Tang Yun x Hall Headcanons:

(I feel like some of these are ooc/mischaracterized I'm so sorry)

They already met before either joined the Decree because their brothers hung out a lot, but they only started to know each other after becoming shadow guards

They first met when Bardon dragged Hall to one of Lucas’ shows, and while trying to find a spot to get away from the overwhelming music and yelling, Hall found Tang Yun hiding in a secluded corner, at the brink of tears and having a huge sensory overload (one day I’ll write a fanfic about it)

They both have very cheesy but cute pet names for each other:

I've already mentioned in a post that Hall calls Yun "Angel" because of the shape of his ears, but he also calls him "Min Elskede" which means "my darling" or "my beloved" in danish

And Yun calls Hall "pudding" because he likes to say that Hall is very sweet, just like pudding

Tang Yun likes to play with Hall's hair when he's bored or as a distraction to pass thr time after missions, he always does tiny braids on it

They’re both bilingual and they're teaching each other how to speak their languages(Hall speaks Danish and Tang Yun speaks Mandarin)

When they first started dating, Leon threatened to snipe Tang Yun if he ever hurt Hall's feelings and the Xie twins, especially Yuzhi, also made similar threats towards Hall  (they threatened to bury him alive if he ever fucked up)

They can't even stand next to each other without some shadow guard yelling “GET A ROOM”, it's mostly either Freddy, Jeanne or Yuzhi doing that just to annoy them

Tang Yun learned how to write in braille so he could leave little notes with loving messages scattered around Hall's apartment for him to read, Hall thinks it's really cute and he kept all the notes found so far

Hall is the only person in the SD that Yuzhi refuses to prank and if asked why, he’ll say that it's out of respect for Yun, since the two are dating (bullshit, he has seen the damage Tang Yun can do to someone who messes with Hall and he doesn't wanna risk ending up at the morgue over a prank, Yuzhi enjoy being alive with all his bones & organs intact, thank you very much!)

Tang Yun's love language is biting, no I will not elaborate

Hall learned how to make homemade chocolate pudding to surprise Yun on his birthday, or when he's having a bad week

Tang Yun is very needy and affectionate, but he's terrified of becoming annoying or a burden to Hall, so he tried his best to not be needy at all(abandonment issues does that to people, saying this from experience :D)

They crash at each other's place so often it feels like they're practically living together, they even have keys to each other's apartments:

Because of this, Hall started keeping hair products in his apartment even though he doesn't need them, they're for Yun since he comes by so often, sometimes Hall will use some of the products just because the scent is nice and reminds him of Yun

Tang Yun started keeping some of Hall's clothes and favorite action movies for a similar reason, he'll sometimes watch some movies by himself when Hall is away in a mission

The only person that can convince Hall to put on a shirt is Tang Yun and no one can change my mind

Hall started carrying noise canceling earbuds with him just in case Yun start having a sensory overload during one of their dates or in general

They're the only people in Grandis that Sander trusts enough to pet sit his cat for him, they even nicknamed the cat "Indigo"

Hall will frequently buy a random trinket and gift them to Tang Yun because it made him think of him(they're usually mini stuffed animals, mini axolotl figurines, ponpon keychains, bracelets, etc), as much as Yun thinks it's adorable and cherishes every single trinket given to him, he can't help but worry about Hall's spending habits

Tang Yun's avataras are also very affectionate to Hall, but that actually makes Yun a little jealous (this hc was inspired by "The New Guy" btw)

Hall started hanging out with the Xie twins more often because of Yun, He became their alibi whenever they did their pranks and sometimes he joins in on it as well

Tang Yun paints Hall's nails for him, they sometimes wear matching nails

Owls 100% I love owls. I have a pair of OCs I totally didn’t make while watching all of the Harry Potter movies with my family who are a snowy owl avian dude and his qpp shapeshifter who favours phoenix and dragon wings (not simultaneously.) right behind owls would be ravens and seagulls, maybe the blue heron. On a shelf somewhere below Ravens, seagulls and blue herons are mandarin ducks, hooded mergansers, peregrine falcons, and budgies

Favourite team in Haikyuu? Owl team (for reasons lutside of owls.) favourite twitch stream? Owls. One of my favourite OCs? Owl man (his name is Jameson)

My next favourite animal is probably either foxes or horses. Horses are really hard to draw but very fun and satisfying, fun to stick into any fantasy setting (especially if it’s inaccurate to what horses are actually capable of) and foxes are all sly and tricky and some can be poofy and round and others are generally styled to be slick and smooth. Btw this is all based around how I feel when I draw them and how often I draw them or their physical traits. Other animals I think about often are Canadian Lynxes, goats, and cats

Hi I'm da warrior cat artist comin in with name explanations

Firstly I wanted all of their suffixes to relate to the outside in some way. Sky, light, cloud, sun, etc. It just also works that Doc's is a nod to his defluxor as well.

Momo is a name of Japanese origin that means "peach", so his prefix was easy to figure out.

I struggled with Doc's. I chose Dock initially because haha, Doc and Dock sound the same, but then I worried that people would make inappropriate jokes about it, especially when paired with his suffix. So I was about to change it before I realized that his son's name is Seamus. I know it's pronounced "shame-us", but c'mon, it's perfect. (Seamus' wc name is Seamoss btw)

Dreamcloud was p easy. Looked up synonyms for meditation and picked the one that wasn't based in religion.

Clementine was fun. I didn't wanna just name her Clem again after the fruit, that'd be boring, so I went digging. Willow was my first option, but it felt too soft for her. Tangor, however, worked. Tangor's are citrus fruit hybrids of mandarin oranges and sweet oranges, the word itself being Tangerine + Orange. Clementines fall into the category of tangor, so it all circles back :]

Ok, got this weird idea for a SRMTHFG AU...

I've gotten obsessed with a fanfiction for another fandom which is a Harry Potter AU, and that kinda where it started. Then I began to look up a bunch of other AUs, specifically a show or a movie, but the characters go to Hogwarts.

For some reason, my brain was like "what if Antauri was somehow related to Luna Lovegood? Like they are cousins, or second cousins, or whatever." I don't know if I'll have that in this AU, but it is a possibility.

Name differences: SPRX goes by SPRX, but in this AU his name is Skylor. He doesn't like it though, so he would just introduce himself by his nickname. Gibson does allow people to call him "Hal," but only if you're really close to him. SkeleMandarin's name in this AU is Morty. Mandarin's name is Vyvyan (Vee as a nickname), but goes by Mandarin most of the time, which is just a nickname.

Vee, Morty and Nova are siblings. Nova is their half sister, they only share the same father, which is why she is a half-blood while they are pure-bloods. Vee and Morty are twins.

Street Dance of China, Season 4, Episode 4

- I’ve had issues with Tumblr not saving my posts again v.v I’ll just save often and hope that that does the trick.

- Latrice and Ibuki reenacting HB’s performance haha. From the behind the scenes clips I’ve seen, Ibuki does speak English, so I like to think they are now friends :D

- Hilty & Bosch have known each other since they were six years old T_T That’s cuuuute. Apparently they don’t get into arguments a lot because they always keep a distance between them XD Good strategy.

- San’er’s performance was great! He definitely brings the entertainment in his creativity (including incorporating a story line), but he doesn’t forget about the technical parts of dancing (the popping).

- Bouboo cheering on Rochka when he challenged Jianyan :P

- This spinning move he did was neat

- 不咋地 is going to be the recurring inside joke between Yibo, Rochka, and Bouboo ^^;;

- Yixing singing the SDOC theme song again XD With his super low energy voice XD

- Yibo was tipping the bench which was why Yixing and Henry were like, rocking back and forth at the same pace lol.

- Admittedly George vs. C-Lil was kind of rough. George tried to include Chinese elements in his performance, but he was injured, so he couldn’t really showcase them, and the latter part of his performance became just a typical contemporary dance. C-Lil’s performance was alright, but I think the judges were expecting something more impressive. While break dancing is very impressive to watch, I am starting to see the limitations of it, because if a dancer is not impressive, they are just kind of mediocre. George and C-Lil weren’t able to bring anything superbly impressive, which I think it was difficult for them to vote. Yibo abstained, and C-Lil got two votes, so C-Lil advanced.

- Zyko was incredible as always. It fascinates me how he’s mostly performed with these ballad type songs that don’t really have a beat. Also his flexibility is insane. I’m glad he got through with four votes because we need to see him more.

- I really liked Chika’s performance! I feel like women’s dancing is sometimes a bit limited in the mainstream because people just expect them to look sexy. It isn’t as much the case on this show because all of the ladies on this show are dancers and not idols or pop stars. But anyway, I just love seeing women dance without their bodies being sexualized. Chika’s dance showcased not only control over her body, but POWER. I loved her big movements. Compare the power that she shows vs. the power that say, Ibuki shows. Ibuki is a much smaller lady and it shows in her proportions, so how she expresses power looks different from how Chika expresses power, and Chika’s is the sort of power that I’ve really looked forward to seeing.

- Rochka fanboys over everybody, I love it. Keep spreading the love, dude.

- Ok, Xiaoji’s performance was pretty entertaining. I am not kidding when I say my jaw dropped, at the same time that all the captains went OH SNAP. But this guy definitely has charisma and stage presence. His confidence made up for his lack of ability to improvise XD I was CACKLING when this guy thought the song was done and Yibo was like “bro there’s more” and Xiaoji had to come up with something to end it off lol. I wouldn’t say his challenge was as good as Xiaohai’s, mostly because he hadn’t memorized the music like Xiaohai did. In terms of technical stuff, his performance did seem more impressive than Lai Wei’er’s, but he also did less “stuff” (like, there were a lot of pauses in his dance probably because he didn’t now the music). But Xiaoji’s was definitely more entertaining, though that may just be because of who he is and not his dancing. (By the way, Xiaoji’s real name is 林森. I thought the name 林木森 was just a joke because of how much wood was in it. I never guessed that someone would name their kid 林森 X’D Guess his 八字 indicated that he had a weakness in wood or something lol)

- Have some laughing captains, it’s good for the soul.

- Acky-san acknowledged that he’s probably not going to beat the younger dancers in terms of technique, so what he brought instead was style. The “robot” style of popping is pretty old, but no one else has done it in this competition probably because it’s so old school, and he definitely delivered in a way that only he could.

- Henry singing Frere Jacques with the French contingent X’D

- Thoughts on Han Yu vs. Boris. I can imagine what Han Yu was going for in his original performance, but I don’t think it worked. I don’t have the vocabulary to explain it, but basically the way his performance was choreographed just didn’t really impress. As Yibo mentioned, Boris was impressive in his dance to Han Yu’s music, but his dancing didn’t suit the song as much as Han Yu’s did. So the original dance + challenge was a matter of impressiveness vs. whether the dancing suited the music. Han Yu shone in the battle. I think he seemed a lot more impressive when back in a hip hop sort of groove, music that has a lot of major beats, compared to the piano music that was less grand an epic. As for Boris, I think that seeing a few of his performances in succession showed that his toolbox is a little limited in comparison to Han Yu. It hate to see Boris go because I loved his battle against Zyko but alas. I also wanted him to stay because he’s one of the few non-Chinese contestants who speak Mandarin relatively well. He had no issues speaking in Mandarin with most of the Chinese people on set. The ending was hilarious, when he was asked whether he had any last words, and Boris was like “well, I’m literally going to see these guys in two seconds when I’m back in the audience, I’m not dying” lmao.

- I don’t know how I feel about how the show has decided to deal with the last 29 contestants, of which three would be chosen to join the 49 dancers advancing. They’re competing fairly with the other contestants that haven’t performed yet, but they’re at a disadvantage compared to the previous contestants that were judged individually. For example, what if the fourth best dancer was better than a dancer that had already entered the 49? It would only be fair if the judges were allowed to take out people from the 46 contestants that had passed. It would’ve been a bigger problem if there were still a lot of big names to go though. Most of the best dancers have already secured a spot for themselves, so I think that’s why I’m not like, the most perturbed.

- I was low key waiting for Xiao Jie’s performance because his audition performance during episode 1 was so amusing. I thought his individual performance was fun! He managed to add some creativity and story telling (Chinese dude getting drunk) but also showcase some of his specialty skills (locking).

- I forgot to mention this before, but it amuses me that so the editing team will so diligently put in a “don’t try this at home” warning message whenever a dancer does a dangerous move haha.

- So the captains are doing a dance battle for the reborn event, but I’m not really sure how this is all gonna work. I’m digging Yixing’s look for the battle btw.

- Anyway, pre-battle hugs for all.

- KRUMPMASTER. Also I think he did some of the routine that he did back in Season 3.

- Not gonna lie, I wasn’t super impressed with Han Geng’s first dance but his second dance was pretty hype.

- Lol Yibo feels most comfortable challenging Yixing during his battles. He did move where he dropped onto his back right after Yixing did it (i.e. being like you can do it but I can do it better). Based on what I saw of season 3, I think Yibo would call out Yixing in his performances then too.

- Yixing was definitely heavy on the krump side, though I actually thought his first performance was really interesting because there was barely any krump in that one. He mostly stuck to other elements. As we got through the other rounds, he became more krump heavy, and I think he lost a bit in terms of variety there.

- The thing about Han Geng is that he’s no longer as athletic, so he relies more on power and control, but he needs to make sure he does the right moves that showcase that.

- I think Yibo impressed me the most. He had a lot of variety in his arsenal and he was very entertaining. He is also quite athletic, so as long as he can imagine it, I think he can do it haha.

- As others mentioned, Henry was extremely creative. He used a lot of dance moves to show a certain action, like tugging a rope or playing pool and such.

- Anyway, big hugs.

- They were talking about songs they listened to in their childhood. Han Geng started singing a song about an Office Black Cat? XD I’m guessing it’s a cartoon haha. Yibo listened to Leehom Wang and Jay Chou. Henry mentioned that he looked up to Leehom because he was also an overseas Chinese, plus he played a lot of instruments (just like Henry). As expected, Yixing looked up to Jay Chou (after all, Jay Chou was one of the earliest artists to popularize using Chinese elements in pop songs). Yixing said he also liked Leehom Wang, JJ Lin, and Khalil Fong (I legit have not heard the name 方大同 in a long time so that took me by surprise lol).

- Yibo mentioned Li Ronghao and Yixing was like OH WAIT YEAH HIM TOO. We know from Idol Producer that Yixing and Li Ronghao are bros haha. The captain says “不榮藝 組合” which pronounced the same as “不容易 組合” which is something like “unlikely duo,” except the the 榮 is from Li Ronghao’s name and the 藝 is from Zhang Yixing’s name lol.

Week 29 (3/18~3/24): Back to school! Meeting a new friend, and goodbye old friend.

Break is over. School’s back. We know the drill by now. Here are my new classes!

This time around, I do not have a mandatory core class (i.e. TOCC or 思想與社會). For my 1-on-1 class, I decided to review 思想與社會 as I felt like we didn’t have enough time last semester to fully master the material. I had much more freedom in picking other classes that I was genuinely interested in. 

Some of you might wonder why I decided to take Taiwanese (which is a variant of Hokkien Chinese). A lot of my classmates questioned my decision, saying that Taiwanese is not necessarily the most useful class. Honestly, I just wanted to try something new! I want to at least experience what it’s like to learn a Chinese dialect that is not Mandarin. But it’s going to be rough -- there are not four, but EIGHT TONES. Oh well, wish me luck my friends.

So if you want quick cheap sushi, then Sushi Express is the way to go. But if you genuinely want to savor your sushi, go to 朝鑫壽司 and feel that fresh sushi melt in your mouth. (Btw, there’s a 朝日壽司 only two blocks away, so don’t get those confused!)

Meet this little kitten Echo! 

So an ICLP student rescued him from a drain pipe during spring break and asked if anyone was able to give him a home. In the meantime, Camila began to foster him. She named him Echo because he mews so much, and he is honestly the most precious teeny thing alive. 

Camila had to go out of town on Wednesday night, so she asked me to catsit him. And oh my I am so in love with him. He plays with literally anything that he finds: 

Perhaps one of the cutest things of the night was when he snuggled up against me to sleep. 

I definitely need more of this kitten in my life. I love him so so so much. (Sorry Anna don’t be jealous!) 

Farewell 秋秋

So some of you may remember our beetle, Qiuqiu 秋秋. Lemme give you some updates from a few months back: after we gave him a new habitat, he was living his best life. However, the problems with having a box full of moist organic bedding are 1) it starts to stink, and 2) fruit flies start to gather around the box. So every few days, Tien would open the box outside on the little window balcony (where we put our plants) and let it dry a bit. She figured since she’s done this multiple times and Qiuqiu had never left once, this was a great idea. 

I told Tien,  “Uhhh you remember Qiuqiu can fly, right?” 

Well sure enough, a few months ago, he suddenly went missing. We searched through all our pots but couldn’t find him anymore. Tien felt so guilty, but we decided that it was the best thing for him to fly out into the real world and explore. So we lived a Qiuqiu-less life for a few months. 

That is, until Saturday. 

I come home and Tien and Shuming tell me “QIUQIU CAME BACK.” I look down at the napkin they’re holding, and sure enough that’s a big black stag beetle, with the same missing leg. Except, he also had half of his abdomen bitten off and an amputated leg lying next to him. He twitched for one second. And then he was no more. 

We theorize that during his travels, he got eaten by some animal, so he came back to our apartment as his final resting place. So we decided to give him a funeral and bury him in one of his favorite pots (and also accuse Tien of being the original killer):

Farewell Qiuqiu. You were a brave warrior. I hope your adventures were glorious. Rest in peace. 安息.
