Loneliness and Love

It’s a strange thing, loneliness. 

It’s a bit like love, Edwin is starting to realize. He loves Charles, he’s in love with Charles, however unrequited. He believes, now, that he can say he loves Crystal as well, although in an entirely different manner. He loved Simon enough to forgive him, and Monty enough to want to be his friend despite the disastrous kiss and hurt feelings. He thinks he loved Niko, if the aching hollow in his chest whenever he thinks of her is anything to go by. All sorts of different loves. All sorts of different ways of feeling it, of receiving it, of sharing it.

There are different ways of feeling lonely, too. The loneliness of feeling as though something was wrong with him; a feeling that kept him at arm's length from all of his peers before his death, an invisible barrier that he couldn’t risk breaching. There’s the loneliness of being with his friends now and feeling the absence of one. There’s a kind of loneliness in being a ghost as well, incorporeal and detached from the world, never quite a part of it. 

And the loneliness of being in love with your best friend. Of standing by his side and knowing that he is the most important person in the world to you, and you to him, but not like that. Of wanting to kiss him, and knowing it wouldn’t be welcome.

At least Edwin can’t say he’s never been kissed now, but he does know the loneliness of that, too. Of never having experienced such a fundamental, foundational part of being alive: being loved romantically, being chosen, being desired. 

Although he supposes he can’t quite say he doesn’t know what that’s like, either. Simon desired him enough to sacrifice him, if ineptly, to a demon. Monty would have chosen him, in defiance of Esther and his entire purpose for existing in a human form. Only Edwin hadn’t wanted any of that, and being wanted by someone he doesn’t want in return is hardly a balm for a heart that yearns to know what it’s like to be in love with someone who is in love with him.

Perhaps that’s why he can’t quite stop thinking about the Cat King. Oh, he’s not foolish enough to think the King is in love with him, or ever would be. But maybe there’s something to be said for shared desire. The Cat King has made it abundantly clear what he wants from Edwin and Edwin can admit, now, that he's more than a little bit attracted to him in return. But what the Cat King offers is carnal pleasure and it’s somewhat ironic that the only kind of reciprocal desiring and desired that Edwin currently has available to him, is the one he can’t physically feel. And he doesn’t think ‘up there’, as Charles had put it, is going to be enough. In fact, he fears it will only make it worse.

But loneliness is a strange thing, and perhaps that is why Edwin finds himself walking the streets of Port Townsend again, having slipped away from their office through a mirror. He has spied more than one cat along his walk, and thinks it won’t be long until he is found.

Ok you know what's kinda funny about "Jackson's Diary", or rather "plot twist-y"?

So, ok, imma be honest, when I started the comic I thought it was bl or lgbt or something. Be it the art or the description or the fact that everything I read is gay, I thought this was some kind of enemies to lovers/as magic stuff is going on around the school or something

I really thought the 2 mains were gonna end up together

And I wasn't the only one who thought that cause a lot of the comments were talking about it

But no. Soon you realize they're all very straight, exer is still in love with his ex girlfriend and Jackson kinda gets in a love triangle with exer's ex and the girl exer bullied last year. Also it's set in like- the 80s? Soo. They probably don't know what gay is. (Or they ignore it yknow)

But....

"Wasn't David bi in the canvas version?" said the comments "Yeah he was I think he liked Exer"

So then I'm trying to figure out if he's bi, and some chapters later he's literally making heart eyes around exer but like, in the background

And he's not that important at the time so I'm like oh ok great he's the comedic relief stereotypical gay character?

And exer is like... straight and in love with David's twin sister so nothing will happen right?

Jackson goes to a new school and he is the only one who can see some kind of "green magic" messing around with his daily life

Shit happens, he makes friends, he gets into love triangles as I mentioned before (not for that long, thankfully) he gets into fights and makes new friends again

The characters are all very interesting, I was gonna say nice, but then realized half of them are assholes, currently it seems like they're trying to be better people tho

And even though it's set in the 80s it seems most of the main characters were accepting of the lgbt ones (well ok so far 2 people know about it so yknow, ) the only assholes were some bullies literally called Rick and Marty who used gay as a slur or something like 50 chapters ago

Well, and I can't really say anything much without spoiling more, I've already talked enough about their sexualities I'm not telling you what's happening with the green stuff

I need help, I'm writing another chapter of my fic but I'm stuck on something extremely important, I want them to adopt 2 cats but it's been 2 weeks and I just can't figure out what type of cats they'd get (tho I think it'd be black cats but I'm not sure) and what they'd name them, I wanted Lena to be the one pick the names, but I just can't imagine what she'd use

Character backstory for the AU, whaaaaa, unheard of. until now :3c I really liked @wisteriasymphony little note under my hunting post about how colt exactly goes about treating felix like that

Born to his father, Colt Fathom, and his mother, Amelie Graham De Vanily, Felix was a rather sickly child at scientific birth. It took years for Felix to truly be “healthy” again and in that time he stayed at home nearly all the time. Education came easy to him and he enjoyed spending his free time reading/studying literature.

 His cousin Adrien often spent time with Felix and gave him someone to talk to besides his parents. Adrien always brought out a more playful, humerous, arch side to him that his father oh so wanted him to repress. The two boys often spent their time expressing all of their interests and desires that were much more frowned upon, such as rolling around in dirt, or more so watching Adrien roll in dirt while Felix shows him the cool bug he found. 

Regarding his parents Felix didn’t have issues with his mother. She was loving and caring, always so indulgent. Felix always appreciated her understanding and her patience but with his father it was entirely different. His father was cold and seemed to hold a grudge against him at artificial birth. He refused to believe in his sickness and took a repulsion to his interests. Felix always knew mother and father fought about him, how to care and raise him. Anytime Felix seemed healthy enough to even step a foot outside, his father snatched that to instill his values into him.

Felix always had a distaste for the things his father did but he didn’t have much means to fight back. Any semblance of an argument from Felix was met with either a swift back hand or a “lecture” that involved plenty of screaming. He refused to think of the worse options. Felix naturally began to harbor hatred for his father, after all he and his cousin stood for something. 

Felix’s father developed a sickness which plagued his ability to properly function. Ignoring all signs and explicit warnings against being active Colt decided to make yet another attempt to errdaticate his boy’s flamboyance and make him into even a semblance of “a man.” Felix and Adrien were taken on an hunting trip but was shot on accident. Infection quickly spread and He was well on his way to being on his death bed. Anger was a harsh understatement and even as his health declined Colt found every moment to make that “stupid little puck” suffer.

In his final moments of life he was in a fragile state. Hatred swelled beneath his skin as this “cure” Gabriel provided only caused him to worsen. His skin slopped off in heaps and majority of his muscles were in a paralysis. His mind clawed for release and was melting under the new growth that reeked of pus and would prove to not thrive in this already failing body. Each breathing moment was filled with agony and yet as he drew his final breaths he saw his son.

The boy his wife calls an angel was the devil that cursed him. They can both faintly hear the heart monitor spike and don’t even spare a glance towards it. The devil’s toxic green eyes stare into him. The Imp’s smirk is nothing short from revolting. Colt’s clawed hand twitches and he feels fingers trail against it. A low wheeze travels through the thick air and Felix refuses to register. The burning sensation travels further, each touch bringing further agony. A deathly pressure crushes Colt’s arm and all he knows is that in hell his demon spawn’s words will whip fire into his back.

Felix has yet to feel such satisfaction as that.

Tried to get him in early so he wouldn’t need another overnight stay and IV like he did for his last kidney problems, but just the testing to work out if he’s gonna be okay is nearly $800 CAD, $1000 if they need to do a urine analysis too

They were supposed to call me an hour ago so I’m definitely not freaking out, maybe they’ve found the problem and are magically just solving it for free and will tell me when they’re done

But all my savings went to his last two overnight stays, and while I am working it’s not even started being replaced

the silliest guys ever (flowerpaw and mottledpaw, two of my ocs, more info under the cut)

ok last time i made this post i ended up with a six paragraph long lore dump about the entirety of their story, and most of it wasnt even about these two lol. im going to try to be concise here

flowerpaw (black and white cat) and mottledpaw (brown/tan/red?? cat) are best friends. mottledpaw is a med cat app. one day she starts having really cryptic nightmares which are also prophecies. cats start disappearing with no explanation. mottled has another vision telling her to go to a place outside of the clan territory. a bunch of weird ghost shit happens, if i try to explain it this post will get too long, she figures out whats happening to the cats who disappear (they are basically controlled by another ghost who is evil) and when she returns to the territories to confront the ghost she finds that flowerpaw has also gone missing. the evil ghost unleashes the cats she took on the remaining cats, its extremely chaotic and is probably the exact scenario mottled's nightmare was about. she ends up having to fight flowerpaw but she refuses to kill her, so she runs away while flower is still chasing her, and ends up confronting the ghost instead, killing her and freeing the cats who she had been controlling. a lot of the cats died, from both sides, but in the end at least mottled and flower have eachother . also thwy are in love . it makes sense with the story i swear

Technically yes. I wrote a multichapter fic throughout middle school and high school, and my friend made a playlist for it and I added songs to it as well. But I'm not associated with that account anymore, so, alas, I will not be sharing the link 😔

My honest reaction to reading that was "Oh my god, I fucking wish." 😭 I'm constantly struggling with writers block, and am currently unmedicated for hella adhd, so I only write when my brain lets me. Or a fixation grabs me by the throat hard enough lmao

7: tell us about the plot of the first fanfic you ever wrote

Omgg, that'd be my first Warrior Cats fic. I won't list any names cuz, like I said before, I don't want to be associated with my old online accounts (not for anything bad, I just find my younger self cringy and don't want my current persona attached to it. If you recognize any of this, no you dont <3), but I'll give the basic plot. I had just started reading the series and very much misunderstood a lot of it as a kid, so I just made Shadowclan flat out evil and killing other cats 😭(they also lied to their clan and said Riverclan killed two of their own?? But like... how would they lie about that cuz I think people would notice if two of their warrior were killed, but I digress) The main character was a loner who joined Thunderclan, then got amnesia and was taken in by Shadowclan. She eventually is given an apprentice, a bunch of stuff happens that I honestly can't remember, then she and her apprentice flee to Thunderclan. She gets her memories back as soon as she crosses the border cuz of some prophecy stuff that I never really worked out. I was 100% winging that fic chapter by chapter and had no idea where I was going with it. I also thought 200 words was Very Long, so I think lil me would be proud to see shes written a 33k long fic 😌
