actual downtown area. “Because my whole new job at 57.9 KROQ is as boring as you think it is.”
She smiled, tipping her head to the side to emphasize her impatience. It’s an easy thing to do. Sure she just has to be an assistant there. Make sure tracks are labeled right, set up for the weird night shift and sometimes actually get to sit in the chair with a rad pair of headphones. The rest of it? Is secretarial duty and for a dude who is friends with her brother. “I’m sorry but we totally need to check out that night club that just opened. The first real piece of wow in this town in forever. Are you in?”

MMX Code: Crimpphire World Building Part 2 - Abel City
I'll finally be able to talk about the other city that was the start of the main focus, but it waned after it was nuked by Sigma. Abel City. If you wanna see the one on Mega City, you can see it here
NEW CHAPTER ON AO3
Now I was thinking it could be Arcadia, since that took place in the Archie Comics, but I have been planning since 2019 for it to be Abel City, since that was implemented in the Day of Sigma OVA. And that’s going to be included in the AU, so checks out~.
Without further ado- let’s get on with what Abel City would be like for the AU~.
First, we look at the “Mysterious Gloree” Woods Preservation Center!! There are places in the country of Glockthain that preserve many woods in 21XX, and Abel city is one of them. Unfortunately, it gets damaged in the missile attack Sigma launched onto the city
Then we have The Answer Bar and Club!! It’s a place Zero liked to go with his unit after a good job well done. He hardly ever saw the point in going to a bar, but he liked having fun. He found more of a reason to go when X started acing his ranks and going up, and being at Rank B by the time Day of Sigma Arc rolled around
Shushiko restaurant is next, and of course of the name, it’s a sushi restaurant~. It’s a conveyor belt restaurant too~. X and Zero like going there every once in a while, again before the missile attack hit Abel City
And then we have Arthur Cain Park. A park dedicated to our loveable Dr Cain. And yes, his first name is Arthur in this AU, which I felt fit~. Maybe I can make a separate headcanon to explain my thought process about it, if you guys would like~
And if we can direct your attention to another place called “Pockets of Time Antiques”. A store Xev went to with Dr Cain before he became a hunter. Since X was very interested in old things from the past, Cain decided to indulge him more into that, and music boxes caught his interest more than anything else in the world. They still made them in his time, but they weren’t made as much as they were back in the 19th and 20th centuries. The 21st still had music boxes, but they aren’t made with much care as they were back in those days.
Going into Maverick Hunter territory, Abel City Maverick Hunter HQ and its Base Landing Pad were quite a building. Of course, you’ve seen it in the OVA, it’s towering high in over 30 stories and sporting the Maverick Hunter logo up at the top. And it has a flat top as well for helicopters and Hunters that fly, like Storm Eagle to land onto. Of course, they have to be authorized to land on HQ but they are allowed to land as such with that in mind
And then there are the three schools located around Abel City. The Elementary School of Trinity, holding Grades k-6, Eagle Mountain Junior High School, housing grades 7-9, and Frozen Promise High School, housing grades 10-12. Not to mention there’s a community college and university combo building called Holy Cypress.
Now to address if there’s a holding facility with the HQ. Which there is, except it’s a death row facility called Nightmare Max Security Penitentiary. It’s something taking place where termination of Mavericks were the only option at the time before Abel City was nuked with missiles. Later on in the story, it’s more considered to give Mavericks another chance other than termination thanks to, of course, X.
Lastly, we have the Gentle Oak Memorial Park. There, they held many fallen bystanders and Hunters in very gruesome Maverick attacks, and there is a program that helps pay respects to those who’ve fallen. Idk what they would be called but I’m sure there would be at least a significant name for their efforts to be remembered.
And that should be it for Abel City~! I’ll hopefully post more world building as I post the fic series~.

Tales From The Night Garden: Lemon Balm
February prompt dump
I've been answering these about my artist portfolio project / novel I'm co-authoring with my best friend since the beginning of the year on socials. I was on a hiatus from tumblr during, so here's a dump of February's answers, beneath a Read More because this is going to be long.
The Prompt List:
(Skipped Feb. 1)
2. groundhog day: what day would your MC want to relive?
Acanthus would probably want to relive the day they became captain of a pirate ship. Cypress would probably want to relive the pack birthday at the witches' monastery.
3. Supportive community in your story
Esmeralda's bar, The Spirits Three.
4: Rosa Parks Day: Who would your MC sit next to on the bus?
(Co-Author answered, but isn't on tumblr) I don't think Cypress would ride the bus, preferring to walk or take a taxi. Acanthus would probably sit next to anyone, so long as he wasn't starving, but would prefer to fly.
5: GIF of physical affection in the story
6: Do your characters get in trouble when they get together?
HAHAHAHA Do they ever! Acanthus attracts trouble completely on accident just because of who they are, and Cypress kind of can't help it. Trouble is both of their middle names xD
7: free Friday, or queer joy in the story
There's a moment in a lull where Acanthus decides to sew Cypress a hoodie. Cypress wears it until it frays apart at the sleeves.
Feb 8: snippet -- "Love"
Cypress' POV "Stop it. I won't have you self-destructing while I'm taking care of you."
When I was satisfied that their hair was well and truly soaked, I grabbed my shampoo, and started scrubbing their hair. I felt different emotions float over to me. Love, appreciation, relief. I blinked at Acanthus, and sighed. "I keep coming back, because I need you, too. I need you to think of yourself sometimes, Acanthus. Please."
9: found family.
The pack is a found family; they would go to the ends of the earth to protect each other, even if they tend to sometimes not see eye to eye.
10: Pitch your story as a romantic/friendship comedy
Cypress Borne gets bit by a dog, buys a church, makes a friend who just happens to be a centuries-old vampire, and .... accidentally starts a war? Acanthus Sylene has given up on life and is rotting in a coffin, waiting for the end to claim them when a strange werewolf straight up crashes their pity-party. They don't know what happened, either, but they're on this rollercoaster together. Welcome to the shitshow, dear Readers.
11: Siblings in the story
I don't think any of our characters actually have siblings, now that I think about it. They're a rag-tag team of found-family disasters and, if they do have siblings, they don't talk about them. Conan's the only one who mentions a sister, who died in a fire.
12: Share a GIF, audio, or description of the MC making friends.
Acanthus: They don't, unless forced.
Cypress: Eager, but reserved about it.
Feb 13: Character's dream date:
I think Cypress is happy with just spending time with Acanthus, it doesn't really matter to them what they do.
Acanthus loves the thrill of spending the night dancing, whether that be in the club or beneath the stars. After that, they'd go cause some harmless mischief -- covering everything in Avery's house with tinfoil, for example-- and sneak out as the dawn creeps into the sky. They'd collapse together at the end of the night, laughing and bantering, and fall asleep in each others' arms.
14: free Friday!
Here's a song that is absolutely Cypress and Acanthus. (We have a Playlist that's got 221 songs on it, send help)
youtube
15: who is most likely to write a love letter?
Acanthus, hands down.
16: what is the longest friendship your MC has had?
For Cypress, probably Junior, even though they wind up losing that friendship in book 1.
For Acanthus, originally I was thinking Azalea, but looking at timelines, it's actually Corbin. Acanthus has been friends with Corbin since the 16th century, and very much adores him, despite not always seeing eye to eye with him. They go long periods of time without speaking, and Acanthus hates that.
17: politics in the story....
HA. Our characters are basically embroiled in politics from the start. Cypress isn't completely aware of all the politics, but they learn quickly when they accidentally start a war. Werewolf packs are also hierarchal. So there's that added layer.
18: who makes your MC feel safe?
For Cypress, it's Acanthus obviously.
For Acanthus, I would say Azalea and Corbin. Cypress does too, but they're often impulsive and Acanthus like certainty when they're in a state of upset.
19: GIF/Audio/Description of what your characters do to unwind.
Acanthus --
Cypress --
20: Self love in the story
When Acanthus needs a confidence boost, they take the time to soak in the bath, and spend a little bit more time on their appearance. They lean pretty heavily into a feminine gender expression, and will take the time to pick some more flattering clothes and do a full face of makeup.
(Skipped the 21st)
22: A side character you loveCorbin.
He doesn't come into the story directly until way after Lemon Balm, but he's talked about. He's a charming bastard with a heart of gold and he puts Cypress in their place regularly.
23: character's favorite color
Acanthus' is pthalo green, and Cypress' is turqoise.
24: How do your characters show that they like someone?
Oh god. The simple answer is they don't -- they hide their feelings until they can't hide them anymore and either melt down or do something rash. Acanthus and Cypress are both awful at that.
25: Is your MC a heartbreaker?
Cypress is well aware that he has charm, and has been known to use it to his advantage, but very very rarely now that Acanthus and himself are together. Acanthus is very much not a heartbreaker, thank you. At least, that's what they'd say, lol.
26: GIF/Audio/Description of how your characters faced their fears.
I think this GIF fits for both Acanthus and Cypress. They look inside themselves, make peace with their own monsters, and also see what they cannot abide in their enemies. They face their fears by breaking down what scares them and steeling themselves, doing what needs to be done.
27: does love win in your story?
For the two MCs absolutely. Worldwide? Technically, this is a spoiler and left unanswered by the end of Lemon Balm. But ultimately, yes, after several books, love wins.
(I didn't answer the 28th)

As someone who has experienced all those woes before, I can confidently present the best Hollister cologne for guys by category so you can find one for you. On a budget? Check out our budget-friendly cologne options for under $50. Want to step outside Hollister? Consider these colognes to try now. Cologne shouldn’t stress you out; it should bring out your confidence and allow you to put your best foot forward. That principle brings me to removing the guesswork and presenting the six best Hollister Colognes for guys. Keep reading, and I’ll get into it. Key Takeaways The best overall cologne pick on this list is Hollister Wave. For one thing, women love it. Although selecting a cologne should be about catering to your preference, you can’t deny the impact of your girl’s opinion on it. At least, I can’t. Besides that, Hollister Wave is a clean-cut fragrance that will leave you feeling your best. It gives you sufficient confidence even to step up out of the crowd. Hollister Wave has power but not too much; you can trust it to cover your day-to-day smells from that first spritz on through and well into the night. Hollister Wave has been my standby for quite a while; I found it when I was a junior in college and have hung onto it ever since. Most people recognized me more for my cologne than for other things. Another in the ranks of the best Hollister cologne is Festival Vibes. Festival Vibes is a timeless scent and one of the best colognes for men, young and old. It is ranked as the best for young men on this list. That’s true because it’s an excellent introduction to the cologne world in general. Users will find the scent mature and long-standing, making it ideal for a guy at any age. Festival Vibes is one of my long-time favorites because of its versatility; throughout the day, the scent shifts but maintains a delicious and inviting allure. metrodept / Instagram Hollister Wave is for men looking to develop confidence in themselves and who they are. A simple spritz unlocks the adventurer in you; it did that for me. Hollister Wave is a perfect spring-summertime scent to accompany you on all your adventures. Whether swinging golf clubs on the green, networking during a business meeting or picking up that special someone for a night out, Hollister Wave will leave you feeling good. Why it’s great: Hollister Wave is unique because it’s long-lasting, and as a spring-summertime scent, that’s important in the warm weather. I was a busy guy with many things on my plate, but with Hollister Wave, I never doubted that I smelled nice and clean. Who is this for?: The scents of Hollister Wave are also a fan favorite; it’s a classic woodsy mix that’s a winner for everyone. This makes it perfect for those just starting to wear cologne or those who’ve worn it for years. You’ll never go wrong with Hollister Wave. Flaws but not deal-breakers: You might like the smell of the woods. I certainly do. But not everyone does. Keep that in mind. Top Notes: Yuzu, Bamboo, Grapefruit | Middle Notes: Lavender, Cypress, Neroli | Base notes: Driftwood, Salt, Musk | Size: 3.4 fl oz | Type: Eau de Toilette | Season: Spring and Summer Although you may assume Jake by Hollister is for those seeking cologne for a bargain, Jake by Hollister is much more than that. I’ve turned to it plenty of times and have even gifted it to my younger nephews, who also love it. Typically, when I entirely run out of gift ideas, this is the cologne I always end up with. At least I know it will not disappoint. Why it’s great: Jake by Hollister is a lovely, traditional, fresh scent that will impress anyone you pass almost all year round! Bring with you dreams of surfing, tanning, and spending hours on a sandy beach with this subtle cologne. Jake by Hollister is special for its lingering scent that doesn’t pack a too-powerful punch, making it one of the best Hollister colognes for guys you can get. Top Notes: Sandalwood | Middle Notes: Citrus | Base notes: Driftwood, Salt | Size: 3.4 fl oz | Type: Eau de Cologne | Season: Spring, Summer, and Fall. That’s right! Hollister Wave 2, a spin on Hollister Wave, has come to play. As someone who had Hollister Wave as my first favorite, Hollister Wave 2 is another solid contender. Why it’s great: Like many of Hollister’s colognes, this scent fares well for those long summer days under the sun, it’s bound to impress during interviews, networking, or that very first date. And if you want to spray before bed, the scent is perfect for lulling you to sleep. Who is this for?: This cologne is a perfect fit for men of any age, young and old. The fresh and spicy hints mesh well with the floral bits of geraniums and lavender, creating a beautiful, masculine scent that follows you as you cross the room. Hollister Wave 2 is unique because you are. Flaws but not deal-breakers: This scent is woody and long-lasting. Remember this when you’re planning your day (and night). Top Notes: Ozonic, Bergamot, White pepper | Middle Notes: Geranium, Sage, Lavender | Base notes: Musk, Woody, Sandalwood | Size: 3.4 fl oz | Type: Eau de Toilette | Season: Spring and Summer With just one whiff of Hollister Free Wave, everyone will understand how it won this category on my list. With impressive longevity, Hollister Free Wave is the best Hollister cologne for those who are out and about chasing after what they want. Why it’s great: Hollister Free Wave is special because of how unique it is; it’s a sandy coastline with a driftwood accent all in one beckon to you and all you walk by. Who is this for?: Young men (and older men), Hollister Free Wave symbolizes your ambition and dedication to your goals. It’ll accompany you through the start of sunny days in the spring to the leaves dropping on the ground come fall. Hollister Free Wave is my go-to spritz for important events like job interviews or presentations; it gives me a little extra confidence to seize the day. Flaws but not deal-breakers: This is the smell of the sea. Some people like that; some people don’t. Top Notes: Ginger, Lime, Pink Pepper | Middle Notes: Algae, Moss, White Iris | Base notes: Driftwood, Cedar, Ambergris | Size: 3.4 fl oz | Type: Eau de Toilette | Season: Spring, Summer, and Fall Hollister Festival Vibes is a beautiful introductory cologne for young men because it has a bit of everything and, of course, it all smells good. Why it’s great: There are aquatic scents with marine hints, touches of fruit from the pineapple, and a pleasant woodsy, outside musk due to the bay leaf and oakmoss qualities. Hollister Festival Vibes will make every day feel like a summer day; what more could you ask for? Who is this for?: That mixture of alluring scents makes it so unique; all these strong, masculine scents come together to create that perfect summer fragrance that isn’t overwhelming but sticks around subtly. No note overpowers; instead, they harmonize for an iconic scent that never gets old, which is why it’s one of the best colognes for young men. Flaws but not deal-breakers: It’s a subtle aquatic scent, but it still gives the hint of the sea. Keep that in mind if you’re planning on being around people who don’t like that sort of scent. Top Notes: Pineapple, Sea, Birch Leaf | Middle Notes: Woody, Green, Ginger, Bay Leaf | Base notes: Oakmoss | Size: 3.4 fl oz | Type: Eau de Toilette | Season: Spring and Summer Hollister Coastline Cologne earns the title of best every day because it’s a classic scent that bodes well for anything thrown at you. Fancy dinner party or just a night out with your friends? This spritz is suitable for all, and you should know: I’m on my third bottle of it. Why it’s great: Hollister Coastline Cologne is unique because of its versatile quality; it can be worn everywhere and anytime. You’ll definitely appreciate its citrusy, herbal blend and hints of coastal forest and ocean spray. Who is this for?: Running late after the gym and don’t have time to freshen up? One spray, and it’s all taken care of. That’s how special the Hollister Coastline Cologne is and why it’s on this list of the best Hollister cologne for guys. When you’re searching for something simple to get you through your busiest day, Hollister Coastline will be there every step of the way. Flaws but not deal-breakers: Something that can be worn everywhere is not always a good thing. Top Notes: Sandalwood | Middle Notes: Sage, Citrus, Mandarin Orange | Base notes: Clary Sage | Size: 3.4 fl oz | Type: Eau de Cologne | Season: Spring and Summer the_fragrance__island / Instagram Buying Considerations for the Best Hollister Cologne Now that you’ve lasered in on a scent you’d like to try, there are some things you should consider before you make that final purchase. Price Just because a cologne is pricey doesn’t mean it’s the very best! Stick to your budget; you’ll be able to find a cologne you like that won’t break the bank by limiting your cologne search to the ones you can afford. Likewise, expensive colognes can be well worth it. It depends on your situation and your budget. Size Cologne bottles are priced by their size; depending on how often you plan on wearing your cologne (every day or just for special occasions) will help you determine the size of cologne you purchase and how much you spend. For instance, I store a smaller bottle of the Coastline Cologne exclusively for business trips. This is because it passes airport flying requirements and gives me something different when working abroad. Similarly, I have a larger bottle of the scents I like to use daily, like Hollister Wave, to keep up. I also enjoy using it if I’d like to refresh clothes in my closet but need help to throw them in the wash. Scent Everyone has their scent preference for their cologne, so make sure the colognes you’re looking at reflect what you like or what your girl likes. No matter how much the bottle costs, you don’t want to spend anything on a cologne that you won’t like or only sort of like. You should also experiment; our tastes can change as we age, so don’t hesitate to dip your feet into unknown waters.
