I just spent like 5 hours trying to make a carrd thing for commissions and idk I just don't understand how the site works like if it works on mobile it doesn't work on pc and vice versa. I have no clue what to put on a tos or like a commission form I know what I will and won't draw. I just can't get this site to work. I need help with this... Maybe I'm too autistic for this site. May I present, my attempt at illustrating the last four pages of Tevinter Nights. 😁 (Also, the first time I'm posting art on here!)

On a personal note though, I can't believe I actually finished it... As it had been a *very* long time since I drew (and finished) anything, let alone a 31 page comic and reading Tevinter Nights again finally sparked my motivation (and the courage to post it lol). So I want to thank Patrick Weekes for helping me overcome this massive art block and over two decades of Case Closed mangas for inspiring me how to draw an overly dramatic "exposing the imposter" moment. 😂 I tried my best to be as faithful to the book as possible and it took me forever, so... hope you like it! :D

As you may know, I have recently deactivated my Twitter account. A lot of people are speculating I left because I was being harassed for drawing my older depiction of Bubbles from The Powerpuff Girls as chubby. However... that's not the direct reason I left. In fact, I didn't really see much of the comments of folks on there getting riled up about it as I muted the tweet the morning I saw that it blew up. I was only merely aware of it all by being told about it from friends, with there being some other users on the site making other really fuckin' stupid comments about my art.

This does however lead into why I actually left Twitter, and it's because of Twitter's overall toxic nature. Overtime, I've really gotten sick of how absolutely revolting Twitter has become to experience. The site is basically built around dunk culture and doom scrolling. You know that one tweet of someone making an example of Twitter's utter stupidity by using pancakes and waffles as an example?

I bring this up because I think this fits my point about how Twitter has this thing of assuming the absolute worst about the most insignificant things, even the most innocuous. The "Bubbles obesity" comments weren't the only stupid comments that came out of that post. I also got a quote retweet that I was "forcefully feminizing Buttercup", even though the whole fucking point of that drawing was to depict a usually tough character in an unusual situation for her. I have also gotten stupid comments on other drawings though, like the one where Mitch pushes Buttercup down for trying to look taller than she is and I got called a misogynist for it, though I'm pretty sure that one was bait (Twitter users have a tough time figuring out what is and isn't bait, it's dunk culture that I'm about to talk about really doesn't help this).

The site's dunk culture is also really fuckin' bad. Quote retweets are a disease, as unlike Tumblr's reblog comments, quote retweets count as a different post. Someone disagrees with you? Show your audience how stupid they are on your page! Hey, are you trying not to see the most abhorrent racist statement imaginable? Well TOO BAD FUCK YOU here's a le epic own giving them all the attention in the world even though one of the most common internet rules are DON'T FEED THE FUCKIN' TROLLS YOU IDIOT. Oh hey, are you trying to explain how you prefer a certain artistic choice over another in something you like? Well you're a deranged ungrateful whiny nitpicker, get owned!

I've seen so many of my friends be belittled for simply discussing their artistic preferences of things they're passionate about. I had a friend who said he prefers the original Crash Bandicoot design over his redesigned look in Crash 4, and had legitimate reasons for why he felt that way (even if he didn't really explain them clearly), and he got dunked for it which made me mad. I'm sick and tired of it all. The reaction to my art is only a mere example of the shit I despise about that site.

I had been planning on leaving Twitter for quite some time, as my follower count was growing nearer and nearer to 10K. I had planned on leaving after 10K followers because that amount was wayyyy too fuckin big for me to handle. I'm a young and growing lad, and I felt it wouldn't be good for my mental sanity to handle all that, so I dipped. The amount of attention I've been getting is simultaneously both wonderful and extremely overwhelming. Even the explosion of new followers and asks on here is quite the load! (Seriously, calm the fuck down y'all) I am very grateful for all the supportive asks I've gotten even though I won't be able to answer them all, thank you all so very much.

tl;dr I didn't leave Twitter because I was being harassed or anything, but rather because of the site's overall toxic and belittling environment.

Hyunjin rushed straight from his birthday live to Y/N's apartment, eager to spend the last thirty minutes of his special day with his beloved. Despite exchanging texts and calls throughout the day, it simply wasn't enough for him. Their plans for tomorrow didn't suffice either. He longed to see her, to be in her presence. Due to their hectic work schedules, it had been a whole week since they last met in person. All he wanted for his birthday was to be with her. He made sure to arrive at her apartment by 11:30pm. He would have come sooner, but cutting his birthday live short would have caused some trouble.  

The moment he stepped inside, Y/N found herself enveloped in his arms, causing her to almost drop the small cake and flowers she held in her hands.  

"Happy Birthday!" she exclaimed with excitement as he released her. "I know you've probably had enough cake, but I wanted to get a small one just for you," she rambled on. "I also got you some flo-"  

Her words were abruptly cut off as Hyunjin lips clashed against hers.  

"Thank you," he whispered, his voice brimming with gratitude as he pulled away from the kiss. "But you didn't have to."  

"I know, but I wanted to do something special for you," she replied, beaming from ear to ear.  

"Being with you right now, is all I need,” he says and takes the cake and flowers from her. 

Placing the cake and flowers on the table, he notices a large canvas facing backwards leaning against the wall. Curiosity piqued his interest. He takes a step towards the other end of the table. "What's this?"  

"Nothing!" Y/N exclaims, a hint of panic in her voice. She hurriedly rushes towards the canvas, snatching it from the table before he can get a hold of it. "It's nothing. You don't want to see it."  

"Did you paint something for me, baby?" he asks, his heart swelling with joy at the thought of her creating something special for him. She has always been incredibly supportive and interested in his artwork. She never gets upset when he immerses himself in his makeshift art studio (her spare bedroom) to draw and paint. She encourages him in every way possible, and that's one of the many things he adores about her.  

"Define painting something," she cringes, glancing at the painting in her hands.  

"I really want to see it," he insists, reaching out for the canvas, only for her to step back, shaking her head.  

"Trust me, you don't want to." 

He can see the conflict between wanting to show her painting to him and the fear of what his reaction might be. He takes a step closer, gently placing a hand on her arm, trying to reassure her.  

"Y/N, you know I love everything you do. From cooking me food to how you paint my nails and everything in between" he pleads, his voice filled with genuine curiosity. “You did it for me right? Please let me see it.” 

She hesitates for a moment, her grip on the canvas tightening. Finally, she takes a deep breath, and nods letting him know she did paint it for him. Slowly, she turns the painting around, revealing it to him.  

As his eyes fall upon the artwork, his face lights up. She’s unsure why. On the canvas is a mess of colours, some blended together to make other colours. In the center is a giant outline of a heart in black. In the middle of the heart is their initials ‘H.H + L/N Y/N’.  

“You did this for me?” he asks, once again. “Baby, this is the best gift I’ve ever gotten!”  

“I doubt it’s better than the gifts you got from Versace,” she mutters more to herself. “I could have done better.” 

“What are you talking about?” Hyunjin says letting her know that he heard what she said. “This is perfect and so much better than the gifts I got from Versace. You painted this with your own hands. You made it with love. It is by far the best gift I’ve ever gotten. As soon as I get back to the dorms, it’s going on my wall.” 

He places the painting back on the table, the canvas facing the right way, so the painting is on display. He pulls Y/N back into his arms and presses another kiss to her lips. “I love you.” 

“I love you too,” Y/N replies, kissing him back. “Happy Birthday, my love.”

Welcome to the Crop Top James Fest

What is the Crop Top James Fest?

The Crop Top James Fest is a fest for authors, artists and any other kinds of creatives who want to celebrate James Potter's birthday! We will be doing this by contributing art, writing, or any other creative work involving James Potter in a crop top to the hashtag #croptopjamesfest.

How does it work?

The idea is that everyone who wants to contribute posts their post here (or to art or fic sites like ao3 but make a post here with a link to the site) with the hashtag #croptopjamesfest and once the fest is over everything will be reblogged onto this sideblog so that we can use it as an archive / gallery to see everyone's works:) You will have until the end of the 27th of March (we're going by 12 pm gmt on what would be the 28th for gmt, which google tells me is when the last timezone has it's midnight, so that everyone has the whole day to finish) to post your work before they start being reposted onto this blog.

Rules

There are very little rules here. Just make sure to tag your works properly (nsfw, dead dove etc.), be kind to and supportive of each other, follow the instructions and we should be fine:) There's no word limit, no limit to how much art you can make etc etc. so this is all very lowkey and chill. You could draw a stick figure with glasses and a crop top and it would be fine!! Do not forget to tag your post with #croptopjamesfest and tag this blog in the post as well!!

Heya, wanted to ask if theres anywhere in particular you look for your slavic clothing references, or helpful keywords? Your work has been inspiring me to add some slavic stylings into a mountainous snowy wooded region and a red sand region im working on world building atm! : ]c

Well first things first, "slavic" is a very... vast word. We are a very big, diverse group of people and cultures that dont really overlap in many cases. So my first advice would be to focus less on "slavic" as a whole and more on a single region. Once you have that its generally not hard to look for references, depending on the place you chose; some of our ethnographic museums them have internet archives avilable (you just have to get friendly with google translate), a lot of people interested in ethnography of their countries have accounts compiling old photos (nowdays folk costume is used mostly in arts (at least in poland, every city and town has its own folk song and dance group. Costumes used in these groups are modified to fit the stage better, rule of theathre costuming and all that, so they arent the best reference in the world) and some cultural/religious events, so your best shot is looking for old illustrations and vintage photos) of their people and art. Theyre fairly easy to find on instagram but there are some on tumblr and other blog sites, i believe

But if it looks like a lot, here are some generally trusted go-to sources i use:

Poland: strojeludowe.net (all in polish but its the best online source you can get), @/polishcostumes and their other blog lamusdworski, instagram account polisharchives

Ukraine: Honchar museum, @/vintage-ukraine, instagram accounts ukrainianstriy and ukrainian_garment

Belarus: instagram account tradycyjny_stroj (they have a youtube channel too and its great)

Im sure accounts like the_balkans share things i mentioned as well but i dont really... draw anything from the south slavs, so i dont have much to share. I can however recommend you an amazing artist @/heruvimski who does draw a lot of south slavs

I'm especially sad about the AI art statement.

No one ever said they can't use AI in general. Nobody said this. As long as they don't let the chats be written by AI they can use it for whatever they want.

Me personally, I'm a little fan of AI in general. ChatGPT took Googles place in many situations for me. It's super easy, super interesting and faster. I use it instead of reading millions of Google sites. (of course I don't trust everything right away, check your sources, lovelies)

But that's not what I want to say.

I saw no one complaining about the usage of AI in general. As long as its not creating the whole game and especially not what the characters say etc.

The critism was about the usage of AI ART, not AI in general, completely missing the point in my eyes.

And yes, they're right. AI became a huge part of our lives now. We find it everywhere and we won't get rid of it again. That won't happen. For me, it's okay as long as it's not used to generate money by letting it write texts and stuff.

And I'm completely fine with them using it. Of course, it's still stealing and I won't deny that, but as I said, we won't get rid of it again.

But the usage of AI generated Art is wrong and should actually be illegal. They, as a small developer studio, they should know and they do know, how it is when your work gets stolen and used by strangers.

And that's exactly what AI does. And that's not okay. It simply isn't. Every generated art is based on hundreds of real arts our there. The smallest artist who posts their work will be a victim of that. Because AI pulls it's knowledge and the ability for art out of every little art source there is. And that's wrong.

And I'm disappointed about their statement with this point.

And the second statement about AI art...

Yes, it's wonderful that you will introduce new actors to us. Great, amazing. And yes, we do remember how it was in Duskwood. And we do remember that actors were introduced after some time. Hannah joined in the last episode, and this was great.

But the huge difference is, you used stock photos. Real photography. Real designs. Created by photographers or whoever. The point here is: Real human. And real work.

I don’t think I'm the only one. But the first second I saw the profile picture of Ash, immediately I was like "Hm, that reminds me straight up of arcane"

Which is logical when you use AI generated art because the AI of course uses at first the most popular references.

Fact is: We don't support the usage of AI Art in Moonvale.

Question is: Why didn't you use stock photos just like you did before?

Everbytes answer: Yes, okay, we can change their profile pictures. (Point done)

And I mean, come on. Violet has a freaking cat as profile picture. Where was the problem with just using a real cat for that? Nothing easier than finding a good picture of cats! 😭

And if you didn't want to use stock photos. Have you seen how many incredibly talented digital artists your fandom has? Have you seen the insanely good work they created for your game?

How about contacting a few of them? How about asking them to draw the characters you wanted to have? I'm 100% sure you wouldn't even have to pay them for. Most of them would do it for free right away.

Plus: Real art created by real people

Plus two: No money spending.

To be honest, they took a crumb of the criticism, twisted it a bit. Used the word AI, twisted a bit more, left their statement and at the end they gave us a small little victory by saying "They get new profile picture, see we're listening to you". They gave us a little "victory" so that we hopefully will be satisfied and not mention it again.
