A new The Boys series spinoff, The Boys: Mexico, is in the works at Amazon.

Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer (Blue Beetle) is writing the script and executive producing. Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal are set to executive produce and are considering taking on acting roles though neither would be major roles. A search is currently underway for a co-showrunner.

The team behind The Boys: Mexico, which will be shot in the Latin American country, is working on budgets for the new series and they have yet to begin casting. Details regarding the premise are being kept under wraps.

A little about the series spinoff:

"According to Deadline, Blue Beetle scribe Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer is writing The Boys: Mexico, which would follow the animated anthology Diabolical and the live-action, college-set series Gen V. Andor star Diego Luna is reportedly executive-producing the spinoff with Bernal, and the two are said to be considering supporting roles in the show. Variety adds that it's being planned as a Spanish-language project.

Story details are being kept under wraps, but it's safe to say the show will be set in, well, Mexico. Bernal's involvement is particularly enjoyable because he previously starred in the Marvel project Werewolf by Night, and The Boys is a series known for lampooning pop culture and politics, including the Hollywood superhero machine. Dunnet-Alcocer is similarly coming off writing DC's Blue Beetle, and Luna is known for another mega-franchise between Andor and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story."

Even if they don't consider Tenoch, I do want to watch this. Produced by Bernal and Luna, penned by Blue Beetle writer Dunnet-Alcocer, Spanish-language and set in Mexico! It will be good, I know it.

It would be even better if Tenoch is in it, as talented as he is. But we shall see.

Also, I'm quite proud of Gael. His career is eclectic and broad-ranging. I recently watched this interview:

So, this is random, but I just read in the trades (Deadline, Variety, Hwood Reporter) that Amazon is producing a Mexican, Spanish-language spinoff of the very popular, irreverent super hero series The Boys. Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal are in talks to executive produce it. Deal isn't finalized yet.

BUT -- you know what, I will send little prayers up for the next few weeks. PLEASE, Sr. Bernal y Sr. Luna, ¡Hazlo por las chicas! Since they have worked with him and they KNOW how good he is, please let them HIRE my baby! HIRE HIM! He'd be PERFECT. ::cries::

Oh, wow!!! I've always liked how THE BOYS turned the idea of superheroes on it's head. But the themes were a really indictment on politics, corporate greed, and manipulation of the masses. I found it had more depth than I was expecting. Hopefully this will have all original characters since it's being described as a spinoff. 🤞🏽

Yes, anything to get our bae back in front of the camera doing what he does best. But I also hope he takes time to work on projects for his production company. Why can't he be like Samuel L. Jackson and be in every movie that's made. 😂

I'm really hopeful that 2024 will come with a lot more projects for Tenoch. And I do think something is in the works since there is evidence of him working out. 😉
