The world’s first printed book in Hebrew was Rashi’s commentary on the Bible, printed by Abraham ben Gart in Reggio di Calabria, Italy, in 1475.
Unfortunately, very little is known about the personal life of Abraham ben Garton. Most scholars believe he was born in Spain, and emigrated to Southern Italy's Calabria prior to the expulsion of the Jews from Spain in 1492. Many other Spanish Sephardim also emigrated to Calabria following the expulsion.

The 1475 edition Abraham Garton created and employed, for the first time, a typeface based on a Sephardic semicursive hand. It was this same style of typeface that a few years later, when commentary and text were incorporated onto one page, would be used to distinguish Rabbinic commentary from the text proper. Ultimately, this typeface would be known as Rashi script.
View of the Interior of one of the chapels in the Cathedral of Reggio di Calabria—ancient Rhegium. This chapel focuses on the "giving of the law" to Moses. Note the prominent menorah.

god enters holy ground today. starts apologizing with his body—flipping tables; begging his friends not to leave him alone, not even in their sleep; killing himself on a cross. god is bad at apologizing, and maybe he will make up for it in a week. but for now, god takes his shoes off, lets his feet touch the palms. drags himself into holy week on a donkey because even though this god wants the cup to pass him, he knows that prophecy has to matter somehow

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

Posting this as its own post now, because I thought it was a banger, but to me, the thing that always makes me think that the idea that having a Jewish state would make things safer or better for the Jewish people is a really stupid one is that that isn't really true even in our own scripture.
King David was supposed to be the best, most morally good king, the most godly and holy, and he's the one who exercised state power to have one of his own soldiers killed so he could keep fucking the guy's wife.
So. That particular state of Israel, evidently wasn't a very safe place to live in if you either had, or were, a fuckable enough wife.
...God, thinking about this, and now part of me wants to do, like, a Marxist reading criticizing some of the kings of Israel and their uses and abuses of authority and power from a historical materialist perspective. Has somebody done that already? Here, I mean.

Just discovered that Henna is also a jewish(israelite) thing and that the henna plant was in the torah and that it symbolizes forgiveness and absolution. I thought it was an arab thing and mizrahi jewish traditions but no its full jewish tradition and symbol!!
