Hey do you think how fucked up it is that both Kristen and Buddy were sacrificed for the Church of Sol?
Kristen was set to be killed by the Harvestment and taken to infernal hell to start an apocalypse and free Kalvaxis
Buddy was brought over by his Grandfather who was working with Porter to set him up as a God of War and Conquer. He was probably directed to work with the Rat Grinders without actually knowing the full scope, only to be killed and given to another Deity.
Some twisted shit man

I think there’s something ironic about how one of the things Kristen was told about Helio and why she should come back is the idea that the bad things that have happened to her wouldn’t have happened if she’d stayed Helio’s chosen one.
But like the very first time she died she was still with Helio. Through most of season one despite her questioning her faith she was with Helio. Some of the worst moments of her life happened in the name of Helio. Her parents essentially kicked her out and kind of disowned her in the name of Helio. Her own coach tried to kill her in the name of Helio. While she was still with Helio. If being with Helio would’ve stopped her from dying the second time then why didn’t it stop her the first time.
And like the most recent episode only proves that point because Buddy was supposed to be Kristen’s replacement, the new stand in chosen one for the salvation they longer have (because they chased her away. Because she wasn’t what they wanted her to be). And he still died. He was betrayed horribly and Helio didn’t help him at all, as far as we saw. There was no warning, no divine intervention on Helio’s part. And no matter how much the church or his grandpa wants to pretend he is he is no chosen one to be cherished and kept alive at all costs unless for the greater good. And unlike Kristen he can’t simply bring himself back from the dead.
If Helio was really all that great maybe he shouldn’t have let his two favorites die so horribly huh.
#maybe if helio was actually benevolent and forgiving he would’ve told kristen to turn around in that temple#thinking about how the church that regarded kristen as so holy and upstanding turned their backs on her the second she stopped being perfect#something about how even kristen’s dead goddess tried to do more than Helio#this episode has me thinking so much about kristen and helio#I think this show has the most media analysis I’ve ever done in my life#autism (mads) speaks#fantasy high#fhjy#fantasy high junior year#dimension 20#fhjy spoilers#dimension 20 fhjy#dimension 20 fantasy high#d20#d20 fhjy#d20 fantasy high#kristen applebees#buddy dawn

Literally in the first episode of Fantasy High, I watched an arguement that I had several times with my conservative uncles. It boils down to “According to the main message of your faith, our Divinity accepts everyone who is good of heart and kind - hating people for any reason is antithetical.” Kristen was arguing positive points using her faith as a guide
Which like - im not a christian or religious anymore (raised southern baptists and decided that if God exists he’s cruel) but the immediate writing off of everyone who’s part of a Main Stream Religion as Problematic really pisses me off, ya know?
Like sure, Wolfsong has waterslides and snowball fight and a lot of entertainement during a major holiday and then everyone is trying to figure out how they’re evil ehen they’re just having fun. Hey, my former church (Prestonwood Baptist Church and Benttree Community church in Dallas Texas) i have met so may deeply devout and scripture oriented people who are so incredibly loving and giving that they are leagues above anyone else I know, and for Good Friday they still had a wayer slide cause that shit is fun. Some of the most hateful people I know ALSO use religion as an excuse.
I get that organized Religion can house a lot of hate and evil (im writing my thesis on American Fascism and evangelical faith is a big part) but so many people who are Religious are just good people? Like the basic morals of the Torah+Talmund, the Bible and the Qur’an are really positive? Half the catholic church is socialist?
It just speaks to the religious illiteracy in America. Helio isn’t bad - the racist worshippers who through ‘as above so below’ influence their god ARE bad. Brennan says the Harvestmen are a fringe Minority - newsflash, the KKK is a christian group and the majority of christians reject them and find their message to be a spit in the face to Jesus. Why would it be different in Fantasy High if its supposed to be a commentary? I think Helio chose Kristen because he wanted her to free him from the racist status quo (he was giving her spells for all of freshman year supporting her against Sol up until Spring break if not beyond)
#fantasy high#dimension 20#fantasy high junior year#fhjy#saint kristen applebees#kristen fantasy high#kristen applebees#helio#i think Helio is a himbo#and his dad is a Monarch#galicaea literally murdered Cassanra and y’all root for her church to get redeemed but Sol and Helio? Evil and doomed to hell#it also shows a misunderstand of dnd ‘good’#the evil gods are the ones who send demon armies or try to destroy civilization#sol is a manipulative and stern bastard but when the Apocalypse comes#he’s probably gonna save us#dnd ‘good’ is different from our good

#quoth silver#dimension 20#fhjy#fantasy high#d20 spoilers#fhjy spoilers#i'm allowed to make that joke i'm a hindu#seriously though i'd been considering the way that clerics work in spyre and how it's a bit strange to me#to only worship the one god when you have a whole pantheon to believe in#and like i get that the church of sol/helio is an allegory for fundamentalist? christianity so that's what kristen's arc looks like#but this was a very fun end to the season and a lot of thoughts i'd had!#brb i might write some fic about it 👀👀

Porter and the Ratgrinders lowkey give alt right pipeline
#the focus on rage all season? porter’s oath of ancestors? his specifically conquest-y ancestors?#the way the ratgrinders had their hatred harnessed?#idk how to explain it but it feels v similar to the helio and christian church parallels#fantasy high liveblogging#fantasy high junior year#fantasy high spoilers

only one episode out and I might have to become the #1 Kristen Applebees defender
#i will post abg the rest of the badkids later cuz i love them but#everyone being agast and scandalized by kristen being an asshole to her god must not have watched the first few seasons?#really and truly did you expect her to change??#ppl were speculating her dumping/being on the rocks w cassandra since 2020 this is not new information this is just how she is#AND I FEEL BAD FOR CASSANDRA genuinely i do! of course she doesnt deserve to be ignored or mistreated after all shes been thru!#after all kristen promised her!!#but kristen applebees is like 16 maybe 17 years old a fucking teenager who was literally made into a holy figure by her home church#or the church of helio#all that pressure at a young age gave her irrevocable religious trauma#she crafted a god from scratch one specifically made for HER to worship and even that wasnt enough#shes super flawed!!! but i dont see the point in jumping her about it yk 🤷#thought bubbles#fantasy high#kristen applebees

It just feels so safe to him. It feels so safe to be sequestered and small and hidden the way these shards of Kristen's goddess are. Held by someone who loves her, who saved her, who believes in her, who holds her gently and understands her like no one else. He's drawn by his doubts about his life and his religion and his parents, all things that he believes he belongs to, not that belong to him. The idea that Kristen's goddess belongs to her, but she also belongs to her goddess. A mutual belonging. Something he has never felt before.
The STRESS!!!!! THE STRESS OF NOT BELONGING TO YOURSELF!!!!!!! He's been taking Stress Tokens and you KNOW IT!! He's becoming more and more stressed and strained, and seeing the shards of Cassandra with his sister fills him with this very base, instinctual form of comfort, of relief. It's divinity within his reach, if he only allows himself to ask the question. If he only says 'Maybe I can belong to myself first and my family/church second.' He's never been allowed to ask any questions about himself except 'How do I serve better?' 'How do I be a good kid?' OF COURSE HE'S A FUCKING PALADIN WITH THAT MINDSET!
But in this moment, he's not thinking about serving those above him. He's not thinking of Being Good. He's not thinking of what his parents might do or say, or the fact that he lied to them about the gold, or whatever feeling attempting to proselytize to his party incites in him. He's just thinking 'What is that? Can I touch it? Can I see it? Can I be closer to it?'
I'm crying I'm fucking crying
so much happened this episode that was important on a grand scale but the most important thing for me was bucky applebees reaching out to touch the shards of cassandra; bucky, who clearly still loves and looks up to his big sister in spite of the things i’m sure he’s heard his parents say about her, who asks her questions because he cares about the answer, not because he’s trying to get something out of her, who is facing minor conflict with his party because he’s trying to convert them to helio (just like kristen did with hers freshman year), paladin of helio, reaches out to touch the shards of the goddess of doubt, mystery, and the night as though drawn to them, only stopped by his father’s hand
#*big sobby wibbly cryful sniffles*#MY BABY BOOOOOYYYYYYYYY--#Bucky. my little Buckaroo. My precious paladin boy.#boy made of promises#promised to Helio promised to his family promised to his church promised to everybody but himself#thinking that's what love looks like until he feels loved when Kristen leaves and leaves a bunch of gold for him and their other siblings#this is the point where I realized I should just say this In The Reblog#but like---#cries and cries and cries and cries#is this because I am also a paladin? *Yes.*#is it profound regardless? *also yes*#fantasy high#fantasy high junior year spoilers#fantasy high junior year
