thinking about the ending of dragon age 2 as a mage hawke who sided with the mages at the end of the fifth blight, the warden defeats the archdemon and saves ferelden. they are paraded through denerim to the sounds of cheering crowds. if they don't survive, their memory lives on in a tale of great heroism and sacrifice for years to come. the inquisitor celebrates at skyhold with the rest of their companions after they beat corypheus, the threat finally ended, the inquisition a success.
but not hawke. you can fight with everything you have to support the mages, but there is no grand fanfare when it is over. the villain succumbs to corruption and dies unceremoniously - you don’t even get the satisfaction of striking the killing blow. you can’t get a round at the hanged man to celebrate. it’s time to go. you and your friends can never sit around your table at the hanged man again. you can’t be seen here when the templars come to clean up the mess. nothing will be the same. you have given seven years of your life trying to hold kirkwall together, accepted your accolades and played the part of champion, and you watch it fall apart anyway. and how much of that is your fault? this city has been stained in your blood since before you could remember, since before the blood was your own.
you lost your sister when you lost your first home. even so, you tried to live by the advice you gave fenris - when you stop running, you build a life. the estate that you clawed your family back into stands looming and empty. it is the last place you saw your mother alive, and you still can't bear to touch her things, and you will never even see her room again. bodahn and sandal are making preparations to leave for orlais, orana will find other work with the skills she's learned, and the house will remain, a hollow testament to your family's legacy. gamlen will hear only the stories. your brother fought by your side when it mattered, despite everything. even so, he will stay behind, and you might never see him again.
no, there is no time for a celebration. instead you get a cautious acknowledgement from the templars, a tense goodbye, and then you can never go home again. for the second time. you thought you could build a life, and you tried. you held on as long as you could, you made friends, you fell in love, you clung to the last vestiges of your family, but most of them will be forced to leave your side anyway. you won, but even that wasn't enough.

Played through the dragon age games with my wife. We just have the inquisition dlc to go.
But I wanted to pay tribute to all the time spent with her, watching her excitement and frustration by drawing our player characters in portraits with their love interests.
I had to play with their designs first and yay, she liked them!

[Champion of Kirkwall, Bautista Hawke]
Reintroducing my silly Hawke for my current world state. He's a mage and his specializations are Spirit Healer and Blood Mage (that's later in Act 3 and late Act 2). He's also romancing Anders, he does help around his clinic. Bautista is very friendly and a ray of sunshine, he's very enthusiastic about magic and the fade. He is very sweet and would do anything and everything for his friends and family.

Alright hear me out
You're playing Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, and you come across a shiny collectable during on the main quests. It's a shard of a Eluvian. A side-main quest begins stating you must collect a certain number of mirror pieces. It's your choice if you want to put in the hours of finding them. If you do, you'll eventually find the location of a cracked Eluvian. You put the pieces together and it activates. It's a portal to the Fade. A demon barrels through and attacks you and your group. You defeat it and collect the treasure. Quest done, enemy dead, now it's time to go. Except. The Eluvian glows and just when you're expecting another demon to come out—you instead watch as a human is thrown out. They stand up and there, injured and bruised but alive, is the person the Inquisitor left in the Fade. If it's Alistair/Loghain/Stroud you get a thank you letter from Romanced!Fem!Warden/Anora/the Wardens respectively, and either an Tiered/leveled weapon/armour or schematic. If it's Hawke, though? Varric sends you a thank you letter, a signed copy of The Tale of the Champion (which you can read completely in the codex), weapon/armour, a unique schematic, and also a bag of gold to "help cover the costs of whatever Hawke broke while they were in your care".

Context:
As I’ve mentioned before, my first Rook is going to be one of my old fenhawke kids. Right now, I’m filling in the blanks about what he was doing between the end of DA2 and the start of DA4, and that includes a brief stint at Skyhold.
He’s 15. He has never read The Tale of the Champion. Hawke and Fenris do not want him to read The Tale of the Champion.
He really wants to read The Tale of the Champion.
Who at Skyhold is going to give him a copy of The Tale of the Champion when he asks? All of these characters would know who this teenager is and would be able to infer that if Hawke wanted his kid to read this book, Hawke/Varric would have given him the book.
There is a reason why the characters who are not listed in the poll are not listed in the poll. I would really prefer it if people would pick one of the options in the poll, but if you absolutely can’t and have to pick the penultimate option, please tell me who you would go with and why!
Any input is appreciated!

Continuing my drawings of my DA protagonists we have all four of my Hawke’s! My Champions Of Kirkwall! My Menaces to Society. Will I ever play DA2 as a warrior? No more questions.

I’m curious: how does your ocs decorate their rooms? Can be Wardens, Hawkes, or Inquisitors, or even side ocs as well.
