Hi!!! I love your writing! Could I have a HLVRAI matchup please?
I'm Kess, I'm 18, and I love anything art. I'm 5"6 and mad about not being taller lol. I use he/they pronouns, and my hair is really short and close to my head. I've got lots of freckles and spots, and I always have some sort of bandage on because I pick at my skin :(. I'm generally a pretty cozy dresser, lot of sweatpants and sweaters and oversized shirts. I'm a scorpio, and I'm very loud and passionate. I'm a bit nervous around new people, and I think I come off as rude sometimes on accident. But I really just feel uncomfortable in social situations UNLESS I'm with friends. I tell a lot of weird jokes and know way too much about the ocean (I wanna be a marine biologist). I'm also very into art and drawing, and LOVE games like Resident Evil, Minecraft, and Firewatch. I think I spend like, $500 a year on art supplies or new games. I play DND too, though I'm a terrible dm lol. I can't stand seafood, inconsiderate people, and any material made of foam (bad texture).
Hope that's enough :)
gosh nonnie, i'm terribly sorry for the long wait. hope you're okay and enjoy!
I match you with . . .
Tommy Coolatta!
♡ Now hear me out . . . DND with Tommy? DND with Tommy. And BOY, does he LOVE playing with you. Even if you're not too confident in your dm skills, he's enjoying it anyway because you're there !! Will go to you for character-making advice and whatnot. He's a little confused, but he's got the spirit
♡ Definitely counts your freckles randomly. When he's too busy admiring you, he'll just spout it out, making random observations. Adores all your spots and even your bandages. They make you you! Tries to encourage you to not pick at your skin, but understands habits are hard to stop. Decorates you in colorful and patterned Band-Aids. They're FASHIONABLE
♡ Hands you his sweaters and shirts, and will sometimes steal yours in return. That way, when you get them back, you have something to remind you of him! Tommy finds this incredibly adorable and smiles soooo wide when he spots you wearing his clothes
♡ You're loud and passionate? He's loud and passionate with you, too. Willing to listen to you talk about anything you like, he's just happy to be with you. Hypes you up for anything & everything and he's your biggest fan/supporter. You know those people who bring cardboard cutouts spelling someone's name in like sports games and stuff? Yeah that's him but it spells out "K" "E" "S" "S"
♡ Tommy will absolutely do all of the talking and initiating with you, no need to feel awkward when he's around. Encourages you to improve on your social skills, but he has no issue in doing such things for you. Loves the praise and thank you's he gets in return!
♡ Oooh lord, a marine biologist? Well, you've piqued Tommy's interest. If he wasn't listening before, HE SURE IS NOW. God please tell him everything and anything you can, Tommy thinks you're the fucking coolest person alive.
♡ Insists on painting & drawing with you. Loves your hobbies and loves your art, but he loves joining you too! Tommy will either draw Sunkist or you two together, despite it probably being drawn in crayons.
♡ Minecraft is soo fun with Tommy. You two build the most stupidest, most random things. That is... if you don't let Benrey on there. Tommy has begged Benrey multiple times to not fuck your shit up even though it's nothing too fancy, it means a lot to Tommy.
♡ Loves watching you play games too. Adds so much commentary and funny jokes that you're probably not even focused on the gameplay at this point
♡ Tommy loves you to death and will always be there to do anything you need him to do for you. You've always got a shoulder to cry on and someone to go to for ANYTHING. You're so lucky

Tossing this for the oc ask thingy: 3, 13, 22, 17, and A, F
I'm gonna use multiple ocs again for this ehe
3. How do they put themselves to bed at night (reading, singing, thinking?)
Ryoto: Um. He just... doesn't. The thoughts of himself committing murder and cannibalism and what he could've done differently to save Hayden keep him up, so he tends to just stay awake until he gets too tired and his body forces him to sleep. Cuddling with a friend would help, but the two people he's around most of the time are abusive and unhelpful (Discord and Wrath — shadow children) and he's too shy to ask Taint, Chitters (nome), or anyone else in the group he's with. So he just suffers. Discord bothers him when he's trying to sleep sometimes, too lol
Vincent (TV head Minecraft oc): Vince likes to clear up his cache and old files it no longer needs before and after they sleep. They'll sometimes put music on with the jukebox, though. It also sometimes goes to sleep standing or sitting down or in whatever random position he was in. Also, also, their wolves tend to lie down next to it :3
13. What color do they think they look best in? Do they actually look best in that color?
Caerul Venn (shapeshifter): He prefers to be black, blue, purple, pink, and magenta with white spots, reminiscent of galaxies or nebulas. I'd say he pulls it off really well
22. How does jealousy manifest itself in them (they become possessive, they become aloof, etc)?
Ryoto: He'd probably just stare from a distance, silently, with his mask on
Discord: Discord tends to get kinda clingy and irritated if someone else has had his POI's attention for too long, but he wouldn't say anything about it
Noctis (wyvern): She rarely gets jealous of anyone hanging out with Diebus — they're draconic gods, after all. But when she does, she tends to loom over everyone else and uses her size to intimidate, giving them a mean look
Zephyr (MadCom): they'd probably just track down the guy and kill them when Dakota isn't looking, as long as it isn't someone they know. Overall, they'd be irritated
17. Are they easily embarrassed?
Ryoto: Nope, he's pretty numb
Discord: Definitely. He's always trying to look/be tough, so he hates if it looks otherwise. He's especially self-conscious about his freckles and hides them all the time with a scarf or bandages if he isn't wearing his mask
Cyrus (DbD survivor): Yes. It hurts his pride whenever he trips or fucks up a bit of parkour lmao
A) Why are you excited about this character?
They're all my little guys.... I love rotating them around my brain like a microwave, it's sm fun <3
F) What do you feel when you think of your OC (pride, excitement, frustration, etc)?
Mostly happiness, I guess? All of my ocs spark joy lol

Just give me Fuyuhiko, the baby needs some love.

GUESS WHO'S BACK
BACK AGAIN
Me beech, ayo wassup- :D
I!! Love!! Fuyuhiko!! I saw this in our inbox while I was on break and went "✨SNATCH✨" because I adore him to bits. He's like- my favorite character in the series and I- I simp for him so much- no words can describe how much I love him. I genuinely couldn't wait to write this because I constantly have Fuyuhiko brain rot, so get ready for me to ramble. I have like- a lot of ideas so this may be a bit unorganized or all over the place. This one's for my fellow Fuyuhiko simps!!
A bit of a warning for a curse word or two. This is Fuyu afterall-
Hope you enjoy this, my buttercup!
- 🌺💖Mod Rantaro💖🌺
Fluffy Fuyuhiko HCs!
AYO time for me to simp-
I feel like he's someone who needs time to get used to physical affection, but when he does get used to it, he genuinely craves and adores it.
Because I would imagine he's extremely touch-starved. I mean, his childhood consisted of him almost dying because of his parents' fighting, so I wouldn't think that they were very affectionate or loving towards him or Natsumi.
Like- like sometimes, when he wants cuddles, but you're busy or something, he just clings to you. Doesn't say a word, and if you point it out, he denies it.
"Fuyu, what are you doing?"
"Nothing. I don’t know what you’re talking about."
While you literally can't move because he's holding onto you.
If he was a cat he’d be one of those cats that deliberately sits on your keyboard and doesn’t move until you give him head scratches or something.
I also like to imagine that Fuyuhiko has freckles on his shoulders and arms, maybe a few on his hands.
Why? Freckles are cute damMIT-
And when you're cuddling, you're constantly tracing your fingers over his freckles, like you're trying to count them. Whether it be caressing his face or his shoulders, he just- melts on the spot. It's really sweet to him, even if he'll never admit it.
I also think he’s easy to gross out, but by like... Regularly gross things, I guess?
Like my guy sees a dead body and turns a blind eye but if you blow a spitball at him he’s freaking out over it.
“eW IS THAT A SPITBALL?! HOW FUCKING OLD ARE YOU-”
He has big mom friend energy and nobody can change my mind. I can see Nagito constantly getting paper cuts and Fuyuhiko always having bandages on him because of that.
Or fixing Kaz’s clothes because he always looks disheveled in some way, to the point of Kazuichi not even questioning it anymore after a while.
But he’ll act like he’s annoyed. You know, he’s gotta keep his tough persona. Even if he’s genuinely worried for his dumb friends.
Anyways stan mom friend Fuyu-
Back to the relationship stuff sorry for going off track um-
He always blushes whenever you kiss. Whether it be your first or millionth kiss, he's bright pink.
And at first his kisses were very gentle, mostly because he held himself back a lot. He was afraid he'll hurt you, but with time and reassurance, he became a lot more passionate.
Also sQUISH HIS CHEEKS, PLEASE.
They're so soft and hdbddh🥺💕
*mod rantaro simping noises*
He may try to bat your hands away and get embarrassed, but it's all worth it.
And he? Doesn't hate it?? He actually thinks it's lowkey cute???
But again, mr boss baby over here would never admit it.
I’m sorry but my cat keeps batting my goddamn face with his tail like sIR CAN YOU STOP
If you call him handsome he malfunctions.
Like ok he's used to being called cute and yet barely handles it- you tell him he's handsome and his brain goes "MARRIAGE RN💍🧎🏼‍♂️" because it's just?? So domestic and precious and he just goes soft??? Mans ready to give you a ring, gIVE HIM YOUR FINGIE-
Fuyuhiko honestly hates the fact that he’s actually SO cheesy.
He just wants a warm, loving relationship that will last forever. He wants to get married, grow old with you, maybe have kids if you’re up for it. But if you don’t want human babies, animal babies are fine too!
Speaking of animal babies, cats gravitate towards him for some reason. It’s like he’s a cat magnet. If you ever go to a cat cafe the kitties will just be all over him and completely ignore everyone else.
Me too random cats I put in here, me too
Maybe it’s because he doesn’t smother them or go out of his way to pet them. Who knows-
He really likes to sleep in with you, or just stay in bed all day.
You’re so warm... He just wants to be in your arms.
Please kiss the scar on his eye by the way. He may or may not tear up a little.
Even with you knowing what he’s done in the past, you still adore him, and always will. And he can’t thank you enough for that.
Also, lowkey won't admit he likes being the little spoon. The feeling of being protected and cared for by the one you love most, it's just,,, heaven to him,,
Totally not me just projecting because I wanna hold him um
He buys you a lot of stuff. I would imagine that before you started dating, he would always give you something on Valentine's Day and then brush it off as him "not wanting to hear you complain about not getting anything all day".
If you got him something in return he's extremely flustered, but says something along the lines of ",,, not like I wanted any of this stupid shit from you but ok" while on the inside he's just "GEHDGDJDBDN🥺💕💗💘💝💓💕🥺💗💘"
Don't let his tsundere self fool you, he is literally the definition of whipped.
Tumblr media
*chav accent* AYO LUVS✋😩 Been a while, huh? I'm still not in tippy-top shape but I'm doing... Relatively ok! I'm glad to be back though, I missed you all a bunch!
Make sure to drink some water, take any meds you may need to, and maybe eat some fruit or candy! Lotsa love from me, my buttercup baby! <3

Jersey on my mind (part 35)
”So yeah, consider the mall a no go zone, unless we don’t bring a flamethrower or throw a couple of grenades in there first. It’s infested with walkers.”
Mila gives herself a moment to breathe and adjusts Juri’s position at her aching hip, feeling slightly sore from her falling into the crowd of walkers. Her attempt to conceal a groan of modest pain doesn’t go unnoticed and Juri hugs his little arms tightly around her neck, in an attempt to comfort her, just as she comforts him when he’s hurt.
Juri had had a good day; Carol had fixed him breakfast, lunch and snacks and then found a whole pack of new street crayons for him to play with. He’d kept himself busy the whole afternoon drawing. When he saw Mila and Daryl walk down the street, after returning from their eventful day out, he dropped the crayons and scurried up to them as fast as his short legs could carry him and threw himself into Mila’s arms.
”Moya lyubov.” Mila exclaimed joyously and dug her nose into his hair. An immediate sensation of calm wrapped around her motherly heart when she felt him close and could inhale the scent of the soft skin in his neck. Was it even possible to be that soft? ”Moy malenkiy malchik.” She cooed. “My little boy.”
Juri pulled away and looked her in the eyes, let his crayon stained fingers run over her face, over her ears into her hair. He squished his nose towards hers and mimed ‘missed you’. Then he turned his small sunny face to Daryl, reached out his hand to invite him into the ‘welcome back’-hugging committee.
“Hey kiddo.”
Slightly awkwardly Daryl took Juri’s small hand into his big, dirty, and squeezed it, on which Juri placed his entire weight on Daryl’s big arm, giggling happily as Daryl lifted him from the ground. With a cheeky smile Juri clung like a little monkey to his forearm before he reached for Mila again.
With Juri clasping her neck like a boa constrictor, Mila got up from the ground, with an internal cry of distress; there and then, when the adrenaline rush subsided, she began to feel the effects of the drop throughout her body. She felt sore, but bull-headed as she was, she refused to admit it out loudly. Over her dead body! She had to deal with the self-inspection later, inspecting the outcome of their expedition in solitude, locked inside the bathroom while taking an invigorating shower.
While Juri smoldered her with affection, pointing out his crayon drawings of a blue smiling sun with freckles, his stuffed animals sunbathing and a couple of random shapes, apparently symbolizing different sorts of cars, Rick and Michonne came out of the house. From over the construction site of the wall, Aaron came running as well and joined them around Juri’s joyful street art. Daryl began to tell about the scouting, the unknown group of men who looted the gun shop and the mall, now infested with walkers. Every now and then while they were talking, Juri placed small light kisses on Mila’s neck, and when they came to the part, told in an as easy way as possible, where Daryl dropped her an entire floor into a hoard of walkers, Juri squeezed her neck to the point of where she thought he would hug her to unconsciousness.
“The looters who plundered the arms deal is probably a bigger problem.” She continues and looks at Daryl, who nods. Juri begins to twist and turn in her arm and Mila puts him down on the ground. “You never know.”
Rick sighs, puts his hands on his tight hips and puts weight on his right leg; proper displeased sheriff style.
“What do you think?” He looks at Daryl.
“Given the amount of ammunition-” Daryl raises his eyebrows slightly. “One doesn’t need that much ammunition unless there’s a threat. Or if they’re the threat.”
Mila grins a little at his words, literally borrowed from herself as they sat hiding in the bushes earlier.
“Okay-” Rick’s eyes wander around the gathered group as he contemplates Daryl’s words. “Gotta stay watchful from now on. If there’s another group out there, heavily armed, we’d better lie low.” The voice is calm but his eyes express something else. “We put out extra guards.” He turns his gaze downwards to Mila who has squatted down on the ground next to Juri. He has returned to his chubby street crayons and is in full action to draw a happy tree with red apples. “You sure you’re alright?”
“Yeah, yeah.”
“Go to see Denise, just in case.” It’s not an order, but he says it firmly.
“I’m fine.” Mila emphasises and gets up. “Bit bruised, but I’ll be okay.”
“You’re bleedin’.” The sheriff nods and Mila looks down at her hand, that’s stained with blood. Her hand seems fine but her elbow does actually feel a bit sore. Rick smiles faintly at her and Daryl. “Make sure to patch that up.”
Then he turns and walks, with swaying cop-hips, towards the construction site at the wall.
“Good to have ya’ back.” Aaron smiles at them, then turns around and scurries after Rick.
Mila looks at Juri, completely rapt in his crayons and has forgotten that she’s even there; she’ll have to show him the things she got for him later. She then shifts her gaze to Daryl, who gives her a searching look.
“What?”
”Come on, ya’ need to be patched up.” He says.
”It’s a flesh wound.” Mila replies snappy.
”Those can get pretty nasty.” Michonne shrugs with an amused grin. “You heard the sheriff.”
“Thought you were the sheriff in your relationship?” Mila replies surly.
“Well then you should really listen to my advice.” The athletic woman in front of her winks at her. “Two against one, Jersey. Three, if Dixon’s on our side.”
“Bozhe moy, since when did you two turn all mother hen on me?” Mila rolls her eyes at her fierce friend and her beloved, broody archer. Then her eyes wander to the crossed swords sticking out from behind Michonne’s back. “Going somewhere?”
“A run.” Michonne shakes her head with a smile. “You’re not invited.”
“Fine, I didn't even want to go.”
“Sure.” Michonne gives her a soft, loving pat on the shoulder before starting to walk toward the gate. “Take care of her, Dixon.” She calls over her shoulder before turning round the corner.
Mila rolls her eyes and sighs. She’s fine!
“Hey, you're back!”
From the direction of the small hospital building, Glenn and Maggie come walking towards them, hand in hand, looking very much newly in love.
“How’d it go?” Maggie asks when they’re gathered around Juri’s drawings. “Looks like ya’ been stuck a dryer.”
As quickly and undramatically as possible, Mila recounts what happened during the run once again. But when Maggie and Glenn also say that she really should look over her arm, just in case, she sighs.
“You can’t be serious?” She laughs. “Once again, for the hundredth time, I’m fine.”
From his spot on the ground Juri nods in agreement; with a clever look he signs to her that he always must be examined after he’s fallen, so why should she not do the same? She smiles in response, but inside her head Mila curses herself for having brought up such a smart little person, too smart sometimes and absolutely way more clever than herself at that age. Who the heck was that guy she had a one night stand with, Einstein? However, that decides the matter.
“We’ll keep him company.” Maggie smiles and squats next to Juri. “Right?”
Juri nods with a grin and Glenn sits down at his other side, picks up a crayon and asks for instructions for what he should draw. Juri, excited by all the attention he’ll be smoldered with, waves at Mila to ‘go away, mommy’. Right now he wants to be at peace with his babysitters and draw.
“Hear ya’ kiddo.” Daryl winks at Juri and steers Mila towards the porch, up the stairs and into the house.
The downstairs is empty and quiet, everyone’s out doing their thing. He leads her on, up the stairs and into the bedroom, where Mila sits down onto the bed and Daryl starts to look for something to patch her up with.
“There’s bandaids and stuff in the cabinet.” Mila calls when he starts to rummage around in the bathroom. “Top shelf.”
She stretches out her arm a little and feels a stinging, aching sensation shoot out of  her usually fine elbow. She managed to hit every goddamn nerve it feels like, but at least it doesn’t seem to be broken. Daryl returns with a towel and the first aid kit box, filled with bandages, plasters, scissors and tape and sits down in front of Mila, in the chair she uses as an extra wardrobe.
”Get that off.” Daryl nods at her leather jacket.
Once again Mila sighs, but does as she’s told; she swears as she pulls her arm out of the jacket, exposing a laceration on her elbow. The skin is cracked and the dried blood has stuck towards the satin lining of the jacket.
“Gotta clean that up.” Daryl looks around the box. “Some alcohol or somethin’-”
“Under the bed.” Mila says and scratches her nose. “There’s a bottle in there somewhere.”
Daryl leans forward, his head touches her knees as he puts his hand under the bed. When he sits up again he’s got a bottle of vodka in his hand. It ain’t the first time she has cleaned bruises and wounds with booze, especially vodka; might be an illusion but it somehow feels like they heal faster after a lavish splash of Russian Standard.
”I’m fine.” Mila repeats with emphasis, as Daryl places the towel on his knee and shakes the liquor bottle. “Really.”
”Bite the bullet.” Daryl removes the lid from the bottle. “It’s gonna sting.” He grabs her arm, turns it upwards over the towel and pours the clear liquid over her cracked elbow. Mila flinches and twitches, swears as nasty as she possibly can in both Russian and English. ”Quit squirmin’!” reluctantly Mila quits squirm, jibbers in Russian as reply. ”Well ya don’t want it infected do ya?” Daryl says, almost commanding. ”Hold still, christ.”
Mila lifts her eyebrows. Woha, did he actually order her something? It might be the adrenaline rush, or the fact that they didn’t finish what they started earlier at that chair in the store, but it’s kinda rousing.
“Fine.” She mutters.
“Sorry.” Daryl murmurs. “Ya’ flunder about like a fish on dry land.”
“No offense taken.” Mila says, listening with half an ear, while feeling her body temperature increase and her breasts tingles pleasantly. Despite the injured elbow she definitely has to end what they started, pronto, or she might explode!   “Sorry too ‘bout before.” He says. “Droppin’ ya-”
“That wasn’t your fault.” Mila interrupts. “Just- don’t. It’s fine. I’m fine.”
The fact that he’s so terribly caring doesn’t calm her arousement for a second. Daryl wipes the wound with a piece of bandage, then tosses it on the floor before he starts to wrap her elbow tightly with the rest of the bandage.
”There. As new.” He throws the towel into the bathroom. “It ain’t broken at least.”
”Ten points in nursing.” Mila looks at the bandaging and the corners of Daryl’s mouth turns upwards slightly, in a so called smile.
He stands up, ready to put away the first aid kit, but he pauses when he meets Mila’s eyes.
“What?”
”How long we got before they’ll look for us?” Light as a feather, Mila lets her fingers caress the crotch of his pants. ”Glenn and Maggie-”' Judging by the impressive effect her light touch has, she comes to the conclusion that he didn’t feel completely done over at the mall either. She bites her lower lip, smiles. ”You heard what they said. Take good care of me.”
He groans faintly, but doesn’t seem entirely sure about her suggestion, throwing glances towards the window before seemingly making his mind up. Softly he shuts the bedroom door, before shifting all his attention at her. He drops the first aid kit on the bedside table, then digs his hand into her tousled hair, bends down and gently, hesitating, presses his tongue into her mouth. Mila can’t evade to let out a moan as she feels his twirling tongue softly exploring hers and pulls him closer. Without breaking the kiss Daryl puts a strong arm around her waist, lifts her from the bed and sinks down on it himself. Gently he backs her up towards the bed frame, continues to explore her body with his free hand as she starts unbuttoning his shirt.
“What about that dress?” He groans.
”You really think we have time for that now?” Mila pants with a smile through their frantic kissing, wishing more than anything that they’d had at least an hour for themselves.
“Shh.” Daryl says husky through their kissing. “We’re wastin’ time.”
If he says so. Mila breaks the kiss by the time she’s done with the worn shirt buttons and rips the dark fabric apart, while Daryl lifts her t-shirt and bra over her head, exposing her breasts. His lips travel down to her neck and they once again fall down onto the bed. As their bodies collide she feels his erection banging through the pants for attention. They start a frenzy undressing process, ripping clothes from each other while unbuttoning and unzipping pants. Cargos and jeans are thrown on the floor as well as a pair of lace underwear. Despite being horny to the point of not feeling anything else than that, Mila still notices, when she lies there all naked, that she’s more bruised than she thought. She was maybe lucky after all.
”That’s five.” While placing his hand between her legs, Daryl starts to fondle her, biting her lower lip.
”Thought you didn’t keep time.” Mila teases and lets out a moan when the touch of his hand sends shivers from the tip of her toes to the top of her head.
He pauses, holds himself up with the elbow and looks at her as he nudges his knee in-between her legs. Mila eagerly pulls him towards her, expresses with all of her being that she needs him now, badly. He adjusts himself and smoothly enters her body. With a moan, Mila closes her eyes and bends her head backward to the headboard as he reaches her core. She lifts her leg, wraps it around him, allowing him to reach even deeper as she pushes him closer.
“Oh shi- yes!” She exhales in something between a moan and an ecstatic laugh.
Daryl digs his feet down the soft bedspread and continues, deep and determined, to move his hips, thrusting into her; his eyes are fixated at hers, hazy with pleasure, growing more desperate for each second it seems. He puts his hand on her left shoulder, uses it as a leverage to get even deeper.
”Oh my god” Mila gasps and stretches her neck backwards while fumbling with her right hand, doesn’t know what to hold on to, until she grabs a hold of the sheet. ”Oh shit!”
This is way better than doin’ it on a lousy chair in an abandoned, almost pitch black mall, she manages to think in between the thrusts that make her eyes roll back in her head with pleasure. With a firm grip round her thigh, not decreasing the pace, Daryl lowers his head, rests his forehead against hers.
“I love ya’” He pants husky in a low voice. “I fuckin’ love ya’”.
The impact of words; She feels a rush of delight flow throughout her entire body, her pussy contracts and she closes her eyes, clings to the sheets to the point of her knuckles turning white as she reaches the peak. He releases himself into her with a loud groan before burying his face into her neck with a last deep thrust.
”Shhh-” Mila hushes, very vaguely and not very convincing; her voice being slightly louder than a whisper and it breaks as Daryl pushes his hips into her again, really cementing himself into her core.
Daryl gets up on his elbows and looks down at her, the long brown bangs wet with sweat.
”Ya’ think you’re the one to hush?” He pants and swallows.
Before Mila answers, they both turn their heads to the left, as the door knob rattles and is turned. The door opens and Glenn’s face turns from its usually relaxed state to pale as the bed sheet and his eyes widens to double their size.
“What the-” Glenn’s pale face turns red in merely a second. He swears and throws up his hands in front of his face. “Fuck- shit-”
“What the heck’s wrong with ya!” Daryl barks, somewhat pantingly, at Glenn, while Mila covers herself as best as she can, unable to utter a word. “The fuc- get outta here!” He scoffs and waves his arm at Glenn who almost falls backwards as he stumbles out in the corridor again, while searching for the door handle with closed eyes. “Fuckin’ hell!”
The door slams shut and Mila feels a burst of hysterical laughter build up inside her body, but she does her best not to start laughing; Daryl looks anything but amused.
“I didn’t see shit, man! I swear!” Glenn calls through the shut door.
“Don’t ya’ fuckin’ knock before opening doors!?” Daryl once again barks, angry to the point of him almost shivering. He doesn’t know what to do with himself. “Son of a-”
“Yes- no, I mean yes!”
“Well why the fuck didn’t ya do it ya moron?!”
“I- I…” Glenn clears his throat. “Sorry, man. I’m sorry.”
“Yeah ya’ better be-”
“We- eh, we’ll set up for dinner over at the wall.” Glenn continues, in an attempt to sound just as usual, only slightly more high pitched. It doesn’t really work. “Some of the others have started to prepare soup...”
Daryl’s about to climb out of bed and, in all his naked sweaty glory, rip the door open and ask Glenn to beat it. But Mila digs her fingers into his strong, tensed arms and prevents him from going anywhere.
“That sounds- great! Great.” She hollers towards the door, in an attempt to ease the strained situation. “We’re on our way.”
“Ouch! Ya’ have bony sharp fingers.” Daryl exclaims, while hasty walking footsteps on the other side of the door, tattles that Glenn has fled the field, downstairs. “Great!” Daryl sighs. “Just fuckin’ great.”
“I think we did pretty good, loverboy.” Mila grins. “If you’ll excuse, I and the rest of that bottle of vodka have to take a shower.”

An array of blues, blacks and purples blossomed in soft petals over my knuckles. The ice I had put on it last night didn’t do much in subduing the swell of my inflamed skin. It was cracked and caked in dried blood that had scabbed over during the night. My wince is obvious as I try to move my predominant hand.
There’s a knock on the door and I know it’s Newt come to get me. He had texted me that he was on his way. I call to him that it’s unlocked as I stand in the kitchen, bottle of peroxide in hand. There’s the sound of the door closing behind him and he walks over to me just as I pour the clear liquid over my skin.
My teeth grit, air being sucked through the spaces in between as I endure the sting of the antiseptic. White, frothy bubbles hiss as it kisses away the dirt and softens the buildup of red that had layered over the cuts.
“Do you need help?” I hear him ask as I fumble with the roll of gauze, struggling to untangle it from it’s sphere.
Huffing with a smile, I give in, “Please.” My eyes catch a glimpse of his fleeting smile before landing on his own matching blue, black scab decorating his high cheekbone. “Though, I should be asking the same with you.”
His digits grasp me softly and he gently wraps the gauze securely over my offended flesh. I try to quell the hisses of pain that threaten to spill from my lips, though I’m not doing very well since Newt’s eyes are clouded with quiet apologies. “I’m okay. Just a little sore, that is.”
“Can I at least put a band-aid on you? It’d make me feel better.” He regards me carefully, watching me in his debate. “No princess or colorful ones, I swear!” This makes the corner of his mouth tilt up and I know I’ve won.
I’m cautious of his handiwork as I rummage through the first aid kit and pull out antibiotic cream alongside a plain bandage. He raises a brow at me but ultimately doesn’t say anything. I suppose he’s choosing his battles wisely.
The dollop of thick ointment feels heavy as I swipe it over his cut, smearing it gently as I go. He, unlike me, doesn’t even flinch at the contact. Even so, I try to glide my fingers just on the surface of his skin. He’s so close to me, I can feel the puff of his breath of my cupids bow. His eyes watch me, the caramel flecks shining in the rays peaking through the window.
The whole ordeal becomes too overwhelming too soon. I quickly place the wanna-be-skin-toned bandage over his cheek and back away to admire my work. “Perfect.” I mumble to myself.
Newt chuckles, shaking his head to hide it. “Are you ready to go?” My hands fist at my pants in an attempt to dry the clamminess that has started to overtake my palms. I nod once. I grab my things before following him out to his vehicle.
The world seems less menacing in the daylight and Newt appears more boyish than he did last night. Earth mixed with the cool breeze fills my nostrils. It almost makes me forget the throbbing that’s radiating up to my wrist.
Last night feels like such a long time ago. My dreams were infected with the weight of what happened and my awakenings ached with fresh reminders. The entire event was on a diced-up replay behind my lids. It was hard to get much sleep despite the utter exhaustion that hung like a heavy fur coat over my being.
Seeing Newt and having him here beside me brings a settling peacefulness. Perhaps it’s the innocent freckles that are sprinkled over his nose or the warmth that pools in his brown eyes but I feel safe with him. There’s a trust that’s draped over my image of him and I suppose that’s why I find myself being most friendly despite not being well acquainted.
Music plays low in his speakers as we drive. The melodic sound gets swept away and carried out into the waiting world through the rolled down windows. The wind lashes my unruly locks around my face and I smile at the comfort of familiarity. With so much change happening in my life, it’s good to sometimes relish in the everyday things.
I catch Newt glancing at me. His golden brown hair is tousled and his face is rid of the harsh lines of worry he had been wearing on our last encounter. In this setting, he almost looks beautiful. In all the boyish charm and sharp handsome, he somehow struck me as a kind of anomaly. It intrigued me.
“What are you thinking about?” He finally asks. There’s a tone in his voice that makes me believe that he’s genuinely curious. He’s not trying to break the silence or cut through any awkward tension, he simply wants to know.
I’m not nearly brave enough to try and explain my thoughts about him. I wrestle with a way to reword my thinking into simple terms that won’t seem peculiar. “I’m thinking about how nice this is. Just driving. Feeling the sun on my face. It’s relaxing.” It’s also true.
“I’m glad.” That’s all he says. I might feel a bit disappointed if I didn’t notice his posture change and the way his thumbs drum against the steering wheel in time with the song.
Having company on the way back into the city took away that sharp edge of nerves that sliced at the insides of my stomach. Even when my car came into view, I felt reassured that someone was there to help me. I was grateful that that someone was Newt.
It took him no time to jump my car and get it started. It squealed in delight and roared to life, breathing in the energy radiating through it with a gravelly purr. We didn’t linger for too long and I found myself slumping at the relief of it. I can’t be positive but I’m sure Newt was being considerate of my feelings, now stained, of this area of the city.
Newt invited me over to his place to hang out, which I accepted with the knowledge that Brenda was going to be there. I followed his vehicle as it weaved through traffic on the cracked, worn down road. My hand ached as it firmly held the steering wheel, my fingers felt stiff and tight.
The farther we got from the city, the more my body sagged from the tension leaving it. I hummed along to whatever popular bop was playing on a random station and let the passing wind carry my worries away. At least for a bit.
His apartment was also located in Glade, maybe a ten minute drive from my place. Brenda had mentioned last night that he was roommates with another one of her friends. I figured it was probably as good of a time as ever to make more connections in this area.
I wasn’t particularly nervous. But there was a constant thread being pulled at in my mind; be yourself but make a good impression- make a good impression. I tried to heed it’s advice while trying to remain calm. Even if everything went to rubbish, I would have Brenda to fall back on. And Newt.
The flat was similar to mine, though in a bit of a better condition. Newt fell into step beside me as we walked over. “Are you okay?”
“Why wouldn’t I be?”
His shoulders bunch up in a non-committal gesture but he doesn’t elaborate. There’s murmurs and laughter emitting from behind the door. It, despite my best efforts, makes my heart rate spike just a bit faster.
Okay, maybe I am just a bit nervous.
Newt gives me a sideways glance before pushing his way through into the living room. There’s a jumble of greetings from the small group scattered through the place. Brenda hops up from the couch to pull me further inside with an arm linked through mine.
“I’m so glad you’re here! I want you to meet everyone!” Her smile is contagious and I let her drag me into the kitchen. “Thomas! This is my friend Y/n!” Brenda introduces us.
“It’s nice to meet you, Y/n. Brenda has told me about you! Welcome to Glade.” Another person walks into the small kitchen and I’m introduced to him as well. Minho is his name.
“Did you guys see the shiner that Newt’s sporting?” Minho inquires with amusement in his voice. Though he’s being playful, - and probably doesn’t know about what happened- it feels like a bucket of ice water was dumped over me.
Brenda looks at me worriedly but my eyes are already scanning for Newt. I find him talking to a girl in the living room. Even with the band-aid, the mark demands attention and it’s getting just so. There’s a pang of, what I can only assume is, guilt as I watch him converse.
His eyes catch mine and his brows furrow. Looking away, I try to shake my emotions off. Minho and Thomas are engaging in a lighthearted argument as Brenda steers me away. Before we get too far, Thomas sends me an apologetic look.
“Thomas is Newt’s roommate,” Brenda explains as we step outside the back door. “He knows about last night. Minho and Teresa don’t know what happened- Minho didn’t mean anything by what he said.”
“I know. I’m not... offended. I just still feel a bit off, that’s all.” It finally dawns on me as to why Newt asked if I were okay earlier. Truthfully, I’m not entirely sure what I am right now. “I just want to go back in there and try to enjoy myself.”
Brenda looks weary but doesn’t try to change my mind. “You have me by your side. And don’t worry about Minho- He’s always getting himself into trouble without knowing it.” I force a half smile at her.
Just before we step back into the company of others, the girl - Teresa - marches out the door to meet us. We’re quickly introduced before we start a light conversation between the three of us.
My mind is barely registering anything that’s being said and I pray that my responses don’t indicate how scatter-brained I currently am. I can see the kitchen from this angle and spot the three guys talking inside. The hair on the back of my neck rises as it feels Newt trying to catch my gaze. I avoid him as best as I can but not before seeing his lips pull into a thin, tight line.
I don’t know exactly why I choose this behavior. Somewhere, deep inside, I suppose I don’t want his reassurance or questioning expression. I don’t want Newt, or Brenda for that matter, to become a crutch. Yet, I feel so small in this moment and my mind spins me dizzy.
All the relief that I had previously felt while sitting next to Newt in the car has disappeared. My comfort has been swept away with the wind and I no longer feel the ease that had been smoothing over my face earlier.
There’s a fog settled over me and I know it’s doing me no good to persevere at this rate. “I’m not feeling too good. I think I should head on home. It was a pleasure meeting you, Teresa.” I intervene into whatever context I wasn’t apart of.
Teresa nods in understanding, bidding me a safe drive home. “Do you want me to go with you?” Brenda asks, following me just out of range for anyone else to hear. But I shake my head before reassuring her with a promise to text her later.
I throw my goodbye into the general direction of the boys in hopes to make a swift exit. It doesn’t work. “You’re leaving so soon?” Minho asks with a blue solo cup angled at me.
Again, my lips spew my excuses and apologies. Newt eyes me, almost as if conducting a silent conversation; What’s wrong?
Nothing, my eyes seem to exasperatedly sigh at him. Though the lie must be as obvious as it tastes. I don’t understand why- I don’t owe any explanation to Newt or anyone else.
He quirks a brow at me, the harsh lines returning to his once boyish features. You can’t expect me to believe that. His arms cross over his chest.
My eyes harden- No. That’s what I expect you to accept from me. Believe what you want. My mood instantly sours and I hate the feelings that have overtaken.
Newt’s arms fall to his sides and his eyes soften. I can’t bear the way he’s looking at me any longer. Thomas and Minho express their ‘get better’s’ weaved in with their eyes. I tuck a tight-lipped smile into the envelope sealing my first impressions and steer my way out of there.
I half expect Newt to follow me out, but I plop into the comfort of my car with no shadow attached. The silence is deafening and I welcome it, even focus on it. I know this is just a reprieve to the chaos my thoughts will bring later on.
Huffing loudly, I start my car and drive my way back home.
****
Sweat coats in a thin layer on my flesh. The bed sheets are rumpled and tugged from their corners. I thrash at the dreams that convulse my body, panicked groans escaping my parted lips.
My body jerks up in a demented angle, startling at the shattering plunge into consciousness. Cold sweat beads atop my skin, weeping down my curves and dividing between the ravine of crevices. It leaves a sickly film behind and my clothes cling to it. There’s the pounding of blood in my ears and I can not register anything other than my shallow breaths.
In the soft glow of the room, the bright green of the digital clock draws my attention to the time; 5AM. I gulp down air but it feels rough against my sandpaper tongue- smothering me. Rolling from the mattress, I steer myself into the kitchen. Even when I eventually manage to get cold water to slip down my throat, it feels thick and has the consistency of sludge in my mouth. It coats my esophagus in a slimy slick.
My dream has vanished. A mixture of memory with magnified horrors of make-believe. I can’t even really recall the details of the phenomenon, just the terror that gripped me with it’s icy claws.
I slip my phone from where it’s plugged in and slide open a message tab to Brenda: Are you awake?
Fifteen minutes pass with no response. She must still be asleep. And how could I blame her? It’s an ungodly hour to be awake for any reason. Yet, I know that I won’t be able to lay back down to get anymore shut eye.
There’s this need that’s scratching me from the inside. It feels like glass brushing up against my inner walls. It’s a need to talk, to be listened to more than just heard. To be understood,-  but mostly - to understand.
It’s been almost a week since the party at Newt’s and Thomas’s. Almost a week since I turned away Newt’s attempt to help. I haven’t seen or spoken to him since. And it’s nagged at me.
Sure, I’ve gone to work and gone out to hang with Brenda- but it was always tugging at me in the bouts of silence that leaked between all of that. It wasn’t anything I could explain further than the fact that he was there that night. Newt holds that experience with me and it feels as if he would be able to partially understand the toll it has taken on me.
I slide over to his name in my phone. Before I can talk myself out of it, I type out my message and hit send. Hey, Newt. Are you awake?
There’s an electricity thrumming through my veins as I lean against the cool surface of my kitchen sink. The dark diminishes as the sun rises, claiming it’s vibrancy from the monochrome night.
The buzz is muffled by my palm. I check my lit-up screen to see Newt’s name beside a new message. Are you alright?
Am I alright? I wasn’t sure but I wasn’t in any danger. Texts can so often be misconstrued and I that’s the last thing I need right now. Yeah... I can’t sleep. I was wondering if you wanted to talk?
I almost expected him to brush me off, to tuck his phone back into it’s resting nook and not give me another thought. I wouldn’t have blamed him after my childish behavior at the party the other day.
Everyday brings a new lesson for me to learn. True. But that doesn’t mean that I still don’t get crushed underneath the pressures of my life. I know I could have handled all of this better but I’m still learning. I swear I’m trying.
My disappointment has slipped into my throat, lodged in a great heap that has me swallowing thickly. The hand cradling my phone falls limp at my side just as the device begins to bellow it’s tone.
I jump and drop the ringing cell that’s crying loudly through the once quiet room. My hands skitter across the linoleum floor and I thumb the green answer button as I scoop it to my ear. “Hello?”
It’s Newt.
And just like before, he’s a beacon of peace and comfort in the rapids of my chaos. As a loose a greeting in the early morning light, I find my heart flutters for an entirely different reason than before.
****
Two hours.
Newt listened and spoke and related and laughed with me. He was patient and he was caring. The more I learned about him the less I felt alone. We weren’t the same and our destinies weren’t connected through some phenomenon. We were just two people who were able to find a friend in one another. A confidant.
We didn’t have crazy similar backgrounds or stories, but we had both learned life lessons. We have both become empathetic as our own paths were etched. I think that’s what I appreciated the most about Newt. He didn’t know how to pick me up, he just wanted to.
It wasn’t until Brenda knocked on my door that we were whisked back into the present. Newt had to get ready for work. “Okay- Thanks for being here for me, Newt. I appreciate it.” Brenda waltzes past me as I’m holding the front door open and I can smell that she’s packed breakfast.
“It was my pleasure. I enjoy getting to know you better.” I try to repress my smile with the knowledge that Brenda has a hawk-like gaze trained on me. “Listen, Y/n- Would you like to go out for dinner tomorrow? My treat.” He tacked the last line sloppily on the end, as if I needed to be convinced.
“Yeah. Yeah, I’d like that a lot.”
A shiver kisses my skin as I hear the smile in his voice. “Good that. I’ll talk to you soon.” I suck my lip between my teeth while hanging up. Brenda has an eyebrow arched at me so high that it almost gets lost in her hairline.
“What?”
She shakes her head. “Oh nothing....” She claims but starts humming the kissing song underneath her breath. I throw an oven mitt at her as I feel my face flush crimson. “C’mon! You’re totally smitten with him. It’s obvious.”
“Am not,” I counter but the words feel forced. After a pause, I ask, “Is it seriously that obvious?” Brenda nods sympathetically and I groan. The embarrassment makes me feel like a kid again.
It’s been so long since I had last had a crush. I don’t know what to do or how to act. There is no rule book for me to review or any way that I can go about this ‘the right way’. That alone keeps me on my toes.
“Don’t stress, Y/n. He likes you, too.”
I think she’s trying to help but it has the opposite effect. If he likes me now with barely any knowledge of me, it will make it worse if those feelings dissipate with time. What will I do then if the real me is rejected? I’m not sure. I hate being unsure.
But I don’t voice these concerns. Instead, I smile at her. “Thank you. You’re the best.” Because she is and she deserves to know. Brenda grins brightly as she hands me breakfast. “So... Would you be up to helping me pick an outfit out for my dinner with Newt?”
She looks over the moon as she replies, “Yes. Yes, I would.”
****
The next evening came in a blur of nervous jitters and excited chatter. I didn’t know what to expect when it came to something like this. Especially with Newt. Brenda and I talked a bit about how I had acted at the party. Though I had reasons to feel out of control, we both agreed I should have handled the situation better. She emphasized on open communication.
“What if my thoughts don’t make sense,” I had asked, “And it leaves me feeling foolish?”
She seemed thoughtful as she replied, “You felt foolish after keeping them in, too. At least when you voice your worries, there is someone to redirect your feelings.”
So that’s what I’m going to be working on a lot more. Being on my own has taught me that being an ‘adult’ isn’t about knowing everything and being this super confident being. It’s about learning and picking yourself up with your head held high. We’re all struggling in some way and that’s just life.
I sat on the couch thinking about this while waiting for Newt. My mascara dipped eyelashes fluttered against rosy cheeks, eyes directed in a downcast as I continue to get lost in thought.
It isn’t until the bright flash of headlights cut across my window that I swim my way out of the reverie I was in. There’s the distinct sound of a car door shutting and I quickly do a once-over to straighten myself before answering the knocking.
Newt looks sheepish but sharply handsome as he leans against the frame in a button-up shirt with the sleeves rolled to the elbow and dark jeans hugging his hips. He’s breathtaking. “Wow.” That one word has me viewing my own casual-sleek attire with nervousness. But he doesn’t even let me be critical, “You look amazing.”
My lips curl into a blooming smile, “I suppose you don’t look too bad yourself.” Teasing him is my best form of flattery and my chest grows tight at the amused smirk he bestows upon me.
Locking the door behind me, we swiftly enter the car with excited quiet settled between us. There’s a chemistry that sparks in the atmosphere and it makes me acutely aware of how close he is. It makes me wonder if he notices or feels it, too.
Our eyes keep locking with each other and we both laugh nervously. I’ve never felt this way around someone. These conflicting emotions of calm and jittery are making me feel light headed in the best way. Pondering what Brenda and I spoke about, I decide to tell Newt how I’m feeling.
“I’ve never done this before. I’m not sure how to act.” Newt glances over to me before returning his eyes to the road. “What I mean is- I’m excited and nervous. I hope that my emotions are conveying correctly.”
His lips pull up, “You’re doing a fine job.  And if it helps, I’m excited and nervous, too.” There’s a sparkle in his eye as he smiles at me. It’s everything I didn’t realize I needed to hear. Newt refocuses on the road and my emotions start to focus in on one. Excitement.
As we pull up to the restaurant, one word pops into my head; Safe. With Newt I feel excited and safe. He makes quick work of parking the car before jumping out to open my door. And as I slide my hand into his, I know that there isn’t anywhere else I would rather be.

A/N: I’m sorry this took so long! I was having a tough time sorting out my thoughts and emotions so I kind of let them leak through into the story...sorry? Haha. Thank you for hanging in there with me! I know this isn’t the most exciting story but I hope you like it. - Ellie-Mae xx

New/revised/whatever- List of stuff
Egos (Marks/Jacks) that I have written for or at least actually have thought about HCS/other universes for:  (Just some brief rambles about them, please don't hesitate to ask about them :3)
-Anti,   Two takes really, I like him soft, like him mean, hes just fun to write, plenty of different ways to spin why he acts out, what he is and all that. My current fav way to portray him is a missing piece of Seans soul, which means hes unstable as a ‘person’ (cough, not really a human but not, not human either.)  And how he has static filled blue eyes but usually hides them with the scary emerald green...
-Jameson,  I will always stand by this kinda universe i created with a friend aages ao that Shawn took away Jamesons voice when being puppeteered by an awful ink creature that shares his body.  Giving Jameson a lovely fear of knives, some scars, and some very damaged vocals..
-Crank, Oh my fucking boi, a near dead human spliced with a bunch of robot parts..human skin tangled with wires and a heart incased in metal..hes a right mess, a voice in his head that makes him feel all sorts of bad.. He tries his best..he cries oil,  I hardly get to write  him but I love him.
-Blank, another big fav oi, black hollow eyes..a tendency to faint... My Hc involves him having been in an accident that almost killed him, leaving him with a very rare heart condition. He also has an aura which..kinda ties into him having a few abilities and stuff.
-Nes.. He started off as my own kinda Ethan ego, basically Ethan who was mistreated and really lost his marbles..hes great for the real twisted messed up kinda stuff, so dependant on others, a minor murderer, and has been eyed off by a certain ice cream driver for quite some time...
-Were eth,  Okay granted this was literally just kinda an idea that..Eth became a were wolf boi, fangs, tail, ears. Hes just a fun lil pupper
-Eden. Succubus Ethan basically, but well, he again kinda turned into his own thing separate from Ethan. He's got a tail and wings, and hes a lovely lithe thing. He doesnt dare do things without consent, just gets a bit touchy-feely when hes gone without any energy for too long. Very wide stunning saphire eyes.
- Jackie  Oh my lad..Buff, trans, adorable, sweet. I always love tinkering around with how/what powers he has tbh..and like- I’ve always had the hc that his eyes are lilac?? or gold. Depending on things.. and he works either at a comic book store, a gym, or at the counter of a gas station. Gives the best hugs. Also I love AUS where hes a phoniex because of uhm?? Big fucking red wings??? YES.
-Hen, Getting his accent right is tough but other than that I love writing about the tired doctor living off coffee and ignoring himself in favor of others.
-Chase The fucking best dad, sunshine lad. Running a vlogging channel and doing his best while combatting depression..I hc him to have chronic fatigue so he has to push himself extra hard. but He does well in trying to get better and look after himself and only slips up like any other helpless human. Very fun to write.
- Robbie.   Sof.t zombie lad. Drown in a sweater. Stutters and is v quiet. Slow with speech. Struggles to see sometimes. Loves soft textures.Loves attention. Overall soft fucking lad.
-KOTS, To mean known as Simon. Actually v smart, big brain, very scattered n shy and nervous and squirrelish. Loves books n plants, loves nature. Red is his best colour. Warm sweaters and nuzzling and cuddling up. I always get torn between him being a hybrid of human/squirrel or just a lovely soft guy.
-Yan ! My fem nb/trans gal! They’ll kick ass with their katana, have the hots for Bim, and looove Japanese culture and stuff. Very adorable. Loves pink. 10/10 love to write.
-Technically I do have a muse for Mark, or..idea? I’m thinking about shoving it into my own oc/thing..but basically he got tortured n abused by Authy so hes not quite like the real life markimoo..just a nervous mess whose dealing with his traumas..
-Bing, Skater lad, yellow/orange eyes, sunflower vibes. Tries his best, clumsy as fuck, great for a laugh when hes not cowering under google.
-Edward iplier,  Gah my doctor lad.. I have a hc that he Lost arm. In fire..or by dark n wilf.  He has heterochromia too!! One cho ceye one blue one. He is a fucking nerd (Minor adhd lets be honest) He fucking loves space and science and space/science related lights. He has a bat plus with spacey wings. He likes reading, likes being clean and is quite a quiet indulger in food which has left him with a big of a softer figure. Super gentle nature..nothing like the arrogant portrayal we got in some videos.
-Angus   I love this man!!! Part Aussie, part irish, a whole lot of gruff old dad with a soft spot for nice people and animals, has his own big place, next to a large ass forest. Loads of scars. Loves boots and cameo coloured clothing. A lovely guy when you get past the rough edges.
Aand onto all my ocs as of writing this (cause you name well know I be writing new ones like..all the time.)
--------------------
OC’S (My original characters!)
-Jessy, Cowboy-   Choker with gold bell. Lil ears/horns. Spots. Shy but sweet. Hands and feet different colour to rest of skin. Kinda  fur ish feeling rather then just straight-up skin.  Pear shaped figure. Shy lad. Likes to take lots of naps, anxious easily but a big people pleaser too.
-Ailan and Keros. Moth n butterfly boi.  (Literally just made up with a friend, just a random soft pair of lads tbh nothing too fleshed or spesh)
- Louie - Followed by a dark being/creature/spirit... Yet to determine what else about him, but hes got brown hair, pointed ears and looks lovely in green.
-Quinton  A Hybrid of Demon and Angel otherwise called a Guardian. Quirky, Pan as shit, great dress sense. Extremely calm. Can see auras. Lovely black feathered wings. Bright blue hair.  Kind smile. Works at a little coffee shop in his spare time.
-Ori  Very pure angel boy, previously owned and not very well treated by a god, came crashing down to earth with no memories but his wings intact. Some help him.
-Lumi  Ghost boy! Died years ago under awful circumstances..now lingers around on earth, sometimes meeting humans who happen to be able to feel or see his presence, he has the ability to make himself solid for short periods of time.
- Lucio Witchy..dragon soul something or other- Deaf.Paralyzed? In the arms??They might use alot of energy trying to hover around instead of having to use a chair..(I mean how many witches do you see with chairs??).. Although they could not have use of their arms instead, like..paralyzed from the shoulder down- they still have them but theyre effectively useless and easily sore.. (which might make magic really hard, cause theyd have to master it again without their hand gestures.)
- Eztli, Bit of a prick. Basically got cursed to have really weird blood that replished and rejuvinated too fast/too much by a witch he angered. So he turned the curse into a good thing and basically goes out offering himself as a human blood bag for vamps willing to pay in info, items, cash or uh..other services..
- Gallio Photographer, has hypocalcemia. Haven't really done much else with him tbh.
-Aomi Warlock/witch in training. Downright awful at it. Young and lives in a nice lil cottage outside of the village he was abandoned in.

- Kiyan. A little assistant android!! Created to assist, he can make portals!, He works at a post office. Hes under surveillance by the company that made him and isnt yet aware of many human customs/emotions..
- Alex  A very confused, overly optimist Alien who doesn’t know what they are. Come from the planet Eutychia, 4'3. They fucking glow. You know  Kilowatt from space chimps? think that. But hair n freckles and more human and just as  bubbly and energetic.
-Locus  Mer/Fish boi!  Transparent fins, glowy patches, plays harp + loves music.
-Lir  A Tiny Octopus/Human hybrid lad. Makes little burble and trill noises. Quite harmless. Needs a home.

Small bois (A collection of tinys because G/T is fucking great okay?)
- Tobias. Literally Made of hair gel. cleary, adorable, aaand Eats soap..amoung other non food items he probably should not ingest but does..
- Hinto  Guy made of foam slime. Very chill n laid back.
- Glowstick bubs. (Alo/aloke -  Green and blue  +  Siro - Yellow n pink.  + Mavi (Vi) Red and silver. + Roxy (Ro) - Orange and  purple )  They’re a cross between glowsticks and lava lamps and its epic- asides the fact they have like.half a brain cell each. Lots of sleeping n lazign around.
- Theo  A tiny ink creature.  A clever little lad, who likes to drawn and write n paint in ink and leave cheeky little black splotches everywhere. A very good writer companion tho.

"My head…" Edward grumbled under his breath, flinching when he ran his hand through his hair. He felt an all too familiar feeling of dealing with a concussion, just what he needed. When he tried to open his eyes, but his vision is blurred and was internally grateful that he wasn't in the Medical Wing. All the open windows and light coming in through them would have just aggravate him even further. "Where am I? What happened?"
"Hagrid's dog jumped on top of you and that resulted with you hitting your head against a rock."
Edward recognized his brother's chiding voice through the haze. "That would explain a lot. Who else is here?"
"Human? Just us. Animals? Who knows. Hagrid had to help a Professor with her class dealing with some creature." Alphonse explained, he got up from his spot and sat on the cot his brother was laying on. "Don't force yourself, do you want to see a doctor?"
"I'm fine, was just caught off guard is all." Edward waved his brother's concern with a wave of his hand. He's dealt with worse and didn't want to worry Alphonse. "Did you talk to him?"
"I did." Alphonse couldn't help but chuckle at the memory. "You were right and I learned a lot more about the school to help with my research. But… he seems to be carried away with the house war they have here."
"Yeah, but at least he knows how to keep quiet about it. If you ever want talk about magical creatures or want to know about how they keep the grass green here, talk to him." Edward blinked his multiple ties to regain his vision and saw he was in Hagrid's hut. "Why are there four of you?"
-.-
"Mr. Elric isn't coming today. Professor Elric sent him to the Medical Wing, something about dealing with a concussion?"
"What happened?"
"You know how he has an epiphany with animals? Fang jumped on him and Mr. Elric fell and his head landed on a rock. Madam Promfrey is taking care of him."
"So… is class cancelled?"
Monday's Alchemy Class sat around the Alchemy Classroom, Terrence reading the note that was left on the main chalk board. "Doesn't say…"
The bricks that was behind their instructor's desk began to shift, signifying someone is entering the classroom. Out came Professor Elric, holding onto multiple notebooks in hand along with what many assume to be boxes of colored pencils. "Hello everyone, my name is Professor Elric. I am Mr. Elric's younger brother. I will be taking over for today since he got into a little accident today. Don't worry, he's okay. Brother dealt with far worse."
Everyone in the classroom looked at the Alchemy Professor, wondering what he was going to teach them. For those that went to Amestris, they knew the Professor's teaching style. It is inhuman, terrifying and right down cruel. That kind smile hides someone that could even rival Professor Snape in terms of being cold, cynical, malicious and bitter. Unlike Mr. Elric, he doesn't mince words, the only time one would get a compliment if you even remotely showed some sort of progress (it is noted that hardly ever happens in alchemy), and has said more times than they could count that he would threaten to kick them out. Mr. Elric never once ever made that threat against them. Oh sure, Mr. Elric will talk to you about it, how it would be easier for one to drop out due to outside circumstances and give one the opportunity to better oneself. Never once motioned he was going to kick or expel anyone from Alchemy. Professor Elric… is the total opposite…
"Everyone grab a journal and a set of pencils." Professor Elric instructed the students as he handed out the supplies for them to pass around. "For the remainder of the year, or until you quit or get kicked out of this class, you are to keep this journal and each week all of you are to deconstruct five items. You are to write them down in the journal and they will be checked weekly. We want to see the physical breakdown of whatever you choose, identify the materials and so on."
"…That sounds far too easy than it should." Fred whispered under his breath to his brother.
George hummed in agreement as he picked out a box of colored pencils. Each of the boxes and notebooks already had their names on it along with an unfamiliar transmutation circle or would it count as an array? He had seen it before, just not sure where.
"For extra credit, and possible brownie points, if you could create something out of said items and write it out how said item was created. If you need extra items to create that item, then you must also deconstruct them. Good news, said items could be counted for the following week and so on. Mr. Elric will go into deeper detail in your next class meeting." Professor Elric explained once everyone received their items. "For today, I wand all of you to write the Periodic Table from memory- Yes, Timothy?"
"Would you also like us to write the Alchemical Table as well?"
"…" The Professor thought for a moment before he nodded, many inwardly groaned or glared at the Slytherin for adding more to their workload. "Both tables. All of you may work together or by yourself. Keep in mind that you have a higher chance of finishing working in a group. Good luck."
Alphonse couldn't help but chuckle at seeing the students struggle to get into groups to do their work, all the while panicking about the work. It amused him how there is a periodic and alchemical chart hung on the wall that all of them had their backs turned to. Let's see how long it'll take them to take notice.
-.-
"Hey… hey… hey…. Hey… hey… Can I hide here?"
Fourth Years, Hufflepuff and Slytherin, Potions class stared at the Alchemy Teacher in bewilderment as he continuously poked Professor Snape with a wooden spoon. They were waiting for the Potion's Master to explode and kill the younger of the two. However, if anything, Professor Snape calmly got up from his seat, went into his supply closet and came out with seemingly random items. He instructed Mr. Elric to sit in his chair while he created a potion for him.
Mr. Elric silently sat down on the previously vacant seat, it unnerved everyone how compliant he is. Well, he does have a bandage wrapped around his head and his eyes are unfocused. Worry only intensified when Mr. Elric grabbed hold of Professor Snape's book and started to go on about how Potion's is a good class to take and how it reminded him of Alchemy. It was odd. Very odd.
"What are you making, Severus?"
"A potion."
"Vat kind of bozion?"
"Something to help with your concussion."
"…I haffe ein concuzion?"
"Yes."
"I think I'm going to be sick…"
"In English please."
"Zick."
"Oh, bloody hell."
-.-
"I swear! How did we not see that?"
"We should have looked around the classroom."
"We should have studied."
"How are we supposed to study for something we had no clue what we were supposed to study?"
"She does have a point."
"Remember, Mr. Elric did this to us all the time last year. We should have paid more attention to our surroundings."
"Last time that happened, Mr. Elric started to go on a tangent about toads and the color pink."
"…How?"
"That occurred after he came back from a meeting at the Ministry of Magic."
"Ah…"
"…Are we still on for Friday?"
"Yeah."
"Should we bring snacks?"
"What kind of snacks?"
Emmeline Evan, Yaxley Prang, and Wynne Ranott walked out toward their respective classes. They had just finished Monday Alchemy class and they were all peeved. Of course, the youngest of the Elric Brothers would do such a thing. Should they be surprised? No. Are they? Yes. Yes, they are.
Emmeline Evan is a Seventh year Hufflepuff, she has long straight blonde hair, soft blue eyes and tiny freckled splattered across her face. A warmhearted young lady. She's also a very blunt person and tell it as it is. Because of this nature, many come to her for mature advice. She's very dependable and wants to become a healer in the future. That being said, can get her riled up (as in quidditch of she's a huge fan of), she starts cursing like a sailor. She's extremely oblivious though and hasn't had a boyfriend yet.
Yaxley Prang is a Fifth year Hufflepuff, curly blonde hair, dark green eyes and has a kind, thoughtful smile. A sweet, empathetic young man. He often looks after his younger housemates, talking to them, listening to them if something happens. Has a huge sweet tooth and wants to open his own pastry shop. He unfortunately doesn't know much about the muggle world as he lost his muggle mother at an early age.
Wynne Ranott is a Fifth Year Slytherin has long deep orange hair, icy blue eyes and has a very angular face. Her family may have muggle blood in them, but they are angel investors. Meaning, they give money to businesses to help them achieve top status for a portion of their stock. Once they become big, they sell their stock for more money. She is the girlfriend of Timothy and realizes that he is using her for money but doesn't really care as his family is from good stock.
-.-
Ling paced around the meeting room, agitation clearly written on his face. He was dressed in his finest clothing, the entire room had the finest of cloth for drapery, decorations and whatever else is expected from someone of his standings. He wasn't looking forward to the meeting, but it had to be done. It had to be done.
An audible clicked sounded out the seemingly silent room, signifying someone had just used the back passage of the room. Turning around, Ling turned to see that the part of the wall was partially left open, but no one was coming out of it. "Lan Fan, come out already."
"…I do not see the point of me wearing this, I am your bodyguard! Not some sort of doll!" Lan Fan whispered out furiously, stepping into Ling's view. She is no longer wearing her typical uniform that made her easily blend into the shadows or wearing the porcelain mask. She is now wearing a beautiful yellow and blue western inspired cheongsam styled dress, her hair pined back with pearls and precious jewels.
"By the end of the day, you will become my future wife and Empress. With or without the approval of the elders. This will work, the moment they hear what I have to say, they'll scramble around to appease themselves and myself as well." Ling assured Lan Fan solemnly, showing her a side of himself that is hardly seen by the bodyguard. He swiftly walked over towards her and pulled her into a tight embrace. "This plan will work, we've worked it out along with Alphonse and Mei. It will work."
Lan Fan hesitantly raised her arms and wrapped them around Ling's neck. "If I may say My Lord…"
"You are allowed to say whatever comes to mind, Lan Fan. You do not need my permission."
"What if you are capable having children? That would defeat the whole purpose of this meeting?"
"Are you saying you do want kids? With me? Hehehehe~~"
Lan Fan stared at Ling with a deadpanned expression as the young Emperor let her go and prance around the room. He kept going on about the possibilities of having kids with her. Even so, it worries her. The plan they have set out to ensure to have Ling get out of marrying 50 wives but still keep peace with all 50 clans. This plan has to work.
That was just one huge thing Lan Fan is worried about. The other issue… Ling's insistence on making her his wife. Grandfather would be rolling in grave by now. If anything, she surprised he hasn't risen up from the dead just to beat them both into a bloody pulp.
A curt knock reverberated throughout the room, it caused Lan Fan to run toward the secret passage but was stopped when Ling lunged at her and swung her around the room with him. Before he did so, he kicked the hidden door closed and proceeded with his twirling. "Dance with me, Lan Fan!"
"Is it safe to come in?" Mei opened the door just enough to peek her head through and couldn't hold back a squeal at seeing Ling and Lan Fan dance around the room. She hopes one day that would be her and Alphonse one day.
-.-
Alphonse paced around the strange room on the fifth floor of Hogwarts, deep in thought. Instead of wondering why the room looked like broom closet, it now was a quaint library with a plush chair next to a lit fireplace, his mind is elsewhere. His mind is back at Xing, wondering if his future brother-in-law meeting will go alright with the elders of all fifty main clans of Xing. If this plan does not work, then all their planning will be for naught and Ling will have to marry fifty wives.
With a sigh, Alphonse allowed himself to fall onto the chair and rubbed his forehead. "This gamble better pays off."
-.-
"I do not know if I am capable of having children due to my time being a homunculus. It is heavily noted that they are incapable of having children. That is why I advise of this proposal and equal opportunity for any child of all clans to become next ruler of Xing."

Sentimental Love in a Cynical World
Word count: 2182
Warnings: language because it’s me, maybe a little peek at some smut ;) (literally not really though don’t get your hopes up), generally angsty.
A/N: This is some angsty shit. Hold on to your hats, friends, cause this is a ride from start to finish. I wrote this late January/ Early February. It took me a half day to write and then so much time to edit—cause my writing style is wacko anyway without writing from the perspective of a drunk man—but we’re here now. And this is for real, for real one of my favorites. I’m sorry in advance.
Additional A/N: also please read the tags after you’re done. Anyway, enjoy!
———————————————————————
Luke didn’t know where he was going, but he knew he was following someone. He wasn’t sure when he’d left the group, but here he was navigating through the swarms of people he didn’t know. He also wasn’t sure if his legs were still attached to his body. He was moving smoothly—too smoothly—like he was floating down the dark hallway.
The bathroom door seemed to blend in with the wall, but in a stroke of pure luck, he found it. The light behind the dark door was only slightly brighter than the hallway, but at this point it was light enough to see.
He didn’t even need to go to the bathroom, he didn’t know why he was coming in here. He just...
Goddammit... He just had to see him. He had to feel him against his skin. To know how it felt to hold—and be held by—him again.
“Ashton!” He called in the bathroom rather loudly. For a second he thought that the waiting would never end. That he would live forever in this moment waiting for Ashton to respond to him, or prove to him that he existed at all.
Ashton came around the corner, looking refreshed. Looking human, but only in the most ethereal sense of the word. The light bent around him, making it even easier for Luke to make Ashton’s face the only steady focal point. Even though he had just seen him a minute prior, he was suspended in the infinity of seconds between holding his presence before and sharing his presence now. Who he was outside of this bathroom faded from his mind. Everything was replaced by him.
“Jesus, Luke. Why’re you being so loud? I only left for a minute.” Ashton grimaced.
Luke couldn’t find any words that would come out right if he tried to speak them, so he said nothing. Ashton was the only thing in his mind. The only thing that wasn’t hazy. Luke couldn’t help tracing his eyes over him. “Why the hell are you looking at me like that?” Ashton teased as he washed his hands at the sink beside him. So close to him.
“I...” he trailed off. He could feel his heart race at the proximity. All he would have to do is take a few steps and he could be that close again. Ashton’s eyes looked at Luke’s reflection in the mirror, and he found the words were extremely simple. “I need you.”
Ashton paused. It was a long time—in Luke’s mind at least—before Ashton finally cut off the water.
When he turned to Luke, his hazel eyes almost looked sober. “Are you joking?”
Luke didn’t say anything, suddenly afraid that he had said too much. But he didn’t feel like he had. It felt familiar, telling Ashton what he wanted, and he couldn’t let that control go. So he stood his ground—his silent ground.
Ashton’s eyes seemed to change like they were filled with candle light. Hot and bright and heavy. Luke felt the c-change in the energy between them. Ashton hadn’t looked at him like that in a while. Something old had awoken in Ashton’s mind, and he was watching it come back to life. “Lu,” Ashton murmured in a low voice only Luke could hear. It sent chills up his spine. “Please, god, tell me you’re not joking.”
His heart raced, as the space seemed to have slowly closed between them. Their gravity evidently growing too strong to stay apart. “Please promise me you’re serious.”
“I promise you, I need you,”
“Say it again.” Luke’s skin lit up with goose flesh an he bit his lip.
“I need you.”
Ashton’s lips were millimeters from his own. “Again,” he whispered.
“I need you.”
“So show me,” Ashton dared, as he closed the gap between their lips. Luke took the opportunity to pull himself flush against Ashton. There was no space. No breath. No distinct end or beginning to their bodies. No distinct feelings other than electricity vibrating through their every meeting point. He could feel his fingers and arms pulse with veneration.
Ashton’s hands were wet and cold, but he had worked them under Luke’s shirt anyway. He could feel the strong fingertips leaving the yellow indentions of pressure on his back. Luke arched toward him even more, content to follow the commands of Ashton’s hands anytime.
Ashton tasted like whisky. His tongue was velvety and soft. His breath was heavy inside of Luke’s mouth, and he couldn’t stop himself from wanting more. He ached for it.
Luke kissed deeper, as deep as he could, as hard as he could. He could feel everything. He wanted to feel everything. He wanted to shove his tongue as far as it would go down Ashton’s throat. He wanted Ashton to know what it felt like to not be able to breathe because of him for a change.
But Ashton didn’t even falter at Luke’s determination. Luke wasn’t sure how it was even possible, but Ashton met him point-for-point. He even seemed to want it more.
Luke almost couldn’t keep up. He almost couldn’t breathe. He felt swept away in the riptide of emotions as Ashton backed him into bathroom counter. Luke gripped the hair at the base of Ashton’s skull—he seemed to be the only steady thing around him at the moment.
Ashton’s lips fell away from Luke’s, but continued down the side of his jaw. Luke gasped as Ashton placed heavy kisses along his neck. He knew Ashton could feel his heartbeat under his tongue, and in that moment he wanted nothing other than to be Ashton’s completely. To be entirely subducted under his weight. To block everything else in the universe out. To live in a world where there were no noises other than the dulcet sighs he could conjure from his lips. No sight other than red hair and tan skin and freckles and hazel eyes when the pupils dilate. No feelings other than their separate flesh braced against each other. Melting into one another...
Luke, desperate to feel more, greedily shoved his hands under Ashton’s shirt. He wrapped his arms around his waist to pull him closer—needing to feel the hot flesh against his warm hands. But the ever-present barrage of kisses at the base of Luke’s earlobe stopped without warning.
“Wait,” Ashton said, somehow sensible enough to know what words were at a time like this. But he sounded breathy, and his lips looked almost as red as his hair when he looked toward the door. “Someone’s coming.”
Luke didn’t back away. He didn’t care about anyone else. He didn’t want anyone else’s presence. He only wanted to drown in the smell of Ashton.
“Luke, I’m serious.”
“Me, too,” he teased against Ashton’s neck.
“Luke, stop!”
Ashton pulled away from Luke, and it was as if he had ripped a bandage off. Ashton was serious, he could see it in his eyes. Luke stepped entirely away now, not knowing whether he wanted to be angry or cry. Perhaps a little of both.
The bathroom door opened and someone he didn’t know walked in. He looked away from Ashton and faced the sink instead.
“Luke,” Ashton whispered and touched his arm after the guy rounded the corner to the urinals. Luke jerked away from his hand, and looked in the mirror to guide his messied curls back into place. “You’re mad,” Ashton tried again, “I get that.” Luke continued to say nothing. “But this is what we agreed to.”
“Who agreed?” Luke argued loudly in comparison to Ashton’s secretive whisper, “I never agreed to this. You told me, and I had to live with it.”
“Don’t do this, Luke. You’re drunk—we both are. Let’s just go back out to the party. Be with our friends.”
Luke scoffed. “What friends? The only person out there who isn’t getting paid to be here is Calum.”
“Then let’s be out there for Calum. It’s his birthday. Doesn’t he deserve one day without drama?”
“Michael’s not here.” Luke countered, “that’s drama. And who’s here instead? People we pretend to like. What do they have to do with Calum, other than gaining recognition for being around him? What right do they have to celebrate with him over Michael?”
Ashton looked around the bathroom, obviously concerned about the person who was in there with them, but Luke carried on anyway.
“But I guess nobody cares about that as long as he’s newly engaged. Right?” Ashton didn’t look like he disagreed.
Luke, feeling even more angry than he’d realized, reached up to his brotherhood necklace and held the circular pendant up. “I mean, what do these even mean anymore if we can’t even all be here on each other’s birthdays? This is the second year in a row without Michael. You can tell it’s hurting him!”
“Luke,” he urged, “you’re getting really loud. Just take a deep breath.”
“And if I have to spend one more second pretending around these people, I’m—. I’m gonna scream, Ashton. I cant take it anymore!” He pointed emphatically toward the door. He felt that his eyes were wide and buldgy, so he followed Ashton’s advice and took a breath. He found a spot on the base of the sink and rested his eyes on it. Eventually he rested his hands on it too—maybe he was holding himself up. He couldn’t tell anymore. He could only hear his blood pounding in his ears.
The random man peaked around the corner and when he saw that Luke made no sudden movements at him, he made a quick escape out of the bathroom.
“Luke?” Ashton tried in a soft voice after the door had closed, wiping out most of the din from outside.
“I don’t care if people know at this point,” Luke’s voice was quieter as he stared at his face—yellowed by the light—in the mirror. “About any of it. The acts, the press... us. Any of it. I don’t care, Ash.”
“Don’t say that.” Ashton said firmly, “you know why we can’t.”
“Do I?” Luke choked a sigh that sounded like a sob, and held Ashton’s gaze through the mirror, “I can barely even look at you anymore. How am I supposed to carry on like this? How can I lie, not only to the world, but to myself? You make me feel like I have the world, Ashton. I can’t just hide that. I can’t turn that off.”
“We’ve talked about this, Luke. We have to turn it off.” There was a pause. “I shouldn’t have given in so easily just now. I’ve been drinking, and it’s not fair to either of us. And it’s definitely not fair to you.”
Luke looked down to the floor, but Ashton guided Luke’s chin to aim his gaze right in his eyes. Luke felt the thumb trace over his cheekbone.
“It’s difficult—baby, I know. This is so incredibly difficult, but I know that we can get through this.”
Why the tears welled into his eyes, Luke didn’t know, but they were filling and spilling out before Ashton could say anything else that would hurt him. Ashton’s face changed, and he wiped away the tears as they fell. He pulled Luke into his arms, and into an embrace that made Luke feel like he could finally let it all go. And even though he towered over Ashton by a few inches, that didn’t mean he didn’t fold into his arms like it was the most natural place for him to be.
The sobs were encompassing. They had been building in his mind, begging for release, but he had been so careful not to fall apart. So meticulous in setting things aside. All of that built up resolve was gone now. He pressed his face into the curve of Ashton’s neck and pulled him closer, sobbing into his shirt.
When the initial tidal wave had subsided, he realized that Ashton had sat them both down and was holding him protectively. Comfortingly. Over the years, he’d grown to know being held in Ashton’s arms extremely well. It was his second home. He never wanted to leave.
He looked up into Ashton’s eyes, though everything was still blurry. He thought about how many times they had been in this position. How many times he had fallen in love with Ashton just by looking at his blurry outline through his tears.
He wanted to kiss him. He wanted to tell him that he was all he ever wanted, but that time was past—.
“I love you, Ash,” he gushed before he had a chance to choke the words down.
There was a pause. Luke almost hoped he wouldn’t say it back. If Ashton truly cared, he wouldn’t say it back...
“I love you, Lu.”
Luke cried for what felt like an eternity into Ashton’s shirt collar. Feeling sick for holding onto something that could never be real. But he’d rip his heart out for this love if it meant he felt something. And that hurt him more than anything else.

Warnings: a curse or two, preexisting injuries, and confusion (it's a pretty soft fic)
Word Count: 3.9
A/n: I developed a huge crush on Angelina while I wrote this, so now I wanna write an Angelina X Reader
Ever have a dream where it was snowing, but you woke up and you have to look out the window to confirm it's still summer? Well it was kind of like that, only with nothing. It wasn't normal to wake up with no clue how you got there, or where you had been, but yet, there I was, eyes closed. The only thing I really knew was the smell of cotton and bleach filled the air.
There was a dull ache in my cheek bone and left wrist. There was a more stinging pain on the skin of my knuckles and spots across my body.
I finally force my eyes open, cringing at the artificial light. I noticed a redhead woman filling out some forms in the chair next to my bed and a young redhead girl sitting cross legged at the end of the bed, flipping through a book with a bored expression.
I winced as I pushed myself into a sitting position. The older women noticed and tried to stop me from moving. She helped prop me up with a pillow and gave me a glass of water from the nightstand.
"Where am I?" I asked, after drinking the water, regretting opening my mouth as it hurt to talk, like I ate sandpaper.
"Saint Mungo's, dear," she said, putting my empty glass on the nightstand.
I nodded like I knew where that was. "Um… who are you two?" I asked, glancing at the redhead girl.
Concern crossed her features. She looked at the girl who was looking between us with wide eyes. "Ginny, get a healer," the woman said. The girl nodded and flew off the end of the bed and out of the door. "Now tell me, what exactly do you remember?"
"I… a lot of pain… random faces," I shrugged hopelessly, looking down at my hands, my knuckles wrapped up and my left wrist in a cast.
She sighed, something between a hopeless and sad look in her eyes.
After a couple minutes, a healer came in and did some spells and gave me a couple potions.
The healer and woman talked, but piecing together what they meant was like looking at one piece of a puzzle.
From what I understood, my family was out of country and didn't "give a flying hoot" about what happened to me according to the woman. So in the morning I's be discharged and go home with the woman—her name was Mrs. Weasley from what I heard from the healer.
When Mrs. Weasley asked if that would be okay, I just gave her another hopeless shrug.
In the morning, the healer changed my bandages and I changed into some clothes Mrs. Weasley brought me. Soon I was discharged and followed Mrs. Weasley to a car outside.
"So you really don't remember anything?" Ginny asked as we drove. I shook my head. "George is going to Freak Out—freak out with capital F Os, freak out in bold-"
"Ginny," Mrs. Weasley said, stopping her. "No need to freak out for him."
I was tempted to ask who George was, but before I could, we pulled into a long drive way. We stopped in front of a tall house that looked kinda pieced together and a lot friendlier than the hospital I woke up in.
Mrs. Weasley and Ginny lead me inside. There were… a lot of redhead boys. One stared at me for a moment before enveloping me in a hug. I awkwardly hugged him back.
"I'm so glad your okay," he whispered, placing a kiss on the side of my head.
Mrs. Weasley cleared her throat. The boy stepped back, running a hand through his curly hair. "Ginny, would you take her up to your room and make sure she's comfortable," she said. "Boys, I need to talk to you."
Ginny took me up to her room, pointing out doors as we went. They were three beds in Ginny's room, one of which was occupied by a girl a bit older than Ginny with bushy brown hair.
She looked up as we entered and closed her book. "You look dreadful, (y/n), what happened to you?" She asked as if I knew.
I opened my mouth but had no idea what to say. Hey, I was severely tortured and barely remember a thing, who are you?
"Mum's explaining," Ginny spoke up. The girl gave a concerned look before getting up and walking downstairs. "That was Hermione, she's Ron secret crush—though I'm pretty sure she likes him too, it's a whole mess of feelings, y'know?"
I nodded. She pointed me to my bed and told me the trunk next to it was mine. She told me where the bathroom was and that I'd probably want to shower before dinner so there would be hot water.
I took her advice about the shower, figuring that if there were that many people in the house, hot water died quickly. After that, I changed bandages and went through my trunk.
There were two huge jumpers with big Gs on them, I figured they were probably Ginny's. I pulled on some comfortable clothes and went downstairs.
The only people in the house that weren't redheads with freckles were Hermione and a black haired boy. Everyone looked kinda familiar, but I couldn't put names to faces.
Mrs. Weasley and one of the older boys were making dinner. He had earrings and long hair, a hoodie with the sleeves cut off and distressed jeans—the basic punk look I suppose.
"There you are, dear, how are you feeling?" Mrs. Weasley asked, wiping her hands on a towel.
"Uh… fine, just a bit out of it," I said.
She walked up to me and wrapped an arm around my shoulder. "Ah, well, you'll be better before you know it," she said, giving my shoulder a squeeze. "Let me just make sure you have everyone's names. There's Ginny with Hermione, Harry and Ron in the living room, Percy's in the backyard, that's Bill, and there's Fred—Fred, where's George?"
Fred looked up from setting the table, he looked similar to the boy that hugged me earlier, but not quite the same—I couldn't put my finger on the difference but there certainly was one. "In our room, want me to get him?" He asked.
"Ah… no, she'll see him at dinner," Mrs. Weasley said, glancing between Fred and I.
I hung out on the porch with Hermione and Ginny, they talked about school and Hermione told us about new muggle technology.
Soon after that, we went in for dinner. The guy who had hugged me when I came in, George, came down for dinner. He looked kind of heartbroken and the smile he shot me was visibly forced.
After a very quiet and awkward dinner, most everyone went on to whatever they normally did. But instead of joining them, I went to bed.
A lot of stuff felt like déjà vu, like the general chaos of a large family or stepping over the creaky stair that sounded like it would bring the house down.
While staring at the moon out the window, I tried to make sense of what little I knew. After a while, Hermione and Ginny came in and I heard everyone else go to bed. They talked quietly for a bit before going to sleep.
The moon had crossed the sky and was far from sight by the time I threw the blankets off and sat up. I rubbed my face in frustration, fed up with the everlasting questions looping in my head.
It felt like my muscles were being strained with the stress of the questions circling me. I got up from the bed and went downstairs.
Embers were dying in the ashes of the fireplace, putting off very little light. I sat down on the couch, tucking my knees to my chest to help keep warm.
I heard someone walk down the stairs and glanced back to George in a sweater with a large G like the ones in my trunk. He offered a smile when he saw me and stood by my shoulder behind the couch, fiddling with the old blanket that hung on the back.
"Couldn't sleep?" He asked, his voice slightly strained.
I shook my head, looking back at the fireplace. "Just… annoyed, frustrated really," I said. "Don't get me wrong, I'm glad—grateful!—you guys took me in while my parents do who knows what in who knows where. But I haven't got a single clue to what exactly is going on, and all the clues I've gotten have only made me more confused."
"I'm not sure these'll help, but ah…" he trailed off. I looked up at him as he took a bunch of letters from his back pocket. He held them out. "Every letter you sent me until you were sixteen."
"Why do they stop at sixteen?" I asked, taking them and glancing through them. Some looked rushed, others neat, but mostly just tired.
"Ah… life changed a bit… we hung out more in person for one," he said, looking at the fireplace. "I'm sorry… about earlier, if I knew you didn't remember everything I wouldn't have jumped on you."
"It's okay," I said, putting one of my hands over his. "Guess I'm just not much of a hugger."
"I remember you telling me that in our second year," he smiled, running his thumb along the edge of the bandage. "Your fingers are freezing, you cold?"
I shrugged and tucked my hands between my knees to try and warm my fingers up.
He took off his jumper leaving him in a t-shirt. He bunched up the jumper up and pulled it over my head, making my hair slightly staticky. I put my arms through the sleeves and smiled at him.
"Thanks," I said.
"No problem, doll," he said, moving around the couch and sitting by me.
At the nickname, I pulled the collar over my mouth to hide my flustered smile. The jumper was warm and smelled like his cologne, which wasn't helping me kill the smile.
"Glad to know you still try to hide your smile when your embarrassed," he said, nudging my shoulder.
I let the collar drop—clearly he'd seen me flustered before. I looked at the cuffs of the jumper instead of him.
"So… we went to school together, we wrote each other and… what were we? Like best friends or something?" I asked.
"Yeah, best friends," he said, his smile seemed more forced than before. "You, me, Fred and Lee Jordan used to wreak havoc… well, before we dropped out—Fred and I dropped out, you didn't, kinda wish you did though."
He gently picked up my hand and moved the bandages slight to reveal scarred note. I looked closely to see what it said.
"It says, I must not tell lies," he said as I tried to follow the neat loops of the writing. "I've got on too, so do Fred, Ginny, Ron, Harry and Hermione."
He held up his hand and there on the back a scar similar to mine, but in different hand writing and a bit fainter.
"Why's yours faded?" I asked, running my finger over the words.
"Because I dropped out half way through that year of torture, but you didn't want to come with us… so you had to continue… that," he said. "So… how're your hands feeling? Your cheek okay? Mum said you must've put up quite a fight."
"I'm fine… all injuries should be gone in a week or two," I said, pulling the jumper sleeves over my hands. "What about you? Are you okay?"
"What? Why wouldn't I be okay?" He asked, frowning and furrowing his eyebrows.
"I don't know, you just seem kinda upset," I said, looking him dead into his eyes.
He relaxed and put an arm around me. "I'm fine, it's nothing you need to worry about," he said, giving my shoulders a squeeze.
I nodded and laid my head on the front side of his shoulder. I closed my eyes, listening to the fast thumping of his heart. I peacefully drifted to sleep.
I woke up to sun streaming in the window. My face scrunched up and I pulled my jumper collar over my face. I rolled away from the sun and peaked over the collar. I was back in the bedroom I had left at that unreasonable hour at night.
I guess George carried me back up, as I was still in his jumper, and it still smelled like his cologne. I closed my eyes again and just laid there, sun warming my back. I heard one of the girls start to get up, so I gave a wave over my shoulder to tell her I was awake.
"G'morning," Hermione said, yawning.
I pushed myself into a sitting position. "What time is it?" I asked, blocking the sun with my hand.
"Um… early o'clock," she said, pushing messy hair from her face. "The boys aside from Harry and Bill are probably still asleep."
"Good, that means I can wear George's jumper longer before returning it," I said, moving my head out of the sun.
"Where'd you get his jumper?" She asked, pulling her blanket off her bed and wrapping it around her.
"Him," I shrugged. "I couldn't sleep so I went downstairs and he came down. We talked a little, he gave me his jumper and I fell asleep on his shoulder. Merlin, I hope he doesn't think I'm weird for that."
She laughed which caused Ginny to throw a pillow at the back of her head and grumble. "Don't worry, you've done plenty of weirder things and he still likes you. Hey, Gin, remember when they got caught setting up an extreme prank and she shouted they were going skinny dipping?"
Thinking of the story, I vaguely remembered it. A plump lady in pink robes scowling, George and I trying to make up an excuse. "We got detention but stopped what's-her-name's questions, right?" I asked.
"Yes, now sleep," Ginny said, pulling blankets over her head.
Hermione reminisced some more, which brought back some crazy memories.
Eventually Ginny got up and we went down for breakfast. Mrs. Weasley greeted us with a kiss on the head and shoved plates of food at us.
A couple weeks went by, Fred, George and I hung out. On multiple occasions we went to the local muggle town, hung out as friends would.
But with George… it was a different story. One of the books I was reading, it described a crush as butterflies and blushing, but with George, it was like we pushed each other to be greater people, he calmed my nerves and simply made me smile just by being in the room. I could lean on him, I could hold his hand if worse came to worse, I could spill my guts to him.
More memories came back, the letters helped. There was one memory that stuck out, so much so that I almost thought it was a dream.
He and I were standing on a tall tower, the tallest by the looks of it. It's astronomy class, other students by their own telescopes. George had his arms wrapped around my waist. He had already finished his homework, so he decided to distract me from mine. We both had awful stinging scars on the back of our hands.
"I swear, it's like you're cold blooded," he mumbled, his thumbs running along under my jumper, nose nuzzling in the collar of my leather jacket.
"Maybe it's because you have blood like the sun," I said, turning around in his arms and pecking his lips.
"Are you calling me hot?" He had asked.
"You wish," I said before he pecked my lips again.
"I love you," he said.
"I love you too-"
"NO PDA!" The teacher yelled. George awkwardly stepped back and I continued my homework.
And that was how it went, the teacher told us no PDA and life went on. I was tempted to ask him, and the morning I worked up the courage, I walked down stairs and saw George with a girl I vaguely recognized.
George was beaming, a laugh still evident in his eyes. "Hey, look who came to visit, Angelina," he said, pointing to said girl.
"Hi- hey," I said, wondering how she played a part in my life.
"Well I can't stay long," Angelina said, handing a plate of baked goods to George. "But it's nice to see you're okay, (y/n)."
I nodded. "Yeah, I'm doing… something," I said with a smile, pulling the ends of my jumper over my hands. I couldn't help but admire her grace and beauty, like someone who knew what they were doing. And she wasn't just beautiful, she looked strong as an ox.
"Well I better be going," she announced, she kissed George's cheek before stepping into the dead fireplace. "See you later."
She winked and dropped something ashy into the fireplace before being pulled away in green flames.
"She's… something," I said, still smiling, though it wasn't as genuine now. All courage was just a memory now, just a ridiculous idea really.
"You okay? You're a bit out of it, again," he said.
"No, I'm fine, just thinking," I shrugged.
"Thinking about?" He prompted me to continue, picking up a muffin from the plate and taking a bite.
"Old memories," I shrugged.
I quickly went to the kitchen where most everyone else was eating breakfast.
George and I… I suppose were never a thing, and I guess there's nothing I could do about it. I swallowed my feelings and picked at the plate of food Mrs. Weasley put in front of me.
I hadn't talked to George as much after Angelina visited, I didn't need to be something to come between the two. With the lack of company, I got more reading done, read all the letters we had exchanged.
It had been some weeks since George and I had talked, and I was back to sitting in front of the dead fire. I had played a very cold game of Quidditch with everyone else earlier, and everyone was warn out, so I assumed I was the only one up.
Until I heard a shuffle of someone coming down the stairs. I looked over to see a groggy looking George.
He noticed me and smiled. "Do you ever sleep?" He asked, walking over to the couch and taking a seat next to me, shoulders touching despite the fact that there was plenty of room on the couch.
"Usually," I said, playing with a frayed string on the end of my jumper cuff.
"So… is there a reason you're not sleeping tonight?" He asked.
"Just some memories," I said.
He nodded and laid his head on my shoulder. "You know you can always talk to me, right?" He asked. "I know you inside out, nothing you say can faze me."
I shrugged. "So… how's Angelina?" I asked.
He sat up, his smile was an attempt to cover heartbreak in his eyes. "I knew you liked her," he said, playfully punching my shoulder.
"As a human being, yeah," I shrugged. "But like… aren't you… and her… a thing?"
"What?" He asked, starting to laugh. "No, just friends. Where'd you get that idea?"
"I just… you two seemed very nice together when she was over," I said quickly, feeling very flustered.
"Oh Merlin, no," he shook his head, a goofy smile playing on his lips. "No, she's more likely to date you than me."
"Oh… cool, that makes a lot of sense," I said. "I think I remember… she took the other Quidditch girl to a ball?"
"Yeah, Katie, the other Quidditch girl," he smiled, leaning back on my shoulder.
There was a long silence between us, watching the last red coals die out. It was nice having him there, the warmth radiating off him made me hate myself for staying away from him those weeks.
He reached over and gently took my hands in his. "Everything okay? You've been awfully quiet recently," he said, looking at the new nail polish on my nails Hermione had put on the night prior.
"Yeah… well… you said you knew me inside and out? Nothing I say can faze you?" I asked.
He sat up a bit so he could look me in the face. "I do know you, you haven't changed," he said.
"Uh-huh, so… I remember this one time, during astronomy class I guess. You had finished your homework early and you had your arms around my waist…" I trailed off, pulling my jumper over my face.
"Gonna be honest, that happened a lot, I may need a bit more information to know which memory this is," he said happily.
"You said I was cold and I said you had… blood like the sun-"
"And than I made a cocky comment about being hot and we kissed a couple times," he said. "Yeah, I remember that, that was our last class together before I dropped out."
"We also… said…."
"I love you," he said. "Mum told me not to talk to you about it till you remembered something about it… we're- were, I guess, dating… and we were—I still am—passionately in love—madly sounds crazy, what we had was real."
I slowly pulled the collar of my jumper down so I could see him. Everything in his eyes told me it was true.
I wrapped my arms around him and held him close. "I think I love you," I said into his neck. "I'm like ninety-nine percent sure."
"I knew Angelina was going to steal you away," he joked, holding me tight.
"Shut up, if we haven't broken up yet, I'm sure there's a reason for it," I said. "Probably your jumpers."
"I've been giving you my jumpers since I was eleven, I think the reason we're together is the sheer number of times you've got detention by knowing me," he said.
"What's Angelina's number?" I asked jokingly.
"You're awful," he said.
I leaned back. He was beaming ear to ear, it reached his eyes, unlike earlier. I pressed my lips to his. He instantly responded, pulling me closer. His lips were soft and warm, and the whole sensation made me want to stay like that forever.
It didn't last nearly as long as I had hoped, as someone had to come downstairs and scream "Oh, fuck!"
George and I jumped away from each other. I looked towards the stairs and saw Ginny standing there with a grumpy expression.
"Ginevra, language," George said.
"I'm not the one snogging the girl," she said.
"Fair enough," he shrugged. "What're you doing down here?"
"(Y/n) wasn't in bed," she shrugged.
"Well I'm okay, you can go back to bed," I said.
"I can see that," she said with her hands on her hips. She turned around and went back upstairs. "You guys better not be like that all the time."
George rolled his eyes though she couldn't see. I rest my head on his shoulder. He placed a kiss on the top of my head. It wasn't long until we fell asleep on the couch.

what if it’s us? (ch. 2)
a/n: okay so i didn’t notice i put “dorm” instead of “apartment” in the first chapter. my mistake. pidge lives in an apartment.
also posted on ao3 | ch. 1
Tired. Pidge was feeling extra tired today. So tired that it wasn't even a feeling for her anymore, it was her whole existence. Her eyes felt heavy, head spinning slightly. She had pulled several all nighters this week to work on papers and review for the upcoming finals. All nighters were her thing, she was used to it, the girl never slept. But everyone had their limits, and Pidge just reached hers.
"You should rest, Pidge. You look exhausted." The girl on the desk said.
Pidge responded, leaning her arms on the desk. "It's fine, Allura. I look like this everyday."
That made her co librarian giggle. Allura's smile was just so pretty. Wait, no, her whole being was pretty. No doubt, anyone who'd meet this woman for the first time would immediately fall in love with her and her beautiful dark skin, soft voice, long dyed white hair, and sparkly blue eyes. They weren't as sickeningly blue as Lance's though–
Shit. Not again. This was approximately the fifteenth time Lance just randomly popped out of her mind. Why was everything always had to be about that loud mouth? Stupid tired mind, stupid soulmate.
"I am truly sorry for not being able to help you these past few weeks. I'll make it up to you. I shall take shelf duties tomorrow if that's to your liking."
Ignoring the fact how, as always, Allura talked like one of those professionally written royal proclamations in old movies, Pidge responded with a thankful smile. "That'd be great. How's your foot though? Are you sure it's okay for you to move around?"
Allura and Pidge started working at one of their college libraries a couple months back for they were both part of a placement program for the Computer Science and Literature students that Altea University had. Pidge was originally placed at the tech desk, though that station wasn't very active in that particular college library so they just decided to also give her normal library duties along with Allura.
After their first week however, Allura had to take a few days off because of a terrible, heartbreaking accident– she fell off the stairs when she tried to run in heels, trying to prove to her friends that Cinderella's sonic run on the castle's massive stairs away from the Prince was impossible. She proved her point well. –that caused major injury on her left foot. The poor girl was supposed to let it rest for a month, and she did but she was still in the healing process, Pidge didn't want to let her do tasks that required a lot of walking on her first day back.
"Don't worry, it's alright now. Though I still need to keep the bandages for a couple more weeks, my doctor said that it would be best for me to do leg and feet activities and exercises."
Pidge tried to look at Allura's foot just to check and failed miserably for it was impossible to see with this huge desk in the way. "Okay. Shelf duties is yours tomorrow then."
"Splendid!" Allura said cheerfully. "So, anything interesting happened while I was gone?"
Pidge's expression immediately fell at the question. "Oh I have a lot to tell–"
"Pidge!" Speaking of.
"Lance." She said stoicly to the tall guy that just entered the library, carrying what seemed to be an old laptop.
"Oh thank God. Help me." He quickly slammed the laptop on the desk. "I think I accidentally put virus in– Well, hello there." His paniced expression was immediately replaced by a cheeky, suave look with that toothy grin of his as soon as his eyes fell on Allura. The shorter girl rolled her eyes. Typical Lance.
Pidge couldn't help but chuckle when Allura only responded by giving him a confused, uncomfortable look. "Allura, this is Lance. Don't worry, he's not as creepy as he looks."
"Uhm? Ouch."
"A friend of yours?"
"Unfortunately, yeah." The short haired answered, completely unaware of how fond she sounded.
"I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that." Lance turned to Allura with a flirty smirk. "So uh, you come here often?"
"I work here, as you can see."
Covering her mouth, Pidge tried her hardest not to burst out laughing. No wonder this boy was single. Using her other hand, she tugged on Lance's jacket. "You're such a flop. Let's go, lover boy, we're blocking the desk."
With a heated face, Lance took his laptop with him and let himself get pulled by his small friend.
"Okay. Back to my laptop." He said, a little aggressively, trying to take his own and Pidge's attention away from what just happened as he sat on a random table that was fairly far from the main desk. "Can you check if there's any virus or something? It kept crashing after I connected one of my group mates' usb in here."
Finally clearing her throat to end her non stop giggling, she then spoke. "Let me see." Pidge sat beside him, moving the laptop a little to face her. She hissed, her vision blurring slightly at the screen's blinding light. She literally felt like her eyeballs were about to fall off. "God, turn down the brightness." And she did with a few clicks. It was kind of ironic how her world revolved around computers yet it was also the one that just caused her pain. Technically, it was the lack of sleep but she lived for the ironies.
"You okay?" Lance asked in a very worried tone with the sincerest concerned look that made her heart skip a bit.
"Yeah." She said, trying to focus on examining the files and whatnot in his computer.
His eyebrows furrowed as he continued staring at her, slowly noticing the little things that clearly didn't scream I'm okay, like how extra pale she looked and how the bags under her eyes seemed to be darker than normal. "Oh really?"
"Yes, Lance. I'm perfectly fin–" The boy placed his forehead on hers. "W-What are you doing?"
Her body froze but her face heated up. Shit. Shit. Shit. Pidge thought. Just when she thought the situation couldn't get more embarrassing, she heard a student quote. "What the fuck? Is that allowed?"
Suddenly she wasn't as pale anymore. Lance placed his hand on the back of her head for steadiness. Closing his eyes, he let out a thinking hum, as if he was focusing on whatever he was doing. She felt his breath touching her face, sending shivers down her tiny body. Their faces were so close that she could then see the little freckles on his nose and cheeks. She didn't even know he had those. They were cute. He smelled really nice too.
Before she could even continue her observation and borderline creepy thoughts, Lance finally pulled away.
In her flustered state, she asked. "W-What the fuck was that?"
"You're kinda warm. But not too intense. Though, I can tell you're not feeling well."
"Who in the world checks someone's temperature like that?"
"Me and my whole family. Now, shush. How many hours have you slept last night?"
She scoffed nervously. "Mind your own sleep schedule, McClain."
That was all the reaction he needed. "Pidge, you need rest."
"Why does everyone keep saying that?"
"Because you can literally apply as a walking dead extra right now and they'll hire you on the spot. And because you do need rest. Which is why Hunk and I will be going to your place tomorrow night."
Her mind blanked for a moment. A few minutes ago he was just trying to mess with her heart with his unique method of feeling one's temperature, now he wanted to go to her place? "... What? You don't even know where I–"
"You'll take us there of course. You live in an apartment near the campus right? It'll be perfect. Hunk and I would always do something fun on fridays. It's kind of like our rest day. Y'know, away from all the stress and schoolworks. Which you really need right now."
Unbelievable. "No. Lance, I have a shit ton of projects and papers to do."
He shrugged. "So do we. Do you have anything to pass on saturday or sunday?"
"No. But–"
"Great. Take a break with us then. We can watch a movie or play videogames, anything that isn't studying."
"How is that going to help me rest? I–" A groan.
Sighing in defeat, she looked back at his laptop and started updating his anti virus.
Tired. Pidge was too tired to argue and tired enough to deserve a break. She knew it was over once the word videogames came out of his mouth. A little break from school didn't sound that bad too. "Fine." She said unenthusiastically, though deep inside that little body of hers, there was definitely excitement.
Either she was excited about the video games or hanging out with Lance. She hoped it wasn't the latter.
Little did she know that a certain tan skinned boy was ten times more excited than her.
"Your laptop doesn't have any virus, by the way. But you have too many files, that's why it keeps crashing. Seriously, you should get a new hard drive or something. And delete some files that you don't need, you have too many selfies here."
Lance screeched so high it hurt everyone's eardrums. Thou shall not see his unflattering photo booth selfies. "Hey!" Grabbing his laptop from her, he pouted. "You'll never know when I need them."
It was when a few shushes reached him that he once again was reminded of where he was. He was about to apologize when he felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. Reading the text, he cussed. "Shit. Hunk texted, I'm late for practice."
The girl beside her raised a brow. "Hunk's in the dance team?"
"Nah, he just likes watching Shay. I'll see you tomorrow, Pidge!"
Lance then stood up and walked away.
Oh no, wait, he came back. "Oops. Almost, forgot." He grabbed his laptop. "Thanks for this by the way. Bye!" And he was gone.
With a fond smile on her lips, Pidge thought. What a dork. ___
It was about 8:30 PM when Pidge came back to her apartment. She was about to go back to stressing her mind out thinking about school works when the smell of burgers hit her nose as she entered the apartment, making her stomach rumble. Lazily dropping her bag on the couch, she then walked to the kitchen. To her surprise, her roommate was cooking rather than preparing some left overs or take outs like they'd usually do.
His mullet was tied in a small ponytail to avoid pieces of his thick raven hair from covering his face and burning the whole kitchen down again. Long story. "Whatcha cooking?" Pidge asked, leaning her side on their kitchen glass door.
He gave her a quick glance before answering. "Some instant patties I found in the fridge. Have you eaten yet?"
"Nope. Nice scrunchy."
"You gave it to me for my birthday."
"That's why it's nice because I picked it. Red suits you." He could already see the smirk on her face without looking.
"You bought it because you'd literally buy everything that you could make a Heathers reference with."
"Oh, but you loved the movie, Keith. Don't lie."
Saying that Keith and Pidge were best friends would be an understatement. The two didn't immediately get along when they first met at their school's conspiracy club, they went through a whole lot of disagreements and fights. Now, one couldn't even live without the other. No one would've thought that the two most socially inept kids would be this close, but here they were.
Keith was a couple years older than Pidge though, they were the same grade, thanks to her above average intelligence. Thus, they graduated together both with honors, Pidge being their class valedictorian. The two went to different universities but decided to share an apartment for their unis were fairly near each other, they thought it'd be much more convenient if they'd just share an apartment rather than paying a shit ton for a dorm –for it wasn't really part of their scholarship– and force their anti social asses to interact with a random stranger they'd call a roommate. Plus, none of them would admit it but they didn't really want to spend college, or the rest of their lives, without each other.
"By the way," Pidge started, sitting down by their kitchen table as Keith finished preparing their dinner. He took a seat across her. "Matt's visiting next week."
"Oh." She didn't miss the way his body flinched.
"Oh?"
"That's... nice." Keith did a good job keeping a straight face but still failed to hide his emotions for there were tints of pink appearing on his cheeks and ears.
"Try harder." She blurted out. He took a bite of his pattie, violet like eyes avoiding her gaze.
Laughing lightly, she added "Also, a couple of my friends are coming over tomorrow. Get your headphones ready, one of them is obnoxiously loud."
He chuckled teasingly. "You have friends?"
"The fuck do you call yourself then?"
"The JD to your Veronica."
"You know we could be JD and Veronica but you're gay."
Shrugging, he responded. "Yeah, but we're still–"
Keith was then interrupted by the sound of her fork dropping. He was about to ask Pidge if she was okay when she suddenly bent down to grab her left foot, letting out a strangled yelp and startling her best friend. He immediately rushed to her side. "Pidge, what happened!?"
"M-My ankle. It hurts, I-I can't– ah!" Another shot of pain, now in her whole foot, interrupted her panicked explanation. Her ankle and foot throbbed as if the muscles there were twisting roughly by themselves. The worst part was she couldn't remember what caused this. She didn't hit her foot anywhere, she was just eating peacefully when she suddenly felt like something on her ankle popped.
"Shit, what did you do?" Keith asked with obvious concern and panic in his voice.
"I don't know! It just happened!"
"It's probably your fucking soulmate then."
For a moment, the girl was distracted from the pain as she let Keith's words enter her head. A word stood out.
Soulmate.
"Keith, get my phone." He obliged without questioning and gave her the device laying on the table. Once she had it, she quickly searched for a certain lanky boy's number and pressed call.
She waited for about ten seconds before finally losing patience and called Hunk instead. He answered after the second ring. "Pidge!" He said rather joyfully for some reason.
"Hunk!"
"Ah, great timing. Are you okay?" "Is Lance okay?" They spoke at the same time.
A pause.
A realization.
"Oh that's some good evidence right there." Hunk broke the silence.
"What happened to him?"
"The dance team were doing this really dangerous stunt, Lance was a flyer and uh, it happened too fast, I didn't really see but something went wrong with their formation, Lance landed on the wrong foot and might've sprained his ankle." Pidge barely understood what he said for he sounded very shakey and out of breath.
She winced, now feeling the pain spiraling across half of her leg. Keith stayed by her side the whole time. "Where is he now?"
"His team is taking him to the infirmary. I can't catch up cus I hate running and I have his bag but we're on our way."
"Hurry up then! It hurts like hell."
"Okay, okay. At least you got the big evidence you needed right?"
The thought of telling Lance about the whole soulmate thing made her groan and end the call. She felt more worried about him than anything else, however.
She remembered her mother saying that people could only feel 80% of their soulmate's pain. If she was hurt, she couldn't even imagine how much more painful it was for him.
"Lance?..." Pidge heard Keith say. "I hope you're not referring to McClain."
With widened eyes and apparently a sprained ankle, she asked. "You know him?"
"Oh, I do." A horrified expression then formed on his face. "Fuck, don't tell me– is he your?..."
Oh she had a lot to tell him.
___
Rubbing her feet together under the main desk, Pidge clicked her tongue in annoyance, dissatisfied with how she couldn't scratch an itch on her "injured" foot. She really couldn't do anything to ease it for it was beneath her converse, sailor moon socks, and the bandage that Keith forced her to put around her ankle. He was no expert but unlike Pidge, he paid attention to that one basic first aid lesson they had in high school.
Her foot didn't hurt that much anymore, thankfully. It took approximately ten hours for the pain to finally fade enough so that she could walk properly without limping, although her ankle would still feel some tenderness when touched. She thought perhaps it was only a mild sprain. Keith suggested it'd be better if she kept the bandage for a couple more weeks though, just to make sure.
"It'll be helpful to your dumbass soulmate too since they say people's injury would heal faster if their soulmate would also take care of it from their side." She remembered the dark eyed saying while wrapping the thick cloth around her lower foot and ankle.
Keith had been bad mouthing her soulmate since he started giving her multiple random bruises on various parts of her body almost every week when they started college. It was pretty understandable now that she knew her soulmate was on a dance team. Keith was still salty though. It became worse when she told him about who her soulmate was.
Keith was a member of Daibazal University's basketball team. They frequently had matches with Altea and both university's dance team would sometimes do opening performances for said matches. Apparently, Keith and Lance met in one of those matches, in the most unpleasant way that was.
Keith told Pidge about how Lance was so hyped on his seat one time, cheering loudly for Altea and booing too aggressively whenever Daibazal would get a point. His friends were telling him to shut up for once the referee heard him, Altea could lose a point because of the team's audience misbehaviour. He wasn't listening though and Keith just happened to pass by the bench –his coach called for him to rest, for he clearly was exhausted, and let the sub play– causing him to hear the dancer's borderline disrespectful chants. Keith politely asked Lance to turn his voice down or the referee would hear him but the boy was just so hyped that instead of just saying no, he even tried to start a fight. Thankfully, the other members of Altea's dance team were there and Keith wanted to save his energy and adrenaline for the game.
Needless to say, Lance didn't leave a very good first impression on her best friend.
Fortunately, Keith texted her earlier that he would be staying at his calculus partner's dorm to finish a project. Who knew what he would do if he met Lance at their apartment later. He was already in a bad mood when she told him Lance was one of the friends that'd come over at their place tonight. Keith obviously didn't want her alone with the boy. And if she'd be honest, Pidge didn't want that too. She didn't think her heart could take it, having to be alone with her soulmate.
Why? She wasn't sure. But he made her... feel things. Pidge didn't like it when she would feel things before she even knew what the feeling was.
Thankfully, Hunk would also be there.
"Pidge! You ready to go?" The obnoxious legend had entered the library once again with a bright smile.
She shushed him stoicly and waited for a certain food enthusiast to follow. He didn't appear. "Where's Hunk?"
"Oh. He said he couldn't come cause he wasn't feeling well for some reason. Didn't he text you?"
The smaller brunette gave him a confused look before looking at her phone which was on silent. A message from Hunk.
1/2 team punk (6:35 PM): I can't come *cough* *cough* I'm sick 😷
1/2 team punk (6:36 PM): Have fun with Lance tho 😉
She was going to kill him.
Hug him to death rather, because he was still a soft devil and she loved him.
boo u hor :(((
Pidge managed to reply and complete his mean girls reference with composure.
Great. She was stuck with Lance. For the whole night. It confused her how the thought of being alone with him could make her heart pound on her chest like crazy. Before she could even complain, he spoke again.
"Looks like it's just you and me, Pidge."
Something in her stomach fluttered.
"Pidge?" Said girl turned to see Allura approaching the desk. "Do we suppose have any Environmental Science books left?"
Pidge made a quick check on the library computer– which brightness she turned down earlier as to not mess with her tired eyes once again –ignoring how Lance tried to greet her co librarian in the lamest, most flirtatious way possible. Allura only responded with a blank hello.
"We have three copies but only one haven't been borrowed. I don't know where it is though?"
"I'll go take a look. Perhaps it had been misplaced." The older librarian then glanced at Lance before giving Pidge an assuring smile. "If I'm not mistaken, you guys have some plans for tonight, right? You should go ahead. It is almost the end of our shift anyways. I got this."
A blink "You sure?"
"Of course."
She smiled back, feeling absolutely grateful for the angel. "Thanks, Allura."
Hanging her huge black and orange backpack on her slim shoulders, Pidge then stood up and turned her attention to Lance. She was about to ask him if he was ready to go but paused when she noticed him staring at Allura who was walking away. He wore this almost bewitched but thoughtful expression, as if he was internally solving an unknown puzzle, as he looked at her from head to toe. However, Pidge didn't miss how his eyes lingered more downwards.
"If you're staring at her ass, I swear I'll poke your eyes out." Pidge stated irritatingly. It was making her sick morally and emotionally. Mostly, emotionally. Why? Again, she wasn't sure.
"I wasn't! I–"
"Yeah, yeah. Let's go." Instead of just going around the desk like a normal person would, Pidge hopped with her right foot, used her arms for support, and went over it. Their head librarian would kill her if she saw that. The strict old lady was on a vacation though, she thanked the universe.
She felt a light throb on her injured foot when she landed, however. It didn't hurt that much but it was there, making her bite her lower lip to prevent herself from reacting.
A wince.
It wasn't Pidge.
"Shit, this foot is killing me." Said Lance.
Oh. She forgot about that. Why she had the "injury" in the first place.
Lance was wearing blue flip flops, making the bandage around his lower left foot and ankle –that was very, yet more professionally done, similar to hers– stand out. Trying to play innocent, Pidge stared at it and asked "W-What happened to your foot?" The concern in her voice was far less from an act.
A light laugh escaped him before responding. "Stunt went wrong, basically. I hope my soulmate is okay."
That last sentence made her stiff slightly. He really did care about his soulmate, didn't he? Technically it was Pidge but he didn't know that. She convinced herself that he only cared about the soulmate that he created in his mind, not Pidge.
"That looks painful." It hurt a lot, actually. She thought. "You sure you can walk? My apartment's a few blocks away."
"Aww, Pidge, you do care."
"I'm leaving you–"
"I mean, yeah! I can totally walk, this is just a mild sprain, no big deal. Let's go!"
The two finally left the library but once they exit the building, Pidge got another text from Hunk that would surely mess with her mind up for the rest of the night.
1/2 team punk (6:45 PM): Btw, please tell me you're going to use this opportunity to tell Lance that you guys are soulmates? I purposely missed a hangout friday to give you this chance! 😩

We’re The Weird Ones?!
Chapter 3
My father was always a nice but strict man. He enjoyed joking around from time to time, but he always put duty above fun. He was a calm man either way, so he rarely got angry if I didn’t do my daily training routine. Mother was another story. She was the kindest soul I’ve ever met, and she was smarter than any too. She was the only one keeping my father in line, I would go as far as to say that my father feared her when she was irritated, which was often.
My father tells me every day that I look like her. He says I have the same intelligence and same kindness, which I always retort that he was just saying that because he’s my father. But he insisted. My mother didn’t stay for long, she died after my 10th birthday, when she was alone at home… when me and my dad were jogging, that’s when she had a heart attack. She has always had a poor health, so the doctors weren’t surprised of its suddenness.
My father and I changed after that. I don’t know if it was for the worse or not… but I know we were never the same happy family we were before.
My mother. I miss her a lot. What would’ve happened if we didn’t go jogging? Would she still be alive? Would we still bake cakes together? Would we… be the happy family we were before? Mom…
“Hey. C’mon wake up.” Someone nudged me, and I jolted slightly, opening my eyes wide. There was a woman near my bed, resting her hand on my forehead. She seemed… young. “Are you okay? You were whimpering in your sleep.” She seemed honestly worried. And I failed to respond. Her hand was cold and soft on my head… which was weirdly comforting. She furrowed her eyebrows before noticing she was still resting her hand on my forehead and sharply pulled it away, like she had touched burning coal.
“Sorry, I was just checking if you had a fever.” She explained, her eyes shifting away from me. “Yeah, it’s fine.” I sat up again, yawning and stretching. Wincing slightly once I realized that wasn’t a good idea, my stomach wound seemed to stretch too. The girl glanced back at me, and she seemed to hesitate. “Be careful. It’s still healing.” She warned, her tone threatening rather than concerning.
I nodded, already figuring that out by myself before relaxing once again. We both stared at each other for a few seconds before I smiled. “Uh… what’s your name?” Her brows furrowed deeper, as she scowled at me. “Or don’t tell me… I prefer you don’t tell me.” I nervously continued, rubbing my arm once she crossed her own. “It’s Emily. I’m the leader here.” She spoke with authority, but her young looks betrayed her.
“I’m-“ “Annabelle Blackwood. I know.” She interrupted. I bit my lip, realizing this girl was hard to talk to. “Y-yeah…” I nodded awkwardly. “So… uh- how old are you?” I asked, and I had no idea she could frown more. “I’m only here because Madeline couldn’t come.” She ignored the question, finally uncrossing her arms and sitting on the bed. “Madeline?” I asked, sitting upright. “The doctor. She was supposed to change your bandage, but she had other things to do, so I’m doing it for her.” She explained, eyeing my stomach, where the wound was.
I nodded and smiled at her. “Oh okay.” She kept eyeing the wound. I gazed at her curiously, wondering what was going on inside her head. “Do I… just take my shirt off then?” I tugged my shirt a bit, motioning what I meant, and she snapped out of it. Glancing at me startled. “What?” “Do you want me to take my shirt off?” I repeated, and her cheeks seemed to flush ever so slightly.
“Y-Yes.” I nodded at that and pulled the shirt up, leaving it beside me as the bandage was now visible. The blood seemed to be oozing, so no wonder I had to replace it. I hoisted my body up with my elbows and waited for Emily to do her thing, but she seemed lost in thought again. Only this time, she wasn’t glancing at the wound.
“Hey. You okay?” I asked, and she ruffled her head, face turning red as she began unwrapping the bandage. I could see the wound now, it was closed, but you could still see that the hole was massive. The stitching was good though, and I felt like the beam probably hadn’t reach any of my organs, which I was grateful for. Madeline, whoever she was, did a great job at it.
“Tell me if it hurts or something.” Emily ordered, as she took a few wet nappies from a small box and began cleaning around the wound. The blood seemed dry though, so it took a few rubs to make it disappear. Emily looked very focused, so I didn’t bother her. But she was the first to break the silence. “I’m 22.” She said, her eyes never leaving her work. I smiled and gazed at her. She peeked at me and once she saw I was looking, turned back to cleaning the blood. She was rather… cute when she was flustered.
“I’m 19.” I replied, making her twitch, the hand slightly grazing the stitching of the wound. I winced silently, and she apologized hurriedly, her hand grasping mine on instinct. “I’m sorry!” She squeezed my hand, her other with the nappy as she resumed cleaning. “I was just surprised. You look older.” I laughed slightly at that, making my whole body shake as she stopped what she was doing, scared that she might hurt me. I muttered an apology.
“Well, you surprised me too, I thought you were younger.” I could see her bite her lip as she finished the last spot of blood. She finally sat up straighter, and grabbed clean bandages from the bag resting near the bed. “Sit up.” She ordered, and I did so, trying hard not to strain the stitches. Her gaze got distracted once again but this time she snapped out of it herself.
She wrapped her hands around my torso and draped the bandage around the lower part of my abdomen, where the wound was. Her hands were still cold, which made me shiver at her touch. She perked up slightly but returned to wrapping the wound with multiple layers. Finally finishing, she met my gaze. We were standing rather close due to the intimate moment of her replacing the bandages, but our gazes didn’t waver.
“I like your freckles.” I commented, realizing how random that was. But her cute freckles were quickly hidden by the bright blush on her cheeks, as she pulled away from me and stood up. She reached for the bag and swung it over her shoulder. “Meet us in the kitchen.” She informed, before leaving the room without any other words.
I smiled. Finally putting my shirt back on, I stood up from the bed, fighting the urge to stretch. I grabbed my coat that was resting on of the chair and quickly put it on, finally ready to leave this room.
I had no idea what day it was today, it was around mid-day, I knew that much, but I had no idea how long it had passed since the car crash. As soon as I stepped inside what I thought the kitchen was, I was greeted by the smell of food, and the grumbling of my stomach agreed.
I didn’t take more than two steps before someone bumped into me. I almost had the instinct to fall, but whoever bumped into me was so light, that it felt like it was just a strong wind. “Oh no! I’m so sorry!” I looked to my side to see Sarita, she gasped slightly once she met my eye. “I didn’t hurt your wound, did I?” She started to panic, frantically inspecting for any sign of blood.
I shook my head, slightly laughing and ruffled her hair. She sighed contently. “I wasn’t really paying attention.” She muttered, her arms fighting some sort of urge as they curled into her chest. As soon as I smiled at her, she seemed to no longer resist to the urge as she hugged me contently.
She was so short that it was almost comical, her head only reached my stomach, but that didn’t seem to bother her. Finally pulling away, she coughed awkwardly before pulling me further into the kitchen. “Everyone was waiting for you, Emily told us you were fine now.” I nodded at her words, not resisting her dragging. When we turned a corner, I could see a dinner table, one of those that family use for Christmas dinners. It was so large that I didn’t find it surprising to see quite a few people seating around it.
The only off-putting thing was the two guns on the table. “Hey, she’s here.” An elderly woman said, pointing at me with an open palm. Her skin was oddly pale, and behind her, where she sat, was a man, clenching his hands around her seat as he glared at me furiously. I could see I wasn’t wanted here by this man.
Emily sat at the farthest seat on the table, looking quite disconnected from everyone. But once she glanced at me I saw her sigh inaudible. I could see Bill, sitting close to the elderly woman, his hands gently resting in front of him, one on top of the other. For some reason, it brought me a sense of comfort. He smiled at me encouragingly.
“Go on sit. Don’t be shy.” Bill offered, standing up and pulling a chair for me. Both the elderly woman and the man behind her seemed to not appreciate this gesture as Sarita helped me to my seat. After Bill sat down, Sarita sitting next to me, I thanked them both.
“Where’s Jamie?” I asked, glancing around as I searched for him. “He went to the bathroom apparently. There’s a few people missing.” Emily responded. I quirked an eyebrow at this. Bill seemed to be eager to continue. “Well, you already know Em and me-“ “It’s Emily.” “This is Evelyn and Alan.” He pointed at the woman in front of me and the man standing. Neither replied. “This is our house. We’re an honest family.” Bill continued, but Alan growled barbarically as Evelyn seemed to click her tongue at Bill.
“You’re a family?” I pointed to all of them, but Emily shook her head ever so gently. “No no, Miss Evelyn is the mother of Alan and Billy!” Sarita replied from my side, her legs seemingly swinging from her childish eagerness. And the oddest thing happened. Evelyn beamed at the girl, almost as if she had always been this optimistic. “Yes, that’s right dear.” Evelyn replied, only staring at Sarita. And the girl giggled. Alan pouted as Bill laughed nervously.
“Though, I’d like to think that everyone in this house is our family now.” Bill held his hands as if praying. I swore that Alan could not turn redder. “Stop with this bullshit Billy! We only took them in because it benefitted us.” Alan pointed accusingly at his brother. “I did it with good intentions.” Bill didn’t seem bothered by his brother’s outburst. “Well you ain’t the owner here little bro!” Alan laughed, his voice raspy as he stomped towards the apparently younger man.
“Enough!” Emily stood up, her hands banging strongly on the table. Sarita jolted as Evelyn sat there, ignoring everything that was happening. The two brothers stopped as Alan regained his composure, still standing behind his mother. Emily sat back down, slowly as she dared anyone to try something.
She finally glanced at me, groaning in displeasure. “We have Madeline, the doctor, and Alex. Both left to help someone but they’ll soon be back.” She started again and I nodded. “We also have Junior, but he’s been gone for a while, we don’t think he’s coming back.” She looked down at the table in melancholy.
Then, Jamie seemed to pop out of a second door near the hallway I had come from. He rubbed his hands on his shirt before he glanced at everyone. His eyes finally landing on me. “Thank god you’re okay.” He rushed towards me and pulled me into a tight hug. I hugged him back reluctantly as he pulled away, ignoring everyone’s eyes on us. Sarita cooed ever so slightly as Emily coughed purposely.
Jamie embarrassedly apologized as he stood near me, a protective arm holding my chair. Almost like what Alan was doing to his mother. “Before we agree to help you…” Emily continued, eyeing Jamie with distaste. She didn’t seem to like him very much. “You need to give us information about you.” Emily’s expression turned serious, she examined the gun by her side for only a few seconds before turning back to us.
Jamie groaned and squeezed my shoulder a bit. “I’m Jamie Rodrigues. This is Annabelle Blackwood.” He pointed at me. Emily seemed to furrow her eyebrows at this, as well as Bill. Sarita listened attentively. “We don’t know much about this kid here.” Jamie pointed at the smaller girl beside me. She smiled nervously at the attention as they waited for her introduction.
“I’m Sarita Farah Diaz.” She carefully announced. Evelyn seemed to nod enthusiastically. “I was searching for my Mamma down on the road. She said for me to wait at the camp, but she took so long, I thought something bad had happened to her.” Sarita chewed on her nails. “Have you seen her?” She inquired desperately.
“What’s her name sweetie?” Evelyn asked. “Lolla! She’s very pretty and has long brown hair. She had my baby brother on her belly too.” Sarita explained. And I could see from her expression that she was trying to recall for any useful details. “How old are you dear?” Bill added. “I’m 10! But- my Momma! S-She went to get some ice cream I think, I’m not sure.” Sarita’s voice grew in volume.
“Who else was in your camp?” Emily inquired. Sarita seemed to shake her head in frustration. “I don’t know! Papa was there I think, but he didn’t care so I left him.” Her voice seemed to carry a bit of anger. I tried to calm her down with a hand on her shoulder. She noticed this and backed down slightly, her eyes almost watering. “I’m sure your mother isn’t far then.” I replied. Sarita took a deep breath and smiled at me, grateful for my words, she looked a bit hopeful now.
“And you two lovers?” Alan asked, his tone mocking. Jamie chuckled slightly, squeezing my shoulder tighter. “We aren’t-“ I tried denying it but Jamie interrupted me. “We were practicing shooting some targets down at the old Willow river.” He started. This seemed to perk everyone to their senses. But still Emily glanced at me as if a bit worried, but if she was, she didn’t show it for long as she paid attention to what Jamie was saying.
“I’m a police officer, fought in the war too. Ann is the daughter of my boss actually.” He laughed a bit as he continued. “While we were taking a break from all the shooting we encountered some weird people. They wanted to attack us but we managed to get in the car and run away.” Jamie hesitated. “And how did you meet Sarita?” Emily asked. “We found her on the road, I almost didn’t see her but luckily I managed to turn the wheel in time. And that’s how we had the inconvenient car crash.” Jamie replied, as if he was telling a joke. My stomach itched slightly once the memories came back.
“How did you not get hurt then?” Alan interrogated. “Lucky I guess…” Jamie shrugged. Sarita leaned towards me, as if she wanted to say something, but she didn’t. Instead, she grabbed my hand and squeezed it for comfort. I rubbed circles with my thumb to soothe her.
“So, you’re both together?” Emily tried bringing the subject back. I went to reply but Jamie’s grip on my shoulder strengthened as a warning. “Yes.” He answered. Emily only shook her head. “No. I want to hear it from Annabelle.” She pointed at me carefully, her eyes digging deeper into Jamie’s skull. I could feel Jamie start to get angry, shaking ever so slightly as his nails started digging into my shoulder. He was obviously warning me to go along with it, and I didn’t want to find out what he would do if I didn’t.
I nodded nervously as Emily’s frown grew. She hesitated to continue but the subject seemed to drop as Bill started to explain the rules of the house. Along with some cynical remarks from Alan.
“So how can we help you?” Bill asked, after summarising the rules. He clapped his hands together and smiled brightly. “Well I want to find my Momma.” Sarita replied, crossing her arms on top of the table. Bill nodded as Evelyn did the same. “I want an explanation at what’s happening!” Jamie seemed to demand. Bill nodded his head at him as well though Emily seemed to not like Jamie’s tone. “I just want to find my dad. He might be searching for me.” I replied and Bill nodded at me too.
“Sarita sweetie.” Bill started and Sarita glanced at him attentively. “We will do our best to find your mother, okay?” And she smiled happily. “Annabelle.” He turned to me and I nodded my head slightly for him to continue. “We’ll find you father no biggie. If he’s really the sheriff of the town maybe he’ll find you first.” He laughed and I smiled grateful. “Jamie… Yours is really easy to answer.” Bill glanced at him.
I could see Emily cross her arms from the corner of my eyes. Jamie seemed to detect that she was the one who was going to answer this for him, so he fully turned to her. Bill sat more comfortably. “These people you said that attacked you… They’re dead.” She explained. Jamie blinked ever so slowly, trying to process what she said as I raised both of my eyebrows in question. “These people died and came back, they aren’t smart like us. They only want to eat, they’re cannibals. That’s why, if you’re bit“ I swore she squinted her eyes at Jamie. “you will turn into them, which means we have to kill you before you do.” Jamie jolted, shivered and then made a disgusted face. “That’s…” “Sick.” I finished for him. We both exchanged looks, happy to agree on something.
“Yes. It’s the end of the world as we know it. It’s been going on for almost two months now.” Bill added. “What?! Two months?!” I asked, and Bill simply nodded. “Since we’re in a small town we got the word too late.” He continued. I bit my lip, trying to understand if this is even reality. “How did this happen?” Jamie asked.
“A disease I believe. Some kind of weird Virus. We all have it.” Emily answered calmly. “After we die, the virus takes effect and we’re no longer us.” “And you die if you get bit too.” Alan included roughly. “Pappa talked about this.” Sarita said, all of a sudden in her own world. “He said the undead would come and kill the sinners.” “Sarita-“ Bill tried. “I’m not a bad person, I didn’t do anything wrong!” Sarita whimpered. “No one’s saying that darling. I know you’re a very kind girl.” Evelyn tried calming her down. Sarita breathed and shoved her head in the nest of her crossed arms, I caressed her head for a bit and turned to Emily.
“This is all very sudden.” I sigh and she nodded. “We should all eat. Mother helped with the cooking today so I bet it’s going to be delicious!” Bill stood up and started to bring the food that I had a whiff of before. Evelyn seemed to ignore what he said but despite that, we all ate well, even Sarita cheered up and complimented the food.
Jamie sat down and only made small talk, he whispered to me a lot, apologizing about earlier and telling me that everything would fine. Alan didn’t say a word, only grumbled under his breath to criticise his brother. Evelyn spoke generously to everyone but she obviously shinned when talking to Sarita, while Emily only spoke when necessary, mostly just watching everyone. Bill was noticeably the most talkative as he tried to include everyone in the conversation, keeping the topic light.
We all finished the food quickly, but Emily seemed to want my attention as Jamie kept pulling me towards him. After we settled in, Billy helped us with our rooms and offered to stay watch for today along with his brother, who complained dramatically. But it was night now, and I dreaded that I had to share a bed with Jamie.
“Annabelle.” Emily called, trying hard to catch me when Jamie wasn’t nearby. Jamie though, was very attentive, so he quickly noticed it and scowled at her. “What do you want?” He asked but she glared at him before ignoring him. “I want to see how your wound is.” She mentioned and I nodded, happy to have an excuse to move away from Jamie. The young soldier only seemed to get angrier as he tried to protest that he should go too. Bill came to the rescue, asking Jamie help that he couldn’t refuse, so he finally left us be.
“Thanks.” I replied to the girl. She simply pulled me along to another room (How big is this house?) and closed the door. “Jesus, he’s persistent.” She mumbled, groaning as she sat on the bed. “Are you really going to check on my wound?” I asked. “No. Maddie will be here soon.” She answered, a soft smile coming to her face. It was the first time I saw her smile, which was already weird in the first place, but the smile suited her better.
“I want to ask you, and you have to answer truthfully.” She rose up from her seat and carefully approached me. “Are you and Jamie in a romantic relationship?” She asked clearly. I took a second to breathe cautiously and then to lick my dry lips. Telling her the truth might help me, but Jamie really didn’t do anything wrong. And I’m scared of what he might do if I don’t obey him. “Yes.” I replied as clearly as she did. She seemed to examine me for a second, but the door knocked, interrupting whatever she was thinking of. I could hear a different voice from the other side of the door, a feminine one.
“Em? Are you in there?” The voice asked. “Yes.” Emily replied. The door opened gently as I glanced at who it was. A tall girl stood there, her clothes seemed slightly ripped but oddly professional. She looked mature and very graceful. “Oh! Is that Annabelle? Are you feeling better?” She quickly rushed towards me, her hands reaching for the hem of my shirt as she pulled ever so slightly. The dressings of the wound were still there and Emily looked away for some reason.
“Are you Madeline?” I asked and she chuckled lightly. Her voice melodic, she had the voice of someone who knew how to sing. “Very nice to meet you. And did Emily replace your binding?” I only just noticed, but she had an accent, only a slight bit of British accent. “Yes.” I replied. Madeline glanced at Emily and seemed amused at the way the girl was avoiding the scene. “Is it alright?” I asked. “Yes, besides the poor procedure of replacing the bandage everything seems fine.” Her tone was playfully as she stared at Emily. Finally letting my shirt drop she smiled at me. “Emily talked a lot about you.” I commented, smiling back at her. “Only good things I hope.” The doctor laughed again.
Emily finally turned, noticing how Madeline had stopped investigating my wound. “Is Alex here too?” She asked. “Yes. They’re in the kitchen I believe, talking to Billy.” Madeline replied. “Alex?” I inquired, feeling out of the conversation. “They’re one of the best in the group. They went with me to help out a patient.” “They?” “Alex feels more comfortable with that pronoun.” Emily explained and I nodded understandably. “So, tell me, why is a cute girl, such as yourself, in this horrifying mess?” Madeline asked.
I laughed at her attempt as Emily seemed embarrassed for her. “Your boyfriend didn’t tell me much. He kept rambling about the sick.” “My boyfriend?” I asked. “Jamie.” Emily replied and I did a silent gasp. Emily seemed suspicious of this but remained silent as Madeline waited for my answer.
“We were just practicing some shooting…” “By we, I assume you and your boyfriend.” Madeline interrupted, Emily seemed to glance at her quizzically, as if she wasn’t sure what she was getting at. “Y-Yes. But then we some of those sick people. And they tried biting us but Jamie managed to get us in the car and we left.” I explained. Madeline nodded and Emily sighed.
“And that’s when you got into the car crash, I take it?” Madeline asked, I nodded. “Have you asked this boy, Jamie, how he survived with no scratch?” Madeline seemed to be asking this to Emily, but Emily thoughtfully placed a finger at her chin, something that made me smile. “Yes. He simply said he was lucky. But I don’t believe him.” Emily glanced at me in hopes that I had reacted poorly. But I bit my bottom lip and looked away.
“I might just be theorising but…” Madeline placed a hand on her hip and turned to me. “There’s something you’re not telling us luv’.” She finished, and I gulped drily. Emily paced towards me and I – out of instinct – stepped back. Until I had my back against the wall. Emily threateningly slammed the wall beside me, making me shriek.
“Now Em, calm down.” Madeline leaned towards the smaller girl, placing a territorial arm around the girl’s waist. The other didn’t really seem to react to it. “If we can’t trust you, you’re out.” Emily warned, and I gulped once again. Madeline shook her head and gazed at me, her eyes stern.
“I do believe we need to know the full story luv’.” She added. My knees shivered from peer-pressure. I wasn’t sure if telling them was the right thing, but I really needed a friend right now. My father is possibly gone, the only person I know here besides my dad is Jamie, and I’m scared of him.
Oh, that’s right. I’m scared of Jamie. I’m scared of the things he would do to me if I disagree with him. “Annabelle!” Jamie’s voice suddenly broke my train of thoughts, the burst of the door and the groan from Emily. He was here, and I wasn’t sure if I was happy to see him or not.
“I knew you were up to no good!” He growled at Emily, but the girl avoided his eyes, as if she was disappointed. “And you? Really?” He pushed Madeline and Emily away from me and pulled me close to him. “Jesus, Ann did nothing wrong.” Jamie seemed to mutter and Madeline glared at the boy, but after a quick blink, she gave him a soft smile.
“We apologize Sir. Please, it’s almost night, you two should get some rest.” Madeline gave him an apologetic wave and Jamie scowled at her. But he said no more, he gently grabbed my shoulder and dragged me along to our room. But before we left, I spared a glance at both Emily and Madeline, our eyes meeting as I thought that maybe, I should’ve told them.

B R O K E N  &  S C A T T E R E D ~ #11
A/N: Finally got to this! So this takes place during the rebel attack from Cress, but when it comes to and end, kind of the aftermath I guess. Immediately after tho, that same day. Ft. Cole and Haiden. (As always thanks for the RP @haidenschreave ) Includes my brotps and Colleen realizing stuff. Third person narrative cause it fit better.
Cole walked through the hallways as best he could, the sound of his heart pumping in his ears while he struggled to keep Aileen up on his arms. Her unconscious body was limp against his chest and her dress was now stained with blood as well.
He needed to get to the hospital wing, but he wasn’t even close to getting there when he noticed someone standing inside a random room.
Even with no idea of why the guy was there, Cole staggered in, knowing he couldn’t keep it up, and convinced himself that anyone would be better help than empty halls.
The person turned around as soon as he heard the footsteps—rather on edge after everything that had happened that day—and Cole barely managed to recognize him with the lightheaded feeling he had. “Hai-Haiden?”
“Cole?” he stared at him with a frown before he saw who the slump body on his arms was. His distant posture was suddenly replaced with alarm when his eyes locked on the blood stains in her clothes. “W-What happened? Is she okay?” Haiden walked over to them, panic threatening to erupt in his chest at the thought of losing her too, but before he could reach them Cole’s knees buckled, refusing to hold him and Aileen both up any longer.
“Yeah, thankfully. She—” he took a deep breath “she’s unconscious, but she’s okay.” When he’d seen her body plummet to the ground initially he’d felt something inside him break, but her pulse was fine and it seemed the hit had only knocked her out.
He slowly placed her on the ground and Haiden kneeled in front of her, pressing a hand against her cheek with relief. “Thank God.” That’s when he noticed Cole’s troubled breathing echoing in the room and looked back up at him. “A-Are you okay?”
“Uh,” he struggled to focus as the whole room seemed to spin. Gunshot, Cole. He placed a hand to his wound. “Let’s just say the blood on her dress isn’t her own.” He mumbled, reaching for the nearby wall, hoping it would help the room come to a halt. “Just peachy.”
Haiden stared down at the bloody spot he held onto and clenched his jaw. “You need to get to a hospital.”
“Sure, how did I not think of that?” he stumbled to the wall with ragged breathing and realized his own sarcasm. “Sorry, I didn’t mean—I just—”
“I’ll get someone from Aileen, I’ll help you. Come on, I…lost people today. I don’t want to lose you too.”
Under different circumstances Cole would have paid more attention to the sentiment that sentence carried, but his mind could only take so much in.  I lost people. He thought of the first shot fired in the ballroom, all the blood on the floor, “Aunt Alize… Haiden…I’m really sorry.” He shut his eyes in another attempt to make his thoughts align, but failed. Everything was a mess and people had been killed. “Oh God…”
“D-Don’t think about it. Let’s go.”
“I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
“Why not?”
Cole winced in pain as he tried to shift and his breathing turned shallow. “I don’t think…I can walk.”
Haiden placed a hand on his shoulder. “Where does it hurt?”
“Everywhere.”
“Do you remember what happened?” Haiden hoped he could keep Cole talking long enough to learn why they’d been so far away from help.
“Yeah, w-we were dancing, and she looked like an angel…” he’s thoughts drifted to the way her smile made her eyes crinkle, and how he wanted to memorize every single one of her freckles like he once did the constellations—but then he shook his head and continued, trying to even out his breathing. “And then umm, the shots began…and you went after that psycho girl” his wound stung and he clutched it tighter with a grunt “s-so we followed… and—my head is killing me.” He couldn’t finish the story with the constant pulsing inside his head.
As gently as possible, Haiden made him lie down. “Look at me, Cole.” But he didn’t. He kept staring at the ceiling breathing in pain. “Look at me.”
Cole closed his eyes. Focus, don’t go into shock. “What?” he looked up at his cousin and saw the hesitation written on his face.
“Y-You remember when we first played soccer, right?”
Letting out a breathy laugh Cole nodded “Yeah.”
“I remember seeing a scrawny kid who couldn’t kick the ball straight. But, you know, everyone was mesmerized by you.”
Between coughs he stared back at the ceiling. “By what…my horrible aim?”
Haiden shook his head. “This little kid who would not give up. You’d fall and get grass stains on your clothes. You were slow and clumsy, but everyone wanted to see you succeed.”
Lies. “I doubt you did.”
“No, I did. And that’s why I couldn’t stand you.”
“What does—” Cole paused, trying to hold in a grunt as his chest flared with pain. “What are you talking about?”
“I wanted you to succeed and that’s what I hated. Even I knew back then I’d loathe you, but you’d be who I’d aspire to be.”
“That—” That doesn’t make any sense…  Why would he want to be like him? Cole couldn’t understand with the growing pain on his chest and the relentless pumping inside his ears, both accompanied by his increasingly rapid breathing. “You’re the Heir—you—you’re nice to people—and regal.” He gritted his teeth and shook his head. Nothing made sense to him, and no matter how hard he tried, it felt like none of the air he inhaled made it to his lungs. Why was Haiden even still helping him? “Why—why are you doing this?” He started hyperventilating, shock finally creeping its way in.
“You’re not allowed to die, Cole.”
He ignored the comment, clutching his wound again. “Y-you hate me—” His mind kept telling him it didn’t make sense for him to still be there
Haiden grabbed Cole’s face and gave him a stern look. Determination weaved in his features. “You’re not allowed to die.”
“I can’t—” Cole struggled to make his eyes focus on Haiden’s face, his chest violently rising and falling with each intake of air.  “I can’t breathe.”
That’s when he heard the confused and absent mumbling of his name. He thought he was imagining it, but it was Aileen waking up.
She stood up, slowly taking in her surroundings while a headache settled in. “What…” she couldn’t remember her fight with the stray rebel or the shot she’d heard rung out before she passed out, but when her friend turned around to look at her with horror she was even more lost. “Haiden?”
“A-Aileen?”
“What happened…” things seemed to go slowly for her, and it took her brain a moment to acknowledge the heavy breathing in the background. When she realized who it was she rushed over to his side, ignoring the nausea she felt as she moved. “Cole!”  She placed a hand on his cheek, registering his clammy skin and the paleness of his face. Hyperventilation wasn’t a good sign either. It was hard for her to concentrate and though she was not aware of the reason behind it, she still managed to recognize the symptoms and dread them. “He’s going into shock…”
“Aileen?” Cole winced, staring at her with difficulty and she could only rub a thumb over his cheekbone as a lump formed at her throat from the pain behind his eyes.
She gave Haiden a concerned glance. “He needs help—” she was hoping he could go get it, not wanting to leave Cole alone like this, but then her eyes caught on the sloppy bandage around Haiden’s leg. You could tell the injury had been treated correctly, but on a rush. She was too busy thinking about what to do and how much time remained to even try and figure out what had happened to him. The last thing she remembered was she’d been following Haiden—accompanied by Cole—after he’d gone after Cress…after the Queen had been shot.
However, there was no time for questions now and she pushed away the new wave of nausea that came over her. “You need to keep him conscious, and make sure his temperature stays the same.”
She began to stand up, a bit unsteadily, when Haiden stopped her. “Where are you going?”
“I’m going to get a doctor; we can’t move him like this.”
“W-Wait, you can’t leave,” she saw the panic in his eyes and felt pain for him. That was not how his birthday should have gone.
“Haiden, we need to get him help” she eyed his leg “fast.”
He seemed to accept it with a nod, letting out a deep breath. “Okay. Go, hurry.”
She tried to remember what her mother had taught her about emergencies like this—for once she thanked her for telling her all about the research she made for writing certain scenes. “Apply pressure to his wound” she said, running off, adrenaline taking over her “keep him alive!”
Once she was out of the room and in the hallways she tried to remember the fastest way to the hospital wing, yet had trouble concentrating with the ringing in her ears and the thought of Cole’s rapid breaths weakening as she left. Her eyes stung with the threat of tears and she was confused as to why. She trusted Haiden to do whatever he could to keep Cole alive, believing that no matter how much he refused to be civil with him, he must care for Cole the same way Cole did for him. Still, the thought of losing Cole made her heart shrink.
To her surprise she was tired a lot earlier than she should have been, and her headache persisted. She wondered if maybe she wasn’t going to be that much faster than a limping Haiden…but pushed through, determined, unaware that the impact her head had had against the wall in her fight with the rebel had caused some damage.
Cole barely registered the exchange Aileen had with Haiden as he lightly dozed off, feeling like he would faint any second. He only wished he’d had a bit more strength to make a joke when her head had hovered over his. Anything to get a smile on her face.
Meanwhile, Haiden bit his lip, worried he’d mess things up. He couldn’t mess things up. He couldn’t let Cole die; he would hate himself if he did.
Taking off his coat to apply pressure on the wound, as Aileen instructed, he tried to get his cousin’s attention again. “Look at me, Cole. It’ll be okay.”
Cole tried not to wince, clenching his hands into fists as the newly applied pressure appeared on his side. “That hurts.”
“You think I care? If it means saving your life, I’ll do anything.” He sounded annoyed, but Cole thought he heard some trembling in his voice.
“Why are you doing this?” he mumbled again, dizziness taking over him once more from the loss of blood. Haiden had once asked him a similar question and Cole didn’t need to think much about it, but now with the roles reversed he couldn’t understand why Haiden would want to help him.
“Because that’s what family’s for, asshole.”
Those were his words. Well, minus the asshole part. He recognized them from all those nights ago and frowned at Haiden, slurring as he tried to keep his eyes open. “You said…that meant nothing…”
I wouldn’t help you. No matter how much he tried to ignore them, he kept remembering Haiden’s words better than he wished.
“Maybe I changed my mind.”
“Why?”
“Because you’re my family.”
A weak smile spread across his face as he recognized the words coming out of Haiden’s mouth once more, trying to ignore the pain that still refused to leave his chest. “Did you really have to realize this w-when I’m about to die?”
“You’re not about to die.”
Cole felt the pressure of Haiden’s hands on his side, the stickiness of his own hand covered in blood, the sweat trickling down his face even though he’d now started shivering, his shallow breathing and lightheadedness. He felt like he was going to die.
“Haiden, I- I…” he swallowed and gasped for air “I don’t think…I can—” hang on much longer.  He just wanted to close his eyes and rest.
“Shut up, Cole. J-Just…” Haiden felt panic again as he saw Cole slowly lose consciousness. Keep him alive, Aileen’s words echoed in his head and he grasped at anything that he thought would remotely keep him going. “What about Aileen?”
Cole glanced at him lazily. “What?”
“You… you’re in love with her, aren’t you?”
“I…” he paused before denying it. Did he love her? He definitely cared for her in more ways than he’d like to admit. “What makes you think that?”
“I watch you. It’s so obvious.”
“That’s not— she’s in the Selection. It doesn’t matter.” He shook his head slowly. “I shouldn’t have liked her…I-I’m sorry.” He didn’t want any more troubles with Haiden or his Selection. His father had caused enough drama himself in the past one, so he’d avoided it since the beginning.
“Cole, I don’t love her. We’re friends, just friends. If she… wants you, then I have no problem with you pursuing her.”
“You don’t?” He found that hard to believe. How could he not fall for someone like her when he could? “Still…it was your Selection.”
“It’s not like I own them. And I love Aileen. She’s my best friend. If you’re what she wants, then why should I keep her away from you?”
“I… don’t even know if I am what she wants.”
“Well, you’ll never know if you die, right?”
Cole laughed between coughs and stared at him before wincing and looking back at the ceiling. “I-I’m really tired.” All of it had drained him.
“Well, you’re not allowed to go to sleep.”
Cole sighed. “Thanks for the reminder.”
Haiden freaked out when Cole stopped breathing. He yelled at him to wake up, shaking his shoulder frantically. This can’t be happening. He looked for a pulse and found it, which confused him even further.
That’s when he heard Aileen’s voice yelling from afar. “I’m here!” She appeared a few seconds later on the doorway. Not carrying anything herself, and still filled with adrenaline, she’d made it through the hallway faster than the medics.
Haiden let out a breath of relief once more. “Aileen, thank God, he—he passed out. I-I couldn’t stop it.”
She ran over to him with alarm and kneeled, quickly placing a hand on Cole’s neck, searching for a pulse. Passing out doesn’t mean fatal yet. She found it just like Haiden had before, but weak from the low blood pressure. “Why is he not breathing?”
“I-I don’t know. He just became like this.”
“What! How long?” she reached for Cole’s limp hand and accidentally grabbed the one covered in blood. She clenched her jaw and stared at the dark red liquid in horror, mumbling his name. She dared not look at the actual wound.
“Save him. Please.” Haiden was pleading and she looked at him with consternation. The ringing she’d felt in her ears while running through the hallways become louder. She couldn’t lose Cole.
“I-I…” The doctors came in, saving her from having to think of a solution herself.
She felt foggy as they asked them to step away, but before she could even register the request a hand grasped her arm and pulled her aside into a hug.
“Thank God you’re okay.” Haiden’s voice was barely a whisper over her ear, his hands wrapped around her, as if trying to shelter her from everything else.
She only stood there, feeling the remains of Cole’s blood on her hand and remembering Queen Alize falling to the ground as she was shot. The Queen. Haiden’s mother. Here she was crying over someone who wasn’t even her family. She felt selfish, but her worry for Cole did not leave her. “I-I’m sorry.” Her eyes welled up with tears.
“Sh, don’t talk yet.” his voice was gentle, but Aileen couldn’t listen to him.
“I’m really sorry” she finally wrapped her arms around his torso, crying as she pulled him closer. “Things shouldn’t have been like this…”
“No… they shouldn’t. And it makes me think that we only have so much time on this earth,” he began, cupping her cheek, “So don’t spend it wondering what could have been.”
She didn’t know Haiden sensed her feelings for Cole—feelings that she herself was barely starting to understand—so tears just streamed down her cheeks as she stared at how the doctors hauled Cole on a stretcher out of the room to take him to the medical wing. “You shouldn’t have gone after Cress…we were worried you’d get yourself killed.”
Haiden shook his head, trying to forget about that decision himself. “That doesn’t matter anymore.”
Aileen wiped her tears away.  “It does matter, Haiden. If something like this happens again I don’t want you to get hurt” she felt her emotions railing out of her grasp. It was just too much to take in at once. Normally she would have been able to handle it, but the hit she’d taken to her head had scrambled things up. She took a step back, placing a hand over her forehead as the headache returned. “W-What if both of you had been shot? What would I have done then?”
“It’ll be okay, Aileen. It’s over.”
“Over?” she paused, trying her best to focus, then glanced down at her dress, gulping at the strains Cole’s blood had left on her side when he’d carried her. “W-We don’t even know if he’ll be okay…”
“He’ll be okay. The doctors won’t let another Schreave die today.” Haiden clenched his jaw and managed to hold her concerned gaze for long enough before staring at his feet.
She shut her eyes and rubbed them, feeling suddenly tired again. He lost someone, what’s wrong with you? “I shouldn’t be like this with you, I’m sorry. I don’t feel like myself right now.”
“It’s… terrifying when someone you love is dying. Don’t be sorry.”
“No, that’s why it’s not fair. You’re being nice and understanding and what happened today—I should be doing the same with you.” Why wasn’t she? There was a simple answer she wasn’t aware about.
“We’re all different. It’s okay.”
“I-I’m glad you’re okay too.” She walked back him, intending to hug him again, but stopped to close her eyes when she felt the floor beneath her tilt.
Haiden frowned at her unbalance and took the step to her himself. “Are… are you okay?”
“Um,” it took her a moment to find the right words. “Yeah… I’ve just seen a bit dizzy. The headache isn’t helping.”
“Do you know what happened? Did you hurt yourself?”
“I-I don’t remember much of what happened after we encountered that rebel…” she reached for his arm to steady herself.
“Have you seen a doctor?”
“Well, I just saw a bunch just now, what do you mean?”
He raised an eyebrow at her. “Did you hit your head?”
“I…” She paused, unable to remember the way she’d tackled the stray rebel to stop him from shooting Cole. She’d managed to save him from an instantly fatal hit, but afterward had been shoved into the wall with force. “I’m not sure…maybe?”
Haiden didn’t like the sound of that. “Come on, let’s walk to the hospital.”
She followed him with unsteady footsteps. “Didn’t Cole say what happened exactly?”
“It seems like no one knows.”
“Hmm, well in his defense he was probably slightly delirious from the blood loss.” She frowned at the ceiling, her thoughts jumping to a completely different line of conversation. A vague realization with her currently scattered concentration, which barely grazed the roots of her true feelings. “I think I like him. Are you sure you still hate him?”
“I’m not sure of anything right now. But he’ll be okay. Have you… heard from anyone?”
She started to shake her head in response—then decided not to add to her lack of balance and stopped. “I was too busy finding the doctors to recognize anyone else. I don’t think I saw any of the girls near them though…so that’s good.”
“Thank God.”
“Are you… particularly worried about someone else?”
“Maybe” he mumbled, giving her a sideways glance, knowing that she still wondered who could be the girl he’d started liking. “I’m glad…everyone is okay. Or almost.”
“Me too.” She let it pass without asking more. He’d tell her when he was ready. “I know I’ll be out next week, but would it be too awful if I sneaked in every now and then?” She half-joked with a wary grin. She wanted to be able to talk with him, and Naomi, and Mila…and Cole.
You better be alive when I get there you dimwit.
Haiden brought her back from her mental scolding. “You should stay. Not here, but close, you know? In Angeles.”
“I will,” she realized she’d forgotten to tell him that was exactly the plan. “My parents will be back here soon anyway, I might as well stay. Don’t forget we promised to gossip…” she stared at back at the hallway thoughtfully “I’m pretty sure we did at least.”
He laughed softly. “We better. And you promised to make me try on the purple suit.”
Aileen squeezed his hand with a smile, “Yes, that too. Also…” a wave of nausea came over her once more and she stumbled “you said you’d give Cole a chance.”
Haiden reached out in time to give her support with his arms and she tightened her grip around them. “Aileen…” he gently set her down on the ground and held her head.
She in turn tried to focus on his face. “I-I’m sorry, I don’t understand what’s wrong. Don’t worry about it…I’m just tired.”
“You probably have a concussion or something. You said you hit your head, right?”
“Um, I…I think so?” she still couldn’t remember, but the prince was right as to why. The impact to her head had given her a mild concussion. That had caused most of her unsteadiness, lethargy, lack of focus, and slightly off behavior. “We’re almost to the hospital, aren’t we?” She tried to stand up, nevertheless regretted it as soon as she did, sitting down again. Haiden was silent for a moment, unsure of what he should do.
He wanted to believe she would be fine, but also wanted her to get help soon as possible. Just in case. He’d taken enough risks for one day. That’s how, ignoring his leg injury, he resolved in hoisting her up into his arms and began walking. Aileen closed her eyes so her head would stop spinning and nuzzled her head against his chest with fatigue.
“Doesn’t your leg hurt?” she wondered with a drowsy mumble.
He went slowly and limped slightly, but didn’t emit a sound of pain, not wanting to worry her any more than necessary. “Yeah, but… it doesn’t matter anymore.” If Cole could carry her with an open shotgun wound he sure as hell would do it with a patched up leg.
“I’m sorry…” she felt like a burden, yet refused to doze off into sleep as she listened to Haiden’s heartbeat. “You’re a good friend, you know?”
He looked down at her, part of him not believing her words. “Shh, you have to stay awake for me. Just until you see the doctor.”
She barely registered his request. “Do you think I’m a good friend?”
“Of course you are.” She was one of the few friends he actually had.
That brought a faint smile to her face. “Do you know what your present was?”
“No.”
“It’s a-” it took her a moment to recollect her words “a photo album. I included all of the pictures I took since the Selection started. Of you, the other girls, the palace…” a mischievous grin appeared on her face “there’s a couple of Cole, perfect for blackmail. He looks adorable when he thinks no one’s looking.”
In that moment, though she could only vaguely remember it on her state, her mind went to the first picture she’d ever taken of Cole—as soon as he’d seen the camera pointed at his face he’d shoved it aside, Aileen had almost dropped it, and in revenge had pushed him into the fountain where she finally got the chance to snap the picture—it was one of her favorites. His wet hair flopped on his forehead and, even though he’d wished to scowl at her, a radiant smile had spread across his face. She’d kept the original picture.
“I can’t wait to see it.” Haiden grinned, and she finally opened her eyes to look at him.
“I hope you like it…” her hazy thoughts drifted back to Cole and she felt his dry blood on her hand, her smile wavering. “Y-You really think he’ll be okay?”
“Of course he will be. We have the best doctors in Illéa.”
“Right” she nodded sluggishly—wishing she could close her eyes and sleep—but not wanting to leave Haiden carrying her through silent halls. “Will you be okay?”
“I will. Somehow.”
It sounded like the truth, yet…“You’re not allowed to lie to me anymore.”
“I’m not lying.”
Her eyelids felt heavy. “Promise?”
“Promise.”
“Good.” She nodded again, closing her eyes. “You’re really comfy, you know.”
“You’re delirious.”
“I’m just tired.” She felt like she’d already mentioned it a hundred times.
“Well, we’re almost there, so too bad.”
She ignored his comment and wearily poked his chest without opening her eyes. “You’re the delirious one who refuses to fix things with his own sister. She didn’t even look you in the eye once today.”
“Elaine and I needed some time apart. Even now it’s best to stay away because she doesn’t like to be smothered. But as soon as I can, I’ll fix it.”
She snuggled on his arms again, giving up on staying awake. “Advice from the girl with a brother: don’t force it, but at least show her you care.”
“Duly noted.”
They arrived at the hospital a minute or so later and the medics rushed to help, a man taking Aileen out of his arms as Haiden slumped on a chair, explaining what he knew and suspected to have happened. His leg throbbed, but he ignored it, just watching how a nurse did her best to gently wake Aileen into awareness again.
She slowly came back to her senses and replied to whatever they asked her. Haiden could tell she seemed confused and uncertain by some of the questions, but the doctors didn’t seem alarmed. Her eyes however, kept wandering around the room every so often as if she expected to see someone. He was pretty sure Cole was that someone.
Cole…he sighed, standing up to approach a nurse, cursing in his head at the idiot for getting hurt. The nurse averted her gaze and explained he was still being attended to, yet stressed that it did not mean he was in any particular danger, and that he just needed to be stabilized, most likely requiring some monitoring after that as well. Haiden felt relieved, though still a bit concerned, then he nodded and the nurse continued with something else.
He stayed to make sure Aileen would be fine—and also, though he wouldn’t admit it, to wait and see if he’d receive any more news regarding his cousin—by the end of it all. Aileen was finally allowed to sleep. The doctors confirmed it to be a concussion and she’d been napping for a while when Haiden noticed Elaine arguing with a guard from afar.  Her arm was bandaged, but besides that she seemed okay. As for the guard, he was unharmed. Haiden was pretty sure it was Nathan, a second generation in the guard that his sister had befriended when younger.
He tried not to stare much, but he still saw the way Nathan looked at his sister, and the way he reached for her hand with a pained expression, mumbling something as she looked the other way with a slight nod.
Haiden watched him leave and then glanced back at Elaine. Her shoulders slumped as she sighed and hugged herself, staring down at the floor beneath her.
Maybe it was time to fix things and show he cared.

IC
Basic information
Name: Tweek Tweak. Pronouns: He/ Him. Age: 22. Appearance: 5'6, of mostly Italian decent with a bit of Turkish, freckles sprinkled across nose and cheeks with the occasional random freckle here and there. Heterochromia iridis in both eyes, blue with spots of hazel brown. Pale with an olive complexion. Personality: Tweek, at first glance, is an anxiety ridden mess of emotions. However, there is far more to him than meets the eye. He is fiercely loyal with a strong sense of justice, ready to protect those he deems his friends at all costs. He is also stubborn and hot-headed with a tendency towards pettiness at those who have crossed him. Though his personality usually borders on intense, he does have the occasional moment of softness as well. Basic human decency (such as being told he is capable or having his problems actually listened to) means the world to him as it’s something he has never truly experienced before due to his parents failure in properly caring for him. When particularly freaked out he has a bad habit of coming across in a rather blunt manner, blurting out his thoughts without even thinking. He is also a hard worker, though he isn’t particularly fond of the stress of it.
Music/Career/Etc (If the character chosen is either in PCT or TDP, some of these informations can be left blank unless you’d like to add more)
Band or independent: Band Instruments played: Piano Role in the band: Vocals, piano, composer
If crew member: N/A
Band/artists associated with: TDP Role: Composer Speciality: Creating Music
Headcanons OR writing sample: 1. When he was 12 he shaved his head so he wouldn’t be able to pull at his hair anymore. He also did this so he could allow his scalp to heal from all the abuse he had done to it. Since then his hair has grown back, but he still likes to keep it relatively short. 2. He disowned himself from his family after discovering the secret behind their business, and has not spoken to them since leaving. 3. His skin is not great as he struggles with self care and constantly picks/scratches at it. He uses bandaids and bandages to cover up any fresh wounds. 4. He loves working with his hands as it helps with his anxiety and allows him to focus his mind elsewhere. 5. He uses music as a way to cope, as shown in Put it Down, and likes to create his own music. 6. He is a commercial music major. 7. He has scoliosis, achy joints, and chronic nosebleeds. Writing Sample: Uneven teeth chew restlessly at chapped lips as a pair of mismatched eyes move to scan the area for what was probably the hundredth time that minute. It had been at least an hour or so since his last tremor and he was beginning to feel something akin to what one might call…pride? Unfortunately, the feeling did not last, as a bag of coffee grounds toppling over from within the back room caused him to erupt into a violent convulsion, immediately shaking him of all previous feelings of euphoria. So much for that… “GAH! What was that!?” he frantically spun around, eyeing the back door as if it were the entrance to the gates of hell rather than just the stuffy, dimly lit room he had spent a majority of his childhood in. “Oh god, oh jesus…. I knew this would happen- AHH! Why do they keep making me stay here so late, man. They know I can’t handle it!” He knits his eyebrows together in frustration, deseperately trying to take hold of the overbearing anxious energy that was currently plaguing him. It would all be over soon. That’s just what he had to keep telling himself. There was no reason to get so worked up over a little noise.
